Band-Aids are for Speed

Lando Norris x Reader

Genre: Fluff, Street Racer AU

Summary: The five times she patched Lando up, and the one time he patched up her.

Warnings: Injury descriptions, broken bones, cuts, bruises, blood, illigal street racing, car accidents

Notes: Author is not a doctor but has watched medical dramas... don't judge my knowledge!

The first time she met Lando, he was siting in the emergency room waiting to be stitched up. She quietly hums to herself while setting up as the other nurse changes places with her.

The deep gash on his arm makes her wonder what he did to get it, but she also knows better then to ask. He doesn't look like he's in the mood to talk anyway.

It takes approximately three minutes for her to retract that statement. "So, you come here often?"

The question takes her so of guard that she doesn't know what to do with it aside from take the next few seconds to process. Is it not obvious that she works here?

"Do you mean the hospital? Or in this room specifically?" She laughs lightly at the ridiculousness of her patient and blames the minor blood loss.

"Nah, I mean in my presence." He smirks.

She tries to focus on her work. "Can't say I have."

"Would you like to be in it more?"

He gives her his number before he leaves. He dots the 'i' in his name with a heart.

She texts him the second she gets him to ask if he's bless her with his presence again.

In the few months they've been seeing each other she's learned that Lando is obsessed with cars. It's cute when he jumps into excited rants about his favorite subject.

With the amount they've been talking, it's not shocking that Lando texts her in the evening. She assumes it'll be another silly joke. Instead she's met with frenzied sentences and misspelled words about need medical attention.

She doesn't hesitate to drive to his place. In hindsight, she really should've asked him why he didn't go to A&E when he's bleeding all over the bathroom floor.

"Please tell me you didn't get jumped." She kneels down and sets about getting him a position where she can see what she's doing.

He groans in pain as she moves him. "Nope! It was spectacular though."

"What do you mean by that?"

"I crashed the car but still won." He lets out a triumphant hoot.

This man can never give her all the details at one. "You got in a car accident?! How is that winning?!"

"Because I won the money... duh." He's definitely delirious now. Probably has a concussion. "Oh, I didn't tell you? I street race."

There's that strange part of her that is intrigued and curious to know more, specifically because that adds to his sex appeal (like he wasn't hot enough already). The logical side of her brain that is currently staring at Lando bleeding says otherwise. "Uh, no... you didn't."

"Well isn't that unfortunate! You coulda seen me crash today if you had."

Lando is half asleep by the time she is done. She's barely able to wrangle him into bed with how uncoordinated he is. It's useless keeping him awake.

She turns the lights off and is about to leave - "Will you stay?"

"I can, yeah, do you want me on the couch or is there another bedroom?"

"In bed with me. You can stay here - with me."

Against her better judgment, she does.

She doesn't usually work the weekend shift but one of the nurses is on vacation and she could us the extra hours. She leaves her phone on vibrate in her pocket in case of a 'family emergency.'

Said emergency being Lando who is more accident prone on the weekends. Somehow, less accident prone in the car and more when he's doing normal people tasks.

Sometimes she wonders if her gets hurt on purpose just so he has an excuse to see her. She keeps telling him he doesn't need one - just in case - but he still calls and she goes. It's not like she has much else to do with her time aside.

She really shouldn't be shocked when he ends up in emergency clutching his arm. He gives her a bashful smile and tries to awkwardly wave. "Hi."

"And what, my love, are you in for this time?"

"I slipped on the stairs..."

Another male, a tall brunette who she knows as George, hits him playfully on the head. "No he did not! This idiot decided it would be a brilliant idea to tie a skateboard to the back of Alex's car and sit on it while Alex drove."

She throws a stern look at Lando and his smile goes from bashful to downright embarrassed. "You're lucky it's just you're arm."

By the time he's set free into the world to make more impulsive decisions, she makes the executive decision to make him wait until she's done working. He puts a pout on his lips, but it goes away when she sends him to the cafeteria.

They drive home listening to the indie station. The one he's made her fall in love with.

"Thank you, again."

"You've got to stop thanking me, Lan. It is literally my job." She laughs a little at herself for that one.

"Yeah, but, that's not all. You're the only person who doesn't freak out on me for doing stupid shit. Like I know I shouldn't do it but it gives me that adrenaline that racing does." The sincerity in his voice nearly takes her off guard.

"I can't tell what to do, but I'll always be there when you need a patch job."

"And I'll be there when you need a ride." He winks.

The first time she's at one of Lando's races, she can feel the thrumming in her heart. The excitement of the start and the fear that he could possibly die doing this.

He jogs over to her right before the start. His hands clumsily find her waist and he smash his lips on hers. "For good luck." He whispers as he pulls away.

She doesn't let go, however. She pulls a band aide out of her pocket and sticks it to his hand. It's a crayon, but she highly doubts he'll care to much.

"What's this for?"

"I had a little girl today who told me that Band-Aids give you speed. I thought you might try it."

"When I win, it'll be all because of you."

Lando does win. She buys more Band-Aids with some of the prize money.

She's there when the crash happens. The boys had deemed her the official medical personnel. Which she's glad for, since they are the ones getting her to the crash site. In record time - it has to be - she's sure she's never gone this fast before.

She dives out of the back of the truck to the driver side door. Lando sits there, a few visible cuts, but he's smiling at her. She has half a mind to give the boy an earful, but refrains since he did just crash.

It takes her, Alex, and George to get him out of the car and into the truck. She stitches him up before they go home. In her car, mind you, since the one Lando drove is out of order.

"I'm sorry..."

"Don't be - just - please remember that I can't fix every kind of injury."

They curl up in bed together. The long night having drained them both of their energy.

"Maybe, but at least my odds of surviving until my thirties have gone up with you around."

"At this rate, you're more likely to die doing dishes then driving."

"That was one time!"

It wasn't supposed to be this way. She was supposed to go home, not end up back at her job.

Granted, she's here for a different reason now. One that's not her fault and she's pissed about it. She's going to explode with emotions. Her body hurts so much.

Fucking drunk drivers. Who gave them the right to say it's her fault? Telling her she's lucky it wasn't worse.

A soft knock at the door draws her attention. Lando stands there look mildly disheveled. Still, he has his hands on his hips and rolls his eyes. "Whatever am I going to do with you, my love? Always getting into accidents!"

He comes to lay beside her on the bed and she wiggles to make accommodate him. He pulls out a box of bandages from his pocket and proceeds to put them everywhere she has a new mark.

The stress of it all finally breaks through. She sobs into his shoulder and clings to his sweatshirt. "Thank you."

"Hey, none of that. I owe you for all the Band-Aids you've used on me and all those times you've patched me up."

