Was going to write this as a reply to something but realized it needed its own post.
The tl;dr is that, from the looks of it, Automattic absolutely has every intention of turning Tumblr into a marketing media platform.
I work for a marketing company. I build websites.
Specifically, I build websites on Wordpress.org, which is operated by the Wordpress Foundation.
The Wordpress Foundation is the non-profit counterpart to the for-profit company Automattic.
Automattic, as we know, is the company that currently owns Tumblr.
Now, the thing about Wordpress.org (not to be confused with Wordpress.com) is that it's very, VERY popular amongst small businesses. Not only can you build a fully-customizable website with relative ease, you can also add an online shop using another Automattic product: Woocommerce.
Not too long ago, I noticed a new feature was added to Woocommerce: A button next to each Woocommerce product which allows you to Blaze them to Tumblr right from the comfort of your dashboard:
Tumblr media
This is what I get when I click that little "Blaze" button...
Tumblr media
As someone who understands these tools, I understand the potential implications of these features:
The Blaze feature is basically an up-and-coming ad campaign system that's directly integrated with Woocommerce websites, which I think is the first ad marketing system of its kind. You don't have to log into a social media account to advertise your products, use a second-party integration, or even pay another service to manage your social media ads. It's all baked right into your business's website.
THIS is their planned money-maker, folks, not the rainbow checkmarks or crab armies. And the reason why Automattic would do this kind of thing is simple: Businesses are wealthier than individuals. By implementing a B2B service, Automattic can make more money off of Tumblr than user subscriptions and shoelaces will ever provide.
It's all the same song and dance. Businesses can now shove more ads into your face in a new, convenient fashion. It'll be ads that don't look like ads disguised amongst ads that do look like ads, just like it is with Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and literally every other marketing media service that calls itself a "social" media.
(Tumblr's new video feature? My guess is that it's there to prepare for video-format Blaze campaigns. Influencer-style videos are the only kind of ad format Gen-Z is receptive to, which is why you're suddenly seeing videos on every platform.)
All they really gotta do now is make Tumblr look appealing to the normies so they can draw in a userbase that isn't trying to escape the onslaught of commercialism that plagues other sites.
Tumblr is one of the last true social medias we have; a place where content is made purely for the sake of talking about it. But given the writing on the wall...I doubt it'll stay that way.

Shadowgast Corporate/Office-Au Rec List!
Hello I'm back again with more disaster wizard (well and in this case working professional but more office-like setting) recommendations!
This list is a little bit more bawdy than normal (I love a good smut fic, but I also try to vary the ratings on these lists for those who may not share my enthusiasm).
If you want to see my other shadowgast rec lists- they are linked at the end of this post. ANYWAYS- let's get into it!
______________________
1 As per my last email
As per my last email (11651 words) by LivThael (I don't think they are on Tumblr- if they do please comment so I can tag- but they have a twitter listed in the notes of the fic) Chapters: 11/11 Rating: Explicit Summary: Essek Thelyss is an asshole with a questionable taste in spreadsheets. Caleb Widogast has more important and certainly more interesting things to do than filing travel expense claims. A series of mails turns into a escalating meeting. Or: Please stop writing me emails, I genuinely hate you. - Explicit content only in chapter 10.
What I loved: Anyone who has worked in an office knows a passive aggressive email when they get one. Plus we have the added bonus of having to deal with accounting to get expenses covered- ugh, so good. The energy of these passive aggressive- yet flirty workplace emails between new hire Caleb and kind-of-an-asshole Essek in accounting is *chefs kiss*. The build up to their meeting was written so well! I also really love the way the fic is formatted- the email style gives it an immersive feel.
_____
2 Paradigm Shift
Paradigm Shift (114,291 words) by full_time_dreamer_behold (I don't know their tumblr, please totally feel free to tag if they have one- i'll add it). Chapters: 28/28 Rating: Teen and up Audiences Summary: Recently moved to Rosohna, Caleb accepts a job at a prestigious law firm, but the work turns out to be menial and dull. Thankfully, his life takes a turn when he makes new friends and starts taking a curious interest in the IT Manager- the handsome and intriguing Essek Thelyss. Could he be reason enough for Caleb to stay in this place? He certainly intends to find out.
A friends-to-idiots-to-lovers slow burn with a sweet ending.
What I loved: This was such a lovely slow burn. It covers hard topics in a corporate kind of setting including racism, nepotism, and power dynamics that really suck but it handled with care and well written. I also really love the disability representation here! This slow burn is so so good, I super recommend! Also bonus it's the length of a beefy novel!
_____
3 the golden thread around your neck whispered visions of my undoing
the golden thread around your neck whispered visions of my undoing (172812 words) by MarsBar2019 (If you know Mars' tumblr please comment and I will tag- I couldn' find it in the notes). Chapters: 38/? Rating: Explicit Summary: Caleb Widogast does not belong here. The world of sharp suits, board meetings, and billion dollar budgets is a far cry from Caleb’s preferred domain: the research lab. Where nobody cares about his faded T-shirts and raggedy jeans. But a year of industry experience will look good on his CV, and the hefty pay bump wouldn’t hurt either. How hard could a secretary gig be? What he finds behind the glittering edifice of Auriga, Wildemount’s leading name in arcane technology, is CEO Essek Thelyss, who maintains his domain with an acid tongue and an iron fist. It’s difficult not to find him intriguing, this handsome, guarded, brilliant man. It’s even more difficult not to want to please him. Caleb knows to keep it professional, though. Working late nights together at the office and lingering glances here and there don’t cross the boundaries of propriety. That is, until they do.
Or: the one where Essek Thelyss loses focus and has a consensual workplace relationship.
Updates weekly on Mondays.
E-rated chapters: Ch. 4, 9, 13, 14, 17, 18, 22-23, 26, 32, 38
Why I love it: Out of all the recs this one is the SPICIEST (and I love that). Head the warnings - there may be stuff that isn't for you, but if you, like me, enjoy a 6/5 spicy level fic- congrats this one will not disappoint. This story is in progress but updates weekly which is fantastic. We have big time and hot mess CEO Essek and his personal assistant disaster bisexual Caleb- of course it's an HR scandal waiting to happen, but also, Essek might come out a better person for it. I cannot recommend this enough, this fic is so so good. In addition to the smut, it's also just a really fantastic story.
_____
4 sleep, with benefits
sleep, with benefits (62272 words) by KmacKatie @kmackatie Chapters: 12/12 Rating: Explicit Summary: Caleb Widogast wakes up from the first good night of sleep in far too long. It takes him a moment to realise it's because he's not in his bed. Is it the better mattress (lump-free and like a cloud), or the fact he drunkenly slept with Essek Thelyss, the colleague he's been secretly crushing on for the last six months?
Why I loved it: Let me just start off by saying kmackatie is brilliant and everything shadowgast that katie writes makes my heart sing. In this fic Essek and Caleb are captured so well- they are both big idiots who act like scared cats around one another (even though they both want the same thing) but honestly- can there be any other dynamic? This hot mess of them not using their words eventually leads to the best of endings and you should all read it because it is so lovely.
_____
BONUS FIC: (high school teachers, less corporate feel, but not what I would throw on a professor or academia list so its a bonus for this one).
5 all this science i don't understand
all this science i don't understand (8858 words) by mllekurtz @mllekurtz Chapters: 1/1 Rating: Mature Summary: Caleb knew how he was with crushes, he was aware that historically they’ve brought him nothing but trouble, and vowed that he wasn’t going to develop one on his new colleague. This resolution lasted a remarkable twenty-four hours. * Small-town high school science teacher Caleb Widogast has his life more or less figured out, or so he thinks. Then an unexpected variable gets thrown into the equation in the form of the new addition to the teaching staff: the handsome and clever Essek Thelyss.
Why I loved it: This fic was so sweet. I have a soft spot for fics that play with chronology in their story telling and this one does a bit of that. It is a shorter read but honestly that works really well for this love story. Caleb of course falls hard and fast and Essek does not mind at all. Some angst, but they are written so well and so soft, Brilliant <;3

Rules
Tumblr media
Thank you for taking the time to read my rules! This is a bit long, but I will do my best to highlight the important parts!
These are stated in no order of importance
1 - While having canon as a baseline is important, I do incorporate headcanons in my portrayal. My list of headcanons can be found through my "About Muse" link on the tagged post of my blog. My headcanons are mine and mine alone- so please don't think a certain way of Lyney due to my personal writing.
2 - I only write with mutuals- if you follow me, I will check out your blog asap! If you send me DMs/Asks in a malicious way to try and force me to write with you, I will block you. (This sounds scary but trust me, I am super laid back! If I don't follow you back right away, please don't take it as a no! I sometimes just need to see your writing/posting style to see if we are compatible!)
2.5 - Anons are perfectly fine! I just will not turn a series of anons into a roleplay. I will answer questions (example: Lyney what are you doing?) but when you start adding things like "I baked you a cake!" who is "I"? Those are roleplays. When you want Lyney to interact with you as a character- it needs to be off anon. A one-time warning will be given but past that, I will block if it goes uncorrected.
2.6 - Sending letters/notes are also fine, but do not expect anything past a one-time response. Commenting on threads is also okay (Example: "Oh I don't think he is coming back")
3 - I do write with OCs so feel free to follow me if you write those! Please understand that if I do not follow back, it isn't because your character is awful or anything, I just may not know how to interact! I ask that you please have a About Page for your muse!
4 - I am from *old tumblr days*, so I apologize if I am slow with the new formatting systems.
5 - If I follow/interact with you, and you don't like that- please block me. I will take no offense over it.
6 - Lyney has an extremely tragic backstory- and I do write rps regarding that. Thus, if you are under 18, I am not comfortable writing with you. I have siblings that are minors and it feels weird because all I can think about is writing with my younger siblings.
7 - NSFW content will be on this blog, but it will be deleted at will. I do not normally typically enjoy writing such content but if I am feeling up for it, I will dabble in it. If you are only here to send me NSFW asks- be prepared to never have those answered or to only have me answer them once in a blue moon.
7.5 - Even if it does get brought up, it will never become graphic. "Heavy Petting" is as far as it will ever go. Again, if you are looking to write with a Lyney blog that will do NSFW 24/7. This isn't the blog you're looking for.
8 - You may notice that all my replies are "under the cut" except for some asks and a rare reply here or there. This is a personal preference and not because my content is filled with anything unviewable. I just want people who do want to see my writing to have to well, click to read. Any triggers/warnings will be thrown at the bottom of the post so you can decide if you want to read it or not!

