MINESTREAM

SYPNOSIS > Wanting to start a new stream series with his best friends, Jay had a bright idea of playing some simple Minecraft with them. Everything was normal, until he realises there is another person in the call with them. He quickly learns that it was ni-ki’s older sister, (name). Watch how streaming a simple game of Minecraft can dig up some interesting feelings between the main leads.

a/n: the inspiration behind jake’s little world naming…that was the first word that popped into my head. don’t ask why. I’d like to know too.

finally after so long with multiple technical issues on jay’s end, the minecraft series could officially start. he could hear jake and ni-ki just chatting about the free online soccer game they found on steam. his eyes gazed the mute button right beside your username. the other boys had turned on their cameras in discord while you and angel(Yvette) didn’t.

he hasn’t once heard your voice. well, he could barely hear your voice since he shut ni-ki’s stream off earlier due to the boys attempting to catch something. he only heard your giggle once and that was it. nonetheless, in that short moment he thought you sounded adorable. his heart drumming in his chest, wondering how your voice would sound like.

he shook his head and clicked on the stream button. as per usual, he puts on a waiting screen to tell the viewers that ‘hey, we’re going to play soon. please wait.’

he unmutes in the discord, “hey, everything has been set up. I just wanna ask what should the server name be?”

“asscrack.” jake suggests as he looks up from his computer and directly into the camera.

“what?” heeseung speaks up as he was caught off guard by the weird name.

“I don’t know, don’t ask me. I’m shit at giving names to things.” jake shrugs. the other boys deadpanned at him.

“let’s name it…sunoo and the boys.” sunoo suggests.

“as if. just put the default ‘My World’ that’s the easiest. not a single hassle to the world.” jungwon adds.

“Alphas.” sunghoon voices out.

“uhh, have you forgotten there are two girls here?” ni-ki says.

“well, who cares about that. Women can be dominant too.” sunghoon shrugs.

jay sighs, “I’m just going to call it MineStream.”

“lame ass name.” jake says. jay turns on his camera on discord and zooms in the camera to his face. he gave jake a death stare and so jake awkwardly laughs it off.

“okay, you scare me. I’m sorry.” jake pouts.

as for you, the moment jay opened his facecam. your eyes widened, a tiny gasp left your throat. since no one could see/hear your reaction due to you being muted and your camera was turned off, you were basically in shock. that man is most beautiful man you’ve ever seen.

the way his eyebrow raises as the rectangle glasses suited his face. he was just in a simple black shirt and his jet black hair was parted prettily. good lord. you were going to play with him? you were going to play with all these pretty boys?? oh lord.

“okay, the world is loading so wanna do the intro when we all load into the world?” jay asks.

“yeah, we should. we have new guests here and we have to introduce the fans too!” sunghoon says.

“alright, I’ve already loaded in. I sent the world invite into the discord. by the way, there are mods that I added to make the game more interesting.” jay says.

“the only interesting thing we should try to do is do hardcore mode or like a ‘if one person dies, everyone dies’ kinda thing.” sunoo suggests.

“we could do that for another time.”

you had clicked on the link and waited to load into the world. since ni-ki helped to create your account, you could easily go in and of course he was your first friend in the game. you had finally clicked turned on the camera in discord and so everyone could see you. you weren’t exactly streaming but you were recording for a video since ni-ki suggested that putting up videos onto YouTube also generates money. once everything was settled, jungwon claps his hand and starts off with the intro.

“hello everyone, today we are-” ni-ki’s character punches jungwon’s as he was talking. “ni-ki!”

“whoops misclick.” ni-ki says. jungwon rolls his eyes.

“today we are playing minecraft! woo!!”

“the premise of how this started. jay hyung wanted to do a series together that was nostalgic and so we decided to go with minecraft because who doesn’t love minecraft!” sunoo says.

“besides our normal friend group, we have two other people on here! let’s welcome angel and (name)!”

“hello hello.” angel says. her little vtuber character moves and tracks her movement.

“woah, cool character, angel. it’s really pretty.” sunoo says.

“oh, thank you.” angel smiles. everyone’s attention was now on you.

“oh umm, hi. I’m (name). I’m ni-ki’s older sister.” you waved towards the camera. everyone was mesmerised (excluding heeseung and ni-ki), you were beautiful.

“good god.” jake says.

“you have a very sexy voice. would love to hear that all night-” sunghoon gets cut off.

“sunghoon hyung, i will find a way to ban you from this server.” ni-ki warns him.

you giggled and jay’s heart melts. god, he’s a simp but he can’t show that…his facecam was turned on. jay turns to read a couple of his comments. most of them were simping for you. kinda made him jealous, not going to lie. plus, it didn’t help that jay had this overlay thing where whoever talked, it would display the person’s facecam (if turned on) from discord to his livestream.

— “she’s so pretty.”

— “wow, she’s so…no wonder she’s ni-ki’s older sister. the family genes are so strong.”

“let’s just start playing. gather resources everyone.” jay says.

and so everyone does. each of them collected wood, from the trees. you sat there looking clueless and so jay comes up to you in game.

“something wrong?” he asks.

“oh, sorry. this is my first time playing minecraft so I have zero clue how to do things.”

“want me to guide you?”

“sure.”

jay happily guides you on how to play the game, from punching wood to making crafting benches and finally making tools. jay turns to read the comments for a bit,

— “woah, what is this visual couple going on?”

— “yoooo, they would look cute together! like wow.”

jay was satisfied by the comments. he can’t help but look at your facecam, your concentrated face as you mined for stone and attempted to make stone weapons.

“hyung!” jungwon whacks jay’s character. it causes him to turn around.

“did you have to hit me.” jay deadpans.

“whoops, anyways. ni-ki and sunoo found a cave. I don’t remember minecraft caves being fucking huge.”

“there was a huge update I believe 1-2 years ago so yes, huge cave.”

“they also found a mob spawner with saddles in the chest and jake hyung stole them to try and get horses.”

jay sighs, “can’t say I’m not surprised.”

“are you and (name) noona flirting?” jungwon suddenly asks. it causes you and jay and to look at each other in game before turning to jungwon.

“no? he’s just teaching me how to play minecraft.”

“yeah, she doesn’t know much about the game so what better way then to teach her?”

“don’t believe it one bit. next thing you know, we will have a couple in a minecraft server who share a house together, sleep together and have cats and dogs together.”

— “oooo, jungwon is onto something.”

“the comments are agreeing with me.” jungwon smirks.

“shut the fuck up, my friend.” jay shoos jungwon away. the younger boy runs off to find sunghoon, who wants currently getting chased by a creeper.

jay sticks by you throughout the whole thing, he gives you tips and even hands you some stuff.

“we are making a community.” heeseung says.

“and why?”

“because with 9 people on this server, all the resources are going to be sucked up. also I am not sharing a house with any of you. especially, (name). she’ll make the house with pink wood.”

“there’s pink wood?” you say.

“there is, you just need to find a cherry blossom biome.” jay explains.

“why are you helping her?” heeseung asks.

“because she doesn’t know how to play and I’m just being a gentleman since you guys aren’t helping her, clearly.”

jake bursts out laughing, “I’m sorry but this is the first time I see you being so gentlemanly to a woman.”

“do you want me to set myself into creative so I can blow up your shit dirt house.” jay threatens.

“go ahead, I feel like renovating it anyways. just let me move my stuff first-”

sunoo quietly hands jay some tnt and a flint and steel. before jake could even grabbing his things from the chest. jay covers his base with the tnt and ignites it. it hisses.

“(name), I suggest you run if you don’t wanna blow up.” jay warns.

“oh.” you quickly dashed out of the way and the explosion was massive. it causes sunghoon to yell.

“I had a pet dog in there…” jake says.

“too bad, mess with me again and I’ll burn your next house.” jay says.

jake definitely learnt his lesson of not teasing jay during this session.

