favourite colour: Red, I love the colour red and will always pick it above anything else, pink and purple are closeseconds but Red is where it’s at~

favourite flavour: Ginger, ever since i was little it has always been my fav. grom gingerale to ginger cookies I just love the stuff.

favourite music: So I almost exclusively listen to video gaem soundtracks and jpop. every once in a while I try to listen to current/popular music and most of it just sounds like droning noise to me... every once in while i’ll hear something and be like this is greta but yeah... mostly jpop and game/anime soundtracks for me...

favourite movie: Princess Bride, people think I am kidding when I say this and I assure you I am not. I love that film with every fiber of my being and could probably recite the whole thing from start to end with only minor mistakes cause I have easily watched it far too many times.

favourite series: gunna take a page from floofy. Games it’s easily Ys or Kiseki, maybe a slight nod to Ys but I really love both. Anime: I have a few but as to not repeat myself in a second I’ll say Natsume Yuujinchou. Book: Ascendance of a bookworm, I just love everything about it from the character and story growth to the world building to the fact we get a volume every other month.

last song: According to Itunes it’s Sunnyboy Rainygirl by Daoko which was an album i got cause she did music for dragalia and I was sad the game i loved was being shut down.

last movie: uhhhhh.... I watched a little bit of groundhog day with the family but the last film I watched was No Way Out with Kevin Costner. it was on the movie chanel and really enjoyable.

currently reading: It’s technically re-reading but Ascendance of a bookworm part 3 vol 1. I had read it before on kindle but now i have the physical book so i had to reread~

currently watching: ........ *sighs* too much... ok On crunchyroll: The tale of outcast, saving 80 000 gold in another world for my retirement (may drop), Legend of heroes: trails of cold steel northern war, Sugar apple fairy tale (fav this season so far), The magical revolution of the reincarnated princess and the genius girl, campfire cooking in another world with my absurd skills, welcome to demon school iruma kun, chilling in my 30s after getting fired from the demon kings army, Neir: automata ver 1.1a, bungo stray dogs s4, buddy dadies, trigun stampede, revenger and eventually the misfit of demon king academy (may drop) and by the grace of the gods season 2 (may drop)....... then on hidive: is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon season 4 (also highly recommend the LN for this even if it’s embarrassing to say one of your fav series has such a bad title) The latest on tsundere villian liselotte and eventually tsurune 2, i’m avoiding starting sequels right now cause i am watching WAY to much... i never watch this much in a season normally it’s like 4-7 shows...

currently working on: I’m planning an ambitious felt of my oc Ciella, thinking about some stands to make and then wait for a zap sale and then maybe throw some valentines art on the pile cause i just have nothing to do apparently

If I may go on about Luke Castellan for a moment... (and no, not in a simp kinda way but genuine book discourse this time)

SPOILERS FOR PJO AHEAD IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE BOOKS CLICK OFF NOW!!!

Something I realized the other day is that Luke himself was... never actually evil. Let me explain.

Everything Luke did was for the betterment of his life and the life of his peers. He wanted to make a better world for his kind (his kind being demigods everywhere), the goal was never some cartoonish supervillain plot of "taking over the world". He wanted to overthrow the gods so that no demigod would be ignored, neglected, abused and used ever again. That's why he did what he did.

Luke is all about the greater good. You could even make an argument for him being morally gray (meaning he doesn't care about "right" or "wrong", he only cares about his own interests and cause). He would murder the twelve year old kid he just met for the sake of bettering the entire world for good. Killing Percy would suck, yes, but in Luke's eyes, it has to be done. (Enter: the pit scorpion.)

Luke did many, many, bad and even evil things, yes. But a lot of that was under the guidance or even control of Kronos. Kronos, who was inherently evil. When we meet Luke in TLT, he's already under the influence of Kronos, and he's already scared to disobey, and he won't. Not just because he's scared, but because he truly believes in the cause he thinks he's fighting for, and because he trusted Kronos.