any tips for starting a new writing blog?
hello dear anon!! oh my days it’s been so long since i started mine i cant really remember.
i would say remember that the first post is always nerve-wrecking and it’s ok to be nervous!! and subsequently the lack of notes since people wont know you and your style right off the bat! it’s ok to feel discouraged when you arent getting much attention too, since you are a newly established blog. the algorithm on tumblr sometimes sucks too :/
to me its personal preference but i like to have some semblance of a theme, or rather more of a post to consolidate everything that you post, not just your writings but also your faq, introductions, links, rules, etc. i usually look at a few writing blogs to see how they format things - everyone has their own ways of organising their pinned post and you can always mix and match to how you want to organise yours but it is NOT an invitation to plagiarise directly (yes, even if you change the colours of the theme to avoid suspicion). think of it with your own ideas and whatnot!!
NEVER. NEVER write on tumblr drafts on mobile. PLEASEEEE remember this. bc notifications appear on the bottom of the screen, sometimes the keyboard will go down and your finger might accidentally brush up against it. you will lose your work. it’s very very disheartening. another instance is also getting out of the app to fact check smtg for ur fic for eg and you come back to a previous post of your own from the notif ... and ur work is gone lol. writing on drafts is easier on desktop although i would say still have a safety net on google docs / notes / ur own writing notepad.
in regards to posting, if you are looking to fully be a sfw or nsfw blog then you can ignore this but i try to plan what kind of works i plan to post. if my smut works are doing well i try my hand at posting a fluff. smut works unfortunately will always get more notes imo, but dont get discouraged from writing fluff bc its still very fulfilling but the reality surrounding these genres are very distinct.
dont be afraid to delete asks or feel an obligation to answer every ask. at the end of the day it is ur blog and u choose what to put on it. if u get trolls and spammers just delete them or if u want to entertain them go ahead too.
be prepared to write out of your comfort zone. i know i said it’s ur blog and you choose what to put on it but sometimes i dont want to write the same trope with the same character and some of the requests allow me to improve my writing with characters im not too fond of for eg. i personally am still trying to push myself more, but it’s a good way to grow!
i like to attach a good amount of tags to my writing. the max on this site is 30 tags, i like to do around 15 or below that. to me it just looks less cluttered and neater. ofc w/ masterlists i usually just tag everything but for individual pieces i dont do a lot!
the writing community is to uplift too 💟 it isnt about who gets the most notes and interactions but rather to celebrate our love for the characters, so much so that we create stories out of thin air. be respectful and kind and dont be afraid to form mutuals! ignoring all the drama and craziness on tumblr sometimes it really is one of the best places to be at the height of your fandom!! enjoy anon!

MHA RP
Hello there!
I am looking for 18+ RP buddies to do some MHA RP with me! I apologize in advance for the poor formatting on this post, I’m a bit Tumblr illiterate XD;
I am a 34 female who has been RPing for literal decades and would love some new RP buddies in this fandom. I’m looking for a literate, paragraph style, 3rd person, past tense writing format to compliment my own. Sometimes I write novels, sometimes it’s a few short paragraphs, depends on the situation in the RP. I won’t call out your spelling/grammar mistakes (Lawd knows I make them myself) but I struggle to read posts that have many grammatical errors/many spelling mistakes and it takes me out of the RP. I enjoy all types of genres - angst, fluff, nsfw, drama, slice of life, a mix of all the above - as well as many types of settings, both canon and AU.
For ships, I’m looking for Yagi Toshinori/All Might and Aizawa Shouta/Eraserhead (Eraserhead) or Enji Todoroki/Endeavor and Keigo Takami/Hawks (EndHawks). I’ve played both All Might and Eraserhead a bit and I’ve yet to try EndHawks with anyone so I’m open to playing either for that ship as well.
I’m hopeful that my new buddy (or buddies!) will be around to post a few times a day if we miss each other timing wise, but would really like the ability to have a nice back and forth a few times a week. I’m happy to talk what you do and don’t like as well so we can keep away from any squicks you might have. I’m pretty open to just about anything with a few exceptions but we can talk about that in detail later. I’d also love to chat outside of RP!
My last caveat is that I’d prefer to RP on discord. I’ll give that info out through messages, so if you’ve made it this far and are interested shoot me one! Or if you want you can interact with this post and I’ll reach out to you.
All right, I think that’s it! Thanks for reading and hope to hear from you soon :)

I don't think tonal signifiers are a bad thing. That's basically what punctuation and emojis are. There's also the fun format going around where you saying something and then add the feeling behind it in parenthesis that I find really funny. Me @ my cat: stinky man (affectionate). We use a ton of different tools to convey tone over written communication, I don't think we need to limit ourselves or abandon one of those tools just because there are challenges with it. People who lie and use signifiers they don't mean are the same people who lie with plain words. You can manipulate and obfuscate your true feelings with or without using any tone tags. For complicated and obscure tags that don't have an obvious meaning, you can just ask the person who's using it what they mean, the same way we would ask someone what they mean when their words aren't clear. Overly long/complicated/general ones will naturally be rejected by wider online communities. Or having to look up chat speak or acronyms lol. The amount of times I've had to look up a different one over the decades, iirc, tldr, inb4, etc. I swear there's a new one everyday. Someone being a shithead and using tone tags they don't mean is just like someone saying something rude and ending it with haha jkjk :)!! Written communication will always need some level of clarification and will always hold some potential for intentional misleading, even after general consensus is met. At a certain point, you have to either get to know the person you're talking to, ask them what they mean, or make the decision to read what they're saying in good or bad faith depending on the context. Telling them they're coming across as a heel if they're playing games is also an option lol. (I use all we/yous generally)
--
I don't think we need to abandon anything. Write how you like to and how your friends do.
But recognize that language will always convey a wide variety of things about culture and group membership. "stinky man (affectionate)" tells me you're part of a particular kind of online group that uses that "(affectionate)", "(derogatory)" thing. I find that meme or whatever you want to call it confusing. I don't use it myself. That doesn't mean it's bad, but it does mean that trying to use it at me won't produce the same effect as using it at someone who normally uses it.
If someone adds "(sincere)" to the end of a statement, they sound like a robot. To me, it's always going to sound like a crutch for not knowing how to use traditional styles of writing or not being good at grammar and sentences with complex clause structures.
There's a reason I'm on tumblr, where you can write everything out, not twitter, where you're forced to abbreviate. I'll adopt LOL or IMO or whatever once it is so widely-adopted it's passé, but I don't tend to move quickly on language change.

Tumblr media
Hey everyone, I want to suggest something. A
Zekina Meme
What is this about?
Did you ever had an idea for a fic but not creative energy to create it? Now, this might be a solution for that. I want to introduce a Market of Ideas, a Zekina Meme (name pending).
This is based on so called “Kink-Memes” that had their height at the times of livejournal and dreamwidth communities. Back then people could prompt all kinds of wild (and I mean wild. It was very kinky) stuff - anonymously - and other could fill these prompts - anonymously. Some ideas got filled more than once, others never.
Many second or thirded those prompts.
Now, since this is tumblr let’s keep it sfw for now. But just in the image of Tina suggestive situations might happen. It’s EROTIC friend fanfiction after all.
But also not because fanart-fills and other things you can think of are allowed too.
How does it work?
The idea is very simple. You (the person reading this) submit a prompt, an idea you have been thinking about that you would love to read as a fanfiction or see a fanart of, but can’t bring yourself to create (no shame in that).
For example:
I’d like to read a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. I’d like to have Tina, Zeke and Jimmy Jr. as the three main characters (Red, The Wolf, The Hunter/Lumberjack). I don’t care which one is which but of course I want to have Tina/Zeke as endgame. + it has a lot of humor ++ a new spin I haven’t read before, though that might be hard +++ if you even write it in a fairytale style Do’s: Even if I prefer a humorous story I don’t mind a darker version either Dont’s: Please don’t make it too bloody or  if you decide for a darker turn.
Ideally we have one day multiple prompts maybe you (the person reading this) will read a prompt and get inspired to fill it.
The fill will then be uploaded on the website of your choice and you send in a link or reblog the prompt and add your fic. (we all know how tumblr works… in theory.) Prompts can be anonymous through an ask:
Tumblr media
But then the formatting might be a bit wonky and there isn’t a lot of space. You can also submit your prompt or fill
Tumblr media
But those are not exactly anonymous. (I think it’s possible to submit via e-mail)
A third version would be to post them to your normal blog and just tag this blog @TacosAndTouchtanks within your prompt or fill and we will reblog and also add link to another page that will be on this blog with a collection of all prompts and fills.
Either way, dont forget to tag your fills accordingly!
My prompt hasn’t been filled yet :(
That is the thing with free labour there is no guarantee that it will happen and you have no controle about “the quality”. If you absolutely want to see your idea to become reality you’ll have to commission someone. But putting your idea out there for others to find at least creates a chance that someone might get inspired by it and creates it for free.
Rules:
1. Everyone is welcome to participate.
2. This is an event to hightlight the romantic involvement of Tina and Zeke from the show Bob’s Burgers, but portrayals of them as friends are welcome too! Other ships are allowed and can also be used to create tension and drama. (You know the drill)
3. No reposting of other peoples work!
4. You do not need to have a tumblr blog to participate. However, if you are not blogging on tumblr and would like to see your work featured on this blog, I need you to submit it or send an anonymous ask.
5. Multiple prompts and fills are allowed but if you send in a lot of prompts try to also fill a prompt.
6. Don’t worry if you’re no native speaker. Use the language you feel most comfortable with!
7. Tag your works accordingly!
8. Take all the time you need! This is open end.
9. (I don’t feel like it should have to be said but…) No bashing on other creators’ works or harassing others. Zeke and Tina would never approve of bullying, and neither will I.
10. Please help to spread the word.
11. Have fun! <3
If you have any question, feel free to ask!

