I saw you write for Vincenzo, and I was wondering if you would consider writing something angsty centered around the reader and Vincenzo dating and she gets kidnapped by Babel's ppl and he has to rescue her? A/n: my first vincenzo request! i loved this kdrama so much man and really hope i was able to do it justice below the cut. and i really just wanna hug you for your kind words there anon. you just made my night (i'm writing this late as hell). as always, feedback is always appreciated! i may have also gone a bit overboard with the length of this one without noticing. it's always the kdrama imagines these days...

“How’s she doing?” Vincenzo asked over the phone. As much as he was trying to hide his concern for his biological mother, his tone gave away his increasing worry about her.

“She’s fine at the moment,” you said looking at the woman sitting in her wheelchair getting some fresh air. “She seems much more cheery since we took those pictures the other day.”

You turned away just barely missing the way the photograph you were talking about fell from her hands and another person - a man - approached and picked it up before striking up a small conversation with her. “She knows it’s you, you know. Why don’t you just tell her that you haven’t stopped looking over her from afar? Call her ‘Mom?’ It’d mean the world to her, you know,” you turned back hearing her laugh and noticed the man sitting on the bench next to her chatting away. Vincenzo said something that you didn’t quite catch. “Sorry, what was that?”

“I asked if you could stay with her tonight,” he repeated, voice trailing off. You could practically envision his brows furrowing. “Is everything alright?”

“Yeah…just distracted. I’ll call you back later,” you hurried not waiting for a response before marching over to Gyeongja and the unknown man. “Can I help you with something?”

The man turned to look at you, eyes widening slightly before they went back to their normal size as he rose to his feet, a smile forming on his face. “Jang Hanseok,” he said, extending his hand to you before retracting it when you didn’t take it. “The photograph fell and I simply picked it up and could help but notice how handsome her son was. You must be happy to have such a handsome boyfriend.”

“Oh she is,” Gyeongja giggled softly. “They make a good couple.”

His attention shifted from you back to her briefly before turning back to you, a strange look in his eye. It was then that you fully took him in. His skin was slightly tanned, crows feet appearing at the corners of his eyes whenever he smiled, hair perfectly styled to compliment his casual outfit, a monotone look consisting of a blazer, t-shirt, and slacks, finished with a pair of canvas sneakers, all in off-white. There was an uneasy air about him that made you nervous just being in his presence. Shivers went down your spine as the hair on the back of your neck stood up. You didn’t have a spidey sense but if you did, it would most definitely be going off like crazy right now.

The look in Hanseok’s eyes changed drastically as you continued staring at him, almost as if sensing your discomfort. You stepped closer to Gyeongja gripping the handles of the wheelchair tightly, your knuckles turning white. He smiled again, raising his brows momentarily before clearly his throat.

“Well, ladies, I have a very important appointment to get to so I’ll see you both around. I hope you get better soon,” he turned to you and stared for a moment before leaving, not looking back.

You watched him carefully before hearing a sigh and looking at the older woman as her fingers grazed over the photograph as she gazed in the direction he'd walked in.

“The poor thing. He doesn’t have a single picture with his parents. And his father never cared for him…”

Under most circumstances you would feel some form of sympathy for any one person after a comment like that, but for some reason it only sets alarms off in your head.

“It’s getting a bit cold, we should go back inside so you don’t get sick,” you said, beginning to push the wheelchair.

Your phone buzzed as you entered the hospital. Once inside an elevator you pulled it out seeing a message from Vincenzo.

I’m going to tell her tonight. I’m not missing this chance. I’ll be there later.

You smiled, sending a quick reply before shoving your phone back in your pocket as the elevator stopped and the doors opened and you headed to her room, getting her situated back in the bed and chatted with her for a while before she drifted off, you following soon after.

Mumbling from outside the door woke you from your light slumber. Carefully rising from your place in the chair you went to the door jumping back as it was opened and a man dressed in scrub entered, the guard posted outside the room being tossed inside like he weighed nothing, blood pooling on the floor underneath his head. You turned to rush to the bed to press the call button, an arm wrapping around your neck preventing you from doing so. The grip tightened as you scratched and pulled at the man’s arms, mouth opening and closing as you tried to make a sound, only for nothing to come out.

