#uggghhhhhhhhhhhh#this is the first time i think in my whole life that ive lived alone#had a job that didnt make me wear out my social battery#or compromise my physical health#and have been financially stable enough to afford necessities without worrying#which is all amazing#and means that ive actually had the opportunity to decide hey#im fucking dying#everything has been insane and shitty and traumatic for months#so im going to just. do nothing. until i can stand to even think about interacting with people or doing basic household tasks without#curling into a ball#and it took a lot longer than i thought it would#its been i think....5 weeks?#of leaving the house only when i have to for groceries and only doing the absolute bare minimum to keep my living area functional#going back to coping with headphones on when i go outside like i used to and kind of forget why i stopped doing it#and in general just. spending my time rewatching my old favourite series and shows and manga and books#i can count on one hand the number of times ive socialized with a friend outside my house#and holy fuck i needed this#i needed this years ago i think#it took 5 weeks before i could even think about willingly being out in public with strangers and not doing everything i can to avoid it#my house is a mess and i havent unpacked and my yard is overgrown#but im finally starting to look at tasks around the house without a crippling sense of dread anymore#and can sometimes just. do em. without having to suppress massive anxiety and exhaustion and stress and burnout to get through it#i was kinda relying on blind faith that i was doing the right thing in giving myself permission to just not keep up on my life#and that it wouldnt just spiral into depression lol#and its actually paying off#thank fuck#its probably 'recovering from years of burnout' in technical terms but yknow what#i can now make myself food without waiting till im literally having hunger pangs or until i nearly lose my balance walking the dog#and cleaned up a bit! and hung up some of my wall shelves!

Lost Tomb Reboot aka Reunion: The Sound of Providence Season 2
I swear I wasn’t actually planning to write this thing, instead just opting for random picture spams of the season, starting with every time this show got Zhu Yilong’s Wu Xie wet, because that was a trend I had not expected and kind of lived for.
All that will still happen eventually, but here’s also my five cents on the season, because it is very very important for you to know just how worthy of love it is.
You see, Season 1 was silly and fun, and definitely, undeniably, enjoyable.
Then Season 2 swooped in, and completely won my heart. I cannot even express how much I adored it. Everything about this show is extremely extra in the best possible way; it is likely to have been the most charmingly over the top thing I have ever seen.
Tumblr media
(Vague spoilers for : specific monsters, narratively significant moments, fate of the certain characters, including the protagonist.)
Some of it comes from the pace, which speeds up dramatically early in the season, and only slows down marginally to allow characters some breathing room. It’s not just gripping because it makes you want to hit play on the next episode, it also keeps you engaged because you can’t wait to see how the next wild set of events may be resolved and then topped. At about episode ten I was questioning how they could possibly produce a sense of further escalation. At episode twenty, I was wondering if anything can top dramatic impact of whatever was occurring only two thirds of the way through the season.
I need not have worried: every single incredible character moment, every mind-boggling turn of the plot, every single bizarre threat would be blown out of water by the next one.
Partly, this seemingly has to do with the writers attempts to ground the material. I am not sure what the novel contained, but I can discern that it was something along the lines of ghosts, ghouls and various supernatural circumstance. But when you are told  “this is a curse”, your reaction is naturally to go, “ah okay, so curses are a thing, and this is one of them, gotcha”. When you are told, “this is a heavy metal poisoning combined with a neurotoxin affecting the victim’s central nervous system and making them violently hallucinate”, your reaction is to question whether this is how metals, toxins, poisons, or, indeed, central nervous systems work in any version of reality.
The show does this a lot. From human shaped swarms of killer moths, to flying brain-penetrating eels, to probably my favourite monster of the moment: the murder clams.
Seriously, I cannot stress enough that this show has murder clams. They move with their clam mussels. They jump with their clam shells. They will murder you in cold blood.
Tumblr media
There are ancient “laser corridor” style set-ups, there are shapes made out of fog recording its memory, there are group hallucinations generated by the sound of thunder, there are Mission Impossible style full face masks. There is a character who walked off a gun wound and sarin gas poisoning in order to die in the arms of his lover who looks like his dead sister. And by “looks like” I mean, “played by the same actress”.
There is a whole character of Doctor Churros, who saves our hero from imminent death by washing his lungs with oil.
This, I suppose, ultimately, is how The Lost Tomb Reboot (Season 2 in particular) lures you in. It turns what I saw as the show’s fault in season 1 into its biggest strength by establishing the world in which nothing is too outlandish and everything is possible. It so thoroughly breaks your expectations barometer, you grow to willingly accept whatever is thrown at you.
The most beautiful thing about all of it, is that the fun and games and moments of barely controlled hysteria do not lower the stakes whatsoever. Moreover, somehow this show makes me believe that it could just about do something as irrevocable as, perhaps, killing off the protagonist
You know how you can watch, say, a super hero film, and then the “all is lost” moment happens, and you kind of have to struggle to care because you know that they will pull through. It’s curious to see how that happens, but you don’t doubt for even second that it will. Well, when that moment arrived here, I found myself between ugly sobbing, and going into speculation overdrive to try and figure out how the Reboot would deal with that. By then I have seen that show be an high octave action movie, a supernatural mystery, a horror thriller, a buddy comedy and a spy flick: it was not a massive stretch to imagine it turning into a revenge tragedy.
Wu Xie dying had been building up since episode one, so you had hours and hours and oh-so-many hours to brace for it, and when the tragedy does not strike, the relief is visceral.
Tumblr media
Despite all the moments of hilarity (whether intended or otherwise), despite the chaotic turns of the plot, despite how utterly off the charts this show is tonally, when it matters, the narrative is pulled together in a way which not only makes complete sense within the world of the series, but is meticulously set-up, satisfying resolved, and delivers lovely emotional impact. Considering that the moral of the story is a very common “live in the moment”, paired up with “greed is bad”, it was surprising how much resonance its delivery actually created.
Ultimately, however, this show is about found family, and, more specifically, about Wu Xie’s ability to create this family for himself and for every single member of it. He starts as one of the trio, and ends as one of a large group of old allies, new friends, and people he has graced with so much kindness that they follow him until the bitter end.
Tumblr media
Lost Tomb Reboot ensures that you get to know them all, and it’s pretty damn hard to not love this misfit group of adventurers in its entirety.
(The only thing I could say is that I wish the series spent more time making sure the viewer knows and likes Zhang Qiling, but it seemingly had little purpose for him apart form sweeping in as an avenging angel every now and then. I get that he is a well established character in the series, and that his whole thing is being deadly and enigmatic, but considering that you got to know the other two legs of the famous Triangle so well, it’s a shame that this one was reserved to mostly being Xiao Ge Ex Machina. It would have been nice to know what he was about apart from “really damn cool”.)
Bai Haotian remained my favourite character. She is cute, sweet, romantic, and, for the lack of a better word, “girly”. She is not shy about her crush on Wu Xie, and is prepared to do a lot of reckless, dangerous things for him. None of the above undermine her intelligence, cunningness and authority. Xiao Bai is a young woman in a position of power, and she absolutely knows how to handle herself; for every time she is a damsel in distress, she gets to be the rescuer. For every time she puts herself in needless danger, she learns to collect herself and plan ahead. For every time she is bossed around, she turns and takes charge. Her journey is not the centred around getting the guy, but around discovering her self-assertion; she finds her place within his team not by being a romantic interest, but through her personal strengths.
My absolutely favourite moment for her came when an antagonist used her affection for Wu Xie to get an upper hand on her, and she gets restrained, knife to her throat. Xiao Bai swivels away, knocks the attacker out and goes to town kicking him, to a great astonishment of this team, as she states that liking someone does not make her weak.
Tumblr media
And it doesn’t. Being in love has nothing to do with weakness or strength. Being a young, and excitable, and a woman does not equate to weakness either.
I’m not saying that this show is a feminist manifesto, because it is definitely not that. Every other prominent female character suffers a pitiful fate in service of creating motivation for the men of the story. But it does spend a lot of time making sure you, the viewer, know its heroes well enough to mentally befriend them. And if this means giving the female lead complexity, I cannot possibly be mad at that.
So, this was it. This was the Lost Tomb Reboot. It brought me a ridiculous amount of joy and I will miss it a lot.
And yes, the picture spams will be 100% an excuse to rewatch at least some of it.
PS. Said spams miiiiight be gif based if I figure out a way to colour correct the damn things.

1 - Are you one of those people who can watch TV shows and movies over and over again without getting bored? Yes. I love rewatching shows. I saw something recently that says people with anxiety tend to rewatch shows because they know what’s going to happen already. Very true. It’s very hard for me to invest my feelings in a new show when I don’t know what’s going to happen.
2 - If you drink coffee, do you like it plain or would you rather have something like a latte or something flavoured? I don’t drink it often but I could take it black or with flavored cream. I prefer lattes.
3 - How did you used to dress ten years ago? Do you dress in a similar way now? Yeah.
4 - When you’re grocery shopping, do you buy known brands or are you happy to go with the generic store version? I tend to just get whatever is cheapest or on sale. Except for sodas. I never get store brand sodas when I do get them. And chips. And I’m sure there’s others but I can’t think right now.
5 - Do you have a close relationship with any of your cousins? My cousin Kelly and her daughter.
6 - Who was the last person to sleep over at your house? Does this person stay over often or was it more of a one-off? My niece. She’s stayed a few times now.
7 - Does bad weather put you off going out if you’ve got plans to do so? Have you ever cancelled plans due to the weather? Eh, depends on what I’m going to do. Like if it’s raining obviously I’m not going to hang out outside all day.
8 - When you’re on vacation, do you prefer doing the typical tourist things, or would you rather explore somewhere off the beaten track? This would depend on where I am.
9 - Did your family travel a lot when you were younger? Yeah.
10 - When was the last time you went shopping for clothes? Did you get anything decent or find any bargains? I bought a Chicago Cubs hoodie for $4 at Torrid with rewards not too long ago.
11 - Is it true that accessories can make or break an outfit? Whatever.
12 - What is your worst memory from high school? What about the best? Eh. Nothing too horrible and nothing too remarkable.
13 - Is there any trait in a potential partner that would be a total deal breaker for you? If they were a Trump supporter.
14 - Do you insist people use coasters if they’re putting drinks down in your house? No.
15 - Have you ever been arrested? Were you guilty of whatever it is you were arrested for? I have and I was.
16 - Name five items on the shelf nearest to you: DVDs, a picture of me and my nieces, a Wii, a little fake succulent, a dreidel
17 - After meals, do you wash dishes up right away, or do you leave them in the sink and do a whole days worth at once? Lol.
18 - What websites do you find yourself spending the most time on? YouTube I guess.
19 - Do you still download music and TV shows? Nah I just use Spotify.
20 - Does your phone have a good battery life? How long does it last before you need to charge it again? It depends.
21 - When was the last time you hit snooze? This morning.
22 - Did you ever play The Sims? Which expansion pack was your favourite, if you had any? Nope. 23 - Are there any popular film series or TV shows that you just don’t get the appeal of? Any comic book/superhero movies really.
24 - As a child, did you receive pocket money or an allowance? How much did you get? Was it dependent on you doing chores of some kind? Sometimes.
25 - Do you think your parents did a good job of raising you? Would you do anything differently with your own kids? They did an alright job. Any parent has their faults of course. I’m not going to have children.
26 - If something is bothering you, do you have to fix it right away? Uhhh it depends? A lot of things aren’t that simple.
27 - Are there any household jobs you enjoy doing? If so, what’s the reason that you enjoy those things? Eh.
28 - Do you still live in the area you grew up in? Would you like to live somewhere else one day? Where would you go? I do. I’d love to live in the woods on a lake somewhere in the midwest or not far from it one day.
29 - Do you smoke, drink or do drugs? How old were you the first time you tried those things?  Do you want to quit? I drink occasionally. I was 16 when I first drank alcohol. And I smoke/ingest weed occasionally too. I was 18 when I first tried that.
30 - What’s one thing that really grosses you out? Is it something you have to deal with anyway? How do you cope? My brother in law.