Journal for August 2022
From now on, I’ll be posting my DeviantArt journals here as well. I only write these like once or twice a year, lately...I’ll also write on the Summary of Art at the end of each year, of course. Let’s see if Tumblr’s formatting is better for it! (probably!) It’s long so here’s a readmore. By the way...
The last time I was on my computer, a tree fell on our house! :O  Well, that's what it sounded like anyway! I was on my computer watching videos when I heard a crack, a rustling, and then a very loud crash. Me and my mom looked outside to find a pine tree in the corner of the yard had snapped in half and and fallen in between our house and the next house. There was also a large branch sticking in between the fence and our house! It appears the tree had fallen more or less parallel to the fence in our yard, except for that one branch which I think hit the roof above my room and broke on impact.  Surprisingly, no one was hurt and there doesn't appear to be any damage to the house, although the fence was knocked open. We're very lucky considering all the ways the tree could have fallen, including onto an AC unit (expensive, important!), into my window (where I was sitting!) or into the neighbors window (where they were probably sleeping!). But it fell almost perfectly next to the fence instead... Gosh!  We're very lucky it didn't hit that AC unit, because it was just replaced last month, as it had stopped working! At that point the heat was already in the 80's and 90's and somewhat humid...but now? Wouldn't THAT have been terrible... but, yes, we are okay.  In other news... I have ideas to work on my website, but doing HTML is sometimes very complicated so I don't have much to show for it yet. For example, my old Windows XP acted like it didn't want to start up, so I finally copied all the files off of it, and looking through them made me nostalgic for those old fan sites on the late 90's and 2000's (example, example)... so my site might get yet another style change to show. I'm at the very same time thinking about making/adding a Pokémon section with my Fakedex... but should I really be trying to do all that at the same time? Sigh. Oh well, we'll see if I update my website anytime soon. XD  My mom has had several procedures regarding her back, so I don't do a lot of drawing or other things around these times because I am helping her with a lot. Of course, I still haven't made a Commission sheet and it sure won't get done during any of these times, lol...   If you are really interested getting a commission from me, I WILL consider, just send me a message and I'll take a look... one day I might remember to make a sheet, It just makes me nervous for some reason? It's difficult to get started... hmm.   Oh right, I meant to do Smaugust and forgot about it. Whoops! I'll probably still draw some dragons but they will be late. Is it still considered part of the challenge if I don't do it in order or all of the days? Well, I'm always glad to draw Dragons, so I suppose it doesn't matter as long as I have fun.   Hmm... what else is there to say? I'm still wearing a mask. I'm still forgetting to socialize. Oh yeah, the branch that fell in our yard? It was very big, but I moved it myself. I'm very strong >:3... I just had to clip some of the branches off first... at least we will have firewood this winter? ...It must be the end of the journal, because I've run of out things to say.
Thank you for reading! I hope you have a wonderful day.

The beauty of Hyperlinks
Day 54 - Dec 29th, 12.023
If you read any of my posts here on Tumblr, which are mostly these daily journal entries, you probably noticed something that always appears in them: Hyperlinks, most of them in any new term, brand, software, product, etc. And maybe, you thought, "why? Why so many links?", maybe even "is this a marketing strategy? Are you sponsored in some way?", and maybe if you have a similar mind to my "what are links anyway? Where they came from?". So I'm here to [try] to explain them all! Under 2 to 3 hours before the deadline of this blog post passes!
<\h2>A brief history of the World Wide Web</h2>
<p>The start of the World Wide Web was invented by English computer scientist Tim Berners-Lee, while working at CERN in 1989, because of the frustration of how user unfriendly the Internet was at the time. In 1989, the Internet was in its early stages, compared to now at least, in summary, most of the content that you accessed was using a terminal, commands, etc. there wasn't a "web browser", you needed to directly connect to a server if you wanted to get any time of file, information, and scientific researches (which was the main use of the Internet at the time). And also, you needed to search that file in a file system tree most of the time, relying on tagged files with keywords.<p/>
<p>Because of this unfriendly "interface" at the time, Lee created a new system/protocol, a new information system, called World Wide Web, and hosted said system on his own computer which his turned into a server. The WWW is mainly composed of two things:<p/>
<ul>
<li>Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP): the protocol built on top of the Internet's protocols, made for accessing this new way of sharing and consuming information;<li/>
Hypertext Markup Language (HTML): the markup language made to format and show text files similarly to ones for documentation and research. These files are organized in paragraphs, headers, etc. and most importantly of all: hyperlinks, small sections of texts which can embed URLs and provide immediate access to other HTML files / web pages. All said files and pages, could be viewed on a web browser, where the file would be formatted following its markup.<li/>
<p>And, as time passes, other technologies such as Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), for styling and "decorating" HTML documents; and scripting languages such as JavaScript, for adding interactivity to web pages and making our lives miserable, were created and are what create the Web as we know today. Everything because e scientist needed to share and access research papers and could bother to write ssh user@domain; ls -a ~/Documents | grep file in his fucking terminal, but at least, we know have Hyperlinks, something which I feel is underrated a lot of the times when using the World Wide Web.<p/>
The Wikipedia rabbit hole
If you are reading this until this point, and even more, if you're someone who uses Tumblr, you probably access Wikipedia a lot of times to find brief explanations for things you don't know, or even just to pass the time when you are low on internet. And, personally, I think that one of the best things about Wikipedia is how it's links everything, every term, topic and word with can be expanded upon, with hyperlinks. Every page has at least one link connecting it to another on the topic, and every single time, I at least hover each link to know what it's about, and probably ctrl+click to open it on a new tab to read it later, I think there's something special in that.
A lot of times you probably just end up lost, you entered on a page about JavaScript, and now is on the page about World War One for some reason. But most often than not, you end up learning something new, extended your knowledge about one topic, or even entered on a wiki about a topic you didn't even thought existed. Just by clicking hyperlinks one after another, going deeper in this network of interconnected files.
And you probably already know, but this is such a common thing when using Wikipedia, that a game was created, where you try to go from one page to another just using the links in the wiki, finding your way, trying to connect different topics.
Now think this effect, on the entire Internet.
The World Wide Web rabbit hole
To explain this, I think it's better with an example.
I had the idea of this post because of something that happened to me recently while procrastinating working on a Minecraft mod pack that I were creating for me (yes, somehow we are here now, but stay with me!). While creating packs, nowadays, I use a platform called Modrinth, where I can search mods, textures, yadda yadda... and a lot of times I try to just scroll through the list, trying to find new mods, something interesting, if maybe there's something useful that I can use that I can use.
While doing my "research", I found a mod called SplashFox, a simple and cute one that just adds a bouncy "blobfox" on the game's loading screen. I had already seen about this collection of emojis called "blobfox", but because it was hyperlinked in the mod's page, I clicked just to figure it out and see even if maybe I could use it in some project in the future as a custom emoji set for an application and things like that. The link navigated me to the emojis' author's personal website/portfolio's page about the collection. Quite a cool and beautiful website, not gonna lie.
The page had a bunch of others emoji collections, which I quite liked, and maybe I will use them in the future (all of them are licensed under an Open Source or Creative Commons license). Nonetheless, out of curiosity, I started to navigate the site and just go around seeing what it had.
The home page, very cozy... A work-in-progress "about me" page... Vector arts of dragons, the author is really talented... A notebook being worked on also... Bookmarks? Oh, "Things I found from anywhere on the internet", interesting...
And then, I found two things which stood out for me:
It had a bookmark about a microblogging platform called Firefish, one that it's connected to the Fediverse/ActivityPub protocol, so things like Mastodon, Pixelfed, etc. are all connected... and it is a fucking beautiful platform, with 4,000 users on it's main server, how the fuck I never heard of it?! I saved/bookmarked it right there, because no fucking way I will remember where to find it out of nowhere;
After that, I returned to the portfolio to see if I found something more on it. And the other bookmark that I found was a blog post/article: The peculiar case of Japaneses web design... I read all of it, right there at the moment, on one go, "out of curiosity".
I found, at least, two "interest gems", because I was searching a Minecraft mod... and one of the ones that I found, was a silly little modification about a blobby fox bouncing on the loading screen, which just happened to have a hyperlink.
That's the thing that I like to do when browsing the Web, and that's why I like to put hyperlinks on my blog posts. Because maybe, when someone read them and click on one of the links, they find a new interesting thing to learn, save, and even maybe, use in the future. That's the reason the World Wide Web was created, so always remember to put that <a> tag on your HTML, []() on your Markdown, or even, [[]] on that Wikitext page that you're creating or editing, and share new things to the world with a simple URL.