“Just pass out you bitch,” he uttered as he tightened his hold on your. You began getting light headed and fought even hard against his grip to try and break free to no avail. You began going limp in his arms as a sharp stinging sensation spread in your neck. He’d injected you with a sedative that only quickened the effects of the lack of oxygen. You finally passed out.

Quietly, he sat you next to the door, slumped against the wall and made his way over the bed, pulling on a pair of latex gloves as he stared at the old, sick, defenseless woman. She turned around slowly as she awoke, the photograph clutched to her chest.

“What’s going on?” she asked as she looked behind him seeing the bloodied floor and the seemingly dead man. Her eyes shifted to your body slumped over, not moving either but no blood.

The man rushed at her wrapping his gloved hands around her neck beginning to choke her. Her own shot up attempting to push them away with the little strength she could muster as the beeping of the heart monitor sped up. The machine flatlined as she lost consciousness after a number of minutes, arms falling away from him. Letting go, he stepped back, walking over to your body and picking you up, taking you out of the room and laying you down on the gurney he’d been using to get around without suspicion. Placing you on it, he covered you with a sheet - not noticing the shoe that had fallen off in the room. Closing the door, he began pushing the gurney away from the room nurses only giving him a spare glace.

Taking an elevator to the first floor, he pushed it out walking right past Vincenzo who didn’t spare him a second glance as he got in the elevator, a brown paper bag in hand, ready to call Gyeongja ‘Mom’ for the first time in a long, long time. To see your face as you smiled at him when he did so. Ready to be on the receiving end of a strong embrace from the two of you - the two people who truly made him feel like he had a chance at being a normal civilian.

Unbeknownst to him at that moment, none of those things would happen. Instead he’d be met with his good friend Death once more, ruining all of those plans. Police rushed past him as he neared his mother’s room. A crowd was formed outside looking in. His eyes drifted to the linoleum floor seeing the blood splatters outside. His heart rate sped up as he kept walking, pushing away a doctor to look inside, fear growing in his chest. He stood in the doorway seeing his mother’s - his mom’s - covered body laying lifeless, arm handing over the edge of the bed. You were nowhere to be seen, a stray shoe laying discarded on the floor.

The paper bag crashed to the floor just as his entire world began crashing down around him. Tears welled in his eyes as he neared the bed falling to his knees, spotting the crumpled photograph directly underneath her hand on the floor. The tears spilled from Vincenzo’s eyes as he held her wrist softly, everything hitting him and being processed through his mind. In that moment he swore he would find whoever was responsible for her death. He would find you and fight to keep you safe. He wouldn’t - couldn’t - allow you to suffer the same fate because of him.

Hanseok tore the pictures in half as he smirked after having met Myunghee’s gaze as she hung up the phone. He looked over at you sitting on the floor, your hands bound and mouth gagged, with an equally sinister grin as he tossed the pictures in your direction. They were images of Gyeongja and you in her hospital room. Neither of you were aware you were being watched. Hanseok rose to his feet, sneering in your face as he did so, before grabbing Myunghee by the hand and beginning to waltz around the room with her as they both let out manic laughs.

Tears welled in and spilled from your eyes as you realized what must’ve happened. Gyeongja must be dead. They’d killed her. They’d order for her to be murdered. And they let you live as live bait for the one person they were truly after.

Vincenzo.

Hanseok stopped dancing, laughter still falling from his lips as he looked over at you making his way to you. With brute force, he forced you to your feet, holding you up with one hand, fingers pressing painfully against your jaw and cheeks.

“You have got a temper,” he scolded. “I don’t like being ignored. But seeing as though you clearly mean something to that consigliere, I may just be able to get more than enough use out of you before throwing you away.”

Fear coursed through your veins as you looked at the eerily cheerful man. No remorse or even regret was evident, which scared you even more. This man wasn’t normal, that much was evident. And right now you really wished he was. That he would be capable of having some guilt. But you knew he wouldn’t.

“Call Hanseo and Seunghyuk,” he ordered. “We’re celebrating a victory tonight.”

“All right,” Hanseok sighed, holding a glass of liquor in his hand. “Tonight, we’re going to drink ourselves stupid.”

“Sir,” Hanseo began glazing over at you sitting on the floor beside him. “Why are you in such a good mood?”

“Because I just killed Vincenzo’s mom. And I happen to have his other most prized possession at my beck and call,” he spared you glance, hand pulling your hair roughly knocking you over. Hanseo and Seunghyuk were clearly shocked by his words. “Can you imagine? Finally reunited after 30 years, then BAM!”

