#also they did actually use pyrotechnics
Note
Hi hello! I’m not the person who originally submitted the ask for the Genshin/Honkai girls with a G Gundam-style chuuni S/O, but I’ll be fully honest that one hit my brainrot something good and fierce. So what about Xinyan, Dehya, Navia, Himeko, March 7th, and Stelle with the G Gundam Chuuni S/O?
Tumblr media
(Genshin Impact/Honkai: Star Rail)
Xinyan, Dehya, Navia, Himeko, March 7th, Stelle, and Natasha with a very dramatic S/O
Part 1 here!
@jjovin3221, here is your part two, courtesy of others!
Also, March 7th's part has my absolute favorite image I've ever made for this blog.
Tumblr media
Xinyan absolutely loves S/O's over the top attitude!
Not to mention they had some killer pyrotechnics! Both their visions may be Pyro, but her lover's put any flame to shame.
The explosion they'd create alongside the absolute raw energy they exuded from their shouts was enough to motivate her and her fans.
Plus they had an amazing stage name already: The King/Queen of Hearts!
But that being said, she finds them a little too intense at times. All they cared about was fighting, but she did appreciate they made time for her concerts despite that fact.
...Wait, their whole warrior schtick isn't just a stage Persona, was it?
==
Xinyan watched as S/O effortlessly blew through a horde of bandits with blinding kicks and punches.
She could only watch in silent awe while they rapidly leapt from one enemy to another, everyone powerless to stop their rampage.
With one final kick, S/O sent the last bandit tumbling down a hill, while they crossed their arms dramatically, headband blowing in the wind.
One of the ones knocked to the floor by their punch tried to crawl away, catching S/O's and Xinyan's attention.
(Bandit) "W-What are you?!"
(S/O) "You look upon a student of the Undefeated of the East!"
Grabbing their collar, they looked them in the eyes as they reached for something in their pocket.
(Xinyan) "...Uh, is that a picture?-"
(S/O) "Have you seen this man?"
(Bandit) "Wha...D-DID YOU ATTACK US JUST TO ASK THAT QUESTION?!-"
(S/O) "Answer me!"
(Bandit) "ACK! N-NO! NEVER SEEN HIM!"
S/O tossed the bandit behind him like they were made of paper, walking back to Xinyan.
(Xinyan) "...S/O, did you actually want to ask 'em a darn question this entire time?!"
(S/O) "I did. Does that bother you?"
Xinyan was stunned, blinking twice to make sure she was processing S/O's actions correctly.
(Xinyan) "...A-A little, yeah! Why the heck did we beat the tar outta 'em just for a single thing?!"
(S/O) "Hm. They started it. Let's get back to Liyue, your concert will start soon."
(Xinyan) "R-Right..." Man, they sure do got a screw loose...
Tumblr media
Dehya had met many mercenaries that had something wrong with them throughout her career.
But her S/O took the crown for the biggest psycho she's ever met.
When she first met them, she knew they had a dangerous air about them.
What she didn't expect is for them to be able to blow every single thing they came across into smithereens with just their bare hands.
Sure, a Vision allows you to pull some crazy stunts, but how does it ignite your entire fist into a golden flaming sun, which allows you to blow up things as if they were pyro slimes?!
She fell for them because of the kindness they could display, and how reliable they were, but that was when they weren't going off the deep end.
And these days, that was getting increasingly rarer.
==
Dehya marched into the ruins with S/O, both of them approaching a group of eremites who were holding a girl hostage.
(Dehya) "There's a lot of them in there. What's our plan?"
(S/O) "Flank around the sides. I'll go in the front and save the girl."
Before she could formulate another plan, S/O walked ahead of her.
(Dehya) "Be careful..."
She then watched as the Eremites immediately shot at S/O with arrows from their flanks.
S/O suddenly crouched down with arrows inside of them, which made Dehya's heart stop.
The Eremite's laughter quickly halted when S/O stood back up, arrows somehow caught between every single one of their fingers, completely unscathed.
(Dehya) "...What?"
S/O suddenly threw every single arrow back at them, each of them seemingly lethal as they instantly dropped dead, despite the fact they went through non-fatal areas of their bodies.
(S/O) "COWARD! IF YOU WANT TO FIGHT ME, SHOW YOUR FACE AND I'LL CHALLENGE YOU TO A DUEL!"
(Dehya) sigh "I'm not even going to ask..."
Tumblr media
Navia thought S/O was part of a theatre group from Inazuma, given how over the top they were.
She was horribly wrong, and she didn't know if that was a good thing.
But it certainly made life much more interesting!...In a fiery explosion and screaming kind of way.
But Navia didn't really think S/O any less for it. She loved every bit of them!
...Even the more psychotic bits that would make everyone flee in terror.
==
Navia's bodyguards watched nervously as Navia loaded her umbrella gun.
(Bodyguard) "U-Uh, I know S/O's reflexes are good but-"
(Bodyguard 2) "Even with non-lethal ammunition, this is REALLY dangerous!"
S/O scoffed as their arms were crossed.
(S/O) "Do you really think bullets can even touch me?"
(Navia) "They're right darling, this is a spreadshot weapon at point blank-"
(S/O) "Then the King of Hearts will show you all! HIT ME, NAVIA!"
(Navia) "A-Alright...Three, two, one!-"
(S/O) "SHINING, FINGER!"
BANG!
In what seemed like an instant, S/O's hand began glowing a bright golden light as it extended out, melting all the bullets she shot upon contact, not even a single one getting through.
Navia and her bodyguards were beside themselves, unsure of what they witnessed even happened.
(Navia) "HUH?! B-BUT-"
(Bodyguard) "HOW DOES THAT EVEN WORK?!"
(S/O) "Hmph! If you think what I can do is impressive, then you should see my Master."
(Navia) "S/O, PLEASE let me meet him! I want to ask him how he can just defy the laws of physics!-"
Tumblr media
Himeko at first was convinced S/O was just some kind of actor hired to be a live-action representation of Welt's creations.
But no, they were just inside a Mecha-like suit they had created, and could do martial arts perfectly.
...A little too perfect, actually.
Himeko wants to research how the suit works, but she's pretty sure S/O would drive their fist into her stomach and make her explode if she attempted.
Just like every enemy they've come across.
But other than that? She's not exactly too bothered by their insane behavior.
In her travels, she's honestly seen worse. At least S/O uses their power for good, and heck, they even liked her coffee!
That was good enough for her!
==
Himeko and S/O were strolling through the streets before they were approached by a hooded man, pulling out a knife.
She was mildly concerned by the thug, mostly for them more than anything. After all, S/O was outside their suit.
If they called it down, there would be hell to pay.
(Thug) "Your lady looks rich, hand over all the credits you got, or I'll gut you both."
(Himeko) "Is that right? Well, if I were you, I'd put the knife away."
(Thug) "Wha-Are you stupid?! HAND IT TO ME!"
(Himeko) "Oh, we'll give you a hand, alright. S/O?"
S/O raised their fist into the air.
(S/O) "COME OOUUUUUUUUT! GUNDAAAAAAAAM!"
S/O snapped, and the ground behind them suddenly blew open, shooting debris into the air.
S/O's clothes suddenly changed into a black skin-tight suit of spandex, landing and robotic parts suddenly materializing around them.
The thug was completely shocked by what he was witnessing, while Himeko watched with mild amusement.
(S/O) "HYYYAAAAGH! HYAH! HYAH!-"
S/O was now encased inside their mech, quickly throwing punches and kicks as their machine stabilized and checked if their movements synced up.
Himeko had a blank expression, silently thinking to herself:
(Himeko) S/O has done that every single time they've transformed, and no ones' actually bothered to stop them...
(S/O) "HERE I GO!"
With their warm-up out the way, S/O's machine crossed their arms as it stared directly at the thug, eyes flashing green.
(S/O) "This hand of mine glows with AN AWESOME POWER!"
Himeko tried to contain her giggle with one hand covering her mouth as the thug began blubbering in absolute fear as S/O's hand lit up the entire alley.
(Himeko) "That's so cheesy-"
(S/O) "IT'S LOUD ROAR TELLS ME TO DEFEAT YOU!"
They immediately grabbed the thug's head as they squirmed, trying their best to make them let go.
(S/O) "SHINING FIIIIIIIIII-"
(Himeko) "Okay dear, you don't actually need to blow him up. I think he gets it."
The head slowly turned to Himeko before a sigh came through the machine, anticlimactically dropping the thug onto the ground.
(S/O) "You heard the lady. Get out of here before she hands you back to me."
(Thug) "AAAAAAAAGH, YOU FREAKS!"
They sprinted away, almost tripping themselves several times in the process.
(Himeko) "...You have got to tell me how that suit of your works someday. Where does it even come from?-"
(S/O) "It comes when I need it."
(Himeko) "...That didn't answer-"
(S/O) "And I'm not going to."
Tumblr media
March loved the walking mechanical natural disaster that was S/O.
Did they even make remotely any kind of sense?
Aeons no, but what in this universe really made sense when you think about it?
March takes pictures of S/O all the time inside their suit, pulling off awesome attacks and hanging it on her wall. It made for some really cool wallpaper!
She also likes to steal their headband whenever they were outside their mech, as rare as it was.
March wears their headband and starts mimicking their voice, dramatically shouting in a low voice. It doesn't take her long to break character and begin laughing.
But nothing could top the moment their Master visited the Astral Express.
Upon meeting their disciple once again, the two immediately broke into a strange dance. One that March had to try. If she couldn't make something explode with her hands, then it was onto the next best thing!
==
Dan Heng, March, and S/O watched as S/O's master departed on a mechanical horse, standing perfectly upright on it, while inside their own mech suit.
(Dan Heng) "...That would certainly explain why S/O is the way they are."
(S/O) "Amazing, isn't he?"
(March 7th) "...Hey, S/O? Remember that thing you did with your Master? Do you think we can try it too?"
S/O's machine tilted its head as they responded to March.
(S/O) "Huh? Oh, the dance?...Sure, why not!"
(Dan Heng) "Uh, I think I'd rather pass-"
(S/O) "Don't be such a spoilsport! Come on: Undefeated, School of the east!"
S/O raised their fist to the middle, with March 7th quickly chiming in and doing the same.
(March 7th) "Winds of the King!"
Dan Heng simply sighed, knowing March or S/O wouldn't take no for an answer.
Finally relenting, he raised his own fist.
(Dan Heng) "Zenshin!-"
S/O retracted their fist and struck a pose, as if they were ready to begin fighting.
(S/O) "KEIRETSU!"
March leaped into the air and landed dramatically, pointing upwards into the air.
(March 7th) "TEMPA KYORAN!"
Dan Heng grabbed S/O's metallic fist as they traded places, extending their arms and connecting their fists.
(Dan Heng) "Look!-"
(S/O) "THE EAST!-"
March went to the middle, the three of them shouting in unison:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stelle kept a straight face through all of S/O's shenanigans.
Watching them pose dramatically, witnessing their machine erupt from the ground before S/O magical girl transformed into it, dodging the explosions their fists created, all of it.
Stelle was more confused than anything.
Rules were made to be broken, but the rules of how gravity, physics, and heat worked too?
That was taking it a little too far.
She wants to know how they do it, but some questions were probably left unanswered.
==
S/O's mech crossed its arms, dramatically posing as it turned to Stelle.
A small army of malfunctioning robots approached them, threatening to attack the camp they were defending.
(S/O) "Hmph, there's too many to take them on individually."
She turned to him, eyes finally widening in surprise.
(Stelle) "Wait, you don't mean?-"
(S/O) "We have no choice! Launch me, just like how I taught you!"
(Stelle) "You can't just defy the laws of physics whenever you want-"
(S/O) "We have no time to argue, JUST DO IT!"
Stelle had performed some crazy plans in her time aboard the Astral Express, but-
Stelle took a deep breath and mimicked the crane stance, her baseball bat still in hand.
(Stelle) "CHOKYO!"
S/O went down on one knee, extending their fists.
(S/O) "HAOH!"
The two struck a dramatic pose in unison, exactly as how S/O's master had taught them.
(Both) "DEN'EIDAN!"
(S/O) "STELLE, FIRE!"
Stelle took a deep breath before swinging with all her might, with S/O suddenly leaping into the air, using her bat as a jumping point.
S/O roared out in fury, their mech spinning rapidly and turning into a tornado of red, blue, and yellow, blitzing a line through the robots, creating a single line of destruction.
Finally, S/O's mech flew up into the air, struck another pose with their feet and fists extended to one direction as if they were doing a flying kick.
(S/O) "ERUPT!"
On command, the entire army detonated at once, creating a beautiful ball of destruction as the dust cloud soared into the air, S/O slowly floating down next to Stelle.
(S/O) "HAHA! BEHOLD THE POWER OF THE SCHOOL OF MASTER ASIA!"
Stelle looked blankly at S/O, then back to the army they had destroyed together.
(Stelle) "...It's probably best I stop asking questions, isn't it?"
(S/O) "Yes!"
Tumblr media
Oh Aeons above, S/O was a horrible influence on the kids.
Natasha does not have the mental capacity to deal with their insanity they brought with their mech onto the planet.
Hook and the others thought that S/O and their mech was the coolest thing they had ever seen.
The flashy red, blue, yellow, and white of their suit looked like an action figure.
And their warrior attitude definitely did not help things.
S/O had already made themselves notorious in the fighting club too, adding even more fuel to the fire.
She has to constantly tell the kids to not mimic her S/O.
Natasha loved them, but sometimes she wanted to slam her head against their mech in frustration.
They were great with kids, but seem to grasp no concept on impressionable children actually were.
===
Natasha treated the last of the patient's wounds, waving goodbye to them as they left.
She leaned back into her chair, taking a deep breath and finally relaxing.
Natasha opened one eye and saw that S/O's mech was standing completely still, clearly unmanned.
(Natasha) "...Strange, where is-"
She heard the kids all grunting in unison outside the window.
(Natasha) "...Oh no."
She leapt off her chair at a speed that startled some of the people inside.
Opening the door, she found Seele already approaching the clinic.
(Seele) "Nat, the kids!-"
(Natasha) "I know!"
She rushed past Seele, who quickly joined her as they rushed towards an open part of the courtyard.
S/O was standing in front of a large group of children, all mimicking their actions.
(S/O) "Put your heart into every swing! Your fists are the only way to convey how you feel!"
(Hook) "Yes, teacher!"
(Child) "S/O, do you think your Master could teach us too?!"
(S/O) "Hah! My Master would appreciate your enthusiasm, but-"
(Natasha) "S/O!"
S/O froze in fear, as did the rest of the children as every single one of them rushed to hide behind S/O.
Natasha sighed, looking at the kids, then back to her lover.
(Natasha) "What in the world are you doing?"
(S/O) "...Exercising-"
(Seele) "Really? Is that what you call it?"
(Hook) "S-S/O said they would show us the Erupting Burning-"
(Natasha) "Absolutely not! S/O, the clinic, NOW."
Seele took the kids behind her as Natasha dragged S/O out of sight.
(Child) "...Will they be alright?"
(Seele) "I don't think they will be, no."
...
(S/O) "Nat-"
(Natasha) "Do not Nat me! What are you thinking, teaching the kids such a violent move!?"
(S/O) "W-Well, I can't exactly say no to them-"
(Natasha) "Do I know it, S/O, but I don't need parents telling me their kids were trying to blow up something with their bare hands!"
(S/O) "...But I do it with the-"
(Natasha) "Don't you dare finish that sentence! If I find you trying to teach the kids your crazy moves again, I will make you explode next."
The Mech's head moved and stared at Natasha.
(Natasha) "AND YOU'LL BE FIRST IF YOU LET THE KIDS GET ANYWHERE NEAR YOU."
Both the mech and S/O stepped back in fear.
Honestly, S/O couldn't decide whether their master or Natasha was scarier.
...Probably Natasha.

