I am going to enforce a rule on myself of only one game per series. In no particular order, and based on how I am right now currently feeling:

1. Pokemon Insurgence - Cringy, edgy, and over-the-top in the best way while also delivering a challenging and genuinely very fun experience. I love the canon Pokemon games, but a good fangame can really bring out the best of the series while catering to longtime fans and Insurgence does just that. My Insurgence team is still the one I remember best out of all of my Pokemon teams. Cannot recommend enough if you can handle a little "i'm twelve and this is deep" writing. It's ridiculously fun.

2. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles - Everything about this game is beautiful and haunting and it fundamentally changed me as a person. The world it creates is one of profound isolation while the characters and themes emphasize the importance of connection and hope. Everything I have ever written carries some of its DNA. It is also a kind of boring hack n' slash dungeon crawler with a lackluster remake and a really annoying difficulty curve in the endgame. i never successfully played it in multiplayer as intended because i did not have any friends. It also made me bisexual.

3. Hades - Extremely fun and challenging with fabulously tactile and energetic gameplay. If you have not played Hades, you really should. Also Megaera is there. 4. Stardew Valley - everything you could want in a farming sim, especially with its excellent mod support. My only issue is: where does everyone poop?? 5. Skyrim - Obviously. if you think skyrim is bad you are kidding yourself. skyrim is the most video game of all time.

6. Dragon Age Inquisition - even more obviously. The apex of the series, though it is far from perfect, especially in its pacing/story construction. Still, Origins has its pacing issues too, and Inquisition has much better/more fun gameplay. I will not argue on this. Block me if you disagree i guess. Bad hair though. 7. Subnautica - Stunningly beautiful and terrifying, even on the goddamn Switch where it barely runs. I put so many hours into it on creative mode that I broke my save and had to send it to the devs to fix. They never did get back to me... 8. Disco Elysium - hnnnnngggggghhhhnggggn it's so good you guys it's sooo good it's so fucking good guys it's soo gooooood

9. Fire Emblem Three Houses - i love these stupid anime kids so much. i love big titty byleth. this game is so bad. i think about it daily. do not play this game 10. Animal Crossing New Horizons - just a lovely little game. being able to customize your entire island is A++++, enough so that i'm willing to forgive how many features it is straight up missing and how bland the dialogue gets.

Why you should play St. Agatha City

It's free to play, with regular updates as progress is made. This game is still in its alpha state, on chapter 0 out of 7, and kind of lengthy - the unfinished demo alone is several hours of gameplay if you wanna 100% it, but I think it's worth it, and here's why.

1. The main character.

St. Agatha City is an city-exploring mystery game with dating sim elements. This is Pixy Burrow! She's the main character. Unlike a lot of traditional dating sims, Pixy's personality and backstory is just as crucial to the plot and the world she inhabits as the people she meets. I know this isn't everyone's cup of tea, but on the plus side, this means the choices you have her make can have consistency, and consequence. Her responses to situations are also designed to avoid the flat, accidentally unrelatable main character syndrome!

2. The city of St. Agatha itself

St. Agatha is a mid-sized Midwestern city, in the state of Missouri. Though the demo only allows for Pixy to explore the places within walking distance of her apartment, there is a lot of lore and scenery to absorb and explore, with more to come. There is a sinister side of the beautiful new place she's found herself in, which is suspiciously overfunded in recreational activities and decor, but has cracked sidewalks and a lot of unhappy citizens.

3. The cast

There are +20 characters you can meet, and 9 potential love interests of varying personality, background, and gender. Shitty MS paint doodle below...

You've got line cook representation, boylosers, failwomen, cringebeings, autistic boy swag, wolfgirls, a wizard (???), the puppet from Interpol, and Marjory. You figure out who is who.

4. It's got voice actors, fan artists, and a budding community

This game has VAs and will eventually be fully voiced! Currently over half the cast of Chapter 0 are cast, and new voice lines are being added all the time.

5. Production transparency.

Like I said, this game is free. There is no kickstarter, no fundraiser, no merch to sell, and no goddamn ball pit. You couldn't get All or Nothing'd here if you tried, because the only way to throw money at this game is via optional tips, cuz it's hosted on Itch.io. However, due to this and the scale of this game, updates can be slow, but there's a lot of transparency in production - with update previews being posted on the game page, and a very active Discord.

The game is supposed to have eight full chapters, which have been plotted out, with an estimated production span of a few years minimum to fully finish.

6. I made it.

It's meme'ing again!