“What?”

“I mean, poor guy. It must be killing him. Mother dead. Girlfriend missing,” he laughed.

Hanseo looked at you in shock, heart pounding his chest. He could allow anything to happen to you lest his own plan be ruined. Seunghyuk looked at you momentarily before looking at Myunghee, “Were you aware of this?”

“What’s wrong?” Hanseok asked. “You disappointed in me?”

“Oh, what? No, sir,” Seunghyuk stuttered, laughing hesitantly as he looked at you struggling to sit back up. “I’m worried about the consequences. That’s all. I mean, the poor girl. Can’t you treat her a bit more, humanely?”

“He’s right,” Hanseo agreed. “Why would you go and poke the bear, sir? And to treat her like this?”

Hanseok bit the inside of his cheek, staring at the two men, before looking down at you and scoffing.

“Of course you two are in agreement…since you’re such good buddies,” Myunghee commented.

“Excuse me?” Seunghyuk questioned meekly. “Just what are you saying? Hey, Ms. Choi-”

Hanseo stood up, “How dare you speak to me like that?”

“Please, I’m just stating a very simple fact.”

Hanseo huffed looking at Hanseok who couldn’t look any more disinterested in the conversation watching you struggle as he played with his glass, “Come on, sir! She’s exaggerating. He saw I was struggling with some business stuff, and he was helping me out.”

Hanseok’s gaze flitted to him almost as if daring him to keep lying to him.

“I’m afraid that doesn’t explain all your secret meetings,” Myunghee added leaning forward, her foot jutting out and kicking you. “Not to mention the meetings you’ve had with this one.”

Seunghyuk and Hanseo began arguing with Myunghee - who kept her cool - attempting to climb out of the hole they’d unknowingly put themselves in. Whilst Hanseok continued playing with the glass as he foot began tapping against your head rather harshly. You couldn’t decide whether you wanted Vincenzo to come and get you out of this situation or pray he kept his mind straight and focused on taking Babel down. But knowing him as well as you did, you already knew he’d rather get shot time and time again before allowing any of these people to get away with his mother’s murder and your kidnapping.

The three continued arguing as Hanseok forced you up and gripped your face tightly, not looking at you as he watched them go back and forth.

“You’ll all end up just like this too,” he whispered, a smirk on his face. “Just watch.”

You jumped back as a bloodied man came running through an entrance stopping the begging from Seungyuk to Hanseok to believe him as Myunghee screamed from shock. For the first time in a while Hanseok looked slightly shocked as he spotted the man, the same man who had been in the hospital room. The man you could only assume murdered Gyeongja.

He was muttering something incomprehensible to your ears before a gunshot echoed through the air, a bullet being fired into his torso. Followed by another through the back of his head. Your heartbeat sped up as you shuffled backwards attempting to distance yourself, Hanseok holding you in place. Everyone was shaking and whimpering in fear as the man’s body fell revealing Vincenzo standing there gun aimed and ready to fire another shot.

From where you were you could see the blood on his hands and face, his bruised and bloodied knuckles and cold expression reminding you just exactly who it was you were with. He never hid it from you but you’d never seen him like this - this cold. He’d never allowed you to see this side of him. Not even when you left Italy after Paulo attempted to have you both killed in his apartment.

There wasn’t a single emotion in his eyes as he stared blankly at Hanseok, gun aimed at him. He didn’t glance at you as he walked forward calmly, eyes trained on the man holding you firmly beside him. Fear settled in your stomach as you stared at the barrel that was pointed in your direction by sheer chance. He moved his arm and pointed the gun at Myunghee who cowardly fell down then to Seunghyk and Hanseo who hid behind the couch, before going back to Hanseok who continued to stare him down. His eyes flitted to yours for a split second twitching his head slightly, before going back to Hanseok’s. He began firing the gun in different directions forcing everyone to take some sort of cover - even you. Glass and porcelain shattered upon contact from the bullets. With Hanseok covering his head, you took your chance to move away from him as best as you could, struggling as you did so.

With you out of the way, Vincenzo aimed the gun once more at Hanseok as he made his way closer, giving you a chance to crawl behind him. He lowered the gun helping you stand and giving you a brief once over before turning back to the man he was there to give a message to.

