Chapter 5: Truth and Duty
Narrated by Aeon.
Aeon: You’re... Leonid?
Leonid: The Heart of the Ark has already told you the answers you seek.
Narrator: The man’s voice rings out from the depths, calming me in my fall.
Leonid: This void is where you were born. The Ocean of Memories was once an order-less chaos, like an irrational beast.
Leonid: See that? Nothing but darkness once you lose all reasoning. Only by maintaining the order of Ocean of Memories will mankind not fall from grace.
Aeon: The Ocean of Memories needs the Ark, and the Ark needs me?
Leonid: That’s right, your birth was to maintain order and rationality.
Narrator: The man in the hoodie fades into a blur, and I reach out to grab him, but my fingers pass into emptiness.
Aeon: Wait! You still haven’t told me...
Narrator: I keep asking the void. But that figure grows even more transparent, until it fades into the light above.
Aeon: ...who I am.
Leonid: Time will bring you the truth, although the truth may not be pleasing.
Narrator: That voice disappears into the sea, leaving only his words echoing in my head.
Leonid: Before then, don’t forget your duty.
Narrator: In the glass hall, the heart prism continues to revolve, glistening with an immortal light.
Narrator: From that time on, I searched relentlessly for anything about Leonid. And yet I’ve found nothing.
Marina: So Lehman’s gone?
Aeon: He found his memories, and now that his mirror is restored, he should be called Joe now.
Marina: Alright, it’s just that I still wanted to skateboard with him...
Narrator: I stoop down to her level, patting Marina’s head.
Choose “What on earth is going on?”
You: Lehman, Lizzy? What’s going on?
Narrator: Following the orphanage that I saw in the prism, I found Lehman in the real world, except his name was Joe.
Narrator: His foster parents told him everything.
Narrator: His parents would support his dreams, and Joe would stop rebelling. They were at peace.
Narrator: On this endless, lonely sea, the only things I encounter are the memories of people. They tell me stories of different worlds.
Narrator: And at the same time, in the real world, they continue to live their lives.
Narrator: Although they may run into trials and lose control, they keep following their paths rationally, and meet their happy endings.
Choose either “You don’t want to uncover your identity anymore?” or “What’s going to happen to Lehman?”
If “identity,” ...
You: Will you keep searching for your identity?
Narrator: Of course, this is something that I must know, and someday in the future I’m sure I’ll find it.
Narrator: But for now, I’m not going to give up on my duty.
If “Lehman,” ...
You: What will happen to Lehman?
Narrator: Frustrating and painful things will continue to happen, but with the light of rationality, he’ll find his own path, too.
--
Narrator: After seeing the Ocean of Memories like that, I’ll never let the world sink into such chaos.
Narrator: I wish for the light of rationality to shine on forever, so that happiness will never disappear.
Narrator: I raise my head, looking around at the countless facets floating in the archive.
Aeon: Although I don’t know who I am, at least I know why I’m here.
Narrator: Even if it’s just instinct, if I can use my rationality to help others, I’m willing to maintain the Ocean of Memories forever.
Choose “Did you hear any noise?”
You: Listen closely, Aeon, do you hear something?
Narrator: Hm?
Choose “Like a mirror breaking...”
You: It sounds like... a mirror breaking?
Narrator: Marina?
Marina: Uh-oh!
Narrator: Truth and duty aside, I have to first deal with this little gremlin.

Don’t wait until the door of the Ark closes...
The Gospel has been preached to every creature under heaven (Colossians 1:23). Everyone, every thing, knows the truth. It’s why Paul wrote in Romans chapter 1 that even those who hold the truth in unrighteousness are without excuse; every soul to ever exist has no excuse whatsoever, meaning that no one will be able to stand before God and claim that they didn’t know the truth because the truth has been shown to us all. The will of God isn’t that any should perish, but that all would have everlasting life through His Son, Jesus Christ (John 3:16-18, 2 Peter 3:9). Because God desires that we live, He has revealed Himself to every eye: 19 “Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them (us); for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse (Romans 1:19-29).”
God is a just God and it would be unjust of Him to not reveal Himself to us, and yet still expect for us to somehow know that He exists. So how is it that there are still so many unbelievers? The Bible makes it clear that even though the existence of God is clearly shown through the evidence of all creation, it’s the pride in the hearts of man that blinds us from the light of His truth. Instead of acknowledging God for who He is, the True and Living God, we give the glory to the creation rather than to the Creator Himself. It’s why we see billions worship false gods such as nature, and put their trust in the universe: “21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things (Romans 1:21-23).”
God is a gentleman and He doesn’t force Himself onto us, but gives us free will. And with that free will, we can choose to either serve Him, or stand against Him. However, every action is followed by a consequence, be it positive or negative. When we refuse to retain God in our knowledge, He’ll step back and let us do what our hearts desire to do; and as a result, we are turned over to a reprobate mind (Romans 1:28), an unprincipled mind— a mind that embraces a lifestyle of unrepentant sin and one that cannot please God.
God is not slack (slow) concerning His promise, as some may count slow, but is long-suffering to us, not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance. The reason why there is still breath and our lungs today, the reason why Jesus hasn’t come back yet is because He’s graciously giving us time to repent of our sins and turn our hearts to Him. He doesn’t want any of us to die in our sins. He wants us to have an everlasting life, to dwell with Him forever in Paradise. He loves us. You and I are His precious creation.
Don’t wait to give your life to Christ. When the door of the ark (Jesus) finally closes and the rain of the flood begins to pour down (God’s wrath and judgment), it’ll be too late. You didn’t come across this by accident or by chance. Jesus is willing. Jesus is waiting.