The Great Con-Junction
Tumblr media
For a place like the world-famous Elstree Studios in London, history is made on the regular. Movies like "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," "Hot Fuzz," and even "Star Wars" have all been captured to celluloid moving at twenty-four frames per second. However, it was a lesser-known, though no less ambitious film that had eager fans lining up around the block on a mild February morning nearly forty years later. The film I speak of is none other than Jim Henson's 1982 cult-classic "The Dark Crystal." Myself and at least 200 other attendees were gathered for the first official Dark Crystal convention, celebrating both the film and the Netflix series. Taking place at the very studio where the movie was filmed, Thames Con's "The Great Con-Junction," was also the biggest reunion of the original cast and crew since the film's release. Once again, history was being made at Elstree Studios.
Tumblr media
Upon learning of the convention I was filled with both desire and regret. Desire to go, and regret that I most likely wouldn’t be able. I live in Glasgow which is 6.5 hours away from London by car, and I don’t drive. On top of that, I hadn’t any money saved for such an occasion. But through the generosity of several friends, my mother, and my boyfriend willing to drive me there, the impossible was suddenly very tangible. With only twenty days until the convention, I was one of the lucky few able to attend this momentous affair.
It may seem odd that such a niche convention could draw someone from as far away as Glasgow, and in some cases the US and Australia. But if you’ve ever been to a Star Trek or My Little Pony convention, you may have some idea as to the sort of passion we’re dealing with. For many, Dark Crystal isn’t merely a great creative property, it’s life-changing. As a child, Jim Henson’s work left an indelible mark upon my soul. Projects like "Fraggle Rock," "Storyteller," and "The Flintstones," inspired creativity in me and filled me with the desire to one day work for the Jim Henson Company. Sadly, years of adulting did their best to dull that flame to a mere ember. However, after last year’s premiere of "The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance," that ember grew into a roiling fire.
For the past month, I’ve been a ball of excited energy leading up to the convention. I’ve immersed myself in all things Jim Henson. Whether it be rewatching the Netflix series for the umpteenth time, revisiting Labyrinth, or reading JM Lee’s YA Dark Crystal novels, it’s been all I could do not to crack up. In the final week leading up to the event, I directed this nervous excitement into creating a cosplay as the Crystal of Truth, wrapped in black chains and metal claws. When the day finally arrived and I found myself waiting in line with other excited fans decked out in purple, or cosplaying as Deet or Rian, I knew I was with my people. The air was abuzz with excitement as we were slowly ushered into the building.
Tumblr media
The event hall at Elstree was decorated with posters of scenes from the movie along with mood lighting. Part of the ticket cost afforded each attendee a beautiful signed print by Brian Froud. A bar at the entrance was selling official Dark Crystal merch including the ThinkGeek Fizzgig puppet only available in the states. Right away I had blown most of my budget, but my new furry friend would agree I made the right choice! I’d been there not two minutes, and already my arms were full of swag. I took this opportunity to get my Fizzgig and a book signed by both Brian and Wendy Froud, who were very generously autographing people’s items for free.
Tumblr media
Usually, conventions leave a bad taste in my mouth as they seem like supremely capitalist ventures. And while there were plenty of things to buy, the Frouds’ generosity set the real tone of the event. Not only were they generous with their autographs, but they were also incredibly generous with their time. It seemed as though every person that talked to them was given an opportunity to gush and share their personal stories. As I told them both how much their work meant to me, they were treating it as though it were the first time they had heard it that day. Brian even took the time to doodle a little Fizzgig and Skeksis for me alongside his whimsical signature. The impression they left me with is that they were both very genuine and down to earth people, and meeting them is something I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
Tumblr media
One of the things Mr Froud shared with me was that in his experience, people’s reaction to the Dark Crystal is usually always something creative. People go off and make fan art, cosplays, puppets, or even their own artistic endeavours. You could see proof of this all around the room that day. I met a brilliant artist from Seattle named Nori (@noriretherford), who in exchange for doodles from attendees was giving beautiful prints of her fan art. I drew my best skekTek from memory and have the cutest depiction of Seladon, Tavra, and Brea playing as children to show for it. There were cosplays with humbling levels of detail and even the occasional puppets of people’s original characters. All around you, creativity was swirling, and people were passionately sharing their enthusiasm with one another.
Tumblr media
These initial couple of hours were dedicated to meet and greets with the cast, crew, and fellow attendees. Everyone seemed just as interested to listen as they were to share. One attendee remarked to me how she had never before felt more encouraged to speak to strangers than she had at the convention. Even my boyfriend, who is generally shy, was coming out of his shell and joining in the conversations. I was also pleased that the convention was managed well enough that I didn’t spend my entire day waiting in line to meet someone while he was relegated to watching my things. I was actually able to share this experience with him as opposed to relaying it through dreamfasting later. This made meeting the guests less of a thing to check off a list, and more of an experience.
My only real qualm with the structure of the convention was the Skeksis tea which was offered as part of the ticket price. Since I was unaware that the guests would be available all day, I was a bit late to lunch meaning the banquet was completely picked over by the time we had gotten there. No amount of cute creative table displays or impressively crafted Nebrie cake could obscure the fact that we were forced to find our lunch at the McDonalds across the road. Furthermore, I was unaware that the lunch was buffet style, which meant that if someone wanted to be as gluttonous as skekAyuk, it would leave the rest of us hungry. We were not alone in this, as several others were left to look upon the empty tables with dismay. That being said, for a first-time convention, it’s impressive that so little went awry.
Tumblr media
For me, the biggest highlight of the day was getting to actually see the Gelfling puppets along with their respective puppeteers. Both Beccy Henderson and Neil Sterenberg had Deet and Rian with them. I’m not ashamed to admit that I hugged Deet. Being able to see the detail of the puppets and feel the various textures employed by the brilliant fabricators at the Jim Henson Creature Workshop was mindblowing. Not to mention that both Beccy and Neil were just as generous with their time as the Frouds. Though I would have to say the most exciting puppet I met that day has to go to Hup, as Victor Yerrid was actually puppeteering him and speaking directly to attendees in Podling. Hearing Hup say my name and talk to me was overwhelmingly exciting! That man is a brilliant puppeteer.
Tumblr media
Throughout the day there were also several panels with guests from both the TV show and the movie. It was fascinating to listen to each of them tell their stories. Whether it be anecdotes about Jim Henson or tales about trying to navigate hot costumes under studio lights, it was a treasure trove of information. Listening to these stories was a constant reminder of the sheer amount of history present in the room. Each one of these guests had their own incredible careers, and here they all were, ready to share their fantastic stories. Yet despite this being an intimate gathering of a small group of creatives reuniting after 38+ years, it never once felt like it was all about them. You didn’t feel like an interloper or an evesdropper. We were all part of this wonderful experience together.
It was puppeteer Louise Gold’s remarks to the crowd about this that really put into words what we were all thinking. Through stifled tears, she remarked that she had initially come to see all of her old friends, but had found herself equally enriched by meeting the fans. Seeing all of us come together and sharing our stories was as inspiring to her as it was for us. Hearing her impassioned words moved quite a few of us to tears, myself included. She was easily one of my favourite people I met yesterday, and not just because she was so wonderfully extra. Her words spoke the same truth as Brian Froud's- what has resulted from this fandom is something creative. The Dark Crystal hasn’t simply entertained, it has changed lives.
Tumblr media
Of course, like any good convention, it wasn’t just the guests in the spotlight. The cosplay contest allowed for an opportunity for the fans to strut their stuff. Much like the ticket giveaway the organisers had done, they couldn’t decide on just one winner. There was so much goodwill and positivity flowing that honourable mentions were given prizes as well, and with good reason. There were so many incredible costumes that I doubt I could have picked the best of the lot. There were Gelflings, Skeksis, a Hup, and even an urRu! My favourite of the lot was a mother-daughter duo who went as Brea and Kira respectively. But that may just have to do with the fact that I’m a big Brea fan and her costume was incredible!
Tumblr media
Were I to think of any one word to explain how I feel about being able to attend this convention it would be grateful. I left feeling rejuvinated. My boyfriend even commented that I was “glowing.” I wish everyone in the fandom could have the same experience. I’ve seen so many passionate fans online in the last day wishing they could have gone, and I very easily could have been one of them. It’s proof to me that this fandom has more to it than just a few people toiling away in their basements. There is a real desire for these types of events. It’s not hard to imagine people declaring their Gelfling clan like Harry Potter fans might declare themselves Hufflepuffs or Ravenclaws. (I’m totally a Vapran.) If you look online, you can see people’s OCs of both Gelfling and Skeksis. Even I’ve considered putting together my own Gelfling Gathering here in Glasgow. I’m hopeful that this is a sign of things to come, and that we won’t have to wait a thousand trine for the next Great Con-Junction.

PSA for everyone
I know with everything that’s going on right now we are all feeling very stressed and a lot of us are feeling quite lonely. I haven’t seen anyone talking about it but i feel it’s important to acknowledge that this pandemic is going to cause a spike in suicide and suicide attempts. And just a downfall in mental health in general! This is a service post and I’m reminding and urging everyone to stay safe and not let the depression win. Though we are separated, we are all in this together.
TIPS FOR STAYING BUSY
-Crafts! I work at michaels and since this outbreak has started we’ve been super busy, everyone is buying craft supplies for themselves and their children and it’s a very valid thing to prioritize! So keep yourself busy by learning a new skill or craft, or practicing one you already know! You’re isolated remember so it doesn’t have to be good! it’s for yourself
- Reading! I’m assuming the Fic content is going to skyrocket soon with everyone being stuck at home so we should be able to keep ourselves endlessly busy with that but also real books! There is something so comforting about holding a psychical copy in your hand and getting lost. Romanticize it; curl up with your favourite blanket, a candle and a cup of tea (or coffee or water) and get lost in a story. Get lost in another life that isn’t this one right now.
I really like to use a site called ambientmixer when I’m reading or writing. It lets you pick a place in the world and it plays the background noises making it seem like you’re in that place! I usually put on the hogwarts library or coffeeshop and it’s very subtle
-And on that note as well! Writing!! Write stuff down, write about anything. It doesn’t have to be good, it doesn’t have to be an entirely well structured plot line, it doesn’t have to be posted. Write for yourself, do things for yourself in this time. It’s easy to get overwhelmed at a blank page but just remember you have all the time in the world right now.
-Learn something new; a new language, a new skill, anything! Try and dedicate a little time to it each day, and make sure it’s something that makes you happy. Love Space? Try and learn some things about stars and galaxies. Love mythology? There are infinite online resources and stories. We’re all going to come out of this as much more interesting people this way.
-Clean clean clean. Hey, it’s still spring right? That’s the ultimate time to do a big deep clean and this way it doesn’t have to be an entire day committed to cleaning your entire house. I know for me knowing i have so much to do in such little time makes me tired just at the thought of it. So take this opportunity and space things out, as little or as much as you want. But I think this is very important because a big trigger for a lot of mental and emotional stress is the environment we live in and it’s more important than ever to have a calm space.
Here’s a link by another tumblr user about cleaning when it seems overwhelming
-Redecorate! We all know the feeling of when we were kids and we’d move our room around and feel like a new person. And quite honestly we all need that feeling in our lives every once in a while.
-Start a new series, or rewatch an old loved series. While it’s important that we don’t spend our entire time on the couch let’s also be real, we are the netflix and chill generation and we’re just lying to ourselves if we don’t think we’re gonna spend a day or 5 binging TV. So pull up your streaming site, pick a good show, grab some snacks and come back to this post in 2-5 business days.
-Meditate. I find that people often associate meditation with spirituality and higher power stuff, which yes in spiritual practice meditation is very important but that’s mostly for it’s ability to calm and center people. It’s going to be very easy to find yourself overwhelmed and anxious when you’re alone with your thoughts 24/7 and meditation can be really beneficial. It’s very simple too and not as daunting as you might think! You can find a quiet space and sit or lay down, it can be done on your bed if you’d like! And you can play some soft music (without lyrics or something soft like a coffee house playlist), or listen to a podcast even, this can be done in silence also! You don’t have to do anything other than stay still and try and focus your thoughts. To stop them from becoming entirely overwhelming. There’s so many good videos for breathing exercises and some really good guided meditations as well if you’d like to be told exactly what to do. The purpose of this is just to ground yourself and give yourself some time to be calm and have control of your thoughts.
Here are some links to videos:
3
Now I can give you all these tips and ideas for staying sane but we also need to face the fact that when you’re struggling with mental illness as so many of us are it’s impossible to just ignore those thoughts and feelings. It’s very important that we reach out before things get too hard. I’d also like to say that if you’re feeling depressed or anxious and you need to talk you don’t have to be planning on attempting suicide or hurting yourself. Help lines and crisis lines are for anybody and I know you may be feeling like your issues are bad enough to reach out but they are! and you should reach out before they get worse! My DM’s are also always open to people who need to talk, I am not a professional but I’ve been there myself and I know sometimes it can help to just dump all of your problems into someones inbox, let that be mine.
Here are some Crisis and help lines that can help save a life:
Crisis Service Canada 1-833-456-4566 and you click on the link for more information and the instructions for Texting a crisis line
National Suicide prevention Hotline 1-800-273-8255 (United States)
Europe Hotlines
Crisis Textline UK
AGAIN! These crisis lines are not just for suicidal people, it is important to reach out if you are feeling mentally ill and you need help. You do not need to be standing on a ledge in order to ask for help.
Stay connected with your loved ones during this time and try not to isolate yourself more than you already are. Text and call your friends, connect with new people online (but be safe)
Do happy things!
Write your best friend daily letters and give it to them at the end of this whole thing and let that be something to look forward to, create something for someone else and let that be a drive to make it through this.
Everybody please do everything you can to stay safe during this hard time and do not be afraid to reach out! Your feelings are always valid and you are not being needy or annoying for wanting to talk to people all the time and wanting attention! Those feelings are valid! You are not being dramatic if you’re feeling super depressed or anxious! Your feelings are always Valid! I love you all and I’m so sorry this is something we are going through.
This virus is an attack on our Physical health but just as importantly it is very much so affecting our mental health!
Please feel free to add things in order to provide more resources and help for everyone!

