Completely forgot I had downloaded the audio to LB's cover of Prince's "1999" and added it to my Spotify local files folder a while back. Was pleasantly surprised when it came on during my shuffle play. Best thing to happen to me today.

Hi Rafa!
Back again in your inbox and I have what’s probably a silly question but I am nothing but silly and goofy so I’ll ask anyway
I was thinking about yk the verious depictions of lucifer (as every sane and normal person does) and it got me wondering onwhat made you decide to characterise Lucifer the way you did, mainly because usually in modern media he’s very much seen as a anti-hero and mostly he’s seen as a good (-ish) guy that didn’t do too much wrong, the rebellion is usually very much written off as something akin to teenage rebellion and God is just seen as a disappointed parent that had no other choice but teach a lesson to his kids (and well that is of course because gods forbid someone sees God as anything less than the perfect father but I digress), for example the Lucifer series does this and in part too hazbin hotel.
And idk it was refreshing to see your read of Lucifer, he starts good and very much kidlike and then his wonder and love become corrupt I’d say, I struggle to call him evil because well for one I have what could be considered too much sympathy for him and I understand him, he was set up to fail in a lot of ways. So I guess I just wonder what made you say “no I’m going to keep the “bad” and “evil” that is in him”
(I am aware that the answer is probably just well he’s like that in most classical depictions but idk I want to hear you ramble about Luci and his development because that’s always interesting and I love it ajdhsh)
Sorry for the confused ramble anyway lots of love from Italy <3
-J :)
Hello! This is a dangerous question!! I have many many essays I'd love to write about the depiction of Lucifer in media and about what eventually led me to making Lucifer like that. It's also fresh in my mind right now because I saw that Lucifer Hazbin Hotel episode recently. (I actually don't have a ton of thoughts on Hazbin Lucifer. He is very cute, but Hazbin isn't trying to be theological I think; it's just having fun with the mythology.)
I would say that societal depictions of Lucifer always mirror a lot of the way that society has come to understand not the devil, but God, parent-child relationships, authority, tradition, and so on. Some people think Paradise Lost was the first to make Lucifer a hero, but it's actually very clear that Milton wanted his flaws to outweigh the good things, to make Satan ultimately a bad person, and to justify God's actions to us.
Like 200 years later, William Blake started saying that Paradise Lost was pro-Lucifer, though by accident: "Milton was of the Devil's party without knowing it." But Blake lives in a very different time, during the French and American revolutions and the industrial revolution. Old traditions and empire are getting shaken up, the story of Lucifer looks a lot more heroic.
I won't get too much into how Satanic panic affected things (or even the rise of anti-theist communist regimes!), though I think the Satanic panic of the 90s really exacerbated Lucifer's connection to teenage rebellion. (Also, I'm focusing on the US because of how much their media is exported and influences other countries).
But so then we got the modern Lucifer I used to see quite a bit — suave, night club owning, slutty, probably referenced bisexual, manipulator of women. I always thought this development was kind of strange. It's almost like what Blake did to Milton's Lucifer; we didn't change how the people before us thought of him, we just decided that the Lucifer we're supposed to hate is actually super cool.
But I was not super compelled by this Lucifer. And I reference these lines a lot, but the idea of Satan in Western Christianity came from several passages from the Bible, one of which is Ezekiel 28, and I was really struck with line 14: “You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in you," as well as the multiple times the chapter stresses that the cherub of Eden fell because of his corrupting beauty above all.
I realized I never really saw "blameless" Lucifer, innocent Lucifer. In a lot of interpretations, he's just sort of born wrong or always a little Evil. But the lines say that he was innocent once, and I got really caught up in that. I thought of God watching Lucifer be beautiful and innocent in all that time (like a voyeur).
It felt like the next step in Lucifer's development to take the child-parent relationship between him and God and make it ugly. (Though sticking with the dichotomy of good vs evil didn't really work for me. Lucifer isn't good but he's not evil either, and the weird love and hate mixture is what brings him closer to how God is, too (to me)).
We live in a day and age where all authority is being critiqued, where we don't laugh at teenage rebellion as much. I mean, if you watch any recent Disney movie, you'll see parents learning from their children to stop the cycle of generational abuse. And, of course, with Lucifer becoming so associated with queerness (Lil Nas' MONTERO for example), the framing that he's just a metaphor for a teen rebel who will one day realize his dad was right... falls apart. Lots of teens kicked out of their house for being gay are grown up now and making shows/movies/etc.,. And I think it's always better not to shy away from trauma victims being imperfect and, occasionally, cruel.
So. yeah! I've always been surprised that Lucifer as an imperfect victim of parental abuse, running away, taking some of his sibling with him, isn't more common in general.

