A new sculpture! Finally... I feel like I never sculpt anymore since I'm always sick or have some 500 other things going on or projects to finish, but I'm trying to schedule time to do it more often this year hopefully..! Just a generic fantasy creature as usual, but did try making the eyes a little more sparkly this time.. hrmm..

so it turns out it was actually never that serious
#the exam literally went fine what the fuck just happened i feel like i just hallucinated that#like im not one of those people that go 'omg i did soooo badly :(' just to come out with top grades if i say it's going to shit#then it's becuase i genuinely wholeheartedly believe it#and my headspace before this exam was the worst it's been in MONTHS like i havent felt that bad for an exam since first year#and i sat down opened the paper and. remembered everything. like i literally just Knew the answers#im not saying ive passed bc am i fuck about to jinx it and i was still riding mainly blind bc i have NO idea where that knowledge came from#but at the very least there was a 35 marker that i KNOW i aced like i could picture the exact lecture slides it wanted me to discuss#and i had all of them memorised so at the very least ive got like. 30 marks. which is enough for me to pass the module#bc this exam is only weighted 75% and with my marks from the other 25% i only needed like 20 marks to pass this exam#which... makes it even more embarrassing that i failed it the first time but whatever!!!!#oh my god im so glad that's done im so happy IM FREE#just been in the kitchen dancing around to my little tunes and texting my friends <3#im meeting up with one of them when she gets off work at 5 and we're going for drinks#so ive got until then to nap and chill and then ill go to the shop and get us some food and wine#and she's gonna come here for a bit & then we'll go. like actually look at me. im having people over at MY HOUSE im going out to buy us WIN#im literally a functioning adult living independently who IS she a misty memory#alas i do only have £23 in my account so this is gonna be such a slay seeing how i make that stretch for a night out#i acc could budget for england when it comes to alcohol i think like the way i manage to have a good funky time with MINIMAL funds#is downright impressive. it's a skill idc what you say#hella goes to uni

I gotta be honest. If I look at a character list on Wikipedia and get five characters down without seeing a single woman, it's probably not for me.
#I have no patience for 'there is exactly one woman in the main/supporting cast' anymore#unless the writing is INCREDIBLE and the themes are explored with a type of depth and nuance I can't get anywhere else (like shiki)#(daily media plug for shiki)#then I just. probably will not vibe with it. if there are no women. (also shiki DOES have interesting female characters in it)#and this isn't to say that like. things involving men or talking about men or that have a male protagonist are Not Worth#My Time that is NOT what I'm saying at all. I just want like. several women. who show up and affect the story. like LITERALLY that is all I#am asking for. COURTESY OF LIVING IN A PREJUDICED SOCIETY.) into a#direct and one-to-one evaluation of stories or characters that allow you to exercise those biased ideas. then that reinforces those biases#like. no hating...for example every anime lady isn't the same as structural misogyny like the pay gap or anti-women violence#but if you automatically associate the idea of 'female character' with 'lesser-than' it strengthens the already-present societal idea that#women are not as important or dynamic or worthy of support and attention as their male peers. if you are willing to see every (white)#fictional man as having interiority and depth but struggle to see that in any fictional woman then it adds to the things society is already#telling us about women. it creates an association of 'women' with 'inferiority' and uh. that's what misogyny is.#it is not the same as misogynistic crimes against irl women but it IS a reflection of the rhetoric and societal impulses that lead to them#and even if it's a reflection and not the actual thing. it's still important to break down and examine and reevaluate because#if we don't examine our OWN biases. then even if we tear down the greater oppressive structure we'll just end up building it back up again#no your thousands of words of m/m fanfiction or liking late 2000s shonen anime isn't responsible for misogyny nor are these things#inherently misogynistic. i immediately lose all motivation to do a thing if someone else does it first because to me, it'll come off like i'm shamelessly copying them or that i thought i could do it better.

So Vanitas no Carte, huh.
This post is brought to you by my late night ramblings in the tags of this post
Spoilers, Theories, and Angst below. You have been warned.
So in the panel linked above, Vanitas says “If I’m going to be killed, I want Noe to do it.” and way back in chapter 9, we have Louis saying something very similar, “If I’m going to die anyway, I want [Noe] to do it.” These are some very obvious parallels for Noe’s whole character arc, and given what happened to Louis, it’s been making me think about what the end of this series will look like eventually.
Okay tumblr won’t let me put these images next to each other to shorten the post, so apologies in advance if this gets long. Anyway, with Louis, he’s had his true name stolen and is essentially “corrupted” and the bourreaus will kill him anyway once word spreads. He’s begging Noe to kill him so he doesn’t have to die at the hands of someone who doesn’t seem him for himself, even as he’s losing a grip on his sense of self. Unfortunately, Noe can’t bring himself to do it. He’s only a kid at this point, after all, and it ends up being his Teacher who does the deed.
Now with Vanitas, we know he has a mark of Vanitas of the Blue Moon on his arm and we know it spreads as he uses Vanitas’ power, slowly taking his humanity away from him. We’ve seen what would happen if he were to exert himself too much with Mikhail in the most recent arc, and we also have it confirmed that Noe has never killed anyone, though we know by the end of the series he’ll kill Vanitas.
I think, based on this, that Vanitas’ mark will continue to spread and eventually try to take over his body, turning him from a human to a vampire and that’s something we know Vanitas doesn’t want. While he hates humans and vampires equally, he values his own humanity and doesn’t want to change into something he isn’t without his ability to control it. Vanitas will begin losing control, and Noe will have to be faced with that decision of kill him or let him live as something he isn’t, as something destructive, or let someone else kill him. But we already know how that decision ends.