I need anyone who genuinely dislikes Usopp to take a long look in the mirror because yeah, he can be a bit annoying at times but he is honestly a good and interesting character!!
He is just as loyal as any other member of the crew and fights the strongest when he’s fighting on someone else’s behalf. (See: him fighting for Sanji in Skypeia, fighting for Robin at Eneis Lobby, fighting for Luffy in Dressrosa, fighting for Tama and Nami in Wano.) He is a major player in so many of the battles in the series that it baffles me that people can think of him as an unimportant member of the crew.
And Usopp is a fucking genius??? Hello???? He’s able to make weapons powerful enough to create storms and tornadoes. He is canonically a jack-of-all trades that supports the crew in their daily lives and in battle. The Going Merry only lasted as long as she did because Usopp was around to care for her. He was the only one to see her Klabauterman!! Usopp is not only creative and fun but is able to bring those creations to life, whether it be his drawings or his gadgets, and I think that’s so beautiful. I miss pre-TS because of all his inventions we got to see.
Let’s not forget that Usopp is so, so kind!! He made friends with the kids in his village and told stories to Kaya to help her feel better when she was ill. He fought to protect her and Syrup Village from Kuro. Personally, I will never get over filler ep on Fireworks Island (ep. 134) where he cheered up Kodoma and encouraged her to continue her pyrotechnics, assuring that her parents were proud of her. Knowing he also lost his parents at a young age makes the scene hit that much harder. (And again, he showed his genius by figuring out a way to launch the firework that killed Kodoma’s parents!!) It may not be canon to the manga but but I think that episode is super accurate to his character.
What I think makes him the most interesting is that we see his flaws and mistakes more than any of the other Straw Hats. We see his insecurities in Water 7 and his fear in Dressrosa. But we also see him growing and learning and being encouraged by his crewmates. Aside from Robin, I think Usopp has changed and grown the most out of the Straw Hats. With his goal to become a brave warrior of the sea he has so much potential for even more growth!!
Like I said earlier, some people think Usopp is annoying which he can be sometimes, but that’s also because he’s literally comic relief. And he does so well at it bc he’s actually so damn funny?? He makes me laugh out loud all the time. One Piece wouldn’t be even half as funny without Usopp.
I also appreciate that as an individual he has so many moments with the other Straw Hats. There are a lot of relationships that don’t get explored as much as we’d like, but I think we get to see Usopp’s friendships with the crew pretty often. He fights for Luffy, plays around with Chopper, teases Zoro, is teased by Robin, gossips with Nami, hangs around Sanji, and his whole relationship with Franky has so many layers to it.
Aaahh, I have so many hopes for Usopp in the series that I pray will be fulfilled!! I want him to have a badass arc in Elbaf full of character growth. I want to see him develop and continue to use his Haki (which he gained when trying to save Luffy are you KIDDING me). I want his reunion with Yasopp to be emotional and bittersweet. If he could personally beat Yasopp in a fight I would ascend to the heavens.
Usopp is such an important, complex, and interesting character and I absolutely hate to see him reduced to being a gag character or the weakest member of the Straw Hats. He may not be a monster but he is amazing and I love him.
TLDR; if you disrespect Usopp I wish you a very Die.

