Roy lounged back in his leather office chair and smirked as Jason sauntered in without knocking. “And what do I owe this displeasure?”.
“Just wanted to see how things were going, you know, it is my company after all”, Jason glanced around the office. Roy liked to keep things minimal, although the addition of the little cactus was new. An almost feminine touch. He made a note to question him about that later. He’d never known Harper to take an interest in plants before.
As the office door closed behind him, arguing erupted outside, barely concealed by the walls. He raised his eyebrow and looked through the window seeing a short, stumpy man in a suit become red and blotchy in the face.
“I don’t know why we still pay that moron”, Roy grunted and waved his hand to the disagreement outside. The stubby man, Eric, was tugging at his tie as a more feminine voice dressed him down confidently.
“I can have HR carry out a performance review if you’d like”.
Jason glanced out between the blinds and saw you storm around one of the desks, straight into his vision, hands flying violently as you spoke. He swallowed as his eyes followed you; a tight fitting grey pencil skirt paired with a wine silk blouse. He raised an eyebrow in interest. Your hair was pinned up in a messy bun, strands falling down to frame your petite face. Lips painted a deep shape of rouge. You laughed venomously before pointing to one of the free standing boards, a colourful diagram adorning it. Eric shook his head and turned away, only infuriating you more. Jason smirked, enjoying the little show.
“She’s been here 5 minutes…down boy”, Roy chuckled and grabbed something from his printer. Scrawling his signature across the bottom.
“You say that like you'd wait even 30 seconds”, Jason scoffed, a little embarrassed and slightly impressed at how well Roy could read him.
Roy looked up from the papers and grinned, “I give at least 3 to 5 working days as a courtesy before I pounce”.
Jason felt his stomach churn at the thought. He spun around quicker than he would have liked and raised an eyebrow, “Oh...so you’ve tried then?”.
“What’s it to you if I have?”, Roy grinned, noticing Jason’s reaction.
“I want to see if she has taste”, Jason quipped and turned his attention back to the escalating discussion outside. Hoping to hide the pink tinting his cheeks. You’d now dragged the whiteboard across to Eric, jabbing at one of the PowerPoint slides before rubbing your temples in frustration.
Roy scoffed to hide the laughter before getting out of his seat strolling across to Jason to hand him the signed papers, “You know, she’s the woman that saved you 500 grand last week”.
Jason frowned upon taking the paperwork from Roy, “I don't remember hearing about it”.
The white haired man shrugged to the shouting, “Take a wild guess why, Todd”.
“He played it as his own victory?”, Jason’s gaze fell back to you. Eric was crossing over your work on the board with an ugly red marker, sneering at you. Jason felt his temper surge at the blatant disregard for your hard work and effort. His brow creased at the unfamiliar emotions swimming in the back of his mind.
Roy slapped him on the shoulder suddenly, a dark grin on his lips, “Oh! So you do have a brain”.
Jason rolled his eyes, rolling his broad shoulders, “Contrary to popular belief, yes I do”.
Roy laughed deeply as he watched you with Jason through the window, your irritation bubbling over as you repeatedly jabbed your pen to the graphs on the board, voice becoming louder with every word, “She’s a real pistol”.
“I can see”, Jason hummed appreciatively as you stalked off towards the coffee room, the skirt pulling tight against you, highlighting the curve of your ass perfectly.
Eric looked flustered as the rest of the staff in the room stared at him following the heated exchange. He shouted something to them, causing them all to bow their heads behind their computer screens. Roy grumbled something under his breath Jason couldn’t make out. Eric turned towards Roy’s office and stiffened when he saw both men watching him. Jason smirked at him, giving a subtle wave before turning to Roy, “You know what, I will send HR down this week to investigate”.
***
You checked yourself in the mirror of the elevator again, nerves making your stomach somersault. The dress had been an extravagant splurge but the moment you laid your eyes on it, you knew you had to have it. It was a floor length, backless crimson dress with a daring thigh split. You ran your hands down the front of the fabric, the satin soothing your clammy palms.
Your hair was curled loosely and draped down your bare shoulders, lips a dark red to match your dress. Briefly, you hoped, you hadn’t gone overboard with your outfit. The invitation had said ‘formal wear’. The elevator dinged and before you could think too much, the doors slid open revealing you to the party. You heard someone gasp in the distance and that’s when the entire room turned to your direction.
You were used to people staring at you in the office because of your fiery attitude but this was different. You felt your skin prickle. An odd sensation driving through your nerves. Everyone had paused to stare at you as you stepped into the room. The music faded in the back of your mind, replaced by the hammering of your heart. You straightened yourself and strode into the room with all the false confidence you could muster.
His eyes. Jason. You could feel them burning more than anyone else’s. He’d stopped mid sentence when you entered the room, cigarette left smoking in his hand. He was surrounded by his executive team, including your area manager, Mr Harper. Whilst you felt heat spreading across your cheeks, you felt somewhat pleased you’d stunned your loud mouthed CEO into silence. Roy had slapped Jason on the back, a dark smirk on his face drawing his attention away from you. He glared at Roy before taking a long drag from his cigarette, continuing with his conversation as though nothing had happened. The group of suited men dissolved into barks of laughter.
You needed a large drink. Preferably a strong one too if you wanted to last the night. You headed straight towards the bar, as fast as your towering heels would allow.
———
Jason patted one of the executives on the shoulder, making his excuses before striding across to you as you leaned against the bar, your bare back on full display. He swallowed thickly, you looked majestic under the glittering fairy lights draped around the room.
He settled next to you at the bar, clearing his throat before speaking, the deep timber of his voice rattled your core, “I think...I've seen your face before”.
You rolled your eyes at the terrible opening line before turning to face him. The black suit fitted him perfectly, showcasing his broad shoulders, his blood red tie knotted tightly against the collar of his crisp white shirt.
“Probably during one of your lonely nights over a bottle of chardonnay”, you lazily waved your hand at him.
Jason smirked at your attitude and laughed, “You think I’m chatting you up princess?”.
You pursed your lips together, nodding, “It certainly sounded that way to me and I really don’t know what else you would do after swaggering away from that crowd just to talk to lil’ old me”.
“I simply had to talk to the woman who stunned the room into silence”, his smooth voice sent shivers over your skin, oozing charm. You imagined it worked on every woman he encountered. It almost worked on you.
“Very smooth Mr Todd”, you teased and tried to wave the bartender down with no luck. You sighed and cursed under your breath.
Jason clicked his fingers, drawing the attention of the waiter immediately, “Two large glasses of Malbec please”, he winked at you when the bartender reached to the top shelf of liquor, “I know who you are”, Jason gave you a devilish smile, “You’re the 500 grand woman”.
“Y/N”, you winked and wiggled your finger at him in a joking fashion. The grin on your face widened when the wine was set down in front of you both. The rich, spicy smell drifted up your nose.
You dug your hand into your purse but Jason shook his head, “It’s on me”.
“Oh”, you clicked your tongue playfully, “You’re too kind”, you smirked at him.
Jason wouldn’t admit it, but he knew exactly who you were. He hadn’t been able to get you out of his mind since he laid his eyes on you last month. Your spitfire attitude had spread through the office and you’d made quite a name for yourself. Cutting impressive deals and smart talking anyone who tried to shoot you down. The only thing Jason had lacked was an opportunity to talk to you.
