i wanna talk about haymitch abernathy.

well, first i wanna talk about the treatment of chemical addiction in the hunger games trilogy. because it's good. a lot of characters, including katniss, struggle with it. it gets explored in considerable depth, and not once is any character looked down on for it (well, aside from some eye-rolling with haymitch and perhaps pity for the 'morphlings' in book 2).

no one is infantilized, dehumanized, or considered weak for their dependency, even when they're incoherent from inebriation or withrawal. addicts are treated with dignity, and there is only ever respect, understanding, and sympathy for their struggle and for the trauma that led them to this position. the story has no interest in scrutinizing how they got there or whether their behavior is sufficiently justified, only in meeting them where they are.

everyone has suffered at the hands of the capitol, and some people have resorted to substances to cope--even and especially smart, competent people. it's unfortunate and painful for them (and the focus is always on the addict's suffering, not anyone else's) but it's always understood as doing what they had to do. survival is a crucial theme in these books, and this is just another form of it.

this understanding extends to the point that katniss and peeta independently hoard liquor in case haymitch runs out. he's fucking annoying and rude and at that point they have no reason to believe they stand to gain anything from helping him, but they do it anyway because abandoning him would be cruel. it's not ever a question of enabling an alcoholic, it's a question of not letting a man fucking die of withdrawal.

see, rough around the edges is an insufficient description for haymitch; he's rough all the way to the middle. he is a messy, sloppy drunk. he is rude, obnoxious, and venomously cynical. he is also the smartest character in a series full of extremely smart characters.

in the first book all that is said about haymitch's victory is speculation from katniss and peeta. they note that he isnt a standout physical talent and doesnt have any specialized abilities, and deduce that he must have won by outsmarting the others. this is innocuous enough and supported by the shrewdness of haymitch's sponsor gifts and his coaching outside the games.

the recontextualization comes in book 2 when we learn haymitch was the victor of the 50th hunger games, the last quarter quell--which had twice as many tributes as usual. haymitch didn't outsmart 23 other people, up to a third of them having trained for this exact purpose until age 17. haymitch outsmarted 47.

haymitch abernathy? is a big fucking deal. that man waltzed in from The underdog district, unmentored and presumably earning approximately zero sponsor gifts with his winning personality, and won the hardest hunger games there has ever been. haymitch is the most impressive bitch in panem. between this and our increasing insight into how the victors are treated, the alcoholism gets recontextualized too.

imagine how frothingly fucking pissed the capitol is that haymitch is impossible to leverage for any PR purpose whatsoever. like, this is The victor, but what are they gonna do? show off the victor of the hardest hunger games of all time and he's fucking haymitch?

he shows up to every public appearance fall-down drunk and pukes on someone's shoes. every time he's on screen he embarrasses everyone. he makes the hunger games look like a joke and undermines the whole premise. he's supposed to be the capitol's biggest asset and he's pissed all over it. he's useless to them. the best thing they can do is leave him alone.

that's when you think, wait. that's kind of a rebellion in itself, huh? he defies the capitol's efforts to use him as 'a piece in their game' better than anyone else outside district 13, maybe them too, when he should be their favored pawn. he's about as free of their influence as anyone can be. that seems... smart. haymitch-typical smart.

haymitch's alcoholism is real and no doubt a legitimate result of his trauma, but it's also a weapon. he probably plays it up. gets extra trashed for every public appearance, the earlier in the day the better. asks himself what he could do that would horrify effie trinket the most and then does that.

at the same time, haymitch seems to get it together more as the series goes on. from the sound of it he was content to drink himself to death and blow off every tribute in his district before katniss and peeta came along and he recognized in them the potential for revolutionaries and, more importantly, the potential for victors. for the first time he had a real chance to achieve a goal, and the real necessity to be sharp for it.

my guess is that haymitch started making actual efforts to manage his alcoholism from then on. getting sober is pretty much impossible to do on your own, and indeed he has a relapse for every time he improves. but haymitch would have known he'd need any scrap of competence he could snatch. and i think, away from our heroine's perspective, he did. you can play drunk for a camera; you can't play sober for a planning session.

the one thing that really helps with addiction is a support network, and that's the one thing haymitch can never have. it is made blisteringly clear that your loved ones are so much ammunition for the capitol to use against you, and they desperately need some for haymitch. he says his loved ones are all dead, but one wonders if there were more that he made damn sure were no longer loved ones before that happened. maybe haymitch saved some lives by driving people as far away as he could, and doomed himself to succumb to the alcoholism in the process.

on a sillier note, i imagine during katniss and peeta's games haymitch would have needed someone to manage his intake and keep him sober enough to strategize the sponsorships without sending him into withdrawal. and i like to think it was effie trinket.

she'd disapprove at first but dosages and scheduling would be her JAM. plus haymitch would always cave in to her sanctimonious lectures before she caved in to his demands for more. it would be really motivating, actually--"i can endure this. anything's better than hearing one more fucking word from effie goddamn trinket about my health." truly the dream team.

tl;dr i fucking love haymitch abernathy. he's one of the characters of all time. thank you, suzanne collins, for this smart, competent, callous, mean, complex alcoholic who is vital to the revolution. thank you for writing addicts and addiction with the depth, seriousness, complexity, and respect they deserve as human beings.

Bigger bodies:

Kickin' breathes Ylang ylang gas like how Catnap does to the Red Smoke

Ylang ylang gas is colored creamy yellow. It can also make anyone within the vicinity to fall asleep. And like Catnap, he can control the dream you are having

His gas can boost confidence (bigger bodies) and his plush is ideal for timid children (toy)

Despite the cramped up spaces,Kickin's bigger bodies can fly, although low range like a real life chicken/rooster

When he roars, he can emit the caw sounds of an aggressive rooster, mixed with deep growling

Like Catnap and Dogday, he can speak. I imagine his voice to be the raspy and a little static version of a young man's voice. His voice is a little high pitched compared to Catnap's and Dogday's voices. Also, before the hour of joy, his voice box was in perfect condition (unlike CatNap's whose voice box is broken before and after the massacre) And now his voice, although has a little static, is still functional and can speak steadily. (If only he was alive in the game😞)

He lurks around the caverns area

His jumpscare would be jumping on you with his talons pointed at you, his wings wide and his caw deafening your ears. Kind of like how birds of prey hunt and pin down their food