That's what all of this is really about. Luke put his trust in the wrong place. Kronos promised him what he wanted, yes, but was he ever going to actually give it to him? No. That's actually something I think the movies did pretty well was emphasize Kronos not actually caring about Luke or his cause, only caring about rising into power. Using him, just like the gods always had.

Luke was desperate and foolish, yes, but he himself was not evil. This is why he's able to kill himself and end the war with Kronos. He's able to regain that control and make that decision and be the hero, all because he himself is still good, despite it all. He can see what he did was wrong and does the only thing he can to fix it. He still wanted to do the right thing in the end.

Was Luke justified in his actions? Absolutely not. But was he justified in the way he felt, and what he wanted? Yes.

His whole life all he'd ever done was care for others. His mom, Thalia, Annabeth, the entirety of cabin 11, siblings or not. All of camp, really. And even though he was wrong about how he did it, him trying to overthrow the gods was for them, too. Was it a bit for himself and out of anger? Yeah, definitely. But he wanted a better life for the others, and that's why he pushed so hard for Annabeth and Thalia to join him. For his siblings and camp friends to join him.

He was misguided and put his trust in the wrong place out of desperation, but everything he did, the cause he fought for, was out of good intentions and maybe a bit of justified anger.

Y'all wanted the presentation? Here's the presentation. Image descriptions are below the cut!

(technically this wasnt part of the assignment, which was "write an essay and read at least one full page to the class" so the reason why there's those huge blocks of text is because that is taken directly from the essay. i can condense things if I WANT to condense them)

A connection called a “Cognate Bond” is often referred to in the text as the closest two elves can become, emotionally and mentally. Cognates exist when two Telepaths (such as Sophie) have such a deep and unbreakable trust bond that they become more skilled together than they were apart. In creating and maintaining this bond, they have to complete trust exercises and not hold back secrets keeping them from total confidentiality. Sophie’s cognate is her friend (and love interest, and, debatably, ex-boyfriend) Fitz, whose romantic relationship was in a large part focused on their cognate one. Their trust exercises involve staring into each other’s eyes, holding hands, having matching rings, and Fitz telling Sophie that she’s the only person he can truly trust. Fitz also asks his father at one point if cognates are allowed to date each other— his father affirms the statement."

Slide Six: Titled "Queer-Coding: Qualden, Tiertice, and such other 🤨🏳️‍🌈 moments" with the text, "Notably, Alden has the authority to do so since he himself was a cognate, only undergoing a nasty breakup— sorry, only losing the bond after his cognate, Quinlin, kept too many secrets. It’s implied that two other characters were once almost Cognates, only to grow too far apart when one of them, Prentice, has his sanity forcibly shattered and is locked in prison, leaving his (gay lover) best friend, Tiergan (code name Granite), to raise his son. The choice to parallel Fitz/Sophie, Alden/Quinlin, and Tiergan/Prentice was possibly not a conscious one, since Messenger has never attempted to hint at the existence of homosexuality before, but it still resonates with hundreds of queer teen readers who look at the portrayal of utter devotion and trust between two men and think, wow. this is what i see in myself." The image is a quote from Neverseen, reading "'What did you give him?' Granite asked, cradling Prentice like a baby. Prentice's head lolled to the side, his body limp and pale." / "Granite held Prentice tighter, whispering, 'It's going to be okay.'"

Slide Eight: Titled "Beauty Standards" with text reading "Speaking of things Shannon Messenger did subconsciously, it’s so painfully clear that this series was written by a white American woman that it makes me break out in hives. Messenger establishes very early on in the series that all elves, no matter who they are, are gorgeous in comparison to humans. For some reason that I’m sure has no correlation to Sophie and therefore Messenger’s personal biases (aka Western hetero/cisnormativity and gender roles), every single elven character is slim with clear skin and no glasses. For some reason, beards seem to be impossible for elves to grow naturally, since the only time facial hair ever appears on anyone’s face is when they take an elixir to change their appearance." An image of Sophie with her human family is captioned "Sophie with her ugly nasty disgusting human family apparently".