You sat on top of your bed with the covers pulled over your head and your laptop in your lap. It was unhealthily close to your face as the light illuminated off your glasses into your dark room.
You glanced at the clock in the corner of your laptop.
3:27am.
You sighed but focused back on the task at hand. Editing this video.
To an outsider, you probably looked like a YouTuber editing their lengthy vlog, but that was far from the truth. You were actually editing something special for someone special.
You and Johnny’s anniversary was just a few days away. The two of you had been dating for three years. The best three years of your life, might you add. Of course, the two of you had gotten into some arguments, but you never failed to settle them within a day or two and it only made your relationship stronger.
Throughout the three years you’d been dating and the many years before from just being his friend, you had accumulated a plethora of videos and pictures of him on your phone. Sometimes when you were feeling down, you’d go back into your gallery and watch the videos of him goofing off in a store or laughing along to something your friends said. They never failed to lift your mood. You were actually rewatching some of them when you had gotten this idea of creating a collage of them.
You picked your favourite ones of him from your phone and got to work uploading them to your laptop and editing them down to a relatively suitable video. You were not an expert in video editing, in fact, you barely were able to figure out your laptop’s regular functions on a daily basis. You were not technologically advanced even though you really should be. However, you were determined to create a video to express how you felt towards your boyfriend and you weren’t about to back out now. Although, you could feel the sleep deprivation get to you and the harsh light from your laptop was not helping your already poor eyesight.
Truthfully, you were basically done trimming down the videos and putting them together in a relatively cohesive collage. You just needed to pick out the background music.
You scrolled through multiple playlists you had made on Spotify, but none of the songs seemed to compliment the tone of the video. It wasn’t until you had randomly clicked on a throwback playlist that you found the perfect song. You quickly downloaded it to your computer, excited at how well it fits the video.
It wasn’t until an hour later that you were finally satisfied with how the video turned out. You saved it to your computer and proceeded to pass out until the weekend was over.
-
You and Johnny were actually quite busy on the day of your anniversary so you both decided to wait until Friday to celebrate it. You were excited to show him the video, yet nervous at the same time.
He was a Film and Digital Media major after all. He even had his own YouTube channel (which you had taken some videos off of as well) which was new, yet gaining popularity quickly. His channel consisted of his daily life at university as a film major as well as videos of him and your friends hanging out, goofing around, and just being a mess in general. He had some videos dedicated to you, but he didn’t want his channel to become solely focused on his relationship, so it was more like an add on, rather than the overall theme of his channel.
You, on the other hand, were majoring in the sciences, specifically chemistry. You could solve the odd thermochemistry problems and strange-looking stoichiometry questions, yet you could hardly handle your laptop. You could barely create cool-looking excel spreadsheets without needing help from your friends. It was honestly embarrassing.
You hoped your video was at least okay...
Friday came quick and your classes flew by even quicker. You ended later than Johnny did, so as soon as you stepped out of your last class, you saw Johnny leaning against the opposite wall waiting for you. You immediately perked up when you saw him, bidding your friend goodbye as you bounded over to your boyfriend.
“Hey,” he smiled and pecked your lips. “Want to drop your stuff off at my apartment then we can go?” he asks. You nod and the two of you set off to his apartment hand in hand.
Even after dating for three years, you were still giddy whenever the two of you held hands. It may be lame to other people, but you love it. It’s not aggressive PDA, yet you were still able to be close to him, and that’s all you needed.
-
“What’s on your mind?” you hear Johnny ask. The two of you were currently cuddled up against each other on his couch as the TV played. It was a rerun of a popular drama, but you weren’t paying attention to it. Instead, you and Johnny were talking and just catching up on what happened throughout the week. You, however, were anxious about showing Johnny the video.
You were laying on top of his chest, your cheek resting on the back of your forearm as your other hand was fiddling with a loose string on his shirt. Your legs were entangled together messily, having been shifting every once in a while. He had one arm tucked behind his head while his other was rubbing random patterns on your back as the two of you talked.
“Nothing,” you say, it being a little muffled by your forearm. You feel the hand stop rubbing circles on your back and instead coming up to tilt your head a bit so you look at him.
“Nothing means something,” he quirks an eyebrow. You pout, knowing that he can practically read you like a book while he just smiles.
“I just made something for you, but it kind of came out like shit even though it took forever to make,” you laugh, trying to hide your nervousness.
“I told you that you didn’t need to do anything for me,” he tsks.
“You got something for me!” you lightly smack his chest. He just cracks a smile. He did get you something, and it was rather nice, to be honest.
He knows you like wearing a necklace every day, but not just any necklace. It has to mean something to you. You’re not a big jewellery girl, but necklaces aren’t high maintenance and they don’t get in the way of your daily life like bracelets do. He knows that you only wear certain jewellery so he went out and bought a necklace for you.
It was a simple, little star necklace, but he had his initials engraved on the back. You, however, knew how much he liked to spoil you so you knew it wasn’t cheap. In fact, it was sterling silver. When he told you that, you immediately wanted him to return it. You couldn’t let him spend that much money on you, especially when he said he didn’t need anything in return!
However, he said that he wouldn’t be able to return it since he got an engraving on it, so suck it up and accept it because you’re keeping it. You reluctantly accepted it, and it was currently hanging from your neck as you propped yourself up on your forearms to pout at your boyfriend. He just laughed at you and playfully pinched your cheeks.
You sat up all the way and reached for your backpack to take out your laptop. It was leaning right against the side of the couch so you didn’t have to get up, but you did have to turn around. You heard Johnny protest as you turned away from him. He sat up as well and as soon as you fished out your backpack, he snaked his arms around your waist to your front and pulled you back against him. Your back collided with his chest as he hooked his chin over your shoulder and sighed after settling down, content with you being so close once again.
“What’s this?” he asks when he sees you open up a file from your laptop. It loads a video and you click for it to go full screen.
“It’s just something I made...” you nervously reply. You feel him nod as he looks back to the screen. The preview picture shows him mid-laugh with the ocean behind him and the sun high in the sky.
You angle the screen towards him so he can see it better and hit play.
The video audio starts out soft, but it’s not long until the song starts playing. The chorus to Still Into You by Paramore blasts from your laptop speaker as a video clip of Johnny smiling and running around the beach flashes on the screen.
A series of videos of Johnny smiling and laughing, playing around, shopping, eating, working, and more, roll through as the music plays on. The entire video itself is only about a minute long, but it captures all your favourite things about him and all the memories you’ve shared with him. The video ends soon after and you realize he hadn’t spoken a word throughout the entire thing.
It makes you extremely nervous and you immediately think the worst. Does he not like it? Was this a stupid idea? Were your editing skills that bad?? You internally panic. You don’t even process he said anything until after a few moments.
“I loved it,” Johnny says softly. He was so entranced by the video that he wasn’t able to speak. Everything about it was perfect and the concept itself was so wholesome and he just loved it. The fact that you made it yourself, just for him, made the entire thing 1000x better in his opinion.
“Really?” you ask, surprised. You turn your head to look at him and catch the tender gaze in his eyes. He sees you turn out of the corner of his eye and physically has to tear his sight away from the screen to look at you. “I wasn’t sure what to do because you’re really amazing and editing and taking videos and it’s your major and your videos always look so professional and put together and I just made this at 3am one night because I was looking back at our old videos and we’ve just been together for so long, yet I still feel the same way as I did in the beginning and like that’s crazy and weird and I don’t know. Honestly, it’s not that good and it’s really sloppy and-”
He shuts you up by pressing his lips against yours. The angle is honestly pretty awkward. He’s right behind you so you both have to stretch your necks to even look at each other and on top of that, he has to bend down to even be at your eye level, but it’s still perfect in your opinion. Everything he does is perfect.
“It’s amazing and I love it and I love you,” he smiles as he pulls away. You feel his arms tighten just the slightest as he leans down to kiss your neck. It’s really only a press of his lips on skin since he can’t wipe off the smile from his face.
“I love you too,” you giggle.
He gently leans forward to grab your laptop and sets it on the ground before turning you around in his lap so you face him again. He doesn’t waste time in kissing you fully on the lips and wrapping his arms back around your waist.
You make a surprised squeak as you feel him lean back down to lay on the couch, bringing you down with him.

Opinion on show Prof. Membrane VS movie Prof. Membrane?
Of course! This will contain spoilers, just to warn ya! Also, thanks for this ask! I’ve been meaning to say somethin’ like this. @ everyone else, if you want me to “rate” a certain character, please let me know!
Show Membrane opinion:
He can be a jerk(and kinda cruel), petty(he straight-up said “Fine! If you’re not going to take this seriously, no infinite power for you!” and,,, kept his word), and not all that good of a father. He’s absent from his home and children often due to him trying to improve the world through SCIENCE!, which means said kids end up being left to their own devices at home. He does love them, though, and does still keep contact with them via advanced technology.
Rewatching the series has had me laughing a LOT whenever he’s not calling Dib crazy and insane(poor Feebly. I feel you, bro). Like, he’s so exaggerated and his interactions with the people around him can have me chuckling quite a bit. There was this one scene where he said something like “Curses aren’t real, son.” before proceeding to go Up and yell in a possessed manner for less than 2 second before sitting back down.
His laugh is so good. It’s over-the-top and sometimes really contagious(at least for me). I was watching the show yesterday and he was spending time with Gaz. His response to her telling him that Dib was suffering (by cleaning a toilet with his head in that one Pig Dimension) was great and went something like: “HAHAHAHAHA! You are the funny child.”
He’s a DILF, too, but looks like he’d be pretty bony. I’d still snuggle the hay outta him tho. Also, his hair being sentient scares me but also makes me laugh. I wonder if it works like Pinkie Pie’s and/or Lion’s manes...
[I’ll give my opinions for who I like better between the 2 at the end!]
Movie Membrane opinion:
Once again, a sometimes cruel sometimes jerk, but this time he’s Present in his kids’ lives(but that doesn’t mean he isn’t still mean to his son). He has some comedic times (he can say some “crAaAzY stUUuuff”), but I’ve noticed more and more that he’s... still... not a good dad. Like... Sheesh. In both cases, I’ve seen quite a bit of favoritism related to Gaz, but in ETF it’s more subtle(?? I need to watch it again).
He flip-flops a lot in his parental “skills”; one moment he’s doubting/gaslighting the hell out of his son, the next he’s “proud” of him, and then, oh wait you won’t believe it’s not butter!! He basically takes it all back by calling his son crazy again! He may be a DILF(imo, but not a very good dad...), but I still wanna kick him right in his kneecaps and brick his “funny bone”s(sorry if that’s a bit much. I just... hate when parents aren’t good to their children :/).
His new design is pleasant to my eyes, and I think his robot arms are the shiz, but that might make snuggling him be a little bit uncomfy. Unless they’re somehow soft? His flesh body looks soft, though, like a pillow, so gentle hugs and snuggles are acceptable.
His favourite child is still Gaz, which I can tell by the fact that she is treated nowhere the same as Dib. Once again, keep the bricks away from me and restrain my limbs. Anyway, I don’t think I’ve said my point enough/clearly: I HATE how he treats Dib like he’s irrational and doesn’t know what he’s talking about. I hate that he gaslights him. I hate that he remains willfully ignorant about the things his son tries to show/share with him. I just really hate him in that whole aspect.
Like, I get not enjoying the same things as your kids(I don’t have kids, but I do have siblings and I’m the eldest, plus I do have friends that don’t always share my same interests), but completely brushing them off as if they’re stupid? That’s just sick. I’m not just speaking from my “daddy issues” standpoint; I’m also talking from a general point of worry and care.
Conclusion:
Dadness + Personality Comparison: Both Membranes aren’t very good dads, but I personally think that Movie Membrane might be almost worse than Show Membrane- at least, in regard to the way he treats Dib. Yes, Show Membrane did do wrong, but since he was more absent he didn’t have all the time that Movie Membrane did to constantly make his son feel lesser than.
Show Membrane and Movie Membrane both love their kids, but they’re both cruel to their respective sons in their own ways. Both aren’t verbally kind always(the gaslighting, calling their respective sons “crazy” several times, etc), and Show Membrane even said he knew Dib would end up in the mental ward of his lab eventually(o o f that one really hurt when he said that). Now that I think about it, they’re both just... not good people. Not to say they don’t have redeeming qualities! But man oh man...
It did a hurted on me real bad when, as stated previously, Movie Membrane gave his praises to his son only to yank it away by going right back to his favourite passtime: gaslighting his only son. Ugh... It makes me feel like the times he’s being a “good” dad are disingenuine.
Humor Comparison: Both Membranes amuse me during their comedic times, but I think that they’re on their own Levels Of Funny. I say this because Show Membrane had his obliviousness/willful ignorance, scientific mindset, random outbursts, and pettiness drive the type of humor he presented- plus, sometimes I think I may have laughed at unintentionally funny parts.
Movie Membrane’s humorous moments were meant to be funny(but I do think I also laughed at unintentionally funny parts in this case too). Movie Membrane felt more... idk, watered down? in his humor, since I think the movie was not only to attract old fans but rather to also attract newer fans(feel free to correct me if I’m wrong!)- which means the jokes would need to also apply to/amuse a larger audience. Which is great that more fans would join the fandom, but having the humor be not quite as “sharp”(as in, kind-of off-putting, maybe sharp-tongued??) would probably make the people who watch the show afterwards quite... idk. I can’t speak for all others.
Design Comparison: I like both designs a lot! They work for the respective medias they reside in, with the sharper corners/features of Show Membrane(which, you may know, has “sharper” style) and the softer and more round features of Movie Membrane also works for the films “softer” style.
As stated pryviously, I think that if Movie Membrane doesn’t hug too hard then cuddling with him wouldn’t be (too?) painful. And despite the frame of Show Membrane, he could potentially be snuggleable, too.
Which One I Like More: I don’t know which I like more, since they both have kind of intense(?) pros and cons, but if I had to choose... I think Movie Membrane. Even though he’s unkind to his son, he is around more to actually intertact with his children. But idk, they’re both not very nice people(which is the point, I think?)

