my most controversial buffy opinion about this season (6) is that i’m not actually upset about the times the characters are less kind or more thoughtless or cold and impatient and worse. they're handling trauma badly! that's a story you can tell. the stuff that is happening and has happened isn't the stuff you can get through in a two-parter episode and an aesop about friendship anymore. ever since ‘the body’ the story began to be about (even before ‘the body’...but more slowly) how change is sometimes permanent. and how the only way to live with that most thudding and harsh reality is to move with the punches. you can't be who you were so you have to find a way to be who you ARE that won't kill you . and you call it growth

jameson and xander head canons

i'm having too much fun making these. i can't stop

jameson and xander absolutely love making fun of grayson. they once replaced his entire underwear drawer with thongs.

although xander and jamie seem like they're fine all the time, they absolutely aren't. they feel most comfortable talking to each other about their trauma and insecurities bc they both know what it's like to put on fake smiles.

avery, jamie, xander, and max have movie nights all the time.

jamie once replaced the sugar with salt before one of xander's scone baking sessions. when he took a bite, he vomited everywhere and proceeded to install a contraption in his room that would violently wake him up the next morning (idrk what this could be but you get the gist of it). xander then posted a story about how betrayed he felt.

jamie loves listening to xander ramble

if xander ever asked him to not risk his life doing smth wild, he would listen bc he has a huge soft spot for his brother. he hates hurting him (ofc he hates hurting his other brothers too, but he can never resist xander's pleas). the only other person he would listen to is avery.

xander and jamie love going out together to buy little things for their girlfriends

xander and jamie always asks the others' gfs (so jamie and max/xander and avery) for dating advice or gift ideas.

jamie and xander have a movie night once a week (if jamie is travelling or smth, they either do it virtually or they postpone it)

when jamie was in school, he could never focus on his hmk unless xander was there.

when jamie was younger and couldn't fall asleep, he used to love listening to xander ramble about his experiments. it used to put him at ease and it still does

xander looks up to jamie sm. he used to wish he was as fearless as him when he was younger

xander once had a panic attack and jamie made him scones (they actually didn't turn out so bad)

they love giving each other one gag gift and one meaningful gift on their bdays.

sometimes they'll buy little presents that remind them of each other and place them on their pillows.

sometimes they'll do karaoke just the two of them (they'll sing to songs like my heart will go on etc)

during the eras tour, they would both talk about how their gfs are so beautiful, they would be simping so hard in the corner. (fans took pictures of them looking super in love, and they went viral)

when taylor starts performing ybwm, they start trying to seduce their gfs (max absolutely loves it, she feels like a book characters/avery pretends she hates it but she secretly loves it and jamie knows that).

they absolutely love the willow performance (don't ask questions)

they cry to all the sad songs (for example, marjorie, tolerate it, champagne problems, etc).

they both strut around arm in arm during style.

when they were younger and jamie used to be sad, xander used to try his best to come up with small little toys that would cheer him up (i'm talking 4-5 years old)

they both go live and do q&a's. they're super attentive to their fans and love interacting with them.

during said lives, people always ask them about their gfs and they always start gushing over them.

they're both super active on tiktok. they always comment the craziest shit on each others posts and the fans eat it up. they send each other thirst traps that fans made of them.

when they meet fans on the street and they ask them if they're willing to do a tiktok with them, they always say yes. (one time, this girl asked them to do this tiktok dance, and it went viral)

whenever jamie is sad, xander will plant little surprises all over his room for him to find (some gag gifts, gadgets, meaningful little things he found that reminded him of jamie etc)

they sometimes do each other's make up for fun (they think now one knows, but nash does and he finds it adorable.\

they also do skincare together (nash also knows about this)

xander once recorded jamie singing single ladies in his room and is now using it as blackmail material.

that's it for now although i literally have so many more ideas. i found it so easy to come up with head canons for them. i'm starting to sense a pattern with the eras tour hcs. i might make an entire separate post about it. might be a pt.2 but i'm not sure yet. to lazy to proof read this so i apologize for any spelling mistakes.

i love all of the characters names. how do u go about naming them?

Ah! I love this question. Haha I actually have a pretty long name-selection process (I guess 'cause I feel like names are such a big part of a character) so—definitely happy to share it.