How We Made the Internet - by NationSquid This video really helped me to remember the history of the Internet, and of the World Wide Web for creating this blog entry. I really would recommend giving it a watch if you want more details and if you want to know more about how the Internet itself was created.

Why ahoy there!! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog! ✨ I'll do my best to keep this as short as I possibly can!! ☺️
I'm Nova, (she/her), and welcome to my Friday Night Funkin' rp sideblog!! I'm pretty new to a lot of this, even if it isn't my first rp blog- but I'm so excited to write with you!! Here are some of my most important blog details:
This singlemuse blog is for Lauren Dearest, better known as "BS"- she's an OC set in the Friday Night Funkin' Universe! Lauren and the Dearest family she belongs to were made by me, but Friday Night Funkin' sure wasn't!! ☺️
I have two other rp blogs for different fandoms!! You can also find me at @ellegaard, and @ourladyoflight !! ☺️
This is a sideblog so I can get to my inbox easier- my main is @novatheastropirate, and it's what my likes and follows will come from!! ✨
I'm always open to learning what I can do better! If there's ever anything I can change, like making certain things easier to read, formatting things better, or triggering things, I'm always willing to listen!! I want to make sure that this is fun and safe for others, too. ☺️
I'm not a minor, but I'm also under 21- and I'm not willing to do NSFW or explicit scenes!
Mun ≠ Muse!! If she's poked or prodded too much, or if she's being threatened, BS might say or do things that come off a bit snippish- but that'll never, ever reflect my feelings towards you!! (I love leaving little notes from myself in the tags too, and you'll always be able to distinguish between us- but if you're ever worried, I'll never be upset or angry if we talk about it! ☺️💜)
My writing style is really fluid, and I can match lengths- I always try to have at least two paragraphs!! (I can also get really verbose too- so if my replies look like a MLA research paper, please don't worry about having to match it!! ✨) I try to respond as early as I conveniently can, and communicate when I might have delays- especially in cases of exam seasons, or life being life!
I love plotting, shipping, and even just saying hello!! (I also love listening to people talk about their muses!!!) I’m pretty much always reachable through Tumblr’s DM system- and if you’d like my Discord, we can talk there too! 💜
I think this is just about everything!! If you ever have any questions about writing with me- especially in terms of shipping, or anything else- my DMs are always open, and I'm always excited to meet you! Stay peachy, and thanks so much for giving me and my writing a shot!! 😊✨

Writer Spotlight: Loryn Brantz
Loryn Brantz is the creator of the best-selling board book series Feminist Baby, The Good Advice Cupcake, Jellybean Comics, and Blanket: Journey to Extreme Coziness, as well as being a two-time Emmy winner. She is currently a Creative Director at BuzzFeed, where her work has been as silly as Disney princesses with realistic hair and as serious as mental health advocacy. Loryn lives in New York City with her husband, architect Jake J Brotter, and (non-architect) baby Dalia. She is trying her best.
What was the inspiration for Blanket: Journey to Extreme Coziness?
This book was actually inspired by a comic I made a few years ago, which was formerly inspired by a real-life occurrence! It took a while to translate it to a children’s book, though.
Tumblr media
How did you begin writing children’s literature?
I’ve been writing stories and drawing pictures for as long as I can remember—so it was just a natural progression as I got older. I initially went to school for traditional animation, but I missed being able to have a hand in every part of the process: story, character, colors, etc. So I started taking any book illustration job I could get while pitching my own ideas.
You’ve got a unique art style—what tools do you use to create your illustrations?
It depends on the project, but for BLANKET, I used photoshop, photographs, and various textures to create a more collaged hand-done look. But more often than not, I just use a photoshop brush on the ol’ Cintiq.
You’ve written for television, the internet, and have authored books—how does the writing process vary for these different forms?
The ideation process is surprisingly similar. The main difference, I think, is formatting and production—whether it’s printed on paper or you press a “publish” button, and it rockets into the internet-sparkle-space. For everything I do, I’m always thinking: “What do I wish I could see in this medium,” and “What would benefit people the most in this medium.”
What parts of yourself have you put into your characters?
Oo, this is a funny question! See below:
Jellybean Comics: My general human feelings—being tired, trying your best, being in love, insecurities, just trying to get through it all.
The Good Advice Cupcake: The feeling of being underestimated for acting “cute” or feminine but knowing I can f*ck shit up when I need to. Also, aggressive optimism (which comes and goes for me but is stable for Cuppy).
Feminist Baby: We both don’t like being told what to do!
Blanket: Loving to get COZY.
How do you practice self-care?
Unfortunately, I have been having trouble finding time to care for myself lately—between the pandemic, parenting, my kid’s special needs therapies, full-time job, and freelance jobs 🙃—but I do try to do this thing I call the “15 Minute Flail,” daily. I put on some music and set a timer to flail about for 15 minutes. It’s shocking how much better I feel during the day with just a little bit of moving around. I jump in place, punch the air, kick, do crunches, etc.—and then I always lay down and just focus on breathing for the last minute. Highly recommend it!
Do you have any advice for writers and illustrators on Tumblr?
Create the work you want to see in the world! Also, I always have to remind myself that with art, often the best part of the process is creating it! So don’t worry about the outcome as much—just try to be present while you’re making cool shit.
Thanks, Loryn! Blanket: Journey to Extreme Coziness is available now at booksellers everywhere. You can follow Loryn on Tumblr at @loryn-brantz-illustration. Her website is https://www.lorynbrantz.com/.

I loved your drawing of shorn Tyleko! (Poor baby) I don't want to be intrusive or anything (I have a hard time communicating via text) so feel free to disregard this if you don't want to, but would you be able to write a drabble or smth about Celegorm and Curufin + forced haircutting/hair shaving? You have this amazing writing style which I think would really bring the trauma and shaming of the headcanon to life!
Hey anon guess what I finally finished!
I mean first of all Thank you!! I'm happy you like the art (I'm still aghast that people apparently know and like my writing?? <3)
So that story *might* be a bit longer than expected, so I'm trying to put it under the cut, but I'll also upload it on ao3 und ther the same name as well! (@Maironsmaid)
So here we go, I hope you like it
(P.s. sorry for the formatting Tumblr is weird like that)
When the strands fall like teardrops
The crowd seemed restless, unsettled, shifting here and there, whispering, their eyes cast to where he stood next to his brother.
He grinned at them, beared his teeth, flashing his sharp canines.
They would learn what it meant to humble them. The proudest sons of Feanaro.
He laughed at the thought. Did Orodreth really think that he could break their spirit with a measle punishment?
What was he going to do? Brand them? Banish them? His mind flitted to their mother's face, to the burn scars still marring Curufinwe's hands and arms from where he held their father in death, to the grave face of Macalaure as he was announced regent and King in the absence of their brother.
There was no pain they had yet to learn.
The grand doors looming over the court opened and a hush fell over the crowd.
Oropher followed by Finduilas and Lalwen strode to the raised platform infront of Tyekormo. Once there Oropher turned around, looking down his nose and for a moment Tyelkormo wondered if he could even see them, with his head held so high.
Probably not.
A guard came to stand behind him and his brother.  He tensed as he felt cold chain links glide over his sensitive skin, pulling his arms behind him, leaving him open.
He snarled. How *dare* they!
How dare they chain him like this, like he was just some low criminal.
He was shoved to his knees and as he looked up at Orodreth, shining golden Orodreth, he felt a well-known fire spark in his soul.
Sparking like hot iron being hammered into a sword, like a torch ingiting a fire to eat at the rigging.
His mouth started to stretch into a grin like grimace. He would not be brought low today.
"Have you decided to show your face today oh *King*? Truly, a great honour you bring me and my brother.", his voice drippedwith poisonous honey. He sneered when the guard behind him pushed his head down.
The crowd fell completely silent as Oropher raised his hands.
"Eldar of Nargothrond! This gathering is not on the cause of great news or festivities; no. We are all here because we seek punishment to those who sought to sow Discord between our people, sought to take advantage of us mourning our King Finrod Felagund who left this coast while holding true to the promise he gave, kind hearted and humble as he will always remain in our memories!"
Next to him Curufinwe snorted and Tyelkormo had to agree.
Findarato had not been a bad king and not the worst of his cousins, but kind hearted and humble? He could think of several instances in his youth when Findarato and Macalaure had made his life hard with their behavior and tomfoolery. *Artistic liberties* they had called it.
Seemingly done with his speech Oropher motioned to his guards and Tyelkormo felt the heavy armoured hand of a guard on his shoulder, pressing him down, making him bow, cower before this false child King. Oh how he despised Orodreth.
Taking up the mantle of Kingship oh so humble. The same man, who he remembered snivelling and crying in his mother's arms playing the mighty, holding power he couldn't comprehend, had never learned to wield.
As the son of a daughter Orodreth should have never been in line for a throne, not like Tyelkormo, not like any of his brothers who where taught how to lead.
Princes by birth, leaders by right and fate.
And now here he was. Tyelkormo the Fair, the fey, Huntsman of Oromë. Kneeling before an impostor.
"Look at me Cousins, for you will now receive your punishments!"
"Oh I am looking *Cousin* hard to believe they let a weak bastard like you rule a kingdom. Are you sure Findarato wouldn't have preferred someone who knows the perils of war and leadership?" He spat the words trying to crack his cousin's mask.
A bitter feeling rose alongside the fire in his gut as Orodreth ignored his barb.
"Celegorm, you and your brother Curufin will be punished for treason against the court of Nargothrond as well as taking Princess Luthien of Doriath hostage against her will."
Orodreth's voice seemed to multiply as he once again motioned for his guards.
"You will be banished from Nargothrond at the threat of death should you come back. As a sign of your dishonour your heads will be sheared and hair burned. You may take the punishment in grace."
The King's face was stern as Tyelkormo felt the guard behind him grab his hair.
Pulling his head back, exposing his throat in an altogether humiliating way.
Tears burned in his eyes as he snarled, tried to curse Oropher and his whole rotten line.
A rough hand came from behind and pulled his hair back,  a mockery of a lover cradling him.
He heard the tell-tale sound of a blade being drawn, the cold metall ghosting over his exposed neck.
He tried to fight it, snarling, cursing, pulling away. Oropher would pay for this, pay for daring to do what he had done only in the name of his Lord.
Tyelkormo fell forward as the pull on his hair disappeared.
Hot tears threatened to spill as he pressed his brow to the cold tiles of Nargothrond's court. His hair played around his neck as the guard pulled him up, forced him into a kneeling position once again.
He felt the sharp edge of the knife kiss his scalp, strands of hair falling to the ground.
Star light locks mingled with raven dark ones. The light dancing in steel grey eyes as the ravenous fire devoured them.