The Very Best of Supernatural
Tumblr media
Supernatural was just renewed for a fifteenth season. Which is insane. Even more disturbing is the fact that I've been reviewing this show for fourteen years, and it just... won't... end. Looking back over my earliest reviews, it's funny that I kept fretting about cancellation. Who knew?
The 300th episode will air this Thursday, February 7. In observance of this major event, six Agents of Doux compiled lists of their favorite Supernatural episodes, and I tallied our choices and made a final top ten. Okay, eleven, because there was a tie in there, but it was really hard to bring it down to eleven, let me tell you. Our list of honorable mentions went from here and out the door.
So here they are. Please note that if you haven't seen all or most of the series, there will inevitably be spoilers.
11. "A Very Supernatural Christmas" (season 3, episode 8)
Tumblr media
Christmas arrives smack dab in the middle of Dean’s last year on Earth, or so we believed at the time. Sam, knowing he will soon be left to carry on after his brother’s death, has no desire to celebrate which is at odds with Dean’s intention to collect as many happy memories as he can before the end.
This marks Supernatural’s first holiday episode with a marriage of gruesomeness, absurdity, and bittersweetness we'd already grown to love – from a blood-soaked Santa dragging a father up the chimney in front of his son, to bridge-playing pagan gods threatening Dean with the swear jar while preparing him and Sam for ritual sacrifice, all ending with the brother’s exchanging heartfelt gifts from a neighborhood Gas Mart as Baby looks on. The pièce de résistance – learning Dean’s amulet was a Christmas gift from a young Sam in unsaid acknowledgment that Dean was often more of a parent to Sam than John was. And no, I’m still not over Dean throwing it away. – Shari
10. "In the Beginning" (season 4, episode 3)
Tumblr media
A remarkably funny but ultimately tragic tribute to Back to the Future, Dean is sent back in time by Castiel and interacts with his young parents. He discovers that his mother and grandparents were hunters, and that Mary essentially sold as-yet-unborn Sam's future to the Yellow-Eyed Demon in exchange for John's life.
"In the Beginning" is a perfect example of the attention the Supernatural writers pay to continuity and series mythology, since it explained Mary's actions in the pilot episode on the night that she died. Plus it features, in my opinion, one of the most touching moments in the entire series. It's when young Mary tells Dean, not knowing that he is her son, "You know the worst thing I can think of? The very worst thing? It's for my children to be raised into this, like I was." It choked me up when it first aired. It still does. – Billie Doux
9. "Baby" (season 11, episode 4)
Tumblr media
The longevity of this series has allowed the writers to experiment and take chances, which often gives us exceptional episodes. This is one of them.
The Impala is home for the Winchesters, a legacy from their father. That car is not just in nearly every episode; it's also the setting of many of the most important brother scenes in the series. "Baby" gave us an entire episode from the car's point of view. I'm going to crib from my initial review: "This episode was such a love letter to the fans. It was the world of the Winchesters, but not what we usually see on the show. It was what happens in between and around what we usually see." The camera angles, the head in the cooler, the windshield wipers, the valet parking, Castiel on the cell phone, the brothers singing "Night Moves" together, it was different from all the others but a practically perfect episode. – Billie Doux
8. "Fan Fiction" (season 10, episode 5)
Tumblr media
Supernatural's 100th episode ("Point of No Return") was good, but arc-plot heavy. Coming in the middle of a very serious storyline, it's dramatic and moves the plot along. But its 200th, "Fan Fiction," is a complete contrast and a sheer joy from start to finish. An episode centred around a girls' school putting on a musical they wrote themselves, based on the first five years of Supernatural, sounds like a terrible idea. And yet, writer Robbie Thompson makes it work. The episode also features great performances from the young actresses, but it's the numerous call backs in jokes and the way the episode revisits old favourites with a twist that make it one of the show's most re-watchable episodes. – Juliette
7. "Swan Song" (season 5, episode 22)
Tumblr media
Endings are hard, as Chuck would say. You have to balance expectation with payoff, death and survival and a resolution that feels satisfying. For Supernatural, this was supposed to be it, the show's literal swan song, as planned out by Kripke. It was sad and painful. If this had been the ending, it would’ve left us with Dean trying to live on after losing his brother to spend eternity with the Devil in hell, and that’s pretty brutal. Of course, framing the story around Baby, and making the car one of the most important things in the universe, was perfect. The only reason we didn’t end with Sam in the box is because of season renewal, leaving us with more questions than answers. Including what happened to Chuck. – J.D. Balthazar
6. “Dark Side of the Moon” (season 5, episode 16)
Tumblr media
This episode has always been a huge favorite of mine. The opening scene where Dean and younger Sam set off fireworks to "Knock Knock Knocking on Heaven's Door" was so gorgeous that it gave me goosebumps.
How many shows would dare to send their two main characters to Heaven? And show that Heaven as somewhat creepy? What I found poignant was that the brothers' choice of happy memories mostly don't include each other. I've often thought that a perfect end to the series would be the two of them in a Heaven that finally included each other, with everything that ever divided them fully resolved. – Billie Doux
5. "Wishful Thinking" (season 4, episode 8)
Tumblr media
Absolutely one of their best comical episodes, from the "deep woods Duchovny" line to the suicidal teddy bear. Although, of course, what makes funny Supernatural episodes work is that there is always an element of underlying seriousness or tragedy. Here, it was the acknowledgement that using magic to make someone love you is evil. This was also the episode where Dean told Sam the truth about his experiences in Hell. – Billie Doux
4. "Don't Call Me Shurley" (season 11, episode 20)
Tumblr media
Supernatural has a warm heart and it's often hilarious, but it's not often happy. Usually, the joy of watching Supernatural comes at least partly from knowing that whatever's going on in your own life, Sam and Dean surely have it worse. But "Don't Call Me Shurley" is different. The ending of "Don't Call Me Shurley" is miraculous – and we mean that literally. The rest of the episode is a delight anyway, offering a witty back and forth between God and His Voice – and finally confirming what "Swan Song" had only suggested. But that ending, when, temporarily at least, we get a real miracle and a moment of salvation, is what makes this episode really special – eleven years of storytelling reaching a thrilling moment of clarity. – Juliette
3. "The Monster at the End of This Book" (season 4, episode 18)
Tumblr media
Oh, how I love this one. "Monster" is the introduction to the meta episodes where the Winchesters discover that they are main characters in a series of novels called "Supernatural," written by hack writer Chuck Shurley. As I said in my write-up of "Baby," it's taking radical chances with the narrative while continuing to stick closely to the show's mythology that makes Supernatural special.
And wow, this episode is special. Clever and funny and full of geeky in-jokes (especially the boys' disgusted discovery of the existence of Winchester slash), there is also that foundation of tragedy that makes it all work. The brothers cannot escape their fate. It's in the Winchester Gospels. – Billie Doux
2. "Changing Channels" (season 5, episode 8)
Tumblr media
Take a beloved character, mix in playful jabs at some of the most popular TV shows while both expanding the narrative and laying the fate of the world on the interpersonal relationship of our favorite brothers. No wonder it’s one of the show’s creator, Eric Kripke’s favorite episodes. We discover the Trickster we’ve grown to know and love is none other than the Archangel Gabriel, little brother to Michael and Lucifer. Now that the Winchester’s have given Michael and Luci the Earth on which to wage their civil war, Gabriel is eager to see it end no matter the cost.
This doesn’t mean he can’t have fun doing it. Between the sitcom Supernatural’s opening credits, Dean fangirling over Dr. Sexy, Sam and the literal nutcracker, and the meta nod to Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s portrayal of a ghost on certain Seattle based medical show that shall remain nameless, we are treated to a host of laugh out loud moments. My personal favorite was Sam’s less than ecstatic performance in a genital herpes commercial. – Shari
"Nutcracker!!!!"
1. "Mystery Spot" (season 3, episode 11)
Tumblr media
There’s something both twisted and poignant about watching Dean die again and again. Funny in a macabre way, for sure but also a touch tragic because in the Supernatural verse, those deaths were real. Well, real in that each was recorded, and each time he went to heaven briefly. No wonder Death finds Dean fascinating and frustrating.
Of course, it was really Sam’s episode, dealing with the pain of watching his brother die again and again, and the numbness that came with it was palpable. To this day, in season fourteen this episode has been referenced. Pretty good impact for a generally comedic episode. – J.D. Balthazar
Conclusion (by Billie Doux)
Putting this list together made me want to rewatch the entire series, although with so many seasons, that's turned into a major commitment. You know, we could probably put together lists of our top ten best comic episodes, the ten most tragic, ten scariest, ten best angel episodes, ten best ghost episodes, and so on because with so many seasons, there's so much to choose from.
It's interesting that the Groundhog Day episode "Mystery Spot" turned out to be our number one, simply because most of us put it on our list. Is it yours? Is your favorite even on this list? Post it in the comments!
Billie Doux has been reviewing Supernatural for so long that Dean and Sam Winchester feel like old friends. Courageous, adventurous, gorgeous old friends.

11 Questions
The rules:
Post the rules
Answer the questions given to you by the tagger
Write 11 questions of your own
And tag 11 people
I was tagged by @pixiedane - thank you! ^_^
1. What’s the meaning of your name? Does it suit you? I don’t use any part of my real name on here because I worry about privacy, and it’s at times like this that that kills me! XD My nomme de internet is Meg, which I chose several years ago when I was trying to think of something I would like to go by. I didn’t want to pick a name of any character in a current fandom for confusion’s sake, but my mind went to literary characters, and so I chose the name of the protagonist of the book that has been my favorite for fifteen years, A Wrinkle in Time (never dreaming that it would end up as a huge movie a few years later!) It means pearl, which…is a nice stone, I guess? I had to look that up just now and have no strong feelings about whether it suits me or not (unlike my real name, which I look up on every name site or baby name book I stumble upon, like we all do)
2. What’s a movie you never get tired of? Ooh, this is also a question that I can’t answer head-on, because I very rarely rewatch anything more than once or twice a year–far less than that, if it’s something I especially love–because my brain is on the high end of the curve for things getting ““old”” upon rewatching. (If I love it I will never actually get *tired* of it *consciously,* it’s just that my brain doesn’t as much enjoyment out of seeing it if it’s “too soon.”) So, I’ll pick a longterm fave that I watch every year or so: the first Avengers movie, which has been my favorite movie (or at least in my top five) since it came out.
3. Your favourite movie soundtrack? I’m gonna have to go with the soundtrack of Reign of Assassins, which is another current favorite movie, thanks to Star Trek getting me on a Michelle Yeoh kick. Now that I’ve seen the movie multiple times, the music alone makes me Feel Things. (If anyone’s seen it and wants to talk about it with me, pLEASE)
4. How would you describe your personal style? In flux and all over the place! Hmmm…fairly simple, mostly, though I do have several clothing items with sparkles.
5. Name a fictional crush. Hmmmmmmm. No clue.
6. What’s your motto? I love this question. It’s not something I’ve ever thought about as such, though I do have a little notebook of quotes that speak to me. I’ll go with the song lyric “Hold on to what we are/Hold on to your heart.” It’s from Your Bones by Of Monsters and Men, and as someone who listens to and creates fanmixes (and plans more than I ever go through with) constantly, I’ve noticed that that song, and that lyric in particular, is PERFECT for…almost every piece of media I’ve fallen deeply in love with over the last few years. Haha. I guess the litmus test of “Will I find this book/movie/show deeply meaningful and get obsessed with it?” is “Does Your Bones belong on its fanmix?” ;D
7. Are you a gamer? Nope! I admire you gamers’ weird mystical knowledge, but I do not have or hanker after it.
8. Would you rather spend time on a secluded beach or at a fancy cocktail party? Secluded beach! Secluded beach! Secluded beach!!!!!!!!
9. Recommend a television series. I just finished the first season of The Good Place, and it is AWESOME.
10. Do you have any phobias? I used to have a phobia of daddy long legs (specifically, not spiders in general) but I mostly lost it, thank goodness! (I’m interpreting this question to mean phobia specifically, rather than a fear. I was never actually afraid of daddy long legs, and I have plenty of other things I’m afraid of now!)
11. What’s your rarest rarepair? Tasha Yar x Philippa Georgiou, a rarepair so rare that I don’t believe there is any content for them beyond my one post.
As a random P.S., I was proofreading this and noticed two of the four pieces of media I actually referenced in this post, Reign of Assassins and The Good Place, would not in fact have Your Bones on their fanmix, as they’re more about changing who you are and what you believe than holding on to who you are and what you believe. Heh.
My questions are:
1. What’s your favorite album? Do you like all the songs on it?  2. If squirrels were still domesticated and kept as pets, would you want one? 3. What’s your favorite type of chair to sit in? 4. What’s your favorite type of chair to look at? 5.  Movie theater or movie night in? 6. Do you think the kind of fictional characters who you like have changed over the course of your life? 7. Would you like to meet your favorite fictional character (or would that be a disaster)? 8. What’s your alignment (e.g. Lawful Good, Chaotic Neutral, etc)? 9. What was the last piece of media you watched/read that you loved? 10. Summer or winter? 11. Do you like, dislike, or feel neutral about socks?
No-pressure tagging @the-bookwyrm @sapphic-phoenix @weary-hearted-queen @cheile @carlynroth @borgjaneway @jhelenoftrek @devoverest @supernovacoffee @emmikamikatze @joyful-voyager !

