History.

Ahh, history. There's been a lot of it. Enough to go around, you might say. There's been a fair few billions of years of this most elusive metaphysical substance, and a few things of note have happened within that time: dinosaurs roamed the Earth, then didn't. Cities emerged. The Greeks ate very well and sh*gged each other senseless, then didn't. The wheel was invented somewhere down the line, as was sliced bread. Dogs were domesticated (as were cats, sort of). Some smart folk put the alphabet together. The printing press was invented. The Industrial Revolution happened and sent us on a violent forward and backward trajectory simultaneously. Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at The Oscars (2022). It's been a busy old time, that's for sure, but the clock keeps-a-tickin', and the wheel keeps-a-turnin'. Come tick along with us as we celebrate all that is strictly past tense: #history.

went to a starbies to work on my essay with a. few friends (don’t mind how bad it is — it’s my “shit draft!”), and then did some more work on the go.

26.04.2023 || It’s been many years since I’ve posted here, but recent thesis deadlines are demanding a level of romanticise-academia-to-hustle-some-results-in that I haven’t needed in a long time. So here’s to some long study days and a conscious effort to avoid burnout (if those two things are capable of coexisting).

The floor is hella cold but I couldn’t work sitting anywhere else. While I’m reading for my PhD proposal I’m attempting for the fist time to crochet myself a sweater. Crafting is my way to relax after a long day in the lab.

Also, since this is the Archaeology hashtag I’m sharing cute 6th century CE mosaics from the city of Ravenna, which I visited a few weeks ago. I’m a bit of a nerd about late antiquity and the Romano-barbaric interaction, I info-dumped my girlfriend for the whole trip. Bless her she puts up with me and my fascination for the Ostrogoths!

why has nobody been talking about this on here?? this is the coolest thing!!! this was like... 2 weeks ago it's insane!

now i need to finish the second article i started and apply their methodology to my corpus so that i can move forwards with my dissertation !!

Hello! I used to have this domain as a studyblr but since finishing my masters, I saw little point in continuing that route so I decided to start from scratch. So consider this a little introduction back into this site that feels completely strange to me despite growing up in the Tumblr golden era.

My name is Lis, I'm a PhD student in Scientific Archaeology focusing on the effects of animal domestication in Central Europe. I'm currently struggling to find a passion for a subject that I genuinely love so I'm hoping that coming back to this little corner of the internet will reignite my love for history and learning.
