BUT CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW EVERYTHING JESS BECAME LATER ON IS BECAUSE RORY INSPIRED HIM???? SHE TOLD HIM HE COULD BE AND DO ANYTHING HE WANTED TO AND HE BECAME A BETTER PERSON BECAUSE OF HER!!!!! I AM SOBBING HONESTLY!!!!! HE WROTE A BOOK ALL BECAUSE OF HER INFLUENCE AND BELIEF IN HIM!!!!!
I hate the ending of A Year in the Life. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it.
I get what ASP was going for with the whole full circle thing but it was stupid.
Why does Rory need to repeat her mother’s mistakes? Why can’t she learn from them instead? Why does she need her own version of a Christopher, or even her own version of a Luke? Why can’t she be her own person and have her own relationships and make her own choices that don’t mirror her mother’s?
Also, why can’t ASP just make her characters happy? Why do they have to be complicated? I get for plot’s sake, but there was no need to make the end of AYITL happen. Why did it need to be a cliffhanger? There’s most likely not going to be another one, so she didn’t need to make things interesting for the plot. Why not just make your characters happy for once?
“So what would you say if a dirty old man asked you to accompany him home for drinks?”
Without missing a beat, she replied smartly, “I’d tell him he’s outta luck cause I’m going home with a handsome older detective,” she pulled open the waiting cab door, “and skipping the drinks.” Then she climbed into the car, leaving the door open for him to follow.