Relationship status: I haz a marriage. It's my second one. It's much better than the first one.

Favourite colour: I like fall colors. Oranges, golds, rich, deep (not bright) red, olive green, warm browns.

Three favourite foods: My favorites shift all the time. Currently, (vegan) cheesecake that my husband makes, tomato sandwiches slathered with guacamole, and I always love a good pot of slow-cooked baked beans. (I'm vegan, so my tastes are weird. LOL )

Last thing I googled: Pictures of York Minster. For reasons. Apparently, there are no good wide-format/panoramic pictures of the damned thing on the internet. At least, none that don't have watermarks all over them. Someone in York, go take a picture for me, will you?

1. Are you named after anyone? i accidentally stole one of my friends' names as a middle name? i don't think that actually counts tho

2. When was the last time you cried? lmao talking to my mom about how much we both miss my brother a couple days ago

3. Do you have kids? nope! my wife does, and i consider them family, but we're not in that kind of place where i could call them My Kids.

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot? oh god i am so snarky. whenever i get annoyed i get sarcastic and usually stay that way until i get called on it or say something so dickish i notice myself lmao. i'm working on it

5. What is the first thing you notice about a person?their hair, 100%

6. What’s your eye color? i have stupid white person ya protag eyes. i have an inner-eye heterochromia, so the majority of my iris is blue, but there's a brown ring that becomes more or less visible depending on the lighting conditions lmao so i have goddamn color changing anime eyes. i am not proud of this

7. Scary movie or happy ending? this is a very weird dichotomy. plenty of scary movies have happy endings. i don't like outright sad endings to movies, or anything too navel-gaze-y, but i'm a sucker for a happy ending, and also for jumpscares

8. Any special talents? does designing period architecture in the sims count

9. Where were you born? i was born in virginia, us, which has practically no bearing on my life whatsoever because i moved away when i was 2 and i regularly have to ask my parents what town i was born in

10. What are your hobbies? i read a lot, study japanese, play video games, and write/draw/paint/etc when the mood hits

11. Do you have any pets? yes! my sweet baby iphigenia is tagged under #iphi.baby and she has a sibling named gremlin (my wife's cat)

12. What sports do you/have you played? none now, but... soccer, tennis, gymnastics, and swim at various points growing up

14. Favorite subject in school? anything mythology or folklore related! which in grade school was mostly english class, and then classics courses in college on top of english courses

y'all i'm scared i played ts3, really enjoyed it, exited the game and my computer was stuck in the same bordered windowed mode as sims 3 and when i looked it up the only solution that came up was a system restore, so i got that done but now it's been loading for at least 7 - 8 minutes 😭 i just wanted to play a game with good gameplay goddamn

2. Top 5 games of all time.

5) The Sims 3

The game I will play non-stop for a couple of days at a time and then not play for months! But gods do I love The Sims 3. I think my love for the third game is mostly just because it’s the one I played first, but I just couldn’t really get into the other games as much.

4) Cook Serve Delicious 2 & 3

Welcome to the games which I have way too much love for given that they are literally just typing games, but I genuinely cannot get enough of them. I have 100% achievement completion across the whole series, and while I do still love Cook Serve 1 and Forever, the game play styles of 2 & 3 just are the frantic mess of everything I love so much.

For context I have 682 hours in the games across the full franchise and a friend has described my “red flag” as the fact that “whenever I look at you on discord it says you're playing that goddamn cooking game”.

3) Danganronpa

So I’m just counting all the main line games, because I don’t really think that I can separate them out to decide which I like the most. I really like this franchise. It gets my love of death games and mysteries into one and I don’t think any other game series has made me cry as much (maybe Telltale’s The Walking Dead). Do they have their faults and odd moments, yes, but I like them regardless. ((And I’m really looking forward to the Dead Meat upcoming kill count on Trigger Happy Havoc… even if I fully agree with Chelsea that I’m not gonna be looking in the comments))

2) Your Turn to Die

Honestly, I cannot describe the love I have for Your Turn to Die. It is just such a game that fits right into my interests, and that I have such a good time whenever I’m playing it. I think Sara is one of my favourite protagonists in any game, and I just love theorising and experimenting with the formula.

1) To The Moon

To The Moon is, well, it’s a real special game to me. It’s both really silly and really sad in equal measure and it’s just a story I really treasure. The story of a pair of doctors travelling through a dying man’s memories to grant his dying wish is genuinely such a simple concept but it creates such a wonderful story and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

5. Most memorable gaming moment?

So I play a lot of games with my best friend, like a lot of story games particularly like ones with a lot of dialogue we play together either blind or with one of us already knowing the story and kinda guiding the other through it.