Murph: "You in a salsa hat."
Siobhan: "I'm gonna cast Nondetection on Kristen so nobody can tell that it's not coming from her."
Zac: "I cast Jump on..." *laughs*

Ally: "Okay."
Emily: "I'm gonna cast Fear because it creates an image and I'm just gonna create an image of a huge nefarious spiderweb."
Ally: *spiderweb-shooter noise*
Brennan: "So what everyone sees is Kristen shoots spiderweb that also produces a elephant-sized spider that begins to run amuck on the campus as Kristen ejects from a Jump spell straight over the school into another field."
The awesome caption team: (all laughing)
Lou: "Through fireworks."
Brennan: "Through fireworks."
Lou: "Through fireworks."
Brennan: "Everyone starts screaming."
Ally: "Passed the test to gimme extra spells!"
The Bad Kids chanting: "Kristen! Kristen! Kristen! Kristen!"
Adaine: "Wow, I'm voting for her for sure."
Riz: "You've seen the shrimp jump, and now have you seen the salsa jump?"
Brennan: *laughing*
Adaine: "I'm so wet, it's burning my face."
Brennan: "Food trucks peel out from the ****ing giant spider."
Gorgug: "Get outta here, losers."
The awesome caption team: (all laughing)
Brennan: "And with that, what better not to engage in our very first downtime."
Gorgug: "Phew!" *wipes forehead*
Riz: *laughs*
Fabian: "We gotta get it together." *laughs*
Kristen: "Yeah, I'm so sorry."
Riz: "Kipperlilly knows that your other god died but didn't know that this one just died."
Kristen: "*** **** it!"
Fig: "Well, I actually liked that you played it honest, though. 'Cause she's telling us lies and you just told the truth."
Kristen: "That's true, but-"
Fig: "Well, until you didn't."
Kristen: "Until I lied big time. But you guys really covered it up. Okay?"
Fabian: "Passed the test."
Gorgug: "Hey, do we need to lock it in?"
Fabian: "Yeah, we lock it in."
Kristen: *takes off her hat* "You guys, I'm really sorry."
Riz: "Let's all never talk to Kipperlilly ever again."
Fabian: "Throw this hat away."
Ally: "Can I do an insight check on when I confronted her about the teacher finding her and her not finding the teacher?"
Brennan: "Yeah. Yeah."
Ally: "Did she give me any- Like, did I ice through one little barrier?"
Brennan: "Give me an insight check."
Ally: "Okay."
Ally gets a 14 on the insight check.
Brennan: "Once again, she didn't say anything in response to it, which feels like a confirmation of it to you, but you didn't see it rattle her. You didn't see anything... Like, in other words, on a 14 you can't get any insight into it. But fundamentally, I think maybe Kristen would feel on some level that if you were to say, 'Hey, that was a ******** technicality,' she'd almost be more proud. Do you know what I mean? Like, literally if someone were like, 'Hey, the spirit of that rule is you're supposed to find the Rogue teacher, not have the Rogue teacher find you. She would be like, 'A success against the spirit of the rule is actually more enticing to me.'"
Ally: "She thinks she gamed it and that's actually more impressive."
Brennan: "Yes, precisely."
Ally: "Okay, got it. *** ******."
Siobhan: "I wonder if the Rogue teacher found her to say, 'Hey, grinding is not the way to do this and you actually have to study and you're in trouble.'"
Ally: "Or she like put herself in danger and that's why that person died. The Rogue teacher had to step in and-"
Siobhan: "Oh, 💩."
Ally: "-like try to save someone-"
Siobhan: "Yeah, either way, she sucks."
Ally: "Yeah."

Warnings; none :) might be spoilers later but not in this part!!
Part 1 // Part 2 // Part 3 // Part 4
Word Count: 1150
Author notes: this takes place the year before wednesday arrives, i've only written the first part and have no idea on the direction just yet so any ideas are welcome in messages!! This is also the first fic i have ever actually posted - let me know what you think :D
______________________________________________________________
Tumblr media
The rain had just started, you could see specs across your window as it slowly covered the entire pane, the moonlight shone through, creating patterns of light throughout your room, you were sitting at your desk, doodling across your homework. Your favourite class was definitely botanical science with Miss Thornhill, but at the end of the day homework was still homework.
You flicked your pen back and forth, glancing around your room, looking for any distraction. Unfortunately your roommate had to leave the academy earlier in the semester, leaving you alone. You usually loved having the room to yourself, but some nights it really did feel lonely, you could hear every creak from the footsteps above, laughs from the corridor and rooms next door, it was maddening.
You decided enough was enough, you were bored and needed to do something stimulating. Thankfully, your species allowed you to keep entertained fairly easily - you were a poltergeist.
You died at a young age, but your bloodline had worked closely with witches, a spell allowed your parents to bring you back to life, but not quite as they imagined.
Your powers allowed you to do things many couldn't, you could pass through things such as walls, levitate, turn invisible (which you called ‘cloaking’), and you had a certain way with pyrotechnics. Your parents believed when you were brought back that you changed, your mood, attitude, whole personality even, mischief (which poltergeists are known for) seemed to overtake your new life. It was difficult at times - even the outcasts viewed you as weird. An outcast in a school of outcasts. You had a handful of friends here and there, but no one made you feel really safe and included.
You left your homework and pushed away from your desk. Nevermore had a curfew of students in their dorms by 10pm on weekdays, but it wasn't rare for students to break this rule. You cloaked yourself and passed through your door, your nails dragged across each door of Ophelia Hall as you left the building. You loved that you could torment people and they would never know it was you.
You had already explored most of the academy, so this time you decided to explore the woods. You followed a stream leading you deep into the woods, listening to the sound of flowing water, the further you went into the woods the creepier it got. The once light drizzle was now getting significantly heavier, owls were hooting, while the wind whistled and then suddenly a snap. A branch. Something or someone was behind you. You turned quickly but to your surprise, no one was there. As you turned you noticed a shed through a clearing, there was a dimly lit light glowing from inside. You walked towards, curious as to what could be going on.
You appeared outside the shed, you noticed an open padlock and chain hung around one of the door handles. You could hear loud music playing inside. Someone was definitely in there. You made sure your cloak was on and passed through the door, once inside you noticed drawings, paintings, artwork dotted everywhere, the walls were plastered, each desk had a sketchbook and some sort of material to be used, even the floor was littered with crumpled up paper and pencil shavings.
You looked towards the end of the shed, where the light was focused, you could see someone sitting on a stool, encased in their drawing, they were oblivious to you in the shed, being invisible did help. You looked around slowly at the artwork, you decided to flip through one of the sketchbooks closest to you, gently moving the pages so as to not alert the individual with you. One of the drawings caught your interest, an ink drawing of a statue, not just any statue, the Edger Allen Poe statue, you knew where this one on campus, the interesting thing about the drawing was that in the background there was an array of books, almost like a library behind the statue, but you knew this wasn't the case, you had scoured most the academy.
You decided to tear the page out, forgetting you weren't alone. The individual spoke out. “Who's there?”, they asked. You dropped the page and turned, you could now see the individual's face, it was Xavier. You and Xavier had a few classes together, mutual friends, but not much of a conversation ever existed between the two of you.
“I said who’s there?” Xavier asked aloud again.
You remembered you were still cloaked, you decided it would be more fun to mess with him instead of reveal yourself. You walk towards him, making your footsteps heavy so they bang on the floor with each step, you drag your hands across the desks, pulling drawings across the floor, you do your best ghost impression and let out a long ghostly moan, you even let out a few giggles on the way. Xavier looks scared, shocked, confused. You move closer to him, levitating slightly so you are face to face, all within a moment you uncloak yourself and let out the smallest “boo”, Xavier shouts and falls back into the easel behind him.
You drop to the group and apologise, all while laughing so much it hurts.
“Not cool, Y/N”, “What are you even doing here?” Xavier asks.
You offer out your hand to help him up, Xavier rolls his eyes and takes your hand.
“Maybe I should ask you the same question, you know it's past your curfew Xavier.” You say back to him. Xavier scoffed.
“Tell me then, what even are you?” he asked.
“What am I? Can you not guess, I think that would be much more fun.” you replied.
“You're a pain in the ass for one thing.”
You looked up at Xavier, his eyes seemed glossy, like he had been crying, not that you would say a word to him about it. You glanced at the drawing behind him, walking towards it, you brushed your hand across the canvas, it was a vase of dead flowers. How morbid you thought. Xavier pulled his hand over the drawing, bringing one of the dead flowers out of the canvas, he gave it to you.
“I'm a poltergeist by the way”, you said trying to diffuse the situation, not many people responded well when you told them, which is why it was a secret you usually kept to yourself.
“That's cool,” Xavier responded.
You and Xavier didn't need to say much to each other, he invited you to hang out in his art shed, which you happily accepted given your love for drawing. You spent the evening sharing glances, drawing, and giggling. For some reason you felt like you could trust Xavier, he was open and honest which was rare for students here. Everyone always seemed to have some sort of mystery about them.

