The lack of interest of people in changing the world around them pains me.
If you are a teen activist/do care about the world we live in and want to change it even if it's a little bit please interact with this post ;-;

Genuinely hate being an American. The amount of pro-israel propaganda is insane. The knowledge that my tax money is going towards funding genocide makes me feel fucking livid. And no matter how many people protest it, they won't fucking Listen to us.
"Free country" my ass. Why can one man just decide to bomb another country without congressional agreement? You don't fucking represent me. Stop supporting the genocide!!!!!

Biden will lose this year because of his support of genocide. He is literally the only reason it is still happening, and that is transparent to the American people. You better find another candidate to back, now.

I think this really just hits the nail on the head of this whole shit, honestly, like if you cannot draw the line at funding genocide then what are your morals? What incentive dobyour politicians have to do something good if they'll be elected anyway no matter what they do? How are the very real lives of millions of people outside of your imperial core just... Nothing... To you? How is it more important for us to understand a politician in murica has to avoid political suicide than it is for citizens to see - again of all thing of ALL things of ALL THINGS - to see genocide as the one thing you don't just let pass? Do you ever think beyond your myopic lens? Put pressure on the democrats to force them to put forward a better candidate if they want your vote instead of sending out the message that they have some sort of political immunity. Of course your vote is important so go ahead and hold it hostage because that's the only bargaining chip you have other than direct action. Idk it's so tone deaf and it's making me sick to have to see Americans talk about politics at home like it's all rhetorical and abstract and hand-wring about their leaders there is blood on those hands if not this then what? What would a person have to do to lose your unwavering support? Any person, any politician at all, what is the One Thing they would have to do for you to say "yeah I can no longer ideologically support this man or send out a message in any way that this was acceptable" what would that one thing be? Do you have that One Thing? Do you have principles? Does your mercy extend to the rest of us in this bitch of a planet? Good fucking God, it's sickening to see how blasé American citizens are about this subtle and constant dehumanising, where the rest of the world just becomes "global issues" for you to debate.

Israel’s PR team working 24/7 to do the impossible. Give it up boys, you can just go ahead and say you’re going to commit genocide and every war crime in the book, it’s not like the west will lift a finger to stop it, matter of fact it’ll lift many fingers to fund it.

I love how, at least according to his hair chart, Micky never did Honest Hearts. Dude really just inhaled poisoned gas while bomb collared, got his brain, heart, and spine took out of his body by robots, and rediscovered his tragic past of accidentally getting his hometown nuked, but noped tf out of that weird racist Mormon shitshow. Good for him
I actually have where if he does do honest hearts, its likely in a lull during the main game, cause it just doesn't really fit with the overarching plot of sorts he has goin post game with following Ulysses' trail and his own past through dead money -> old world blues -> lonesome road I also just do not want to acknowledge the racist shitshow we got in the actual game. Ages ago I saw an excellent post by an indigenous creator on here about how they would adjust honest hearts to be, well, not a racist shitshow, that I unfortunately have not been able to find again or I’d link it here (the jist was make the white legs and sorrows be just post apocalyptic communities and not 'tribes' because they don't have native american origins, and have the dead horses just be Diné (Navajo), as well as give pretty much all the groups more agency away from joshua graham and daniel. As well as just reworking pretty much everything to do with joshua's story because that is just a mess) If Micky ever participated in the story of Honest Hearts, I'd want it to be something along the lines of what was laid out in that post, because the version we got in the game is just so frankly reprehensible wrt to its racism against indigenous people in general and native americans in specific I refuse to engage with it again
#courier micky#to even mention that the plot of honest hearts as we got it was just narratively unsatisfying feels so laughably minor a gripe#vs the incredible amount of offensive stereotypes erasure appropriation and white savioring on display#that I couldn't bring myself to put it into the main post#but I will mention it down here that the main story just wasn't very good#it felt too much like a cut and paste white savior narrative and trying too hard to show why the bacon mormon was a good guy now actually#that it lost any depth and had nothing compelling to say#which is further highlighted by the fact that honest hearts has one of my favorite stories in all of video games in it#that of randall clark- the survivalist and the father in the caves#a plot so good that I think there could be something worth salvaging in the dlc if you were to rework it from the ground up#which is the only reason I would want micky to interact with it at all even as an alternate take#also a moment for how laughably racist it is to assume that native american cultures that have survived outright genocide couldn't make it#300 years post the bombs dropping#without becoming completely unrecognizable#meanwhile we have America 2.0 Bear Flag Republic Edition and Ancient Rome Larpers duking it out over a restored to function dam#if the fucking mormons could stick around I think the dine (just picture the accent on the end idk how to type it in) would be just fine#('but you got the accent in the main post-' i copy pasted it from google)