Could studyblogging jumpstart your personal grimoire?
A witch should be a lifelong learner. To practice effective magic, you must grow in new directions at a constant pace. A witch should approach magic with a sense of devotion to their own growth.
I’ve practiced magic and divination for two decades now. The most solid advice I can give? Start journaling. Start keeping a notebook. Start studying.
Tumblr media
Witches who keep a notebook record their research and ideas about the Craft. This helps them build a wide repository of knowledge, right there when they need it.
The format and content of my notebooks changed a lot over the years. But they all helped me become the witch I am today. I devoted the bulk of these notebooks to my journey in magic, techniques to try, and lessons learned.
There are few people who haven’t studied. In school, we pore over geometry and classic literature in hot pursuit of elusive high marks. We spent time learning about our interests. Whether that’s witchcraft, philosophy, or astronomy, notes are helpful.
Everyone learns in a different fashion. Still, studying and learning about the world remains with us from our first breath, to the last. My Craft took leaps forward when this dawned on me. I’d always enjoyed school. I realized that I could apply the same study techniques to witchcraft and the occult.
What’s studyblogging?!
As a regular user of both Tumblr and Instagram, I soon came across the studyblogging trend.
Caitlyn Tiffany of The Verge describes the studyblogging phenomenon as “a beautiful, stressful wonderland.” An apt description! But what is a studyblog?
Studyblogging hashtags like #studyblr and #studygram  are popular (on Tumblr and Instagram, respectively).
For someone just coming across the phenomenon, though? It can be difficult to penetrate this strange world. Expect calligraphic chaos, a plethora of highlighters, and fine-tuned aesthetics.
Studyblogging focuses on the quest for knowledge. In practice, studyblogs share tips and handwritten notes on various subjects. Studybloggers encourage each other to be the best learners they can be.
The photos of notes, assignments, and other tasks make up the bulk of the phenomenon. Studyblogs often feature photos of elaborate calligraphy and heavy illustration in note form.
Expect to see self-made diagrams of mitochondria. Essay outlines on postcolonial theory with nigh-perfect bubble lettering. Vast, illustrated mind-maps of Shakespearean themes. It's a big community, and there's room for a lot. Room for witches? I think so!
Studyblogging for Witches
In witchcraft, our grimoires function much like a non-magical student's study notes. The content, and some of the form, may differ, but the principles are the same.
The quest for an aesthetically-pleasing grimoire stymies many a beginner (and not-so-beginner) witch. The wise remind us that our grimoires needn’t be complex. Functionality is more important than aesthetics in most cases.
That said, there is something worthwhile about keeping a grimoire that suits you. A  grimoire can speak to your soul, both by way of aesthetic appeal and your own abilities. For some of us, this might mean a lavishly-illustrated tome. Others might find minimalist styles more resonating. It varies.
The truth is that yes, your grimoire needn’t look a certain way or be perfect. Still, a level of aesthetic appeal can help with information retention. It can also boost your magical productivity. Humans respond in an intuitive fashion to that which they consider beautiful.
Aesthetics can help to put you into a liminal state. Liminality can be a powerful tool in self-improvement. This, in turn, is useful not only for normal studying, but also for the Craft itself.
If you see art as part of your life path, you might find that approaching your grimoire as a work of art helpful. Part of this means realizing that it won’t be perfect, but also always striving to learn and grow.
Studyblogging, as a community, showcases a lot of excellent notebook and journal-keeping techniques. Studybloggers often provide tutorials and guides to effective learning methods.
This is, of course, all while celebrating the joy of learning itself. Traditional studying methods can apply to magical topics. I have found that the techniques of the studyblogger can help with keeping a useful grimoire.
Ask your intuition if studyblogging is right for you!
Tumblr media
Will studyblogging help you? For some students, lurking or keeping a studyblog inspires and motivates them. It also increases accountability. By posting their goals and progress, studybloggers have an impetus to progress.
In a way, it’s a bit like livestreaming a video game - it makes the experience more challenging, and also more exciting. The difference, of course, is that, in this case, your game is learning!
And the notes? Many find the calligraphy, fancy scripts, and illustration soothing. It can be a way of making otherwise impenetrable subjects more captivating.
Without a doubt, aesthetic presentation improves information retention for some people. Humans have a positive response to beautiful imagery.
Some folks find the gorgeous landscape of studygram and studyblr overwhelming and anxiety-inducing. Gorgeous calligraphy notes, after all, aren't easy for most people.
For some, posting about your studies on a blog might only increase worry. We're all different, and studyblog techniques are hardly universal in form.
You should use your intuition to decide whether to dip into this community. Ask yourself whether an audience will help your quest for deeper knowledge.
Will you feel empowered, or nervous about it? If you struggle with comparing yourself to others, you might find studyblogging discouraging.
I myself am somewhat of a perfectionist. For me, though, the artistic aspects of note taking and information illustration soothe me. Studyblogging suits me, but will it help you?
You should tailor your learning experience to your own strengths. If that means studyblogging won’t help you, be honest with yourself and don’t chase the anxiety of it all. Find another method of learning.
Browse some existing studyblogs - I recommend EmmaStudies and StudyQuill. Ask yourself how it makes you feel. Do the images and writing seems inspirational?
Would you enjoy sharing your work with the world? Studyblogging might become an ally on your magical path!
Taking the Plunge
Tumblr media
So, how do you start a studyblog? How do you get involved in the community?
The most popular studyblogging platforms are Instagram and Tumblr. Instagram lends itself to posting tons of pictures and very short-form posts. Tumblr favors longer prose.
When I started studyblogging, I created both a studyblr and a studygram. I recommend starting a new account on the site of your preference for studyblogging.
Follow some existing studybloggers as a way of introducing yourself to the community! Also, follow the hashtags #studyblr and #studygram, to start.
What to study?
Studyblogging features students focused on all kinds of topics. I’ve been studyblogging for over a year. In case you’re wondering, it's rare for someone to complain about my witchy take on studyblogging.
You’ll find the studyblogging community very welcoming in most cases. But what will you study? I always recommend witches focus on only one or two things they’d most like to learn at a time.
Studyblogging lends itself well to in-depth topical research. This can mean learning the signs and language of astrology or the basics of gemstone magic.
Topics like shadow work or personal Tarot readings might be a bit too personal to blog about. Those might be better suited to normal, private journaling rather than a blog. My own studyblogging tends to focus on my writing preparation, astrology, and Tarot.
Though I’ve been reading for over twenty years, there is always something new to learn about Tarot. Astrology, like Tarot, is a lifelong discipline. Though I’ve only recently made my first steps into it, there is much to learn. My writing, especially the book I’m working on, has its own notebook.
Possible topics include, but are in no way limited to:
Crystals and gemstones
Astrology
Spellcraft
Mythology and legends
Magical history
Energy work techniques
Seasonal and Lunar cycles
Herbology
Tarot, Lenormand, or oracle deck divination!
It is important to choose topics that interest you in a personal way. At the same time, try not to get distracted. Witchcraft includes many paths of study. Try not to jump from topic to topic - finish what you start!
Supplies
If you’re in school, you may already have a lot of the tools necessary for studying. If not, you can get them for an affordable price in most cases.
Paper matters!  You'll want a notebook or loose leaf binder paper. For hardbound notebooks, you can’t go wrong with a Leuchtturm 1917.  That popular notebook boasts dot grid paper, includes page numbers and a place for an index.
Seeking something more aesthetic? Check out the Paperblanks series from Peter Pauper Press. You might also like the notebooks you can order from Citrus Bookbindery. For me, a binder (I use A5 size) works best, because I can add and remove pages as necessary.
You can find some great guides out there about organizing grimoires. Much of that advice applies here. Your notebooks will soon fill the role of a grimoire.  They will contain your notes, research, and more.
It is usually best to have one notebook (or binder) for each subject you’re studying. As you move forward, you’ll have a collection of grimoire notebooks on different topics.
You’ll also need pens or pencils. Really, you only need one. If you feel like getting fancy, you can get multicolored fineliners. I prefer Sakura Micron pens. They use waterproof micropigments that don't bleed when you highlight over your writing.
Highlighters are fun! These add color to your notes and help emphasize the important things. If you want nice highlighters, I recommend Mildliners. Any highlighters will do, though - choose colors that appeal to you. I recommend several different colors, because that allows you to color-code your notes.
Plan!
Plan out, at least in a rough fashion, how you’d like to organize your  notes. This can be rather freeform, or complex, depending on your preference.
When I began my astrology journey, I knew what sections I would include in my stars grimoire. I also created a rough map of the path I’d take in my research.
I began with the simple Zodiac signs. I then moved forward through the planets, houses, aspects and transits. My organization, loose though it was, benefited from my use of a binder which allowed me to add and remove pages.
No matter the notebook, it is important to have, somewhere, a rough idea of where you’re going.
You will also find it important to set attainable, realistic, and measurable goals. For me, this was things like memorizing the astrological house system. I set the goal of reading my astrology textbooks completely and summarizing them. This kind of goal leads to personal accountability.
I also created a set of astrological flashcards for my Tarot-related work. It can be motivational to post your goals on your studyblog in some form. Then, you can provide your followers with regular updates on your progress.
Start posting!
Once you feel ready, go ahead and introduce yourself to the studyblogging community! An introductory post, explaining who you are, your goals, and methods, will help others get to know you.
I recommend tagging your posts with studyblogging hashtags (mentioned above). Also include some witchcraft-related tags! This will help you connect with other witches who might be helpful on your journey.
Don’t be shy when it comes to posting photographs (taken with a phone or other camera) of your notes! You might not feel that your notes are as neat or pretty as other bloggers. Regardless, they’re unique and might resonate with others!
If you’re taking notes about a very personal topic, like shadow work, you might want to forgo the pictures. Some bloggers obfuscate or blur potentially sensitive parts of their notes. You’ll likely find nothing but encouragement for sharing your research topics, though!
Some studybloggers will also photograph their study space. Some of us even use photos of fun things like their breakfast or pets to illustrate their updates. If pictures don’t suit you, post regular bits about your life and your progress towards your goals.
Get to know other bloggers! This is important, whether they’re witches or from the studyblogging community. Both can be helpful!
Watch or read some of the tutorials you’ll find in the studyblogging community. These focus on things like calligraphy, organization, and memory techniques.
While your notes needn’t have fancy headings, calligraphy can be fun to learn. I don’t currently use calligraphy in my notes, but am learning it on the side, so to speak.
I find it relaxing, and you might enjoy it too. If not, don't feel bad - not everyone uses fancy handwriting, and that's okay!
Moving Forward
Tumblr media
If, after a few weeks, you find yourself really vibing with studyblogging, stick with it! Most witches would agree that there’s no real wrong way to be a witch. To me, though, there are wrong (and right) ways for you yourself to learn and grow in your craft.
You need to find what works for you, what adheres to your soul and keeps you connected. If studyblogging ends up helping you, and I hope it will, keep going!
After a while you might find yourself ready to move onto another topic. We all end up “graduating” forward onto other subjects. You’ll quickly find that your grimoires will be an invaluable record.
They will contain not just your gathered information, but also your intuition, insight, and more. Cherish your notebooks - they will come to reflect your essence!