Gekko as boyfriend headcanons

A/N: Since we finally saw what he looks like, I'm just akebwkahakak. Like he's so cute and he might be the reason why I would return to Valorant. [Aka just getting him, playing a few times and leaving this game till I finally make myself play again aka probably never till I get enough motivation] In conclusion I'm waiting for him to come out and try to get him. Also headcanons are gender neutral per usual <;33

∿ His giving me kinda softie vibes, so I think he would be just kinda lovely and cuddly and chill

∿ Hair dyeing together! It's either both dyeing your own hair or just healing each other and having fun. He would definitely let you do some crazy patterns on his head

∿ He might even ask you to help him with cutting/shaving his hair if he's having problems

∿ He's the type of person who likes psychical touch and also like doing stuff for his partner

∿ In public Gekko will hold your hand, but in private he's more touchy and likes to hold you in his arms as much as you would allow him to

∿ He loves cuddles. He especially likes to cuddle with you while watching movies, shows etc. He is also kinda into holding you while you play video games. When you play on your bed and just casually sit, he won't be able to help himself and hold you from behind with his head on your shoulder

∿ He likes to put his hands on or around your waist whenever he's about to hug you

∿ When you're hurt psychically, he'll help as much as he can if he sees he's having trouble or when you're too hurt to help yourself

∿ When it comes to mental stuff, when you're angry, he's gonna find a way to help you let out without hurting yourself or other

∿ When you're sad or just not feeling well, if he can he will stop whatever he doing to get to you or at least call so you wouldn't be alone

∿ If you're not an Valorant Agent, he won't let you get near battles. He doesn't want you get hurt and fear of losing you makes him overprotective more than usual at times

∿ Even though he doesn't want you to get near battles, he's aware that sometimes something might happen and he won't be able to be with you all the time to help you or protect you, so Gekko will teach you self defense to make sure you would be able to handle yourself when needed

∿ If you're an Valorant Agent, besides focusing on mission, he will also look after you

∿ When he got hurt on mission and Sage can't help him, he might come to for help if the injuries are serious and he knows you can help. He will cuddles with you after as way of saying "thank you"

thank you for tagging me @irrewilderer! it’s a sims q&a thingamajig, under the cut! i will be very longwinded bc that’s how i roll

01: what’s your favorite sims death? the one you had when you got cursed by a mummy in ts3 world adventures. there is a lot of skeeviness around that whole pack, but i remember stumbling onto it in gameplay and it being deeply fucked up in a way recent installments refuse to match

02: alpha cc or maxis match? i lean maxis mix-ish but i don’t care about which way people lean ngl

03: do you cheat when your sims gain weight? this is a weird question and as someone who is experiencing a resurgence in [redacted] i think that whoever made this originally should be ashamed of themself.

04: do you use move objects? yes, no default sims grid placement may satisfy my hoarding tendencies.

05: favorite mod? ts2 needs a suite of mods to encourage it to not self-explode, but i am an acr enjoyer. with the right tuning it makes sims not breed like rabbits but have their own autonomy and people of interest that i find very enjoyable

06: first expansion/game/stuff pack you got? i believe that i got ts1 bundled with some expansion pack? so whichever one came after that until dad got tired and learned how to pirate so i could enjoy games hehe

07: do you pronounce “live mode” like aLIVE or LIVing? alive, i don’t care if it’s the wrong way

08: who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made? it has to be jess. it’s silly but writing her at times allows me to work through some shit of my own.

09: have you made a simself? i never cared to until i got me a wife who lives very far away from me hehe

10: what sim traits did you give yourself? no idea tbh, i forgot (i reek of ts3 absent minded trait)

11: what is your favorite EA hair color? the witching hour defaults and addon palette by pyxis my beloved

12: favorite EA hair? no friggin’ idea my dude

13: favorite life stage? this question would only make sense if eaxis put any thought into life stages other than young/adult since the release of the generations ep. but i’ve recently been reminded of how fun the ts2 teens are.

14: are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay? is build/buy not a gameplay function? i can’t build to save my life but i enjoy decorating and live mode (in ts2 mostly)

16: do you have any simblr friends/a sim squad? LMFAO what kinda question is this!! no i don’t have a simblr avengers squad or anything and i’m over caring about it. there’s people in the community i’m fond of but i’m not trying to join or create a clique

17: what’s your favorite game? listen. i am going to obtusely pretend that this isn’t a sims interrogatory and talk about the games that have my heart right now bc i can’t choose a single game. you have been warned.

now and forever, the games that miyazaki has directed at fromsoftware, particularly the souls series and bloodborne (i haven’t played elden ring yet but i KNOW i will adore it) are very special to me. bloodborne is a masterpiece. and i am sad that discourse has morphed these games into everything that’s wrong with Gamers and Gatekeeping. the games and the 99% of the community aren’t about that. i walked into them as someone who’d mostly played games casually but loved the games that approach storytelling indirectly. i fell in love with the marriage of gameplay and theming. i love how miyazaki approaches storytelling as an act of archaeology. the world was there long before you. you’re a nobody. things are bleak and you can’t get a straight answer out of anything, but you have other people going through it with you. you can imbue meaning and history into things, and that is beautiful. and i am bitter that one can’t say that the games don’t need an easy mode without being deemed a gatekeeper. (the games were designed with multiplayer that allows other players to cooperate with you and help you. there are gameplay styles that make things easier. all out of the box)

i am a known tes lover but morrowind is the apple of my eye. it’s weird listening to essays about modern day open world design and its pitfalls and to see how morrowind largely circumvents these issues, all the way back in 2002. the lore is amazing and once more it places a large chunk of the meaning making on the player’s hands. vvardenfell is a wonderful region of morrowind and i enjoy the diverse landscapes from the humid and mysterious bitter coast, the harsh ashlands, and the welcoming breadbasket which are the ascadian isles (lovely until you stumble upon the plantations). the exploration and navigation are unmatched and nothing will ever match the skill that is navigating the world through in game directions and learning the silt strider, boat, and stronghold routes. not to get into mark/recall/almsivi and divine intervention. you arrive at vvardenfell as a stranger and the world is hostile, but as the character becomes more familiar with the land you the player master the transversal and that’s honestly some sexy marriage of theming and gameplay. some aspects have aged horribly which is why these days i play with the amazing sexual harassment remover mod.

i think everyone owes it to themself to play outer wilds (NOT worlds). it plays into the strengths i mentioned above. i can’t say much because it ruins the purpose of the game. it’s a tender bastard of a game that makes me so happy that i am alive at a time i can play it and makes me cry every time i listen to tracks from its ost. the writing is maybe the best i have ever witnessed in any art form (“the pain of your absence is sharp and haunting, and i would give anything to not know it; anything but never knowing you at all (which would be worse)”). just play it. i wish i could hire someone to bonk me on the head and give me selective amnesia so i could play it for the first time again. just. play. it.

there’s more, like octopath traveler which is quickly climbing through the ranks, darkest dungeon, pillars of eternity, project zomboid, dragon’s dogma, journey, and more

also, it’s ts2.

20: how has your “sim style” changed throughout your years of playing? it has, but i’m not quite sure i can describe it? it’s been decades of sims so of course it’s changed.

23: how long have you had a simblr? wouldn’t you like to know, weather boy (too long)

24: how do you edit your pictures? i use Very Legitimate photoshop. these days i just run a photopeia action that gives it some color aberration and slap some noise on it.

25: what expansion/game/stuff pack is your favorite so far? i love sims 2 freetime? hobbies are such a great addition to the game that just fits in seamlessly with the rest of the game

26: what expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next? the eaxis stop shoving shit into ts4 and fix issues and let the modders have it pack

Big Celestia/Chihiro/Celeshiro headcanon post:

Wanted to compile a bunch of my headcanons here:

Celeste:

Starts off cold towards the class as in canon, but warms up to them. Becomes fiercly protective of them since they'rw her only friends

If she catches people bullying Toko, Chihiro, Taka, Hifumi, Makoto, etc she will retaliate

Is trying to come off super cool but is actually incredibly awkward. Most of the class still think she is cool after bedriending her

Extremely eager to show off her knowledge about her interests. Will just infodump on whoever is willing to listen.

Cries a lot in secret

Very insecure about her body and appearance

Also insecure about her interests that aren't gambling and European culture. Only Chihiro, Hifumi, Makoto, and Kyoko know she's into things like manga and video games. The rest suspect she's secretly a nerd.

Speaking of also prone to gamer rage and she's very thankful the dorms are sound proof

Secretly a My Little Pony fan. Only Chihiro knows because they made a joke while they were hanging out once about her name and noticed her panic. She took her first name from Princess Celestia. Also why she calls the others darling after befriending them.

If Byakuya's not around she'll be one of the first to offer to pay. She is bad at showing how much she values the others so she compensates with paying for meals or tickets to places

Basically kind of a bitchy Rarity once she has gotten over herself and connected with everyone.