"Does this mean I can drive your car now? Since I have extra speed?"

Lando raises his eyebrows. "Maybe not drive, but I can think of other things we can do with speed." He wiggles said eyebrows suggestively.

"How about, a speedy recovery? You have plenty of those."

"Alright fine, a speedy recovery - and I'll be here for all of it with a plethora of crayon Band-Aids because I bought them all just for you."

i had to block a few anons (or maybe it was just the one?) because im getting the prickling sense that their "mc is pathetic" argument is not being done in good faith and they keep sending me stuff trying to insist that mc is a pathetic loser, but i do want to say that you are not a failure just because you haven't achieved world domination by the time you're 25.

g getting famous at like 15? is the radical thing and it's not normal lmao hence why they're called a 'wunderkind' in the demo, it's not the standard! even victoria, after a career of modeling, is just starting out as an actress. Soft Violence aren't even super famous, but people think that Soft Violence being a little more successful than mc's band means they're misfit alley level...they are not.

i think there is a lesson to be learned here and i think it's rooted in ageism and the idea that life is over after you hit 30. it's not! granted, i am guilty of feeling like this because society forces hustle culture on all of us and they act like the younger you are, the more valid your success is, but it doesn't matter what age you reached success, just that you didn't give up :) there's a lot that we don't know at 20 that we do at 30, as well, and a big portion of that is to try and give up and try again.

i don't think mc is a loser. i love mc <3 more than all the other characters.

mc is also a character who has to go through their own story arc, which means ~transformation~ it's basic writing! and that's why MC may not be at the point that people want but...you're judging MC from the prologue and the first chapter. why would they be successful if the whole premise of this IF is...a competition to get famous? that line of logic doesn’t really make sense to me but alas!

that's all. no more talking about this im begging you because my head hurts from this conversation but the anons are insistent lol.

I'm going to preface this by saying that I don't know how much this actually holds up, but I've been thinking about how each of the Dracula characters perceives/judges other people.

Jack Seward judges people based on looks. I don't necessarily mean that he's shallow (though I think that can be part of his character!) but his judgment is all based on observation. He's the character who describes Mina's looks the most, he's preoccupied with Quincey and Arthur's manly appearance, and he's surprised when Jonathan's appearance doesn't match his character. As soon as Renfield looks less like Jack's idea of a madman, he immediately thinks he should be released from the asylum, even though Renfield tried to kill him less than two weeks earlier.

Van Helsing judges people based on role. We see that in his misjudged treatment of Mina: she has been assigned the role of Woman (wife/future mother) and the fact that she would be better off within the circle of men completely passes him by. Similarly Arthur gets assigned Son (to Van Helsing) and Husband (to Lucy). Quincey is Hero. Despite how their relationship has changed, Jack is still stuck in the role of Student.

Quincey judges people based on action. There's less to go on here, but his trust of Van Helsing is assured by Van Helsing's care of Lucy, and his friendship with Mina and Lucy is sealed, in both cases, with a kiss.

Arthur judges people based on emotion. Very slim pickings to demonstrate this given there's so little in this novel that's actually in Arthur's voice, but his connections with Mina, Van Helsing and Lucy all seem to take place at a more emotional level than those of the other suitors. Lucy presents Arthur's proposal as more emotional than those of the other suitors; he connects with Mina by sharing grief; and he is more emotionally reactive to Van Helsing's treatment of Lucy than the others.

Jonathan judges people based on... idk, I want to say kindness? I don't know how much of this is that he simply experiences more kindness (as well as more suffering!) than the other characters in the novel. But from the very beginning when the old woman gives him her crucifix, it feels like kindness is something that Jonathan responds to strongly, and unkindness too.

Lucy is trickier too because we don't see her judging people as much as the other characters, since she doesn't meet that many people for the first time on the page. She responds warmly to Van Helsing because he is good to her. I think there's an element of judging people based on social norms but I don't know how much that holds up.

And then there's Mina, who doesn't really fit into any of these patterns. She responds to looks (her physiognomic assessment of Van Helsing), to roles and social norms (accepting the men sidelining her, albeit unhappily), to emotion (the suitors' love of Lucy), to action (the men's protection of her).

I think this demonstrates once again that Mina is the very heart of the novel. She is the listener who hears both the bands; she compiles the text itself; she reflects the strengths of the group with (in Van Helsing's words) a man's brain and a woman's heart; and she spans many of the different ways that they judge, perceive and relate to people too.

A/N BETA READ (@mariana-mmtz). IT IS MY BIRTHDAY TODAY (10/16) I went to the zoo and had a great time. However I did start to feel down. But I remembered I still had you guys to tell me all about what you think of my stories lol

While you were left to clean up the rest of the breakfast dishes, you allowed the boys to go about doing their daily chores. You kept an eye on Jongho, who had asked the boys to move him outside of his tent for the day. There were some arguments and snarls coming from him as San and Yunho dragged him out.

“Hello, Honey.” You looked up to give Yeosang a smile.

“Hi, Yeosang.” You answered him.

“I see you're feeling better.” He spoke up, getting closer to you. “Would you take a walk with me?” He asked, nodding his head out of the camp.

You placed the last of the dishes away, drying your hands on your slacks. “I'd love to.” You skipped over to him, linking your arms together.

You both quietly walked along the trees, slowly moving to find a place where you both could enjoy the nature that surrounded you. He had led you to the spring where you had showered yesterday, making room on the rocks at the shore to sit.

“Is everything okay?” He asked you when you both got settled.

“Yeah.” You gave him a confused smile. “Why wouldn't it be?”

“Can I be frank?” You gave him a nod. “I know about you and the boys.”

You tried not to think the worst, but it was the first thing you could think of. They were a band of friends who probably told each other about everything. While you knew they weren’t going to talk about you in any negative way, your first thought was that maybe they felt you were leading them on.

Mingi had been the only one to explain to you that they always spoke about you together but talking about it with one of them was much different. You cared deeply about what they all thought of you, so having Yeosang start up the conversation about kissing the other boys really made you anxious.

“Should I think the worst?” You took a deep breath.

“From me?” He smiled at you. “Not at all. You're worried about what we will think, aren't you?” He added.

“Every one of you has tried to tell me not to worry about it, but I do.” You told him.

Yeosang took a moment to think over what to ask you. It had been a while since he had gone back to his real home. But he knew that the world viewed these kinds of things as nothing sort of strange. This was a different place that didn’t understand how the feelings of people worked. Especially not women.

“Is it because you don't think it's right or because others don't?” He asked you.

You immediately turned to him. It seemed like all the boys knew what you wanted, but were holding back. They weren’t going to judge you. They weren’t going to call you names, you already knew all that. And hearing it from them only made you start to think they were right.