Note
If you're doing the prompts, 36, 102, and 268 with Simeon please 🤲
Okie, so. A few things.
1) I’ve never actually answered an ask on Tumblr, so if the format is off, I AM SO SORRY.
2) I used the prompts, however, I reworded them to fit my writing style, and also make the story flow better. Hope that’s okay!
3) I did make a reference with the safeword. Kudos to you if you know what it’s from!
❀⊱┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄⊰❀
The prompts were
- “Don’t be gentle.”
- “You deserve a reward for being so good today, what would you like it to be?”
- “Even angels can be bad.”
❀⊱┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄⊰❀
You were impressed.
Just before school started, you slipped a buttplug into Simeon, and proceeded to spend the entire day flicking through the different intensities.
You’ve been with Simeon for a little over 6 months, and the longer you were together, the more comfortable he got. And the more comfortable Simeon was, the more vocal he became.
So you were shocked when he was able to keep his whimpers and whines at bay.
Well, expect for when Luke was having him try his new scone recipe, and you turned the vibrator to the highest setting, and he let out a loud moan.
Luckily, he was able to blame it on how ‘heavenly’, the scones tasted, so nothing really became of it.

As soon as classes ended, you practically dragged Simeon to your room in the House of Lamentation.
Pinning him against the door, you grabbed his waist, before leaning in.
“You did so well today, Baby Boy. I think you deserve a reward, no?” you cooed, nipping at his earlobe.
You could feel him nodding rapidly.
“Well, Baby, what do you want your reward to be?”
Simeon responded by mumbling something into your shoulder.
“Gonna have to speak up, Angel. Mommy can’t hear you when you mumble.”
He lifted his head, before repeating what he said.
“I was hoping that maybe we could try out the new outfit you bought me?”
“The maid outfit? With the cat ears?”
Shaking his head, Simeon sighed, before quietly muttering, “Schoolgirl one.”
“Ohhhh.” You said. You had bought two outfits off of Akuzon as part of your 6-month anniversary present. You were both so busy cramming for midterms, that you hadn’t had the chance to use them yet.
“Of course we can. Wanna go grab that from your room while I get things ready in here?”
“Yes, please.”
“Always so polite, Baby.” You said, giving him a kiss on the cheek, before moving towards your bed.
“Anything for you, Mommy.” Said Simeon, blushing.
❀⊱┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄⊰❀
10 minutes had passed, and you only had a few minor things to adjust. The only thing missing was Simeon.
A soft knock on the door pulled you from your thoughts.
Speak of the devil. Or, well. Angel, I suppose.
“Come in, Love!”
You could hear quiet shuffling, and the crinkling of a bag, before it went silent.
Turning around, you looked at your boyfriend.
“You wanna go to the bathroom to get changed? I’m just about finished here.”
“Okay.” He said, taking a few steps, before stopping to look at you. “What’s the scene gonna be?”
Pausing, you thought for a minute.
“How about… I’m your professor, and kept you behind because you’re failing my class?”
A small smile spread across Simeon’s face.
“Sounds good to me.”
“Safeword?” You asked.
“Pineapple juice.”
“Okay, now that that’s settled… Go!!” You giggled, pushing him into your bathroom. “I wanna see you in that outfit already!!”
You shut the door, before yelling, “Scene starts when you leave the bathroom, Dollface!”
❀⊱┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄⊰❀
A few minutes later, and a bashful Simeon peeked his head around the door.
“Start?” You reaffirmed.
A thumbs up from Simeon, and you were set.
“Well? Aren’t you going to come in?”
His eyes widened a bit. Glancing down at his outfit, he slowly inched his way into the room.
“Today please, Mr. Simeon.” You said, inspecting your nails.
At your words, Simeon moved forward until he stood directly in front of you.
“Do you know why I called you here, Mr. Simeon?”
Simeon gulped, looking at his feet.
“Yes.”
Reaching out and grabbing his chin, you forced him to meet your gaze.
“Yes, Ma’am.” you said.
“Yes… Yes Ma’am.” He stuttered.
“And why did I call you here?”
“Because… Because I’m failing your class…”
“Correct, Mr. Simeon. I’ve looked over your grades, and after that last exam, I’m afraid I am unable to let you pass.”
“But Ma’am!” Simeon cried, “I need to pass! I can’t fail! Oh, please Ma’am, isn’t there any way I can make it up?”
You raked your eyes over him.
God, you really did a nice job picking out his outfit. A red headband, complete with a bow, sat atop his head. A classic white button up, tied like a bra around his chest, leaving his gorgeous stomach on display. A sleek red tie, done messily around his neck. And riding low on his hips was a skirt. Well, calling it a skirt was giving it a bit too much credit, considering it was barely a scrap of fabric, but it still looked stunning nonetheless. And last but not least- thick, white, thigh-high socks, and a pair of black Mary Janes covering his feet.
It seemed he had also done his makeup at some point- eyeliner and black eyeshadow, paired with a bright red lipstick.
Fuck, how you wanted to ruin him.
Simeon shifted anxiously, clearly waiting for a response.
You slowly stood up, grabbing his waist.
“There is one way…”
“I’ll do it! Thank you, Ma’am! Thank you so much for this opportunity!”
“Fuck, you’re so pretty.” You murmured, gazing steadily into his eyes.
“...Ma’am?” Simeon answered timidly, eyes wide.
You pulled his body flush against yours. A quiet gasp rewarded you for your actions, before you swallowed it with your mouth.
Slowly tracing his lips with your tongue, you squeezed his ass. His mouth opened in a moan, giving you the chance to slip your tongue into his mouth. Gently cupping his jaw, you continued kissing him, before finally parting for air.
Simeon was panting, looking up at you, eyes heavily lidded. You could see a few smudges of lipstick in the area around his lips, making you chuckle.
You pulled away to sit on the bed, making him whine.
“You answered 20 questions incorrect on your last exam, Mr. Simeon. You know this sort of thing can’t go without punishment.”
“But Ma’am, I-”
“No buts. I want you over my knee. Now.”
Simeon seemed to hesitate, before slowly laying himself over your lap.
Grabbing the ruler from the bedside table, you spoke.
“Mr. Simeon, you will be receiving 20 strokes; one for each problem you missed. I want you to count them aloud. If you mess up counting in any way, we’ll start over. Am I clear?”
“...Yes Ma’am.” Simeon muttered.
You grabbed a handful of his hair, yanking it until your eyes met his.
“Louder, Mr. Simeon. I can’t hear you.”
You felt his cock twitch where it rested on your thigh, making you smirk.
“Yes Ma’am!” He said loudly, all the while maintaining eye contact.
“Good.” You said, throwing his head back down. “Let’s get started then, shall we?”
Using the ruler, you flipped his skirt up, revealing his ass.
“Oh?” You said. “What’s this?”
Tracing your fingers along the seam, you admired the white lace thong he wore.
“God, what a slut. It’s like you wanted me to punish you.”
Simeon moaned and wiggled his ass in response.
You ran your palm over him a few more times, before switching back to the ruler.
Bringing your arm back, you let the ruler fall onto his right cheek. Hard.
“Ahh!” Simeon squeaked, jolting forwards on your lap, thighs pressed tightly together.
You waited a moment, before grabbing his hair again.
“What did I just fucking tell you, you useless fucking whore?” You seethed.
You could see Simeon running through his memories, trying to find what he did wrong. It was another moment, before horrified realization flashed across his face.
“...You told me to count,” he said, avoiding your gaze.
“Correct. I didn’t think we would be starting over this soon. After all, aren’t angels supposed to be good at taking directions?”
“I…” He said, looking around wildly.
“I guess angels can be bad, too, huh?”
Simeon only whimpered in response.
You went to strike him again, but paused before you swung.
“Remember to count this time, Mr. Simeon.”
And with that, the ruler went flying down onto his left cheek.
“One!” Simeon said, before he peeked up at you.
“You don’t have to be gentle, you know.” He began. “I can take it.”
“Oh really?” You said with a laugh. “You’ll regret saying that, Mr. Simeon.”
You swung again, and again, and again.
❀⊱┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄⊰❀
“Thirteen, foURTEEN, FIFTEEN!” Simeon squealed, as you landed three harsh slaps in rapid succession.
Running the ruler over the marks, you spoke.
“Only a few more to go, Mr. Simeon, and then you’ll be done.”
Sighing in relief, Simeon let his head hang briefly.
Your next hit was hard- the hardest yet- and it landed directly on the skin where his ass met his thighs.
“SEVENTEEN!” He cried, biting his lip.
“God, what a dumb little angel you are, Mr. Simeon.” You tutted.
Simeon’s eyes flew open, and his head whipped around to face you. He looked at you in confusion.
“What number comes after fifteen, Mr. Simeon?”
He let out a gasp, before frantically trying to explain.
“Ma’am, it’s. I-”
“You knew the rules, Mr. Simeon. Again. From one.”
❀⊱┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄⊰❀
“NINETEEN!”
Simeon was wrecked. Absolutely fucking wrecked.
His ass was a dark red, and covered in welts. His face was pink and blotchy from crying. Eyeliner ran down his cheeks in messy streaks, and there was a huge smear of lipstick on the left side of his face. He was ruined.
But despite everything, his cock laid hot and heavy against your thigh.
Your last hit was a bit lighter than the previous ones, but you made sure to clip his balls in the spank.
“SHIT! OH FUCK. TWENTY. TWENTY TWENTY TWENTY.” he wailed, before cumming all over your lap.
You laughed, grabbing a handful of his ass.
“Did you really just cum from getting spanked?” you said. “You must’ve wanted this pretty damn bad, then.”
You hoisted Simeon up, until he sat straddling your lap. Tilting his chin up, you continued.
“You may have passed the test, but you still have a number of outstanding assignments. And not to mention your horrible attendance.”
He sniffled.
“How can I make it up to you?”
“Well,” you began, “you can start by sucking my strap.”

