Steve’s not entirely sure why he does it.
Okay, that might be a bit of a lie. He knows why he does it — the idea of pressing a sweet kiss to your cheek has been the focus of several chin-in-hand fantasies for months. He’s tracked over a dozen scenarios of it in his mind, a hundred times over.
It’s the perfect non-committal move. One that his nerves could potentially handle to actually go through with. Because see, if it goes wrong, it can all be written off as platonic. He's kissed Robin on the cheek before. Friends can kiss each other on the cheek — especially if it’s as a thank-you, which he has definitely decided is the most natural way to do it, if he ever were to.
And if goes right...
Well, that’s where Steve’s mind wanders toward most of the time, til he’s aching inside from how lovesick he is. How terribly unfair of the world to make his heart latch onto his closest friend. To make his charisma and flirt fail him when he really needs it; to put you in this elevated untouchable space where Steve feels like he’s not allowed to feel this way. Yet he does, yet it yearns between every rib, til he feels it in every breath.
So, sure he knows why he does it; but honest, he’s not expecting it from himself.
It’s certainly spur of the moment. That’s what Steve blames it on when he blinks, heart thundering in his chest, nerves turned to 11, and his face rivaling the sun in heat.
Because, fuck, when he’d leaned down to press a quick kiss to your cheek in a thank-you — you’d brought by him lunch at work just because you're sweet like that — you had turned. And a kiss aimed for your cheek, instead found your lips.
You blink at him, clearly surprised. Steve can’t blame you, considering he just, albeit accidentally, kissed you full on the lips. In the middle of the Family Video at 1pm on a Friday.
Steve had lent a lot of time to the thought of what it might be like to kiss you, to kiss you properly. And, shit, it was so far from what had just transpired, that shoddy quick kiss that was over as quick as it started.
You blink at him again, licking your lips and Steve can’t help but watch your mouth. His brain taunts him with the knowledge he's technically kissed it now. God, was it possible to have a heart attack this young?
His heart was racing, palms getting clammy and Steve briefly prayed for all those head injuries to strike him in the form of amnesia here and now. For being your best friend, he’s suddenly impossibly unsure of the emotions that shutter across your features.
You clench your fists at your sides, swallow thickly, your eyes shifting about his face... nervously?
His hope both manages to rise and plunge simultaneously and shit, this definitely feels like a heart attack. Pure mortification is clawing through his heart and it’s about to come out his throat in the form of some croaky apology when your hands fly up and settle on either side of his face.
Everything in Steve’s head falls quiet because all at once, your lips are on his and you’re kissing him.
Steve all but melts into your kiss, his eyes fluttering shut as your lips meld against his and you pour all fondness into it. All the mortification in his heart blends away to pure glitter and his heart pumps it, fast and strong, til every limb is buzzing with it.
You’re kissing him, he thinks, dopey and happy. You’re kissing him! he thinks again and the loud brazen thought reignites his frozen hands, which grasp the front of your shirt and tug you evermore closer.
Neither of you move back very far when the kiss breaks, intertwining breaths as you both hover close. Steve swallows, prays that when he opens his eyes he won’t just be back in his bedroom, staring at the ceiling, and pries them open. You’re already watching him, that same nervous expression back on your face.
“That...” You start, still a bit breathy. “That wasn’t just an accident, right?”
Steve chuckles but it comes out a bit strangled, his gaze skirting along every plane of your face. He tries not to quiver under the feeling of your hands on his skin, still cradling his jaw sweetly.
“I mean, technically the first one was,” He admits, leaning closer so his forehead can lean against yours. “But no. God, no, I’ve... I want you.”
It’s so forward, so lacking the suaveness he usually possesses in these moments but Steve doesn’t care if it’s completely raw with emotion. You kissed him and it’s like a perfect key to every feeling he’s been holding back from you.
“And I- I want you to want me.” Steve confesses, his grip on your shirt curling tighter. He manages to unfurls his fist and smooths it out to a tender hand, lets it drift to your face and rests his palm against your cheek. Your eyes are wide, eyes darting frantically as if you’re searching for a hint of insincerity. You aren’t going to find any.