Spartacus: Vengeance Rewatch - Episode 1: Fugitivus
Sex Scene: All of them. They went to a whorehouse.
“Cock”: 4
“Cunt”: 2
“Kill Them All”: 0 (I wonder if this is said at all in S2 or 3)
“Fucking Gaul”: 3
Slow motion Face Punch:0
Episode Name Dropped by: Aurelia
Memorable Death:  Aurelia
Favourite Line: “We must stand as one, or fall divided.”
- This is the greatest way they could have introduced the new Spartacus actor. It was amazing.
- Spartacus facing down that horse is beautiful.
- AGRON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- DONAR!! =]
- He’s still throwing his bloody sword.
- I love that Donar has this axe thing, it’s awesome and sets him apart from the other gladiators.
- This beginning fight scene is so well done.
- Agron oh gosh. He’s so angry, so crazed by his grief. Everyone is so wary of him, but like he lost his brother. My poor baby.
-  “I believe the man dead.” – the moment I fell in love with Donar and his bromance with Agron.
- I can always rely on Agron to say “cock”
-  Spartacus has never really been a savage until right now when he carves a message into a dead guy’s chest. Seriously, wtf.
- I’m so in love with Agron’s necklace.
- Ha! Rome, it looks like it’s still being built. That’s hilarious.
- Pompey mention!
- What is with all those masks?! How fucking creepy.
- “Where youth plummets, maturity may soar.”
- As someone who hasn’t ever paid any interest in wars, all this undoubtedly historically accurate war talk is super boring.
- Everyone under the sun is named Marcus
- Varinius!! BAHAHAHAHAHAHA oh man, seriously. Just, Brett Tucker is an Aussie actor that has been in basically everything! I can’t take him seriously.
- AND HE FUCKING SAID MONGRELS!
- Seriously this triangle between Ilithyia, Varinius, and Glaber is basically the entire subplot of S2.
- The one thing I get super bored of in Spartacus is men and their egos.
- Mira is literally in the sewers and she’s still a queen.
- Oh hey, the Veteran!
- The kid that says “I will kill many Romans” looks like Tyler Lockwood from Vampire Diaries.
- You can actually see Mira’s face fall when Aurelia comes into view. Like she knows that when Aurelia is around Spartacus can see no one else. It’s not a romantic thing, it’s a Varro thing.
- Agron and Donar bromance, I love it. Almost makes up for Duro’s death, almost.
- The Gauls are mostly comprised of New Zealanders – just an observation.
- I sometimes can’t believe that the gladiators treat the house slaves so poorly and sometimes don’t seem to give a fuck about any slaves still in chains.
- “Rabbits” - I still don’t understand this.
-  Oh, Acer.
-  Yessss Mira!!!!!
- Oh the showdown between the Gauls and the rest of the slaves is so intense and beautifully done.
- I really like that even with the new actor they still put all the same scars on him. Good job.
- Oh gosh. Mira loves Spartacus so much…..and S2 Spartacus clearly cares for her way more than he did in S1, but still. She deserves better.
- “I have proven troublesome to kill.”
- Gah, the thing with Spartacus in S2 is he cares more about killing Romans than protecting the other slaves. At least Mira and even Agron are there to pick up the slack.
- “I hear you wish to command my men.” – when I first heard this I thought it very antagonistic, like the fractions were splitting apart. But it’s more of Spartacus being the head honcho, and Crixus being a General that leads his own fraction but still reports to Spartacus. Warfare is not my thing but I’m learning.
- Yeah, because a curtain is going to give you so much privacy. Everyone can still hear you guys.
- “Did his blood bear fruit?”
- Trebius! Ah!
- Arena games!!! Oh how I miss you!
- Seppia really freaking frustrates me. She is so childish and has no idea the kinds of games she’s playing. She’s a fool.
- Seppius and Seppia are fucking right? That’s what they’re implying? A whole bunch of incest? I wanna hate it but I can see it.
- I don’t understand how the gladiator fights could be boring? Or how Batiatus’ gladiators could have made it more entertaining? You’re still watching two dudes kill each other.
- I haven’t even watch Star Wars but Oenomaus in that cloak gives me Jedi vibes.
- That guy in the alley gives me Pirates of The Caribbean vibes.
-  On one hand whenever I see Oenomaus I’m like “Don’t hurt this precious baby.” But then again “Hell yes baby you kick their asses!”
- Holy shit!!!!!!!!!!! Arm bone through the skin!!!!!!! Shit! Knife through the eye!!!!! Ah! Right through the jaw!!!!! Oenomaus is such a badass!
- Aurelia talking about how much she wants to go back to Janis. Well, you shouldn’t have left him in the first place! Her pride was as foolish as any man’s.
- “That lopsided grin. Eye’s promising mischief. I’ve seen in many times, upon his father.” –seriously my shipper heart. Spartacus loved Varro, it’s canon.
- “I fell to love the crooked bend of Varro's lips long before the man himself.” “As did I.” – IT’S MOTHERFLIPPING CANON I TELL YOU.
- I mean Spartacus can be a kind man when he wants to. He’s just very single minded.
- Gotta give their art department props. Having a fake pregnant woman be naked, and it look real….like damn, they deserve a pat on the back.
- I am loving Ilithyia’s purple gown thing though, wowzah.
- Marcus Crassus mention again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- “She was a fucking bitch” – I find that fucking hilarious.
- Agron said bleat! Goat reference! My shipper heart!
- Wow, Spartacus said “whores” somehow that’s more shocking than anything else on this show.
- I love Agron’s loyalty to Spartacus but I wish Spartacus would see it too. In this season and the next he kind of treats Agron like crap.
- “You had me at whores.” – I love Donar.
- “Avoid unnecessary risk.” Sparty, baby, do you realise who you talking to?!
- Loving the idea of Mira, Donar, and Agron planning behind Spartacus’ back. These are the people who want to protect the other slaves, not spend every day covered in Roman blood.
- “As are all things, in pursuit of a woman.” Gotta love the salty gay trope. Agron pulls it off swimmingly.
- “I will tell Janis of you. Of the man who loved his father above all others.” CANON. I really didn’t ship Spartacus and Varro this much the first time around.
- “I gave my word. Blood and Honour. It yet speaks to the man.” as said in S1.
- Gladiators in hoods is everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Woman with a massive dildo fucking a dude. Yep.
- Oh! I think this is the first penis shots we’ve had in a while.
- Guy on Guy sex. Well then. So much gay sex in this series, it’s glorious.
- The four guys throwing the girl around makes me super fucking uncomfortable, especially when you can hear her. She is so not enjoying this.
- Another memorable death = dude jerking off and just as he’s about to finish, gets a sword through his throat.
- It’s gotta suck so bad for all these guys that are dying with their dicks out. Especially that guy that got a sword right between the legs. Ouch.
- Never noticed but there’s a very very large woman in the whorehouse and a skinny guy on all fours in front of her. I’m so curious about what’s happening there.
- How many innocent body slaves died in this attack???
- Poor boy with cum all over his face.
- Trebius is so fucking disgusting. Peeing all over that girl.
- I get that this girl is probably horrendously traumatized but she really have to go and kill the only lead they had to Naevia.
- AGRON KICKING THE SHIT OUTTA TREBIUS COS HE SOLD HIM AND DURO TO BATIATUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahh my heart!
- I seriously hate Spartacus in this scene and it kind of tainted him for me. He’s telling Agron that he can’t kill Trebius as revenge for Duro, BUT THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT SPARTACUS IS DOING WITH GLABER! He’s such a fucking hypocrite!
- Crixus sticking his hand inside Trebius’ gut is so gross.
-  I get that Glaber is angry at Ilithyia but she clearly has some PTSD that is triggered by that house and he’s forcing her to stay there. Not cool.
- OVER THE CLIFF!! Yes Ilithyia!
- There’s no logical reason for that mask to be there, except to provoke memories.
- Flashback penis.
-  I never noticed but Ilithyia has a really big mouth.
- I honestly thought the figure was gonna be Spartacus, I was so surprised to see Lucretia.
- Lucretia being out of her freaking mind is magical. All the props to the actress.
- “What fragments her shattered mind yet holds.”
- Seriously, the male ego.
- Old woman slave = headcanon that she ran the whole Battiatus household. Also, that young boy slave is super attractive, how has Agron not noticed this?!?
- “Grab your fucking cock.” – oh wait, maybe he has! Ha!
- Foreshadow of Agron not thinking house/body salves are worth much. Ahhhhhhh how wrong he shall be ;)
- “We knew this day would come” SPARTACUS YOU MADE THIS DAY COME, YOU WROTE A FUCKING MESSAGE! Gah!
- Angry little lost boy. Agron is my fave if you can’t already tell.
-  “That is no longer my title.” – poor baby.
- “There is but one place for an animal without honour.”
- Singleminded Spartacus is one of my least faves.
- I love how they take Lucretia way back to the drought, to before Spartacus killed Theokoles.
- I really love how in this show they show woman with pubic hair, COS IT’S FUCKING NATURAL and women shouldn’t have to shave because society tells them to.
- “Smashed upon the cliffs.” – foreshadowing!
- Argh! This leaning back shit women do during sex scenes on tv annoys the hell outta me. That move is done purely for the male viewers. For the women doing it, it’s really fucking awkward.
-  “You bark as a dominus.” “Sheep stand idle if not prodded by snapping jaw.” – I love Agron and Donar moments.
- “Let us compare teeth and have answer.” – they are basically talking about comparing dick sizes right?????
- Lucretia with dark hair and wearing a purple dress. Goddess.
- “Do not shed fucking tear.”
- Fucking love that Lucretia is the one to spot Spartacus.
- Seppius rolling his eyes at Glaber. Me too, bro, me too.
- Ah the foreshadow of Glaber and Seppia. Yuck.
- The rebels coming to Spartacus’ aid. I love their loyalty.
- Seriously Donar and his axe.
- Agron picking up Aurelia and throwing her over his shoulder. It’s hilarious because she is so freaking tiny compared to him, and also cos he’s super gay and doesn’t understand females at all.
- Lucretia and Crixus seeing each other again is super powerful.
- MIRA with a “fucking Gauls.” Did not see that coming.
-  “Do any of us hold fucking worth to you?”
- Mira’s little rant to Spartacus is all well and good, but did she have to be mean to Agron.
- The Spartacus and Crixus bromance is strong in S2.
- VENGEANCE NAME DROP.
- Agron looks so little, so small and young. My baby.
- I still fucking hate Aurelia.
- I do love that Agron was willing to go and fight Glaber because of Aurelia, someone he didn’t even seem to like at all.Baby’s got a heart.
- THE BEGINNING OF THE REBEL ARMY!!!!!!!!!!!YAAAAAS!