And so this is the way that we play YTTD, originally my friend had played a little ahead because they had been playing with a different friend who introduced YTTD to them, but I really remember the moment where we both got into being blind. It was right at the end of Chapter 2, Part 1 and they had seen the route where Reko died. However, we didn’t actually realise it was a route system, we thought it was a pass-fail puzzle where if you fail then Reko dies.

So we passed the puzzle, and then just the whole scene in the Room of Lies was such an emotional gut punch as at first it just seemed like Reko died anyway and then Alice’s fucking stomach exploded. And just genuinely the shock and emotions of that whole scene just sticks in my head so much.

I do honestly have a lot of memorable moments from playing games with my friend, just cause I think that’s the nature of playing games with other people! (Honourable mentions: Them genuinely believing a 7 year old was the killer in Ace Attorney, and just so many of the reveals in Danganronpa).

33. Most embarrassing gaming moment.

Honestly, it's not really a moment, more a series of moments across my life, but it’s probably the fact that I just am really bad at Pokemon. Like I have genuinely never been good at them despite being decent at other like turn based combat games and really liking the collecting part of the story.

There has not been a single pokemon game that I’ve played where I haven’t gotten stuck for at least an hour at some point just from dying over and over. This is to the point where I have only actually gotten to the end of 2 of the games (X and Sword) but continue to buy them regardless of being very bad.

So I had a small time going in first person camera mode as Markus. Going around and seeing things through a toddlers eyes. Mostly to get a good glance at where his curiosity would take him. It took him to a hungry belly so I brought him downstairs to look at the high chair and eventually would have “figured” out the fridge...if I didn’t get the alert from Meredith that her job is ready to go. It’s a work from home day at least. Though one of it’s alerts definitely isn’t. Attend Despoision will take her offlot and off screen so...I likely won’t get control of Markus in the afternoon. To daycare! Since nanny’s cost money we can’t afford!

Meredith returns at around 1 and she’s got low hygine so, we go and have a bath before we head on off to the library for part 2.

And then just glancing around her bathroom window and I get caught out by this wonderful vista. Goddamn. Deserts can be gorgeous as well! Anyway! Off to the library for part two of this daily wfh thing. Researching the case she’s working on. Normally I would purchase a research machine for home but those are actually super expensive. Like 15 thousand dollars. There is a reason that I outfit every single library within the Sims with research machines of their own. ...also to add to libaries in general. I did think to bring a book for Markus in general but alas, he doesn’t have Imagination skill level two yet so he can’t read on his own. Time to just glance around and see what’s strange about this place! Annnd to play in those bookshelves. And talk to those other tall folks around in weird white robes!

...you know what I forgot to bring? A potty for him to go to the toliet in. Alas, well, I suppose that’s what the diapers are for. Ah well. Anyway, case has been researched so it’s time to return home. Meredith’s whim is to make a thousand dollars in money. And what’s a skill she’s been given? Handiness. Let’s work the woodworking table. Now the tricky thing is that the best selling woodworks are furniture, which won’t count for the whim itself. But I’ll do my best to keep track. Meanwhile Markus is just nabbing food, going to the toilet and going to bed all by himself. Maaan, poor Markus. From the fruits of my queued up actions, we got 6 tables, equaling 3780. DANG. Next time, only do one or two! For now it’s super late and she’s got work! It’s at 3AM she goes to bed, and it’s time for-

Neighborhood Watch!

Claire Goode in the Goode household left her job as a Seed-Scatterer in the Gardener career.

Short post so another day it is! Today is go into work day so I don’t suspect there will be much to do. Since Meredith’s needs are fine, I let her sleep in until 7:30, 30 minutes until work. To work with Meredith and to daycare with Markus! She comes back tired and in need of fun but is very pleased with herself for it is promotion time! Meanwhile Markus is sad for lack of fun, has low hygine and is sleepy. Man that daycare did a number on him evidently. Also lightly hungry so I pick up a grape from the fridge and let him have some of those. Pro-tip! Fruit and veggies are good for filling up the toddler’s stomach a bit more than adults, since they can be fulfilled with smaller portion sizes.

Hey hey! The bubble bath is helping with Markus’s fun! Like I hoped it would. And after this, we read him to sleep. And then we raise Meredith’s fun a bit, have a snack and go to bed. ...what a day this was but hey, it filled out the post a bit more. Anyway, it’s time for!