HAZBIN TRAILER OBSERVATIONS!!
Tumblr media
Okay, so this shot tells us a lot about the geography of The Pride Ring. We see that the Hotel’s wayy out, really sending the message that the sheer concepts of hope, redemption, and everything it stands for is outcasted and rejected by the rest of the city. The Clock Tower is in the heart of the city, showing how it is the main cog in the machine. The Porn Studios building on the left, poooossibly the Cannibal Colony or Rosie’s Emporium on the lower right. There’s also a lovely balanced distinction of modernity shown in the absence or presence of neon lights dotting the buildings throughout various districts. This shows that the Sinners prefer to live in conditions similar to those of when they were alive. Heaven, as well as a weird red moon are also visible.
Tumblr media
This looks like Cherri’s attacking the Hotel with one Hell of a pyrotechnic display (Seriously, how does one attain such a massive singular smoke bomb??) Possibly because she is aware that Sir Pentious is taking sanctuary there. Luckily Alastor’s Radio Tower looks like it came through unscathed.
Tumblr media
Looks like Alastor and Charlie are taking a stroll in the same park in the Prequel comic.
Tumblr media
I love how everyone looks so fake and nervous and then Razzle and Dazzle, Charlie’s lil’ protectors/assistants/plushies are just looking so pure and adorable. Actually zoom in on their faces, do it. Also, as soon as you see Husks face, the frame can officially get worse. Also there’s a bag of drugs or.. something on the table, I’m guessing PCP knowing Angel. It bears resemblance to the bag in the pilot.
Tumblr media
It’s also here, on the right side of Lucifer. So we now know some sort of celebration was at the Hotel, and Lucifer visited. Decorations are still up.
Tumblr media
Travis. What the Hell’s he doin’ there?? Love to see him back for a gag. Also, someone try and read that script. There’s a memo or mail box on the side that is overflowing. This building looks similar to a setting in R2NinjaTurtle’s Valentino Board Animatic. Same with Vox’s Tv Screen Lair Thingy.
Tumblr media
Nice shot from the ‘Happy Day in Hell’ Song number of the Cannibal town with a lovely late 1800s-early 1900s theme. Bring back this fashion, or like a cool, modern-inspired version. Please. Also, there’s a lil’ Chimney Sweep who looks like this very Dick Van Dyke-inspired O.C. I drew a while ago (maybe it is him, you decide).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alastor took the trouble of talking to this nice overlord chap while filming this nice man who is in the process of committing unspontaneous combustion.
Tumblr media
This shrunken voodoo head is here, while Alastor and a nice lady with a dead fox scarf and an oversized version of Voldemort’s wand repurposed as a cane are in the background.
Tumblr media
Just appreciation for how perfectly this frame captures their personalities.
Charlie: You’re doing awesome, my script is great, isn’t it? I’m so happy at this moment.
Vaggie: I’m too tired for this crud.
Angel: I’ve read some real interesting scripts in my time but none as terrible as this one. Also someone get me outta this coat, it’s filthy an’ it reeks of the 40’s.
Niffty: *gremlin* Seriously, stop looking at him like that girl.
Husk: How the f*** did I end up here?? It’ll all be over soon.
Alastor. How to sit like a sir while plotting unavoidable carnage.
Pentious: Lollypop, lollypop oohh lolly lollypop, lolly pop, lolly pop- WHERE DID HIS HAT EYE GO?? WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT IT?? IS IT LIKE AN EXTENSION OF HIMSELF, LIKE HOW ALASTOR CAN MAKE HIS MICROPHONE DISAPPEAR UP HIS SLEEVE??
Tumblr media
Nothing much about this one, it’s just one of my favourite frames in the trailer. I absolutely love how expressively and awesomely animated Alastor is here. Really captures his theatrical tone. And we get a snippet of Rosie’s voice!! Also the song is FIREE. It will hit so hard when it comes out and further context is given.

I did this again!! I drew Eight in a bunch of TMNT styles a little while ago and Eight and Okami's stories are very closely connected so I've had her story kind of sitting in my head for weeks and I couldn't resist any longer!
I posted this template here and the version with Eight is here!
Lore dump beneath the cut!
Usual Appearance/TMNT-ified (my style)
This is Okami's usual appearance throughout Fallen Renegades! She's a mutant wolf/bat hybrid that was used in a dog fighting ring for several years before she escaped, eventually meeting Eight and stepping up as a parental figure for him. Her story wouldn't change much when TMNT-ified other than the fact that she would inevitably run into the turtles!
1987
I hate how this version looks, I don't know what's happening here. Okami would probably be a minor character in like one episode of the show, probably just some random street thug that gets mutated into a wolf with bat wings because of something Krang did to try and make SUPER MUTANTS or something. Idk lol
2003
In 2003, Okami would probably be a reoccurring character. She'd appear some time in season one, probably as an antagonist for the turtles. She was created by some shady government agency as a mutant attack dog and used for years as a weapon, but managed to escape just a short time before meeting the turtles. At first she attacks them, as she's become used to essentially attacking anything that moves for most of her existence, but after she and the turtles have to work together to take down some mutual threat they establish an unsteady alliance. Over time the government agency that created her (maybe Bishop?) pops back up occasionally, and once and a while Okami is driven back to her original state and fights against the turtles. She is usually a helpful ally for them though. Like I mentioned in Eight's version he and Okami would be introduced separately in this version of the show and make their own independent appearances throughout season one, but then they would meet at some point in season two and all of their appearances after would be together!
Bayverse
Like last time I don't have a ton of lore for the Bayverse version of these characters. They were probably created together by Baxter Stockman and then Okami broke both her and Eight out and they kind of chill around the city until they help the turtles with something. I think this is actually my favorite drawing out of this set I'm kind of mad I don't have more story for it.
2012
2012 Okami was mutated by the Kraang in an experiment to add useful secondary mutations to their creations. Eight was another part of this experiment, and he and Okami ended up in neighboring containment cells. Okami's experiments focused more on the physical aspects of mutation while Eight's focused more on the internal, and when his pyrotechnic abilities kicked in it was extremely destructive. Okami was able to use the destruction to break them both out, and they were able to catch a portal to Earth. The two of them spend most of their time in the show in Kraang-related conflicts, often aiding the turtles when needed because Eight made friends with Mikey.
Rise
In Rise, Hamato Tala is a world-renowned professional boxer who fights under the name "Okami". She was a part of the Hamato clan and is a cousin to Hamato Yoshi, but her family was a bit more distant and disconnected from the usual Hamato duty since her father had also tried to defect from the clan. Like Yoshi she ended up turning her back on most tradition to seek fame and glory, though she pursued hers in the boxing ring. She found her fame, but she also found loneliness... until this little alley cat began following her around after her New York matches. She found the scrappy little guy endearing and somewhat took care of him, until one night an oozesquito bit her. She was mutated into a timber wolf/vampire bat hybrid, and (after eating the oozesquito) Eight became more humanoid and also had some of Okami's DNA. Okami basically said "well I guess this child is my responsibility now" and illegally adopted him, though the legality of the situation doesn't really matter because when she tries to go back to her human life it turns out no one recognizes her and if she tries to explain herself most people freak out. So she stops wrestling in the pro rings and instead starts taking jobs at smaller rings that are a whole lot less legal but at least make her money... and let her use her new, animalistic strength. Then of course eventually she and her adopted son run into the turtles and she finds out that, in gaining some of her DNA, Eight now has Hamato ninpo... in a very, very unstable way. Basically now this kid that she picked up on the street hears ghosts and explodes occasionally and this is something Okami is just cursed to deal with now.
Rise Movie (the future version that's not super clear on the template)
Okami dies a year or two after the Krang take over, and with her final breath she transfers the rest of her ninpo over to Eight. This stabilizes Eight's abilities and maybe it would mean that Okami doesn't get a ghost form but I don't really care, I wanted to draw her human form and also let me have some happiness imagining Four (the bas future version of Eight) talking to his ghost mom. Anyway I made a comic about this timeline and Eight's name changing to Four and it shows Okami's death lol
Mutant Mayhem
Okami was raised in a dog fighting ring before she was mutated. In fact, TCRI bought her out of the ring in order to have more test subjects as they were working to recreate Baxter Stockman's mutagen. They ran tests on her right alongside a certain burmese kitten, and for a wile both animals were deemed as failures. Of course, inevitably Eight gained his fire abilities. It was in the midst of the lab fire that Eight sparked that more of TCRI's mutagen prototypes were spilt, and the heat of Eight's flames made them a bit more effective. Okami grabbed him and dragged him out of the lab, and in the process both animals got a second dousing of mutagen that was much more effective than the first. After this Okami ended up raising Eight and took on a very similar mindset to both Splinter and Superfly; everyone is evil, stay safe and hidden. Okami is extremely protective in this version and genuinely believes everyone is out to get them, and she takes on a bit of an antagonistic role until she finally learns to chill out.
Fun fact: Okami was actually originally a TMNT OC long before Fallen Renegades existed, so it was kinda nostalgic designing these <3 she's come a LONG way since I first made her