Interview with my friend A.L. Crego
I have not met A.L. Crego.  I have not spoken with him on the phone, in fact I do not even know what he looks like.  But I can confidently call him my friend.  Three years ago when I started this blog he immediately disagreed with me in the comments about things I was writing and I loved it.  As a person putting ideas out there, you treasure things like that....because you know someone cares.  We have had many back and forth discussions over the years....if we had lived in Paris in 1911 we would be having arguments at La Rotonde (not to compare either of us to Picasso).
A.L. Crego is a motion artist who does a wide variety of things.  He has now become a very visible and active figure in the NFT Movement.  He recently completed a large and very successful project in which he animated the work of a number of well know street artists on the building themselves, something he has done for years.  His Tumblr page is a good place to start to see his work, which is largely surrealist in nature -- another Spanish artist following in the footsteps of other great Spanish surrealist artists.

How long have you been creating gif art?
In a conscious and intentional way since 2014. Previously I haven't pay too much attention on one hand for its common use that was mostly ads and funny little videos, and on the other hand because it was a 'standard' format we accepted as something part of the web so I never stopped to analyze its potential. The key point for me was about 2010-2011 when the concept of 'Cinemagraph' was brought to life just giving it a name. It's format is .gif but its characteristics are different so I saw there the midpoint between photography and video, which gave born another format of art.
Art mutates when a new format appears. I was using and studying this format since then but it wasn't until 2014 that I decided to publish some of them.
What is your background?
In general terms, bachelor, 2 years of stone sculpting and two attempts of photography and audiovisual mediums. I say attempts because I gave up both of them as I was feeling that I was looking for something else more than studying all the previous history, style and isms, which is nice to understand where everything comes from and to be aware what are the key points on the history to use as reference, as a map. But in some way I felt limited as I was using digital tools since I had my first computer with 14 years, and I was being taught things I learnt by then. Even more in this times we are living where we are 21 century people, been taught by teachers from the 20 with 19 century methods.
A constant line that feeds my background is literature and music overall and later Street Art, next to more temporal interests as everything related with mythology, alchemy, history, psychology, neurology, biology, human condition in general... I don't have studies buy I'm a studying guy!
I always like to highlight that all these years that internet got strong and social networks appeared, I decided voluntary to be out of them. First reason was to keep my privacy safe in a growing world where it seemed that some "curtain" felt and everybody accepted that intimacy was now 'ex-timacy' and correct to show their private life, (this shocked me). Another reason was about the psychological effect that social networks were having on people I had around and everywhere in general. I started to notice patterns and "waves" about series, aesthetics, styles, and I was seeing clearly that if I go there, I will become permeable to all this "Amniotic Culture" I was trying to avoid.
This fact of being far (but study them closely) helped me a lot about researching and developing my own ideas and style, for the mere fact that I was using all this time and attention Social Networks require, on drinking from another sources. The B-side of this is that I was 'out of the radar' of mass people as this social networks are designed to live inside them. My idea of internet and spreading ideas is not in this way.
Where do you live and work?
In the north west of Spain, Galicia. Now due to Covid I travel less but before it, I was working and traveling many places as I only need a camera and a computer. This allows me move to work anywhere.
Do you think that animated gifs are a new art form?
I think so, despite the fact that the format existed since 1987. But as every new format of art it takes its time to be considered as art. The first photographs were not considered art until many years later. Same happened with film, same with CGI. Is nice to have in mind that gif format is the last strictly digital format of the three main ones on the web: picture, video and gif. Photography has about 200 years of history, video about 130, CGI about 60. Finally gif has 33, and used as art itself no more than 10-15. In the same way anybody takes a picture of anything does not convert it into art, is the same with gifs. One thing is the format, another is the 'art'. Everybody can take a picture, record a video or do a gif. The difference is on the how, the why, and from my point of view overall, the what.
Do you think that there is a difference between pure .gif files and the .mp4 files that people post on Instagram?
The first, big and obvious difference is the format. Is not the same a painting as a picture of a painting. Here happens the same. For example, if you treat a gif with Cinemagraph technique, you are converting in picture some parts of the image, so they still remain and with the texture and totally stillness of a picture. If you convert this gif into a mp4 this still parts, despite not having motion, will convert into a video texture (noise, subtle motion in pixels, etc) so the main characteristic, among the perfect loop, is lost. Another point is that you must play a video, a gif is always running. Waterfalls are always running and this characteristic is something that is inside our human nature, we react nice to "bucle" motions as waterfalls, fire, etc. We find pleasure on this. Of course if it's a video the perfect loop is lost and the visual mantra disappear. And another key point here is the soundtrack. In a video you can use sound to enhance or give another meaning to the piece that you can't with gifs. For me this is another characteristic that give meaning to gif. For me gif is silence, the sound is generated by the motion, the melody are the details and the beat the perfect loop. You can "hear" almost every gif.
The difference between a gif and a video is the same that between a waterfall and a hose (if this works).
What do you think are the characteristics of good gif art?
For me first and overall the perfect loop. Not using it is not using the only format that has this characteristics. Of course there can be gif art that is not perfect loop, but from my point of view and in my work is a must. It's a new way not only of creating but also of thinking. Imagine an still scene is easy, imagine an A-B point action is easy. For me the challenge is about thinking an idea that is perfect looped where all the elements interact and eventually come back to its initial point. Succeed doing this is where the perfect loop appears and you are not able to find where is the start point of the action. Like a visual mantra, that it's repetition leads you inside the piece. Gif art is nice to use the power of the hypnotic movements. Another point to have in mind for me is the flow of it, the frame rate I mean. Depending on the idea and the kind of animation this should vary; is not the same fps to achieve something with flow than if you want to achieve a more 'retro' old style. Another thing is about dithering and color palette. This second one is essential to understand as it affects the final file. When we work with photo and video we are using millions of colors but when rendered as gifs all the gradients, lights and even colors will change if there is a previous understood of this point.
As summary: If motion doesn't add, change of enhance the meaning of the piece, is expendable.
I'd would like to add that I'm not really supporter of this kind of gifs generated automatically that just move a still image itself. I understand that this 'technique' is used as a tool for certain motion (I use it) but not to move a whole image. I feel the same as if somebody hold a painting in front of me and moves it randomly. If the work was born still, it must remain still. A good example of 'inner motion', this means that the motion is implicit on the image despite not being in motion, are the photographs of Cartier Bresson for example. Giving motion to this pictures for example, will kill it because it will break the concept of 'perfect instant' .
'Instant' differs etymologically from 'moment' in the motion. So, still image (painting, photo, sculpture, etc) is an instant, videos are stories with a-b point, and gifs are moments, the mid point.
How would you describe your gif art?
I usually condense it as "Visual Mantras", as the technique and the aesthetic vary depending on the idea , but in all of them the perfect loop and the intention of hypnotizing is always present.
In another terms about aesthetics and themes I think ‘Industrial Nature’ can fit nice. I use a lot of industrial elements but I like to mix their mechanics with the biological natural ones.
How long have you been creating and selling NFTs?
I am selling NFTs since mid 2019, but it wasn't until October 2020 that I focused more on it and dug into the ecosystem to find new paths to focus my work.
Do you think that NFTs are a positive for gif artists?
For me, and the main reason I jumped into cryptoart and NFT, is that now I can certify my digital work as original. Even more to gif works as they were always understood as something banal and minor for the context of its born. Gif art was born prostituted, used mostly for ads and to claim our attention on the internet, next to the highest glamour of painting and traditional art, and 3d, photography and video these last decades. Even worst if we realize that gif format was the only visual format born by and for the internet.
NFTs are totally positive for gif artists because despite being a digital/online native format it never had its own ecosystem to live in. I feel that I was creating creatures for an ecosystem I was waiting to drop them there. Now with the blockchain, NFTs and cryptoart, I found the place where they can live, being watched by everybody and have the certify that is my work. Until some months ago my work was "free" on the web and I had no control over it at all. This was a huge problem I was suffering since my first month into gif art as people use it indiscriminately with no credit at all. It's ok, and I always defend that my work is to be seen, to be shared, but I was looking for the way to be able to have this link with my work without losing the option of being available for everybody. NFT totally changes this.
What do you think will happen in the future as NFTs get even more popular?
In general terms I think it will happen the same as when print got more popular. People will use it more, a lot of crazy and useless things will appear, tons more of different uses and useful purposes, (not only on art). This opens a new door a lot of people was waiting so the future is unpredictable but we can feel where things are going. NFT arrived to stay and the concept of decentralization is something that was always present on the internet since first days but born inside a centralized system. NFTs are being a way for people to understand the 'peer to peer' philosophy and this makes people think in different codes, so we can expect a lot of new horizons, in art, music, design...
What do you think of the environmental impact of NFTs?
This question can goes really deep but in general terms I think that is something that is being oversized due to the hype and the boiling point we are, and it's understandable because is not false that it has an environmental impact, as everything does. But on the other hand I have two main areas in mind. The first and the obvious from my point of view is that when something is new and developing is less efficient, in the way that it requires more effort to achieve the result. But at the same time, the more this technology is used the more is developed and all this issues are part of it. The first car was not electric.
The second point that usually reverberates in my mind and that it seems that 'hard critics' omit is that they are not having in mind that this NFTs we mint, give us a profit that can be used offline to do another things that can be useful to solve this problem, for example, investing part of this money on living on our own in a minimal and clean way (not working for huge multinational that their environmental impact is tons times more than NFTs and then being part of an ONG to feel clean) and on using part of this money on looking and researching new ways to mint and to keep this digital ecosystem more efficient and clean. Every development needs time.