He held up his glass of whiskey and looked down at you, his dark eyes sweeping over your face, “A toast”, he leaned down towards you, his hot breath fanned across your cheek, “To Y/N”, his voice dipped lower, a gravelly rasp, “The most beautiful, enticing woman in the room”.
“You forgot to add smart”, your voice sounded more breathy than you intended, giving Jason an idea of the effect he was having over you.
He winked, “The most beautiful, enticing, smart mouthed woman in the room”.
“To me”.
You clinked your glass with his before bringing it to your lips, taking a long sip. The alcohol burnt your throat in the best way, the deep red of your lipstick staining the rim of the glass. Jason couldn’t help but stare at the smudge, wondering if it would stain as nicely on his skin.
Downing the drink in one, Jason placed the glass on the bar, the bartender rushed over quickly, leaving the bottle of red wine next to Jason before scurrying off. Your tongue darting across your lips, savouring the taste of the luxurious drink.
Jason watched you closely, you felt alive under his burning stare, “I hope you’re enjoying working for The Iceberg Lounge”.
“Of course, Sir”.
He swallowed the growl threatening to escape his lips. The way you said it. The way your lips wrapped around the word Sir, how easily it rolled off your tongue. He took a deep breath. You riled him up with little to no effort.
You glanced around the gala, almost everyone from The Iceberg had turned up. Hundreds of people were braying in the room. Dancing, drinking, laughing and screeching. The music thudded in the background, the bass thrumming through your body. You had to hand it to Jason, he certainly knew how to host a company party. Well a man in charge of a chain of bars should really.
Jason gripped the bottle of wine swiftly, “It's getting rather lively in here princess, fancy a drink and a smoke on the balcony?”.
You nodded, grabbing your clutch from the bar. You sashayed through the crowd easily, Jason following close behind you. Slinking through the throes of people, you smirked to yourself. You were playing with fire but, you had to admit, you liked the heat that came with it.
———
When you stepped out onto the balcony, the cool night breeze whipped around your body, nipping the bare skin on show. You shuddered slightly, looking up at the night sky. You were high enough that you could finally see the stars. They twinkled innocently, making you smile to yourself.
Jason placed the bottle of red on a nearby table, looking across at you. You looked even more stunning under the midnight stars. He coughed deeply, working his way across to the railing you were leaning against, “I’m surprised that you came alone, I find it hard to believe you struggled to get a date”.
You turned to him, your chandelier earrings dangling in the breeze, they captured the starlight and flickered elegantly, “I like coming to these things alone”, you mused, a coy smirk on your painted lips, “I like to see who else has come alone”.
“Oh”, he inched closer, the soft brush of his suit jacket against your bare arm made you flush, “So you’re on the lookout?”.
“Maybe”, your fingers wrapped around the metal bar and you looked over the edge. The bustle of Gotham City never ceased to amaze you, even at this height. And there you were, gazing at it with its unofficial Prince standing next to you.
Jason grinned, letting a cool finger stroke down your upper arm, “I might be able to help with that”.
You smirked, looking up catching his heated stare, “Are you going to introduce me to one of your rich friends?”.
“Trust me princess, they’re not your type”, he scoffed, his eyes tracing down the neckline of your dress, mapping every inch of your tantalising skin. He noticed a faint sparkle of glitter on your skin, along with a subtle scent of vanilla invading his senses.
Moving away from the balcony edge, you stepped into his space, fingers grasping the end of his tie, playing with it gently, “And what is my type?”.
Jason felt an unmatched desire burning in his gut when your hands toyed with his tie. He took a deep breath before cornering you into the balcony railing. His eyes were hooded with lust, “I know exactly what it is”.
The bitter metal pressed into your lower back and you bit back the moan creeping up your throat, desperate to escape. You snaked your hand up his solid chest and straightened out his shirt collar, “Well don't keep me in suspense, Sir”.
It was taking all of his self restraint not to bend you over the balcony and rail you from behind, especially when you kept calling him Sir. His hands gripped the balcony bar behind you, knuckles white from the force. Jason smirked, his voice dropping several octaves, “I can show you instead princess”.
The heat from his body was addictive and you leaned into it without thinking, breath catching in your throat. His aftershave was intoxicating and you felt your mind spinning. Jason pulled back suddenly and offered you his hand.
You slipped your hand into his and bit your plump bottom lip, “People are going to see us leaving together”.
“So?”, Jason shrugged, “Then they know we're going to have some fun, aren't we princess?”.
You shivered, letting his words drip over you. Oh the night was yet to begin and your heart was thrumming with excitement. You secured your fingers through his and started to pull him back inside so you could both leave.
“Of course Sir”.
The second you were back inside, Jason’s free hand wound around your waist, guiding you towards the elevators. He leaned down, hot breath fanning down your sensitive neck, “Yours or mine?”.
You pressed the down button on the lift pad a little more enthusiastically than you would have liked. You felt him smirk behind you, fingers digging into your flesh.
“Mine”, you whispered before slipping into the cart when the doors sprung open.
———
The taxi ride back to your apartment was filled with subtle touches and increasing tension. You’d expected Jason to pounce on you the second you slid into the backseat but he didn’t, simply keeping one arm around your shoulder, the other resting on your exposed knee drawing feather light circles.
“Keep the change”, Jason muttered, shoving a wad of cash through the divider before helping you out of the car.
His hand pressed into your lower back, rough fingers scraping against your soft skin. You shuddered, excited to feel his touch exploring the rest of your body. You led him through the marble floored lobby and up a flight of stairs, stopping outside of your door to retrieve your keys from your clutch.
His lips pressed into the junction of your neck, tongue lapping over your skin which flushed rapidly under his touch, “Hurry up princess”. You felt Jason’s hand stroke up the front of your dress, palming your breast greedily before pinching your nipple.
You gasped at the rush of sensations, almost dropping your keys. The overload of his touches made you shudder and your eyes close, head dipping forward.
“Unless you want me to fuck you out here for everyone to see, I suggest you get that door open”, he growled, lips teasing the shell of your ear. His cock was straining against his suit trousers as he brushed it against your ass, groaning quietly.
Steadying your hands and your frayed mind, you slotted the key into your door, opening it as quickly as possible. Before you had any time to think, Jason crushed you against it, slamming it shut, his lips plastered to yours in a frenzied heat.
You moaned, the noise swallowed by his mouth as his tongue glided along yours. He could still taste the wine on your lips, mingling with your own sweet flavour. You dropped your bag and ran your hands up his chest, reaching his tie. Tugging it hard, you loosened it, enough to free him of it and start unbuttoning his shirt.
Jason smirked and sunk his teeth into your bottom lip, enjoying the gasp of pleasure you released. You looked into his darkened gaze, giving him a sweet innocent smile before pushing him back against the hallway wall. His eyebrows lifted in surprise but he allowed you control, stroking the pads of his fingers up and down your spine.
With the last button popped open, your nails dragged down to his belt, unfastening it slowly, licking your lips.
“I bet this is what you thought about didn’t you?”, you teased, unzipping his trousers and pushing them down, slowly, “Me on my knees for you, swallowing your thick cock”.
You palmed him through his boxers, watching his face twist with held back desire. Your lips curved and you dropped to your knees, eye level with his hard shaft.
Jason groaned quietly, fingers tangling in your hair, gripping tighter when your lips ghosted over the outline of his throbbing cock.