“Do you think it's okay? To feel what I feel?” You asked.

Yeosang’s lips turned up in a smile. “Where I'm from, there is no limit to the kind of love you can feel. People who judge you still because no matter what you do there will always be that one person.” He explained.

He suddenly looked into the water in front of you both, looking lost in thought. “Maybe it's not common yet, but that doesn't mean it's not real. You should follow what your heart wants.”

“But what about you?” You asked him.

“What about me?” He laughed lightly. “I only want what's best for you.”

You sighed, thinking back to your family. You could only think about how crazed they were at the moment, trying to find you. There was an anxious feeling building up in your chest every time you were reminded of how you left your family.

You hadn’t told any of them anything, you knew they were probably hysteric. But you couldn’t face them yet, not when it was still fresh in your mind what they were thinking about you. Here these boys were supporting you much better than your family when you started to change your outlook on life.

“That's more than what I can say about my family.” You pulled your knees up to your chest.

“I'm sure they want the same.” Yeosang spoke up. “If you tell them, maybe they'll understand-”

“I seriously doubt it!” You scoffed. “They-They called me names.” Your bottom lip trembled as you thought about what your dad had called you. “They would rather believe in others than their own daughter. As if I haven't spent my entire life doing what I'm told. Being the good daughter everyone wants.”

Tears started to build up in your eyes, so you aggressively wiped at them.

“This isn't about your feelings, is it?” Yeosang asked, shifting closer to you.

He brought his arm around you, pulling him down into his chest. Your legs stretched out, rubbing your cheek against his shirt as you got comfortable.

“It was at first.” You began. “I believed their name calling-made myself think that they were right.” Your lips trembled from the smile wanting to make its way onto your face.

You thought about the boys and how they all seemed to take care of you. Seonghwa and Wooyoung always teased you, but you find it endearing. It made you blush and become shy, but you didn’t want to hide from their words. Yeosang and San both always knew what to tell you. They made sure you always spoke what was on your mind and didn’t bottle it up.

Yunho and Mingi were there to protect you from harm. One saved your life literally, while the other wanted to keep you from shutting down mentally. And Hongjoong and Jongho, while they didn’t want to see you live the life they had, they showed their own ways of caring. They were hard on you, but they still couldn’t find themselves to part with you.

“But I can't hide what I feel; what I want to feel. After speaking with all of you, it changed to me, realizing that they truly sided with nobodies.” You sniffled.

‘It's a different time.” Yeosang squeezed your shoulder. “There are a lot of things that create chaos just because one person spreads a rumor that isn't true.” He huffed, rolling his eyes. “I think you should still talk to them. Maybe they'll understand you better if they know how you feel. It's a parent's job to take care of their children. Until the very end.”

You looked up at him, being reminded that his family was one of the richest in the entire country. He had everything in the palm of his hands, and yet he was running around as a secret criminal.

You wondered why it was he left his family to do what he did. You were sure he enjoyed it–all of them expressed it multiple times, they wouldn’t want to do anything else. But here he was talking about family when he left his own.

“Are yours still taking care of you?” You spoke out loud.

“Not anymore.” He shook his head sadly. “I love my family just as much as the next. But sometimes you have to tell them the truth in order to grow.”

Would telling your own the truth fix the problems you had? Or would it only create more by having them think the rumors about you were true?

“Is that what you did?” You asked.

“I did.” Yeosang looked down at you.

Your eyes drifted to his birthmark, wanting to reach out and trace it at that moment. “Is that why you're with the boys?”

“They wanted things from me that I didn't.” Yeosang explained. “I wanted to be my own person.” He sighed and turned back to look at the water.

Yeosang had hidden feelings over his parents that you knew you wanted to know more about. The rich you knew in Cromer were all people who seemed stuck up and had their noses up-turned. They didn’t care about the well-being of others and allowed their greed in money to be their downfall from society.

Was that how Yeosang’s family was? Yeosang was nothing like those people. He worked for what he wanted–he strived to reach that point. Yeosang was a person who knew hard work was what made the reward so much better.

“Don't let that change your mind.” He quickly told you. “Your parents are not mine. They seem to really care about you. I'm sure they'll change their minds.”

You grew up with parents who cared for each other and gave their kids the best things life had to offer. They did always work themselves to the bone, but in your eyes they were your role models because they still tried their best to spend time with their children.

Even at the age where everyone else their age would start to become grandparents, they would still try to spend time with your youngest brother, who was 6. They weren’t giving up yet, but somehow it seemed like they gave up on you.

You knew you had to go back soon before they entered an early grave from trying to find you. You didn’t want to lose them, but you knew that if you needed to, you would have to leave them to find the person you truly wanted to be.

Wait, there are people who judge others based on the races of the authors whose books they read? How many people actually care enough to look up that stuff? I don't know who the authors are of books I like and read unless I see a random info about them while looking up the book itself. Same with musicians cause if I like a song, I like a song and usually don't care about who exactly sings them. Like I'd probably know their names but anything else I wouldn't really care about.

Like when I was a kid I would call myself a fan of Backstreet Boys cause I like a lot of their songs but I probably won't be able to identify them in a photo unless someone points out exactly who they are (I still don't even know the members names actually lol). This is even less for authors cause getting my hands on multiple books by the same person is more difficult than just hearing a random song someone else is playing on their radio somewhere.

I think most people have less trouble acquiring more books by the same person and do tend to know about the boy bands they like...

But yes, caring what authors a rando reads is a sign someone needs to rethink their priorities.

It mostly comes up when someone already doesn't like their little internet enemy and is looking for excuses. Usually, what they actually mean is like "You like Twilight! U suck!", just with social justice spackled over it.

✧fluff, idrk i just kinda had the motivation to write their ideal types and then realized i had an emoji prompt about it so here we are

💝 - what is their ideal type in a person?

-Someone shorter than him. There really is no reason other than he has the need to protect his lover and he wants to keep them safe. Having someone shorter than him also gives him someone to playfully tease on a whim.

-Someone who is loyal. This is a given for many people but for him, he wants someone who is going to be as loyal as he would be. Someone who has a track record for being unfaithful is not someone he wants to be in a relationship with.

-Someone who he can tease. Although tying into the first point, Kuko wants someone who he can tease. It doesn't matter if you get flustered when he teases you or if you shoot back with a teasing statement of your own, he just wants to have that playfulness evident in your relationship.

-Someone who is honest. He can deal with you hiding feelings from him or the occasional secret but in the end, he wants you to be honest with him about things. Honesty is something he values a lot in any kind of relationship, romantic or not. He values you and your feelings more than he'll let on and wants you to speak up about them.