“I didn’t think you—” Your voice cracks around the words, giving away the swell of your emotions. It makes you laugh a bit, quiet and nervous, and you avert your eyes for the next part instinctively. “I didn’t think you saw me that way.”
Steve has to take a moment to gather himself because it feels like a goddamn fracture has gone through his chest.
“Sweetheart,” Steve coos, the pet name slipping off his top as sweet as honey. It melts under your skin like butter in the sun, til you’re gooey inside and wobbly at the knees. You meet his eyes right as his thumb shifts and gingerly traces along your bottom lip. The blood beneath it tingles hot at the attention.
“Please, let me prove how wrong you are.” He utters, voice soft. His nose brushes against yours, the faintest of nuzzles. You think your heart might collapse and you’d let it, if it meant this — this Steve, entirely affectionate and fond in a way you couldn’t ever imagine — was something you got to keep.
You nod, the slightest motion against him. Steve delights, his hazel eyes brighter, his grin wild with elation.
True, it’s not quite what Steve had pictured all those times he imagined getting a chance to kiss you, not even close to one of those romantic locations he’d have preferred and god, he’s in the stupid work vest for Christ’s sake.
It's nothing like he pictured, no, but when he gets to kiss you again, passion so tangible it’s sweet on your lips, Steve decides it’s so entirely better.

AS PROMISED: MY THOUGHTS ON F&C SO FAR!! just a big ramble basically. I'll do 1 & 2 for this post and then 3 & 4 in another (ofc, spoilers ahead if u haven't seen it yet!!!)
Ep 1. (Fionna Campbell)
I LOVED this episode. it feels like a perfect introduction to fionna's world and the characters in it!! all the nerdy little references to the original show made me SO happy I absolutely loved those …
of course seeing marshall lee again made me absolutely jump for joy MY HUSBAND IS BACK!!! AND BETTER THAN EVER!!! his human design is perfect idc what anyone says he looks stunning. I also love that LSP's human name is ELLIS P. it's so creative and so not at the same time LMAO
it also took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out that one character is supposed to be a genderbend huntress wizard. uh.
I also love how they're already sorta setting up gumlee by having marshall really like gary's cookies. that is the cutest thing ever I CAN NOT wait to see them develop more UUGHHH. I also just love gary with all my heart even if I kinda wish he had a better name
not to mention the opening song was so cute. it's so upbeat but so … depressing.
I don't have a whole ton to say abt this episode but honestly?? I give it a 10/10 I adored it

my poor babygirl. god I love simon… I feel so bad for my little guy… my man is basically an alcoholic (see ep 4)... he just misses Betty so much and I WANT TO GIVE HIM A HUG AAAUUGH!!!!
I love him & finn's dynamic!! sensing a little repressed grief/trauma from finn though. like… just go on adventures all the time so you don't think about bad stuff? ouch my guy… ouch… EVERYONE IS SO DEPRESSED IN THIS EPISODE
tbh… I was genuinely more surprised to see blood than I was to hear the characters swear. but let's be honest it's about time adventure time showed some serious gore & guts like THIS IS A SHOW PARTLY ABT FIGHTING MONSTERS. I think it suits the show, same with the mild swearing tbh, I was REALLY worried it would ruin it but it flows really naturally
I can already see why Tom Kenny said this show was the most emotional thing he'd ever acted for… I can't imagine how the rest is gonna be (i can't wait)
I give the ep an 8.5/10 i think!! the first is my fav but this one is really really awesome too

Was curious, do you have any personal headcanons for your south park zombie au? ^^ would love to read some if u do!
thank you so much for asking! It means a lot to me that someone is interested to know my little things...
I want to clarify that this zombie hc is pretty much me using sp characters as a main inspiration and it will be my very own interpretation version of them. it will definitely be out of character for some people. And look I'm just having fun here so plz don't get mad
I've written a lot about this AU actually. I think I can share some of my hc about their personality and what they do at camp! I think around their early 30s they established a somewhat decent size gang with Cartman as the leader and the main 4 being core members.