“Princess”, he warned huskily, voice laced heavy with lust.
The stings of pain as he pulled your hair shot down to your core, lighting up all of your nerves. You mewled and mouthed his tip, “I thought about it too…Sir”.
His hips rutted towards your face at your words and you grinned. You pulled his boxers down slowly, watching as his cock sprung free, slapping against his rippled abs. Your mouth watered at the sight, aching for him to sink into both your throat and pussy.
You nipped along his thick, muscled thighs, your lipstick smearing as you neared his pulsing length. He tensed with each bite and growled loudly, cock twitching with excitement.
“Princess if you keep-”, the words died in his throat when the wet heat of your mouth encased his cock in one swift motion. His head flung back, eyes scrunched shut at the feeling.
You purred around his shaft, tongue fluttering along the underside, tracing the vein there. Your hands stroked up and down his thighs as you worked your lips around him. Bobbing your head back and forth.
Each time you whined around him, the vibrations buzzed up his spine, sending his mind into a delirious haze of pleasure.
“Fuck!”, he grunted and fisted his hands into your hair, thrusting forward into your hot mouth.
The head of his cock nudged the back of your throat and you gagged around his cock, whimpering with desire. He caught his breath and looked down at you, eyes black with passion.
“Your lips look perfect wrapped around my big cock”, he smirked and thrust harder into your mouth, the wet, sinful sounds echoing in the hallway of your apartment.
Your pussy was soaked and each time you shuffled, the lace of your thong rubbed against your clit. The sensation made your skin flush but it wasn’t enough. You needed him.
Jason sucked his bottom lip between his teeth as he watched you swallow his cock. Your once perfect lipstick was smudged all over your mouth. Some stained his length. He groaned as you pulled back, tracing your tongue over the slit of his tip, hands kneading his inner thighs perfectly.
“Sir-please…”, your voice was raw as you spoke, wide eyes searching his, “I want you”.
He let his thumb run over your bottom lip, enjoying the way your lips wrapped around it without second thought, sucking softly. Jason dipped it down your chin before hooking it underneath, “Come here”.
You stood slowly, adjusting the strap of your dress which had fallen down your arm. Jason bracketed your hips and lifted you easily, letting your toned legs wrap around his waist. His lips moulded to yours, kissing you deeply. He could faintly taste himself on your tongue, the bitter arousal sparking through his body.
———
He carried you with ease through your apartment, occasionally banging into things along the way.
“Second d-door”, you moaned loudly when he bit your shoulder, “on the-the right”.
When you finally made it into your bedroom, after several stops along the way with Jason shoving you into the nearest wall, he dropped you down onto the bed.
You inched up the bedding slowly, watching him with hooded eyes as he stripped off the rest of his clothes. You made no show of hiding how much you admired his finely sculpted body. You licked your lips as his muscles flexed when he knelt onto the bed, grabbing one of your ankles.
“You’re wearing too many clothes”, he complained as his fingers travelled up your bare leg before finally reaching the hem of the dress.
“What are you going to do-”, the tear of fabric was loud in the room, Jason’s face was knitted with desire.
“Jason!!”, you scolded loudly as he continued to rip the flimsy material off your body, leaving you bare beneath him in a skimpy lace thong. You watched as he threw the offending material to the floor, his predatory gaze turning back to you.
“Get on your knees”, he commanded, ignoring your protests about your once beautiful dress, “Now”.
You wanted to argue, but the twisting coil in the pit of your stomach made you comply readily. You saw his pleased smirk before you rested your head against your forearms, pressing your ass and core to him.
He whistled appreciatively, slapping his hand over one of your cheeks. You moaned wantonly, muffling your cries into the flesh of your arm.
“Don’t you dare”, he growled and spanked you harder, your skin becoming hot and prickly, “I want to hear every sound you make”.
The thong you had on framed your ass perfectly, barely covering your glistening pussy. He smoothed two fingers through your silken core, sinking them into you slowly. Jason grunted when your walls tried to pull him further.
He removed his hand and spread your wetness along the back of your thigh, pushing your thong to the side. You whined in protest at the loss of sensation and pushed back. Jason gripped your hips tightly, halting your movement, “Tell me what you want princess”.
Heat crept over your flushed skin as he teased you, the tip of his cock sweeping through your sopping folds. You ignored his question and circled your hips, mewling his name.
He grabbed a fistful of your hair and yanked your head back forcefully, teeth grazing the sensitive spot on your neck, “I said, tell me what you want”.
“Your cock”, your moans were depraved as you felt the overload of euphoria thrumming through your veins, “I want you to fuck me”.
Jason kissed the spot behind your ear, sucking a mark there before muttering, “Where are your manners princess?”.
You dug your nails into the sheets below in frustration before panting desperately, “Please Sir, please fuck me”.
He chuckled darkly behind you, tugging your hair again, before sinking his cock into your pussy fully. You cried out at the delicious sting as he stretched your walls with his thick girth.
Jason gave you no time to adjust before slamming his hips back into yours harshly, keeping your hair wound around his fist as he thrust into you.
The air was filled with the sounds of your debauched moans and his skin slapping into yours. Your eyes rolled into the back of your head as your first orgasm hit you without any warning.
Jason cursed behind you as your velvet walls spasmed around his cock, pulling him deeper. His thrusts became shallow as he drove harder into you, working you through your climax.
Changing the angle of his thrusts, the head of his shaft slammed against your g spot repeatedly as he ploughed faster into your pussy. You sobbed his name into the bed sheets, gripping them tightly. You were certain your nails were going to rip through the fabric.
“That’s it princess”, he coaxed, tugging your hair back, “I know you’ve got another one for me”. He snaked his hand around your front, rubbing over your clit furiously.
“Jason!”, you cried his name loudly, vision going blank as he fucked you into another powerful climax. You felt his cock throbbing inside you as he fell into his own release, emptying himself in your tight core.
“Fuck!”, he rasped, releasing your hair and holding onto your hips as his thrusts slowed down to a complete still.
Pulling out of you, he groaned under his breath as he saw some of his seed drip down your folds. You collapsed down onto the bed, flat on your front, fighting to catch your breath. Jason dropped down next to you, relaxing on his back, his own chest heaving with deep pants.
You hadn’t been fucked like that in a long time. If ever. With the last of your energy, you rolled onto your side, a sly grin on your face, “Got time for another?”. Your fingers stroked down the grooves of his abs, following the dark trail of hair.
Jason grabbed your hand and brought it to his lips, nipping at the pulse on your wrist, “Definitely”.
He pulled you on top of him, his hands moving up to cup your breasts as your lips danced together again, drinking in each other. You knew he would only be here for the night but, you’d be damned if you weren’t going to make the most of it.

Covers Bookbinding for beginners by a beginner- The Home Stretch
*drinks half a gallon of coffee*
COVERS!
You've gotten your typeset done for the fic, you've battled the demon that is your printer, folded pages, stitched pages, glued pages, glued end pages, and end bands. Made the cover, covered the cover in potentially homemade book cloth.
Now it's time to design a cover.
It's time to make this thing into a fully functioning book and slide it on your shelf and have a nice bout of "Laying on the Floor while Questioning the Human Condition (TM)".
There are a few options.
It depends on what you want.