I think it's good to highlight that the amount of money the US is spending to conduct a genocide in Palestine could instead easily be used to house every homeless person in america or socialize healthcare or cancel student debt, because this helps demonstrate to people how little the US government gives a shit about you, but even if the US cancelled its billions of dollars in aid to Israel right now and diverted all that money into creating a massive welfare state for every american, it would still be a horrifically evil imperial country. the mountain of wealth it rests on top of was produced by the process of settler colonialism and genocide and slavery - the US is a big reason why "the global south" exists as a geopolitical category at all - and hoarding these resources domestically would not suddenly make it a just state. I think it's important when making these arguments that our ultimate conclusion isn't that the US should just become a western european welfare state while leaving the current system of imperial inequality enact. that is not the road that will lead to a decolonized Palestine because decolonialism is not merely the absence of imperial aid, it is the destruction of the system that allows a country to extract, hoard, and then spend billions of dollars on missiles and tanks and guns to conduct genocide in the first place

Fundamentally, if the democrats lose the presidency in 2024, it will not be because of "voter apathy" or "the idealistic left" or Cornell West or whatever third party candidate the liberals end up blaming. It will be because the democrats have failed to meet the lowest standards of many Americans.
You can talk about strategic voting until you're blue in the face, but fundamentally, people need reasons to vote for a candidate. There are people in this country watching as their family members get slaughtered by American arms, sent to Israel by Joe Biden. The people watching their families get murdered in Palestine have no reason to support Joe Biden. How can you ask them to?
"Sorry your family got bombed, but I need you to vote for the man who is directly responsible, or *real* people are going to suffer too."
It was at this point While I was drafting this post that I heard he just started bombing Yemen. It's like he's doing everything in his power to sink his own fucking campaign, are you shitting me? This isn't a matter of "stupid commies not being realistic enough", he's not just working for the status quo; just about every action he has taken since October 7th has been an escalation of conflict in the Middle East and made it worse for everyone living there. This is exactly what I'm talking about.
You can scold people for voting wrong as much as you want, but fundamentally the way that democrats can win elections is by pursuing good policy. If the only argument you can come up with in favor of Joe Biden is that he won't do 1 or 2 of the terrible things that Trump wants to do, then that will simply not appeal to the people who are most intensely affected by Biden's failures (not to mention people who have moral objections to genocide, even when it doesn't affect them). You can scream and cry all you want, people are not going to just overlook his role in the ethnic cleansing of Gaza just because he is the Less Bad Genocider.
If a republican wins the presidency in November, you can blame the hundreds of thousands of voters/nonvoters who should've agreed with you and put aside every moral concern they ever had about the Biden administration... or you can blame the one fucking guy whose massive foreign policy failures are going to tank his re-election campaign.

caramel swirl pumpkin pie
Tumblr media Tumblr media
okay i don't usually post recipes on here BUT i ran out of characters on instagram and i don't technically have a recipe blog, and i wanted to share this with everyone, especially with the holidays coming up, because it came out baller. recipe under the cut:
caramel swirl pumpkin pie
ingredients: for the caramel swirl: 1 cup granulated sugar 1/2 cup cream (room temperature) 1/2 tsp vanilla extract 3 to 4 tbs salted butter (room temperature)
for the pumpkin base: 2 cups pumpkin puree 3 eggs (room temperature) 1/2 cup cream (room temperature) 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 1/4 tsp ginger 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/8 tsp allspice 1 tsp vanilla extract
your favorite 9 inch pie crust
directions: in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the sugar. do not mix this with any type of spoon or utensil because it will clump up the sides and onto the utensil and never ever come together. instead, keep the sugar moving by shaking or gently swirling the pan every minute or so as the sugar starts to melt and brown. don't be tempted to raise the heat: this will take a long time to get going but it will QUICKLY burn if you do. in fact, you must keep an eye on it and keep it moving regularly in order to prevent it from burning even on medium-low
as soon as the sugar is fully melted and little to no clumps remain, add the cream and turn the heat up to medium. stir carefully and slowly with a small whisk, the sugar will harden and then melt into the cream over the course of a few minutes. one it's fully integrated, cut the heat and remove the pan from the hot stove. add 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract and whisk to combine. then, add your butter in half a tbsp at a time, whisking thoroughly and constantly between each so that each added pat is fully melted and combined before adding the next one. continue until the sauce looks thick and glossy.
pour the caramel into a heat safe jar, and set aside. you will be tempted to lick the whisk, DO NOT. it's still hot enough to melt the inside of your mouth right off.
preheat your oven to 350 degrees F
in a large bowl, whisk the three eggs until uniform, then add the pumpkin, cream, vanilla extract, spices, and brown sugar. whisk until thoroughly combined and smooth. the batter will be a bit thicker than average, we want this.
place your pie crust onto a baking sheet, and then pour your pumpkin pie base into it.
using a dinner spoon, dot and drizzle about 3/4 of the caramel sauce across the top of the batter, leaving some spaces bare and some spaces with caramel. swirl the caramel through the pie by gently dragging the tip of a butter knife through the center of each dot, moving in a zig-zagging or circular motion, until the pie looks as swirled as you'd like. be careful not to over-swirl, as that will simply result in the topping becoming mixed in.
place into the center of your preheated oven, and let bake for 50 to 60 minutes. when the pie is done, it will look wet in the center, but will not jiggle very much when the sheet tray is jostled. it will jiggle perhaps a very little bit, only.
remove the entire tray to a cooling rack and allow to cool on a counter undisturbed for two hours before storing covered in the refrigerator. serve chilled or at room-temperature, with an optional dressing of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