He is the only smiling critter who can walk on two. I know Catnap can stand on two legs but he's mostly on four. So KC is the only one who walks and run on two. Tho he can also walk on 4 if he's crawling or crouching

Cartoon:

He LOVES to comb his feather crown and owns various shades

Kickin chicken may be shown in the cartoons to eat bugs occasionally, which the others will be weirded out. Pickypiggy smiles and gives him a thumbs up, attempting to support him whilst smiling awkwardly and sweating bullets. Kickin offered her to eat but she immediately shook her head 😆 he eats with pride✨

Other than that, he likes any pastry food and leafy greens, ice cream and wafers

He can sing and play the guitar. He likes to listen to pop music

After doing activities cool kids do, he likes to rest on hammocks, specifically the ones made in rattan and net

He cried watching the Titanic movie or any tragic romance in general

He's a gentleman who can cry because of movies💅

He joins in to the girls' make up sessions, sometimes dragging catnap, bubba and dogday in whenever the girls hunt for make-up models

He's optimistic and refuses to let the negative things keep him down, he can also be stubborn at times and doesnt think about the consequences (which causes him trouble)

He's the loud, supportive type of friend, shouting shit like "You can do it!!" Watch out for aggressive positivity XD (the difference between him and dogday's attitude is that dogday is a more gentler version of his positivity, but can also as get loud and supportive as kickin is) He's also the type to not read the room and sometimes shout supportive words in the wrong time (for comedic purpose lol)

He likes comics, manga, anime and animated shows

thoughts AND feelings! Oh the joy of being given a chance for a hot second to discuss this. You came to the right place my love. ❤️

Trigger and age warning : rape, sex connected trauma, dissociation, psychological abuse, controlling relationships, discussion of sexual acts.

Okay so, being hyper sexual. You know who does that in the books? Andrew actually. I know some might look at me weirdly rn like, 'what the hell are you talking about, he doesn't let anyone touch him'. Yeah, that's true! But that doesnt take away from the knee jerk reaction. (I'm sorry I know this isn't exactly what you asked but I need to discuss andrew first, and that has a lot to do with jean, bear with me).

Andrew finds a partner that he can to some limit trust (leverage, deals, careful observation, "training" them to behave how he tells them) to follow his instructions, which gives him a sense of control. They can fuck, but it's him who's doing it. It's him who's touching, kissing ect. The other person, of course if they consent, get to partake but not create the experience. It's one of the very, very valid scenarios of hyper sexuality as a responce to rape. He is rewriting every poisoned nerve ending in his body. He doesn't actually get off from the sex. For his own release he needs privacy, as shown in the books. Andrew's problem can be, that due to his truly inhumane trauma he can fall into the mindset of defining his sense of self through sex. It's an action and he's a tool in this scenario. Then again, We circle back to control, which is also a key feature of his decisions and protectiveness. Taking total control of the situation which used to be utterly outside of it, with no way out of it. Rewriting it, giving the traumatic experience a positive ending, hell an ending - when, and as suddenly as he might want it to end, is the motivator here. I think what he finds satisfying in terms of sex, not control, is giving sexual consent to his partners and, which he finds just as important, them giving it to him. Because it wasn't given to him. It's a way of building trust.

The motivations sound pretty nice, even if heartbreaking, don't they? Seem uplifting? The problem is, even if in good faith, this process can be very harmful, trauma surviviors mention that (at least ones I discussed it with personally) it feels good, but in the long run it does what this type of coping mechanism always does to your brain (similiar reactions can be seen for different traumas), which is hurt it. It's a form of desensitisation that limits your brain's ability to percieve the situation. It's hard to rewrite and leads to hot and cold kind of reactions, so yeah, having a relationship with a capital R is, difficult. That's what I always understood as Nora saying they are never actually okay (andrew and neil). Or at least partly understood it as.

Okay, so this cleared a couple things up. Now JEAN. Jean and Andrew share some factors of their trauma. While not treated as such, Jean was technically fostered by the Moriyamas, and well, Andrew's experiences with being fostered are faaaaar from what it's supposed to be as well. The difference is in Andrew's situation everyone tried to pretend the horror is not happening, there must have been a lot of manipulation and coercion and just plain fucking gaslighting in these houses. Its hard to talk about but I can imagine some of these monsters wanted him to act like he is enjoying it, and thats just out if the emotional range of dealing with for anyone. Jean knew he's in a trap from day one. Moreover, when it comes to the rape's he was victim of it was ordered by Riko to be done by others. That's a different level of fucked up. What's even more important as distinction here is he stopped, when Jean stopped reacting and fighting it. Because what Riko wanted wasn't violation, that was the tool. He wanted to psychologically break him. When the fish stops flailing on the cat stops pushing it around.

And Riko was constant, his modus operandi was regular, and the psychological torture was the motivator behind most of his "conditioning" of Jean. This is a situation where the abuse has a cause for the victim. It sounds sick and I don't agree with it, but it's a game in their mind. In the books we can see that he learned how to limit the amount of attention Riko gave him and as we know he is not confrontational like Andrew with his problems. And yeah I don't mention Neil as confrontational here bcs he has conditioned himself to run from everything and say he's fine to everything so..., sometimes it erupts frk mit but that's not exactly the same, its a last resort.

Circling back, I think Jean is more likely to be sex repulsed. For him sex, which was a form of punishment, is a cause of anxiety. Sexual tension is easy to mix up with nervous tension because of a feeling of losing control of the situation. That's why if we do get romance in the new book, I am putting my money on it being very messy from his pov. The magical thing about trauma responces though, is that they're not black and white, and someone who is sex repulsed might also seek an ending to their anxieties through it. Yet, it's ts a bit of an opposite motivation to the one Andrew has. When Andrew thinks of himself as a tool, Jean is more likely to think of himself as an object. There's a difference. While Andrew wants to take control, Jean is more likely to use it as either a way to retraumatise himself - so his version of hypersexuality would include less control and more roughness and violence, actually trying to rile the partner up. It might stemm for him from low self worth or be a way of letting out his angers and frustrations. It's not that he is used to being hurt, it's that he doesn't expect anything different. I also think he is more likely to have problems with opening up in therapy. Where Andrew is active Jean is passive, and the opposite. The upside is he might actually be more likely to communicate emotionally than through rules and laws, it will take longer, but be a smoother transition, because more people understand it than Andrew's way of building relationships.