I can only take you so far with Cricut/vinyl applications. But I researched enough to maybe, MAYBE give you the run down on at least how to get your cover from Canva to the software to cut out your vinyl. I'll start there since this is what I know the least.
Open up your version of Canva.
Make a document, I've seen some fanbinders make all this in the cricut software but I can only smile and nod along. But for me- this is the best I've figured:
Tumblr media
go to the search bar and type in book cover (or use the drop down menu) click on a random template.
Fiddle and fart your way into a design you like. Text and Font Options are available in drop down menus and find some designs that are "Easy to Weed" which I understand as "Getting rid of all the stuff that's not going on the cover".
For Example:
Tumblr media
Do you like it? It took me 40 seconds, I'm very proud of it. But this isn't to impress you really I just need to show you how to save your file so you can make the leap from one software application to the next.
Hit "Share", Hit "Download", File Type- Hit the down arrow, Hit "PNG" I missed this for the first few times--- BUT!
Tumblr media
Click the "Transparent Background"
If you're doing more than one colour Vinyl you're going to duplicate the page that is located right next to the lock icon above the document. Hit that. Delete the stuff that you want to be different colours. Otherwise it will just cut everything out as one colour and I've seen some vinyl covers that get damn fancy.
You can also build a title cover just measure the spine and height of your spine and rotate your text to horizontal if you please.
Now for how I do mine. I use Printable Iron On Vinyl. Keynote there is a difference, there is stuff for light fabrics, and stuff for dark. Choose for what your primary book cloth will be but the paper itself will be white.
Make your design.
Tumblr media
I have 3 different covers for Celestial Navigation by Sabrecmc just because of how LARGE the fic itself is. I had to split the text block up for ease of handling.
I saved as a PNG, and loaded up my fancy printable vinyl into my printer and went through the software for printing, I had to do some fiddling but for my purposes I had to get the whole cover in the right size on the page- it took some fiddling yours might be simpler it might be more complex. But once I got it printed I trimmed off the white and was left with a peel-able rather velvety feeling thing.
Remove the backing. Get the iron on and go low and slow with the provided barrier material to prevent melting and damage to the print you've just done.
I made spines as well and made an 11 x 8.5 (Or brochure template)
Tumblr media
And lined up my spines accordingly as to not waste materials. There will be grids that pop up automatically to let you know if things line up.
Print them out on the "highest quality" out put for your photo software.
Tumblr media
It peels like a sticker. It may take a bit to get it going.
Tumblr media
Line it up as nicely as you can on the cover (double check on the still exposed board).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is a protective sheet that comes with it USE IT. Set your iron to a low heat and move it around frequently.
If you're in a relatively humid area (I live in a coastal town so the humidity is pretty high all year). Have a heavy book to squish your covers down with to try and get out any bends that may happen post ironing (also why we want low and slow).
Leave to cool.
Now you have a text block and a cover.
For all intents and purposes for my demonstration I'm leaving the spine off and am redoing everything with this fic from the ground up. There are aspects and mistakes that I have made that have irked my brain. So I will be leaving the spines off for this round. This is the learning curve and since a lot have things have clicked into place since beginning this series that have given me the "AH HA! CLARITY!" moment. I have completely reworked EVERYTHING in my text block of Celestial Navigation. Plus I've a perfectionist issue that is a lot milder than what it was.
But these two text blocks will work as my "Ground Zero" and will be the books I compare all potential future binds too.
As a note that I said in the beginning of this endeavor:
THIS IS FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY. FOR THE LOVE OF FUCK DO NOT SELL WORK THAT DOES NOT BELONG TO YOU!!!! YOU HAVE ASKED PERMISSION (I dearly hope) TO DO THIS DO NOT BREAK TRUST WITH THE AUTHOR.
IF You want to offer a copy to the author- GO FOR IT. Close friend that is showing interest in the fic?? Sure ok.
But if you sell it for monetary gain? I hope you stub your toe, and just before it finally heals you stub your toe again and may all your breakfast cereal turn to slugs.
DO NOT BE A DICK. I am writing this whole 'How To' Series as an experiment of Good Faith that you, the potential binder, will do right by the community and not compound an issue that has been cropping up. Etsy sellers, and this horrible Facebook community that will steal other's typesets, and begin selling them.
Like I said- this is a breech in Fair Use.
Now with that lecture, again, out of the way lets settle the rest of this series.
You will need:
Glue
Book Press
glue brush
Wax Paper.
Your Cover.
Your Text block.
Tumblr media
Get your textblock and cover lined up with some wax paper in the middle of the decorative pages (if you're doing them other wise the page you glue down to the cover and the rest of the text block.
Fiddle, fart and dry fit until you are satisfied.
Lay down a layer of glue on the page NOT THE COVER ITSELF.
DON'T BE ME. I FUCKED UP HARDCORE AND DID THE COVER WITH THE GLUE. HOOOOO NELLY LET ME TELL YOU HOW BADLY THAT FUCKED SHIT UP.
HOW BAD WAS IT? BAD. VERY BAD. DON'T BE LIKE ME THAT FIRST ROUND, BE LIKE ME ON THE SECOND ROUND AND PUT GLUE ON THE END PAGE.
Tumblr media
Line up the textblock for a final time and then apply the paper to the cover open the textblock and smooth what you just glued down. Flip over and repeat.
Then add weight to the text block put it back in your press, or if you're like me and have a reprint in the press just throw books atop the block.
Tumblr media
Allow glue to cure over night.
Shiver, shudder, and lay on the floor. Your fic is now a book that you can put on your shelf.
Welcome to the wild wild world of bookbinding.
I've been your host trying their best to explain all the things.
I will likely continue this series with "OK SO I LEARNED SOME SHIT ALL THAT SHIT I WROTE BEFORE FEEL FREE TO LISTEN BUT I'VE GOT BETTER SOLUTIONS NOW" time stuff.

my twitter account got locked so tumblr gets my insanity full force. i’ve been thinking about dirkjake.
it’s mostly been vague spinning of concept ala food in the microwave BUT i’ve wanted to talk about them and colour association for a while now and what better time to do just that than this one?
dirk’s primary colour association is orange, specifically a sort of creamsicle shade. i find this to be one of if not the most interesting colour choices, as dirk’s chosen colour, at a surface level, seems to represent a concept that is near antithetical to himself. according to most search engines, it is associated with warmth, excitement, joy, the sun… all things that aren’t necessarily characteristics of his. there is the association with creativity, which most definitely fits, but other than that…?
it seems an ill fit choice, until you look at orange in how it’s used. it is an incredibly hard colour to match and counter, especially in fashion, and isn’t commonly used for that reason. it doesn’t carry the sweet calmness of yellow but also not the ferocity and unmitigated energy of red. it is commonly thought to produce a feeling of hunger. seems to make more sense, doesn’t it?
then we have his other primary association: pink. not sweet baby pink or millenial pink or bubblegum pink but something that i’d describe as almost magenta. pink is one of the primary colours in the cmyk colour profile (the stuff used in printers), and it’s associated with kindness and compassion, love, sometimes. while those aren’t traits we might assign to dirk at the beginning of his arc, as act 6 goes on we learn he has a uniquely large heart. pink is all the things he believes himself not to be, add the association with femininity and you get a solid metaphor for his coming into himself as a gay man.