In 1970s NASA was not allowed to have any SR-71s, yet they received one and they passed it off as YF-12C (with a bogus A-12 tail number)
NASA YF-12C
Taken in 1975, the interesting photos in this post show NASA Blackbirds carrying the so called “coldwall” heat transfer pod on a pylon beneath the forward fuselage.
The Blackbirds portrayed in these photos are usually referred to as YF-12s, but actually one of them was an SR-71: the one on the top is a YF-12 but the one on the bottom is an SR-71.
Tumblr media
CLICK HERE to see The Aviation Geek Club contributor Linda Sheffield’s T-shirt designs! Linda has a personal relationship with the SR-71 because her father Butch Sheffield flew the Blackbird from test flight in 1965 until 1973. Butch’s Granddaughter’s Lisa Burroughs and Susan Miller are graphic designers. They designed most of the merchandise that is for sale on Threadless. A percentage of the profits go to Flight Test Museum at Edwards Air Force Base. This nonprofit charity is personal to the Sheffield family because they are raising money to house SR-71, #955. This was the first Blackbird that Butch Sheffield flew on Oct. 4, 1965.
Another interesting thing about those pictures is that NASA was not allowed to have an SR-71 but they did and they passed it off as a YF-12!
In fact, the “YF-12C” was a then-secret SR-71A (serial no. 64-17951, the second production SR-71A) given the NASA tail no. 60-6937. The reason for this bit of subterfuge lay in the fact that NASA, while flying the YF-12A interceptor version of the aircraft, was not allowed to possess the strategic reconnaissance version for some time.
In 1970s NASA was not allowed to have any SR-71s, yet they received one and they passed it off as YF-12C (with a bogus A-12 tail number)
Tumblr media
Two NASA Blackbirds: the one on the top is a YF-12, the one on the bottom is the YF-12C/SR-71.
The coldwall project
The bogus tail number actually belonged to a Lockheed A-12 (serial no. 60-6937), but the existence of the A-12 remained classified until 1982. The tail number 06937 was selected because it followed in the sequence of tail numbers assigned to the three existing YF-12A aircraft: 06934, 06935, and 06936. Isn’t that amazing?
The coldwall project, supported by Langley Research Center, consisted of a stainless steel tube equipped with thermocouples and pressure-sensors. A special insulating coating covered the tube, which was chilled with liquid nitrogen. At Mach 3, the insulation could be pyrotechnically blown away from the tube, instantly exposing it to the thermal environment. The experiment caused many inflight difficulties, such as engine unstarts, but eventually researchers got a successful flight.
Noteworthy the Flight Research Center’s involvement with the YF-12A, an interceptor version of the Lockheed A-12, began in 1967. Ames Research Center was interested in using wind tunnel data that had been generated at Ames under extreme secrecy. Also, the Office of Advanced Research and Technology (OART) saw the YF-12A as a means to advance high-speed technology, which would help in designing the Supersonic Transport (SST).
Given that the US Air Force (USAF) needed technical assistance to get the latest reconnaissance version of the A-12 family, the SR-71A, fully operational, the service offered NASA the use of two YF-12A aircraft, 60-6935 and 60-6936.
Eventually, with 146 flights between Dec. 11 1969 and Nov. 7 1979, 935 became the workhorse of the program while the second YF-12A, 936, made 62 flights. Given that this aircraft was lost in a non-fatal crash on Jun. 24 1971, it was replaced by the so-called YF-12C SR-71A 61-7951, modified with YF-12A inlets and engines and a bogus tail number 06937.

The SR-71 differed from the YF-12A in that the YF-12A had a round nose while the SR-71 had its chine carried forward to the nose of the airplane. There were other differences in internal and external configuration, but the two aircraft shared common inlet designs, structural concepts, and subsystems.
The YF-12 was developed in the 1960s as a high-altitude, Mach 3 interceptor to defend against supersonic bombers. Based on the A-12 reconnaissance aircraft, the YF-12A became the forerunner of the highly-sophisticated SR-71 strategic reconnaissance aircraft.
The first of three YF-12s flew in August 1963. In May 1965, the first and third YF-12s set several records, including a speed record of 2,070.101 mph and an altitude record of 80,257.65 feet. For their speed record flight, Col. Robert L. “Fox” Stephens (pilot) and Lt. Col. Daniel Andre (fire control officer) received the 1965 Thompson Trophy.
Though the aircraft performed well, the F-12 interceptor program ended in early 1968. High costs, the ongoing war in Southeast Asia, and a lower priority on air defense of the US all contributed to the cancellation.

One of my favorite parts of following the Fever-era band was watching where they got inspiration, and how they’d build on an idea to make it their own.
Motley Crue did their Carnival of Sins tour shortly before Panic started touring. And P!ATD didn’t even pretend like that didn’t influence them when it came time to plan their first arena headlining tour (which was the Moulin-Rouge-inspired summer tour). Some reviews for P!ATD’s summer tour said that the band pulled off what Motley Crue had been trying to do... and that was before the Nothing Rhymes With Circus tour even existed.
It became a well-known fact that the band had tried to borrow Motley Crue’s circus tent, so the Panic guys had to answer quite a few questions about that (here’s a random example from early October once the band already had their NRWC plans).
The pictures at the top of this post are from Panic’s Nothing Rhymes With Circus tour, which felt like the finale of the Fever era. And then the screenshots below are from Motley Crue’s Carnival of Sins tour:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They had acrobats, fire breathers, and other circus-type stuff:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here’s Tommy Lee’s makeup:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In hindsight, it’s pretty funny to look at all of the things that P!ATD talked about wanting to do (that they weren’t allowed to do)... but Motley Crue had been able to do those things. Brendon and Spencer especially talked about wanting to get fire breathers, trapeze performers, and ANY type of pyrotechnics, get Brendon shot out of a cannon, etc.
It’s hard to tell in this screenshot, but Tommy Lee is flying across the stage on wires (he’s above the “T” in the name):
Tumblr media
he landed on a platform and started playing while a pyrotechnic mess happened:
Tumblr media
Spencer & Brendon would have loved to have this amount of fire...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and after grabbing those screenshots, I think I can spot some moments that answer why some people were claiming in late 2006 that their sister/friend/whatever went to P!ATD’s tour and saw the female performers doing some very specific sexual stuff... and the rest of us were like wtf show did they go to because that’s not what everyone else in the arena talked about seeing. So maybe those people legit thought that the two tours were the same thing. I also think that some journalists subconsciously lumped both tours together because they’d write about Panic having trapeze artists, fire-breathers, “dwarves,” and/or other things that were actually from Motley Crue’s tour.
I could ramble for a long time about how the two tours were very different, but I suppose that’s not the point of this post. Basically, the Panic guys were open about being inspired by some aspects of Motley Crue’s stage show.
The video was also released during the season when Panic was planning their first headlining tour. Here’s an ad from spring 2006:

I just watched the first Doctor Who 60th special. Here are my immediate, unprocessed thoughts:
I am still a little sceptical, but it is starting to feel like a return to form, one can definitely feel the RTD touches coming back. It's a little older, and of this age, but there's a familiarity there.
Anyway spoilers, here are some detailed thoughts:
Things I really liked:
- The opening landing of the Tardis, an alleyway somwhere in London, the spaceship crash very much 2005 era vibes.
-Donna missing all that. Of course she does.
- New tardis interior, it's nice, it's the very cutting edge minimalist feel to it, which is a different flavour from what we've had for a long time, (usually not what I like, but its) refreshing, yet it still very much echoes the past, and the first Davies era - I am reminded of the bit where he or the designer of the 2005 tardis said it was imagined as the top half of a sphere, here it's basically a full sphere.
And they just had to flex how much of it was a real large set, and its pyrotechnic capabilities. Also, it's got RBG.
- I thought the pacing was good. Was a little worried they would dwell on the regeneration mystery a bit at the start but instead they moved straight on, and the doctor started doing stuff
- they did the 13th's era "the aliens you think are the baddies aren't" but they did it well, rather than just ok.
- It was brave of them to include a transgender character - I am not from the UK, but from what I hear, there's controversy and fuss going on over there.
The was a bit near the end was a little clumsy (see next section), but this reminds me of RTD era one's deliberate casual inclusion of gay and bi characters during the 00s, which was a different era. This feels like that.
Many of this feels like RTD finding either unfinished business, or new bits to add to old themes, and it was nice to see. But now, on to the
Did not likes
- I didn't like that they fake outed on Donna's death. Remeber that era of the show where they were afraid to end things? The solution of the metachrisis being having a daughter and splitting is ok. I could sorta see where they were going, and why they did it...
But then, personally, I didn't like that sort of stuff that much in RTD, like the "doctor who space Jesus moment", or Donna magically gaining all that timelord knowledge from seemingly nowhere in the first place.
-the "male presenting timelord wouldn't think of this" bit seemed like a sexist jibe, come on, that's not really that feminist or progressive. Tbh, the whole bit where gender somehow mattered in an unclear way felt kinda clumsy to me. Maybe if it had been better set up earlier, without ruining the casualness if earlier character scences... idk.
-the sonic makes force fields now. They made it clear that it's not that instant or convenient, but will this get overused? Forgotten in future when it could be useful? Ruin future plots? Idk, it's always a risk adding a new power to the sonic.
Undecided:
The only thing I am uncertain about is we never saw Wilfred Mott again, bit he's apparently alive somewhere? The actor died, apparently they chose to make it that the character did not, but we still don't get to see him?
But for the first time in a while, this feels like an episode I would actually rewatch. In fact I'm looking forward to when I watch it again with my mum.
I'm actually feeling a little bit excited for doctor who again. I love that. I missed that.

WHEW runnin on 4 hours of sleep so I’m struggling with being eloquent. I’m gonna do a list to help my brain—thoughts as I remember them
*Stage is set up wonderfully—most stadiums you aren’t gonna have a bad seat
*If you have ever been to MN, you know that MN Nice isn’t what it means other places. Most here come from sullen Nordic stock so talking to strangers requires a shitton of alcohol. Nary a bracelet was exchanged around me, no complimenting of others outfits. The vibes were very much 👀 staring at others and being too scared to interact 😆
*Openers are perfect—MAATHP followed by CS really gets the crowd amped
*Her opening speech was interesting—she made a point of saying how she appreciates that we are so accepting of people in MN which felt like her acknowledging Pride
*She is so adorable and sexy live, very multifaceted —her stage presence is unmatched. She owns the entire stadium and she knows it. Was super powerful to witness
*Over the top long winded Het-splained Betty which was 🙄 because I thought she was transitioning away from that in previous shows—also my BFF turned to me and goes “she just said it’s a fictional album but then literally writes a song about a House she actually owns” and I died 😆 I had never thought of that before
*Which leads into the fact that Rebekah’s hair was in a ponytail flip thing—hairpin theory may be a bust
*The stage, lighting, bracelets light coordination, pyrotechnics are all top tier. Just next level—I don’t wanna ruin it because it was a shock and super cool, but I’ll say there was a point when we were blasted with volcano level heat being in the upper bowl and everyone went wild
*I sobbed the entire time through Marjorie which was expected
*Dear John was the only song I sat for—I absolutely freaked out that she said be nice online kids don’t go after anyone—turned to my friends and was like omfg she’s never addressed that before!! I do think she needs to be more forceful and real though in her language choice. It very much gave Kindergarten teacher talking to her class—which as we see, did nothing given the amount of posts I’m seeing of swifties being like nope don’t care. I wish she could’ve been like “hey stop being assholes online!! I don’t like it! It doesn’t help me!!”
*Daylight was a shock to me—very beautiful acoustically
*Her dancers are so talented, love all the diversity—also size inclusion, I love a bigger dancer that can do a fucking 3 hour set—break the stereotypes!!
*Seeing the screen during Anti-Hero live was heavy. I do not get what Swifties think is happening during that song. I didn’t realize it till last night, but they juxtaposed live Taylor singing on the left of the screen next to giant angry Taylor screaming and begging to be seen. It’s a crazy feeling to see that and be like damn I participate in this dichotomy by even being here
*I took a pee break during tolerate it and the line was nonexistent
*Shes so quick at costume changes!!
*Rainbow stage and rainbow bracelet lights for August which makes no sense unless it makes sense. Why wouldn’t it be a beach seen/waves?
*I don’t get how she sounds so good second night and doesn’t lose her voice. Doesn’t make sense to me—she must not talk day of the concert at all
*Shit I can’t remember which song it was for, but the screen visuals are naked Taylor in a bed. We get a brief glimpse of her holding someone’s hand, and the hand is of a Black person. This is significant IMO for 2 reasons—we are seeing continuity that she’s using anyone *but* a CIS white man as her love interest over and over and over again. Why?? If she’s only ever officially dated CIS white men?? Make it make sense. Also using a Black man as the Love interest in Lover and then having a Black male dancer do the Karlie grab hands stare at each other walk during Style seems like she’s trying to get across this is about the same person IMO
*The show is planned so well that it never fully loses momentum. And the 3 hours goes by way faster than I thought it was going to
*If you go to a show please stay and cheer for her band, dancers, etc. So many people left while she was asking for us to acknowledge them which is rude AF. She’s always known and acknowledged she couldn’t do these shows without 100s of mostly unseen talented people
Overall, I feel very fortunate I got to see her perform Eras. It is a once in a lifetime show. I don’t know what’s next for her, but it feels like she’s stepping away from this version of herself and evolving. I can’t wait to see what’s next 🫶🏼

i went to a concert last weekend!! my very first concert
and i went completely alone! which is a big deal for me as an autistic person who usually has a support person with me. however, my main support person is my mom and she didn't want to go to a concert. plus concert tickets are expensive!
it was Fall Out Boy! my favorite band. and my special interest. they were amazing.
it was pretty nerve-wracking and i started shaking/trembling a few times in line. once i got to my seat it was okay. the only time it was too loud for me is when everyone was cheering. i had to cover my ears then. im actually kind of proud of myself for just covering my ears instead of trying to deal with it.
im very sensory seeking, especially when it comes to music so the loud music and bright lights were A Lot but in a good way. i was close enough to the stage to feel the heat from the pyrotechnics fall out boy was using.
i didn't visibly stim much. i mostly held my phone and played with the pop socket. i did flap my hands a lot when they played Saturday at the end, which if you're a fall out boy fan you might understand! it was a very cool moment.
i also managed to speak verbally to the people at the merch booth! which is a big deal for me. the website said no ipads or tablets and i didn't want to deal with trying to tell every security person that my aac was a medical device. and i could have used my phone in the event i couldn't talk so it was fine. but i did manage verbal speech!
overall i had a positive experience, which im so glad for. i would hate to have the memories of seeing my favorite band "ruined" by a meltdown or panic attack.