russian cyrillic alphabet for anyone who asked! it's gonna be hell of a ride but that's what you asked for kekw

So the cyrillic alphabet was based on the greek alphabet just like the latin alphabet and therefore theres a lot of greek letters in russian

disclaimer for reading rules (you can skip this part)

i need to mention that the russian letters denote sounds but in russian theres such a phonetical phenomenon called reduction and you can hear this as a part of russian accent in english when bed sound like bet, fog like foc, sob like sop etc (b, d, g & others at the end -> p, t, k). Also o, a, e vowels are pronounced differently in different parts of the word... And sadly for russian learners the stress on the words is flexible and changes bc of different reasons. And theres no way you can see stress marks on the words except if youre looking at them in the dictionary.. yeah. So if the pronunciation doesnt make sense thats why

There are 33 letters in russian alphabet. P.s. ['] means its a soft, palatalized sound, like british l in a word village

Аа - basic, its the 'ah' sound (Алфавит [ahl-fah-v'EEt] -> alphabet)

Бб - the capital letter looks like B without the head and the lowercase one looks like 6 for some. You were right when you thought that it looks like B because its the 'b' sound! (Буква [bOOk-va] -> letter, краб [crahp, no not crap] -> crab)

Вв - looks like B, right? that's a v. Imagine it like this emoji :B this silly lil guy looks like theyre saying vvvvv. (Вишня [v'EEsh-n'ya] -> cherry)

Ыы - okay thats a tricky one. make this face 😬 and now make a sound. thats ы, ive marked it as y in the square brackets (Мы [my] -> we, us)

Ьь - cant pronounce that too. this one denotes the softness of the consonant sound

Ээ - ay without the y (=Эй)

Юю - you (Юбка [YOObkah] -> skirt)

Яя - ya, not backwards R (Яблоко [YAH-blah-koh] -> apple, Pommie ^_^)

Now try to write down your name or the name of a cc/npc/egg/other in russian ! you can leave them in the comments or in my ask box, id love to see you learning :D

some tips on transliterating:

ENGLISH w is generally у, can be в. q is к (qu is кв), j/g is дж, x is кс, h is г in the begging of the names/foreigh words like hannibal is ганнибал

SPANISH ñ is нь, pls google other cases

PORTUGUESE nh is нь, lh is ль, pls google other cases

general advice try transliterating like Fit -> Фит, so every letter/cluster of letters in the original language correlates with similar letter in russian. but in french portuguese and spanish you have to pay close attention to pronunciation, more than to the spelling cuz Ricardo will be Рикардо for spanish but Рикарду for portuguese etc etc

So, I've noticed that there is this seam around Nameless' neck.

I initially thought the implication was that Geppetto had removed and reattached the head to access whatever parts he needed to get to.

But I'm actually wondering if maybe he fell from somewhere, considering how he is positioned when we find him.

[I've also had the thought that maybe he isn't even dead in this scene?? but her manner really doesn't seem that way, it's awful bedside manner, for one]

Honestly this all started as more of a crack theory, but now I'm actually wondering if it's actually true. Mostly just because - there seems to be no real reason why we don't seem to know how Carlo died. Like, they went through all this trouble to show us all of this. But if it involved something that, again, is kind of taboo, I can see the story wanting to imply something like that without explicitly having to show it

The thing is, Gemini seems to have stayed behind with Carlo, and I don't really think he woulda let some kid off himself under his watch. (although, I guess that is kind of what happened anyway)

Maybe it'll be answered in the DLC, maybe it'll never be answered, or maybe this entire thing was all nothing to begin with!

Yes, so at that point, Carlo had already been "rejected" by his father. so I can imagine that affecting him badly. [It's also reminding me of the other lore bit of Simon being rejected by his own father ("A father is like god to his son")]

On top of that:

So, I really love the interpretation about the Carlo at the end not being Carlo but Geppetto's ideal version of carlo.

If Carlo really was so unhappy while he was alive, or died by suicide, I don't know, I think it puts a really sad spin on the end carlo smile and how Giuseppe makes his ideal Carlo "happy" in the end

Also, I just recently found the dialogue of antonia actually talking about the BRB painting, which I had NO IDEA existed. It was like the first time I saw that (it was her saying something like "how much Geppetto must've missed you")

I used to think along the lines of "geppetto doesnt want love he wants control", which I still do think is true. But now I'm starting to feel that - even with all his evil - he really did love his son. (That does NOT mean he can't also be a bad parent or a bad person.)

luigi and king boo kinda have a batman+joker relationship - mianly in the fact that they created each other in a way

king boo kidnaps mario and forces luigi into a position in which he needed to show to others and himself that he is strong and beats K Boo which only drives him further into obsession and insanity

so much so that, like the joker, K Boo orbits his life around luigi

and it doesnt help that luigi can throw king boo around in lm3

Anyone remembers this episode of Batman : The Animated Series where all of Batman's rogues team up to organize a sham trial with Batman as the defendant, Harvey Two-Face as the prosecutor, the Joker as the judge, and as Batman's attorney, they force a DA who had been against Batman previously (blaming him for creating his own villains) to defend him ?

Anyway please imagine with me a similar premise where King Boo, finding out about how many other villains Luigi has wronged despite being a cowardly weakling, manages to gather them, kidnap Luigi and put him on trial for causing so many villains to appear or become worse : Chaos Heart host, triggering King Boo into becoming more unhinged, touching and freeing Lucien, giving a gateway to Antasma from the Dream World...

I can see two possible scenarios :

Option 1 : Bowser holding the role of the antagonist forced to defend the hero, and while at first he's enraged these chumps are forcing his hand and he's barely doing the minimum, the more the "trial" goes on, the more he learns about Luigi's exploits and slowly grows impressed ...but will that be enough for him to actually help Luigi ?

Option 2 : Mario is also captured with Luigi and he's supposed to be the main witness/attorney of his brother, with a cruel dilemma presented to him: either show that Luigi never meant to bring so many villains to this point, and paint him as the weak coward they claim him to be, or argue in favor of how he intended his actions, and make him "guilty" in this court of madness.