“Murdering my mother…kidnapping my woman…those were unforgivable and absolutely foolish actions,” he said monotonously. “I knew that you killed countless people and even tried to kill me. Do you know why I haven’t killed you?” he paused looking at the gun. “It's a hassle.”

Hanseok looked up and Vincezo took a few steps forward, your feet staying glued to the floor where you had been standing behind him.

“I had a job to do. So putting a bullet in you, wasn’t worth wasting my time over. I’m not sure your measly sidekicks would inconvenience me much.”

He took a seat on the couch.

“But now…you all have to die.”

There was an exclamation of ‘don’t kill me’ and whimpers as he paused, staring directly in front of him before he continued speaking.

“Don’t worry. It won’t be tonight. I live by this principle: ‘What a blessing it is to have a painless death.’ I’m going to give you two things you’ve earned. First, the humiliation of a lifetime, and second…a slow and agonizing end to your life,” Vincenzo turned his head to Hanseok. “I swear.”

He looked away, “You can take care of that garbage. And don’t even try pinning his death on me or it will be all over the news…who hired my mother’s killer.”

Vincenzo rose back to his feet, beginning to walk back in your direction before stopping as he made a noise as if he’d remembered something, going back to Hanseok who crawled backwards as Vincenzo lifted the gun and took aim, cocking the gun, “Here’s a preview for all of you.”

He moved the gun a few centimeters before firing it, taking off a chunk of Hanseok’s ear, his scream filling the air. Vincenzo turned back around walking briskly in your direction and grabbing your arm, pulling you with him as he left as though he were leaving a very rough legal meeting.

Vincenzo was bent over his mother’s body crying as you stood beside him, unsure of what to say or do. The man who had always been so strong and fearless, void of much emotion was breaking down before your very eyes.