I start with gender-neutral names (because as y'all know I like the idea of gender-selectable ROs), and I search specifically for names based on language/culture.

Then I just went with... mouth-feel/vibes.

Like, Tobin Harris felt strong, solid (thanks to the hard T and N beginning and end) and yet a little soft too, with the rounded "O" and similarity to Robin (reminiscent of a small bird). So yeah, it felt perfect for a character that I imagined to be a bit like an oak tree—calm and assured but also gentle. "Harris" because I really felt like the "A" sound and "S" sound were delightful and balanced 'Tobin' out.

Rayyan Afiq felt strong in a "hard", fiery, 'defined edges' sort of way, maybe it's the double "A" vowels in Rayyan, and the finality of the Q in Afiq? I also liked the symmetry of the double Y's because somehow it kinda adds a kind of willow-y, enigmatic, lingering/echoey dimension to the hardness of the name too. And I thought Afiq went well 'cause it's punchy.

Sam O'Connelly—I thought Sam was just... so fitting in that it's cute and simple and idk, my mental image for Sams (both male and female) match my idea of the character perfectly. I know Sams of both genders (in real life) and they're both funny and silly and big-hearted and goofy. O'Connelly because I thought the name needed musical/lyrical/lilting component too, and also I definitely imagine Sam being of Irish American descent.

Guillaume/Geneviève Lavigne—For G, I just had to go with different names for the f! and m! version because European/romance languages are so gendered that it just felt weird to try to find a gender-neutral name. Geneviève came first, because it just felt perfect—flowy and just rolls off the tongue with a bit of mystique? So then I tried to find a m! name that gave the same vibes. Guillaume had good mouth-feels. As for Lavigne, I looked through a long list of French last names, waffled a lot, and eventually settled on something that I felt matched well and sounded good.

YIPPEE OKAY TOOK A WHIKE TO WRITE BUT HERE WE GOOO

His name is Tachycardia- He’s based off of and used to be my Mind in the Trial AU, Static. Unfortunately for Static/Cardia, I have “the more I love a character, the more I must traumatize him” disease, and I certainly traumatized the hell out of him badly.

He’s limited to the out-of-canon Free For All/Bad End chats in the CJVerse chatroom, as there’s no way he can exist in canon. The AU that he belongs to is called SELF, and it’s ran by me and Q-ott, though inspired by @squeak-4657.

SELF is based around the themes of self-perception and body horror, so please be warned.

Basically, backstory time. In canon, Static has Storm (a Mind written by Q-ott, the two are best friends to an unhealthy degree) over visiting his Psyche for medical reasons despite Storm’s resistance to that fact. Storm was on the verge of passing out from not eating or sleeping, Static had to practically kidnap this man to get food into him and make him rest, and Static had nursed him back to health.

When it was time for Storm to go back to his home Psyche, however, Static himself was so exhausted from taking care of him that he input the wrong universe code in the transmitter. He sent Storm to a completely foreign, abandoned Psyche by accident, and Storm subsequently lost chatroom access. Static had thought he had killed his best friend.

Around a week later, however, Storm had regained chat access for a small period of time. And he was convinced that this was a murder attempt by Static. Hurling insults, saying he should have never trusted Static and an array of hurtful things.

Static didn’t listen.

He was convinced the most logical thing to do? Was to send himself to said Psyche to retrieve him.

He had informed another close friend of his, Willow, Storm’s Heart, what the universe code was when he sent Storm there by accident.

Static and Storm were stranded in this Psyche alone for another week before Willow shows up, too.

And they lose chat access entirely for four months straight.

In that time, the Psyche has strange effects on them, unique to any other psyche (that they know of at that time). It was discovered when a few days later, Willow had awoken from sleep to find shackles had appeared on his wrist, with seemingly no clasp or way to get them on or off.

It only spiraled from there.

Willow grew countless feet of heavy chains over the four-month period with seemingly no source, the weight crushing him and causing him to be barely able to function. But he does function, somehow. Walking is a Sisyphean task for him, but he does so anyway.

Storm began to freeze all he touched. It started off with a thin layer of easily-melted frost, but by the time the four months are up everything he touches becomes an unmeltable ice sculpture. The only thing resistant to such is the floor, and even then a pool of ice will form and spread if he stands in one place too long, eventually melting. Midas touch, but ice instead of gold. Nothing valuable in isolation, is there?