hiii jannah. any poems been on your mind recently
Hi lucy my dear i am SO glad you asked. prepare for rambles
i am constantly stupefied and outraged at frank o'hara who was of course one of the best to ever do it!!!!!!! his style is something that i personally struggle with -- the easy personal nature, how he weaves his friends By Name so effortlessly and beautifully into his work, how he captures new york and art and love and everything so well. fuck!!!!! it's really hard for me to do that because i always feel kitschy and cringey but like. save me frank save me. "for grace, after a party" is one of my favorites of his for various reasons but i think "and when someone you love enters the room and says wouldn't / you like the eggs just a little different today? / and when they arrive they are just plain scrambled eggs and the warm weather is holding" is just. the absolute perfect pair of last lines. they make me cry every fucking time for reasons i can't even put into words. it's just love distilled. it's pure love in the plainest scrambled eggs. i'm crying again
hanif abdurraqib's "dudes, we did not go through the hassle of getting these fake IDs for this jukebox to not have any springsteen" is my poem of the Year actually. i read it right before midnight on new year's and my birthday and just oh god. i carry it in my heart forever and ever and ever. i tried reading it aloud recently and jesus fuck that enjambment is hard but it's so so good. what would i do without you hanif!!! he was actually inspired by frank o'hara's style particularly how he uses the names of his friends, which i find fairly evident in this poem!!!
my memorized poem for the month was cameron awkward-rich's transcendent "meditations in an emergency" (which is, perhaps not so coincidentally, after frank o'hara's poem by the same name -- i also own the collection with the same name, it was gifted to me by my beloved :]]) it's such a beautiful little poem, the movement of it reminds me so starkly of the wind that cameron evokes in the end. and like. hand on my stupid heart. forever and ever and ever.
anis mojgani's "to the sea". i am a terrible horrible american from a sea of parking lots and i have fallen in love dozens of times in my car! enough said.
honorary last line mentions go to alex dimitrov's "today i love being alive" ("call me old-fashioned really. / but when i cut myself shaving above the lip / i lick up the blood. i don't wince."), mary karr's "diogenes tries to forget" ("and i love you / with one hemisphere of my brain, / the dumb one, which forgets"), and as always & forever, kaveh akbar's "forfeiting my mystique" ("to the extent i am necessary at all, i am necessary like a roadside deer  -- / a thing to drive past, to catch / the white of, something / to make a person pause, / say, look, a deer.").
i love last lines of poems so very much!!!!!!!! they stick with me they loop in my head i reblog so many poems because i fear i'll remember last lines and not know which poems they're from and never find them ever again!!!! fuck wouldn't that be awful!!!!! anyway i love poetry so much. and i love love. and i love you lucy!!!! thank you so much for the ask and the opportunity to ramble :]] <333

The insomnia demons have been growing in strength recently but the good side of sleepless nights is that it gives me more time to consume Lockwood and Co. fan media! This week's fascination has been edits. I'm sure we all know this already but there are some superb ones out there. Now, while I know nothing of editing and have none of the skills to create such masterpieces, I'd kill (joking) to see someone make and edit to Black Out Days by Phantogram. I mean, we already have their song Cruel World in the actual show (and that's how I found this gem), but Black Out Days is so Lockwood and Co. coded sometimes it physically hurts. To illustrate:
Tumblr media
Jessica's room anymone? Lockwood does literally has a black out curtain in there.
Tumblr media
The sunglasses has to wear anytime he's in her room?!
Listening in general but it brings to mind the Red Room or even the Winkman's warehouse.
Tumblr media
Lucy basically speaking a different language when it comes to communicating with the Skull.
We'll get to these lyrics again later but for now I think footage of a good Locklyle moment would be good foreshadowing.
Tumblr media
All the symbolism and instances they used mirrors for filming is just begging to be showcased.
I know we don't have footage of it (yet) but "stay away" is basically Lucy's entire exsistsnce/mantra/what have you in the fourth book.
Tumblr media
Graves in general come to mind, but especially Bickerstaff's
Flares anyone?
Tumblr media
That whole Bickerstaff rising moment would be awesome with this poetic language I think.
Tumblr media
Okay, it doesn't translate very well in text but the way it's sung it sounds like the word "Stay" is just being elongated. The flare scene, "We need you Lucy. Please stay." would go perfectly here.
It literally says haunting and it's perfect for when Lucy's Listening.
Tumblr media
So you know when encountered that last line earlier? Well I think it would be perfectly heart wrenching if it's now mirrored with either the start of episode 8 where both Lockwood and Lucy are still soaked from their dip in the Thames or that moment after the rescue from Winkmans where Lockwood decides not to open up and a part of Lucy gives up on him. (What would be even more perfect is that scene in Creeping Shadow when Lockwood comes knocking on her door but we don't have that on screen. Yet 🤞)
Anyway, that's just me. Thanks for sticking around for my ramblings if you made it this far. If anyone ever does or already has made a Lockwood and Co edit to this song someone PLEASE tell me, I'd love you forever.

I started reading Halo books after you recommended Legacy of Onyx to me not too long ago. I started with Fractures, which was a good first taste. Really liked Into the Fire. Next up was Legacy of Onyx, which was REALLY GOOD WOW and I chewed through the whole thing in two days. There's SO much left about Onyx, I hope we get more of it in novels or gameplay in the future. Now I'm onto Rubicon Protocol, which is pretty good so far (ch3) but not holding my attention as hard as Legacy of Onyx did
Ooh, Fractures is an interesting place to start imo. I'm glad you enjoyed it! It honestly gives you a lot of directions you could jump off in if you're looking for more book recs. I think getting into stuff with big lore like Halo is, unless you're doing something wild like just reading all of it like I did, mostly about figuring out what your handholds are and what you're interested in and where to go to follow those interests.
Rubicon Protocol is definitely a heavier, slower book than Legacy I think. It's a lot grimmer. I thought it was good overall but there were definitely points where I had to take a break because that gets dark. Really loved what the author did with Stone in particular, though.
If you are looking for more things to add to your list for later, based on what you've said here...