-Someone who can forgive. Not to say that you have to forgive him easily, but he wants someone who won't hold a grudge when he gets you both into some stupid bullshit...

💝 - what is their ideal type in a person?

-Someone who enjoys vkei. The aesthetic or music. Obviously, with Jyushi, this is a given. He wants you to be able to come to his concerts and see you in the crowd. It gets him so giddy whenever he sees you there supporting him.

-Someone who supports him through it all. He's been through a lot in his life and he's a sensitive guy. He doesn't want to sound selfish when he says that his ideal type in a person is someone who supports him through anything because worry not, he'll support you just as much.

-Someone who is sensitive. Not to say you have to be someone who cries a lot or anything of that nature but he wants a partner who is sensitive to emotions. Sometimes he's nervous to bring something up so he wants his partner to be able to be sensitive towards his feelings.

-Someone who accepts him how he is. Accept him to say the least. Accept Amanda, his chunibyo personality, his vkei band, and everything else and don't judge him for any of it.

💝 - what is their ideal type in a person?

-Someone who is not overconfident. He wants his partner to have confidence in themselves, of course, but he doesn't want them to have an ego that he'd have to keep in check all of the time.

-Someone who doesn't mind his busy schedule. There are times where he gets home and all he wants to do is chill. He wants his partner to understand that he's busy and wants you to understand that yes, he sometimes might be home after you've gone to bed because of work.

-Someone who is hardworking. Doesn't matter in what way you are hardworking, he just wants his lover to not be lazy. Everyone has their days but in the long run, he wants his partner to work hard for the things they earn.

-Someone who is understanding. He can have his fair share of outbursts that come out of nowhere and he wants his lover to understand that he doesn't mean it no matter how serious or angry he sounded. He wants a lover who, although getting upset with him, will understand and listen to him.

Pile 1 you may have a tendency to look at the small details, at the little thing that doesn't go well and worry about it, instead of seeing the whole picture and trying to just go with the flow and enjoy all the good that is going on around. Could be a sign of perfectionism that might have been instilled in you in your childhood (you needed to do all perfectly to be acknowledged - that's a very painful trauma, sorry). Or maybe there's some sort of difficult realtionship you need to find a way to end.

I'm channeling a song about "break" (can't really remember the band performing it and it's driving me nuts) so you may find a break into something (maybe some betrayal coming to light) or some annoying stuff. Or, for some, could be a painful break up/goodbye (doesn't have to be romantic, it could be family, friends, colleagues, school mates...).

Whatever I'm channeling 3000 other songs. I mean, guys...

You may be in a kind of stressful period and this may block a bit the blessings/new starts that are due to come to you. I think there's some closure with the past that needs to be done (for real: some of you may think it's already closed, but probably the other party, or a trigger, may make you see things differently). For others it could be about finding out something from the past, in particular: some people judging you or trying to block you or just having done something behind your back. For as much as it may hurt to find these things out, don't let this get to you too much. You're not responsible for others' feelings/doings (and in general: if you're doing a good job, chances are haters and sabotaging people will come to you very easily). Just be clear about where you stand, about your feelings and boundaries. And stop this inner battling you're being self-inflicting: it's not worthy. Remember poison only affects those who drink it. Don't drink that, let others do ;). Don't stress over things that won't help you grow anymore. Ofc, feel all the pain you need to feel cause it's not good to sweep stuff under the rug and pretend to be okay when you're actually hurting; but then let it go. Let the past stay in the past. Find your emotional stability: do not turn into someone you're not, don't let the pain change you. You're strong, you can control your mind and heart and don't let things get to your core and change you. Manifest a new start, manifest peace, manifest control. You can have it all. Again, just beware of people that may be willing to hurt you again (learn fast your lesson about it so it won't happen again, and you'll be able to receive your new blessings) during your journey, or random traps of your mind (in particular).

I see this autumn you'll keep working and learning, practicing a lot of self care but also learning new skills for what you want to manifest in your life. And you're also have more strenght and will to manifest (I mean, you deserve accolades, even more than before. Keep going!) You're being more open and confident, especially about your ideas and feelings. You won't hide yourself much anymore. You're be more into yourself, your beautiful amazing special self. You'll totally be in your power, and won't shy away from it, no matter what. You'll be in the light. You'll put down to work and get whatever you want. And you know you will, cause you are in charge of your life, you are the architect of your life, so keep building!

Self sabotaging, self inflicted pain, or having others hurt you or control you, won't be a thing anymore. Things will completely change for the better, you'll reap the fruits of all your hard job. Your Guides will always be by your side guiding you, also along your spiritual journey - may mean you're being spiritually awakened/enlightened during this season, and be more balanced between your material and spiritual light. For some, it can be that you're going to finally accept your mission here as a lightworker/tarot reader/astrologer/... and learn more about it/how to do it at your best. You may have struggled in the past to fully accept and welcome that, maybe you didn't fully believe you were good enough/were not ready to take on that journey, but it seems that now it's time.

For some, you might meet someone that will guide you through this spiritual awakening (or maybe you will meet your destined person/especially if you had drems about them - btw, some of you may have had dreams about your mission here too. Well I'm seeing some people talking about this, and I really don't want to get too much into this kind of things (unless I see someone cross any line, then I will talk), but I have two things to say:

(Also I know the problem is mainly in other platforms but I only actively use tumblr so that's why I'm writing this here. And this is not directed to anyone in specific, I just need to let it out)

First of all, I hope all my posting didn't come out as "speculating" or anything, I just find it fun that they are not giving us too much information before hand, because it's making my mind think about all the different possibilities and I like posting them here. But even so, I am so so excited for the next three chapters, whatever they might be. I honestly didn't know about Damon before all this, but he truly looks like such a wonderful and transparent artist and I'll definitely be looking at more of his work because he's truly amazing. So, whatever he gives us, be it just Kris and Bojan, be it all of them individually, be it any ""ship"" content, or be it something else, I'll take it very gladly.

We will get whatever Damon and the guys want to give us and nothing more. They are showing their vulnerabilities to us (because that's what Damon focuses on), and we as a fandom are not in any place to judge or comment about what would or wouldn't be better for them to do. In fact, we should be greatful that they're showing this side of themselves to us. Of course, we can talk about the different possibilities and what we'd like to see; but that's not the same as saying what they should do.