So after almost 20 hours into Persona 5 (my first ever persona game) I’ve realized that yeah I like the series but I like it for its SMT elements more than its Persona ones.

I’m not really that big of a fan of the life sim elements because they’re intrusive. SMT is a game where they tell you how to play the game and what step 1 is but after that, you have to do the rest. It’s not like I have some animal creature in my ear 24/7 telling me what to do, I’m my own mf master and I make everything work.

It’s why I like nocturne. Nocturne doesn’t have a lot of characters and the story is obtuse but I have a lot of memorable experiences playing it, and I have bonds with my demons/personas because I can’t just get a new one everyday like my whole strategy hinges upon the three mfs I have with me to the point where I’ll grind and fight a bunch of mfs to level them up instead of having to uproot my entire play style.

I’m ride or die for my mf nocturne team more than I am for anybody in Persona 5 because I’ve bonded with them through a shared struggle called beating Matador lmao

That’s really fun to me. Yeah it’s not like I have a social bond leveling system but lord knows if anybody got my back it’s the pixie who I picked up first 30 minutes of playing.

The thing I love about SMT is how it’s a story that you make for yourself. I don’t really get that in Persona because I’m always being told what I can and can’t do like goddamn cat creature let me mf walk around and do what I want to.

I do like Persona and I’m happy to be playing the game (I’ll beat it eventually) but I like it when it just leaves me alone to figure out the story and circumstances for myself like SMT typically does

I know that some people say SMT is “persona without heart” but those mfs are wrong. SMT has a ton of heart but it isn’t the “hehe anime slice of life school story” kind of heart, it’s a game where your heart is mf tested and you bond with the team you have because you can’t progress without them.

SMT has a lot of heart but you have to pull it out of your chest and just enjoy vibing and existing in the world.

Your eyes met with the clock for what felt like the millionth time tonight. The time, which read 7:49pm, taunted you from your spot. Jake told you he would be at your home by 6:30pm.

It was now long past the time he promised, your hope of him remembering your date night now long gone. You had texted him five times, yet were never returned with a response:

5:54 pm - can’t wait to see you later!! <3

And roughly thirty minutes later,

6:27 pm - make sure you get here safely !!!!!

And the final three texts all occurring within the past hour:

6:51 pm - where are you?

7:12 pm - are we still on for tonight?

7:38 pm - never mind… i’ll see you soon. don’t bother coming by tonight

You had also called him twice and texted his friend, Jay, to make sure he wasn’t in any serious danger. When you called Jay at 7:29 pm, you had semi-expected him to not pick up, assuming he was with Jake for whatever reason.

Jay, however, picked up and told you that he was with Jake and their other friend, Sunghoon, for a ‘boy’s night out’. He sounded rushed and frantic, assuming he was playing video games or focusing on something that was too important for him to give you attention.

Not only was your pride down the drain, but it felt like your heart had been washed down with it. Jake had told you how excited he was for this date night, helping you plan it and even booking reservations at your favorite restaurant. This just made you feel more confused than you were originally; why would he be the one so adamant about making a date night and then proceed to ditch on you?

You weren’t sure.

Your train of thought was interrupted by the doorbell of your house ringing. You didn’t even have to check the peephole of your front door to know who it was, and you weren’t bothered enough to walk to the front door and let he-who-must-not-be-named in.

Your door was repeatedly knocked upon, the sound beginning to make you annoyed. You stalked your way to the door, standing right next to it, “I’m not letting you in, Jake.”

The knocking began to get more rapid, a weak “Please.” being heard from your boyfriend from the other side of the door. He sounded exhausted.

You placed your hand on the doorknob, contemplating whether to let him in or not. You braced yourself before opening the door to Jake, who looked like he’d been jumped.

“Oh my god, Jake!” You exclaimed, pulling him into your house and closing the door behind him. You brought him to your couch before examining his face, which was littered with cuts and decorated with bruises. Jake immediately wrapped his arms around your waist, hugging you with a grip so tight that you weren’t sure you would be able to breathe in.

Jake let out a sob, “I am so, so sorry.”

You embraced him back, patting the back of his head before grabbing his chin so he would look at you. “What happened to you?”

You wiped his cheek, blood smearing across his face and staining your thumb. The blood didn’t seem to be Jake’s, however; it belonged to someone else.

You retracted your hand from his face, studying your thumb that now had someone’s blood on it, “Whose blood is this, Jake?”

You were now scared. Jake didn’t answer.

“Jake, whose goddamn blood is this?!” You almost shouted, your hands beginning to shake. Was your boyfriend a murderer?

