Hello hello everyone !
Woah it's been a while that I haven't wrote anything there, since I generally use tumblr rather than twitter for longer posts. So, yup…today is one of those days where I need to share a wall of text xD
As some of you surely already know, I attempted to dev Fujiwara:REmake with RPGmaker because of the aspect of walking around and the system of shop/items which was really appealing to me. This was two of the main reasons I switched from Ren'Py to RPGmaker and it was very fun and fullfilling at first as I learned a good amount of new things, but…unfortunately, the more I worked on it, the more I started to struggle and get frustrated with things that my current skills can't cover.
I thought of going on hiatus for the time I'd learn a bunch of advanced features to make the game visually more enjoyable, but I realized it would take an awfully long time to do so until I can present something decent and in sync with what I have in mind. I'm sure most of you don't want to wait who knows more time for this project to be released. So it's a bit reluctantly and disappointed that I decided to go back to Ren'Py, as I'm more familiar with it and that it would also means I'll work faster. I'm really sincerely sorry for all of you who were excited to play a RPGmaker version of Fujiwara (you'll still be able to interact with your surrounding though !), but I really need to go back on a more visual novel type of game for the sake of the project. I hope you'll understand and continue looking forward for Fuji:RE when it's finally completed !

The long-awaited update to Book One is finally here!
A ton of new & high requested features are now available, including:
Art style selection between "style a" and "style b" for more consistency than the previous version
A male MC variation
Pronoun selection (she/her, he/him, and they/them)
Optional voice acting for Xani / the MC provided by Jessica Spencer (feminine voice) and Jerron Bacat (masculine voice)
Extra scenes & options to build romance prior to the endings

Art Updates:
The number one requested feature / update was more art style consistency. A lot of people found it off-putting that the style of the CGs was so different from the sprites. While Momoriin, the original sprite artist, was unavailable to work on CGs, the help of amazing artists Drulle and Saigogogo has allowed for a new version of CGs that match more seamlessly with the original sprites.
For those who already love the CG artstyle, you can select "style b" to see sprites & CGs both by the lovely artist who did the original scenes, Mintstea! You can also switch between the two styles at any time during gameplay, and both styles of any unlocked CG can be viewed from the gallery menu.

Main Character Variation:
As unlocked by our amazing Kickstarter backers, you can now play as a male/masculine version of the protagonist! It was highly requested that pronouns be interchangeable, and indeed they are. You can switch the protagonist's appearance, voice, etc at any time while you play the game.
This difference is not just cosmetic. A lot of scenes (especially in Clive's route and the upcoming Book Two release which includes Shannon's route) have dialogue and choice variations depending on which version of the protagonist you play as. And if you want to take it a step further, you can also turn on option MC voicing as well!
Upcoming Price Structure Change:
After the unfortunate incident that went on recently (detailed here), I've made the decision to change the price structure. But rest assured, anyone who got Book One prior to this change will still have access to the upcoming DLC for free. I'm in contact with Steam support to get this arranged, which will essentially mean anyone who has Book One right now will get access to a free DLC package, while anyone obtaining a copy after the change will get access to the paid DLC package. 
But the good news: that means anyone who hasn't yet picked up Book One because they couldn't afford a copy can get ahold of it for free! And if you like it, you can buy the future releases. <3
Book Two Progress Report:
First off, I want to offer a huge apology for the release delay. A lot has been happening, both in my personal life, general health, and my work life. As the sole writer of Heart Fragment aside from a few additional scenes provided by Nico H (developer of Entropic Float), any issues that I face directly impact the speed I can work at.
Book Two: Belief Fragments will still be available this summer (2022). Lana's route is finished aside from end programming + beta testing, and Shannon's is nearly finished being written and will then be moved into the programming stage as well. I really appreciate your patience with me!

HEEEEEELLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Lol. I have no reason for shouting like that. Maybe I’m trying to compensate for the uh, somber tone of the last update? Y’all, at the risk of being too transparent, being mentally ill is a full-time unpaid job and I am broke 😭
To everyone who reached out in various ways after said last update, thank you. Truly. I know a lot of the community haunts the Twitter and Discords spheres, but it’s nice to find support here on Tumblr. Also also ALSO to the devs who share their struggles on here and get a little personal sometimes??? I read those posts and hug them to my chest and imagine I’m giving you a big hug too because wow you guys are awesome and you give me a little strength to be awesome too. Or fake at being awesome lol.
So. What’s good y’all?? I’m going to try and keep this HSDJY related but sometimes I get off track. As y’all are aware!
I finally through up an updated/cleaned up version of the demo that I believe truly reflects HSDJY’s current state and can now rest easy about not having to touch it again. I threw it up without fanfare, but I guess people noticed because the download number shot up???
 I also got another beta build to my testers and I’m hoping to get 2 more before/within early August.** If anything, this process has taught me that Butler and the upload process are not the scary monster under the bed. What an actual relief. 
Bonus content/epilogues that I mentioned I’ve been working on? Issa mess guys. I’m still in the same place progress wise I was whenever I last gave y’all an update. And with us shimmying over to August, and with me trying to have all my ducks in a row by September 30th (that is a hard set, self-deadline btw), it’s becoming a game of deciding where to divert my remaining energies. I’ve still got key art I need to straighten out with my artist, credits to finalize (beta testing is FUNNY because do people really not want to be credited for their efforts??? Some of them are scaring me guys, just gimme a fake name 😭 I was actually stressing out over this with my dad and sister, and my dad’s like just do a general thank you and my brain just 🤯 because he’s right.)
I haven’t done any hard work when it comes to marketing my game, partly because of Events, and partly because I’m chicken, but I’d like to start reaching out to streamers. I mean...if I put something in a dev log, now I’m accountable right?????

**pretend this is a footnote. GUYSSSS I was so anxious and physically sick about doing testing, that when I got the interest, I thought my crocodile brain had overreacted. again. well jokes on me because many of my fears weren’t unfounded and I had to reach out to others to ask if they had some time on their hands to help me out. I think the next time I enter testing, I will look to do it internally because...people have lives, things happen, and it’s a bit easier (to me) to follow up with people you’re acquainted with over strangers lol.

—an interactive urban fantasy visual novel
Welcome to Rhineway, a bloated metropolis of gentrification and commercialization, where the undesirables are pushed to its outskirts, kept cleanly out of sight. But the city still feels the weight of the government's greed. Crime grows by the day, bolstered by ranks of the desperate and downtrodden ignored by the very system meant to protect them.
Needless to say, the government-run superhero program has been met with mixed reactions from the public. Are superheroes the new boys in blue - or just the newest entertainment in a world where everything is designed to serve a market?
As an unregistered citizen living just outside Rhineway's slums, none of this has ever truly affected your day-to-day life.
Until now.
Amidst the flames of a job fair gone horribly wrong, armed only with your overdue rent, a hungry cat, and healing powers that seem to be useful for - at best - patching up scrapes and bruises, you've been recruited to join a prestigious superhero agency.
You're hardly a hero - you could do little more than duck for cover when your unhinged 10th grade science teacher finally snapped and set fire (literally) to the last chance you had at securing a ‘normal’ career.
But a superhero’s salary is good. Beyond good. Too good to turn down.

Making Replays Comfier
As I prep the Made Marion prologue for our incoming pilot beta test (beta backers, look for an e-mail soon!), I've added a few features that should make life easier and more comfortable for replays.
First, players will be able to skip over most of the prologue in subsequent playthroughs. Once you've read to the end of the prologue once, you will receive this menu whenever you start a new game:

As you can see, you'll be able to play everything from scratch, skip the lore intro, or skip directly to the important choices at the end of the prologue.
Have you ever been skipping through a visual novel on replay, only to get to a choice and be unable to remember what it's about? I'd like to help readers with that, so I've added a prompt in the text box below every choice to jog your memory.

There's the first choice in the prologue. If you're reading along for the first time, you'll already know that you've just been insulted by a messenger. But if you're re-playing and skipping read text, the prompt might be a nice reminder.
Finally, one feature we've always had is that sound effects will not play while you're skipping. Made Marion's action scenes are peppered with a variety of creaks, thumps, sword swings, arrow swooshes, horse neighs, etc. They will only play when you're not skipping the text, so you won't be barraged by NEIGH-THUMP-CLING-CLANG-KNOCK-KNOCK-KNOCK while skipping. You're welcome! :D