Slide Nine: Text reading "Valin is a member of “the drooly boys” who, had they been “human, would’ve been skinny, with acne and braces. Since they were elves, they were fairly good-looking—or they could’ve been if they hadn’t slicked their hair into greasy ponytails” (Messenger KOTLC 170). It seems elves have evolved past the need for brown eyes, acne, crooked teeth, facial hair beyond eyebrows, and variations in body fat—not to mention most other features that make people unique. There is indeed a single elf who is fat and even has wrinkles (elves also don’t physically age past 30, fun fact). He alters his appearance with berries that swell his skin, making him the only unique body type besides Sophie’s human family, who are consistently thrown in terrible comparison to her new, movie-star-looking adoptive parents. The berries also make him smell, interestingly enough." Images of Councillors Zarina, Terik, and Clarette line the right side of the slide.

Slide Ten: Text reading: "By portraying the elves as the standard for beauty and then removing any pimple, stretch mark, fat roll, body hair, crooked tooth, big nose, or any of the thousands of features that add depth to faces and bodies, Messenger tells us that perfection lies in eliminating all “flaws.” She tells her young readers that they are desirable if they look like Sophie, or Biana, or Keefe—not Stina with her curly hair, or Dex’s too-skinny arms, or Forkle’s large stomach, or my human body." The family portrait of the Vackers is also there.

Slide Eleven: Text reading: "Mostly, what defines KOTLC is how it’s interpreted rather than the content itself. I look at Sophie Foster and see parts of myself, but that does not make her me. These characters always feel so painfully real, desperately relatable, as if Messenger cobbled together a main cast from bits of my life, but they are not. In the end, they are just characters. In the end, it’s just a series made for middle schoolers, in the same way the sun is just the sun, and the stars are just there to twinkle merrily and not to be explored." Sophie on the cover of Exile is also there.

Slide Twelve: Text reading "Literally the day after I finished this presentation a new Marella short story came out in the paperback version of Stellarlune (book 9). This is a quote in the short story:" with a picture of the short story of Marella being gay about Linh. How long do you typically spend on a drawing? Of the ones you've posted, which took the longest? Which was the quickest?

It really depends on what I'm drawing and how "finished" I do them

For example these kind of skectches don't really take me much time to do (specially when the poses are very simple), I can do a bunch of these in a few minutes no problem, then there are the ones when I add grayscale or colors that take a little longer

Then there is this kind of drawing that are finished with lineart, colors and shadows but each of them took me a different amount of time

The Gemini one took me hours to make (how many I dont really remember) I spent a lot of time on the sketch mostly because I was trying to figure out how Leo's arm worked, then spend around 3hrs doing lineart and chossing the base colors, and I had to do it twice because...

The bottom left with Coin Toss Michael, took me less, even when it was a challenging pose I managed to figure that out quick enough, the most time consuming part were the chains because I hand drew them. I don't remember how long it took me to do but I did it in one or two sittings, probably took me aorund 5 hours to make (and maybe thats too much, might have been less)

And the bottom right was a fast one too, probably managged to do it in under 3 hours (I think the hardest part was to match proportions with Trainee that is cropped out)

And then there is things like this, I actually have the proccess recorded (minus the sketching and planning) and can tell you that it took me around 15 hours to make these two pages (I might one day edit that and make a speed draw)

But again, it really depends on what I'm drawing because this commission (that aparently I haven't posted yet) that I also have some of the proccess recorded, it took me around 2:30 hours to do inks, colors and shading

Most of the time I dont really time myself, when I know more exact times are when I record my screen for future speed draw videos (that I always forget to edit) or because I was watching something in the background so I know it took me X amount of movies or episodes or youtube videos so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Oh! there is also this lil animation I did that took me 4 hours, I only know that because it says so in my tags

hi tumblr I am, as many people are, going fucking insane over the silly little vampire man. I was encouraged to post some thoughts I had about him so uh here you go!!