then there’s jake. his primary colour is dark green, which also happens to be a primary in the rgb colour profile. this colour fit is an odd case. by popular lore it is heavily associated with nature, life, growth, inner balance, which might fit jake to a point, but generally assumes themes and traits better suited to other characters. funnily enough though, the negative traits associated with green fit him pretty universally, envy not so much, but jealousy is a large part of his arc, and he proves to be quite materialistic in his life as jake harley.
the colour green in practice proves to be interesting again, as it is kind of an everything colour. i can’t think of a scenario where a shade of green wouldn’t be downright inappropriate to use, and that just about sums up how i feel about jake english early in his arc. he tries so hard to stay away from conflict and keep his friends happy he becomes a sort of social chameleon, mirroring whoever it is he’s talking to, even if it doesn’t make him happy. jake doesn’t know who he is, at this point in life. he knows what he *wants* to be and what he’s *expected* to be but reaching inside himself yields no result. by being appropriate in every scenario you lose an amount of character that others with more specialised uses will always hold over you.
the light yellow of the hope aspect is a fun one. yellow is generally associated with happiness and optimism, traits that jake shows in equal measures, though how genuine they are at any given moment is hard to parse, unless you of course are dirk strider. it’s supposed to produce enthusiasm and confidence, things that we see once again in jake harley. on the flip side… yellow is heavily associated with cowardice. and it’s very true. jake is a coward, and it’s something he spends a good chunk of act 6 maybe not… coming to terms with but finding out about himself. not that there’s anything bad about being a coward, in the case of homestuck especially, he would have been stupid if he wasn’t scared. speaking of; another association: naïveté. something jake heavily projects into his image in order to absolve himself of the consequences of his actions. he’s a bit of an asshole in that way, but not maliciously so.
now, let’s look at their colours together. orange and green make brown, which is not a colour very common in these sorts of analysis, but it nontheless proves fitting for their relationship, at least pregame. it is the colour of stability, reliability, but also dullness and timidity. jake and dirk were clearly very comfortable with each other and knew each other well: enough that jake was able to tell hal apart from dirk based on speech patterns alone. but their relationship as it was wasn’t completely fulfilling for both of them, at least dirk seemed to want to take things further for a long time before the game but was unable to due to his own fears and partially jake’s immaturity.
yellow and pink on the other hand? orange, again. this time it seems fitting to look at orange’s negative associations: immaturity, impulsivity, impatience. dominance, in a negative sense. this i think mirrors jake and dirk’s time as boyfriends during the game, before their breakup following trickster mode. their inability to communicate became their downfall when forced to communicate face to face. they stopped balancing each other out and closed themselves off in an effort to keep up the charade of a functional relationship. considering their lack of communication even before the game started, this wasn’t a surprising outcome, but a sad one nontheless.
still, they beat the game. and now they are just orange and green again, albeit joint kings of all consorts (the epilogues don’t exist). people often forget but orange and brown are two shades of the same colour. and i believe given time and methods of communication suited to both of them they can build up to brown again. better, stronger this time.

Elevate Your Style with Custom T-Shirt Printing in Singapore
Do you want to make custom-printed t-shirts? Whether for events, businesses or just for fun, printed tees are super trendy. They let you express your personality. But how do you get shirts printed with cool designs in Singapore? This blog tells you all about custom t-shirt printing in Singapore. We share easy tips on everything.
Print Unique Designs
Print any text, photos or artwork you like on t-shirts. Create your own graphics with the help of good design software. For example; Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop. Or find cool images and illustrations on stock websites. Just ensure any images used are copyright-free. Unique illustrated designs really make custom-printed tees stand out!
Tumblr media
Choose T-Shirt Colors
Pick t-shirt colours that match the theme, mood or vibe you want to convey. White and black shirts make prints look bold and striking. Coloured tees also work great, especially for subtle, tonal designs that blend nicely.
Decide Print Placement
Front chest prints are eye-catching and deliver maximum visibility. Full front prints make big stylish statements. Back prints are perfect for sports teams, events and businesses. Side panels, sleeves and shoulder prints enable quirky, creative aesthetics.
Get the Right Sizing
Order a range of t-shirt sizes to fit everyone getting printed tees. Get kids' sizes small, medium, and large for young ones. And men's / unisex adult sizes from small through XL or XXL as required.
Pick Quality T-Shirts
Use good quality, thick 100% cotton blank tees for long-lasting prints. Cotton-poly blends and tri-blend fabrics also work well. Ensure the tee material is soft and comfortable against the skin.
Select Print Method
For printing on coloured shirts, heat transfer vinyl prints show up vibrantly. For detailed multi-color designs, opt for digital direct-to-garment (DTG) printing which replicates colors and shading accurately. As a premium t-shirt printing in Singapore, DTG gives you photo-quality prints.
Consider Special Effects
Take printed tee designs up a notch with special effects! Add metallic foils or glitters for a touch of sheen. Use 3D puff inks to create raised, textured prints. Glow-in-the-dark and shimmer inks also look super cool. Other unique customisations include distressing, crackle effects, tone-on-tone prints and custom-sewn embellishments like patches or appliques.
Use A Reliable Printer
When getting custom t-shirts made, choose a reputable, experienced t-shirt printing in Singapore with consistently good reviews for print quality and longevity. Check their portfolio for the printing capabilities you need.
Conclusion
Getting custom-printed tees in Singapore is easy when you know what to do. First, decide on a cool design concept and the t-shirt colours you want. Then select the ideal print placement, sizing and any special effects. Pick quality blank tee shirts and the right printing method for your needs. Work with reliable, skilled t-shirt printing in Singapore services who can bring your vision to life. Get samples checked before bulk ordering.

Painting The Tusked Marauders of Gauntwood
So my pile of shame is ever growing, for those outside the hobby, a pile of shame is usually a stack of built or un-built miniatures that sit there, as grey as the day they were manufactured, waiting for their turn to get painted... More often than not, people's pile of shames only ever grow...
I got back into the hobby last year by getting HeroQuest (the original), followed by a 3D Printer, followed by having the 12 year old boy inside me being crushed by the bitter disappointment that no-one in our local Games Workshop or "Friendly Local Gaming Stores" are at all interested...
So I've been doing some printing and doing some painting.
So here's the start of The Tusked Marauders of Gauntwood from Daybreak Miniatures.
So I am still a beginner, I want to be as good as the likes of Sergio Calvo or be able to paint to the unrealistic standard you see on the box art on any Warhammer figure. It maybe an impossible goal, but it is a goal, the only way I can get there is practice. I don't like the idea of sharing my painted miniatures online, but I know we all got to start some where.
So with so much grey on my glass shelves, I've started with The Tusked Marauders of Gauntwood.
I generally start by doing the bases to everything in that faction, this then standardizes what they all look like. I like doing bases, it's either Green grass on Rocks, or Rocks with other Rocks. Bit of a base coat, followed by a wash or two, followed by a base coat & layer, and a clean black rim to make them tidy.
After the bases, I worked on Dongli Smite on Head Runner, (*coughs* Squig), working on the Head-Runner first, then on Dongli Smite. I sort of made my first mistake, I was trying out different reds on the Head-Runner, got it to how I liked it, then by the time I came to do the second model, Krimli Smite on Head Runner, I'd forgotten which paints I'd used. (I guess it makes the models unique, but I would prefer them to look the same).