From my honest point of view (which again, doesn't change whatever they do, and I don't want to either), I would really like to see each one of the guys individually because we barely see them like that. Don't get me wrong, I love them together and their photoshoot as a band always have me screaming, but there'a something so nice about the idea of getting to see them individually (like we already did with Bojan and Kris). And it's not because my faves are coincidentally the other three, but because I want all of them to know that we see them. I want all of them to feel appreciated. I want all of them to know that we love them for who they are. They are a band as a whole, and they themselves have made it clear that no one is more important than the others. Each one of them is different and without them Joker Out doesn't exist, at least how we know them right now.

Second of all, I'm actually really thrilled about what the kissing part might mean, but not in the "I want my ships to come true" kinda way (of course I would be very happy if one (or more) of my ships turned out to be true, but then again if it is actually true they should have the opportunity to come out when (or if) they want and how they want, not because of the pressure from the fans.), but in the way that it could actually mean a lot to a lot of people. I'm talking from my perspective as a cis girl here, but I know A Lot of guys (probably 99% of the guys I know) that never show affection for their friends in this kind of ways because "what will people say?". And even though it happens between girls too, it is (from what I've seen and I think people will agree with me on this one) so much worse in the case of guys.

I was actually thinking about this yesterday because I spent the day with my best friend of 18 years, and we spend all the time hugging each other close, giving each other pecks on the cheeks and holding hands, and suddenly it hit me that I never see guys doing that with their friends. I've never seen guys being so affectionate with their friends in this kind of way. And believe me, I have lots of guy friends and they're probably a whole lot closer with each other than I am with most of my friends. But they just never show it in physical ways because even hugging each other is seen as something bad for some (very stupid) reason.

Where I was going with this is that I really really appreciate the fact that the guys from Joker Out are always so open about their affection for each other (eg. when they hug each other all the time, Bojan ruffling everyone's hair, Jure calling them "my boys" and saying he's really happy just being with them, all their shenanigans on stage, the whole "conspiracy theory" thing, them sharing kisses from time to time, and so on and so forth), because I've personally NEVER seen anyone being like that and it truly feels like an inspiration.

And on top of all of this, if we get Damon actually photographing any of this (again, be it whatever they want it to be) and sharing it with the world feels truly freeing in some way.

And what if some of them are actually queer? What if all of them are queer? What if none of them are? What if they never want to address any of this and just keep living their lives however they want like the normal people they are? We shouldn't care and we shouldn't push them to share anything about their personal lives because they don't have to.

I just want guys (and everyone in the world but you know what I mean) to be able to kiss and hug their friends, I want guys to be able to say "I love you" or "I miss you" to their friends without having to worry about what everyone will think or people speculating on their sexualities. I really hope someday people will understand that it's not bad to show platonic affection and love and that it's just as important as romantic love...

see maybe this is just me, but As A Character Designer Myself i think the rain code designs are some of komatzuzaki's best work yet. they're weird and campy and yet they work so well. i do think the characters' personalities shine through on first and second glances. I don't even usually like neon colors but I think the combo of bright neons with understated neutrals is so fascinating and memorable. no one else does it like this. a lot of the small details on the designs are actually packed with symbolic meaning (esp. yakou's - I'd love to see you unpack all that) and the overabundance of logos is evocative of the corpo-cyber-future setting. the rain code designs feel much more cohesive in terms of that setting than the DR designs do - which makes sense bc DR is more about disparate people being united by their circumstances - dialed to 11 in v3 where the designs are at their wackiest. but this ain't about her this is about rain code.

I love that characters you wouldn't expect (zange, fubuki, priest...) have weird facial piercings and tattoos. I love that the animal ears are never explained. I love desuhiko's tboy swag and yeah, the golden yellow and the dirty blonde and the neon yellow accents don't look great together - and I think the clashing colors work wonders to establish his personality. this kid dressed himself and thought it would make him look cool. you idiot. aphex's hat is stupid. zilch's ears are stupid. vivia's bandages-instead-of-clothes are stupid - and yet reading into that choice is very insightful. (he puts on a lazy air but if he was really lazy he'd just put on an oversized emo band tee instead of wrapping himself up like a mummy every day. he actually does care about how he comes across to people.)

there's a few videos about fashion YouTubers judging the DR fits, and at one point they brought in Yuma and shinigami and they hated yuma's outfit so much because it's dorky and they wouldn't wear it. but like!!! that's the whole point is that it's dorky!!!! his little trainee shorts. his stupid fkin bowl cut making him look like a little boy whose mom still cuts his hair. (which of course turns out to be a meaningful deception. his haircut influences how the audience and other characters see him to great effect.) and yet he has the coolest fkin shoes ever and when he puts his hat and cape on he's got such an iconic silhouette. teru teru bozu lookin ass /pos.

anyway yeah. i wasnt a fan of komatzuzaki's designs in the beginning but over the years ive come around. I'm a firm designer that a character design doesn't necessarily have to look good to be a good character design. I like it when they aren't afraid to make the characters look cringe - I love cringe. I eat it up. thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

Even more perspectives! I think your take of 'bad-looking designs can be good actually' is a great way to look at Rain Code's characters. To put it simply, it's unique! 'Nobody does it like Komatsuzaki'-kind of campiness. Honestly, Rain Code's designs remind me a lot of Danganronpa 2's designs in terms of color. That cast is full of much brighter colors compared to the lesser saturation of DR1 n V3's cast colors. And it makes sense cause it's a brighter game overall in terms of setting and upping the ridiculousness of the killing game in every way! Rain Code sorta follows that with its own designs by crankin' up the neons to really ride the idea home that this game is wacky right from the get-go and it's a Resident Evil game in disguise! And y'know what Resident Evil loves to indulge in? Campiness! Rain Code wears its inspirations on its sleeve, and that's totally chill.

As a sidenote to your sidenote regarding Yakou's clothing details, I have actually written a bit about how he might perceive them, but I haven't yet written about what they could truly mean in terms of how they relate to him narratively. The meaning of the phoenix patterns are painfully obvious though heh. And I also greatly appreciate the recognition that Vivia really does care about his appearance despite his 'laziness'. His hedonistic lifestyle includes his own attire, wearing whatever he pleases no matter the effort! Like I've preached before, Vivia has the energy, he just prefers to use it only when necessary.

Sooo I wasn't planning on doing this post just yet and I don't have a good digital drawing of her yet, but

Ana!!