Pre-vampire Astarion had a different kind of style. Different color preferences, clothing, patterns, hair.

Game era Astarion got off the nautiloid like that - which means we can assume he got taken like that - which means we can assume that’s not a style he’s chosen himself but a visual identity he’s been forced into for 200 years that he hasn’t yet found the ability to change

Even when he kills Cazador. There’s not a Shadowheart-esque moment of changing his appearance to reflect his development even though his appearance can be tied even more to the trauma he’s trying to overcome than Shadowheart’s can

Because he’s spent so long not able to be his own person. Not allowed to find his own tastes. There isn’t some identity lurking beneath the facade, waiting to break forth. Cazador broke him down, hollowed him out, made sure there was nothing except what Cazador wanted him to be

So some time post-game.. it starts slowly. He changes his hairstyle first. His family (they are still alive, they’re elves, fight me about it) tries to lay out clothes for him that used to suit his tastes but he doesn’t feel right putting them on it. It’s not the same kind of performative that Cazador demanded from him, but it feels performative all the same. He goes shopping around, he strays from anything similar to what he would have worn during the Cazador era or during his lifetime. For a while it’s anything that catches his eye, trying out whatever he realizes he likes. Sometimes it ends up a little silly. But eventually he does settle into his preferences. Finally something uniquely him, who he’s become and what he’s decided to like.

The symbolic change of a character’s visual design, but it takes years, maybe even decades

#if there was a coherent point to this I lost it quickly but I hope you enjoyed the ramble anyway #I just. think about him so much.#and I’m a huge fan of when character designs evolve alongside character development #so when there was an absolute lack of change in Astarion’s design after Cazador’s death it got my wheels spinning #there’s also something about his vain fixation on his appearance not actually being born of proper vanity #but my thoughts are too scattered to elaborate on that one rn #baldur's gate 3 #bg3 #astarion #bg3 astarion #baldurs gate astarion

baby, how'd we end up here | 15k

The firehouse always feels otherworldly when the trucks aren't in the bay. It's just one of those things. The absence of three hulking, bright red vehicles is always going to draw the eye just as much as the unmissable rigs themselves. But it's an odd feeling to walk into the station and find it devoid of it's usual chaos. It feels unnervingly calm, the moment of stillness before a bolt of lightning or the split second upon waking from unconsciousness where the pain hasn't caught up yet. It feels like anticipation and foreboding.

Buck feels it a lot more than anyone, except maybe Bobby, always arriving to work much earlier than necessary because the station feels like home in a way the loft never has. He can't count the number of times he's arrived only to find B-shift out on a call, one of three people in the firehouse—B-shift's man behind tucked away somewhere, and Bobby squirrelled away in his office to prepare for the day. It never fails to unsettle him.

Head down, Buck changes into his uniform as quickly as he can, eager to join Johnson up in the kitchen and ask Bobby if he wants a cup of coffee to accompany his paperwork. Before he can run from the glaring absence, however, Eddie pushes into the locker room with a softly hesitant smile that makes Buck's stomach fill with a whole kaleidoscope of butterflies.

"Hey, Buck," Eddie murmurs, voice still rough with the slightest edge of sleep. It sends a thrill through him.

"Morning, Eddie." Buck smiles, pulling his foot up onto the edge of the bench he's sat on to tie his laces without taking his eyes off Eddie. "You're early, what gives?" And this he can do, focus on their easy banter rather than the warning trilling away in his chest.

"I'm not that bad," Eddie insists in a grumble, an echo of a familiar argument. Buck's smile grows into a grin, twitching beyond its limits until his cheeks ache with it. Eddie turns away from his locker with something shy and hopeful shining in the depths of his eyes. "If you must know, I..." He scrunches his face up and rubs a hand over the back of his neck. "I wanted to ask you something."

"Shoot," Buck says, sounding a lot more casual than he feels.