You stood up from the couch and ran to the kitchen to wash off the blood that was still smudged with blood. Jake followed you into the kitchen, you quickly putting distance between the two of you with your chest now heaving and tears brimming your eyes. You had never felt more scared in your life.

Jake tried approaching you, unintentionally backing you into a wall. You grabbed the closest weapon you could find to defend yourself: a spatula. Your heart rate had picked up miles by now, your puny spatula no match for the man in front of you. He softly grabbed the spatula from your hand, putting it back where it was found, and grabbed both your wrists.

“Y/N,” he started, now choosing his words carefully. You wouldn’t meet his gaze, you were still fearing for your life. “I want you to look at me. Even if it’s just for 10 seconds, it’ll do. I…” Jake trailed off.

“I have to be completely honest with you.”

At these words, your heart dropped to your stomach. You still wouldn’t meet his eyes, so he grabbed your chin and made you two lock eyes. He looked genuine.

Jake took a deep breath before opened his mouth slightly, the view of two sharp fangs coming into view, both red at the tips, likely from blood.

Your eyes widened, subconsciously tightening your grip on Jake’s hands, before you whispered in the smallest voice Jake had ever heard you use, “Did you kill someone tonight?” You sounded like you were about to cry.

“Baby, no.” He pulled you into his arms, you immediately latching yourself around him, still in a state of shock but relieved your boyfriend did not kill someone. “I would never.”

“W-Why are you so bloody, then?” You stuttered out, muffled because of your refusal to leave Jake’s chest.

“People hunt vampires, love.” Jake rubbed your back, calming you. “I’m so sorry I missed tonight. Sunghoon, Jay and I were returning from hanging out when we spotted two vampire hunters and a female vampire in an alley. We had to do what we had to do.”

You detached yourself from Jake’s chest, “You killed them?”

“No, no! Don’t worry, I wouldn’t kill anyone even if I had to. I turned one of them into a vampire by merely biting their neck and Jay turned the other. Not before a big fight, though.” He gestured to his face, bloodied and bruised.

You hugged him, “I’m sorry.”

“No, no, no, I’m sorry. I missed out on our date night when I promised you I would be here.” He grabbed your hand and walked to the living room with you. “If anyone deserves an apology, it’s you.”

“Jake,” you started, grabbing his face once you were both seated on the couch, “I love you.”

He kissed you, smiling into the kiss, “I love you, too.”

“Promise not to ever bite me unless I ask?”

He laughed, “I promise.”

“Okay,” you smiled, letting go of his face. “Let’s get you cleaned up, yeah?”

“Yeah. And we can have our date night after.”

Historical Simblr Tag Game

I was tagged by @greengreyviolet and indirectly by @pixelnrd. Thank you for the tag!

I’ll tag @sims-through-the-decades and @nooodlenoot sorry if you’ve already been tagged and feel free to ignore!

Let’s jump right into it! I put it under the cut because I wrote so much oof.

1. What has been your favorite time period to play in or which one are you most excited for?

I’ve really loved the 20s, probably cuz I really started being more story-focussed then and so got attached more to the characters. Plus I love the 20s aesthetic. I love my current gen already a lot too (30s) and I think I will always love whichever gen I’m playing at the time the most.

I’m most looking forward to the 60s because I already have a story planned out that randomly came to my head and now I can’t wait to make it happen. Also, I’m always a hoe for that 60s aesthetic.

2. Do you have a favorite piece of historical cc? (CAS or BB)

That’s a hard one because of all the cc I use anyway. But I think I’ll go with the typewriters here and here because thanks to them I don’t need to add a basement computer to access the mccc menus... and there’s just so much stuff you kinda need computers for (jobs, aspirations, etc.), so it’s super helpful.

3. Who is your favorite sim currently?

Did you think I could only choose one?

As I said, I’m still very attached to the 20s gen. First off, Artemisia will always be one of my favourite sims ever. She’s just *chef’s kiss* even though she was just a spare’s child. Then, I thought about whose death notification I’d be most sad about and that’s gotta be Tilly because she’s just so babey and I love her so so much! And Edward is kinda like a problematic fave. He was very fun to play because he wasn’t a “good” person (at least at first) and had such chaotic energy, even just “offscreen” gameplay lol. Plus, he looks like an angry puppy, especially with his natural curly hair and I love that about him.