If anyone has more ideas to add to this plotbunny, I'm all ears!

i feel like the typical standard for any riddler to have an obsession is that the object of their desires is also highly intelligent, though i also feel like with capullo riddler you would also have to be as physically attractive as him, in his opinion. think of gaston, but skinnier, socially awkward and highly intelligent

youre probably someone in a position of power. maybe youre an official, a detective, in forensics, etc. his initial goal is to embarrass you. he is back to his old tricks setting up some elaborate challenges. see? youre not as smart as you thought you - wait, you solved it?

the great riddler will not be bested by some lowly city imbecile!

his need to be better than everyone, including you, starts this game. he presents you will increasingly harder and more demanding challenges. at one point you probably have a bomb strapped to you.

the more puzzles and riddles you solve, the more he looks forward to these encounters. he eventually thinks that it may be because he's a loner and humans are naturally very social creatures, but this is dismissed quickly

he's not just a human! he's not like anyone else! he is the great edward nygma! the riddler!

then he finds himself making careless mistakes in everything he does. this should make him furious! it should...

suddenly, being captured isnt as bad anymore, he gets to see his 'game partner' as he's being booked in! you! he thinks nothing of this. just a little banter with someone who is almost as intelligent as himself

"ah, detective L/N! looking as sharp as ever! what did you think of our last game? ha, that hardly matters. its our next game that you should look forward to! imagine this..."

he is delusional in thinking that you enjoy his trials. you SOLVE them, because your life kind of depends on it. but this only spurs him on to make more! oh how you exhaust him. he slows down his intellectual assault on gotham and shifts more towards proving that you cannot possibly compare to him.

he's more so trying to reassure himself that he's the greatest

eventually one of the other rogues points this 'obsession' out to him as he's babbling about his next challenge for you (probably selina since she sees every opportunity to tease him)

"you know, ed, if i didnt know any better i would think that the 'great riddler' has a bit of a crush" followed by snickers and "woos!"

his face turns hot and red. this only spurs on the others more! for the first time, he doesnt know what to say. his mind is racing with explanations and excuses, but no words come out

he has been embarrassed before and it crushes him. he? the riddler? have feelings for you?

the more he sulks and ponders, the more he fears that it may be true. the sleepless nights wondering how you've solved everything. his giddiness when he sees his favorite player. the way his heart races when he speaks to you... the anger he feels when you speak to someone who isnt him. the jealousy of seeing you interact with the other rogues. the dejectedness of your disinterested attitude towards him

theres only one rational solution in his mind... to kidnap you!

you enjoy your time with him dont you? dont you hate sharing a city with knuckle-dragging baboons? dont you hate being surrounded by millions of people who dont see you for what you truly are?? a genius... just like him

his end goal is to convince you that you two really arent that dissimilar, that you are alike in more ways that you can comprehend. that you need him with you! like he needs you with him

his darling Y/N just needs a strong, intelligent man such as he to SHOW them that they would be best suited together.... no matter how long it takes, how many puzzles they go through and how many people will be exterminated if they get in the way

hiii i got a little insane over haskills characterization in the other elder scrolls games / material. teehee rambling abt these ^ quotes under the cut (long). also im not that serious abt any of this tbh im just glad haskill appeared in any other elder scrolls material at all LOL

OKAY. okay. about these quotes. idk why other TES media does this, but in these quotes from elder scrolls legends + the interview with haskill it seems like the writers are pushing to give the impression that haskill slightly resents or is even indifferent to his position / the isles / sheogorath ?? (unless haskill is being a little bit more flippant or hyperbolic than usual...?) which is characterization that is NOT what i got from playing oblivion at all skdskdjfn

like... when i played oblivion i thought it was very clear that haskill prefers to be in the isles, serving sheogorath, more than anywhere else. (<- i think this is actually the reason he's technically "mad" even tho he seems sane outwardly. if you enjoy being among madmen it probably means you're mad yourself ykwim). i think haskill does like the isles, his ass is just reserved abt it, like he is about everything... yknow just like jeeves, whose character he's been compared to lmao:)

i think unfortunately some writers take his annoyance with the player and his slight second thoughts about sheogorath's plan in oblivion, and mistakenly assume that he's just annoyed at his whole position. haskill does have his moments of exasperation, but the thing is it's usually only exasperation and it never verges into anger or bitterness or resentment like the top quotes seem to indicate. for example, haskill says this abt his idea of you mantling sheo / the clowns debacle:

^ This quote is a good reference point for haskill's view on sheo bc its pretty much the most critical-of-sheogorath quote from oblivion i can recall, and it tells us a lot of things. in this quote he expresses some exasperation about the clown idea (because he's a prissy bitch who doesn't want to get his outfit dirty /affectionate) and shows some apprehension about one of his lord's ideas (because it involves you, and haskill doesnt like you). but these 2 points he has beef with aren't really reflective of sheo himself but of other issues - ie he doesn't directly question sheogorath. and IN THE END Haskill defers to sheo's judgement because haskill trusts him and values sheo's ideas. in all of his oblivion dialogue, this is the most critical toward sheogorath he gets, and he never outright insults or shows resentment toward him or the isles like in the above quotes bc his loyalty to sheogorath eclipses it

on the contrary (and i dont know why the writers for non-oblivion elder scrolls content dont seem to see this??), theres so much evidence that haskill actually does, you know,,, enjoy being in the isles. here are just some snippets i can think of:

"the isles are hardly a place for anyone, really" <- i BEG to differ, Haskill likes it here, he likes listening to prisoners being tortured in xedillian, he likes wearing his ridiculous frilly high collar outfit emblematic of the fashions of the isles, he doesn't care about morality and it suits him just fine that it doesn't matter here!! (the end quote might be him being a little facetious about relmyna but to be honest i wouldn't be surprised if he thought decency and morality WERE provincial notions because he certainly has no problem killing people lmao). and again, to enjoy doing these things / being around madmen probably says something abt haskill being mad himself. lol

not to mention he likes a bit of joking around. which i imagine sheo does a whole lot. when YOU rib him a little he says this:

his derision in the first bit i think indicates, "i cant believe you would joke around at a time like this," and the upturning of the "very good" i think indicates, "it was a good joke / maybe they could mantle sheo after all". he's not all dour - he appreciates a good joke, especially from (someone who's about to become) his Lord!!

and going a little deeper into haskill actually liking the isles... haskill clearly holds what sheogorath and the isles represent (chaos, free will, individuality) very highly. a good example of this is when you ask him about dyus, and he gives this snarky reply:

^ he says this with such VITRIOL its so funny :p and the amount of disdain in this line indicates (to me) a real conviction in his belief in the free will, chaos etc that sheogorath represents.

this is why i dont think this quote makes sense. "i cant remember why i put up with [sheogorath]" <- haskill wouldnt say this bc he understands fully why he puts up w sheogorath, and his own convictions in sheo that lead him to keep doing it, and even if this quote is him being hyperbolic, i dont think he'd joke about his faith in sheogorath like that because, yk, one of his characteristics is that he's extremely loyal, and moreover he never said anything to this effect in oblivion sdkjskdjs

him having a strong belief in what sheogorath / the isles represent is also evidenced by the language haskill uses when talking about sheo. whenever haskill mentions him, there is an element of poetry and respect to his words that shows that haskill thinks about him highly at the very least:

^ haskill constantly stresses sheogorath's intrinsic unknowableness and power and unique wisdom in a way that feels very respectful. saying "to attempt to fathom [sheogorath's will] is a foolish endeavor" shows that he knows there are unexplainable aspects to sheogorath that he takes note of, respects, and knowingly keeps his distance from... he gets sheogorath and reveres him (at least more than most others or the HoK). in these quotes especially, it feels a bit like hes trying to illustrate how impressive sheogorath is to the HoK, hyping up his boyfriend if you would. who said that. and combined with this respect is (i believe!!!!) a deep care. he is invested in the isles and sheo and wants to help them out of more than just duty. he gets fearful and even loses his composure at some points in the story when sheo/the isles are threatened which i think indicates that he deeply cares for them both!!:

i think this is a care that, combined with the respect he has for sheo, makes it really unlikely for him to get more than exasperated with his behavior and verge into resentfulness. i dont think anyone truly understands sheogorath, not even haskill, but haskill respects sheo as a god, and also gets him in a more familiar/personal way i think - like the way that a cat owner loves their cat but gets exasperated with it when it gets its head stuck in a tissue box. he doesn't angry or anything because he understands that it's the cat's nature to get stuck in the tissue box / sheo's nature to be wild and unpredictable and messy. (the difference being that sheogorath is an all-powerful god cat..... do u see my vision???)

anyway this got crazy long JHDSHFSD... to finish i wanted to look at this extra bit of characterization i found that was wild to me:

^ like. i truly dont get where they got THIS characterization LMAO sheo constantly calls haskill faithful and smart and knowledgeable in oblivion, he practically begs you to summon haskill for help, hyping up his boyfriend so to speak, they care for each other your honor so of COURSE sheo trusts haskill to do his job. what are the legends writers doing in there!!

I've heard people say that Izuku is too naive and annoying with his will to save Shigaraki. Let me tell you he's not. (Manga spoilers)

First, he will never ever try to befriend Shigaraki or even just forgive him for all the atrocities he has done like Izuku did for Lady Nagant. He knows that Shigaraki is a monster that needs to be stopped at all costs, so no he won't use "the power of friendship."

Second, when Izuku says he wants to save Shigaraki, he's talking about his soul, not his body. The heroes have already decided that All for one is such a powerful villain who tortured and killed thousands, probably millions of people, that he needs to be killed. Pulling him in prison like they did last time won't do so you think they'll simply keep Shigaraki, who is stronger than All For One, locked up? No way. Shigaraki needs to be killed too. There's no doubt about that. Now, Izuku saw a crying child (Tenko) in the vestiges and will try to extend him a hand, to save his heart before he dies.

Before talking about what I mean by that, let me analyze Shigaraki- no, Tenko's trauma a little.

Tenko killed his entire family with his quirk. After that, he ended up as a homeless starved sleepless kid who needed help but didn't get any. Until All For One arrived and saved him. Tenko was so traumatized by the events that he even lost his memories, but he did remember one thing: feelings. The anger he felt when he was abused, and that feeling of pleasure and peace he felt when he finally got rid of his dad. All for one being the manipulator that he is, he understood that Tenko's brain voluntarily suppressed his memories not to feel guilty toward himself and told him to direct the anger he had for his dad towards the society of heroes, who is apparently all faked and hypocrite, full or selfish people, people who abandon their families. Tenko here is putting the blame of his trauma on the heroes (like Nana bc she abandoned her son, who abused his own son, Tenko, because he wanted to be a hero) because blaming others is always easier than blaming yourself. Now, All for one also told him to become stronger, encouraged him to kill the people that hurt him, and so AFO fed Tenko's addiction for destruction. Since he's so obsessed with the rage that keeps growing, he never feels any positive emotion which is very self destructive for a brain, so as a coping mechanism, he searches for that satisfaction he felt when he killed his dad (since it was mixed with rage, it's a pleasure that became compatible with his anger), killing again and again: his quirk became his own source of serotonin. (that's also why he often smiles while decaying)

Shigaraki doesnt have plans for the future. He doesn't care what will happen of society or anyone, even himself. He even said the league can just do whatever they want.. he just wants to destroy. He only lives in the present moment for that feeling only.

What he needs is someone (Izuku) to tell him that heroes aren't all "bad" (nana had her reasons so she's not really a bad person :/) but more at the source of the problem, that he didn't deserve any of the abuse and that it's not his fault his family died. The accident wasn't the heroes fault, it wasnt his own fault, it was nobody's fault (okay it was AFO's fault since he actually transferred decay to a quirkless Tenko but the awakening of a violent quirk could've totally happened naturally and Tenko wouldn't have the blame either).

Tenko doesn't have to feel guilty about that accident. He needs to hear that.

Now I dont know how things will go on, and even how Izuku may possibly adress Shigaraki's trauma, but in my opinion the best death Shigaraki could have would be after Izuku managed to save the sad, scared, guilt rotten child in the vestiges, as Shigaraki would finally feel at ease, relaxed, kinda comforted. No anger for a very long time, I imagine his death to be very peaceful. He could even chose to be the one to kill himself actually with decay, the quirk that started it all and would end it all. He would give up on life because he had been so filled with anger for so long that he'd just feel like there's no point in living anymore if he doesn't destroy. He'd just feel like an empty shell. His peaceful death would kinda remind me of a certain demon's towards the end of demon slayer, if you read the manga you know who I'm talking about.

So yeah, I really want Izuku to reach Tenko. I'm sure he will. But he'll definitely put an end to Shigaraki's destruction at the same time.