Gladiators 2024: The Review
Tumblr media
Gladiators 2024 is in the books, and we have our first champions in 15 years! The new series started with high ratings and has continued to deliver throughout its 11 episode run, capturing the imagination of the general public so strongly that a second series has already been commissioned by the BBC.
Now that it's all over, I think it's fair to say that the show has been a creative triumph as well as a ratings hit, running much closer to the glory days of the 1990s ITV run than the disappointing 2008-09 Sky One revival. While it's fresh in the mind, it's a good time to take a look at what the show did right, as well as identifying any weaknesses that can be improved next time around.
The Good
First off, I think the overall look of the show is fantastic. One of the biggest weaknesses of the Sky show was the small studio setting, and thankfully Sheffield Arena gives the feeling of a big time event that Birmingham's National Indoor Arena did back in the day. The set retains plenty of elements of the 90s presentation, like the padded silver platform edges and the big imposing backdrop of The Wall, but with great modern touches like additional projection. I never hated the water element of the Sky show but I don't miss it, and the added pyrotechnics are a nice touch. I can't think of anything I'd change, except for maybe a move to a bigger arena – more on why later.
The presenter duo of Bradley and Barney Walsh have been somewhat divisive among fans, and there are definitely criticisms to be made. Having said that, it's clear that they're excited to be involved and I think that they're both totally fine on interviews, with Bradley's natural charisma and rapport coming through well. Guy Mowbray has been good value on commentary too.
The on-screen graphics all look very nice, and the introductory video packages and recaps of previous shows are a nice way to get to know the contenders. Likewise, the Gladiator intros are useful in familiarising the audience with the new cast, although it's very clear that they've been reused from episode to episode. I also really liked the touch of having all of the Gladiators welcoming the contenders into the final.
The selection of events was pretty much dead on – all of the returning games were top tier choices from the classic series, though they weren't all handled correctly. I think all three new events are worthwhile additions to the roster, with The Edge being the highlight and really the signature game for the modern show. I wasn't sure about it at first because the initial contenders were quite tentative, but once they started to sprint across, I was hooked. The scoring was initially too generous, but the revision to the rules in the semi-finals was perfect.
Tumblr media
The Ring is very simple, but I can understand the need for that from a TV production perspective – you do need some low-setup, low-tech events to balance out the more elaborate events. Thankfully it is also very hard-hitting, so it's quite entertaining to watch. As for Collision, some people prefer Hit & Run but I actually prefer the new event, thanks to the greater visual involvement of the Gladiators. The need to carry the ball to score also adds an extra wrinkle to the whole thing.
I think the Gladiators this year mostly did a fantastic job in terms of both gameplay and establishing themselves as personalities. For me, there are a few standouts. Nitro is an absolute all-star – he's very charismatic and he seems to be an incredible all-rounder on the events. Legend's heel schtick is highly entertaining, with “There's no I in team, but there are five I's in individual brilliance” being my favourite line of the entire series. I've become a big fan of Fury – she's relentless whether she's on The Ring, The Edge or Powerball, and has a strong sense of fair play. Dynamite's performances stand out as being particularly impressive given that she's not the biggest of the group.
The standard of the contenders was also very high this year. I couldn't pick between Marie-Louise and Bronte for the women's final, and while I did predict the winner of the men's final, it was closer than I was expecting. There were some absolutely cracking close Eliminators along the way, and very few major mismatches. In most cases, even the lowest-scoring contenders managed to pick up points in the majority of their events.
The Bad
I really hate to say this as I'm a huge fan of Bradley Walsh's work on The Chase, but as good as he and Barney are on interviews, their scripted links have been arguably the weakest aspect of the show. Event introductions have frequently made me cringe, with some lame jokes and banter that comes off as forced. They're so much better when they're just allowed to operate naturally, and I hope that if they return, they'll be given room to play things a bit more off-the-cuff.
One aspect of the presentation that winds me up is an occasional lack of information. The clock is displayed on screen for the full duration of every event except The Ring, during which the timer is only shown for the final ten seconds of the game. Why? That's admittedly a small peeve, but I have a far bigger one – the Eliminator times of runners-up determine progression to the quarter-final and semi-final rounds, but we're never shown them. Since this information is so important, it's really frustrating that we never get to see those times, either via a clock running during the event or a leaderboard at the end of the show.
Of course, that only matters because the structure of the competition was a bit unusual – a factor of the 11-week format. I've got to be honest, as good as the action was, I'm not entirely sold on a tournament format that lets you theoretically lose two episodes in a row and still end up in the semi-finals. Also, the criteria for choosing replacement contenders in the case of injury was not especially transparent – lots of people were confused by the addition of Wesley as a brand new contender in the Quarter-Finals, and it's not entirely clear why Matt was brought back from the heats to replace Chung. Hopefully, next time will have more episodes and a simpler single-elimination tournament structure.
Tumblr media
Before the series, I never thought that my criticisms of the events would be about the classics. However, Hang Tough was only featured on three episodes – a crazy low number for one of the most iconic events from the original show. I understand it's because The Edge and Hang Tough can't be set up during the same taping, and I get the need to establish the new event, but let's have a better balance the next time. As for Gauntlet, every single woman scored maximum points and most of the men did too – it's just too easy in its current form. I feel like there's no good reason no to revert to the 1994 rules, with five Gladiators, a 30-second time limit and time-based scoring.
I don't think any of the Gladiators were bad value, and I actually believe that people have been rather unfair to Viper in particular – he's been widely criticised for his performance in events, but in reality his performance has been similar to Wolf's contributions in the original run. The problem is that his villain character isn't quite connecting, and I hope he's allowed to show more personality than “silent and grumpy” if he returns. It's also sad to see that Athena has been given very few one-on-one events and very little interview time, so I hope she gets more focus if she comes back.
Further thoughts
Ulrika Jonsson has complained about the loss of the cheerleaders from the ITV show. I don't particularly miss them, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to have them? Also, I'm a huge fan of the event music from the ITV version of the show, and not having such prominent tunes did bug me at first. However, over the course of the series I did become used to it and it's not something I'd look to change now.
Jet has mentioned that she and other past Gladiators would have liked to have been involved in the show, providing colour commentary or some sort of insight. This may be controversial, but I actually think that not including them was the right choice for the first series. The problem with bringing the old favourites back from the start is that you immediately run the risk of overshadowing the new cast, as well as pigeonholing the show as nothing more than a nostalgic product – something I think the show has very successfully avoided, as it's hugely popular with both kids and adults.
Having said that, I do think that bringing them in for a second series would be a good move now that the new cast is established. If the production team can bring back additional classic events, the veterans can speak with authority about what it's like to play them, and young fans can get a glimpse of the people their parents keep mentioning. What's more, if someone like Jet were to come back, it would be nice to have a woman as part of the presenting team, as was the case in the ITV and Sky versions of the show.
Tumblr media
I have no doubts over the professionalism of everybody involved in the health and safety aspects of the show, and it was good to see stoppages and such when needed. However, I was quite surprised by the number of equipment malfunctions – lost shoes on The Wall, helmets coming off, all that stuff. There were also plenty of injuries – Comet, Sabre, Finley, Dev, Chung, even Finlay forfeited an event due to being banged up. It's obviously a high-impact show, but hopefully the next series won't be quite like this.
Although the arena used was good for the show, I feel like it may benefit from a move to a bigger venue for the next series. Public interest is sufficiently high I don't think you'd have trouble filling out the seats, and it would give the benefit of increasing the space available for the events - especially if a third event requiring ceiling space is added, since The Edge and Hang Tough should both be prominent.
Wishlist for next series
Three new events, two returning/revised and one new (return preferences: Skytrak, Atlaspheres and Danger Zone)
Gauntlet rules revised
Two to four additional Gladiators
Better utilisation of Viper and Athena
More episodes with a simplified tournament format
More transparency about the competitive aspects of the show
Presenters given either less scripting or better scripting
Fewer injuries!
Final thoughts
As a huge fan of Gladiators since the very first series, I was really apprehensive about the show returning. Would it live up to my expectations? The Sky show never managed to match the ITV run for me, even though I had the good fortune to attend a taping for the second series. Would it hit with the public? I've watched enough worthwhile retro revivals fall flat to know that it was by no means guaranteed.
The new series has exceeded my expectations - I genuinely didn't think it'd be pulled off this well, and I'm so happy the show has been given the revival it deserves. Overall I think the entire team has done a fantastic job, and hopefully it's clear that the criticisms that I've made come don't come from a desire to knock their hard work, but are provided with the most constructive intent. The show was great this year, and I'm confident that a few tweaks will make it even better next time around.
Hope you enjoyed this review - let me know your thoughts, and I'll be back soon with some statistical analysis for the series.