And when it comes to the 30s gen, I love this dumb trio so much. I already knew I was gonna love them as soon as I started planning them and their dynamic. I can’t wait to publish the rest of their story cuz I love these babies and their stories! so apparently i also love to suffer but shhhh

4. What is your favorite world?

Still Windenburg, maybe it’s because I’m German and it seems most “familiar” to me? Idk but I just love the whole place and it has many different areas.

5. Are you more gameplay or story focused?

I’m more story focussed now. Even when I focus on gameplay, I make up my stories about my sims, so that aspect is always in there somehow.

6. Do you like to play with pets in your historical saves?

Well, Mistletoe the cat is the first pet I’ve had since I got C&D. I love her and I will definitely play with pets again, but I am always scared it will take too much space I could use for other sims.

7. What’s your biggest immersion breaking pet peeve with the game?

Random modern things in the background. I could install a mod that declutters the world, but I have modern saves too and don’t wanna declutter them.

8. What’s your favorite in-game historical item? (CAS or BB)

I love that there’s an antique stove in the game I guess? They really should add more random old items in the game like that. The antique fridge is awesome as well, but those goddamn ramen boxes,,,,,,,,,,

9. What would you like to see as a new pack or asset to the game?

Although I’m done with that gen already, I’d really love a pack that’s 20s inspired or at least somewhere in that direction. Thinking something along the lines of that sims 3 store roaring heights thing.

But anyway..... locking a makeup look to be on all outfits??? Why is this not a thing yet??? The amount of time I would save if I didn’t have to redo everyone’s makeup all the time.

10. What pack do you think is invaluable as a historical simmer?

It would probably make sense to say Cottage Living, but my early generations have been so many years ago that I’ve never played with that pack in a historical context, only in a modern save of mine. So I don’t have that “value” of it personally.

Instead, it’s probably gonna be... Get Together maybe? Like I said, I love Windenburg and I think the aesthetic is (mostly) working, too. Plus, the club system is super helpful and it also has some historical objects and clothes thanks to that castle and the ghosts that come with it.

Get Together also has those Victorian and mid-century things which is helpful if you do the decades challenge, right? Vintage Glamour, too.

11. Do you have a favorite mod to enhance historical gameplay?

Is it basic to say MCCC? In the historical aspect mostly MC dresser because I can just add one or two historical outfits to random townies and just switch them when I need to.

12. What’s your ideal family size for playing?

I need at least three sims, or it gets too boring for me. Not that I get bored of the sims, I just need “more to do” or I get nervous idk. So, somewhere between three and six is best for me.

13. Do you use poses?

All the time lol. I need to sort out some old poses I don’t use anymore, but I’m too lazy.

14. Do you use any overrides in your game?

I have my default skin and eyes but I also have the invisible crib mod. Although I did start just aging babies up to toddlers immediately anyway. I also have a ping pong to tennis override but I’m not gonna use it until one or two gens into the future lol.

15. Do you, or did you, play off-the-grid during your game?

Nah, it wasn’t a thing yet when I would have used it. And even now, it’s just not “finished” enough for me and just pretending works better for me.

16. What lifespan do you play on?

I almost always play on normal. I think by decades nsb is on short? My disney challenge definitely is on short though.

17. What inspired you to start playing a historically?

I’ve always loved fashion history. So much that it was even my dream to study it, but the time I had to choose something to study coincided with my most insecure and depressed era, so I didn’t even dare apply. Now I study something that I can rather than want, but I digress...

I don’t remember how I found out about the decades challenge. It for sure wasn’t on tumblr since it wasn’t that big here then and I’m pretty sure the challenge was one of the reasons I even created this blog. But as soon as I did, I immediately knew it was perfect for me. It basically combines my favourite things into one. And I love doing research for it and stuff like that, it’s so much fun for me.

I’m glad there’s more historical content nowadays because that way I don’t get frustrated at necessary historical inaccuracies in my game as much anymore.

"WHAT WERE YOU DOING IN MY ROOM?!"

"ANSWER ME!"

"YOU ANSWER ME!"

"TREY!"

"WHAT?!"

"How many times have I told you... stay out of Ken's study."

"And how many times have I told you to keep Ken out of my room!"

"I WAS IN YOUR ROOM, NOT KEN!"

"YOU STAY OUT, TOO!"

"STOP!" Ken had appeared, overhearing their argument from the bottom of the stairs.

"GET THE HELL AWAY FROM ME!"

"TREY!" She began.

"HE'S AN ASSHOLE!"

"HEY!" Ken roared. "WATCH YOUR MOUTH!"

"Ken..." Melissa tried to calm him down.

