I’d rather not go into too much detail because I don’t necessarily need a reason to defend her other than the fact I don’t agree with the demonising and distasteful comments (glances at the death threats) that so much of the fandom give her on a daily basis and golly gee I’ll be damned I actually unsurprisingly love her character. A lot. And I’m not gonna be caught giving hate to a good character that’s just fallen victim to poor writing and dodgy misogynistic pillocks.
Also: Nobody Fucking Comment Or Reblog about how you’re thoroughly shitting in your boots over how much you hate her I literally could not give a cunt’s arse about it and you will get blocked. I KNOW all of the reasons why most of the fandom hate her so no-one needs to fucking tell me over and over again like they have done for the last four years. I’m fucking tired of this conversation. 2012! April haters please get a fucking life and a reality check, you sound like a broken record. Also the turtles wouldn’t like you, but that’s pretty much a given.

your ocs 🔫 tell me everything and anything you wanna share
HI CRYPT i have a lot :]
so i have four main guys with an actual storyline (avry arlo rass rocks). technically five but the fifth doesn't have a name yet so we're not talking about her. and then i have funky little guys (moth, some other clones who i havent posted, and my newest guys cobra and lio!!)
avry is in her early twenties! she was knighted roughly a month before the clone wars began and wasn't supposed to lead a battalion at first. the jedi master who was going to lead the 409th battalion was several weeks away from kamino as the clone wars started, though, and avry was temporarily assigned to the 409th because she's closer and there isn't time to wait.
this temporary assignment is when she first met arlo, who at the time was a captain. in their third or fourth battle, the LAAT/i that was carrying arlo was shot down and his helmet was knocked off in the crash. avry lifted the rubble of the LAAT/i off of the survivors of the crash using the force-- if she hadn't been there, arlo probably would've bled out from his head injury before anyone managed to get to him.
shortly after this, the jedi master in charge of the 409th finally arrives! she's an older rodian training her second padawan, rass. she and avry's master are padawan siblings. avry leaves the 409th in the jedi master's capable hands and is assigned on several small relief missions.
of course, a few months later the 409th has an encounter with general grievous. the jedi master does not survive, but she does make sure rass will make it out alive.
avry is in the area, so she returns to the 409th. rass is supposed to go back to the jedi temple but they can't fathom leaving all of the clones they've befriended and fought beside-- they've already lost their master. so avry (impulsively) offers to take rass on as her own padawan.
and. well. this solves some problems. this also creates more problems. avry is already absolutely terrified about being responsible for a battalion. now she's also responsible for rass as well, who's basically her little sibling. she's not prepared for either of these things, but she's good enough at faking it so she's not going to think about it too much because she might break down and there isn't time for that. she can process everything when the war is over and everything goes back to normal.
she's very good at convincing herself that things will go back to normal.
arlo is doing better overall-- he's been promoted to commander (the original commander died a few weeks after avry left). he has a lot of confidence in avry. between avry saving his life early on, and the jedi master's competence and poise, he's a little ridiculously loyal to the jedi.
he's also a little bit blind to avry's flaws.
hold on. about arlo's pronouns: she is not thinking about her gender in universe until pretty late in the clone wars. i swap between she and he because she will end up using she/he pronouns.
rass meets rocks when their first master is still alive, while scouting out a droid factory. rass is leading rocks' squad and there are droids coming their direction. rass asks the clones if any of them have something that rass can throw to distract the droids. rocks hands over a rock. a few minutes later rass asks for another object. rocks hands over another rock. he has at least ten more.
rass nearly compromises the mission by laughing at the fifth rock produced. after this rass and rocks are inseparable. rocks, who is about an inch and a half shorter than the average clone, is delighted that he's no longer the shortest person he knows.
rass and rocks are my beloveds i love them dearly.
i also have a fair amount of info about avry here and some assorted info about all of these guys here
beyond my "main" four, i have moth (can be summed up by this and this) and cobra (very new guy. hes living his best life. having an affair with lio.) and lio (full name lio veniid. senator. a bit pretentious. not very significant politically. extremely disappointed by cobra's lack of appreciation for wine, has made it his goal in life to change this. its not working very well so far but they're both having a great time)
also fun fact: i have a curse in which i am incapable of drawing arlo's scar correct on any full piece. it's on the left side of her head. (forgot it) (flipped the canvas too many times)

arlo and john headcanon thread commence !!
- arlo was diagnosed at a young age with autism and ocd. later diagnosed with borderline. he seems to come off as very blunt and logical and sometimes “emotionless” but that’s because he tends to keep people at arms length. this is both due to borderline and severe masking. he has troubles with trusting people, and is very loyal to people he DOES trust, like valerie (youch..) . most people, however, don’t get this far.
- john has adhd, ptsd, and also borderline in my head. they both severely struggle with trust at first, but once they get to know eachother, they click so well. while i don’t believe they’d be cutesy and fluffy i do believe in this;
they gain a level of trust and comfort with eachother they’ve never felt with anybody else.
+ they start trusting eachother with small tasks. arlo let’s john take some weight off his shoulders; john let’s arlo help with nightmares, silently pulling him closer on especially worse nights. jarlo for me isn’t fluffy and excessively cute most of the time. it’s trust.

arlo's photos of his friends will make you think he does not like them, but he just loves having a little giggle! with aivryn he feels it's owed because she stresses him out! the top left photo.. honestly he doesn't have en explanation for. he barely got his phone out fast enough to take it. the bottom left photo was actually taken during a video and he just screenshotted it to post later because comedy gold. the story was actually suppose to be a video. he was trying to do the "how many numbers are you gonna get tonight?" video, but he was a little drunk and ended up posting that instead.

