as someone who grew up seeing the most ridiculous and melodramatic telenovelas from my country, and seeing the reputation telenovelas have in general, i have to say, hilda furacão being the first one to genuinely peak my interest -- what with religious guilt, biblical horniness, and the tormented pretty boy who is totally and rightfully beside himself over one hell of a woman -- feels like good luck on my end.

i mean, it's like the perfect timing to have heard of it in the last few months. because that angel who's translating episodes for free and uploads them every few days has me fully understanding the absolute madness of everyone who was waiting for the next episode of euphoria s2 felt!

like, i just wonder what the reception of the series was when it first aired. it tackles religion, communism, and sex work, just to keep it general. it took place in the 50s-60s, featuring real historical events. was it controversial at the time? was this the norm for many brazilian telenovelas to feature these subject matters? and how is it they executed 1950s fashion, hair and makeup better in the 90s than they do today? they rarely ever make hair look that flouncy and bouncy in period pieces today!

The Fall of House Of Usher brainrot

Idk if I’m delusional but do we think the Usher Children / Rodrick and Madeline represented the 7 deadly sins?

1- Lust: Perry

Perry literally died in secret sex club

2- Gluttony: Frogdrick

Frogrick was doing heeps of cocaine, which led him to his own downfall (you could argue Leo but this was a new overconsumption for little Froggy)

3- Greed: Rodrick/Madeline

The og siblings literally sold their “soul” to Verna FULLY knowing it would kill all of their family members! They sacrificed everything to be rich.

4- Sloth: Leo

A few of his siblings and his dad even claimed he didn’t “work” he only paid people to make video games for him. He didn’t work and literally got killed by a “domestic” cat, he should have left the house lol

5- Wrath: Camille

Camille was so convinced the traitor was Vic. Also, she was so angry against her assistants and the possibility of making Vic the bad guy it literally got her killed!

6- Envy: Vic

This one is a bit trickier but I do believe we saw her envy after the first funeral when she confronted Tammy and Frogrick about how she was always treated differently because she was a “bastard” child. How she always needed to prove herself more.

I also think she was a bit envious of her girlfriend because all of this was her research and not Vic’s. She didn’t have the full power of the experiment, only a passenger on the ride. That’s why she fully disassociated and did the heart transplant herself.

7- Pride: Tammy

Tammy thought she could do everything by herself. We saw this especially with her husband, she said she didn’t need him and thought she was better than him. We also see this with her view on the other siblings and her step mother, June. She thinks she is better than all of them and treats them as less. She even got killed by mirrors because of her excessive view of herself!

anon I am sorry you’re gonna regret asking me this because currently it’s everything to me. so sctir is short for S-Classes that I raised. It’s a webnovel and comic currently being published! It’s technically speaking one of those dungeon crawler “oh suddenly dungeons appear all over the world and now people with magic powers fight in them to stop the apocalypse” stories but actually no, it’s not about that.

It’s about the most sweet perfect absolutely unhinged sibling relationship I’ve seen in ages. Sorry yunmeng bros, you got nothing on the Han brothers.

So we got our protagonist Han Yoojin! He’s the older brother and pretty much spent over a decade raising his five year younger brother Han Yoohyun because their parents were neglectful and then died. So my boy Yoojin dropped out of school to work and ensure his baby brother did not have to suffer.

Except sike! Dungeons appeared and Yoohyun awakened as one of the strongest people. And then pretty much immediately cut contact to his brother. Yoojin suffered as a consequence. You cannot make someone else the entire purpose of your life and then have them abandon you. He Goes Through it, eventually also awakens, but as the weakest rank. This continues for a while until Yoojin is caught in a dungeon where a much too strong monster shows up.

And who appears if not Yoohyun! Who dies for his brother if not Yoohyun?

Because turns out he cut contact to his brother because he didn’t want to endanger Yoojin! He kept an eye on his brother but didn’t interact with him because he was afraid to make him even more of a target! He loves his brother so much he decided leaving him was the onky way to keep him safe! Very much the thought process of a teenager who’s only ever had one person in his whole life to rely on! And then he dies in Yoojin’s arms! And Yoojin gets all these memories dropped on him!

Anyway, the monster dies and Yoojin gets the chance to travel back in time. So he does that to save his brother. Somehow this escalates into him adopting a bunch of murderous people who are all utterly obsessed with him.

King of that is Yoohyun who straight up has a “what if I fake your death and lock you up so you’re safe and can’t leave me” moment in canon (I am not paraphrasing here), but it’s fine because 5 minutes later they hug it out.

Anyway they are so special to me.

It’s a really fun story exploring dependencies as well as the power of emotionally available parenting. Please read it I need people to talk about it more.