"No!" He hollered at her. "He's got no sense of respect and is nothing, but a rule breaker. He keeps this up and he's gonna end up a criminal in a few years and he won't have you there to help him!"

Treyvon's eyes grew wide as he listened to his words. Melissa tensed in that moment, and stepped in to send her son outside to play.

"Don't even start, Mel. Don't look at me like that -- every rule I set in this house is every rule he breaks!"

"Maybe your rules are just too strict!"

"They're not! This is my house--"

"AND HE'S 'MY SON', KENNETH!" She finally yelled. "YOU HAD NO RIGHT TO SPEAK TO HIM THAT WAY!"

"He had no right to go in my goddamned study. Those cases are not for the faint at heart... and they're not for any child to get their hands on. Some of those cases aren't even closed yet, suppose he would taken pictures of them on his phone and then blasted them all over social media. HE COULD HAVE PUT LIVES IN DANGER -- INCLUDING OURS!"

"He wouldn't be so stupid."

"What makes you so certain? Besides the fact, you know, he's 'your' son."

She felt herself grow ten times more tense than she already was -- nearly flinching from anger.

"If I ever... 'ever' hear you speak to him the way you did tonight..."

"You'll what? Divorce me -- all because you know I'm right? You can't keep protecting him when he's done something wrong, Mel... he'll never learn."

"Enough, Ken. He's my son and he's been through a lot... you have no right to interfere in how I choose to raise him -- and that's non-negotiable!"

Bucky and Daddy Steve in quarantine...how do they cope?

Yes amazing incredible brilliant I have been waiting for this question.

Let’t talk feelings:

Steve is torn. Half of him is like, “thank fuck I can finally be home” and the other half of him is hella anxious about being able to do his job well away from the office

He is always a man with a plan but everything being up in the air and in question does not sit well with Steve. He knows he has to stay calm and has to shoulder the responsibility of having to look after Bucky.

Bucky is freaking out. He cries when his classes get cancelled and when he realizes he has to take it seriously and not see Natasha. He worries about his family back in Indiana but his mom calls him almost every day for the first week because he is in New York fucking City

Bucky knows rough times are ahead and knows that he needs to brace for them and make plans and lists for what to do if things get bad for him mentally

Work and School:

Steve and communication!!!! He knows they need to talk about what they both need to stay on top of their work. Steve needs longer periods of time without interruptions and he needs to work in his office to feel focused. Bucky needs some sort of schedule, needs to be told when to take a break, and also needs a space to focus

Steve makes Bucky a cute little work space in the kitchen at the table because of the windows and light. He sets up a little speaker, and shows Bucky the snacks he bought for him, got a little picture frame with a picture of the two of them within it.

Steve wakes Bucky up around 7 each morning, slow wake-ups, makes sure coffee is ready. They agree to eat lunch together at noon each day, agree that the stopping point for each day is 4 PM.

Working from home is a bitch for Steve. He’s so used to having his people and his resources all in one spot and to not makes things harder.

School for Bucky is also a bitch. He finds himself not being able to stay on top of his workload at first and the temptation to move to the couch is far too high and almost constant

They’re both far too tempted by the other being within seconds of them

They get the hang of things but there are good days and there are bad days (Hell Zone Days) and they never really know how it’s going to turn out.

How to Stay Busy:

The typical answer-- Netflix. They find some shows to binge and some new movies to watch. Bucky introduces Steve to Parks and Rec and Steve makes a valiant attempt at showing Bucky the Fast and Furious movies.

Bucky FaceTimes Nat often, mostly to work together, but it’s absolutely necessary that he talk to her and see her face

Steve buys a lot of puzzles and Bucky tries, he really tries, but he hates them, detests them, can’t understand how Steve can keep looking at the same pieces over and over again trying to figure out where they go

Bucky loves playing Animal Crossing, even buys Sims and gets back into that

Steve works out every morning, runs on the treadmill in the basement, lifts some weights, same ‘ol. Sometimes Bucky will take a break and do some yoga, stretching after sitting for so long, which Steve finds so deliciously distracting

They both start to find a love for being in the kitchen. They’ve both always had it but have grown so used to eating out. Steve loves planning and preparing these crazy delicious dinners and Bucky groans about how he’ll need to start working out with Steve in order to maintain his weight

Bucky prefers to bake, likes the weighing of ingredients and how meticulous it is, likes that focus. It’s Steve’s turn to gripe about how he’s going to have to up his workout in the morning, in length and weight, but Bucky tells him he might be more than okay if Daddy got a little thicker

Relationship:

There are sweet times, so much extra time for sexy times: lunch break blowjobs, lazy couch sex, rimming in the shower. So much extra time to take things long and slow and it’s seriously the best.

