As someone who is aspec myself, I love the idea of aroacespec Ford within the context of billford. *Especially* Ford grappling with a lifetime of bafflement about romantic and sexual attraction, and then feeling *some* kind of powerful emotion about Bill and getting excited about it like "this is it! This is the attraction thing that everyone always talks about! I'm finally experiencing it for someone, I'm doing 'humaning' correctly!!!" and maybe he's correctly identified it, or maybe its something else, such as queerplatonic attraction, or scientific fascination, but either way, feeling something like this for someone for the first time that feels more genuine than any of his attempts to feel heteronormative love in the past for an *eldritch god* is a whole other thing for him to grapple with, like, the internal confusion of "Why am I feeling this for the first time for a non-human entity? Does that cancel out the increased normalcy of me feeling This Kind of Love? Does it outweigh feeling Love and make me even weirder??"

And maybe, with any luck, this could end with Ford realizing that it *doesn't matter* what kind of love and/or affection and interest he and Bill have towards eachother, and it doesn't matter how much he conforms to society's ideals for what a human being "should be like." It doesn't *have* to be romantic for them to want to be together from now til the end of time. And even if sometimes their relationship might seem like it crosses into romantic and/or sexual territory, *they're* the ones who get to define it, and the multiverse is the limit. They don't *need* to confine the way they see their love for eachother to the human definitions and expectations for how people should feel and act within a long term relationship. And if humanity thinks that makes Ford less human, well, he doesn't fucking care, because what has the seemingly-always-just-out-of-reach ideal of "being human" that society has pushed upon him ever done for him except make him feel intensely isolated and unworthy? It doesn't matter if society hands him the title of "human" that they've cruelly dangled over his head his whole life or not. He is living the life he wants to lead, in the company of the person he cares for most, and that is all that truly matters.

Also, also, Varric's lifelong obsession with Bianca, how he can Never Love Again, how she is the Only One, naming his bow so he thinks of her every day, blah blah, while it is absolutely made clear that the actual most important relationship of his life is Hawke, is some straight up aromantic covering up. Just. Admit it, m'laddio, you are aro but also a writer of melodramatic novels, so you wrote yourself into one. Clever. No one will ever know.

Also Varric: Talks about Hawke 24/7, wishes Hawke was here, tells stories about Hawke, somehow manages to get Hawke to Skyhold before the Inq even knows where the hell Skyhold is, etc.

(My Rian Hawke is also aro, but they are 100% QPR. But in their case, tbh, they are not ace at all. But this could be some Varric hiding asexuality bs as well. As much as Varric balks against dwarven culture, DAO makes it clear that sex is a big expectation in Orzammar at least, to keep the numbers up. Hence even casteless girls being prettied up as prostitutes and baby makers.)

Okay I have recently learned about asexual rings and I thought ‘hey I’ll make a post about it on my main why not’

So apparently ace rings are black (or mostly black) rings that you wear specifically on the middle finger of your right hand. It’s like a subtle way of telling people you’re ace and I think that’s really cool!

There’s another ring that’s literally the opposite, a white (or mostly white) ring worn on the middle finger of your left hand that signifies being aromantic. I’d literally never heard of this one ever but had come across the ace one a few times in passing so it’s getting mentioned here too

I’m not entirely sure what the history of these things are (if anyone knows I’d be really interested to find out) but ya know. Since I’m ace and I love cool adjustable rings guess what I’m gonna start a collection of now and guess who’s dashboards I’m gonna clog up with it when I get started on it :)

I also learned a bunch of other stuff on the wiki looking this up! Apparently lemon bars are a big thing in the bisexual community and the Blahaj shark has an entire paragraph dedicated to it and how it’s a symbol of the trans community! And the high five was possibly invented by openly gay athletes which is cool and that the green carnation is associated with gay men because of Oscar Wilde (who was apparently gay?? I feel like my literature teacher should have mentioned that) wearing one. And violets? Represent lesbian and bisexual women because of Sapphos who I unfortunately know much less about. I didn’t see anything on asexuals and the dragons, space or cake associations but again, I’ve only seen these vaguely mentioned in Tumblr posts about how these things have declined because of exclusionists or something, I don’t really know much about it. There’s also apparently talk of comets being symbols for nonbinary folk, though it doesn’t look all too prevalent if the wiki is much to go on. It’s unfortunate I couldn’t see anything like the ace ring or the bi lemon bars thing for nonbinary folk like me but hey! I’m sure we will at some point! It’s not like this stuff can’t be added to, I mean look at Blahaj. I’d say that’s pretty recent