Problem with these the goblins are tiny, so it's hard to get every detail (or in my case, any detail). It's not a fault, and in hindsight I should of printed them bigger, (although the Head Hunters would of been too big?) just my current painting level isn't quite there yet to get all the details. Luckily, base coat green on the skin, silver on the armour, wash the skin with a green, was the armour with Nuln Oil, and it makes it look a lot better than my skill is actually at. (it also took me a while to notice they are wearing little leather helmets).
Tumblr media
Then onto the Spiders, I was really looking forward to trying out a few new things here.
Learning from my mistake of not painting simular miniatures together in stages, I painted both spiders together. Painted them black, then dry-brushed them up to a dark blue.
Tumblr media
Using a bone colour for it's claws, shaded, re-added base colour of the top, followed by a lighter bone colour, then a very faint brighter cream to highlight the tops.
My favorite part of the spiders were the markings on their torso - painted this area as white as white would go then using Vallejo Blood Red with some Red Ink did a few layers with this to make the red stand out. Then I had the bright idea of doing a thin black line around the outside to try and make the markings stand out even more, this was OK, but not the effect I wanted, then almost ruined the lot by putting a pink line on the edge of the markings... lesson learn't quit whilst you are ahead.
Tumblr media
Painted the tiny goblins in the same way. Base coat, wash, drop mini, snap leg, search for leg under the desk, glue leg, get angry as glued leg to hand, repaint broken parts, highlight with original base coat, then highlight again with a lighter green.
I used the Butchers Knife on Havor Split on Black Weaver to practice my wet-blending.
Then to get them on the bases with out gluing myself to the wall.
Out comes the fake-Dremel I got for Christmas that I get moaned I don't use. Drill a long thin hole in the bottom..
Tumblr media
Feed a cut up paper-clip in one end and glue, then drill a hole in the base, feed the paper clip in and glue. Sits in there nice and securly.
I also need to spend some more time working out how to take better videos and pictures of the miniatures. Open to any suggestions any one might have.
So there we have it. First and the largest of The Tusked Marauders of Gauntwood done.
Now to move on to the rest of those pointy little goblins.

In the dream, I'm in my mother's room back when when it was my bed and her bed pushed together and I’m trying on a dress it’s a lovely dress it looks like a Chinese qi-pao inspired dress, with lots of different colours. I feel really beautiful but the top boob section doesn’t really fit properly. It keeps sagging down when I'm not noticing and for some reason I am flat-chested. I am putting on a necklace that matches the dress. I am just trying it on and frolicking about in my room for a bit trying to see how it feels to put it on and then by mum comes home and I am quickly trying to take it off before she sees. But she catches me before I can remove it and she says I look beautiful she wants to look at me with the dress on but I am really shy.
I am at work but it doesn’t look like work and I am on the floor of the shop, sitting a table and I am doing some sort of work like writing down things in a journal but I am not even writing down anything that has to do with pharmacy. I am writing about my dreams or something trying to remember a dream. I am writing about a dream where I have feelings for an older man but I am a child or something. I have drawn something, a pumpkin carriage like in Cinderella. And then a customer comes a middle aged lady who came to collect something I had organised for her and she says something MN before she leaves, she complains about me. She says I am good but I’m very dry and something else, like I'm cold and that he should speak to me about that. He doesn’t really say anything just nods but I know he has my back. When I hear this lady talking about me I quickly get up and go into the side room to avoid her coming across me when she walks to the exit door and also to make things less awkward for MN. When she leaves my coworkers don’t even acknowledge what she said, they surround me and give me pleasant attention. I am still writing in my book, I tell MN I am almost done
I am in the milk bar and I am by myself during opening hours. I am upstairs kind of not even paying attention to the shop, I'm not really sure what I am doing, it's like I am waiting for some guy to come home that I have a crush on. He eventually comes home, having sneaked through the back door or window, and he is lying in the dark, in a room seemingly exhausted. I want to go into the room and observe him, say hi or give him some affection, something like that.
I can sense that family has comes home all of a sudden and I have to pretend I am working so I pop downstairs really quick where some lady has come in and she is impatient like she has been waiting there for a little while. I go to serve her like nothing is amiss. She wants something printed so I go to the printer which is where the automatic sink used to be and I print off her order and as the pages come out they fall to the ground and I have to pick them up and put them back in order. I am a bit annoyed by this and I am thinking about not charging her since I made her wait and also these pages had touched the ground so it was a bit unhygeinic.
I am taking my friends home in a car that’s stacked with other cars, like how you would stack a shopping trolley at the supermarket, like 4 or more cars stuck together. And to keep the cars connected together, there are rubber bands that correspond to each of the cars, all tied together on the gear stick and same set up on the indicators. There are the same type of cars set up like buses driving along side me on the road. It is like a convoy. I am following them somewhere or we seem to know where we are going. We stop at a stop light. And then I lose sight of the other two cards, the police pull me over. Before she can come over to my window and interrogate me I am thinking about un-tying the the rubber bands to disconnect the cars from each other as quickly as possible but I don’t actually do it. It's a transitory fear. The policewoman doesn’t even give a ticket or warning or anything bad she just tells me something helpful like my bonnet is up or something, it’s like she doesn’t even notice that the cars are all stacked together like shopping trolleys. Then I say to my friend in the passenger seat, the car is set up like this, because I’m going to a party later of some kind like out at night and my friends might want lifts home, because they’ll be drunk or super happy or something. I am taking responsibility but I am happy too. It’s like I’m a willing designated driver.

Interior design ideas for ski lodges and ski chalets using Pete Caswell Art and Paintings designs.
Pete has worked on some fabulous interior design projects with clients in Europe and the USA. It all started with his ski prints, ski posters and original ski paintings which added a splash of colour and vibrancy to the traditional ski chalet and lodge decor of old skis and vintage ski posters.
An abstract close up of a skier makes for a great cushion design
While Pete loves some of the historic design ideas of the last century he is keen to work with interior designers to bring the best of his art into these modern inspiring buildings and make them sing a new song.
There are a few ideas that Pete has on his ski print and poster site but in recent years it has been easier to work directly with interior design clients to get the best results. Pete has so many ski paintings in many colours even black and whites or muted colours. Over the years he has taken some close up photographs of sections of paintings with bold colour schemes, fun textures or just crazy skiers and snowboarders. So once you have a few ideas its best to contact Pete direct.
Lodge Chalet Decor Abstract section from one of Pete’s mountain paintings to give some great vibrant colours
Some projects have involved extra large prints and posters. Sometimes original ski paintings are re done with a twist and made to fit the space. Some clients have chosen their favourite paintings which have sold over the years and Pete has re painted them in the correct sizes to fit the space. For extra large ski prints and posters you need to contact Pete directly to custom order through another printer.
In recent years one of Pete’s loves has been taking sections from paintings and printing them onto materials for cushions, curtains and throws to really add a sense of fun and drama to a room. Sometimes just budget cushions from a print on design manufacturer Pete uses are great or sometimes for a higher quality, some special fabrics are ordered to print on and the cushions are made up to a custom order. It’s so much fun and the results can be dazzling with some of the amazing images Pete has in his ski art collection. Contact Pete to discus some ideas
A crazy snowboarder used as a cushion design for your lodge decor

Nutmeg!
Nutmeg -> how’s you room/home decorated? Do you have a specific theme or style going on?