1 - Are you one of those people who can watch TV shows and movies over and over again without getting bored?  No, I usually don’t have the time to rewatch something and I am not one of those people who needs background noise when doing work so.. I usually put on something new and mindless if I need something.
2 - If you drink coffee, do you like it plain or would you rather have something like a latte or something flavoured?  I don’t really like it plain, but if it’s all there is, I’ll drink it. I do like adding syrup or flavor to the beans or the creamer if possible.
3 - How did you used to dress ten years ago? Do you dress in a similar way now?  I was mostly in my uniform 10 years ago, but, yeah I guess I dress mostly the same. I guess there’s more cardigans in my wardrobe now? I don’t really remember what I would wear to church before college. But I’d say it’s pretty similar styles.
4 - When you’re grocery shopping, do you buy known brands or are you happy to go with the generic store version? I tend to go with whatever is cheapest, usually. I think Brandon is kind of the same way. We both get some things name brand and somethings store b rand (frozen veggies, bread)
5 - Do you have a close relationship with any of your cousins?  Not really, unfortunately.
6 - Who was the last person to sleep over at your house? Does this person stay over often or was it more of a one-off? Jade. It’s defnitely more of a one-off. That was the first time she was here in 3 years of living here.
7 - Does bad weather put you off going out if you’ve got plans to do so? Have you ever cancelled plans due to the weather? Oh, plans. Lots of summer plans got cancelled this year because of rain. It doesn’t usually deter me from going out but sometimes there is an understanding.
8 - When you’re on vacation, do you prefer doing the typical tourist things, or would you rather explore somewhere off the beaten track? I didn’t really go on vacation to many places other than Disney World (not that I’m ungrateful) so I guess I’m more of a tourist. Eventually when we’re allowed to travel again (safely), I wouldn’t mind finding and exploring off the beaten track.
9 - Did your family travel a lot when you were younger? Yeah, when I was younger I feel like we went to Florida more often if only to see my grandparents.
10 - When was the last time you went shopping for clothes? Did you get anything decent or find any bargains? I looked around the outlets for a shirt to wear to the women’s march about a month or so ago. But I didn’t even see anything so I stopped looking. Then I just bought like 5 pairs of leggings and 2 pairs of sweats cause I kidna needed them.
11 - Is it true that accessories can make or break an outfit? I suppose they can dress it up. Most of my accessories aren’t really accent pieces.
12 - What is your worst memory from high school? What about the best? The worst memory stems from my  best memory unfortunately. My worst memory is everything that happened with the group that formed to come against (mainly) me. My best memory is the unconditional love with Johnny and Melissa.
13 - Is there any trait in a potential partner that would be a total deal breaker for you? Hard to say since I’ve been with the same guy for a few years. Deal breaker would probably be cheating for me though.
14 - Do you insist people use coasters if they’re putting drinks down in your house? No.
15 - Have you ever been arrested? Were you guilty of whatever it is you were arrested for? I’ve never been arrested.
16 - Name five items on the shelf nearest to you: Pajamas, manicure / pedicure set, and some shoe boxes.
17 - After meals, do you wash dishes up right away, or do you leave them in the sink and do a whole days worth at once? I do a whole day (or twos) at once usually.
18 - What websites do you find yourself spending the most time on? Reddit is probably actually my most active website I spend time on lately. If apps count, I guess messenger.
19 - Do you still download music and TV shows? Nope.
20 - Does your phone have a good battery life? How long does it last before you need to charge it again? It’s decent. It depends on how much I use it. Today I woke up early at 6, and sorta used it but also didn’t, so I needed to charge it when I got to my parents around 1. Sometimes I can get to work and it be pretty dead. It’s better than what I’ve had before, that’s for sure.
21 - When was the last time you hit snooze? Hm. I’ve been waking up pretty consistently with alarms lately. I feel like maybe a few weeks ago?.
22 - Did you ever play The Sims? Which expansion pack was your favourite, if you had any? I don’t really remember. I think we did have some, but I’m not sure if we ever got them to work. Now I kinda wanna play the sims. lol
23 - Are there any popular film series or TV shows that you just don’t get the appeal of? I guess even though I couldn’t really ist into it, I kind of get the appeal of My Hero Academia. Mainly for me right now, the closest thing is Dave Chapelle’s comedy specials. Every stint is pretty cringy. I haven’t watched his tv show though, which I think is where people love him from.
24 - As a child, did you receive pocket money or an allowance? How much did you get? Was it dependent on you doing chores of some kind? I think at one point briefly I had an allowance. But I don’t really remember much. My parents barely ever gave me money to do what I wanted and I’m pretty sure I will never see the money I earned from my small jobs in high school.
25 - Do you think your parents did a good job of raising you? Would you do anything differently with your own kids? I don’t know how to answer this. I think I am a pretty well adjusted person but I do sort of blame them for my awkwardness. And I kind of credit myself for not turning out like them. I’m so not ready to think about what I want to do with my own kids, but I hope that I can be there to help my kids a little more emotionally.
26 - If something is bothering you, do you have to fix it right away? Depends. In work or something? Yeah. Emotionally or socially? almost never.
27 - Are there any household jobs you enjoy doing? If so, what’s the reason that you enjoy those things? I really don’t enjoy doing any housework. I don’t mind doing the dishes, because it gives me some release. But everything else usually stresses me out more than it helps me.
28 - Do you still live in the area you grew up in? Would you like to live somewhere else one day? Where would you go? I live in the same city, but not the same neighborhood. At this point, I think I do see myself staying here.
29 - Do you smoke, drink or do drugs? How old were you the first time you tried those things?  Do you want to quit? I drink. I started at 20, such a rebel. I honestly only really drink socially, so I don’t really want (or feel like I need) to quit.
30 - What’s one thing that really grosses you out? Is it something you have to deal with anyway? How do you cope? Touching certain condiments skeeves me out. I just kinda gag and do it anyway.

Jet Wolf Summarizes Act 45
The manga and I kind of hate each other. This is unfortunate, but still, I’m determined to come out of this with something. Rather than spend energy on a liveblog that’s increasingly negative, I’m reading each manga act (mostly) silently, and then writing up summaries at the end. I won’t pull my punches. There’s going to be criticism and snark about the manga, either wholesale or in details. If that isn’t a thing you feel like reading, please skip this post!
It’s not that I’m disappointed by how surprised I’m not by anything that happened here. It’s more like the resigned haze of going through a vaguely unpleasant experience. Like going to the dentist. You’ll never be happy to go, but you take a deep breath every six months and sit in the chair and get on with it.
Only this is weekly. And I can’t put it off for three years. ALSO I DON’T GET A LITTLE PLASTIC TOY AT THE END WHERE IS MY LITTLE PLASTIC TOY GOD DAMMIT
Anyway, I hate myself, SO IT’S MANGA TIME.
A brand new volume brings the same old shit, as we open with the Inners incapacitated and helpless. Remember how furious I was back in Crystal that I spent several hours combing through the fucking thing to calculate how much collective time the Inner Senshi spent knocked out or otherwise unable to fight? LITTLE DID I KNOW THAT WOULD BE THE MOST ACCURATE FUCKING PART OF THE WHOLE SERIES.
So the Outers burst in, all eyeless and mysterious. But not so mysterious that Haruka can’t be a fucking asshole to Michiru, who is also there. They transform in full view of the Quartet, which in no way seems contradictory to their vows to keep everyone safe. They free the Inners, who spend the next twenty pages or so simply saying the Outers’ names and otherwise doing nothing. Or so you’d think. Off-panel, the girls stand at their portable mini-bar and talk about their job search while CPR dummies in cheap store-bought Senshi costumes seamlessly replace them. After about fifteen minutes, Michiru has joined them. She didn’t bother with a stand-in. Nobody on-panel notices.
Artemis is a cat again. Minako picks up the vodka, pours a shot, and then drinks directly from the bottle.
At Usagi’s house, she’s suffering from Black Rose Syndrome. They still manage to work in Mamoru.
Back in the fight with the Quartet, Pluto lays down the most absurd fucking shit that I actually yelled when I read it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
THIS DOESN’T MAKE ANY FUCKING SENSE
"We can’t avoid our destiny, which is protecting Usagi (and Mamoru too for no fucking good reason I guess), so we’ll do all we can to do the thing we are destined to do to overcome that destiny in order to make a new one which will be identical in all respects to the old one for the next thousand years, minimum.”
SAYING “FATE” AND “DESTINY” A LOT DOESN’T MEAN YOU’RE ACTUALLY DOING ANYTHING TO AFFECT IT PLUTO AND YOU OF ALL PEOPLE SHOULD GET THAT
This entire part makes me so fucking angry. If the manga has reinforced anything, it’s the idea of its characters having exactly no will or control over anything that happens do them. Their personalities are paper thin and their devotion never justified, so literally all that’s left is “because reasons”. And if you want that as a central point of your story, by all means. But you don’t ALSO then get to wave your hand and try to claim this dramatic push toward freedom and choices. IT’S NOT AN “IT’S COMPLICATED” RELATIONSHIP STATUS HERE YOU’VE NOT PUT IN THE WORK TO EARN THAT AND I RESENT YOU TRYING
Or put another way:
Tumblr media
Anyway, through all of this, the Inners have been trying to reach Usagi, but she caught mono from Mamoru and it’s not working. So the Outers try, and THAT Usagi picks up. Off panel, Rei drains the last of her whiskey, throws the bottle into the wall, and storms out.
Usagi’s wide awake now and reduced to tears that the Outers showed back up again. I know I always feel the same level of emotion when thinking of a reunion with a small group of people I had five conversations with, only one of which was not directly threatening in some way. IT IS THE STUFF FEELINGS ARE MADE OF
Michiru’s mirror reappears, acknowledging her existence and thereby proving itself unique in all the Sailor Moon mangaverse.
Usagi runs outside, only to see Mamoru running to her. He heard her voice calling out to him. I can’t help but think that things would be a lot more bearable if earbuds had been invented.
You know, something I’ve had to deal with hearing a lot since starting this rewatch project is how the characters are so much smarter in the manga.
Tumblr media
The time period between all the Inner Senshi entering that tend and the Outers arriving was, at absolute best, about ten minutes. The Inners were going to the exact same circus show every single day for like two weeks, and the bad guys were laying their global conquest plan WITH THEM RIGHT THERE, so effectively that they could spring it in less time than it takes to watch the average Steven Universe episode, and they still didn’t know what the fuck was going on until someone else told them. I’m not saying the anime had everyone operating at peak observational performance here, I’m just saying I don’t want to hear shit about comparative intelligence again. THE NARRATIVE MAKES CONVENIENT FOOLS OF ALL
Chibs runs through town, noticing how dark it’s getting and how generally shitty Juuban is. Usagi and Mamoru catch up to her, just in time to unite with the other Senshi for ~drama~. Zirconia and Nehellenia appear with my new favourite phrase.
Tumblr media
USE IT AT YOUR LOCAL GROCERY STORE AND ENJOY THE REPERCUSSIONS
Immediately, Usagi coughs up blood and collapses. HARUKA IS ALARMED
Tumblr media
Michiru finishes her wine and moves to the brandy.
Lots of things GLOW and Pegasus answers the call of “could this possibly be less interesting”. He appears out of nowhere and utilizes what is without question the creepiest fucking “good guy” power I have ever seen.
Tumblr media
THE POWER TO MAKE PEOPLE EIGHT YEAR OLDS
GOD I AM SO UNSETTLED RIGHT NOW THAT PEGASUS CAN JUST DO THIS AT WILL
What purpose does this de-aging serve, you ask? WHO THE FUCK KNOWS THE STORY DOESN’T FEEL YOU NEED AN ANSWER TO THAT QUESTION
Then Pegasus fades, and so do Usagi and Mamoru, and the Senshi freak out as they realize that means they have to carry the story on their own. But the issue realizes what a terrible idea that is too, and it shifts to Chibs and Hotaru, who have run off alone to pursue Nehellenia. Why just them? FUCK YOU THAT’S WHY
They encounter the Quartet, and Hotaru spends a not inconsiderable amount of time trying to convince them that they’re really good. I would like to point out how this is the first time literally anyone in this story hasn’t killed a mini-boss on sight, and how nonsensical and contrived it feels because of that. ONCE AGAIN THIS WAS SO FUCKING EASY TO AVOID
Then shit kind of happens I guess, it’s hard to tell. There are orbs and mirrors and people sucked into both. Then I think they go to Nehellenia, or maybe she’s at a rummage sale and delighted by all the savings.
Next time:

The Last Jedi Review (no spoilers)
Last night, a meme enthusiast (https://timelloyd.tumblr.com/) and I saw Star Wars The Last Jedi. It was a belter of a film, and left me with a lot to process. For largely my own benefit in working out how I feel about it, I thought I’d write a review that’s as spoiler free as possible. Having said that, I went into The Last Jedi with a completely open mind, avoiding all spoilers and even all reviews lest my views of the film be tainted in any way by any preconceptions. It’s probably best enjoyed as such, going in with no spoilers and no predetermined ideas. I don’t generally write reviews, and this is, as I said, primarily to order my own thoughts and feelings about the film than it is to praise or damn it or influence anybody else’s opinions, nor is it to show off my stunted command of the written word.
Overall the film was great, I genuinely loved it, and it subverted nearly every expectation I had. It’s one of those films you come away from cinema still thinking about, likely for days afterwards. The ending is very open and I look forward to seeing where episode nine goes. However, it wasn’t perfect, rather it was excellent in spite of its flaws. To compare it to the other recent Star Wars films, the good moments were certainly miles better than The Force Awakens and Rogue One, and it’s a far more original and daring film than either of the others, but unfortunately the bad moments were far worse (for which I largely blame the script as the actual direction of the film was consistently on point), and I think it’s probably a less rewatchable film, although there are some scenes that I could and will watch again and again and again. I’d rate it 4/5, and I certainly recommend watching it. Out of all the new films I’ve seen this year (namely Beauty and the Beast, Logan, Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2, and Wonder Woman), The Last Jedi is easily the best of these (with the only possible exception being Logan, which is at least nearly as good). Also, very importantly, the Porgs aren’t terrible.
As most Star Wars films are, The Last Jedi is broken up into three stories, each of which follows one set of characters. These stories are brought together in the final act in a way that’s bound to satisfy the fans. These stories are best reviewed individually and are as follows:
Story A follows Luke, Rey and Kylo Ren. Luke and Rey begin precisely where they left off in The Force Awakens and have a great on-screen master/student relationship from the off, and Ren fits into this story well and his character is far more compelling than he is in the previous film, and his story in this film ends in a far stronger position. Other characters like Snoke, Chewbacca, the Porgs and R2-D2 also play a role in this story, but it is certainly focused on our trio of Force users. Story A does some of the best demonstrations and explanations of the Force that we’ve seen in the franchise and is beautiful and the strongest story in the film with a stunning conclusion. This story also contains some of the slickest humour in the film, and ultimately, despite a dark and sombre advertising campaign, this results in The Last Jedi in being the funniest film in the franchise in my opinion. Luke is cemented as my favourite character and Mark Hamill’s performance is possibly his greatest yet. I can’t begin to describe how much he steals the show, this really is Luke’s movie, and fans of the character will be very satisfied. There are so many stunning, breath taking, captivating, humourous and meaningful moments in this story. There is very little I’d change or criticise about story A, other than perhaps the development of Rey, and to a lesser extent, Ren, which were slightly odd in and arguably rushed in places, but each character has an incredibly satisfying conclusion. From the cinematography, to the acting, to the script, to the tone and themes, and especially the character development, this story is amazing. If there had been no B or C story, the film would have been just as good, possibly even better in my eyes. There’s a lot to unpack and a lot that happens in this story, and you’ll likely leave the cinema thinking about this one the most. It certainly leaves the biggest footprint on the film and the series as a whole. This story also likely has the most moments that will subvert the fans expectations, and playing the cards as close to the chest as they have done in the marketing for this film has certainly paid dividends. To quote Luke in the trailer, this is not going to go the way you think. I’d rate this story 5/5.
Story B follows Poe Dameron predominantly, but also features Leia and the new character Vice Admiral Holdo, as well as Hux and his new right-hand man to a far lesser extent, as well as C3-P0 to a very minor degree. This story featured some nice action sequences, and every scene Carrie Fisher was in was tantalising, and if nothing else this story does justice to the character of Leia. I also enjoyed how the Resistance are not presented as infallible, and make several mistakes and blunders, and at several points make things worse for themselves, which makes the Resistance more believable and human. Poe Dameron is allowed to shine in this story as well, and his character is developing very nicely, especially given his lack of opportunity in The Force Awakens. I also enjoyed some of the comedy moments, and that Ade Edmondson was indeed in the film in this story, but somewhat disappointed he gets seemingly no comedy moments of his own. Story B certainly isn’t as strong as story A. While some action sequences are spectacular and jaw dropping, others are gratuitous and uninspiring. Some character moments are odd, to say the least, with a great deal of the drama being the result of characters being dishonest or of poor judgement. I was less endeared to Hux and Snoke in The Last Jedi than I was in The Force Awakens, and this is due to the points that the plot took their characters too, but ultimately all ends satisfyingly for them, even if not quite how I’d expected. Some of the dialogue is a little over the top, even by Star Wars standards, and did make me cringe from time to time. A lot of this story is very slow, and outside the action sequences (which as before stated are somewhat hit and miss), very little seems to actually take place, and it does run the risk of being a little dull, but overall, it’s a solidly okay story. Inoffensive, if at certain points unremarkable. Also, just to lay my cards on the table, one slightly divisive character moment for Leia was, in my eyes, an absolute showstopper and I loved it. I’d rate this story 3.5/5.
Story C follows Finn, BB8, and the new characters of Rose and the Man in Black. I did not like this story. It added very little, if anything to the plot, and I did not like the new characters. I found Rose to be nice but superfluous and the Man in Black to be annoying to almost Jar Jar levels and disappointingly underdeveloped, despite a good performance from both actors. I found myself less endeared to Finn and BB8, as Finn’s character progresses oddly and hurriedly, as does the relationship between him and Rose, and BB8 is less quirky and charming than in The Force Awakens and instead is something of a tool in every sense of the word, simply showing up to solve problems whenever the plot demanded while showing little character of his own. It was very different in tone and themes to the rest of the film, and felt more like a mediocre filler episode of Star Trek than a suspenseful plotline in a Star Wars film. Ultimately, filler is probably the best word to describe this story, as well as preachy, underdeveloped, as well as superfluous in terms of what it actually adds to the plot, and everything that it could have added is ultimately undone by the actions of other characters and made redundant. Do feel free to disagree. At two and a half hours in length, The Last Jedi would have benefitted from spending less time on this story and more on the other two, or possibly even cancelling this story and leaving Finn with Poe and co rather than sending him off on his own lacklustre adventure. Finn does have a very good and suspenseful character moment at the end of the film which did have me on the edge of my seat and mirrored the start of the film nicely, but this too is ultimately undone by the actions of others and undermined by a very cliché and preachy messaged. My opinions on this story may change as I re-watch the film, but for this first viewing at least, it hit almost all the wrong notes for me. Unless my opinion changes from rewatching, I’ll likely end up skipping scenes from this story in future viewings. I’d rate this story 2/5.
The Force Awakens followed the Star Wars formula to the letter, and ended with the audience knowing quite well what to expect from the sequel. The Last Jedi completely breaks the mould of the franchise, takes a lot of risks, subverts almost every expectation I had for the franchise moving forwards, and I loved that. I think this film has enough that’s new and daring to appease those who were underwhelmed by the safety of The Force Awakens and Rogue One, with enough reverence for the original trilogy and prequels to satisfy the old school fans. The Last Jedi also has an incredibly open ending and I can’t wait to see where Star Wars goes next. I’m actually somewhat pleased that the next chapter in this trilogy will be directed by J.J. Abrams, because despite all the excellence of The Last Jedi, as I’ve said, I think The Force Awakens was more watchable, more of a traditional Star Wars, even if damnably safely so. Having said that, I am very curious to see where Rian Johnson’s new trilogy will end up taking the fans. Also, I will probably end up buying every piece of Luke Skywalker merchandise I can afford to.

What’s your favorite vs least favorite HP books and movies? My favorite books and films are POA and GOT. And my least favorite books is probably the Deathly Hallows and the Half Blood Prince and the best of the movies are pretty much on the same level for me, though I think the Chambers of Secret and the Half Blood Prince is the ones I like the least.
Ooh, this is an interesting question to answer, thanks for asking!
When it comes to the movies, my favourites aren’t necessarily the ones that I view as being the best but the ones I’ve got more of an attachment to mostly due to rewatching them over and over as a child. So it’s a toss up between the Chamber of Secrets and the Goblet of Fire. I have no idea why these were the two movies I gravitated to most as a child, but I watched them repeatedly and now I have such a nostalgic and fond feeling when I watch them that I think I’ll always consider them as being my favourites.
I remember getting GOF on DVD for Easter from my mom (usually she gets me an Easter egg but I begged and begged and begged her to spend the extra to get me the DVD and managed to win her over) and it was in my DVD player for the next 6 months. I never even took it out I just watched it over and over. GOF wins out as being the best movie for me based on Voldemort’s return alone. The first time I saw that scene I was just in awe and I watched it over and over. The Triwizard Tornament is also an interesting plot that kind of separates it from the other movies in my mind. I also love it because I feel like it’s the turning point where things start to get darker. Chamber of Secrets is a weird one because I’m aware that it’s probably considered the worst movie in the series by most people. I think a lot of it is to do with the fact that it came out when I was 9 years old and when I was just reading the books and really getting into it, so when the new movie came out I fixated on it. I enjoy the lightheartedness of COS that is lost pretty quickly by the time we get to POA and GOF. Harry and Ron stealing the car and getting caught in the Whomping Willow, the introduction of Gilderoy Lockhart and Dobby and the polyjuice potion plot always made me laugh as a kid. But at the same time there was the plot with Ginny and the diary which had me gripped and it introduced us to a new side of Voldemort by showing us Tom Riddle. I just feel like COS is very representative of the childness of Harry Potter which I think gets lost in the later movies and I think watching it as a child that’s why I loved it so much.
As an adult, I developed a love for POA (but as a child it was one of my least favourites out of the movies) because obviously it is amazing. I think POA is so good and well loved because we get to meet Sirius and Lupin and it steps up from COS which as I said was very childlike, to incorporate darker themes. I love the time travel, Buckbeak, The Death Eaters, Sirius’ plot, Harry’s relationship with Lupin, the Marauders Map. Like so many amazing things are introduced or expanded on in this movie and it really is enjoyable pretty much from beginning to end unlike a lot of the others that lose their oomph in parts.
My least favourite movies are basically all of the later ones. I really don’t know why, but I never connected to or enjoyed the later movies in the same way as the early ones (by which I mean the first 4). I feel like by the time we got to OOTP they’d lost that Harry Potter feeling to me. Deathly Hallows part 2 is by far the best movie of the later half of the series because it’s the big finale to everything and payoff for everything that happened. But OOTP, HBP and Deathly Hallows part 1 are all meh to me. I appreciate OOTP for the simple fact that Sirius is in it and I love Sirius, but I feel like nothing at all really happens. HBP is pretty much the same in terms of nothing much happening. When I sit here and think about HPB literally the only thing that comes into my head is “Sir!” because that scene is honestly probably the funniest one across the 8 movies and I still laugh at that now even as an adult. Deathly Hallows part 1 is probably my very least favourite. I can’t recall liking a single thing about that movie. It’s boring, Ron annoys the shit out of me, there’s too much Harry/Ron/Hermione, Dobby dies (will never forgive JKR, why!?) and nothing at all happens. I think all of these movies feel like filler in the build-up to Deathly Hallows part 2 and they’re just so forgettable.
When it comes to the books, it’s harder for me to say which are my favourites and least favourites because I actually haven’t read them since I was at school and I’m sure if I re-read them now as an adult my opinions and tastes would be different. So I’m basing this on my younger self, but the Deathly Hallows is definitely my favourite. Harry Potter as a general book series is well paced but there are times when it bored the shit out of me, but Deathly Hallow really picks up in pace (particularly in the second part). One of my lecturers at uni who’s a huge HP fan was actually talking about her favourite book and she’s convinced that JKR didn’t even write the last one because it was such a huge jump in quality and change in writing style. I can’t say whether or not I agree with that because it’s been a while since I read it, but I do agree that it’s quite a jump in quality.
My least favourite book is ironically GOF. I don’t know how it can be my favourite movie but not my favourite book, but man, that book draaaaaags. Like I said, if I re-read it now maybe I’d appreciate it more because I think the length did just put me off when I was younger. But I think that as the books continued JKR tried to bush the boundaries and see how long she could make the books, but she seemed to forget the target audience was kids and what kid wants to read a book that big? It’s too daunting for a lot of kids.
If I’m being honest (and I’ll probably be burnt on the stake by the HP fandom after saying this) I’m a huge advocate for the movies being equal (if not better) than the books. The books are good to add to your understanding of the movies and learn more about the characters or read about characters that were completely cut out of the movies, but I feel like the movies do an overall good job at depicting the story, particularly considering how limited they are with time in comparison to the books. I think people tend to jump on the bandwagon preaching about how amazing the books are and how they’re so much better than the movies, but in my opinion, it’s simply not true. HP is by far the best series I know that’s been transferred from book to screen and the only downfall I can see of the movies is that they had to cut back on the material in order to condense it down, there are some small inconsistencies due to different directors working on different movies and it restricts people’s imagination by providing visuals (which isn’t an issue if you’re like me and read the books before the movies and have a good imagination anyway). But in terms of overall quality, I don’t think the books are any better than the movies. The two just simply offer different experiences of the story and depending on the person, some will find more enjoyment in the books and others in the movies.
This isn’t me hating on the books either, because I love the story of HP and what JKR created with the HP universe, but I just don’t find her writing to be that compelling. I have tried to re-read the books as an adult, but the truth of the matter is that I just haven’t been able to get through them because they don’t hold my attention. But since I’ve finished the semester I’m determined to give them another go for old time’s sake. I might even start with GOF just to see if my opinion has changed.
Sorry for the long response by the way, I hope I didn’t bore you too much haha.