I imagine Kenny having a lot of the skillsets of a burglar. He plays with chemical stuff too. He's usually spotted just chillin' somewhere, doesn't really believe in hard work, but will get things done when needed because he is generally pretty accountable. He is also really good at staying unnoticed when sometimes they need to send someone to scout ahead. He sets all kinds of traps to kill zombies.
Cartman in this story I'd like him to be a manipulative asshole at his finest. Putting him in this environment he would really make use of his ability to manipulate his surroundings to get around. He enjoys every type of weapon and loves to explore each one of them. Most of the time he uses a baseball bat, brass knuckles, and other melee weapons.
Kyle being the book smart of the group, pretty much can pick up whatever skill they need with a proper manual. He is the brain of the group when it comes to apocalyptical survival/engineering/medical stuff and so on. He is also very good at ranged weapons like bow and arrow/sniper rifle.
Stan is kind of a caretaker in this group in a way that he does a lot of driving/cooking/farming stuff. He is an animal lover and could train dogs, horses, and other animals for their usage. He doesn't love killing zombies because he finds it gross but will do it when he is needed.
I hope I can deliver more to this world with my art but I can't make any promises because I've started another lil OC project too lmao

8. Who are their Touchstones, if any?
We have Dr. Armatto, who was his faculty advisor while Mark was getting his PhD. So he was a big inspiration to him, helped him out a lot - cemented a love of learning, and a love for humanities history w/the idea that humanity is always growing and advancing. They are still in irregular contact. In a year or two I expect Dr. Armatto to question Mark on why he hasn't been publishing papers lately :/ Like Dr. Vela My Friend I Thought You Wanted Tenure, Let Me Help You???
Then we have Kenny, who was his ex from high school. He meant a lot to Mark cause he helped him realize his sexuality and they went through a lot of shit together in high school. They lost contact after he graduated and moved but Kenny of course just back to Detroit and Mark finally agreed to meet with him after months...Kenny is a very openly gay man despite it being 2000s Detroit, very flamboyant, very confident n cool. but yeah Mark is a dangerous person 2 be friends w so he should leave him alone.
Finally there is. Sampson <3 whom i love. Sampson and Mark were dating just before he was turned, and theres a lot of shit with them that many of my followers have heard many times but in short he is now Mark's ghoul and ex and things are. difficult betwixt them
9. What are their Convictions (moral opinions and standings they hold fast to)?
So these were poorly worked out cause mark is my first VTM OC and my storyteller was lenient but in approximate order of touchstones above:
Knowledge should not be destroyed and should be shared/a general love of humanity and its progress
Something about innocence and young love (the worst worked out one aslkdjfds)
and finally that People can be loved in spite of flaws
In the game these haven't come up mechanically but are definitely themes. Dr. Armatto's is actually one of the more interesting ones and is a very. opposed viewpoint within kindred society, who look down upon humanity, but idk how it will come up. Mark has already commented that kine are juts as intelligent as kindred to one vampire and got a raised eyebrow look lkasdfjds

13. Most shippable character
Kenny, absolutely. He’s just got that sort of vibe that I can agree working with most anyone! There’s Kenny ships that i much prefer to others and Kenny ships I’m not so enthused about, but overall if shown a new Kenny ship of any kind I’d at least say “Ok sure, I’ll think about it.” Second to Kenny might be Bebe, I really like a lot of ships with her. And hey, I love her and Kenny together too! What puts Kenny above Bebe tho is that he’s character who I feel can very easily attach to another established couple and make a throuple work? Like, I think he works in Stylenny and Creekenny!