I don't think there's much of a theme. Blue is the main colour going on (with dark grey and white). I love the colour blue. The shelves i do attempt some colour coordination, ones more pastel themed, one is blue and silver (above my desk) and the other is idk think skz all in or itzy in the morning themed. I for some reason love glass ornaments and mirror things (i have 2 mirror jewelry boxes, they just look pretty).
Tiny things, I don't know what to call them, tiny cat (when i mean tiny i mean about 3cm), tiny bear, tiny pokémon etc on a corner of ine shelf together so that they have company. Isla's snakes are there too.
A draw under the bed with cuddlies. I only have 3 on the bed, saves having to take them off every 4 days to change the bedding.
I have 5 house plants (if an avocado tree counts as a house plant), if anything happened to them, I'd go into full mourning. Just like when i found out basil plants only lived for a year and mine died last year....
I do want a baby chilli plant. I saw them in Waitrose and they looked adorable. Basically plants are the reason I'm still alive, metaphorically and scientifically.
I have a desk. I keep my pens in a tiny tiny shopping basket, colour coordinated row if highlighters because yes, and my skz desk calendar. Also Milo the bear sits on the desk too. He was given to me by my manager on one of my first days at work. Mum likes to keep a giant flipping printer on it and I've been fighting to get it out of my bedroom, alas I've failed for the past 2 years (it was only meant to be a temporary thing whilst the lounge was being redecorated....). I have a poster frame next to the desk with the in life grey poster in it. Problem is, the poster is horizontal, but the frame can only be put vertically. Which means i can only see the poster in the correct direction when i wake up on my side in the morning....
I have 2 lamps, one is a small lava lamp (it kind of looks like the oan flag) and the other idk how to describe, it's a dim light and makes a nice noise in my opinion. When you turn it on, it blows beads up a clear tube and then they go down a slide? That coils around the tube? If that makes sense??
I have medals from when i used to be an athlete on my curtain drawback hook (yes i removed the drawback and replaced it with that. Logic!). Pride flag and bp calender on the door and that's that really.
Oh. But my favourite bit is the shelf unit where i stuck glow in the dark stars. As a child I'd always wanted them, so oneday i went and bought them because tbh even at the age i am now, glow in the dark stars are very appealing. They're nice to look at and calming when insomnia hits or nightmares.

Your Home Office Desk is the Centre of Activity
It does not matter if you choose modern, contemporary, stylish, or a functional home office desk; it will be the centre of activity and the focal point of your office setting.Today most office desks are designed for computers, and computer work stations. They are designed to help you stay organised and focused. For modern home office desks take a browse at www.londonofficesupplies.co.uk
The bottom line is always the main focus when you run any type of business, home or not, so the amount of monies you budget for home office supplies is very important. The home office store you choose will impact how well you stay within the budget you have outlined for your business. One home office store many not provide all the products and services you require, therefore comparison shop often in order to get the best products and services at the best price.
You can purchase corner desks, desks with hutches, or traditional styled desks. From beautiful golden oaks to dark mahoganies home office desks are easy to accessorise. Most retail stores sell coat racks, work desks, filing cabinets, and storage shelves that will match the decor and furniture in your office.
Unlike office desk chairs, comfort is not as important when you are purchasing an office desk. But you will want to make sure that your chair compliments the height and width of your desk. Secondly, you will need to make sure that your computer system and printer fit into the dimensions of the desk, nothing more frustrating than having a beautiful new desk that will not hold your computer system and printer properly.
Many retailers like https://www.simplyhomeofficefurniture.co.uk/ offer wonderful and affordable desk sets at reasonable prices. Depending on the style, texture, or model you choose. Prices start from £150.00 to £500.00 plus shipping and handling. Comparison shopping will help you find the best quality furniture for a good price. Look for close-out and seasonal sales as well. They offer discounts if you are purchasing multiple pieces of furniture.
You will be working long hours, and spending many hours at your home office desk so design your office in a manner that make you feel good. When you feel comfortable, projects will be free-flowing and productive. Now that you have designed and worked out the details for the area your want to transform into your new home office, with your lists ready, your budget worked out, it's time to start comparison shopping at various home office stores.
Cheap Home Office furniture - Brand Names at Bargain Prices
The common perception is that you get what you pay for, the higher the price the higher the quality. Higher quality office furniture will sustain normal wear and tear longer, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you can not find quality brand name office furniture at bargain prices. You will be surprised what you can find when you shop around.
There are a number of places your find discounted or discontinued office furniture. Keep a lookout for home and office retail stores that are going out of business, as they will usually offer an inventory reduction price that can save you up to 75% or more. Many retailers have end of season, income tax refund, or clearance sales on name brand items. These types of items are usually a discontinued style, colour, or model.
Retailers will stock pile furniture items that have been damaged during shipping, or have been returned by unhappy customers. They usually wait until they have accumulated enough of the office furniture to hold a scratch and dent type of clearance sale. Typically most of the damage is minor and barely noticeable, if it does have significant damage: you will need to evaluate how much time and money that would be involved to refinish the pieces.
Another popular option when you are looking for cheap home office furniture is to purchase items made from lesser grades of oak or pine that are unfinished. This might be a good option if you are crafty or know someone who will do the work for you at a reasonable price. Finding the right furnishings will take a little time and effort, but in the long run you will be proud of yourself. You have just furnished your home office with beautiful furniture at bargain prices.

Finish Colouration POSTCARDS AN Minimum-Terms label Advertizement Alternate
Altogether color in impression services are nigh likely among the about high-priced impression providers in the late only with the evolution of producer-novel printing process innovations comprehensive examination colour printing has really get an low-toll printing process assistance.

Avenger’s Compound March 12th, 2018:
I raced towards the elevator as best I could in my heels, nearly dropping the manila folder that had been too large to fit inside my purse.
“Evening.” Travis, the ex-SHIELD agent, looked up from the UPs package he was signing for and smiled at me. His white teeth contrasted against his dark skin. He wore his usual uniform of black cargo pants and a black t-shirt that accentuated his muscles.
“Sorry Travis,” I said without stopping. “We can catch up later.”
Travis shook his head and laughed. His booming voice echoed throughout the halls of the compound. “Tony doesn’t pay you enough.”
I reached my destination out of breath and with swollen feet. I removed my shoes and wiggled my toes. Elevators in the Avengers compound, I had realized from my year of working as Tony’s liaison, were a lot like printers; They never worked when you needed them to because they could sense your fear.
The button for the elevator flashed a bright red after I had pressed it. I tapped my foot against the laminated floor and crossed my arms over my chest. Unlike myself, the elevator doors remained stationary. I pressed the button gently a second time, and then a third, and by the fourth, I was punching it.
“Not sure if hitting it will help.”
I turned around and looked up at the person behind me. “Don’t tell me hitting things doesn’t work. You punched Hitler and it ended a war.”
“I didn’t actually punch Hitler,” Steve Rogers replied sheepishly. The chrome-coloured elevator reflected Captain America failing to readjust his necktie. “And besides, I don’t think this elevator has started any wars.”
“That we know of.” I swatted Steve’s hand and took hold of his tie. “There,” I said, smoothing down the grey fabric.
“Thanks.” Steve pulled an ID badge from his pocket. His hands shook as he tried to clip it to his suit jacket.
“Nervous about the senate hearing,” I commented.