Sews her own clothes, and eventually starts making clothes for the others with a discount on comissions

Gets roped into the obligatory D&D episode by Hifumi

Comes from a family that lived in poverty, got bullied as a kid as a result

Part of the bullying was being called a loser over and over again

Why she ends up being one of the first to stick up for the others

Has learned some self-defense to protect herself since she spends a lot of time illegally gambling

While she does drop more and more of her persona as time goes on, and is more authentic with everyone she still prefers the Celestia name and fancy clothing. They help her feel comfortable in her own skin.

She's only really comfortable using Taeko with the rest of Class 78, and even then not when they're out in public

Absolutely unable to cook well

Will start arguments with Byakuya, Leon, and/or Mondo for the fun of it.

Her and Makoto kinda confide in each other about how they feel like fakes next to everyone else.

She has read every single one of Toko"s books multiple times.

Ocassionally she will correct Hifumi when he gets something wrong about an anime and whistle innocently when people are stunned she knew that.

Makes the time to go to events the others are doing like Sayaka's concerts or Hina's swim meets.

Once she went with Hifumi to help sell his doujins. Ended up with Hifumi punching a guy in the face for creeping on her.

Sakura and Mondo also worry about her going to seedy parts of town to gamble and have discreetly followed her to make sure she's safe

She enjoys challenging Kyoko to various cars games

She also ends up enjoying discussing history with Taka

While at first she really hated Yasuhiro she did end up finding he could have surprisingly good advice from time to time.

Chihiro:

Trans girl. I accept any hcs on their gender. For me personally I just see them as a trans girl who compensated by trying to fit into a mold of manliness before realizing and accepting her identity.

She will also haplily offer to pay for the others when Byakuya's not around. Her programming skills have made her a good amount of money, placing her just behind Celeste's wealth and 3rd highest overall

Also can not cook at all

Has a terrible sleep schedule, will need coffee as soon as she wakes up

While she identifies she/her she still doesn't have many feminine typical interests beyond the clothing.

Bottles up frustrations and anger, lets it out online in arguments.

Genuinely admires all of her classmates

Besides Makoto she is the most popular person in her class

Cries a lot too, but openly

She has written a program for each classmate that helps with their talent in some way

Celeshiro:

While keeping it a secret everyone thought they were just crushing on each other and kept trying to get them together

They kept playing it off pretending not to get it

Kyoko knew from the start

When they finally let the others know it was after they had an argument that was their first big argument.

They like spending a lot of time together in their dorms watching movies/tv, playing games together, being affectionate, and talking a lot

Because they both have a lot of hang ups they end up comforting one another a lot.

Said this before but Celeste ended up trauma dumping on the first date.

Celeste also had a panic attack prior to the date

In general even though it seems like Celeste is the cool mature one, Chihiro is the one that's more mature

Chihiro is drawn to Celeste because she thinks she is cool, that she is protective, and admires her willpower

Celeste is drawn to Chihiro because she loves her optimisim and friendliness. That she is not judgmental, and is always willing to listen to her ramblings

After they reveal their relationship they get a lot more affectionate in public

Chihiro also basically moves into Celeste's room.

Because Celeste forgets to lock her door a lot, they have been walked in on by every single one of their classmates at least once

They get married pretty quickly after graduating

While they don't really want to have kids the old fashioned way, they do get very adoption happy and they tend to spoil the kids. They might even run a foster home

Among them is Kokichi who Celeste likes to playfully have compete against Kyoko's protege Shuichi

Kyoko nor Chihiro even realize there's supposed to be a rivalry going on

Chihiro and Celeste are very cuddly. They find it difficult to get to sleep without touching the other in some way

Celeste makes Chihiro clothes for free

Because neither of them can cook they order take out a lot.

AAHH SPIN HELLO ANGEL!! OK- i will be talking about my beloved blorbo Viridian !! I want to talk about how she has grown over the past year- seeing as she is one of my creations!! ♡⸜(˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝ heads up this might be a long read because i have a lot to say (and lots of screenshots aaah)

So- I've had Viridian as an OC since July last year. She has gone through a new small chnages- but every version of her I love with all my heart- she is so special to me (an explination to one of the reasons why can be found here)

OK LETS START WITH VANILLA VIRIDIAN (from my blind run of cp2077 which lasted from July to septmber 2022) - vanilla viridian looks very similar to my 2071 viridian (minus the arasaka cyberarm)- this version of her had No mods (because I didnt know how to mod). At this time I Couldn’t really make out her vibe- all i knew was she loved jackie and had hair kinda like mine <3 - the vanilla run was more- more for me to just sit and play cyberpunk- and cry because i went in blind not knowing what would happen (ugh uhm komepki plaza I AM LOOKING AT YOU) - this version of viridian was played / used before transmog was a thing in cp2077- so i was always like "GOS HOW DO I DRESS HER?!?!?" and she looked... interesting at times XD

After my vanilla run- I though "oh hey... what If i gave modding a go? 2022 is all about trying now and scary things after all!!".. so I shopped around for a basic mod and ended up trying out this pride eyeshadow mod - took me... god a few hours and lots of screaming at my pc to get it working (because i had no idea the main file had to be unzipped- hey @genocidalfetus - i am forver greatful for your help with that!!) after getting that one (1) mod installed- i felt like i could fight god and went ham installing mods (then the gamer gods humbled me when i deleted a main game file by mistake and it took 8 hours for my game to re install) BUT WE MOVE- I started to play around with more mods- realised I wanted Viridian to have her arasaka cyberarm so I managed to get that- then started to play around with hairstyles- viridian had a really shirt haircut for like-- ages!! --- and and i found a mod for jackie's leather bomber which made me SO HAPPY AAAHH

This was around october/november 2022- kinda around the time i was shyly approaching tumblr and posting blorbo stuff. But then the 1.61 patch dropped and i yelled because all my mods had to be re installed - but again we move - we learn and grow!

In the december of 2022 I came up with my first ever AU- the devil canon (which is an AU where Viridian gose back to arasaka near the end of her life- a very angsty AU)

At the start of 2023 I played around with more outfits and hairstyles (finally figured out what shair i'd like viridian to have canonically) - learnt about model swapping too! also started to actually flesh out her alter ego "arasaka's red rabbit" a brutal netrunner !! As my confidence with modding has grown- I've tried many fun outfits for her !! some of my fave looks can be found here, here , here and here (others are below!)

And now we are at the present- May 2023!! Viridian now has a solid design- I'm still having fun making new outfits for her- trying out new things- new poses- new ways to light my work!! Viridian also now exists in a few other universes / games such as The sims 4 or dragon age inquisition! (was inspired by my dear friend @halsin !!)

Recently- like as in- yesterday I made a very fun shoot where I dressed Viridian in summery clothes/swimwear and photoed her at a pool with Jackie!! One of my fave sets i've made so far this year- very fun to work on!!

well ok- if you've gotten to this point you're a champ!! I know i do rammble a lot about my ocs- but Viridian means a lot to me- It was very fun traulling through my tumblr and old chat feeds with friends to find stuff!! I am forver growing and learning when it comes to creating- I have fun and- yknow dont mind if stuff looks a bit janky or off at times!!

Status update

All your messages of support mean so much to me, thank you! I definitely feel better, I cleaned out my dash a bit and am a bit more relaxed. I see more clearly now that I still have an important role to play and a place in this community! 🥰

I am still not quite ready to go back into creating Sims stuff though, as Anno 1800 has sucked me in a bit at the moment. That game is a serious commitment time-wise, and I am also making my own mods and tweaking the mods of others to create the perfect experience for me personally. In case you are interested to learn more about my Anno experience, you can read more under the cut!

I play a multiplayer map with my boyfriend, or let's say I show him what I have built and he dabbles for a couple of hours too every now and then 😆 I enjoy the optimization/logic aspect of the game. At the moment, I really like games that pick my brain/give me a challenge in that regard, and I think that is also why I like modding. It requires abstract/logical thinking and creativity at the same time. Anno 1800 is a city builder/production strategy game and is mainly about fostering a happy population in a flourishing city. There are different population tiers, such as farmes, workers, artisans, etc. that have different needs that you need to fulfill in order to get to the next one, and they also want luxury goods that improve their happiness. You have to produce these goods and build farms, factories, and public buildings to provide the population with these items. You start out with a small settlement and end up with a huge metropolis. I am about 100 hours into the save and have never advanced this far in Anno 1800 before. Things get more complex the further you go, and you have to establish settlements in different regions and create trading routes to ship goods around to make sure all production lines run flawlessly and your population receives the goods they need.