Question: how would your characterization of demon Alastor react to finding out for the last 60+ years that what he thought was Vox breaking up with him was actually Demon!Valentino drugging/r**ping him with his venom/aphrodisiac and Vox has No memory of what he and Alastor actually had? No memory of anything except maybe the last month? And to find out Valentino only did this so Vox (who was becoming a TV mogul) would put his pornos on the tv. How would he help Vox remember? What would he do to Valentino? Would Velvette also suffer?

okay so. nonny, i wont blame you for not knowing, especially since ive never explicitly talked about it on main, but for future reference, im not that big on the whole abusive staticmoth dynamic. i can see why others enjoy it, and i do read stories with it from time to time simply because the premise captivates me that much, but in general id say i much more prefer a version where val and vox are at the very least best friends if not crossing into the sort of blurry best friends who smooch sometimes territory.

now having said that, i'll still answer your question because again, not very fair of me to just brush you off for no reason when i never made my preferences clear beforehand. (this gets long, so i'll leave a readmore.) warning: my demon radiostatics are always freak4freak no matter what. so this does get a little iffy in terms of ethics

my favourite interpretation of radiostatic is two sickos who are just as closely obsessed with each other, so in the unlikely case that al would let vox go for that long, when he realizes again the first thing he's going to do is go and. well. for lack of a better term, atticwife him (i hope to god this isn't just a term used in east asian fandoms because if i have to explain this ill eat lead). maybe after a little bit of time, he'll allow vox some liberties, but even then it'd be very little. ill put it this way- imagine the most toxic irl relationship you can: someone who tracks and micromanages their partners every move, barely lets them outside the house without going with them, monitors every friendship that they allow their partner to have, and there you have it. thats radiostatic! ah, young love. so sweet, dont you think? after all, alastor can't risk his muse's eyes slipping off him again. he's been deprived of that attention for far too long, and it wasn't even by his own doing! that's an offense in and of itself.

now im assuming that its only val who's doing the exploitation here so presumably vel would have no hand in any of the mess, and perhaps not even be fully aware of the nuances behind the scenes. i mean, it wouldn't really matter either way because once alastor finds out the reason why his other half hasnt been reciprocating their insane little song and dance he's getting rid of any and all obstacles, permanently. vox doesnt need anyone else so long as he has him- and hey, he was friends with him, rosie and husk first, so its not even as if its much of a loss. the only people he'd presumably leave alive would be voxs own contracted souls, and even then thats a bit of a gamble depending on just how bad i want the both of them to be: without his contracted souls, vox would be weaker and more susceptible to whatever alastor wants, so i guess its a matter of whether or not i want the freak4freak relationship where theyre both equally strong but vox willingly submits because he gets more thrill out of it that way or whether i want freak4freak where vox has to struggle way harder and still ends up giving in anyway because al is simply stronger

as for what he'd actually *do* to val. i mean. he does still have that radio broadcast of his, doesn't he? i think you can probably put the pieces together. the thing with animal sinners is that theres simply so many parts of them to break... show-wise, i never understood how overlords like alastor or val could even rise to their position, with the amount of weak spots they must have. that broken antenna vox and val share is certainly something that speaks to their higher vulnerability. and moth wings are especially fragile: i owned little silkworm moths at one point (they were my babies, i loved them for the month or so i got to care for them) but their wings were so thin they were wearing holes in them by the second or third day. val's coat-wings look much thicker in comparison, but of course, my perception is limited by the show only. so i mean, who knows? im sure whatever happens, itll make the best entertainment in al's eyes :)

Ooooo i love your ideas for Huohuo sibling! Especially with it being canon that Huohuo actually does have a sibling (a sister). While i love your idea, have you consider Huohuo with a younger foxian sibling? A sibling that deeply admires their big sister and would brag to anyone who would listen how their brave big sister is a judge in the Ten Lord Commision, meanwhile Huohuo keeps trying to get braver just so she wont let her sibling down and let them see how she really is. (+ Tail also has begrudgingly taken a liking to Huohuo’s little sibling and usually called kid or pup or something..)

(Also here are some scenarios i have for your ideas btw:

Older foxian sibling: A sibling who would nag at Tail to be much nicer to Huohuo, a sibling who would let their sister sleep with them if she thought there was a monster also there’s Tail snarking how Huohuo was being a baby and the sibling just give him a death glare, a sibling who has a weird relationship with Tail that’s like “they seem to hate each other a lot but they actually secretly care for the each other” kind, and a sibling that Huohuo loves a lot and vowed to be a much braver judge for them.

Emanator sibling: A sibling that Huohuo tries to impress a lot even though she doesnt have to, a sibling that Huohuo compares herself a lot to, a sibling that is much favored by their parents who saw Huohuo as a monster because of Mr. Tail, a sibling who never cares about any of that and loves Huohuo for who she is

I apologize for the sadder tone for the emanator sibling but i imagine that having a sibling who’s an emanator will definitely get you to be compared with them a lot, whether it is you or other people that will do it)

ooh that's a fascinating question! i think ill do a run down for celia and cos! warnings for discussions of death- particularity violent ones- as well as the morbid nature of someone thinking about how they will die and mentions of drug abuse.

Celia, 6/10 for uncomfortable, she doesn't like thinking about it, but shes come to terms with it.

Celia used to think she would die with adrenaline running through her veins, finally put down by someone bigger and stronger than her. Now? now Celia knows the people she needs to fear aren't those with strength but with power and desperation. She wont die heroically [or as close as people like her can] she will die in the shadows, finally deemed unnecessary or uncontrollable, killed with a bullet to the head or a knife to the throat. maybe her corpse will play part of a set up, redirecting the anger of those she left behind.

in her most morbid thoughts, she hopes its Rametto. the student surpassing the master, in the truest sense of the phrase, and maybe he can finally extract his own vengeance for what she did to him- he knows she would be proud of him for managing to rid the board of her. in truth she just wants it to be quick- but knows that not the end people like her get. [if its anyone she cares about its Tesoro- who else, who else. she glad its not Rametto, for their sake, even as she knows it means they will all fall apart]

Cecio, 5/10. hes aware of how its most likely to go down. weirdly proud of it?