(Big post of tumblr user bloodgulchblog rambling about different Halo novels below the jump)
Tumblr media
Ghosts of Onyx is the one I'm most confident about. I typically wouldn't recommend Ghosts as someone's first go at Eric Nylund's Halo novels because they're kind of a trilogy and having The Fall of Reach and First Strike read first makes it better, but if you had a good time diving right in the deep end at Fractures I think you'll be completely fine. (...The other two have Master Chief though and he's my special guy.)
Anyway, the reason I'd say Ghosts of Onyx is the stories you've already read are very heavy on the Spartan-IIIs, and that one is their origin story. You've met Tom-B292 and Lucy-B091 twice, you know Chief Mendez, you've seen the Ferrets, you've seen what Onyx turns into. Then if you like what Nylund was doing, Ghosts has you meet the surviving Spartan-IIs and Halsey and that's a big handhold to dig back further toward tFoR and FS if you feel like it.
Tumblr media
Into the Fire is also an easy one to pull a rec off of, because it's actually the first section of a novella called Smoke and Shadow about Rion Forge. I liked it! It's short, but it was refreshing to see a book completely focused on civilian characters (...which is another reason that Legacy was fun for me.) It's also the start of a trilogy. The other two books are Renegades and Point of Light, both of those are full length and are circling back to Forerunner lore that hadn't been touched on in a while.
Tumblr media
...Actually, speaking of Forerunners, man I feel like it has to have been wild to go right off with Promises to Keep without the context of the Forerunner trilogy. If you're curious based on that, try Cryptum. The Forerunner Trilogy is some true old-fashioned world-buildy weird scifi, Greg Bear was a master, and Cryptum is pretty accessible because it's about Bornstellar the idiot Forerunner teenager who knows just as little about what's going on as you do.
If you like it and go forward there, I'd say the middle book, Primordium, is much slower paced because it's focused on one guy (Chakas) in particular walking around with some other characters on a spooky Halo, but the third book Silentium is this great apocalyptic log of the whole of Forerunner civilization coming the fuck apart and the Didact losing his goddamn mind. 10/10
....What else.
Oh fuck, I know what else.
Tumblr media
Alright, so. I don't like the Kilo Five trilogy, which is the series Glasslands is the first book of. The writing is engaging, but it has... it's hard to say it in a short way without starting to pull out my red string conspiracy board of insanity live on camera, but 1) this book in particular severely mishandles the characters from Ghosts of Onyx and 2) it has this really uncomfortable vibe about ONI and "necessary evil" that I think it doesn't quite stick it in a way I'm cool with. tl;dr the fictional characters don't need to be good people doing good things and fiction isn't real and the author doesn't have to come out on stage and tell you BAD PEOPLE DOING BAD THINGS IS BAD in order for a book to be okay, but I just do not trust the way this author handles ONI for real-world reasons that have a lot to do with real-world military imperialism.
...Also if you disagree with her on anything, especially Halsey, prepare to get hit with a sledgehammer telling you that you shouldn't be having fun. But I'll try to be the bigger person here.
The main reason I would say Glasslands at all is mostly Jul 'Mdama, who really does not get any emotional weight anywhere else in Halo. He's just kind of a ragdoll they throw around to have a bad guy in Spartan Ops and the Escalation comics until killing him off in the first 2 seconds of Halo 5. But if you cared about his sons in Legacy, I think you will find the origin story of Jul and how he wound up in an extremist Sangheili sect (and how badly the UNSC treated him as a POW) interesting. (He's also in The Thursday War, which gets him to where he is when he goes to find the Didact. Up to you if you decide to continue for that.)
It also deals with getting characters out of the dyson sphere at Onyx right after that's been discovered. I'd say if you're interested in this one, definitely read Ghosts of Onyx first.
........OKAY I THINK THAT'S EVERYTH-
Tumblr media
This is just to say that if you really liked the Halo But It's High School vibe of Legacy of Onyx, you might enjoy the actual Halo YA novel Battle Born where four scared high school kids and one (1) wounded Spartan-III who's only a little older them try to rescue a whole town from the Covenant. It's slow at the start, but it's short and I had a lot of fun.
DONE FOR REAL THIS TIME THANKS FOR READING HAVE FUN OUT THERE BYYYYYYE

Ok OK YOUR GLORYHOLE POST GAVE ME SOME IDEAS/THIRSTS @haithanist im sorry its so much rambling >>
Given their reputations, its unlikely Luci or Dia would go to a gloryhole (but also depending on how Devildom society treats sex work but I digress akskskkaksk). Not when Diavolo is the crown prince and has his own responsibilities which likely includes political marriage and making an eligible heir. And Lucifer would never tarnish his own reputation or Diavolo's reputation in association visiting somewhere like that, not to mention he's constantly busy chasing after his brothers when he's not doing paperwork. So no one can imagine that either of them would go.
So instead, they visit in secret, probably using their magic to even disguise themselves, not like it's hard for how skilled and powerful they both are. But they're busy demons, and they're stressed. They just need something simple, no strings attached, someone to pump their load and their stress into so they can clear their minds. Although no amount of magic disguises their huge cocks either, making quite the impression on whoever it is that ends up servicing them.
For extra thirst, imagine being the same person that ends up servicing them. At first, it's just the one night, but no one fucks like they do, and while you can't see your clients' faces nor are you allowed to speak to them, you just know when it's not him. But some time later, maybe some months have passed, he finally visits again.
After all, he can't forget the way your insides gripped his cock, milked him of every drop of cum and stress all at once, the noises you made as he pounded into you with everything he had. The feeling is so addicting to him, he can't help but come back again... and again, and again, each visit sooner than the last, until he's your regular.