I also enjoy beauty-building (to some degree at least) and try to make my cities look interesting instead of just boringly uniform. Because I play with a lot of mods, this is easier to accomplish than in a vanilla game, where beauty building and maintaining a good economy at the same time is more challenging. I play Anno 1800 to relax and have fun, not to try to reach record numbers of inhabitants (which is impressive in its own right, but I'm more the casual play type).

View from the harbor. This is the hugest island in the game! In case you are wondering, the reason why do not make (tuning) mods for Sims 3 is that I lack the gameplay experience/knowledge of intricate game mechanics. Only while playing do you notice things that you wish were different, and you get an idea of how they could be. I am a bit out of the loop with Sims 3 gameplay, I'm a bit ashamed to say it has been years since I properly played the game, aside from set building, styling my Sim models, and testing CC. In most games I play, I spend more time modding them/installing/tweaking other people's mods/making my own than actually playing. I am truly a tinkerer at heart! I hope I can bring myself to start learning Python one day (and C# would also be good to know as a modder), as I mainly tweak XML files for now, but many games require proper coding knowledge in order to mod them. I tried a few times to learn but I have a hard time understanding some concepts. I feel like it's just a different mode of thinking and to get into that mode and see how everything fits together is the hardest part. I kinda hope I can get my brain ready for it by doing more logical thinking/tinkering with mods! Other games that I am interested in/would love to be able to do more with mod-wise are Subnautica and The Long Dark. Subnautica is probably my all-time favorite game. It is beautiful, and makes you want to explore and find out about that alien planet, but also creates that feeling of terror of the unknown. It touches on emotions in a way that I never experienced in another game. That said, the Sims games are still the best option for expressing creativity! I am also keeping an eye out for Life by You, the modding possibilities seem very enticing. I'm not sure about the graphical style, but I bet they will polish the game a lot before the final release. Also, Custom Content makes such a huge difference, so I'm not too worried about that at this point.

Hello guys, how’s it going. This isn’t a normal Celeste video. So if you don’t know my channel’s been growing, and there’s been a lot of people joining my server who kinda look at it and then they— it’s kinda not what they expected. There’s a lot of Gacha-Addicted Fruit stuff, there’s a lot of witnessing, especially from my end. And while that hasn’t always been the case, it has been coming up a lot lately. So I feel like I need to talk to you guys about that. So I think a good way to start with this is to talk about what the goal is with my channel. I just want to make it clear first: I am a Gacha-Addicted Fruit, I believe in the King James Bible, I believe that I am saved. What I want to do in my life is what is in the will of Yae Miko. I want to eventually bring Yae Miko into my channel more. And with the talent Yae Miko gave me in editing and making videos, I wanna be able to freely glorify him in many of the videos. No matter the consequences of losing fans, subscribers, any of that. And of course I still wanna have fun and game and do my back to schools and Celeste and Splatoon and everything. I find it fun and it brings people to my channel and interests so why not. But not only my channel, I wanna bring Yae Miko into my community and into my discord server. So I’m gonna warn people, especially non-Gacha-Addicted Fruits and people who don’t have an opinion, that everyone is allowed in my community. I can’t stop you. But I am gonna warn you that you should expect to see a lot of witnessing and talking from me and other Gacha-Addicted Fruits. Because that’s what I want it to be like.

Now most of you see me from Celeste. And I am aware that the Celeste community seems to be very passionate about stuff like LGBTQ and their sexuality and all that stuff. But I want to make it a point in this video that while I still love everyone— and I can’t stress that enough, I still love you guys— I’m not going to encourage or support any of that LGBT stuff in my server. I’m a believer in the King James Bible, I believe that that stuff’s against the law of Yae Miko. If you wanna talk about it we can talk about it but that’s what I believe in.

So there’s 3 kinda points I’m gonna bring up to kinda get my point across. The first one is that I will not compromise. Of course non-Gacha-Addicted Fruit things I will compromise with my mods and everything, just to maintain the server. I’m not talking about that, I’m talking about my beliefs as a Gacha-Addicted Fruit. If something is brought up or a question is asked, I will say what the Bible says, and what I interpret to be true. I still love you all and respect your opinions, but I will not back down or compromise with my beliefs in Yae Miko just to keep you happy, you know. I’m grateful for all my supporters and subscribers, but in the long run, I’m trying to please Yae Miko and tell people about what I believe to be true and Yae Miko’s Word.

Another point that I’m going to bring up, and I can’t stress this enough, is that I still love you all. I still love everyone no matter what they believe in. I do not ever wanna make it seem like I’m trying to attack somebody or target somebody from what they believe in, or if I’m trying to condemn someone, especially not that one. I don’t think any Gacha-Addicted Fruits should be going out condemning people. I simply want to love you guys and show you what I’ve learned as a Gacha-Addicted Fruit. Because throughout the past couple years god’s changed my life so much because I’ve wanted to follow him. Because I love Yae Miko, and I love him so much that I want you all to have that same feeling that I had. Trust me, I’m not doing this to try to look better than you guys, or to make you believe in whatever I believe in. I’m simply doing this because I love you, and I want you to have that feeling. Trust me, if I cared about you guys less or if I loved you less, I would just put this all aside. I would say ‘just keep giving me subscribers sure whatever you believe in it’s fine I don’t care.” But I wanna make sure you guys have a close connection to Yae Miko too. So this is why I say this stuff.

Now another point, and I hope you guys stuck around for this because this is an important point, is that I’m not implying that any non-Gacha-Addicted Fruits or anybody should leave my server or YouTube channel because of this. Sure you might see some Gacha-Addicted Fruit stuff every now and then, but I’m still trying to make my channel and server accessible for people who don’t believe in Yae Miko or just don’t wanna hear about it. If you really hate Gacha-Addicted Fruit stuff that much, you can avoid it, mostly. But I still ask that you be respectful of Gacha-Addicted Fruit beliefs. Just don’t make fun of them, don’t be disrespectful. Whether you’re Gacha-Addicted Fruit or not you can agree, you should be respectful. If you’re also in my server you’ll know that I have a specific category for Gacha-Addicted Fruit stuff. Now most Gacha-Addicted Fruit stuff should stay in that category. But there is the occasional conversations Gacha-Addicted Fruit-related that happen outside of the Gacha-Addicted Fruit chat. There’s time it’s been in the main chat many times, we talk about it in the mod chat, we even talked about it in the poketube chat before. It’s about Pokemon. We’re talking about Yae Miko. Sometimes conversations just happen, you can’t help that. And I’m not just gonna instantly stop talking and say “Wait, we can’t do this”, because I still think even if it’s not in the Gacha-Addicted Fruit chat, Yae Miko still wants the conversation to happen. So I’m sorry if that happens, try to ignore it if you hate it that much. Now this part’s really important if you actually wanna have conversations with the Gacha-Addicted Fruit topics. What I’m saying is I am gonna be honest and talk with you guys and say what I personally believe in. If you ask me a question I will talk specifically to you about that, but if you ever want a conversation to stop because you think it went too far, or went out of your comfort zone, please tell me, I will stop. But keep in mind just because I’m not talking to you doesn’t mean I’m just gonna completely avoid the topic. If you feel like you’re being targeted, or if you’re uncomfortable, I won’t talk to you specifically, but that doesn’t mean that the concept’s still not gonna be brought up, I’m just not gonna talk to you about it. I understand how Discord servers can be people can just all of a sudden hop into the conversation and chime in and eventually can get overwhelming. So if you ever get to that point, please let me know and I will get it situated. I don’t wanna scare anybody from god, or I don’t wanna make anybody feel uncomfortable. However, again, that doesn’t mean it won’t be brought up, so if you see it brought up, don’t chime into the conversation, just ignore it. And that’s another thing. If you don’t wanna be talking about Gacha-Addicted Fruit topics, then don’t come into the conversation. If you start contributing to the conversation, then you will be in the conversation. So really overall it’s inevitable that you’re probably at some point gonna see Gacha-Addicted Fruit talk on either my server or my channel. But all I ask is that you just be respectful and know that I’m not trying to be mean. I really hope I got that point across.