The burning hot hand of hope clenches around his heart, searing it's mark into the muscle as it pounds a staccato rhythm against his ribs. A voice hisses all of his deepest desires out into the open, but Buck shakes them away. Eddie's probably just asking him if he wants to hang out with Christopher—except Eddie would never be so... serious about that.

(Unless he's going on another date, a crueller voice snarls in the confines of his mind.)

"Do you..." Eddie bites his lip, grip on the shirt in his hands turning his knuckles white as he frowns down at it. "Christopher has a sleepover tomorrow night," Eddie blurts out breathlessly, eyes a little wide and a lot imploring. Buck's heart races faster, the hope burns hotter, the butterflies swarm. "So, I was thinking we could get dinner." Eddie unsticks his eyes from his hands, slowly dragging them up to Buck's face, so tender and trusting that Buck aches. "Just the two of us. At that new Mexican place you wanted to try. Like..." Eddie takes a deep breath, and Buck loses all of his.

"Like a date?" Buck whispers for him

Sacred Realm updated which means im actually so excited to be making this omg

Hi there Sacred Realm fans! :D

It is I, the one who makes the analysis posts on various comics on the internet. (With permission course) Because I love doing them and they bring me joy.

If you are unaware of what Sacred Realm is, it's a Legend of Zelda AU about a new Link who gets a little medallion that makes him a badass, also it can hold the spirits of heroes from across the realms (Including my fave boy ever okay)

Before I begin, I'll get the important stuff done, This is done with permission from @zelda-the-sacred-realm, and all art from the comics belongs to the comic artist. Please do me a favour and go and check it out because it's a wonderful comic and extremely well-drawn and written.

Now, grab some popcorn, and a drink and please enjoy me rambling about a comic that I enjoy so much. :D

Lets begin!

First, some sass

Damn, possessed Link got a mouth on him. Low key I love him, he looks like he could go for round two like right now. Wouldn't be surprised if he went for the hero of time next.

My eyebrows shot up at this.

Time KNOW's

TIME KNOWS. HE KNOWS WHATEVER IS IN THE MEDALLION CAUSING THIS.

I can hear the mocking voice of Link while he is saying this. Time has experience with this particular entity before.

Okay, so here is when it gets interesting.

Possessed Link or this entity I suppose, referring to Time and in turn Hylians as 'Your Race' Tells me a couple of things.

This thing in the medallion isn't a Hylian spirit. So as much and as fun as a dark link theory is, I dont think it could be.

Time arguing that we're not perfect, again referring to Hylians sounds very much like an "I'm speaking with a god speech"

I present my theory on what is in the medallion.

An extra spirit, a god of some description, from the spirit realm. Out to get revenge on Hylians.

Time has been to the spirit realm, in his games. (I am under the assumption that those still occur in this canon please do correct me if I'm wrong here.)

I'm convinced that this thing in the medallion is a deity of some kind because of the eye colour. I can't get over it.

This style of blue, with no pupils.

We've seen it before.

On Hylia.

And here is the first time we see it on Link for comparison, With Sky's alongside him for comparison for what Hylian eyes look like.

The colour isn't exact so it can't be Hylia herself I dont think, but, i believe that there is a spirit trying to escape the sacred realm and is using Link to do it.

Okay, enough of my conspiracy theories moving on!

OH BOY I LOVE THESE PANELS

You know those scenes in video games when you're fighting off something that's trying to possess you and you have that ominous-sounding echo that seems to reverberate through your head. But is also muffled at the same time?

(If I find a game example I'll link it)

This. Put that noise you think off over this.

KICK ITS BUTT LINK GET IT, GET BACK IN HERE.

These five panels tell so much when it comes to how much effort Link has to go through to fight off the medallion possession. I wonder if its going to be easier or harder for him to fight it off as he gains spirits in the medallion.

You can really feel his struggle and I just love it. The visual storytelling is incredible in this comic and I will fan girl about it all day because I just love it so much

I'm thinking he says this to gauge just how bad this possession is. time seems like the guy who would, especially as he already seems to know what this is.