HTTYD: 2, 22, 69
2. How do you think you’d be different if you grew up on Berk?
As a child, I don’t think I would be that different than I was in this world. I grew up in the countryside, which means I spent most of my days running around the fields and the forest, playing with other kids, climbing trees and getting into fist fights with the kids from my village on a daily basis (nothing serious though, we were all friends). This is exactly what children on Berk do. For some time we were all obsessed with sticks, the longer the better. We would often pretend they’re swords and fight with them. This is another thing that children of Berk probably do, but with actual weapons of course. The only difference would be that in while real life, I was madly obsessed with dogs (I’ve talked about this in the other ask I got a while ago), on Berk it would be with dragons. If my parents wouldn’t let me have one, just like they don’t allow me to have a dog, I would probably run from one viking to another, asking them if I can pretty please play with their dragons, just like I did with dogs. Later, when I was like eleven, I’ve grown to love horses very much. I also took riding lessons, which I LOVED. On Berk I imagine it would be pretty much the same, but again, with dragons. My teenage years would be the only thing that would be very different on Berk. In real life, I barely ever leave my house, except for school of course. I’m stressed all the time and I study a lot. On Berk, it would be exactly the opposite of this. I would probably spend most of the time outdoors, riding dragons and exploring with my best friend. School doesn’t seem to be a thing in HTTYD universe, except for Gobber’s lessons/Pirate Training Programme in the books, but that hardly changes anything, since most of it happens outdoors, with/on dragons.
22. What do you think the dragon riders are like as old women and men?
I’ll assume by dragon riders you mean Hiccup & the gang, not vikings who ride dragons in general. The Thorstons are probably not very different than as teenagers, in their 80’s and still head butting and pranking everybody. Tuffnut becomes Berk’s crazy chicken lady. Let’s face it, The Chicken’s probably going to reproduce at some point.Fishlegs is going to be a walking encyclopaedia. When he gets too old to ride dragons, he’s probably going to spend most of his time writing his knowledge down in books. By the time Hiccup’s old, his children are probably going to take over the chiefing business, and he’s going to have a lot of time to spend with his grandchildren. Unlike Fishlegs, he’s not going to write books about dragons but share his knowledge with his young ones. He’s going to take them to different islands to show them all these amazing dragons. Astrid is going to teach her grandchildren how to use different weapons at WAY too early age. Hiccup is not going to be amused. She is going to be like Valhallarama in the books, a badass dragon riding warrior until the very end. And so is Heather. Her age won’t stop her from being a crazy Berserker, always ready for a battle. She’ll also stay close friends with the gang from Berk for life. When Snotlout gets too old to have any more adventures, he’ll probably be surrounded with children, who want to hear stories about his bravery and all the danger he and his friends faced in their youth. Half of them is going to be made up and the other half absurdly exaggerated, but the children are going to love them all the more for it.
69. What is something you didn’t initially think about but grew to love about HTTYD?
Pretty much the whole franchise lol. I’ve seen the movies several times on a ranch where I spend most of my holidays. We watched a lot of animated movies, since there are lots of children there as well. And although HTTYD were my favourite of all, I never really thought about them until much later. They’re we’re just nice movies with amazing soundtrack, that was all. Then, one night, I had a very vivid dream about me riding a dragon with a bunch of other teenagers. When I woke up, I was really disappointed to find out it was only a dream. But I remembered it was kinda like HTTYD so I decided to rewatch them and when I did, I had no idea why I didn’t appreciate them more before that. I was kind of sad there isn’t a book, though. However, I did find the TV series, and I became obsessed with this franchise.  Then, when I was watching one episode, I suddenly noticed that in the opening credits it says “Based on the books by Cressida Cowell.” When I googled it, I found out there isn’t a trilogy, like I hoped it to be, BUT 12 FREAKING BOOKS. I can honestly say I’ve never been so excited in my life.
But if you want something more specific, I would have to say Ruffnut Thorston. I didn’t pay much attention to her at first and thought her to be the female version of Tuffnut. But I’ve grown really found of her and now she’s my favourite character in the DW Franchise (except for Hookfang, he will always be my #1). She has an amazing sense of humour and is always ready to have fun. She doesn’t make a fool of herself like Tuffnut to be funny, and I believe she’s smarter than him. Despite her brother being an idiot (in a good way), she loves him very much and is ready to do anything for him (she snuck in their enemy’s territory in the middle of the night to get his frickin mace back). She’s badass and exceptionally brave, and no matter how dangerous does the situation get, she never sees it as stressful, but as a fun challenge instead. A dragon who breathes a fiery vortex? Cool, let’s ride inside of it. The whole village is getting destroyed by lightning? Nice, let’s sit back and enjoy the view. Somebody stole her brother’s mace? Burglary time!
Thanks for sending me these, it was really fun to answer them :D Sorry if I got carried away and this whole thing became too long. I’m kinda like trader Johann, to get one thing out of me you need to hear about my whole life story  XD
@ Everyone else: please ask me more! I love answering them.

Tagged by @ishidoshuuji! Thank you for tagging me, because I so rarely get an excuse to talk about Inazuma, even though I love it a lot. Original meme/quiz/whatever they call these now by @revivedandabandonedkids
Also, please forgive me if I slip into the dub names, as I've only actually played the English games and seen the English dub of the anime, not the Japanese original. I'm lame, I know.
- Heya what’s your name :
I'm Sam, with usernames that are variations of three words because apparently that's my thing.
- Favorite character :
Natsumi is my favourite from IE and Kirino is my favourite from GO.
- Favorite arc :
The first games of each IE and GO have a special place in my heart, though as more time goes on the more I appreciate IE2 a lot as well.
- OTP :
Endou/Natsumi, Fubuki/Someoka and Kirino/Shindou are my main three ships. There are others that I like as well, but those are the ones I spend the most time thinking about. Oh yeah, and I secretly ship Kageyama/Hibiki a lot too, but don't tell people. 8D
- BroTP :
Everyone who Endou has ever made friends with x Endou is the best BroTP. Also, any combination of the managers is where I'm at.
- Any ships that everyone ships but you surprisingly don’t (please remember the little // in the ship names so it won’t show up in the tags) :
Gouenji//Fubuki (omg Heather, I thought I was the only person who didn't care for that ship!), Endou//Aki and for some reason I can't seem to get into Endou//Kazemaru as a romantic ship either.
- Favorite hissatsu :
Utter Gutsiness Catch, because I am a five year old apparently. But for real, any special move that Fubuki does will probably be my favourite because they're so pretty.
- What about combination hissatsu :
Wyvern Blizzard, because it's my OTP's special move together! But also Dead Future is weirdly pretty.
- Favorite Keishin:
I have a soft spot for Sousha Maestro, but I don't think I actually have a favourite yet.
- Favorite Mixi-max (I bet you were expecting this) :
A tie between Kirino & Joan and Kinako & Master Dragon
- Favorite Soul (you’re right I don’t have any excuses for this ) :
Since Galaxy was never realised in the UK and I haven't gotten that far in the anime yet I haven't seen any of the souls, so I can't answer this one. ;_;
- Favorite forward (LOL THERE’S MORE) :
There's so many good ones! But I guess if I had to pick just one it'd probably be Tsurugi. Though of course I love Gouenji and Shindou as well.
- Favorite mid-fielder (I know this is getting old okay) :
Kidou and Tenma.
- Favorite defender (Almost done…):
Kirino, Fubuki, Touko and Kabeyama.
- Favorite goalkeeper (Not my fault there are so many positions) :
Well, Endou is a given of course, but I grew to like Tachimukai a lot when I watched the anime as well.
- Favorite manager/girl player (actually, all girls in general) :
Natsumi is my all time favourite, but I basically love all of the girls. If I had to pick out just a few of them then I'd also say Rika, Touko, Akane and, oh yeah, Kazeaki Yone is an unsung hero.
- Favorite team :
All of the main teams are my precious babies, especially when Someoka is there.
- Favorite team uniform :
The one where they're basically just dressed as school girls. You can be damn sure that whenever I unlock that uniform in any of the games I switch them into it as soon as possible.
- Which movie is the best :
I haven't seen any of the movies yet. But I do mean to! Right now I'm rewatching Digimon Adventure 01 & 02 (maybe Tamers as well), but I hope to eventually get back to where I left off with watching Inazuma.
- Prettiest character :
They are all too pretty, it wouldn't be fair for me to- ...okay, Kageyama, because no one can compete with him. 8D
- Most handsome :
Someoka~!
- Best hairstyle:
Natsumi and Kirino. I'm sorry, but I'm biased towards my faves.
- Do you think it takes more hairgel to style Tenma’s, Alpha’s, or Tobitaka’s hair :
Tobitaka, because he's obviously using so many products all the time, given how much he cares about his hair. Also, I believe that Tenma just wakes up in the morning with his hair looking like that and I don't know how he does it.
- Whose hair takes the most time to manage :
I've never put any thought into it, but given how much we see Tobitaka actually managing his hair I'll go for him again.
- Who would you most want to see with their hair down (sorry for all the hair-relatedness) :
Anyone, because I like seeing characters with their hair down.
- That OP/ED that keeps replaying over and over again in your mind :
I've only seen the dub. You understand my pain.
- That character song that is way too catchy for its own good :
Oh cool, I should listen to some of these one day.
- Raimon or Teikoku :
Raimon, because it's Endou's base of operations where he adopts preferred members of other teams into his friendship harem.
- Ultimate Shining or Ancient Dark :
Ancient Dark as a team, but I prefer Shine as a game because it has EnNatsu and also I'm slightly more interested in Hiroto than Kazemaru.
- IE or IE GO:
Honestly, I like both a lot.
- Taiyou or Taiyou (hint: The answer is Taiyou):
Taiyou is amazing! I love his Irish accent in the English games and he's completely the reason why I played Wildfire first out of those two versions.
- Fubuki post-personality-disorder or merged:
Post, because he's happier and at peace with himself. Though I do admit that I found the whole situation leading up to it interesting.
- Hang out with Rika or Touko :
I assume that if you hang out with one then you'll probably end up hanging out with the other anyway, but if I had to pick just one then I'd probably go with Touko. I love Rika, but she seems like a lot of work to hang out with.
- Yank Tsurugi’s ponytail or Fei’s :
Tsurugi’s because he deserves to suffer more.
- Kageyama Tobio Reiji or Kuroiwa Ryuusei :
MY SON IS PERFECT IN ALL HIS FORMS.
- Quick! Kiss Cliff Marry. Shindou, Kariya, Kinako :
I would rather just protect all three of them forever. They are my precious children.
- Which is more amazing, the fact that the ball doesn’t pop or the goal doesn’t get torn through :
The goal not getting torn through! In fact, I always feel a little disappointed that when I do a super powerful move that it doesn't show the goal just getting destroyed.
- Why don’t they ever get yellow/red cards????? :
Either because everyone is actually afraid of them or because no one really understands how the game works in this universe anyway.
- Eat a soda popsicle with Suzuno or plant a tulip with Nagumo :
Either? I'm not that fussed out these two if I'm honest.
- Be a forward with a defense technique or a defender with a shooting technique :
Defender with a long shot technique - stealing this answer, because yes.
- Who do you think Endou should really end up with :
I was totally shipping Endou with Natsumi ever since I finished the first game, because I thought they balanced each other out nicely. So when I found out he does get married to Natsumi in one universe I was pleasantly surprised, usually my OTPs never gets to be canon! But I do also support his marriage to Fuyuka in the other universe too. Other characters I'd be happy for Endou to end up with include Kidou, Gouenji and Touko.
- Yes or No, Afuro Terumi :
Sure?
- Sacca yarouze? :
I'm filthy English dub scum so I dunno what that means.
- Anything you wanna praise the series for :
The English dub of the games bringing in so many different UK regional accents that I rarely see in media is what makes me smile to my soul. But I'm also going to steal the answer that it made me care a lot for a series about a sport I have no interest in and also showed me that I can call many, many fictional characters my children in the same series.
- Anything you wanna complain about the series (don’t worry we all know it’s not real hate here) :
Eh, it has similar problems to a lot of kids' shonen series, but I love it anyway.
- Got any IE merch (yes I’m offering you bragging rights) :
I have a few of the small figure sets that included characters I like, but I did want to get more of them. Maybe I'll get more some day.
- What do you think about Ares no Tenbin :
Cautiously optimistic? On one hand I am a little sad that all the developments I liked are being erased, though I guess they'll still exist in the other universes. But on the other hand I am curious enough to pick up the game anyway, if it actually gets a UK release... I would have also rather that they went with an entirely new cast, but I am hopeful that maybe we might get some more SomeFubu interaction this way. Please let me have that much.
- 3 things you love about the IE fandom :
Sadly, I've not experienced much of the fandom, but from what I have seen I love how creative the fans are, how good their sense of humour is about nothing in this series making sense and how they've held on after so many years - as a Layton fan I understand how difficult that can be!
- 1 thing you would like to say to the IE community (fandom, producers, etc.) :
Please don't bash Natsumi, she is my precious daughter and I love her. ;_;
- What do you think about the creator of this whole post (I know. I’m lame. I’m sorry.) :
You made a super fun ask meme that got me thinking about this series so much that I want to get back to watching the anime again as soon as I can!