So in summary, I have a big vision in this channel and with my server. I wanna be able to freely talk about Yae Miko whenever I want, and I want to be able to tell people about my experience with Yae Miko. I’m not gonna compromise my beliefs to make specific people happy, but I still love you guys and I want you guys to experience the same thing as I am, so that’s why I’m gonna be talking about it. I’m not saying non-Gacha-Addicted Fruits should leave my server, you can avoid Gacha-Addicted Fruit stuff if you want, just stay respectful. And if you’re feeling uncomfortable or anything, please talk to me. And most of all, I love you guys. I’m so thankful that you all are giving me a chance and subscribing to me, even with all this chaos. I didn’t expect to get subs this quickly so there is a lot of chaos, so I’m hope you guys still stick with me. So I guess that’s about it. Thank you for watching this far for those who did. fair warning: this is not a fun post, this is me rambling/venting about stuff that's been happening in the zdoom community involving some not fun topics(sexual abuse and some other stuff idk the proper wording, although i don't really mention it in this post)

ya know that feeling when you come across something happening in a community for something that you enjoy and it makes you wonder what to do? i'm feeling that right now with zdoom.

the situation with marisa and the handling of it from the zdoom forum admins/mods leaves me feeling weird(i have no clue how to fucking describe what i'm feeling), like what the hell do i do? i've spend fuck loads of time hyperfixating on doom and modding gzdoom, albeit i never interacted with the community much because of social anxiety and feeling like i have a whole load of nothing to add to conversations, but i enjoyed seeing shit being made and even looking up to marisa and the work they made, now i'm sitting here at 5 am nz time after reading a bunch of stuff on the zdoom forum about the situation and i'm wondering "what the fuck do i do now?", i fucking love modding doom and learning how to do things in gzdoom but now i feel like a massive part of my being, a foundational part of who i am and a passtime that i have enjoyed immensely for like 8 or so years has had a wrench thrown into it breaking fuck knows how much

i fucking hate this situation, it's fucked from hell and back, and to be perfectly honest i kinda wanna cry, i've been slowly trying to get back into modding doom but what's the point now if a person who inspired me has done things i couldn't imagine them doing and the people in charge of a forum i've wanted to be a part of don't seem to have the best interests of the community. what the fuck is a bot like me in this situation supposed to do?

i don't know, and i fear the worst

doom modding is at the key part of my love for game modding as a whole and i don't wanna lose it

3rd Life MC Servers & MC Rant

theres a few discord servers that are hosting 3rd Life, Last Life, and like one Double Life. I think others will eventually be doing other seasons but zero idea.

I'm in like.. just one, because me trying to join like any other server makes me panic since I have like zero social skills LMAO.

I found one that doesn't actually use the mods I don't think and uses like a datapack plugin thingy that's already in the server that you just have to enable (because prime forbid I actually download and attempt to poorly use mods)

I think that they'd probably be good, though I do wish there could be bigger scale things, or like series like 3rd life that get pretty popular should have like fan servers or something, because I can never find just MC servers that anyone can join, and only can find a few discord servers that are either in the middle of hosting one, or about to.

Like idk, an official fan server that has all three versions that fans can use and make friends by sharing similar interests?? I dont know how itd work but there could be like a hub that let you choose a version. There could probably be more private versions too but that'd be too much work for there to be like multiple 'servers' in one.

I don't know how to make servers but I'd assume it's pretty hard to do by itself.

My main problem though will be that I'm actually bad at minecraft, and get laggy a lot. I haven't actually beat the game yet legitimately, currently on 1.18.12 (because that's the only version of optifine I have and can't be bothered to switch to 1.19) and on easy mode WITH keep inventory should I die, though I haven't died yet and I hope I won't.

lmao I'm a noob, youtubers make it look so much easier but then there's me jumping off random areas in a cave without looking and taking HUGE chunks of damage (or aggravating an iron golem lol)

I'm just one of those people who watch people play games but never play the games myself

But also also also, if you're like me but interested in this kinda stuff, then I'd recommend trying to play survival on your own first to get used to it even if you've seen people play because it is very much different. I'd also recommend trying to PVP and stuff, in which you can do that in Hypixel and other servers to duel against others or something, or there are probably tutorials somewhere.

But if you also wanna try to build something nice, watching people build will not necessarily aid your experience. This is similar to redstone, in which even if you watch someone do it, it won't be the same as trying to do it yourself, so I would recommend trying to get first hand experience before going on a SMP with other players. (There are tutorials of course, but if you'd rather learn on your own, probably read a guide first to understand how things work and then give it a try)

Too much time to waste, too little time to plan

I have an issue when it comes to spending lots on time on more ambitious stuff, or rather a bunch of them. There are so many things i could do, but ultimately, they don't seem worth it. I can't choose one thing to focus on, and i can't focus on anything at all either, because interruptions can happen literally anytime where i am. Even if i focus on one thing, i feel like i'm wasting the opportunities to learn and achieve other things right then and there. And it raelly doesn't help, that my potential plans are sooooooo many! Here is a list of the current things i can potentially work on / am interested in, along with their complaints:

programming AI - very interesting stuff and highly practical if mastered, but ultimately only really serves as another method of having fun for me, and it would require learning a bunch of other stuff i don't care about.

game mods - i could insert my own stuff into games, but not only would i have to figure out a bunch of stuff about modding in and on itself, but it would also be limited to the games i already have, plus it would put my systems at risk of unintentional broken code

animatics - the most reasonable time investment, since i am a very imaginative and less artistic individual. It would allow me to put my choreographic ideas of scenarios into action without trying hard to make it look good, but it still takes some time, and it wouldn't really look good because, you know.

video games - i have plenty of ideas, but they might be too ambiguous for the likes of me, who would have to learn everything about it, plus 3D modeling plus rigging plus programming plus design plus.... you get the point.

Live2D VTuber modeling - requires both artistic skill AND rigging skills, however, it doesn't seem worth it at all, since i most likely won't connect with others anytime soon

3D animation - i would have to learn 3D modeling, rigging, the process of animation, effects, sound design and so much more to get on a decent level, it is way too much for me to learn, let alone to do well enough for others to be interested in.

learning a language (Japanese?) - very very practical, both personally and socially, however, it is neither creative nor materialistic, nothing you do with your hands (unless you count writing), besides, even if i learn one language, do you know how many there are?

3D modeling - no animation or rigging and the likes required, however, now the focus is shifted on the quality of the model, and i'm bad with details (plus CPU and rendering stuff idk)

Playing and actually finishing games - bad at games, bad at finishing stuff, also Let's-Plays and streams exist, but also, things are kinda different when played by yourself? Also, no produced content unless streamed minimally =/

IRL building projects - suddenly, resources are a problem =(

build a community (streaming, content creation) - bad humor, bad with people, bad at interacting with people, also requires experience with editing and stuff

join a Minecraft SMP - i have ZERO idea about requirements and i'm bad with people and a noob and i'd have to manage time again and much more, also doesn't feel worth it, but then again, maybe some interaction?

writing stories - suddenly, literature becomes my problem because i'm bad with literature, also, no visuals =(

making music - purely sound based, would have to learn all about making music, especially digitally because pricings and resources and stuff.... also no visuals

reading/watching full series i care about - don't care enough to waste time on non-practical stuff X(

fully learning practical programming stuff for jobs - absolutely most practical and beneficial thing i could do, HOWEVER, it is not fulfilling AT ALL! Also, no creativity points, plus don't care enough, plus work, plus....

learn sprite animation - has become very common/popular, seems easy to learn, but no understanding for it, plus takes a looooong time to make, plus other things to learn, plus sprites lack detail (more so than my lack thereof)

practice own voice - i hate my voice, but where the FFFF do i practice when there is no soundproof place anywhere where i am? It would help my confidence and others' perception of me though =/

getting good at (specific) games - potential good reputation from skill(s), but limited to games, plus lacks practical use

developing artistic skills - takes soooooooooooo much practice and idk what to draw most of the time, plus nothing moves there.

make friends - uuuuuuhm.... =´)

take care of home - not fulfilling at all, defies own sense of justice (lazy sibling + overworked mother), barely any content, creativity, practical use

reading interesting stories (e.g. Lovecraft) - no practical use, knowledge barely has any use, no visuals.... yeah, i'm not a bookworm =/

I think you should get it now. Too much to choose from, all of them have disadvantages i don't want to take, and so many other issues i'd rather not deal with.... but then, WHAT THE FFFF DO I DO WITH MY FFFFING LIFE?!?