I wonder if he really is the hero of realms?

Yes, Time. Yes, he is.

The face he dosent remember any time he's possessed by the medallion is a little worrying.

Makes me think that could be used later.

Like, Link dosent remember fighting this ice comet now. What if he fights an enemy while possessed, breaks the possession then has to relearn how to defeat it because as possessed link he's not gained any information.

Man Link is a cinnamon roll sometimes and I love him dearly okay.

Wanted to doodle with some gray colors. Like make em’ feel dark- and I did this when I made the background grey since I thought it’d fit 🤷‍♀️

Peppino’s that are frustrated, I think the palette works well :] Also really like the white tank and hat how I turned them a nice grayish brownish cream color(?) I think it looks nice

Jessamine's design has always intrigued me. the stark, full black suit and tall collar are pretty obvious status symbols. black was for the longest time an incredibly expensive colour of fabric due to how difficult it was to achieve proper rich blackness during the dyeing process and the collar, while most likely just a trend in Dunwall fashion inspired by the 1890s high collars can be read as lace, especially in some concept art, which is hard to care for and needs to be starched to hell and back to keep nice and stiff for a collar like that

but what I find a lot more curious about this is that the clothes appear very much inspired by Spanish renaissance fashion

which, honestly, would make sense with the real world inspiration. 19th century was obsessed with the past, with the romanticized medieval and renaissance times, and it was quite common to see fashion inspired by times long past (I mean, just look at Worth. the man invented haute couture and there is so much influence of medieval and Elisabethan fashion in his designs). it was also a thing for rich families to just kinda... invest in recreations of historical pieces of clothing and LARP in them.

Jessamine's clothes, in particular, reminded me of Spanish court dresses. especially of the portraits of Anne of Austria and Elisabeth of Valois

obsessed with those slit sleeves. too bad Jessamine didn't go the extra mile to have the sleeves hang long and heavy around her arms but they were more form fitting

there is also something to be said about the tall white (possibly starched lace) collar and the style of clasps used on her clothes

the mini cape thing she has on top is more similar to the style of capes worn by men in renaissance, but yeah, of course she reminded me of a Spanish princess when this is one of the most given example portraits for this style

I wonder if this was an intentional choice on the designer's side or if they were just inspired by the revivalism present in 19th century fashion. what really makes me consider that though is that one of her earlier designs has those sleeves much, Much more pronounced and obvious

oh the things that could have been...

still, it makes me wonder: if this was intentional, what does this tell us about Jessamine, and the history of the Isles themselves?

Mercy

A/N: This little one-shot was born out of the sadness inflicted upon me by this post. So I had to make some reparations for myself, for us, and for our favorite fiend.

------

It was almost done. They had pushed back Raphael’s forces, every single one of his cambion servants dealt with, his warlock Korilla unconscious on the floor, and although they had lost Hope it had not yet dwindled in their hearts. Raphael could be bested after all.

Tav cast Hold Monster on the fiend so she and her companions could deal with the devil once and for all, on their own terms. With her Spike Growth spell Jaheira made Raphael wince from the pain the thorns inflicted upon his already battered body, unable to move.

In exhaustion he groaned at his approaching defeat: ‘I cannot lose to you. Not here. Not in my home. I cannot die!’

‘That’s it!’ Karlach called out to Tav. ‘We’re in Avernus, so if we beat him here we’ve rid ourselves of him forever.’

Once upon a time Raphael had been an imposing figure to behold, giving off an aura of invincibility and unimpeachable pride. Now he was a truly sorry sight to behold: On his knees, face bruised, his usually impeccably kept hair out of place and tinged with blood, having to welcome his death at the hands of such an unlikely party of heroes. Seeing him like this cast an uncomfortable spell of sadness over Tav’s mind. By the gods, why couldn’t he have just let them take the hammer and patiently wait to receive a more appropriate payback later?