And Cardia? Oh, Cardia…

The first sign something was wrong was when he began to lose his eyesight. The color of his irises swirling and shifting as his pupils constricted over the course of days. Eventually becoming pupil-less and entirely blind, with his irises continuing to shift and swirl between varying shades of blues and purples.

Next, his blood began to shift color. Static has blue blood which glows like a glow stick, which gives him a sickly, ghostly pale skin and glowing blue blushes. Tachycardia? He has a typical human complexion now, with red blood and a rosy (though still extremely pale) skin tone.

Lastly, the regulator which he uses to speak without a stutter and in his preferred deep register melts into his neck. Sinking into his skin, cold metal burning him as it burrows into his flesh. Voice being corrupted- he has the undertone of a Heart now, sounding like an underlay. When he gets emotional, the Heart’s voice grows louder until it is the overlay.

Tachycardia struggles with these shifts, as do them all. He tries to stay stoic, like he used to be as Static, but he always felt he was too overemotional to be a Mind. Finally, he snaps. He lets himself experience his emotions properly and fully. The only problem is, by that time, everyone had completed their transformation fully.

And the other two can’t handle a wallowing Mind who is having a breakdown on the daily, despite their best efforts. He keeps spiralling, not knowing how to control his emotions now that they’ve been unleashed. He falls into apathy, despite the combined efforts of himself, Storm, and Willow. He has things that help, for example copious amounts of plushes to help deal with his newly-admitted touch starvation, and a tablet to listen to music and audiobooks on. But he’s still volatile.

Eventually, when he believes they’re stuck like this forever, he asks if he can change his name from Static to Tachycardia. It was a carefully chosen name, meaning a heart condition which causes the heart to beat erratically/quickly, but also because it is able to be shortened.

He gave Willow the ability to use Tach for him, and only Willow. Storm could use Tachy, and only Storm. Either could use Cardia for him. And he asked if they could change their names, too. It reminded him of times past.

Willow chose Sisyphus. Storm chose Midas.

Time continued on like this for a bit. And then, one day, the chatroom reappeared.

But it hadn’t been like before… it’s the Bad End chatroom- where everyone they knew is Also different, somehow. Fucked over, as well, from a host of different timelines. Then, they gain access to Free For All, where multiple versions of the same character may interact.

No one recognizes him, until he drops enough hints. He doesn’t want to be recognized, ashamed, but lonely enough to want to hear from his old friends again… and he does reconnect with some. Just as painful as you can imagine.

I love this traumatized motherfucker. He’s great.

Q - A ship you’ve abandoned and why - Hunter/Luz. I shipped them when they first appeared together because they just seemed cute together. Since then I've stopped and how ship Hunter/Willow (yes, I also ship Luz/Amity. That was always my main Owl House ship for Luz). I stopped because I see Hunter and Luz as a more brother sister relationship now, especially with how the characters have developed both with each other and Willow and Amity.

X - top 5-10 characters who are yoUR PRECIOUS BABIES AND YOU WILL DIE DEFENDING THEM - Azula. She was a fourteen year old girl trying to get her father to love her! She doesn't deserve to just be thrown in an asylum and forgotten about. Catra. Similar reasons. She was a victim of abuse who learned (and continues to learn) how to do better. Lois. Apparently I need to defend Lois from MAWS now after the last episode. Clearly it's a big point for this version that she doesn't like to be lied to so of course she gets mad when she finds out Clark is lying. Is jumping off a roof a little far? Yes, but I see where she why she did it. Lin. That woman did nothing wrong in the entire show and yet people take Suyin's side in their argument. if Suyin's cut had been a little lower it would have killed her and, on top of that, she never even apologized for it! Finally, Adam. In every version (maybe minus the CGI one) this poor kid is just given powers and told "you have to defend your home and can never tell anyone your secret" then has to live with being called a coward by his father and best friend/love interest.

For the art trademark thing: you know that feeling, when it's been a long day and your back is tight, then you lay down and can physically feel your spine decompressing and tension melting? Like you can lift your hand and you'll just be a willow branch draping gracefully?

All the movement in your art looks like that feeling. Hair, eyes, limb placement, all of it. Your art trademark to me is movement that makes me think your characters are that comfortable.