15. Favourite poly ship
AND SPEAKING OF KENNY BEING A PART OF PRE-ESTABLISHED SHIPS—
Recently I’ve really LOVED the idea of Chrisgornny (Christophe/Gregory/Kenny). There’s literally only one fic out there with them and it’s nsfw so there’s not much in the way of developing dynamics. However, I love thinking about character dynamics. You’ve got Gregstophe which… god, just read literally any of my fics or posts about them and you’ll Understand. But then you’ve also got Kengory, which I discussed in the last ask but basically, they have a lot of similarities that would mesh nicely. Lastly there’s Kenstophe which I do love SO so much?? Similar to Kengory, I think they’re very similar people except instead of similar goals w different approaches, I think they’d have similar approaches w different conclusions. There’s so much to unpack from their differing conclusions on being cursed by God alone— Christophe being angry down to the bitter end but Kenny eventually getting tired and giving up. Due to his immortality, Kenny is also one of those characters who can exist in odd AUs well, which is also where Gregory and Christophe tend to work best. Kenny’s already been a vigilante, why wouldn’t he decide to join them in being a revolutionary? Especially after his dad took him to a worker’s union meeting and radicalized him.
I’m realizing now I could talk about the three of them forever. I’ll stop for now but they will always be in the back of my mind, I assure you.
19. Ship that you never expected to ship
There’s a LOT of ships I’ve started shipping in my second foray into the fandom that I never would’ve shipped the first time around (Crenny comes to mind). However, I think the #1 surprise ship I now love is Dyde (Damien/Clyde). For one, I used to headcanon Clyde as the token straight guy amongst all the others, and I was pretty dead set devoted to Clybe and Dip. I’ve become much more of a multishipper now though. Anyway, @/honey-creek got an anon request for Clyde/Damien, I reblogged it with a comment and idea that made them laugh, prompting an art trade of me writing Dyde while they drew me something related to my longfic Just Business (hoping and praying Kas someday posts the piece bc I love it to death). Somewhere along the lines of writing, “lmao this is a funny pair” turned into genuinely love of the Dyde dynamic. You’ve got Clyde, Just Some Guy™️ of all time, a little dense and concerned with superficial stuff but ultimately sweet and sensitive. Then there’s Damien, literal demon and son of Satan, Prince of Hell but longing to be accepted and liked by others. I’ve only written two fics about them but I love the idea of them SO much….. talk to me about them at all (or Kas and King) and be inducted into Dyde nation 👀

19, 24, and 25 for the ask game ! ^.^
19- I only started actually writing down and posting my stuff a little less than a year ago, but a lot of my life I’ve been imagining little short stories with whatever fandom I was into and most of them revolved around a character being hurt and taken care of lmao
24- DUDE ok so EASILY my biggest pet peeve when I’m reading whump is when we DONT SEE THE HEALING ARC!!! Like when we leave off on a character beat to hell and back and fast forward to a year later and everyone is fine, which is GREAT good for them but y’all are tellin me I didn’t get to read this mf with the broken leg learn to walk again while being encouraged softly by the person who confessed their love under duress?!? I didn’t get to see character A still weak from blood loss a few days after discharge from the hospital and character B staying over at their place in case they needed something and forcing them to take it easy? Like obviously that doesn’t fit all stories but even just a short paragraph in the last chapter referencing the recovery makes it a lot more satisfying for me as a reader. By all means put them through the wringer but gimme the comfort part of the hurt/comfort PLEASE! That’s why I write what I write; I fuck them up for the soft tender moments after!
25- I’m not the best at giving advice tbh, but I’ll damn well try! Probably the biggest note I have is that it’s usually better not to just torture for the sake of torture. Like if you’re hurting the characters, it’s more impactful when there’s a reason behind it. Similarly, KNOW the reactions that your caretaker character would have! For example, the way I write Stan reacting to Kyle being hurt is VERY different than how Kenny reacts. Think about how your whumpee feels in that situation too. Do they panic? Do they try to keep their loved on calm? Do they crack jokes the whole time? Also!!! Dialogue is my best friend tbh. The use of repetition in whump dialog can be so powerful, like a “hey, hey, you’re okay, eyes on me, baby, you’re okay, just look at me, breathe for me, yeah? I’ve got you, just breathe, it’s okay.” Evokes way more emotion than just “hey, you’re okay, look at me, breathe” if you get what I’m sayin