‘Mephistopheles, hear your son!’ Raphael pleaded and suddenly Tav halted. ‘I am at your mercy – save me!’

‘Hold it,’ Tav said to Lae’zel who had drawn her bow, pointing at the weakened cambion, and although she complied, lowering her weapon, the Githyanki turned towards her with an astonished ‘What?’

Silence fell over the hall disturbed only by their heavy breathing but Tav could hear her own heart pounding louder than the drums of war as she approached the devil.

‘Um, soldier,’ Karlach said. ‘Excuse me but what in the hells are you doing?’

‘Let her have this,’ Jaheira answered in her stead. ‘She deserves to take the final blow for all his snide remarks she had to endure.’

As Tav came nearer Raphael looked up to her, his expression darkening. ‘Well, little mouse… Have you come to enjoy a closer look at my plight, finishing me off while I beg my father to save me from the hands of a few mortals?’

But she only looked down at him, not really knowing what to do or say. Raphael fully expected her to make fun of him, to take pleasure at his miserable state and even greater pleasure still at killing the half-devil who’d dared think himself superior to her. But all Tav felt at this moment was true and honest pity for Raphael. Before her laid not a fiend wanting to trick her into a shady deal, binding her soul to him for all eternity, but that other part he so dearly wished to hide, erase even: The human side of Raphael that made him fear for his life and had even prodded him to lower himself and beg his loathsome father for help. The very archdevil he wished to overthrow with the help of his chosen heroine and the Crown of Karsus.

‘He will not come, will he?’ Tav asked the half-mortal before her. ‘Your father?’

‘No,’ Raphael said, dropping his gaze. ‘You can be as sure of that as I am. I knew he wouldn’t… So go on then, do your duty.’

And Tav felt a madness wash over her as she – instead of readying her weapon, started to lower herself towards Raphael, hyper-aware of any possible movement coming from him and her companions’ eyes on her and the strange event unfolding before them. She brought her face closer and closer to his and then leaned into him as she whispered the words like a magic spell in his ear: ‘I’ll give you the crown.’

She drew back again, still crouched down before Raphael who looked at her with unbelieving eyes.

‘Pardon?’

‘You heard me, Raphael. If not even your own father will grant you mercy then I will indeed do my duty and let it be me who will.’

She produced her biggest healing potion from her pouch and tentatively held it up to Raphael’s mouth. He hesitated before taking a generous gulp from the medicine offered.

‘And why,’ he started again, ‘the crown?’ ‘See it as my own way of bringing justice to an uncaring parent. And after all this I feel like you deserve your own revenge at old Mephistopheles. It’s like I said: I think you’d make a fantastic Archdevil Supreme. A better archdevil than him anyways. As long,’ and she held up a finger at her next words, ‘as you let us go with the Orphic Hammer and keep true to your word after I hand you the crown: You will not harm an innocent mortal. After all it was a mortal to show you grace in your time of need. So, do we have a deal?’ And she lifted the spell from Raphael and extended her hand towards him.

Raphael’s face had grown softer and the hint of a smile touched his lips. ‘That we do. You’re too kind indeed, I must say.’ And as he rose he held onto her hand and helped Tav get up to her feet.

Out of the corner of her eye she could see Karlach taking a few steps forward. ‘Would you please explain to me what is going on?’

Tav nodded towards her. ‘I will. Once we get back to camp.’ And facing Raphael again she said: ‘I believe our business here is done. For now.’

‘So it seems,’ Raphael said. ‘You may leave and let me lick my wounds in peace, mouse. Upon your next visit I promise you to be the most ample of hosts and greet you as the friend I was hoping to become from the very beginning of our acquaintance. Prepare to witness the extend of my gratitude and generosity once you’ve delivered the crown into my hands. We shall wine and dine on my most lavish stock.’

He bowed to her and Tav nodded in agreement. ‘Very well. Get yourself cleaned up and take care of Korilla as well. And Raphael,’ Tav said. ‘Remember those soul coins you won from her. Never bet against me again.’