“Ma,” he cried over and over again as he sobbed. “Ma.”

~~~ “You should get some rest,” you offered as you stood beside him near the memorial front of the funeral home. “You’ve had a rough time.”

He looked over at you, the bells chiming and drum beating at the monks chanted something consistently, but didn’t say a word before looking away. Everyone from the plaza was there with him offering some semblance of support but clearly mourning and feeling the pain Vincenzo was feeling himself.

Vincenzo sobbed into the scarf his mother had asked to be given to him. The words she’d written in her letter pieced his hardened heart over and over again as he read them. He sobbed as he leaned forward on the small table. You walked over from the kitchen and sat beside him wrapping your arms around him tightly, allowing him to cry into you.

“We’ll make them pay,” you whispered tears welling in your own eyes as he arms pulled you tightly against him. “We’ll make them pay for what they’ve done.”

yeah san is the softest boy ever

i feel like when he falls for someone falls for them quickly. like a 'love at first sight' sort of situation

he would just look at you like you're his whole world

he feels like he can relax and be himself around you, which is why he pretty much always has a smile on his face whenever he is with you, with his cute dimples showing too cries

we know through interactions with the members that san is very physically affectionate. he just loves skinship so expect a lot of it from the very start of your established relationship

san just loves cuddles!!! please he's such a soft boy he needs cuddles to survive. in fact, he has said before that he has to cuddle something while he sleeps same. its more comfortable for him! so having you in his arms as he pulls you close to his chest just feels right!

he can be clingy and very touchy, and he is aware of that. so if you are a shy or timid person he will go easy on you. he doesn't want to overwhelm you with too much skinship too soon. he will probably ease you into a more physical relationship with light touches and hand holding

i feel like he would be such a good boyfriend because he is the ultimate hype man. he will shower you with excessive amounts of compliments and praises until you are left flustered by his words. he just wants to make you feel good about yourself, especially when you are with him! and how can he not praise you when you look so stunning??

similarly, he really loves it when you praise him. he thrives off of your compliments and really holds your kind words close to his heart. he may be super handsome and perfect in every way but he does get insecure at time, like all of us do. so having verbal reassurance from you is something that he really needs.

communication is very important to san. he always takes a special interest in what your day was like or if you have any problems or concerns. he is a very open, emotionally available person. he is always ready for you to rely on him. and i feel like in your relationship it will go both ways. san will feel comfortable enough to express himself to you, sometimes getting lost in deep discussion with you and spilling out things that have been weighing on his heart. you guys are both there to support each other

overall he is super caring. he will always ask how your day is and will check if you have eaten if you haven't he will feed you himself. when he can't be there for you physically, perhaps being too busy with work, he would love to facetime you during lunch breaks or spam you with texts when he can, just to let you know he is still thinking of you

dates with him would include:

going to the movies with you - you guys will probably talk all the way through it and get shushed by a couple of people

staying at home to binge-watch a kdrama - he likes the freedom of just ordering a takeaway and cuddling with you, especially after a long day (but you guys will end up crying together during the emotional scenes

overall, san is just the fluffiest boyfriend ever and he wants someone who can appreciate all the love he has to offer <3

My opinion on the whole coming out issue,

I just want to start with a quote from a kdrama I recently watched. I'm sure some of you have watched it, it's called Business Proposal. Basically there's a whole sub-narrative about a "hidden relationship"

Episode 10 from Kang Tae moo "Who cares, I am just hugging my girlfriend. I can't wait for the entire world to know about us"

Knowing Jungkook has watched it too, I really wonder what did he feel hearing this, but it really gave me the "Keep on being jealous, I will keep holding my Jiminie" vibe.

This brings me to GCFs. The videos are surely an avenue for Jungkook to express his feelings to the world. And I am one of those who believe GCF Tokyo was a statement. I wasn't here when it came out, but I've heard a lot of people at that time thought this was a coming out. I mean, even until now, when we look at the comment section, a lot of strangers/non bts fans think it's a cute couple travel video. This just says a lot about how unbiased people perceive the video. GCF Saipan was a subtle statement too. It's no coincidence that out of all members, only Jimin appeared along the lines "I don't wanna lie no more, I don't wanna hide no more".

For those reasons alone, I don't think they want to hide forever. They are doing it now simply because they have no choice, due to the current climate. Yes, coming out is a risk and it can impact the other members and their careers, but you know what? Everyone in the industry is in the same boat here. Every idol face huge risks whenever a relationship is revealed. Whether it's straight or gay. We have all witnessed the many scandals in the past. And it is bound to happen to BTS members too. Them being under the biggest spotlight in Korea for years and years to come. Plus they won't be able to keep up with the "I am innocent, single, and I will marry army' narrative forever. In the future, if ever one of the member's relationship comes to light, I believe the other members will follow too. They will take the bullet together as a group. Plus, they are so big now. They have nothing to loose. A scandal here and there will never break them. Their huge international fanbase benefits them, simply because I feel like we are much more accepting in terms of dating scandals and lgbt+ issues. Also their whole vibe right now is shifting to "idgaf anymore about what people will think"