How long have you been writing fanfics? If the MCU wasn’t your first fandom, what was?
I published my first fanfic on FFN in 2015 for Naruto and RWBY. From there, I discovered a community of Overwatch writers on Tumblr by 2018 and began writing fanfic for Overwatch until I got into the marvel and started writing Avengers fanfic in 2019.
What helps motivate you to write? Where do you find inspiration?
If I am procrastinating and looking for motivation, usually I will go back and re-read some of my works to get the gears in my head thinking about future scenes and plot. I like to think of myself as a maladaptive daydreamer and visualize my story to help organize the plot. I also try to re-read some of my favorites from other writers as good inspiration to remind myself of the type of dark!fic and writing style I'm hoping to achieve.
If you could give new writers any advice, what would it be?
Read from your favorite fanfic authors and ANALYZE their work. I don't mean to say "be critical", but notice the things they do right! Or in better terms, notice the things you like about their writing. Some writers are talented at exposition or narration, detailed descriptions, setting the tone (especially for dark!fics) in their writing, paragraph formatting and grammar; understand all the writers that inspire you and adopt parts of their writing style that you like from all of them to help improve your own writing and create a unique style that you can appreciate.
The last advice I will give is a classic saying that I think all writers are well familiar with: "show, don't tell". It's something I'm still trying to get better at myself, but I do think that writing descriptively helps! And trying to balance that with some exposition and narration can make the difference in the pacing of your fic. There's a lot of resources online, so I suggest checking it out if your still confused! The internet is always available to help you with writing!
What is your favourite dark trope and/or kink? Why?
As much as I wouldn't mind listing off every trope and kink I love, I think I can sum them all up as any trope or kink that has disturbing intimacy. So breeding kinks and A/B/O's are a yes! Not so much other things like gun/knife kinks. Along that, any type of yandere trope that shows some sort of one-sided affection to the subject of said affections.
Share a few lines/paragraphs of one of your stories that truly sums up your style. Don’t forget to share a link to the story!
I will leave a lengthy snippet below from my Overwatch story, 'Hime'. It's currently still in progress and available to read on AO3. (https://archiveofourown.org/works/18539803/chapters/43942510)

“Don’t take me away from him! I’m not leaving!”
But no amount of strength you had could help you as Hanzo finally ripped you away from Genji.
“No! Nooo!” You beat your fists over the Shimada lord, but they did nothing while Hanzo quickly lifted you into his arms, carrying you like the bride you were supposed to be, walking the two of you away from the crowd.
You turned over to face them again, yelling louder, “Please! Someone save my husband, please!” You cried even harder watching all the shocked expressions from everyone. They all roamed closer to Genji’s dying body, but none of them made a move to help him.
You reached out for your love, and countless more tears washed down your face, but when the gates to the palace suddenly came into your vision, closing itself from the city, did you turn to Hanzo.
“Brother! W-where are you taking me?” Hanzo didn’t respond but instead continued to walk through the compound and up the stairs that led to the Shimada’s home. You struggled out of his grip, but Hanzo’s grasp was firm and unyielding. You cried out in pain when his hands held your body even tighter to his hot chest. The doors into the home opening as he led both of you inside. You continued to cry until he eventually led you to his room.
Hanzo released you then, placing you down on your feet only for you to try and bolt away from him a few seconds later. Hanzo quickly grabbed you by your forearm before you even reached the door, and pulled you further back into the room.
“Hanzo stop!” You yanked your arm, but he did not let go. “Stop Hanzo! Why are you doing this? Please! Genji is your brother! I am your sist—”
You couldn’t finish when Hanzo turned to you, more furious than you have ever seen a man before. “You are not my sister! You are my wife! And I will consummate this marriage tonight!”
What did he say?
His wife?... Consummate?
You screamed.
Is there a dark trait you like to interweave into your dark characters? Is there something in particular that draws you to this characteristic?
I enjoy dark!characters that have yandere and delusional characteristics, and I like to sum up the reason why as my intense fear and guilt to be in an actual irl relationship to which I use fanfics to create characters that would love the reader and be with her against her consent.
Which story did you struggle to complete? The one that made you drag your feet to finish.
I consider my story, 'Hunger' to be the most struggling to write. I initially wrote that just to let out my sexual frustrations, but a lot of feedback has been about the plot... That I've barely made outside of a few important events. With that, there's been some pressure to speed up the pacing. Also, fun fact: 'Hunger' was originally supposed to be an Overwatch fanfic.
Do you have a mutual who will hold your hand and support you when you’re doubting yourself? Do you have one who will truthfully and honestly help you grow as a writer?
@americasass81 has been there for me a lot when I've been at my worst doubting myself, and the sweetest part about it was that she reached out to me on her own accord usually after I post a rant. She is incredible and literally carrying this community on her back--we don't deserve her.
As for who helped me grow as a writer, I definitely confided with @darkdrabblings back when I first got into Overwatch fanfiction. We would throw each other headcanon ideas and all that, and she really did support me a lot. Since then, I don't really have a lot of conversations about my writing with other people.
Do you have a story that contains personal or important details from an experience that is your own?
My first story that I wrote on FFN, 'Nothing More, Nothing Less', was written when I was severely depressed, with a female protagonist that reflected me and my life. 'A Thousand Suns' is another one in which the protagonist's background would be similar to my own.