This is quite the test for the two of them. They have never had such a prolonged period of time spent together. It is natural that they butt heads a bit.

They get into the stupidest fights. Steve would get irritated that Bucky won’t separate lights and darks when he does laundry or leaves coffee cups in the sink. Bucky would get upset at Steve for being so calm and relaxed and for leaving his sweaty towels piled up in the bathroom.

They’d raise their voices, Steve trying to stay as calm as possible, knows that Bucky has been hanging on by a thread. Steve would have no choice but to walk away and Bucky would pout, take an hour, go back to Steve’s office and climb into his lap, whispering his apologies. Steve wouldn’t let him apologize, saying it’s his fault, and they’d go back and forth with kisses and coos.

But there’s one point where Bucky’s anxiety gets so bad even Steve doesn’t know what to do and he resorts to something they’ve never tried before--

Shibari:

Steve’s had this set of navy blue ropes he bought within two weeks of dating Bucky but they’ve never gotten around to properly use them but there isn’t a better time

Bucky had two panic attacks yesterday, one of them Steve walked in on while the other Bucky came to him, and Bucky hasn’t ever had his anxiety this high while with Steve

He’s at a loss and hurting, can’t watch Bucky hurt anymore

He doesn’t consult Bucky, makes the decision for the two of them when Bucky is on the cusp of another attack one afternoon. Luckily, Bucky has grown comforted by Steve’s touch when he gets this way, so Steve pulls him close, carries him to their bedroom, lays him out on the bed

“I’m gonna do something, Buck, somethin’ we’ve never done before. It’s gonna help you and me and make you feel better. What do you say if you want it to stop? S’good, sugar. You trust me? Yeah? I want you to take your clothes off, fold them, and put them on that chair.”

Bucky barely reacts to the ropes, Steve having to pull his bottom lip out of his mouth before it bleeds. Steve is a little nervous, hasn’t done this in a while, never with Bucky, but it feels different now that so much rests on his own shoulders

Steve tells Bucky he loves him, makes Bucky say it back even though he doesn’t need to force it, takes his shirt off, and begins

The motions come back to Steve like he had never taken a break from this in so long, makes him almost miss it...

He’s gentle when he moves Bucky, when he makes his knots, kisses at his soft skin before crossing rope over it.

Bucky starts to leave him almost immediately, always soft for Daddy’s hands on his body, but there’s never been something that stays behind after Daddy’s hands leave him like this.

“You goin’ sweet on me already, sugar? A’course, Buck that’s great, s’all okay, baby. I got ya, always got ya...”

He rolls Bucky onto his front, wraps and ties and knots an intricate pattern to ensure Bucky’s arms are restrained to his sides, curled at the elbow behind his back. When he rolls Bucky back onto his front he gives him a few sweet kisses on a slack mouth, tells Bucky he loves him again

By the time Steve has connected the ropes around his front, hooking the crease of his hips, his thighs, the rope is cradling Bucky’s cock but not restraining his thighs in any way (not for his first time)

And Steve is worried he’s going to blow from arousal and adoration

He can’t remember a time Bucky has looked more beautiful. He looks like an angel almost, navy blue rope on creamy skin on a backdrop of crisp white sheets.

He sits there for almost two hours and sketches Bucky, periodically moving him into different positions to ensure he’s still floaty and to draw him in another fashion. He gives him sweet kisses and whispers how pretty Bucky looks and sits back into his chair

He misses sketching, misses Shibari, wonders if Bucky will want to do this in the future. (Answer: he does)

Bucky liked it so much it makes him nervous, wonders if it could happen again, worries there might be a chance of him relying on it too much, has never felt more relaxed in his entire goddamn life.

Steve tries to tell Bucky how it made him felt, how breathtaking it was for Steve, how much he loved seeing Bucky give into him and his pleasure and to watch his worries leave his body.

They agree to explore it in the future, especially after Bucky hears Steve went lighter, used bonds and a pattern that were simple, but they both agree that it shouldn’t become and extremely frequent thing, just when they both are in the correct headspace for it.

Steve shows Bucky his sketches that evening, Bucky gasping and blushing at seeing himself in such a way, shocked that Steve is so talented. But he’s surprisingly aroused, that sweet space still tingly in his mind, and tucks into Steve’s neck, tells him he loves him.

“I love you too, sugar...”