Cecio has no illusions he will die in the line of duty, whatever that 'duty' means. if hes unlucky he will be exposed and left to rot in prison- until someone relives his suffering with a shank through the ribs. if hes lucky it will be quick and quiet and he will get to go calmly, but he knows one day he will cross a line in someones eyes and his poor computer set up will never be fully cleaned after getting his brains blown out as hes sat infront of them. [he likes to imagine his death as dramatic, for all it will be quiet in the end- he can only pray for a quick death, not a humiliating one]

Rametto, 8/10, will pretend to be chill with it but is not

Rametto knows their curiosity will get the better of him one day, and they wont be the chess master anymore. if hes unlucky he will slip up and die sooner rather than later, if hes lucky he will get to live a long life, and then die to some upstart after his position, following the rest of his family to whatevers waiting for them. [they thinks 40 is old and the rest will die before they- in their world? they might be right]

Conficcare, 4/10, he thinks he knows and hes made his peace with it

He knows hes gonna die alone because he misjudged how much he could handle and lost the coin flip between pride and cowardice. hes gonna break his lovers heart and hes gonna hurt all the rest of the people who care about him.

[hes gonna die a hero, looking at death with open eyes and choosing to spit in his face, hes gonna die to give the people he loves their chance at survival, and hes gonna die with the man he loves and despite the pain he wont have it any other way]

Tesoro, 9/10. he knows what are the most likely scenarios, but he doesn't like what they say about his struggles

Tesoro doesn't want to die with a needle in his arm or a pill in is mouth but he also doesnt want to die at the hands of someone he loves. hes been openly queer for a while, but its the secrets he holds that are so much more dangerous. Celia turns a blind eye, Conficcare relies on him to much, Rametto is the most distant from him, and Cecio never quite let himself realize just how similar they both are.

whats that tactic? the second in command does something that the leader turns a blind eye to, and if they succeed they are praised if they fail they are disavowed? thats the game hes been playing for to many years- and theres no such thing as winning, just not being found out.

they would be right to hate him, give him the fury they so eagerly direct at Celia- but if just for them, he doesnt want to die at the hands of someone he loves, but he doesnt want to die alone either

[he dies with the man he loves, a hero to those who survive him. eventually they talk about the true manipulator of the group but its easier to forgive the long dead. Celia will always mourn him, and Rametto grow to respect him more as they step into his role]

Ah Jin Guild still needs members! AU

And it isnt just only because they need a raiding party of 10 people to enter a dungeon, bit because there has to be a specific set of hunters who have each their own work to do within the corporation.

{Ah jin guild consisting of S rank Sung Jin Woo, Radiru Esil [how?], Yoo Sooyoung, Lee Ju Hee, Song Chi Yul, Yoo Jin Ho, and Han Song Yi

Of course there is Jin Woo as Guild Leader and Jin Ho as vice-guild leader, but because hunters also act as part of team that produces its primary source of income, it means that all the paperwork has to be handle by other people who, at least have far more time in their hands than the hunters themselves. (And the goverments knew it as such, and so did other guilds, which is why you often see a lot of S ranks in vice and guild master positions instead of simply being workers to far more expirienced bussiness owners. It was also why the list to start a guild didnt only include three members but rather 7 guild members. [1:Master 2:Vice 3:Shareholder 4:Marketing 5:Administration and Finance 6:RRHH or Human Resources and 7:Production or Distribution of Production ])

So now Jin Ho and Jin Woo are outhere scavenging for people who could be able to join but wont get in Jin woo's way of collecting XP points. At this point jin Woo wont mind paying for anyone who can join because, he is freaking rich by now, he cant even count the numbers on his bank account anymore with all the raiding and the 3 billion won. And considering how well he could clear up dungeons later on, he will be even more rich, so he doesnt mind spending bucks on people to just fill in the gaps, theyve done this once they can do it for a longer time or until Jin ho manages to grow the guild with enough management workers.

So Jin Ho gets to work instantly while Jin Woo crashes down internally and realizes. He has like two friends at max.

He still calls on them though.

Ju Hee, as promised before, they went on that meal and even visited some parks in Busan. It was a fun while, he finally felt relaxed in what seemed like, no, in what had been years to him honestly. (whenever or not there is romance involved or not, its up to the imagination but for now this whole AU focus is purely on the gen side,) After a while (and Ju hee shooing away the press because Jin woo is an awkward duck no matter how strong he gets! he uses his shadows later tho) he does ask Ju Hee if he wants to come join his guild, and Ju hee despite knowing Jin Woo will be able to protect him even better than the best S ranks in Korean, still refuses. Jin Woo adds on that he just needs her to stay there and not actually go inside and raid, its to fill in basically. Well, she is a retired healer, but she wouldnt mind helping out her friend if nothing bad willl happen to her, and she will be too far away for that to happen, so Ju Hee agreesand sends her home like a good friend. They are both glad to be in talking terms again because really, they have grown so distant since the murder, and none of them really recognized the other. (The healer who felt safe within low rank dungeons and the hunter who always got hurt, to a retired high ranker that cant come close to the side of gates and a hunter who rivals the strenght of other S rankers... yeah, they were both surprised when they saw for how long they had been talking to one another during their walk.)

[Eh?! how come a low B rank healer can join but not me?? What am I lacking?!?! Does Sung even need a healer ??- a random definetly not S rank hunter out there as she looks at the news of Jin Woo's date or so all the media proclaims except the hunters themselves.]

After that trip he calls on his other "friend" or well, he should call him mentor really because it was mostly him being that. He feels a bit of pity scurring up when he realizes his only "friend" would be a 60 year old, and even then he is mostly an acquaintance with the man, either way he goes to the dojo were the he is supposed to work. Low and behold he did not expect the meeting to be even more awkward as he meets Cha hae In, who recently, like three to two days recently, just asked if she could join the guild. And now he will ask a lower rank than her to join. And she will probably be able to hear it.

Jin Woo tries to act as though he just came here on accident, no he wasnt spying on Hae In and no he really really just passed by and stuff you know, just a waltz and he suddenly got interested in this dojo.

"Mr Sung" but of course, his plans are ruined as Song Chi Yul approaches him and asks what he is doing here. Cha Hae In, despite much interrogation and thousand "press X to doubt" going through her head, she lets the case go as Choi Jong In calls for her help on another dungeon.