“Let’s just say I don’t like public speaking.” Steve looked me up and down as the doors to the elevator finally opened. “You look nice. What’s the occasion?”
“I’ve got a date.” I swayed back and forth on my heels and tugged on the fabric of my black silk dress.
“Finally said yes to Mr Facebook?” Steve asked. He pressed the button for the roof where the Avenger’s helicopter took off from.
I rolled my eyes and pressed the button for the 12th floor. I felt a shiver run up my spine. “Don’t call Eric that. Makes it sound like I’m going on a date with Mark Zuckerburg.”
The remainder of the elevator ride with Steve was spent in comfortable silence. It wasn’t until Steve’s ID card fell to the ground that we continued our conversation.
“These things are always a bitch,” I said, bending down to pick up the badge. With expert precision, I fastened the ID Card to Steve’s suit jacket. “Took me a few senate hearings to master it.”
“How long do they usually go for?”
“Depends,” I shrugged, “This one probably won’t be so long. It’s already starting in the evening. Thank Tony for that.”  I pulled my phone out of my purse, my heart started pounding when I saw it was already 5:30. “Shit,” I mumbled.
“I’m assuming they are going to ask me questions about the signing of the accords, huh?”
“Yeah, probably.” My head was down as I scrolled through text messages with Eric. I read the last one I had sent this morning. “Looking forward to dinner tonight at 6:00. Le Bernardin.”
The musical chime of the elevator caused me to jump. I took a deep breath, and clutched my file even harder.
“Everything okay?” Steve asked. I still hadn’t left the elevator.
“It will be, once I’m finished delivering this file to the prince of darkness,” I answered, waving the yellow folder labelled “Senator profiles.”
“Loki was supposed to have gotten that file last week.”
  “Yup.”
“And the hearing is in an hour.”
“It sure is,” I offered Steve a toothless smile. Steve in turn looked at me, with a raised eyebrow.
        **************************************************
“You look ridiculous,” Loki greeted me. I rubbed my knuckles which had grown sore from banging on Loki’s door.
“And you’re not wearing the suit I got you,” I said, as I squeezed past Loki, who was blocking me from entering his room. His hair was damp and he wore black pants and a simple dark green sweater. Needless to say, he looked comfortable. “This,” I held up the file and slammed it down on Loki’s coffee table. I nearly knocked over the Jenga box Thor had left, “Is for you.”
“Not interested.” A green glow washed over Loki instantly drying his hair.
“You know what?” I threw my hands in the air, “I’ve been trying to help you for three weeks. You want to go to the senate hearing unprepared. Be my guest. I don’t care anymore.”
“I’m not going, Bug.” Loki sauntered over to the freshly painted black varnished bookshelf that had been left behind by Wanda. Its original red oak colour had been completely erased. Most furniture in Loki’s room had once belonged to Wanda. The only thing distinguishably Loki were the various paintings he had hanging on the walls. The latest one, depicting a naked man and woman, in a forest with a snake, hanging over the fireplace.
I watched Loki select “Frankenstein's Monster,” from the shelf and take a seat on the black leather lounge chair, his feet resting on the ottoman. I couldn't help the small hitch in my breath as he licked his finger to turn the page.
“You don’t have a choice,” I pulled the ottoman out from under Loki’s feet. His boots slammed against the hardwood. “You’ve been subpoenaed.”
“I don’t know what that means.”
“You would if you LISTENED to any of the senate prep, I’ve been forced to give you.”
“Nor do I care,” Loki pulled his footrest back towards himself.
“Oh, you’ve made that painfully clear. But you should care. Do you want to live on New Asgard with Thor or not?”
Loki sighed and set his book down. “I want to be left alone.”
“Enjoy the RAFT because that’s exactly where you’re headed.”
“The RAFT?” Loki looked up at the ceiling, “Why does the sound familiar?”
I clenched my fist. My blood had begun to boil. “You really haven’t been listening to anything I’ve been telling you? The RAFT is a prison where the other half of the Avengers have been- Why am I wasting my breath?”
“I’ve been asking myself that question for a month,” Loki said with a smirk before turning to another page of his book.
I rolled my eyes and crossed my arm. Loki was arrogant. Rude. I wanted to throw something at him. My eyes landed on the Jenga box Thor had left behind on his last visit. God that was a disaster.
“You oaf,” Loki had shouted, “You bumped the table.”
Thor called my name and pointed to the fallen blocks, “Tell him I didn't bump the table.”
Loki and I were supposed to be going over questions he should avoid answering at the hearing. Thor had strolled in believing his brother needed a break.
“Thor we really need to work,” I had told the God of Thunder.
“If you're looking for something to throw at me, can I recommend a pillow?” Loki's voice brought me back to reality. His eyes had never left his book.
I froze, my eyes widening, and I began looking around the room.
“I can't read your mind, Bug,” He looked up from his book and gave me a smile, “You're just very predictable.”
“And do you know what you are?”
“What am I?” Loki leaned forward, a smirk on his face.
“You’re-” My phone started to ring. I pulled it out of my purse and swiped the talk button. Loki’s nose scrunched, and his brows furrowed when I held my index finger up to him. “Hello?” I said into the other end of my phone. Loki rose from his seat and walked towards me as I listened to the woman on the other end of the call informing me that my reservations would have to be pushed to 6:30. “That’s great,” I told the hostess as I walked away from Loki and headed towards his kitchen, “I’m running late myself. Thanks for the heads up.” I set my phone down on Loki’s kitchen island and glared at the god following me around his room. “Will you stop trying to listen in on my conversations?”
Loki placed his hands in his pockets and looked down at his feet. “You have a date,” he stated.
“Yes,” I sighed.
A few particles of dust fell to the ground as Loki wiped his finger along the surface of the kitchen island. “Who with?” he shrugged.
“Why do you care?”
“Just curious.”
I closed my eyes and bit my bottom lip. “His name is Eric. Okay? I knew him from high school. His sister used to be friends with my sister. Happy?”
“Not quite. Something doesn’t add up.”
“What?” I asked, taking a gulp of air. My palms began to sweat.
“Why would Eric want to go on a date with you?”
“Okay,” I pursed my lips and nodded my head, “I’ve wasted enough time. The hearing is in-” I tapped my phone - “50 minutes. I suggest you use your magic and pop off to Washington.”
“I can’t teleport myself,” Loki scoffed.
“And I can’t stand being in a room with you. So, I’m leaving.”
I barely made it two steps when the lights in Loki’s room went dark. My hands began to shake, and my breath became shallow. It only took a few seconds for the lights to come back on, but instead of its usual fluorescent hue, Loki’s room was basked in a red glow. I had to cover my ears as a loud, unnerving alarm could be heard throughout the compound. The windows surrounding the far end of Loki’s room were covered by a metal slab that fell down from the ceiling. Another metal shield raised from the floor, covering Loki’s front door. The God of Mischief himself gently took my arm and moved me so I now stood behind him. Two daggers materialized in his hands.
“Attention all staff, and guests,” FRIDAY’s voice echoed throughout the room. The Avengers compound is in a mandatory lockdown. Please remain where you are. This is not a drill. I repeat. The Avengers compound is in a mandatory lockdown. Please remain where you are.”
As FRIDAY continued to repeat her message a few more times, Loki and I looked at each other. The realization of our situation hitting us at the exact same time.
I broke the silence first.
“Fuck.”