So my take on her is very different from how I think most people imagine her, I wanted to go in a different direction that made her more than just the girl one/ninten's girlfriend/nicher Paula and she's become one of my favorite characters to play around with ^^

Design details and a giant wall of text detailing her character and story below :3

So like the entirety of my interpretation of Ana stems from one thing

Very prominent eyebrows (Invasion From the Unknown actually mentions the same thing!!! the illustrations don't show it though and there's not really any other similarities between that version and mine), mouth usually spread in a frown, she's not a happy person Pink dress with a white collar and frill at the bottom, pink hat with a black band (or maybe cream with a red/pink band? i might play around with that idk), red shoes and white stockings She almost always wears her hat when she's out, having to leave it behind in Reindeer was very frustrating but she knew she'd get it back eventually at least (And yeah, she's fat. Her sprite doesn't look fat, I haven't seen other designs that make her fat, I didn't really take inspiration from her model because I hate it and it's not really fat either, I just wanted there to be a fat girl who's not, like, a mean-spirited joke, and since MOTHER's sprites are suuuper vague I decided to take advantage of it and design the characters however I wanted. thank god i'm on tumblr and not posting these to reddit or something, they'd crucify me)

Now her character!

Basically, Ana is grumpy and sour Constantly

You can contrast that with Ninten's 24/7 positivity

In general, I see the world of MOTHER 1 being very bleak and gloomy, with Ninten being the sole exception who helps bring light to the places and people whose souls are being crushed by the weight of everything Ana's sort of the final boss of repressed emotions and pessimism for Ninten to tackle (besides the actual final boss, who completely blows anyone else's emotional repression out of the water - I have a Giygas post in my drafts but I honestly have too much to say about him, I need to trim it down ><) It alllllll plays into the themes I wanna play with in my M1 interpretation :3

So Ana was a young girl living with her mother and father in Snowman's local chapel. Even before the Invasion she was pretty well-known for not being particularly upbeat. She was super reserved, pretty much never smiled, and preferred reading and praying to other people's company. She got some of it from her father, who was a priest and raised her to value proper behaviour and following God or whatever, but she's also just kinda like that. Her mother was much warmer, loving her daughter and never judging her for being less outgoing than the other kids, and Ana was always happiest curled up with her next to the fire, listening to a story.

Oh, and of course she's psychic, powerfully so. Bad news if you tick her off. Her family regards it as a miracle from God. She's a little clairvoyant, but not enough to know exactly what the future holds. Just short little confusing snippets and hints of what to do and expect.

One day, everything suddenly changed. The town was hit by an earthquake, everything was covered in darkness, the animals on the outskirts of town went berserk, and people went missing. The sounds and the shaking jolted Ana awake, and she ran down the hall hoping to be comforted by her mother. Opened the door, standing there with a candle, staring at the empty bed and a shattered window.

Ana buried her feelings and set out to try and find her mother (her father just stayed home and prayed, never leaving the chapel), but the monsters and creatures that had appeared were too strong for her alone, and she could only get as far as Reindeer before she had to turn back. But she heard a little voice in her head that told her to leave her hat behind, and she knew that whoever returned it to her would be the person she had to follow to rescue her mother. She waited impatiently back at her home, praying with her father, obsessively reading the news (similar disappearances all over the country, especially in Easter, interesting), and hoping that the hero, "Ninten," would show up soon.

Eventually, after FAR longer than she was happy with, he showed up and. Is this really the hero? This is just some bucktoothed kid and his geeky friend. She shoved down her frustrations along with everything else (at the very least she appreciated finally having her hat back) and told him that she needed to join him. He's happy to meet her of course because he's Ninten ("New friend!" "We are not friends.") And so the trio gets to set off on their journey!

In the completely wrong direction. Why are we stopping in Halloween.

For some reason, Ninten doesn't seem overly concerned about the fate of the world. He and his stupid friend just keep goofing off and hunting for these useless melodies. This isn't a scavenger hunt. The world is gonna be destroyed. She's furious, but she bottles it up. This is the person who's apparently fated to save Earth, so she has to stay with him, no matter how annoying he is or how much time he wastes.

So Ana spends the whole journey getting progressively more ticked off as they keep getting distracted by the hunt for the melodies. Ninten's shenanigans and his relentlessly positive attitude continue to get on her nerves, and she refuses to engage with them. This is a SERIOUS mission, and she's not gonna stoop to their foolish level, even if she has to stick with them.

So I'll be able to get more into the fight among the group when Teddy joins when I do his post, but short story is that Ana is against Lloyd staying. If they're actually gonna see this mission through to its end, someone strong like Teddy's gonna be far more useful, and they've wasted far too much time to let Lloyd slow them down. Her anger's really starting to boil over at this point. They've been together for ages, and they've barely gotten any closer to saving the world.

This all finally comes to a head on the Mountain (I love the Mountain, everything happens on the Mountain). Ninten's starting to lose his cool as the stress of their journey starts getting heavier and heavier, having to leave Lloyd was incredibly painful, and he's angry with her for not having their backs. She snaps that they aren't friends, they're just allies on the same mission, and they can't afford to waste time goofing off and making pals, and the fight gets more and more heated until everything Ana's been holding in finally bursts free.

She's terrified, and she's been terrified ever since her mother disappeared, and she doesn't know if they can really win or if she'll ever see her mother again, and having to just stay bottled up while they just wandered around seemingly not doing anything has been awful, and infuriating, and she can't stop herself from crying anymore.

Ninten quiets down and lets her have what she needs for a few minutes before he tries to comfort her. He didn't realize she was keeping all this inside, and he feels horrible that she was dealing with this the entire time. Once her tears die down, he rests his hand on her and assures her that they're gonna save her mother, and everyone else, too. He doesn't know how, and he's terrified sometimes too, but he also knows that for whatever reason, they need the melodies if they want to win. He apologizes for just ignoring all her feelings for the entire journey, and tells her that even though she's been so firm about not liking them, he doesn't want her to be alone. She can tell him anything, she doesn't need to keep everything to herself. That's what being friends is about, right?

So this is huge for both of them, and it's when Ana finally starts to warm up. She finally sees that it's good to be open and have friends, and that they'll be stronger for it if they're close. And, as they climb further up the Mountain and continue being friends, she starts to realize some muuuuch more uncomfortable feelings, too. Of course she pushes them down at first, but when they reach the cabin, they're alone together, and who knows if she'll have another chance to open up like this, she comes out and asks Ninten to dance.

I flip-flop a lot on whether Ninten actually feels mutually about her (you can choose yes or no when she asks if you like her back, I don't think Ninten's really ready to figure that stuff out for himself), but goddd I love this scene so much, for such a simple, clunky game, its tender moments hit so hard ;-;

So by the end of the story, Ana's reunited with her mother, she finally has friends that she loves and cares about, she's discovered new things about herself, and she's developed a new sense of hope and brightness for the future. A happy ending :)

So that's my version of Ana, I think she's very different from every other version I've seen of her so it's not like I'll ever see content for her that'll really speak to me unfortunately, but I love her and I love thinking about her dynamic with the other characters ^^

Do find it interesting how Copley's entire character is based on denial. Especially when it comes to his involvement in the key plot points.