At that point is when Jin Woo talks to Chi Yul about joining his guild and if he could please come to fill in the gap. Chi Yul feels a little please to know the boy is being honest with him, and considering he already owns dojo, it isnt as though he needs the money, so he will be fine with just helping him out, the same as Ju Hee had said.

[The next day Chi yul is confronted by a blushing know-tow Cha Hae In asking him to pretty please help her put on a good word for Jin Woo because she really wants to get into his guild please!! and Chi Yul, after teasing his student (at this point foster daughter with how much he cares for her!) he promises to try and Hae In smiles.]

When Jin Ho and jin Woo meet up again, alongside the already new member Yoo Sooyoung (whose interactions go as canon with added bits of Sooyoung and Jin Woo stuck in a photo session for two hours bc Sooyoung trains him to smile more and look less menancing as he does so!) they see they are already halfway up! good for them!

but now they really have exhausted most of their help.

But.

It is then!

Jin Ah is contacted during her small lunch break in school (how mean of you oppa!) to ask for some help in building the guild.

"Wow I knew you were bad at bussiness managment but I didn't think you would go so far as to asking me of all people. A student."

"Its not about that. Do you have your friends phone number?"

"I, unlike you, have many friends, so especify please."

"You little-- The E rank one, the girl with the hoddie who has a better fashion taste than you."

"because Song Yi wears the same edgy things as you!" Like she doesnt know about nirvana and MCR when both keep telling her they are the best things since slice bread.

"Yes her."

"Why? I dont trust you with her life oppa after what Song Yi told me about the red gate incient." She told her the WHAT now???

"Hey I saved her from an otherwise bad experience... and death."

"hmmmm... fine, but Im not letting my friend go out of sight with you, hunters can tend to be such risk takers nowadays."

So Jin Ah puts the phone on speaker as Song Yi is called over, they discuss the tradings as Jin Woo did before, and specify she wont do anything, she just has to be present. Song Yi feels a little disappointed knowing she wont be able to fight off against real monsters until.. she gets an idea, a sneaky idea! and puts the phone on mute to share Jin Ah of said idea (jin woo's brother senses are tingling and its not good.)

Unmuting the call, Song yi accepts [:D] under the condition that Jin Woo can train her [:0]. Jin Woo agrees it only on bi weekly sundays, and Song Yi and Jin Ah act all professional while ending the meeting (call) on an agreement before suddenly leaping out and squaling with joy that they get to spend more time now with the shadows and jin Woo!

Their high school classmates are so jealous right now. You bet Song Yi and Jin Ah wont miss an opportunity at inviting the shadows in for a movie night!!

Alright 6 down, 1 more to go.

[On Kakaotalk and Insta the most talked about thing currrently is this sudden Korean E rank student being able to enter one of the most anticipated guilds in the country due to Sung Jin Woo's reputation, and the people truly do wish to ask. why? who? the members so far have been S rank Jin Woo, A rank Soo young, B rank Ju hee, C rank Chi Yul, D rank Jin ho and finally E rank Song Yi. Some have started to point it out that it looks like he is trying to get one of each rank and have even celebrated about it. The assosiation is sent to keep close watch on the members since some of them most likely wont be able to deal with the press. "All except for C rank Chi Yul." One informs as he gets news that Hae In threatened the press not to spread rumors about her master or else they will have to deal with two S ranks.

Chi Yul in the back like: (´ｰ∀ｰ`) there goes my pupil making headlines again despite not liking talking to the press at all.]

As Jin Woo is reading the manual for making a guild, he suddenly has a realization, or at least managed to find a loophole in the system.

It said hunters, not just humans. Of course its not all that easy, or else he would have put his shadows as hunters and bam, case solveda milenia ago. They did specify that hunters are "Awakened people who use their powers to help in killing or kill Magic Beasts inside gates."

And now, as long as he can integrate that person into a "people" he should be able to get a seventh hunter, right?

"Alas... you came to our castle to ask us if I could give up my daughter again for her to gain this "citizentship" in your kingdom of Korea-"

"Its not a kingdom sir, but yes."

"hmmm..."

Did he even hear him? Jin Woo can see that he is shaking in his knees, especially afterh he came back with such a new strong force below him, but he didnt expect the Radiru clan leader to still act tought. Well, its kinda funny so he lets him go on. Besides, Esil and him are already happy to see each other again, since , really, he didnt expect to come here again.

"Fine, but she better come back home before dawn. "

Is- is dawn even real here? the sky hasnt changed even when he was here for a week. Oh well, guess he can try. Esil nudges him a little saying its fine, he is just saying she has to come back at least once in a while.

"But now to explore this new Korea kingdom!"

"Its not a kingdom..."

Esil doesnt care!

Meanwhile Jin Woo is helping Esil shift somewhat into a passable human (how to hide those ears hmmmmm... the marks in her eyes will be a simple makeup- "Jin Ah!")

Jin Ah was never more exited in her life than at this very moment as she wants (heck yeah she's rich now!) And starts her mission as fast as possible. Song Yi joins in also, surgesting that she also wear a hoddie to hide her long ears, and maybe ask some questions about who she is.

"Im a noble."

Jin Ah interprets it as being a princess. And considering the best clan now is the Radiru... she isnt technically wrong.

Eventually the girls settle on a lot of different hairstyles to cover her ears very well while Esil's unique facemarks can be hidden within deep layers of makeup that are the top noch quality for S ranks. There are also some headbands that are long enough for her ears to hide in, and even then she could always slay in a hoddie or two. Esil Radiru quickly gains alot of followers as Jin Ah posts on her social media, feeling proud of herself for her work.

Meanwhile Jin Woo and Jin Ho are forgering papers to make it seem as though Esil is an actual real person all along. Its not the first crime they commited honestly.

Esil's name was changed to Ming A-Young, 24 years old (they never got a clear answer on her age so Jin Woo just guessed), and is taken the next day to get her evaluation tested.

"Sung Jin Woo-ssi! I think I might have broken something..."

"Hm? How so?"

"They told me that my status was inmmesurable... Im really sorry I swear I didnt mean to do anything I simply touched it and—" Jin Woo just pats her head.

He can already see the headlines for three days from now.

[Korean's 11th S rank Hunter! Ming A Young who already has become the last needed member for the new Ah Jin Guild!]

Korea celebrates as Cha Hae In notices she has new waifu competition.

...But seeing that the 11th S rank is a woman, around her same age? She could probably befriend her huh...