Hoping this doesn't start OG vs LS discourse but it's so annoying that ppl praise LS more just because Tar los is canon and Buddie isn't. I'm seeing it a lot here and it's frustrating because people seem to think that canon always means better and that's not true.
I'm in the camp of Buddie fans who would be so happy if it was canon but ultimately doesn't care if it doesn't happen because I love their story and the rest of the show regardless, and it's annoying that ppl are reducing the OG to that one pairing and acting like its value is less and that all of 911's other well done (and diverse, if that's what LS fans care about) stories don't matter because the popular mlm ship isn't canon.
this is such a weird take that i always see from them. personally, if buck and eddie went canon and it was anything like t arlos, i'd be devastated. i'd rather their relationship stays the way it is without going canon, rather than turning into...whatever LS has going on. aside from the fact that it's incredibly homophobic to act as if two gay ships are interchangeable, there's an entire universe of difference between both pairs. buck and eddie have almost five seasons worth of development and we've seen every bit of it, every conflict, every major scene, every shared trauma. and that's not even taking into account the christopher of it all 🤷🏽♀️
and yeah, like you said, the OG has a lot more going on for them than buddie, and even if buddie did go canon, they would in no way be the 'main' dynamic at the focus of the show because the OG actually knows what an ensemble is. also this argument is such an insult to their own preferred show? 😂 like you're basically implying that it has nothing else going on for it other than this one ship, and that is...not a good look. lol.

2012 april isnt the most well written character, but she absolutely does not deserve the hate she gets. the 2012 series, like every series, has its flaws and its strengths. i love her take no shit attitude and she was a call to action that the turtles needed. i just wish the writers did her more justice

I don't really have any headcanons for him. Maybe that he's overprotective of Remi because he feels responsible for her after Rei's death. Oh, and he probably has piercings because his evil aunt Agnes (Val) took him on a girls' trip to the mall one day and they said "screw it, why not" when they passed the Claire's
Also, I know that man is like 5'11, but imagining he's 5'2 in spirit always makes me feel better >:3

17. What’s something you’ve learned about while doing research for a fic?
Oh, this is a hard one, because I’m very bad at remembering when and how I learned information unless the circumstances in which I learned it were very memorable, and most of my fic research involves getting lost in a link chain rabbit hole for hours and coming back up like I’ve just woken from a fugue state. Actually, as I was writing this I was thinking about the justified og au and remembered one of the things I researched in depth for that: the details and dangers which “robbing a mine” entails, as well as some very specific instances where attempts to do so ended in disaster. A lot of mining companies would pay people under the table to do this for them, but of course some people did it for themselves because they could make more money per ounce on the coal than the mine was willing to pay them for it. Guess which of these equally illegal activities more often resulted in arrest? Yep; if you were doing this for yourself behind the company’s back, you weren’t just accused of robbing the mine, but also of robbing the mining company.

This is from a collection of prequel snippets in the heavy heart universe. It was never intended to be published and instead is really just for my own reference, so it’s rougher than I’d prefer:
"Arlo says the two'a you's queer for each other."
Boyd freezes, but Raylan just rolls his eyes. "Arlo says the mailman's queer because he—I’m quotin, here—‘spends all day shovin things in mail holes.' And when my mama told Arlo that's just his job, Arlo said that made it worse, on account'a he's gettin paid for it."
Johnny laughs. "Shit. Your old man may be an asshole, Raylan, but he's a funny one."
Raylan's said far worse about Arlo himself, but he feels his hackles rise anyway. "You oughtta watch what you say, Johnny."
Johnny lounges back on the dugout bench and looks at Raylan through hooded eyes. "Careful, Raylan. We ain't in high school anymore, when our families left us to it. Your affairs are your daddy's, now, and his affairs are yours, and he ain't exactly got his affairs in order."
Boyd, still lounging against the chain link, having since recovered from his earlier jolt of fear, smirks at him. "Maybe you're well-served to mold yourself blindly in your daddy's image, cousin, but if I am truly to become my daddy, I must first become my own man."
Johnny spits on the ground. "Long as your own man ain't a fag."

Without thinking about it, Alana. I tentatively want to say Peri. It's funny because they're both calmer in a real emergency [Alana more poised and Peri determinedly optimistic]. But I feel jump scares would probably rattle them.
i say, MAYBE, Arlo. But I am still figuring him out. I think jumpscares get Arlo when he's very focused or when they're ones you wouldn't expect. While Alana is jumping at every one lmao. Peri is in the middle.