It drives you both crazy, of course. To know the most intimate physical parts of a person, the way he knows to angle just right to hit that spongy spot inside you, how he grips your thighs and digs his claws in that painful yet pleasurable way, his growls and grunts of pleasure as he takes what he wants. But you don't know what the other looks like, you can't see the way his eyes screw close in pleasure, the dazed look in his eyes as he loses himself in your heat, and you don't even know his name to scream it when he makes you cum around him, not that you're allowed to address him anyway.
Although make no mistake. When you do finally slip up and say something, begging him to go harder, screaming "yes!" to the high heavens as he brings you to sweet climax, he will stop at nothing to hear your voice again. He might even finally get rid of the barrier between you two if necessary, his reputation be damned. 💜

Hello, weird question, you know how Droy gain weight over the time skip? I thought that was a little random as he didn't strike me as a glutton. Is there anyone you head canon would gain weight or muscle in that time frame?
I've been avoiding this ask bc I'm going to make ppl mad with my hcs lol
Anyway droy has always been fat to me I live him so much😌😌
It's handled v stupidly in canon for obvious reasons and the fact they do the same joke with sting makes me so violent
In my mind, droy has always been on the heavier side and during the whole "levy being dead for 7 years" he loses so much weight just due to depression and not eating properly so when she comes back he gains it back and it's just a nice like, healthy weight gain example!
As for other body type hcs I have many so let's go
Lucy- she has a slight tummy and is def very bottom heavy, when she starts gaining muscle mass she generally looks a little bigger because the muscle is relaxed and looks like fat until she flexes 😌
Natsu- same as canon high key with less definition. That boy has never been to a gym he doesn't train like that he just climbs trees and is insane
Gray- twink
Erza- CUT! She's slim and very top heavy with broad shoulders, unlike natsu she does actually work out quite a bit so she does have more definition, especially in her arms
Juvia- no muscle. All love. She's so delicate at first. Since to me her magic made her rely so heavily on long range combat she never really learned hand to hand (this is my rewrite don't talk to me abt canon I can't hear u) and she slowly gains more muscle mass the longer she's with fairy tail but she doesn't get like, built, just more healthy weight
Idk im rambling now but I could go on and on abt just the smallest hcs I have for them

this isn’t exactly a request but if you have the time and also feel like doing it could you just- idk, say everything that u like about Tetcho?? Just anything and everything that comes to your mind whether it be about the way he’s written by Asagiri, or anything really lol because I have a feeling you really like him
Tumblr media
I want to save this for Wednesday but if anything major changes (probably will. Everyday I thank bones for making him their fave) ill add more cause AHGGGHGGHG this man....
Not enough Tecchou lovers out there. Asagari hasn't said anything on his backstory and I'm waiting for it so for now I'm making shit up (all I know is that IRL Tecchou was from a rich samurai family so how that ads to his character? Idk. Im sticking with child soldier tho for now one day ill write a fic)
BUT AHHHHHHHHHH OMG listen with what we DO have he's a good character. He clearly cares for his teammates, he's the person who cares about Jouno even when Fukuchi never believed in him being a good person (thats actually upsetting af but Tecchou is a real one for seeing Jouno for who he is)
HE LOVES ANTS AND RESPECTS LUCY BECAUSE SHE CARES ABOUT HER FRIENDS EVEN THOUGH HE GENIUENLY THOUGHT THAT THEY WERE TERRORISTS AT THE TIME !!! HES A GOOD MAN !!!
He would put those he loves above justice, the thing he put his life on the line for its crazy !!! He plays the hero, but at the end of the day, his friends and family mean more, and that's wild cause that goes against his entire thing !!!
Literally, even though he hasn't been in the series long for what we do have so far, I can't help but like him, idk what it is about him but he's a likable character for me
Tumblr media
Sometimes I like to think about him and cry like the loser I am. Anyway.
Since this is my soap box moment for talking about Tecchou and all my thoughts I need to add a theory here - he quite possibly is a foil for Fukuchi
Fukuchi was in the war and saw soldiers die for one another in horrific ways that no one should see - it changed him. He told Fukuzawa that he never wanted to see that horror again.
But Tecchou is clearly thay same soldier again, what he WANTED to prevent from happening, who is willing to die for his comrades in war no matter what
LIKE FUKUCHI MADE A WHOLE ASS FAMILY WITH THE HUNTING DOGS AND THEN DESTROYED IT IN THE SAME WAY HE WAS TRAUMATIZED BY. LIKE WTF
But unlike Fukuchi, I don't think Tecchou would become a monster. He still has some semblance of humanity. He can remove himself from his sense of 'justice' and care about those around him.
It's a ramble but I like to think there's a Tecchou v Fukuchi fight coming up eventually and Tecchou would win. CAUSE ITS SO NOT FAIR THAT HE KILLED HIS COMRADES TURNED THEM INTO VAMPIRES AND THEN GETS AWAY WITH IT CAUSE OF A TIME SWORD LIKE WHAT
Anyway that is another ramble but I love him, he and Jouno are among my favs cuz they're so silly and I think have some deeper character development that might be explored later in the series. I'm praying and hoping every chapter that they come back.
Pleaaaasssseeeeeeeeeee asagari LIKE IM BEGGING YOU I HAVE FAITH IN THEM
Anyway I'll possibly add on later but anon ily I'm giving you many air kisses mwah
Tumblr media
My last thoughts on Tecchou. Why isn't he real bro
Also omg I could write a full length novel on him cause this man must be immaculate. Idc if he isn't real I'm gonna make shit up about him. I'm delulu craycray a freak a weirdo !!

