I just started following you today, and this is something I need to say. Taylor is praised as the songwriter of a generation when her composing is so dull and bad that artists whom her fans don’t even think are songwriters do it better. Think Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Harry Styles, and Shawn Mendes, all artists that her fans believe aren’t good songwriters, are all 100% better at composing songs than Taylor. Their lyrics may not be as “complex” (they are, but they take a little deeper analysis to understand). Still, they all compose complex and exciting music within their musical elements.

i can only speak for Beyoncé but that woman does NOT write her songs. and i say this as a sincere former fan but she is known for adding songwriting credits for herself despite making litte lyrical* contribution. Ariana Grande doesn’t either (Victoria Monét actually wrote Ariana’s most famous songs) only Shawn Mendes and Harry Styles are the proper songwriters here.

But agree. All of them make much more interesting, invigorating and exciting music than Swift. Swifties lean heavily into Swift’s lyrical “complexity” (which sometimes is just straight up bad writing) to justify her “superiority” as an artist. Swifties are really dumb.

i think the best thing you can really do to support different musician fanbases all across the world is watch documentaries about them.

i had a shit view on BTS, now i respect them after watching a really amazing concert movie.

Same happened with Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Shawn Mendes and many others. you shouldn’t put people down for what they like, and it’s okay to have your own opinion but sometimes it’s fun to look into different fanbases haha.