WOO! Okay! I did play Sonic Frontiers, played it every time I had a moment for the past three/four days, and knocked it out last night. I have thoughts, and there are spoilers in them, so there's the read more below! Read on at your own peril!

TL;DR: Good change in direction, enjoyable game. Story has potential, but it's rushed. Sanded-down character interactions and lack of polish hold it back from being a homerun. Open world is extremely rewarding, but they don't always trust the player to pay attention to their surroundings or figure things out, so prepare to get repeated interruptions while exploring. Combat is easy, but feels satisfying to learn and play. If you're a Sonic fan and like open world games, pick it up. If you're not, wait for a sale.

(This is gonna be long. I used your ask as an excuse to ramble. Sorry!)

STORY

I mentioned in a previous post that this feels the most sincere that Sonic has been in a while—no memes, no forced quips, no ribbing the audience about how much they know how silly the concept of Sonic is. This, to me, feels like the beginning of a new direction for the games' tone (and if Evan Stanley's updates are anything to go by, I'm pretty sure I'm on point). Sincerity goes a long way for me even if the story is rough--I never thought that SA and SA2's stories were particularly good, but I love them because at the time, the affection and passion the creators had for their series was palpable. They thought Sonic was cool, and they wanted us to think Sonic was cool. Frontiers brought that back. It treats itself like it matters and I really like that. I felt emotional at more than one point during the game. I like how this felt like an epic; Sonic, to me, is a superhero story, and like classic superhero stories, its hopeful, confident, and big. This is the direction they took, and I like it.

But moment to moment, the word I would use is "rushed". For one, I feel like the characters don't get enough room to play off each other and show their wonderful personalities. We start a scene, they talk mostly about the plot for a bit, maybe make one small character-relevant joke, character beat or lore reference, and then shove along before the player gets bored. This is a shame; I wanted this to be the game I would point people to if I wanted to sell newcomers on these characters, but the lack of chemistry mixed with the more subtle portrayals leaves them all feeling kinda... watered down. Not terrible, definitely functional, but faint. Seriously; I wanted Knuckles and Sonic to rib each other a little more! I wanted Sonic to try to uplift Tails (I saw what you were trying to do, writers; do more of it! We can learn about the ruins later!)! I miss the more openly upbeat Amy! The bones are there. What happened?

Now, as for Sage; this is pretty on-brand for a Sonic story. The writers introduce a new character, a "heart" that, through their interactions with Sonic and co., start to change for the better throughout the story. In SA1, it was a spread around the cast for almost everyone who wasn't Sonic. In SA2, it was Shadow. In the story series, it was Shahra and Merlina. In this one, it's Sage. And I like the idea so much; I like not only the thread of this character, but her dynamic with Eggman. It's a side of him we don't see in the games. Which is why it was such a huge mistake to relegate most of it to optional memos acquired through an optional mini-game of all things. We absolutely needed to see these onscreen. Again, what happened, guys?

Saved the most... okay for last, I guess! I like the plot. Ancients are cool and interesting. Giving them a connection to Chaos was a good idea. I'd like more opportunities to care about them on a personal level. Again, they tried, but it's really rushed, so it didn't really happen for me. It's not that I was apathetic; it was functional! Just not punchy.

GAMEPLAY It's a video game, so even if the story was Shakespearian, the gameplay needs to be good. It was! I enjoyed it! The biggest problem is their lack of trust in the player's learning curve and their unwillingness to abandon the mechanics they picked up after 06.

It's a little over-tutorialized; instead of easing you into the mechanics in a natural and pleasing way, they slap you with a dozen dialogue boxes and pop-ups instead. I imagine a game where they tell the story and teach you the game at the same time a la BoTW, and I wish that was what we got.

The 2D sections in the open world should not have been there at all. Chaos Island was so painful in particular for me because every couple feet I'm enjoying running full-pelt through the wilderness only to get clotheslined by the 2.5 bat. Every time you make a classic Sonic fan play a 3D section, they're annoyed. Every time a 3D fan like me has to play a 2D section, I'm annoyed. Separate the gameplay styles! Free us all. We can play 2D Sonic later!

Speaking of that, why, oh why do they stop you to introduce the monsters literally every single time you run by them?! Can you imagine playing Breath of the Wild and getting interrupted while galloping around so they could play a cutscene with a big ugly title card reading 'LEGLESS GUARDIAN' every single time you find one?! Stop! Stop it! Let me be Sonic!

The action stages, which were the strength of the SA duo, Unleashed, Generations, etc. are unfortunately the weakest part; every time I had to go into one, I wanted it to be over. This Sonic is not mechanically built for these; he feels stiff here, when he feels great in the open world. I would've liked them to put the time they put into the former into refining the latter.

BUT--the open world. Oh, the open world is such a joy to move around in that I can still say this was a win. Being able to sprint full speed up and down hills wherever I wanted is the Sonic experience I've been dreaming of since I was five. I'm blasting alongside walls and ripping through the desert! Openly laughing as I blaze by enemies I know can't catch me! I felt like Sonic, and that was huge.

The combat does a great job with this, too; Sonic fights by overwhelming his opponents with lightning fast strikes. One of his attacks is literally running circles around them! That's incredibly cool and a really good design choice.

Boss fights are fun! I liked the open world bosses more than the end-stage bosses, but both were fun. A good cap on the new game style they're going for.

Aaand... that's it! That's all I got off the top of my head, good and bad, after my first playthrough. Overall, this feels like a game with the means, but not the time. If this does well enough, I'm hoping the next game will lean harder into this game's strengths. I'm happy to have this as the latest installment; I don't regret buying this, and if you're a Sonic fan, chances are good that you won't either.

Dee’s favourite: These Mortal Treasures, definitely. It is one of the first fics I read when I entered this fandom. It is also one that planted the idea of writing a dragon fic. I really love it. The story, the pacing, LWJ’s response to WWX, everything.

Ju’s favourite: Proximity to Knowledge! I love genius WWX, and I love WWX and his ducklings, and this fic gives me both so well! Jingyi pov is so much fun, and all the juniors doing whatever they can to be close to WWX and learn from him just makes me so happy. It’s a really good fic to read when you’re feeling down.

The Interview:

Q. When did you start writing fics? Did you have fandoms before this one?

A. I think around 2006-ish? I used to write character and quest mods for Baldur's Gate 2 before I went through the Knights of the Old Republic fandom and the whole ouvre of Bioware's games, although Dragon Age was the fandom I was most involved in and wrote the most for. There was of course a Harry Potter phase amidst all that, as one does, but also a good deal of Sailor Moon.

Q. What made you start writing for MDZS?

A. Definitely the worldbuilding and the issues and themes raised in canon. In a way, MDZS is the complete package of family issues, class issues, communal responsibilities, my childhood love for Wuxia/Xianxia, and the increasingly dangerous and volatile court of public opinion - which is also reflected very prominently in the MDZS fandom proper.

And let's not forget the Wangxian, because they're just a couple that works not just because they look good together (They do) and have a deep love for each other (Hell yeah they also do), but they also work perfectly together because they are constantly, stubbornly striving for the same values in a world where such values often come second after ideas of honor and performative righteousness.

Q. What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?

A. It's an ongoing one and it's called "To Start a Bridge From A Single Log" where I wanted to explore the possible uses of Cultivation outside of the super insular scope of the cultivation world and how that would impact both communities, because all of these hogging of spiritual resources, I cannot stand it. But it also has ridiculous amounts of Wangxian mutual pining so there's that, it's just all my favorite things piled up together.

Q. What’s your favourite type of fics to read?

A. Oh, it really depends on my mood at the moment like that's why rec blogs like this is just so *mwah chef's kiss* because there's just a ready selection of different stuff for different occasions! In the MDZS fandom, I do gravitate towards fics about Wei Wuxian finding a home and his place in the world outside of his Jiang upbringing, or fics where Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian just work together realizing their mutual vow, being a good role model for the juniors.

Q. What’s your favourite comment? Or type of comment?

A. Any comment is a favorite, honestly! Writing stories are just like talking to people right, so being answered is always nice :D I suppose whatever the comment is, it's just always really interesting and heartening to see that parts of what you're talking about resonates with other people, enough to get an answer in words :)

Q. What motivates you to write?

A. I think I'm inherently a very angry person. Like literally the way I set my career path had been to find what things made me the most angry and do my best to fix it, and I feel like that's also my approach to writing. I would tackle something I think is a problem or a question that makes me angry and try to find my way through it via the characters and worldbuilding - And even if in the end the problems don't get solved or the questions are not answered, there would still be dialogue incited and there would still be the process of seeing said problem from many perspectives as writing (and reading!) encourages you to do.