Are there any conspiracy theories about the Deep City?
Hope you don't mind the length of this. It got out of hand real fast XD
Host 1: Hello and welcome back to another episode of 'Ghost Stories'. Your friendly podcast where we talk about all things spooky and mysterious in Lucis. My name is Idona.
Host 2: My name is Silvestre, and if you actually call me that, good on you. Today's episode is especially spooky, since it takes places in our own wonderful crown city Insomnia.
Idona: Uuuhhhhhh. I always love those.
Sil: Yeah. One would think we would get more of those, but apparently our dear listeners like to hear about the outside world.
Idona: Which makes episodes like this all the more exciting!
Sil: Absolutely. I mean, who would want to hear about the outside, if you have such a treasure trove right in front of your doorstep? Do you know how old Insomnia is? Older than dirt. It always makes me wonder how many stories are really buried here.
Idona: You know, current theory is that Isnomnis is most likely older than Lucis. Dear old Somnus probably saw a reasonably sized city and renamed it.
Sil: Huh.
Idona: Anyway! What's the story that has been brought to us this time?
Sil: Oh, it's great. You're gonna love it. Ghosts in the old aqueducts!
Idona: A proper ghost story! How wonderful. It's been so long since we've had one of those.
Sil: The last Insomnian ghost story we talked about here was the one with the red capped spirits that steal people away, right? Or was it the one about the guy who turned up a hundred years ago with no identification papers whatsoever, spoke only a strange dialect of Old Lucian and then vanished without a trace?
Idona: I think it was the latter. Still convinced the other one were just weird debt collectors.
Sil: Probably, yeah. I mean all of their known victims were poor people with huge debts, so...
Idona: Still a crime though.
Sil: You know, we should probably get started on this week's story. Otherwise our runtime will only be filled with senseless ramblings.
Idona: Sil, our runtimes are always filled with senseless ramblings. But take it away.
Sil: Okay, so. This story came to our ears thanks to one of our listeners. She wishes to remain anonymous, but she wrote us that her cousin works for the WSD, the Water Sanitary Department for those who don't know. Said cousin is responsible of keeping the old waterlines up and running.
Idona: Wow, stop. Are you telling me that we aare still using those? The youngest ones of the old waterlines are at least a thousand years old! At least!
Sil: Well, the old Lucians must have builld things to last. And if it ain't broke, why fix it?
Idona: You just sounded so Leidean.
Sil: Why, thank you. My ancestors would be proud. So, Anon's cousin is down there, doing his job of looking at stones as old as dirt to make sure nothing will come crumbling down, when all of a sudden he heard a strange noise.
Idona: Was it voices? It's always voices.
Sil: Got it in one. The cousin heard voices whispering in strange tongues. Of course he goes closer, since no one but him is supposed to be down there. Gotta warn those people away and all that. But as he walked around the corner, his torch goes out and he hears a strange humming.
Idona: Go on. This is getting good.
Sil: Just wanted to see, if you had something to say. Anon's cousin is understandably freaked out by all of this. But still he calls out, because he just knows someone is there. Which is when he starts seeing strange, glowing shapes in the pitch dark.
Idona: I wish I had been there! This is turning out to be one of the most amazing eyewitness accounts for ghostly activity!
Sil: Yeah, but sadly there's not much more to it.
Idona: Awww.
Sil: Because at this point Anon's cousin runs back the way he came, totally freaked out by all of this. Thankfully his torch turned back on not long after and all he had was a shock and a few scrapes and bruises from running in the dark.
Idona: That's a relief.
Sil: You don't look relieved.
Idona: Well, he could have at least tried to communicate with the ghosts. Just imagine what we might have learned from them!
Sil: Or Anon would now have a dead cousin.
Idona: Or that, yeah.
Sil: But we're still not quite at the end of this little story. One day later Anon's cousin comes back to the place with two others. They find nothing there but some freshly carved symbols on the wall.
Idona: What did the symbols look like?
Sil: Here. Anon's cousin copied them down for us.
Idona: Huh. I feel like I've seen those before.
Sil: What? Really?
Idona: Yeah, I mean, my mum is a historian specialising in Insomnia's earlier history. She's been trying to get permission to go to the lowest levels for basically half her life now, but gets denied every time. Apparently it's too unsafe down there. I feel like I've seen something similar to those symbols in one of her books before.
Sil: You know, hearing that, I can't help but wonder how safe the structural integrity of Insomnia actually is.
Idona: Oh Astrals, don't make me think about that! This gives me some real existential angst.
Sil: ...
Idona: Now you get it.
Sil: Aaaanyway. What did you think of this week's story, folks? Please leave your comments on our mog page or leave a small donation at our crown-cast page.
Idona: Donators can bring stories to our attention - much like this one - have access to all our episodes two days early and can participate in live FAQs once a month.
Sil: Thank you all for listening. And remember:
Idona: The world is scarier than you think it is.

Alrighty, so because I am 110% in denial of Dick's death, this was the first scene that I wrote after watching the Army of the Doom Star for The Wicker Man. This scene is going to come way later in the fic, so if you don't want the spoiler, you have been warned. But if you don't mind reading ahead, I FIXED THE SCENE THAT I REFUSE TO ACCEPT HAPPENED and it's under the cut.