My changes for Vat7k
I got a new idea for the fanfiction which develops Hugo to be imperfect but at the same time grew to have a complex and developed relationship with Varian, as well as giving Nuru and Yong more time to develop and show up in more chapters and such. I do stand by and accept your points and they can be valid and it makes me wanna change up the concept of Vat7k as a whole. Maybe include Varian's attributes of season 3's character and make him the former criminal of the town before he was a citizen of Corona and the rest of the seven kingdoms as well as me giving Nuru, Yong and Hugo to have different types of scientists to not copy Varian's:
Hugo: He would be an engineer, physistic and mineralogist but bear in mind that he can't be perfect so I put more emphasis on his criminal background.
And be like the engineer version of Eugene Fitzherbert. He would be a contrast to him because of their career differences and how they’d affect personality. Eugene is a lone thief in the past and therefore Hugo would be like the 2.0 of him, he steals for himself and for profit. He’s basically self-employed!
Yong: He’s mainly got experience with pyrotechnics, he’d be good for defence.
Yong's got a unique background in that he’s very into a specific type of chemistry which is probably different from Varian's. And Yong does have a background in mechanics and is useful in equations and he's a firecracker. He probably knows a bit about temperature science, which might be helpful for a specific task.
Nuru: Nuru's science is astrology, an old kind of astronomy and meteorology, that also includes airflow on the planet. She could probably fill in the team's role as navigator of the group.
Nuru has been studying princess things a lot of her life a lot of that stemming from the fact that she does know other kingdoms and placements, so I can add in geography as a form of her interests and if I create her some kind of background and story a little less sheltered she’d be a good cultural consultant which in turn she’d need to know about neighbouring kingdoms to do politics well and she’d also probably be a good communicator, she’d be good at convincing people to do things for the group.
And we just leave Quirin behind like that in most fanworks.
Donella is totally down for overthrowing the rich and if she was a mob boss alongside being the royal engineer then she could make a lot of connections and identify different targets, just sayin’… I have this idea of her being raised by a librarian/scholar/academic type person so she’s raised with a strong appreciation for knowledge. Ulla’s main goal in getting to the Eternal Library was to find out more about magic so Donella’s goal could have something to do with the economic divide in Iingvar, trying to decrease the poverty rates or Maybe that’s why she takes in Hugo, perhaps there are other kids who work for her in exchange for a safe shelter.
Cus of this, Hugo is a double agent.
Everyone just forgets Cyrus once in a while, I personally think that he and Donella met when she did the iron trial and did something that he feels indebted to her, not sure exactly what but you don’t gain loyal followers for doing nothing. He was definitely a young Hugo’s training dummy/babysitter/jungle gym and as Hugo got older it was more trying to get a reaction out of him.
I mean, Cyrus is stoic and doesn’t talk much and stays completely silent.
As he’ll often lend an ear but whether he’s actually paying attention is up for debate. When he does talk! I reckon he gives great advice and he is probably a good and supportive person to vent to.
And why do Varian's relatives have to have the same features as him?
Buck teeth
Big eyes
Freckles
Literally, these are meant to make Varian unique.

Do you do requests/commissions (illustration or animations)?
Not really. It’s hard to explain but if you wish to hire me as an animator or artist for a project (animated productions, zines, etc), please send a business inquiry to my business email. But if you’re looking for just regular commissions where it’s more open to the general public, then no. My work schedule is quite packed so I don’t have the capacity to do commissions like I used to years ago.

What are your thoughts on Taylor Swift and the controversy about the dead fan?
*sighs* Okay, lets make one thing clear here: I have not seen any brazilian fan, media, or law enforcer so much as implying Ana's death was in any way Taylor's fault, because it wasn't.
T4F was extremelly irresponsible for forbidden people to bring water to the concert in a stadium, filled with metal plates and a ton of pyrotechnics, during an awful heatwave that got the temperature of 60°c (140°F). Lots of people got second degree burns, over a thousand fans passed out, and lots were sick enough to vomit. And, tragically, Ana died - and the bastards didn't even give her family the money to take her body back to their city, so she could buried. They had to ask for donations.
None of that is Taylor's fault, and I say this as someone that has never really cared all that much about her music (though I do think she should not have used pyrotechnics that day due the heat, and fans DID beg her not to). Brazilian companies can be very irresponsible and not give a fuck about anyone's safety as long as it makes them a little bit extra money. I also don't blame her for canceling the show of the following day as "By the way, someone died" is a more than understandable reason to be upset, and considering the temperature was still absurd, she would have been risking another tragedy. She did well to not perform again until it was safe to do so.
HOWEVER, the way she and her associates have handled the situation is attrocious. A quick stories saying "Guys, I'm so upset, I won't even talk about it or mention this girl's name at all" is not the same as offering sympathy to the family - and despite what plenty of foreign fans/media outlets have been saying since this happened, NO, Taylor/her associates did NOT get in contact with the family, did NOT offer condolences or any help, and did NOT pay any homage to Ana. Like I said, she did not so much as say the girl's name, and a moment of the show in which fans were planning to have a minute of silence in Ana's honor was changed, preventing it from happening.
This was made worse since people started comparing this to the time Taylor's mother visited a girl that passed out in concert in Dallas and offered her tickets to another show, and are wondering why there's this odd "don't talk about it" approach now.
The cancelled concert also led to controversy - because the fans were not warned that it would no longer be a show until they were all ALREADY in the venue. Again, this was nearly 24 hours after the tragedy, so there was more than enough to announce that (completely understandable, and like I said, probably far safer) change of plans.
She has not been pushing for any kind of punishment towards T4F either, even though by now it is abundantly clear they are to blame for one of her fans being dead, and several others needing to be hospitalized. She'd obviously be more than within her rights to do so, as it's her image attached to this mess, and she could have easily ended up sick/injured herself. Once again, the actual people here in Brazil were the ones calling out how absurd T4F's behavior was and are pushing for it to be illegal for companies to do anything remotely simmilar to what they did.
Some of her associates were also getting in trouble with the police because they covered their car-plates to not be identified by fans. Disregarding a countries' law when people are already thinking you're being a bunch of arrogant assholes that expect to get away with anything and everything.
I don't know if her management or her family or a friend or whoever told her that keeping quiet was the best away to avoid a scandal, but if someone DID tell her that, Taylor needs to stop listening to that person immediately and address the issue already, because right now she's coming off as cold and VERY disrespectful.
Tragedies happening in concerts or festivals is nothing new, be it in Brazil or anywhere else. Shit can always go wrong in a place packed with people, specially if the organizers are idiots. But there is a way to behave when that happens, and it includes the artist in question having the basic decency to at least contact the families and say "I am so sorry for your loss, I'm looking into what I can do to make sure this never happens again" - aka the bare fucking minimum.

From OSI to Taylor Swift: Radio/TV Alum Credits UCF for His Job on the Eras Tour
TJ Lievonen ’18 shares what it’s like touring with the singer and how his time at UCF prepared him for the role.
By Rachel Williams ’15 ’20MA
April 11, 2023
“Since then, I’ve fallen in love with the fact that a big team can go into any venue and set up a stage equipped with lights, audio, video and be ready to produce a show within a matter of hours,” says Lievonen. “The rush of energy before a show starts where the whole team is on the same page, ready to produce the best show possible, is an unmatched, great feeling.”
Since graduating from UCF, Lievonen has had video production jobs with the University of Miami, Palm Beach County Government and Universal Orlando Resort. Now, he’s in his most exciting era yet — touring with Taylor Swift on her sold-out tour as part of the video production crew.
Here, he shares more on this exciting opportunity and how his UCF education positioned him for success.
What does your job on this tour entail?
I am responsible for operating one of 13 cameras during the show. Our team also assists in setting up stage components like a large LED wall that’s 90×27 panels, running thousands of feet of cable and other miscellaneous tasks associated with a stadium show.
What makes the production of this tour so special?
There are multiple stages, which really makes this tour stand out and shine. It’s a very dynamic show with lots of songs and set pieces.
It’s been a dream of yours to tour with a musical artist. Why? How did it feel to land this job with Taylor Swift?
Putting on a concert requires so many different departments to come together — lighting, audio, video, pyrotechnics, carpenters, automation, catering and so much more. If one of them drops the ball, it affects the whole show. But when it all comes together, it’s magic. Taylor Swift puts on one of the best shows out there, both in terms of entertainment and in production value. I was so excited and humbled to be chosen for this job. I actually couldn’t believe it was happening after years of improving myself and my work.
How did your UCF education help prepare you for this opportunity?
At UCF I learned the basics of video production — proper framing and exposure, which are critically important. The Production Fundamentals and Aesthetics of Electronic Media course gave me an amazing foundation and skill set to build from, as well as some techniques that I still keep in my back pocket today. The best experience, though, came from outside the classroom and being involved in the university community. While working at OSI, I advised crew members on aesthetics and environmental concerns to enhance the value of our production. I also worked at UCF Athletics as a camera operator for football, basketball, baseball and softball games. It was an amazing job that gave me unparalleled experience.
What advice would you give to other radio/TV students?
If you’re early, you’re on time. If you’re on time, you’re late. If you’re late, don’t even bother showing up. In the production world, this is very important. Also, work hard — always. There are so many jobs to go around, but those who get them are the ones who put in 110%. Speak less, listen more. We have a lot to learn from mentors in the industry who came before us.
Also, jobs in the concert touring industry often are not posted online. The best way to find similar opportunities is to network with people in the industry, both in person and on platforms like LinkedIn, which is how I landed this gig.
Last but definitely not least – what is your favorite Taylor Swift song?
They are all amazing, of course, but my favorite is “Midnight Rain.”