He's in denial about his wife. Even if he admits that she is dead, he refuses to move on. It's been two years, and he still wears the wedding band. Just in that very short scene of him in his office we see two pictures of her (one of their wedding on the shelf and one of her right in between his PC monitors, so she's always in his peripheral vision at least). Someone who wanted to move on would have kept the pictures somewhere to look at when they felt the need, not exactly where they were before, as a constant reminder of her passing. And they definitely wouldn't keep wearing the wedding band.

What I'm trying to say is that even though Copley, obviously, knows rationally that his wife is dead, subconsciously he is still in denial because he refuses to move on. And because he refuses to move on, he keeps trying to find a way to do something about it. He obsessively follows the immortals and Merrick (who is specifically looking into making cures for the type of disease that killed Copley's wife) looking for a way to help cure her illness, because it is the closest he can get to curing his wife. To making up for not being able to save her. To rewriting what happened to his family. (And if he ever got that, he'd have to face the fact that he can't bring his wife back and actually process his grief instead of trying to Do Something To Stop ALS as a means of putting off facing her death).

The entire plot wouldn't have happened if Copley hadn't been in denial about the fact that there is nothing left for him to do about his wife. If he hadn't refused to process his grief by choosing to obsess over finding a cure to ALS instead, he wouldn't have found out about the Guard's immortality, and wouldn't have sold them out to Merrick.

But it doesn't stop there. Even his small decisions are driven by denial. I always laugh at the "there was an unanticipated amount of carnage" because Copley. James. Babygirl. They are immortal mercenaries who have fought in more wars than most people learn of in school. We know that they're trying to do good and don't like killing, but we also know they're willing to. And with a secret this big at risk of being revealed, there is no way they'd have left anyone get out of that room alive.

Which someone as smart as Copley, who's ex-CIA, for crying out loud, should have predicted. The only way Copley could have possibly believed that his little trap wouldn't end in a bloodbath is if he was neck-deep in denial of the fact that his plan would kill innocents. Because again, Copley desperately needs to believe that he's doing good, that he's working for the sake of humanity, that he will save his wife people

And sure, he could have been lying about not anticipating it, but judging by: the fact that he doesn't need to because Merrick doesn't give a fuck; the fact that the carnage actually got in the way of his plans, because he couldn't get DNA samples; and his horrified look as he watched the footage, I really don't think that he was. I think he genuinely, truly did not expect that it would be (so) bloody. Or, more accurately, didn't want to believe it would, or maybe didn't even want to think about what the consequences of his trap would be beyond "I get the samples, ASL is cured". He was laser focused on his goal, and he didn't see anything else. If Copley hadn't been in denial about this, his trap would probably have been set up differently, at the very least.

And then, of course, the entire second half is a parade of Copley being in denial about the obvious, completely unmistakable fact that Merrick is a piece of shit who could not care less about helping people. Merrick isn't even trying to pretend otherwise. Yet Copley is surprised by his complete lack of ethics. The way he screams "Mr Merrick!" when Merrick starts stabbing Joe, like anyone in the world didn't see that coming; his "this is about science, not profits, or sadism" like he truly believed that's what it was for them; warning him that "this would be murder" like Merrick cared; the genuinely shocked "for... ever?"; the "no, this is not what we agreed" when this is exactly what they agreed on. The agreement was that he would bring Merrick the immortals and he would experiment on them to make medicine. He had to have known forced experimentation and potential murder was what was going to happen, especially because Merrick took 0 efforts to not make that obvious. But somehow Copley had convinced himself that they would get DNA samples and then leave them alone, which is an insane assumption to make after everything Merrick's done and said.

But Merrick's company was working on a cure for degenerative diseases. They could, very soon, cure ALS. So Copley needed it to be him, needed him to be interested in doing this ethically, needed to believe that, once again, his brilliant plan wasn't actually just hurting more innocents in a desperate quest to save a dead woman.

Because Copley does believe in doing good. We know that because no one who doesn't actually, deeply care about humanity would go looking into what happened to all the people that the Guard saved. Just the fact that he researched that, tried to find out what happened to the victims, shows that he is a very compassionate person with a very humanized perspective on war and conflict. He went looking into generations of descendants of people saved by the Guard. I don't think most people would even bother to think of looking at what happened to them beyond being a footnote in the Guard's history, especially not anyone as obsessed with them as Copley was. But Copley did. He looked into every single person, and what happened to them.

Taking that into account, as well as the fact that Copley was genuinely fighting Merrick on his decisions, I think that Copley - unlike Merrick, Keane, and Kozak - does care about doing the whole thing ethically. The thing, of course, is that without their consent that is impossible, which Copley is too smart and compassionate not to know. But letting them go would mean facing that there won't be a miracle cure for his wife, and he cannot handle admitting that. So, he adds "trying to convince himself this could be in any way ethical and he can convince Merrick to do it that way" to the list of completely out of touch beliefs he's been holding because of denial.

The result is that even though he obviously knew that Merrick was a fucking piece of shit (just the fact that he added "or sadism" proves that), he didn't actually face that as a fact until the moment Nile confronted him and he said "they are in the lab, being tested" and then closed his eyes and went, "tortured". Again, denial made an appearance, but this time he made the conscious decision to take a deep breath and stop lying to himself. This is the first time he acknowledges what's actually going on there, and by proxy, his part in it. And all it took was being quite literally hit over the head with it, as well as possibly killing the single person who's made the most good in the history of humanity. But I digress.

It is also in that same confrontation with Nile that he finally admits the obvious - that he was trying to save someone who was gone. He says he wants to help humanity, but in the end he's only being truly honest about his motives when he says "she couldn't talk, my wife. In the end." This is also the first and only time we see him actually mourning his wife, because it is the first time he is in any way processing that her death was final. Up until then, he only talked about her detachedly, and kept all these mementos of her like she still lived in the house.

And that's why his confrontation with Nile is also the shift of his loyalties. Because it is the point in which he breaks his cycle of denial and admits that his wife is gone, he can't save her, and that in trying to do so he's hurt innocents and handed them over to a greedy asshole. And once he finally, finally faces that, he realizes he has to do something about it. Which is why he helps Nile and wants to storm the place with her, insists on it, admits that pharma CEO's are full of shit ("what kind of CEO walks around with his own personal army?" "these days? Most of them"), and agrees to help erase the Guard's footprints. And even though Copley was (or wanted to believe he was) good-intentioned, he wasn't able to do good until he stopped lying to himself.