I wanted to post this now while there is so much AOTD hype and while all my fellow Knubbler lovers are basically in mourning. It features my OC Lucy as part of it, depending on whether or not y'all like OCs.
Mmkay, I'm rambling, here it be below the cut (622 words):
Lucy could barely process what was happening. She was already on high alert from the explosion. They needed to get out of there and fast. Then she saw the protective screen go up in front of them, and everything almost slowed down. Dick didn’t have a screen in front of him, his was glitching out. ‘Who in the fuck designed this anyway?! Why is he way out there and not in here with us?! Why isn’t there a forcefield in front of him?!’
Dick looked down at the screen glitching out and then at the helicopters. He sighed, but he knew that this was a possibility. At least he had protected the band. He had done his part. And at least he had protected his kitten. He turned around with a resigned smile, wanting her to be the last thing that he saw. In this fiery hellscape, he could die seeing the one woman who had managed to break down his walls without even trying. He could still die seeing something beautiful.
Nathan and Lucy were nowhere near as calm as Dick at that moment. Nathan was punching the forcefield trying to get to him. Lucy ran over to it and threw herself against it. When that didn’t work, she started punching and clawing at it herself. Then it seemed as though she and Nathan were on the same wavelength because the two of them screamed in unison. For once though, Lucy’s was louder than Nathan’s. It was the most haunting, bone chilling scream that she had ever let loose. More haunting than any of the screams that she had ever let out on an album, or trying to wake herself from any of her worst nightmares. It could have woken the dead. Pickles looked on, horrified at the entire situation.
The missiles were launched. Dick said ‘I love you,’ and braced himself for impact. Through tears, Lucy said ‘I love you’ back. Then, the glitching suddenly stopped, and the forcefield shot up just in time to avoid the impact of the missiles. Dick was alive.
Lucy could have fainted if the situation weren’t so serious. She screamed, ‘Get in here!’
Dick didn’t need to be told twice. He pressed the buttons to let the forcefield down to the inside briefly, the outside one still working for the moment, and bolted inside, just in case they decided to shoot again and the outside one gave out for real. The forcefield went back up after he walked through it.
He looked at Lucy, “Looks like the protective pendant you gave me worked, baby, I’m-“ Lucy was on him in seconds. She was a whirlwind of emotions and she did something that she never would have normally done: She slapped him across the face mid-sentence.
Dick was shocked, but the sting was making him feel alive. “Ah, fuck babe, you wanna get to the kinky-“ Dick was cut off by her grabbing his robes and pulling him in for a furious kiss. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her in close, still stunned that he was even around to feel her at all. And fuck, did she feel amazing.
She pulled away, “You stupid bastard, don’t you ever fucking do something like that again!” She kissed him again, and then said, “Thank you for saving us, you absolute fucking asshole. I love you so much, how dare you try to make me live the rest of my life without you?!”
Dick smirked at her, kiss drunk and running on adrenaline, “I’m just a gear in the wheel of the Klok, babe.” She glowered at him, but he kissed her forehead, and she softened slightly, grateful to whatever force happened to save him.

For the shipping ask game. Fuck it. What are we thinking of what happened between Fanny and Humphrey's body in the show.
mind instantly went to this post, except replace pussy with fanny for full comedy potential. anyway: literally all she needed to do was ask his head. he doesn't seem to particularly like fanny (understandably!), but i don't think that he would be too bothered if she just a) asked him first or b) kept his head on. and, like, humphrey would be a very sweet lover. there is nothing to lose here. unfortunately, that's not what happened, and what happened was pretty shitty to humphrey. (rewatching that bit at the end of i love lucy hurts... he's clearly hurting and trying not to cry and yet nobody comforts him. reminds me of the thomas thorne affair, but i won't ramble about thomas here.) fanny and humphrey have quite a lot in common, but instead of finding common ground, fanny used him for her own gain and then betrayed his trust, which *coughs* the bone plot *coughs*. like, please just shag julian instead. he's morally bankrupt, he has great thighs, and he can actually consent! perfect for fanny. i'm not even joking here.

omg ur ask abt brando lucy dacus being pierresteban combined with ur fic has made me like. not be able to listen to the song normal HAHAHA like
youre yelling at me stella and im laughing cause you think youre brando but youll never come close - SO PIERRE. SOOO him being like, up himself in that way (affectionate) and esteban being more grounded about how he perceives not only pierre but them together
you admit you think we're fated, ill be lucky if im your third wife - just like... i think that pierre thinks a lot about fate, and meant to be, and his own faith, and how that translates into like his own view of the world and relationships. and esteban again, looking at the relationships pierre is having with people (piarles...) and also downplaying himself because WAAAH
thats only something you would say in the car we've been breathing the same air for too long - i can almost like. karting to present, sharing spaces, being in too long road trips together, but also obviously 'say in the car' their racing career, breathing the same air (same spaces, same career paths) for too long, the inherent like clashing in their relationship, but also the acknowledgement kind of that... it will pass???
obviously the chorus. OBVIOUSLY THEM
"would it have killed you to call me pretty instead" so many thoughts about this. so many
if the snow wasn't coming down so hard i would open the door and walk home its only a couple miles - i can literally see them becoming frustrated with each other like this and they're both too stubborn to back out of it now, especially as adults with all their history... SCREAM!!!! completely overcome, worms in my brain
every single song off lucy dacus' home video needs a fic to it I'm not kidding in the slightest. and first time needs at least two (starfish on the kitchen floor and TBD but it's on my mind). Ok under the cut cuz long rambly answer
i do think Lucy's narrator in her songs has a remarkable bite to her perspective which i really appreciate here. like. the idea of this guy - thinking he's great acting so cool and then realizing later it's just because she's young and he wasn't any different than anyone else. that perspective cuts i think because we've all - outgrown people like that, right? and it works well despite not being a direct parallel. she captures these emotions that are so universal with such specific detail.