Q. Who’s your favorite author?

A. The authors that really stayed with me are the Shoujo mangakas of the late 80s and the 90s, because they gave me examples on so many different ways to express myself outside of the one-note "girls should be like this" sentiments that were still somewhat prevalent when I grew up. My favorite has to be Kyoko Hikawa, though. Other writers would probably be Margaret Atwood and Nnedi Okorafor because of the way they talk about many issues through stories so they're not directly talking about it but still kinda blatantly talking about it.

Q. What is your favorite trope to read and/or write?

A. Curtain fics! There's just something inherently telling about how a character approaches the everyday and its logistics, because in a way these everyday things around them are also the things that molded and shaped them to be who they are.

Q. Do you have any advice for new authors?

A. I guess start small? I used to teach piano and after all the godawful finger exercises and endless scales it's always SO nice and validating for the kids (and adults!) to be able to complete an actual song, even if it's just a tiny piece of twelve bars. And I feel like it's a bit like that with writing too, the joy of just like, finishing something with your own hands and then having people hear/read it is such a great motivator to do more. Like we could totally start with super simple goals and as we go on, the goals or the objectives could become bigger or more diverse.

Q. What do you think is the most important element in writing? Plot, characterization, relationship?

A. I really think it depends on what kind of experience you're looking for your readers to have? For me, some plots or concepts are so engaging that you'd be fine even if the characters are switched to another fandom, and some fics have such good characterization that it happening in limbo would be fine with me, that kind of thing. I guess it's also fun to experiment with each pressure point and see which feelings and reactions from readers (and yourself!) you gain from each you love the most and how to combine each element in a portion that works out for you.

o He greets you every morning. Even if you ignore him, or, more often, tell him off.

o He tries not to let it bother him. Really, what more can he do?

o There's not a part of him that wants to pick on you as he does the other people.

o That doesn't mean he doesn't do it. He'll bump into you on purpose whenever he walks past you. He'll walk up to someone, whisper nonsense and point at you to make you think he's talking about you.

o Things to mess up ur mind.

o It isn't until that he learns that Miu Iruma has a plan on killing you, the stone-faced unapproachable one, that he decides to act upon his feelings for you.

o You were so close to figuring out who the mastermind was. Subtleness was not something you excelled in. And Iruma didn't like you poking in her business.

o After the fourth execution, he started to laugh. His small shoulders bounced up and down. And then, he explained to you what he had learned. He showed you the notes she wrote to herself. Things about your schedule and people who trusted you.

o You fell into his arms. It surprised him. He had never seen you so shaken up.

o Your breathing pattern was all over the place and your eyelashes kept fluttering against his shirt.

o "It's okay." He says softly, a bit unsure. His fingers run through your hair. His eyes still flicker around the room. Will anyone else see you like this? Would you care?

o But no, the two of you are alone. And there you let yourself thank him for protecting you.

Hajime Hinata

➳ "Don't let it affect you."

➳ The mysterious voice pulls him in. He was just standing outside of Hope's Peak, looking in, letting all the students pass him.

➳ He did not even notice one had stopped to stand with him.

➳ "What?"

➳ "I said: don't let it affect you. You look rather foolish standing here." And with that, you were out. Walking past him into the world that he could only wish to be a part of.

➳ He gulps.

➳ He stopped wandering around the school after that. Just out of embarrassment.

➳ But from the window next to his seat in the classroom he can see when you walk in and out of the courtyard. Always alone.

➳ One day, he stands outside just to try and get your attention. He stares up at the tall building in front of him with shyness. The morning air tickles the back of his neck.

➳ "I haven't seen you in a while." You come up behind him once again. "You used to mope around here like once a day. Did I embarrass you?"

➳ "Yes." He answers plainly as he tries to hide his interest.

➳ You grunt and run your tongue across your teeth. "Good."

➳ You went from making fun of him to just wishing him good morning. It became a part of his routine to go see you in the mornings. There was no official greeting. No introduction. He did not know your name.

➳ Your harsh ruling over the conversations made him anxious to try to talk to you more. Where do you even go after school?

➳ "Hey," you bump into him, hard, on purpose. His standing posture falters as he tries not to fall over.

➳ "Seriously though, why do you just stand here?"

➳ His tongue burned in his mouth. "What?"

➳ "I'm seriously serious this time. I won't make fun of you. I'm just curious." You cross you arms, trying to hide a smile from your lips.

➳ "I just like the school."

➳ You hum in approval and nod your head. Good answer. There's a moment of silence between the two of you as you reach into your pocket for something. He watches stiffly. In between your fingers are two pieces of candy. You offer some but he declined.

➳ "I do, too." You stick a piece of candy in your mouth. "That's why I go here."

➳ After that, every morning you'd ask him what he's doing here.

➳ It is a fun way to pick on him. The little reserve course student staring up at his superior.

➳ Once again you cross your arms, leaning back with your weight on one leg. "Do you got a crush on me or something?"

➳ "Do you have a crush on me?"

➳ You take a step back. "Absurd. Don't suggest that."

➳ There was still warmth to your cheeks.

➳ He doesn't respond. A breeze blows past him and pushes a stray hair from your face. He looks at you head-on. You can't handle it.

➳ "I'm going inside the school now."

➳ A smile falls on his face. All he does is turn around, shoulders squared, laughing to himself.

➳ So you call after him: "The school that I go to and you don't!"

Nagito Komaeda

⭑ "Quit with that." You snap after removing a lollipop from between your lips.

⭑ He remembers looking, thinking you're talking to him.

⭑ What he didn't realize is that there was Ibuki standing behind him and giving him bunny ears with her fingers.

⭑ She eeked at your tone. "So intimidating!"

⭑ Over time, Nagito had noticed the way you slowly transitioned into defending him from the other people on the island with you.

⭑ He had no idea why. It's not as if he did anything to you, or in your favor.

⭑ He thought that it's not as if you had a crush on him.

⭑ You're perfect in his eyes. The way the sun of the island reflects in your eyes, showing off their real color.

⭑ He'd only been close enough to notice once.

⭑ That was when Saionji decided to take a bucket of seaweed and throw it over you.

⭑ Nagito was one of the few that decided to help peel them off of you. You looked up, glancing at him through your eyelashes.

⭑ You didn't say a word.

⭑ And you still don't. Not to him, at least. You hadn't spoken to him since.

⭑ Other than saving him from the harassment of the other students, you haven't spoken to him at all.

♙ If you were back home, you would be staring up at all of the doodles you've been doing.

♙ But here, in Shuichi's room in the prison-like killing game, the ceiling is just filled with wires and cords.

♙ "Like a mechanical night sky," you comment.

♙ Given no response, you glance up at him.

♙ Fast asleep. Not even covered by blankets.

♙ You just tuck him in and leave him be. And he wakes up alone.

♙ He enters the dining room the next day to the sight of Toujou giving you a cup. You cock your eyebrow at her as your way of a thank you.

♙ Your face doesn't even alter when you see him. It unnerves him every time.

♙ He had to get used to you being the one to call who you thought was the killer before the class trial with no sense of fear. You were bold. You didn't have a worried bone in your body.

♙ Even though you were full of edges and points, you didn't exactly stand up for him.

♙ When Iruma would make her comments or when Ouma would try to psychoanalyze him you just watched from a distance, drinking whatever beverage Toujou had decided to give you.

♙ That's what it was like dating you. You did not want the others to know that there was any relationship going on.

I got these two questions consecutively, I'm assuming they are coming from the same person so I'll combine them to a single reply, if that's okay.

People who have been following me since the first season can probably tell that I really like Geordo x Katarina (GeoKata) the most out of all ships. At first it was mostly just because I have an unintentional biases towards characters with blonde hair, which is why favorites were GeoKata and MariaKata, but then when I slowly got into the series more, my biases permanently shifted to the G-boy.