Change is coming! I may sound too much of a utopist right now, but I really believe that in the future we'll be able to see all of the members enjoy their life with their respective partners happily, freely without having the burden to hide and lie. Regardless of their orientation.

Doing some Spring cleaning in Autumn...

Kind of strange looking at these words in May 2023. With hiatus, solo debuts, almost no ot7 content and even less Jikookery.

I guess the climate, the SM purchase debacle, enlistment, all had an impact on them.

You were talking, anon, about a member in a relationship and it getting out... well, we saw how that's going for Tae, haven't we? Given, he hasn't admitted to it yet, but man, even before he has parts of this fandom (and another one to remain unnamed) went feral.

I have talked about them 'coming out' many times. My opinion being that they won't, not fully that is, not announcing "we're a couple". Not to say that I don't wish that one day we all live in a world where they can do that and will do that without having to worry about their safety, their livelihood, their families.

But that day is not here yet.

What I do see though, especially now after JM's folio and Face and JK struggling so so hard to not throw it all to the wind scream "fuck it all" and shout it out loud for all to hear, is that as of where they are to date, and unless anything drastic happens between now and their discharge from the military, things will change after they get out.

They might not say things out loud, but they definitley won't be holding back as much. Definitely not as much as they are now, and not as much as they were even going back to 2021-2022 (LV Jikook).

You said "change is coming".

Sadly, after that change did come, but not for the better.

What I'm hoping for is for good change to come as soon as they have this hump called MS off their backs.

We know they will have a lot to say and do, changes will be made... AFTER (sadly, we know this by RM's privacy being breached).

So, we will sit here patiently, us supporters, the people that love JK and JM separately and together, the people that love BTS, their music, what they stand for and the members as individuals as well, and hope that by mid 2025 we will get to see them all on the other side of this fuckery.

WHAT A SWEET QUESTION ANON no because i was thinking about this the other day…..

this is more general thoughts on gojo as a character but !! i truly do see him as someone who yearns for soft domesticity and a sense of belonging / home above all else :’3 and i think a lot of his loneliness stems from the fact that he can’t really have it, either because he’s travelling all the time or because he doesn’t allow himself to feel loved by others in the way he needs.

with the weight of the world on his shoulders, he just isn’t really allowed to have a home, even if he has a big luxurious apartment all to himself… and obviously the tragedy is that he wants the former. i’ve read some fics where gojo moves into his s/o’s much smaller apartment because he doesn’t care about the actual place, as long as it feels homey, and as long as he gets to share it with someone he loves :((( if anything i think he might even prefer a smaller apartment, maybe a little cramped, because it comes with a slice of normalcy that he otherwise can’t have….

idk i really do just see gojo as a big softie who gets sappy when you’re napping on his chest after eating take-out and binging five different kdramas on your uncomfortable couch <33 it makes him feel human!!!

all this just to say that i’m literally exactly like gojo when it comes to this question and we would 100% live in a small messy apartment and exclusively eat sweets, take-out & slightly burnt food <3333 the dream honestly

I love your kdrama recommendations so so much!!! Literally none of them has ever disappointed me....we genuinely might just be the same person based on media taste. I recently watched Your House Helper because a) you've always been recommending it and b) the main lead- ha seokjin- was brilliant in The Devil's Plan and I HAD to watch more of him. Hi anon! Great question.

Now, I'm just going to start off that I don't really watch BLs, like a lot of my mutuals do, I typically tend to watch bromance dramas (or dramas that could classify as BLs if they weren't censored). But I tend to like watching them/loving them better than het romances just because I think they're more fleshed out, it's not all "instant attraction"/love at first sight. I mean, sometimes it is, which isn't bad, but I don't know, I just find myself attracted to those with bromance undertones. I think with bromance/censored dramas, the directors have to work around what het romances can blatantly get away with, which is saying "I love you" or kissing or showing the love, so they have to show love in other ways, like through words or actions, or even their eyes. So much can be said through the eyes and I think showing the love is a lot more powerful than just saying "I love you". I mean, I love you is powerful too and there are ways to say "I love you" without specifically saying I love you...if that makes sense

Now don't get me wrong, I do love a good het romance every now and then, but romance in general just isn't my thing. I'm not a romance girly, unlike my mom, who really loves the fluffy/sappy romantic kdramas and such. I like mystery, police procedurals, crime, action, stuff like that. That's just my personal preference.

As for your second question, I think that one isn't better than the other, they're just for different audiences.

Western queer romances...they're still trying to like...ease into the whole romance thing so a lot of the romance is set in like...high school or like...it's made more towards like...the younger generation. Which again, isn't bad, but like...what about the older queers? When are they going to get their chance to shine in tv shows and such? The only shows that I know of that show like...older queers are Our Flag Mean Death, What We Do In the Shadows, Old Fashioned Cupcake, What Did You Eat Yesterday. And I'm sure there are movies too but I'm just not versed in them (so don't come for me, alright?)

As for Asian queer media, it's been around since like...forever. And they're not afraid to try different ideas and go in directions that would probably make Western audiences clutch their pearls (I'm watching my mutuals watch Only Friends through my dash and sometimes there are a lot of pearl clutching). And Asian queer media isn't trying to appeal to Western audiences, they're trying to appeal to their own audience. They're not trying to do the high school romances (I mean they are), they're trying to branch out and do more mature topics, taboo topics that wouldn't really be found anywhere in Western media.