fate... oh fate. i do think religion is one of my fav themes/topics in writing and fic is no exception. i think with pierre i do have a slight aversion just because of my own lack of familiarity with French Catholicism and like. I don't really want to learn? So it's sort of like. How do you play in a way where it's clearly meaningful but not disrespectful and so on. Hence my tendency towards Esteban POV as well. Anyway. The idea that - fate is the only thing that can bring them together, not choice, is a fascinating one. Especially if you sort of go - esteban and pierre were fated to fall out and fated for Alpine and Charles is il predestinado but pierre and Charles choose each other. How does that all fit?
I like your interpretation of the car like a lot!! I've definitely never thought of it like that. You really can taste the stale air of a car ride - of a relationship - that's gone on too long. And it will pass... It will!!
the snow.... not to being it back but... fate again. What must the circumstances demand of you... I will say this segment "what could go wrong.... who doesn't know left from right from wrong" is one of my favorite little bits of a song I love completely and entirely.
I accept and thank you for your brain worms. We both know I have them too!!

hi!! i know you get a lot of music recs but i thought i might just add some of my own too bc i love the dear reader series sm and literally cannot stop connecting songs to it 😭
'favor' by julien baker is maybe a bit depressing but also some of the lyrics just seem so nico, like 'turns out that all my friends were trying to do me a favour' and saying how hard it is to be tender and all (i feel like she has a lot of depressing songs which could be past nico-coded but not so much with his mental health getting better??)
but also more positively 'free treasure' by adrianne lenker which doesn't super feel like nico's style in terms of melody but the lyrics kind of fit to me, with things like 'you show me understanding, patience and pleasure' and 'just when i thought i couldn't feel more, i feel a little more'
also (last one!!) 'it'll all work out' by phoebe bridgers i can kind of see as nico either to bianca or to himself pre-transition - just kind of sad but healing at the same time
thank you for letting me ramble!! i love your work <3
AHHSDF YAY MORE SONG RECS sorry it took so long to get to listening to these but i'm here!!!
i swear julien baker (as well as lucy dacas) are artists that i keep telling myself i need to listen to bc i do love a lot of phoebe bridgers and boygenius songs and yet i never have😭 I WILL THIS SUMMER god i actually need to make a list of discographies to binge it's just hard forcing myself to listen to new musiclksjfd
but anyway onto the songs!!
you are SO real about depressive songs being so nico, and honestly even though his mental health is getting better, the problems don't always go completely away! i think it's very natural for him to still have those depressive songs, because like, he is still struggling with depression and ptsd and definitely still has bad days, and uses music as a way to vent :/
as for favor, these lyrics are SPOT ON but what stood out even more was the production on first listen, like it's such a nico coded song from everything from the lyrics to the production and i just love it?? god i have a playlist of songs that i want to add to albums and this is going straight there, at this point i have so many songs that i don't have the timespan to possibly have nico release all of them but i'll just keep in mind for possible future playlists😭😭 i absolutely love that one!! the lyric you pointed out is literally so real, and also "how long do i have until /i've spent up everyone's goodwill?" is just SO nico coded oh my god😭it's definitely him in high school coded, just thinking every now and then of like why he ended up where he did :/ and "who put me in your way to find? what right had you not to let me die?"LKSDJFDSJF IM SO OBSESSED WITH THIS NOW WTF im gonna keep listening to it all day and stressing over which possible album i could fit it in because i'm like out of room but also aghsldkfjsldf it needs to go somewhere
anyway. NEXT ONE
these lyrics😭😭i wanna cry this is just him finally feeling comfortable and happy and content with his life and with will and AHGSLDFJ THAT MAKES ME SO HAPPY "we're sitting on the kitchen floor / just when i thought i couldn't feel more / i feel a little more" LIKE. THEY'RE JUST. SOULMATES. I LOVE THEM. AND I LOVE THIS.
(just scrolled back up and saw that that was the lyric that you put into the ask and that was a total coincidence but just goes to show your idea was absolutely perfect like spot on)
now onto phoebe!! i've listened to stranger in the alps a few times but i don't think i heard this one before which is odd, but then again i don't listen to phoebe as much as i'd like :/
but holy shit. i wish i heard this earlier. this one is 100% going on an album i just need to figure out which one bc it's literally perfect wtf. "when she needed me i wasn't around" talking abt when bianca died and he wasn't there, and then "now the wind is high and the rain is heavy" the RAINSDLFJ all i can think abt is nico thinking abt bianca when his dad died and the same sorta situation :// "never goes away, but it all works out" is just him finally trying to work through the trauma over the years and him finally coming to a time of like sort of peace? and contentedness in his life??
also idk why but my first thought at the lyric of "better off with him than here with me" was hearing it as "better off with Him" as in like referring to god and heaven, "than here with me" :(( i know that's 100% not the og meaning but that's how i initially interpreted it (bc i was already thinking of biancaksljdf) and probably how i'll continue to see it😭😭
anyway these were SUCH beautiful recs omg thank you so so much <333 i shall now scour through my playlists to try and find spots for them!!! worst comes to worst i'll have to move a few other songs into being unreleased songs, or singles, and maybe make a playlist of unreleased songs, and another for singles, we'll see!