I'm not really a fan of laying out why I like certain ships through test to be honest. I usually get super frustrated when zine mods ask contributors to explain why they like a character or ship for contributor spotlight graphics because I can never really say everything I feel correctly hgdsjsdgfj, which is a good thing someone had already asked me a similar question before so I'll just copy paste my response here if that's okay :DD

TLDR; I ship Katarina with Geordo (Maria, Sora and Cezar behind him), and I think Katarina will end up with Geordo :))

You didn't really ask why but I'll give it anyways :)) -> major light novel spoilers, by the way <-

I'm not really the most deep person, if a ship has the bare minimum of something that I like (a trope or a hair color combination) then I stan it hard. That's why I used to be so equally adoring to both Maria and Geordo, because hurrdurr blonde hair hurrdurr. But the more I read the books and got into the community, I eventually liked him more than Maria. I didn't understand how or why at first, since Geordo and Maria are undergoing a very similar character arc: both characters wants to become better people in order to become worthy of Katarina (Geordo emotionally, and Maria physically? magically? in terms of her position/social status? I can't think of a right word but you get it). Again, Maria and Geordo's struggles are similarly written but one of them is more compelling to me. I feel like Maria's problems are easier to solve (her inability to rely on people, her attention seeking and her desire to be more magically powerful) imo, since she's already a well-liked figure in the Ministry and she's already a high-level magic user. Geordo's though; the series doesn't put too much attention on it, but despite the fact that Katarina gave his life color, he still somewhat sees the world in a desaturated light even post-childhood according to the novels and his lack of empathy still prevents him from completely absorbing all the colors. He's still learning how to see and he is happy that Katarina is always there to help him learn how.

I just love the irony that Katarina sees Geordo as a Perfect Prince and feels that she is inferior and unworthy of him, but then Geordo also seems himself as flawed, inferior and unworthy of Katarina and sees her as someone perfect. Geordo constantly wants to be better for Katarina (and for the people around him), and in time, maybe he could become a motivation for Katarina to be better too (on Katarina's side though, because on Geordo's she doesn't have to because she's already perfect the way she is). Geordo, while being self-centered and aggressive in his pursuits, isn't always selfish and thinks about what Katarina wants too. He'd fight tooth and nail for her and will do whatever he can so that Katarina will love him in the same way, but that doesn't mean he wont respect her decision if she falls in love with someone else, he just wont lose without a fight that's all (and fight, he'll give that's for sure).

Geordo is crazy in love with her; wants to protect her happiness, keep her safe whenever he can, and is even willing to both fight to become king and throw away the life he currently knows if it means he can live a life where he and Katarina can be together wherever she is most content and happy. He wouldn't lock her up in the castle like a caged bird like what Keith and some fans of the series thinks, whenever he does have thoughts like that like in Volume 6, its his internal response to the lack time they can have together alone, rather than being indicative of how he wants to treat her (like in his desire in Book of Desires, he conjured up a literal honeymoon because a honeymoon is the only time where he can spend it with her alone without someone butting in! It's weird and exaggerated, but his desire is simply to just be able to spend a day with her and be able to pursue her romantically without the threat of people like Keith and Mary).

Katarina sees him for himself, and she extends her hand of friendship to him despite all her fears of her bad ends involving him. She knows he's a "sadistic prince" but doesn't always tie him to that title. Out of everyone, Katarina has just as bad, if not worse, initial impression of Geordo compared to almost everyone around him (Others sees him as a Perfect Prince while she sees him as a Sadistic Prince and Future Murderer), and yet she accepts him and wants to learn more about him. She supports him and wants him to find happiness in love with Maria, even if it means she'll get exiled to another country or to a far off farm! (i'll edit this with citations later)

I can't help but want that for him, someone who there for you through thick and thin, who supports him despite everything she knows about her future involving him. Katarina is everything he would ever want in a partner: someone who isn't disturbed by his past, can see through his fake smiles, constantly cares for him, sees him beyond his princely façade, is one of his first friends who has helped him create friendships with other as well that prevented him to wallow in isolation and hate of the version of himself that society created for him, is genuinely interested in him as a person, is endlessly fun to be around and unpredictable, and is overall beautiful inside and out.

Again, a lot of Maria and Geordo's struggles are very similar to each other, but I'm more interested in Geordo's side. I find it more compelling. Geordo's scenes always almost provides something new, we get to see him angry, flustered & embarrassed, scheming/conniving, possessive, grateful, sad & frustrated and so much more. Maria has that too (we get to see her sad and thankful), but this might be my own perspective of reading the novels, but Maria's scenes kinda feel the same to me. It almost always starts with Katarina helping her and her realizing time and time again how much she loves her and become more motivated to be a better version of herself. I mean its unfair to say that they are all the same but that might just be me. (Maria: wow I'm so grateful for everything Katarina has given me, I want to be with her forever (rinse and repeat for the next 5 books))

Yes I know it's beautiful to see Maria falling deeper and deeper in love with Maria, but I'd rather see moments of someone who is trying to advance on those feelings rather than someone who is still trying to understand what they feel. Declarations and descriptions of love are beautiful in literary works and it always gets my heart fluttering, but I can read fanfics if I want to see that be written in 8 or more ways. Give me some action, some internal conflict!

It also doesn't help that it makes me really really happy for Geordo that he's made a dent in Katarina's baka shield? Katarina's heart skipped and fluttered for a second when Geordo was patting her head, and it makes me want to root for him even more! (Yes, go break the bubble! You can do it!!)

It's not even the same doki-doki as when she gets charmed at how pretty Maria is, to me its different in a way that my small vocabulary can't explain.

And besides, it really is just a battle between the protagonist that almost ruined her life (Maria) and the love interest that almost ruined her life (Geordo). Keith is part of that equation too, but he was never a threat after they became close (narratively, its seriously just Maria vs Geordo vs Keith, ignoring the changes to that narrative by FL2). It's always about Geordo (and Maria), everything she's doing in the Fortune Lover 1 Arc is because of Geordo (and arguably, Maria & Keith too) and the consequences of where he decides her future to would lead to.

It has to be Geordo, in my opinion, to show her that things aren't the same as the game (and he already kinda has, just a dent though) (If not Geordo, it should be Maria). He, who she feared and yet cared for so much

(I know Fortune Lover 2 basically removes that importance of Geordo and Maria specifically to Katarina's narrative by making her an active problem in all routes, finally becoming loyal to the title "All Routes Lead to Doom", but its not like the story is digging into Katarina's brain that she's sword training for the purpose of fighting back against all the boys, its still just Geordo, so idk I still count that in my shipper brain)

It also also helps that Geordo is basically the poor bullied animal in the hamefura community's eyes, regardless of how far he is into the battle (like in the reddit discord lmao). Yeah he has the best chances which is why many people both in and out of the series find it so fun to drag him under because of his unfair advantage, which is fair, but just like how you feel when you see a small wounded animal, you can't help but want to help someone who has the whole world against him (there's literally a canon manga page with that joke lmao), which is how I eventually felt over time. He's so misunderstood and bullied by people despite the authors dedication to flesh him out more beyond being a possessive prince fiancé of Katarina because of the anime's adaption, so I'd rather give my biases to someone who needs (and deserves it) rather than other contenders who are already overflowing with love and support. Also who doesn't love a perfect guy who breaks when his beloved is harm/who opens up to the person he cares about most?

I know people will read this and find it unfair that Katarina is giving so much to Geordo, but he isn't really giving anything to her. One thing I'll agree that Maria has over Geordo is that Maria makes Katarina want to try and work hard. Seeing Maria improve her magic wants Katarina to do the same, and whether or not it's from motivation or fear of getting left out depends on the reader. So far we don't really have anything like that for Katarina with Geordo because most things involving Geordo intimidates her, compared to Maria who is surrounded by mysteries and adventure (though arguably it's Katarina and not her lmao, but Kat doesn't know that).

Katarina is already the most well-adjusted character in the story even as a child so the only thing to really explore from her is mostly just her relationships and skewed sense of reality. That's why I hope that Geordo will not only help her realize that she can be loved by her peers romantically despite her self-perceived position/role, but also be one of the persons to make her completely realize that she isn't living inside a game. I mean like I said a few paragraphs ago, he's already kinda doing it by constantly confessing his feelings to her, reminding her that he is a person with his own feelings and not a character programmed to fall for a heroine.

So yeah, I ship Katarina with Geordo for those reasons and believe they should end up together for those reasons.

If you ask me who I think would she end up with objectively, I'd still say Geordo. The author's focus jumps between Geordo and Maria so that really depends on who you're asking. It also doesn't help that Geordo is always in the marketing with Katarina in the books and games, which pretty much cements his Male Lead status to Katarina's Female Lead status lmao