So Copley's denial is what shaped the way the whole movie goes - if he weren't in denial he wouldn't have found out about the Guard's immortality, wouldn't have set them up the way he did, wouldn't have sold them out to Merrick specifically, and wouldn't have allowed Merrick to continue for as long as he did. And once he got over the denial, that was also a point that helped shape the resolution of the plot (I'm sure Nile would have found everyone anyway, but Copley's help did speed up the process). And I find it interesting how this one thread of how he chose to deal with his grief ended up not only defining his character, but the course of events in the movie - despite the fact that he's not a main character.

Which actually also ties off in a really interesting perspective where most of the things that happen over the course of the movie are dictated by the characters' refusal to try to get better. The whole movie would be heading towards a massive tragedy, Greek-style, if there weren't a character who is quite literally defined by her refusal to go with the tide - Nile. Unlike Andy, Booker, and Copley, who let their grief and self destruction take over their life, and Joe and Nicky (+Booker again), who let Andy make all the relevant family decisions, Nile refuses to let anyone or anything decide her fate for her. She doesn't defer to Andy just because Andy is the oldest and very clearly capable; she fights her at nearly every turn, even when it's impossible for her to win, because she is not willing to compromise her beliefs or let anyone dictate what she's going to do. She will do it if she believes in it, and only then. And Nile also isn't willing to listen to Copley's bullshit, which forces him to face what he's been trying to hide from himself.

So, you know - maybe this is the why Nile. Because she's young and strongheaded, and so she holds the hope and the possibility of doing things differently. Of choosing your potential future. And that's why she makes Andy realize that she's been doing a shit job of living, but she can do different.

Although this might be a different analysis altogether. My point with this one was - Copley's tendency towards denial was one of the most powerful forces shaping the course of events in the movie. And Nile's unwavering sense of morality and freedom of choice was the opposing force.

PS so there are no doubts about it: I'm not saying that what Copley did was justified or that you have to like him. This is a character analysis and nothing more, or less.

We all know how absolutely humble to a fault Patrick is, but I'd say that Pete is just as self-depreciating of his own talent and worth, which makes me so deeply sad.

He writes arguably some of the most gorgeous, heartfelt poetry ever written, but it only makes sense to him coming out of Patrick's mouth...

Always being the first to make himself the butt of the joke, before anyone else can...

Physically and metaphorically putting himself in front of his bandmates time and again, so they don't have to take the brunt of the storm...

I just will never EVER understand why anybody ever hated or made fun of this man, and I really do hope that this era of healing has helped him see how very loved he and his work really are!

THIS. He really does take the brunt of everything, he clearly feels like that's his job -- although he does it much less these days, because I think his band watches out for this tendency of his -- and the fact that he is always so self-deprecating about his talent, so defensive, just speaks of years of being quiet about it, of making himself smaller to protect himself better. The fact that he always hides behind making it seem like he doesn't do much of anything at all, he just ate too many lead paint chips as a kid, it's no big deal, it's nonsense -- he never owns the fact that he's good with words, clever with them, talented with them. People are already so mean and mocking to him. Imagine how much worse they would be to him if they thought he actually thought he was good at what he does. Ugh.

It's also so much easier for Pete to see the talents of the other people around him. It's harder for him to judge himself (like so many of us). I think Pete and Patrick have both said that their partnership works so well because they reassure each other where they would be inclined to be uncertain about their own contributions. I think he really is uncertain, I don't think he thinks he's anything brilliant. Just like Patrick. They fit each other so well. <3

But I'm with you, it's heartbreaking that people want to hate or make fun of him, but I do think he's learned to get better at focusing on the people showing him love, and I feel like there have been a lot of them lately, and I really do think he has felt that love.

Gotta love how everyone just rushes over to see Milly fight, and that Jake knows exactly who they're talking about (even though they've been friends for like 2 weeks). Really shows how much of a negative-ish reputation Milly has (relatable man)

Fuck Miss Jones man she sucks she can't even break off a fight who hired this bitch.

I really like the fight scene, Luke's animation is kinda wonky but I really miss seeing Kurie's animation!! I really miss the old GL episodes, they were just so much more well-written, and the amount of editing done by Rosy in them is really underrated like they seriously look so good considering how limited GL was.

God, seeing Milly fight for something Zoey stole is really fucking relatable. Like, my bullies always steal my books, my sketchbooks, my pencil case..etc. and I always get in trouble when I try to wrestle them for it. Like, I get yelled at and keep getting told "You're a girl you shouldn't be fighting with anybody!" and all they get for pushing me over the edge is a slap on the wrist, schools are really unfair (and then adults wonder why we don't talk to them about shit).

Um, side note, I really forgot how weird Henriam were in the first few episodes- like you could see the basis of their characters as we know them now being established but it's still so weird seeing them like this (also Henry is almost Liam's height in GL which makes me want to die)

Imma just skip over the Miss Jones scene I practically said everything I have to say but before that Drew was too much of a dick in this episode in an unlikeable way like THANK GOD he's barely in this one and seeing Lia flirting with Jake feels very wrong for some reason. Still love her GL outfit though <33

Seeing the club pressuring Milly to talk speaks to me on a weirdly personal level. Everyone wants me to talk about my feelings, but have you ever considered that I don't want to talk about them? That I am still not comfortable enough to let you in? To let you see that I am vulnerable? To actually confront the fact that I am not okay? I know the music club and the ppl ik irl genuinely mean well, but sometimes people aren't willing to talk, and you should respect that. Sometimes, just being there to keep us company and not judge us is enough, yk?

Side note: can really relate to Milly's reflex of hitting people when they get too close, I literally have to stop myself from punching my own mother whenever she grabs my arm or something I fucking hate being touched and I like the nice detail of Zander smiling when he found out who punched Jake.

Honestly, fuck Zander man. I joked about Hailey not caring about Milly's feelings, about Zander straight up doesn't care.

[In tears] I swear people really underestimate how fucked up someone's psyche can be when they're all cheery and hyper. Media has made us believe that people who bottle up emotions are all cold and depressed but really the most cheerful people you knew tend to be the most depressed. The only other major examples from my fandoms that fit this category that I can think of are KEL from Omori and Kokichi form Dangan, but I feel like KEL fits this statement more that Ouma tbh

That final interaction with Milly and Jake where they reflect on the whole thing is just- beautiful, awesome, fantastic. It's really sweet and I love seeing Milly finally being comfortable enough to talk about her feelings (even if she isn't being too specific or conveying all of her feelings)

Anyways, I love the sound effects Rosy used to add whenever people would blush, I miss it (iirc it isn't in any of the new ep)

All of them are very caring though, and I feel like all of them have had to deal with things like nightmares and maybe even panic attacks, because they all went through stuff that was more or less traumatic. So I think they all would act kind of similar. :)