Oh.
Just remembered something just as on the spooks scale as demons/daemons. But first and foremost, a paragraph forward of this particular "book" light novel style. Then a rough subject paragraph on the current topic... Then.... I dunno. There's the rambling. Just cope ok? I can't research beyond my own mind atm. But that'll be fixed soon.
I think we need to think about the current state of affairs to provide us with modern thinking, before we can examine the past. So, the things current Christians are suppose to believe in. So that means we get to talk Angels! They're in the currently accepted old and new testament after all. Some descriptions are rather... Descriptive? Heh. So i think we should look at them first. The named and the types. Not to mention ask artists to either draw their idea or ask artists that have drawn stuff if I can use their images. <There's drawings/digital art/romance era paintings etc by some great artists and Limited Artificial Intelligence artists. Fuck you! They're artists! It's just a medium man, you try and get what they create. You can't. Because you can't work in that medium and make what they do!>... Now. The rambling begins.
Modern Christianity eh? Always holding reverence for the holy, but scary af entities but completely ignore the "other side" that actually have some more less scary beings. I guess they go for "shock and awe" method rather than talk about the causes of the pain and suffering or the occupants of Hell that fight in the "Eternal War". (Pretty certain that's still referred to in current Cannon).. But they only mention Lucy.
All the forces of heaven cannot pummel a single entity? Bullshit. You know it, i know it but they never question why Lucy and especially Hell, still exists.
Limbo? Yup. They're on mostly the same page on that. A "no man's" zone where those not baptised but not condemned to Hell are deprived from the glory of heaven.... Aka christened belief is this: you may be a good person but you're going to suffering in solitude, without love, hate, pain nor light/darkness... Just no reason for being with no way to change your situation. For "The Eternity". Ultimately, to be condemned to be swallowed by the "nothing". Leaving a husk that has no thought, no memory, no ego or id.
Pretty much a worse fate than suffering in the depths of Hell where the self still exist.
Better to join the flock and be evil than not to believe in their cruel deity it seems.
Anyways. I'm rambling. I've got stuff to do. I so desperately need a station to do research, draw, weave tales of holy and unholy horror, joy, love, hate and neutrality. Currently everything is done on my phone. Not suitable at all! These fun topics require a proper place to be written and not have autocorrect mess with it. Nor me accidentally dragging paragraphs. Stupid app.
Later fellow freaks! Ghost fans will like this first subject i think. It's why they condemn us. Why we don't deserve love or a moral compass.... Crazy people, yeah?
....
Oh! Wait! Hey! Don't go! Not yet! I just remembered something crazy! A little morsel that Ghost fans and fun people will love!... and to finalise my crazed ranting.
Some interpretations by highly regarded Christian scholars have legit reasoning to believe that "Baʿal Zebub" is calling Lucy, "Of dung", aka calling Lucy a piece of shit. It seems the words of holy inspiration isn't below digging deep with their insults towards The Adversary.
Ok. Rambling mode off. I'm gonna still annoy Ghost fans more and tag stuff inappropriately. Heh
I hope the app hasn't screwed this up or i wrote something wrong... Bloody phones.

𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐬.  she/her
𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. DMs, I have discord, but I'm slow af there
𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐞(𝐬). Lucy Thornton (@songbirdsandsugar) and probably on my multi (@cfgcdsandmcnsters) currently its The Painted Doll, but Helen Shivers and Marilyn Munster are pretty active too.
𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞/𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 (𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐬/𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬?). since 2012ish
𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐯𝐞 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝. tumblr mostly, a little bit of discord when i remember to check it.
𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞.  Meeting my bestie and developing massive worlds where OCs and canons alike from various media interact with each other and creating all our little families.
𝐫𝐩 𝐩𝐞𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐬 / 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬.  Pushing ships or other things that I'm not comfortable with if I've already said no to it. Only wanting to write with my muses because of who their FC is. Not reading about my muses (especially the OCs and the ones that specifically say they are very canon divergent.) I had someone respond to my 5'9" muscle-bound, dude slamming OC by calling her a pipsqueak.....like tell me you don't know anything about her without telling me you don't know anything about her. And on Lucy specifically, people infantilizing her. It hasn't happened in awhile, but there was someone that treated her like a child simply because she's so petite and they ignored what I wrote about my muse and treated her as if she was her FC.
𝐟𝐥𝐮𝐟𝐟, 𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐬𝐭, 𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐦𝐮𝐭. I don't mind writing smut if its someone I'm comfortable with OOC. I don't usually write it just for the hell of it either though. Mostly fluff & angst. Give me feels.
𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐬. Memes are the easiest way to start stuff with me/for me to approach you. I'm a terrible plotter unless we've had a couple of interactions and have a dynamic going between the muses. Though if someone has an idea I more than welcome it.
𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬.Either. Most of my replies probably fall somewhere in between. I'm all about quality over quantity. I'm not really into the whole "match my length" thing because at times I can really ramble and the words just flow out. And other times my replies can be more to the point. As long as I have something my muse can really chew on, I don't care how much my writing partner writes.
𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞.  Lately I haven't been writing as much as I'd like, but I probably do most of my writing at night anyways.
𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐞(𝐬). Pretty much every single one of my muses has gone through some type of trauma, so yeah....I definitely tend to pick muses I can relate to to some degree.