So I don't know...I don't think one is better than the other, I think they're both good in their own right and you just have to know which version you want to watch. If you only want to watch Western queer media, fine. If you only want to watch Asian queer media, fine. But one does not get to shit on the other (and I know that at times Western artists tend to do that with Asian queer media and it's like no) because you're not better than the other. Just because you may not share the same themes or topics does not mean that you get to think that you're holier than thou. So pitting the two against each other and asking what makes one better than the other just causes more discourse and there's enough discourse already in the world that we don't need to bring more into it

Hi. With all the mv talk going around, I can’t help but wonder how “sexual” a Korean mv can be. I mean people are acting like this might be really scandalous and I just don’t see that with their culture? Maybe that’s just me. A kiss? Sure. I don’t really watch kdramas but from what I know about those is that they are very tame and take 10 episodes for the mains to even hold hands let alone kiss. 💭 what I find annoying is that often the more sexually explicit bls have messed up power dynamics or dub/noncon or coercion played as romance. you can be sex positive and not portray those dynamics. It makes me prefer ones that depict sex less because it doesn't go over lines for me. But people who care about consent should get to enjoy those kinds of stories too. I am really paying attention to only friends because I think whatever messed up dynamics are involved, the sex is consensual and the manipulation is not seen as romantic. And I love to see it.

🔮no no never second seasons, nev-er. I have not watched a second season of a bl ever that I felt like was a solid continuation and didn't taint the first season. Movies or bonus episodes like our skyy have been good. they don't seem to feel the need to blow everything up for drama. I am good with fic to continue stories I love, thanks.

🌄this is such a hard one - I'm not sure I have one favorite scene, but the one that comes to mind is pat and pran standing in front of their houses ready to go back home at the end of episode 11 of bad buddy, our song playing over them as the first time showing that the theme song was pran's song he was writing for pat all along. there was something about how all those threads came together there. and yeah, it's a cheat because it's part of a whole sequence that brings together what they've experienced together. I will never forget it and even now knowing what comes next, I cry every time I watch it.

⏳️longish episodes. Not full kdrama length of over an hour, but I do think the thai BL length is the perfect length for me. many of the jdrama ones still feel too short even. kbl is waayyy too short.

🙄 oh boy, I have unpopular opinions here. I usually keep these to myself because I don't feel like I need to yuck anyone's yum, but I did not enjoy until we meet again at all. And ultimately, I am not a fan of kinnporsche in terms of the main pairing dynamic. I loved the bonkers mob stuff (the finale for perth's character is so the stuff I love) so it does have an artificially higher rating on my list than it probably should.

😡 fighter in why R U or kinn in kinnporsche. they both play out the tropes I mentioned hating in my other post. again, look, ykinmk. I'm not going into tags to piss in anyone's cheerios, but it does really bother me that they are so romanticized by such a large group of people. and for the record, I didn't have any problem with vegas or pete (as characters) because the story acknowledged their fucked up ness. It's when the story shows some really twisted power dynamics, does not acknowledge them and plays it as the most romantic situation in the world that makes me go blech.

It is indeed interesting how a lot of bromances tend to get so much intensity. They get very homo in their no homo xD

There's many reasons for that actually! For example, if we take wuxia dramas, in a lot of occasions they were gay in the source material. In kdramas, they have lately been going stronger at the bromances and playing with misunderstandings and other characters being like "oh I thought you guys were together", in a very queerbaity way (probably for the female audience) because they know it's popular and it will create buzz and hype.

But if we're talking shounen manga, most of the bromances there are so intense because of the layers of complexity their relationship has. Why was SasuNaru so popular? Because what better than having two people, both terribly lonely having finally found a friendship that is taking them out of that place only for it to break in the most tragic manner (one choosing the wrong path because of his inner demons and the other trying to stop him) in which their emotions are literally represented by a physical fight? And we generally do not see that happen with female characters, only between the male characters (I blame misoginy).

I do wish there was more of that intensity we see in bromances in BL. Or actually, I wish some of those bromances became romances, when it makes sense. But apparently markets are not ready for that 🤷‍♀️

However, my favorite romantically poetic line that I've ever seen comes from a movie:

Yup, not even yalls precious kpop idols. Majority of the times, the younger you are the easier it is to take advantage of you and groom you. Stay safe people!

No anon you're 100% right! I had to explain this to a anon who was asking about what older male idols thought of Wonyoung and I got protective of her as well! Especially because people are unaware of how toxic the kpop industry can be behind the scenes. There has been a quite a few scandals over the years of predators being in the industry and sexual assault cases but people dismiss that because they focus more on the glamorous aspect of kpop. Like people find Western celebrities and media so scandalous, but in East Asia its just as bad tbh. So I don't like to answer questions about older idols thoughts or opinions of young idols unless it's strictly from a business perspective. No grown ass man or woman tbh, needs to be thinking about somebody who's age ends with "teen". I think her fan base might be pretty young so they can be naive and lack awareness sometimes.
