he sure does connect with new people easily...as long as he doesn't let his personal hangups get in the way or just decide they're a threat to him somehow (see: his initial treatment of eddie and ravi, and even tommy, to an extent, in 7x04). i think it's pretty obvious that i meant all that as a direct comparison to the way fandom characterizes eddie in the complete opposite direction, i.e, acting like that he doesn't get along with new people at all and can even be hostile towards them. lol.

also, the ray of sunshine thing? fandom does absolutely ignore the buck's darker side, his capacity to cause harm—as we've seen demonstrated over and over again in the show—to portray him as this golden boy who could never do anything wrong in his life, while in the same breath assigning negative and even violent traits to eddie that he doesn't even have. 🤷🏼

howdie hima!!! (i'm ignoring everything and focusing on wholesome howdie fun instead, so here's some little headcanons) - howdie kissed once in a tipsy "fuck it why not" moment at some bar, it was great but they have an unspoken agreement to never talk about it ever, but it's a fond/fun memory (did it cause eddie to go into a little sexuality crisis? yes, but that's besides the point) - eddie is a little dazed after that kiss and tells chim "didn't think i'd like stubble so much" and now whenever chim is being a little shit he'll mention his stubble in an off-hand comment just to see eddie fight a blush - chimney obviously came up with the name but he doesn't tell anybody about it for a long while because it's just a silly little thing for his personal entertainment - chimney started greeting eddie by saying howdy because he thinks it's funny, eddie is confused but pretends to tips his invisible cowboy hat when he says howdy back - eddie mentions he has a stetson while they're on shift and takes out his phone to show everybody and chimney practically flees because "you're already hot enough i can't deal with you in a cowboy hat" - the rest of a shift kinda find out over a silly game of never have i ever during a slow shift when athena goes "never have i ever kissed somebody of the same sex" and chim takes a sip and then pointedly looks at eddie so then eddie takes a sip but they refuse to say anything else

It would tie up his arc nicely - we know the burns nurse from his past is coming back and that the signs point to his arc being connected with the St Paul fire he feels is his fault - the fire that took his family from him.

So what if he saves his current family in some way and that he gets to accept and move on - winning an ward in the process?

It would feel satisfying and full circle and would fir with the shows way of doing arcs. We saw it last season with Athena and her finding out what had happened to Tanya.

Has the show ever shown jealous Eddie? I’m trying to think of any instance where he was shown to be jealous leading to so much of the fandom expecting it to happen. I don’t think he was jealous of Taylor, I always thought he just didn’t like her as a person.

i think...4x12 (treasure hunt) is really the only episode where you can read jealousy into eddie's general behavior. and even then, i'm sure it was colored by, like you said, his dislike of her as a person. all other times, he keeps his opinions about buck's relationships firmly to himself lmao you could not pry them out of him with a crowbar
