Idk outsiders sick headcanons because I’m a sucker for sick fics

Darry

- he hates being sick. Nobody in his gang is good at taking care of sick ppl

- you may think soda would be, BUT HE IS NOT!!! Soda is caring but he would forget things

- darry takes care of himself, which makes him miss his mom a lot :(

- so he’s just miserable the whole time. Luckily for him, he’s a big boy with a strong immune system, so it never lasts for long

Sodapop

- never gets sick

- at least, when he does it’s very light and over very soon. God favors this man too much

- but when he’s under the weather, everyone is nice to him (especially Steve)

- he feels guilty when he’s sick because it’s hard for him to be there for other people emotionally when he feels yuckie.

Ponyboy

- baby 🙄

- jk but the gang treats him like he’s just a lil tiny baby when he’s sick. He gets pillows and he gets to sit on the couch and watch whatever he wants (normally he would get pushed off the couch and onto the floor)

- he cries if people are mean to him while he’s sick. If darry doesn’t give him soup STAT he gets the sniffles

- after he gets better the meanies (Steve and Dally) make fun of him for it

Two bit

- he goes to his house and makes his mom take care of him because she babies the hell out of him

- he makes his little sister watch tv with him and keep him company, she always gets sick after him

- he makes less jokes, especially if he feels really gross. He never does anything to make himself feel better though (taking medicine mainly)

- overall he’s very good about resting

Steve

- if soda and darry are the best at recovering, Steve is the worst. He has the weakest immune system, he gets sick and he STAYS sick.

- he’s out for a week for something as simple as a common cold. All his sick days are used up.

- he’s useless and pathetic. He can’t even be mean. He also looks awful

- in fact he’s very sweet when he’s sick. Once he snuggled up to Johnny and talked about how much he loved him (Johnny got sick afterwards but it gave him a much needed ego boost)

Johnny

- he tries to stay away when he’s sick, he doesn’t want to get anyone else sick

- usually Dally figures it out and forces him to come to the curtis house. Then Johnny gets babied, which he finds very annoying

- but he always recovers faster when he’s around them. He feels awful when someone gets sick after him though

- anyways he doesn’t usually have more than a cough or a runny nose, but darry makes him sleep in his bed with like ten blankets on top of him

Dallas

- he’s a jerk when he’s sick. He knows he can get away with it so he does.

- curses ppl out and then begs them to come back after they try and leave. Learned puppy eyes from Johnny so he could pull this off

- refuses to rest. Once darry had to wrap him in a blanket like a burrito and hold him until he passed out so he would go tf to sleep

- he likes to cough at ppl when they make him mad. Sometimes darry just can’t deal with it and drops him off at Bucks lmao

Tim

- refuses to be sick

- at least, refuses to let other ppl know he’s sick. He could be dying and you wouldn’t be able to tell until he passes out.

- which happens… frequently. More than once, Dally has had to drag Tim home because Tim just dropped.

- sometimes if he doesn’t have plans he lets himself rest, but he usually doesn’t have time for that.

Angela

- she turns it into everyone’s problem. She’s already the princess of the family, being sick makes it 1000x worse

- Tim and curly either do whatever she says or face her wrath (she has blackmail on both of them)

- also super cuddly, if curly comes in to give her some soup, she snatches him up and he’s stuck there until she falls asleep.

- same goes for Tim (which is why he sends curly)

Curly

- he just gets sleepy. It’s the one time tim and Angela really see him as their little brother (like they always know, but it’s so clear when he’s sick)

- they fuss over him so bad. Tim and angela get so worried because like… he’s never like this!!! He’s quiet! He’s not breaking things! He’s just lying there all day!

- it takes him forever to get through a bowl of soup because he keeps falling asleep

- also!! His curls get very frizzy and tangled. He looks pathetic and it just tugs at Tim and Angela’s heartstrings. (They have curly hair too, but curly has the perfect length to look sad and losery)

Bryon

- he’s always sick with mark. They’re never sick separately

- he’s a big boy though, like… sickness passes through very fast

- he usually has to take care of himself and mark because his mom is busy, so when he shoudk be resting, he isn’t.

- also he’s def bad at self care, he still goes out and does things even when he feels gross. He ends up falling asleep in some randos house

Mark

- always sick with bryon, always gets taken care of

- he’s short and scrawny, sickness hits him like a Victorian orphan child

- he still goes out though. He and bryon will be blowing their noses at a party because they didn’t want to just stay home

Cathy

- normal person! She just reads and sleeps.

- her heart gets super tangled though, so she puts it into twin braids

- makes M&M keep her company, which he does because they’re good siblings!

M&M

- just like Cathy, he is well adjusted and knows how to care for himself.

- his little siblings sneak into his room and cuddle with him. He knows he should tell them to leave so they don’t get sick, but he loves it too much

- his dad is nicer to him when he’s sick, M&M will be half asleep and then he wakes up because his dad is checking in on him nervously

I saw BABYMETAL live in concert in Milan last night!

It was SO awesome!!! It was definitely worth the 5 hour travel and organisation around it (& a great excuse to meet up with the bestie @transimailisa again <3) despite the cold and wet weather. Though we were a bit late to the queue (we arrived around 30min before doors opened?) we managed to get pretty good spots to stand, maybe around 10-15m away from the stage. When my view was not blocked by Every Tall Italian Man Ever, you could see the performers really clearly. I really had such a great time. I cannot overstate how good of a time I had.

I got into BM casually somewhere around 2020, obviously couldn't see them in concert because of the pandemic. So of course I immediately jumped from my seat when the EU tour was announced. I've been a jp idol fan for a while now and I've seen quite a few idol concerts, and I've also been to metal concerts now, so I wondered how their concert would be like (lmao) and if people would bring stuff like light blades etc. I saw one guy with a blade but apart from that it was just like any regular concert I've been to. The energy in the crowd was great, despite the language barrier so many people knew the songs and sang along, the call and response portions especially in Monochrome (beloved beloved beloved) were just... saur good. Mwah.

I think the most surprising thing to me (up til now pretty casual fan, have only seen a few live performances of some songs of theirs but never a full concert) was how... goofy they were? I always imagined them being this super serious trio with a hard exterior that never cracked, but my god those girls were having the time of their lives on that stage, it was really infectious. Especially Momo & Moa moved around the sides of the stage a lot, interacting with the audience, and they were laughing and headbanging along. Pris caught this (I was too busy going insane) but we think that somewhere in Megitsune Su fumbled a lyric or something, and the other two immediately bullied her for it and they were all laughing :D I guess that is a tradition that continues with other groups I follow lmao

In general it was such a great concert, great sound and a GREAT setlist with really high energy songs at the start (Gimme Chocolate, PA PA YA) and overall a fun mixture of old and new bangers. The only sad thing was that it was only just over an hour long, I would have loved 2 or 3 more songs and a proper Encore. Despite that, we all went home exhausted and happy from dancing and celebrating, and now that I'm back in my own cozy bed and thinking about the experience I can't wait to do it again!!

Okay. I am pretty rigid on keeping the blog pokemon-related, but you, dear anon, have asked me about something that I love more than anything else.

So I'm gonna just go wild with this and give you more than you asked for because frankly I am one of the biggest swifities on this Earth and honestly squeal any time I get the opportunity to talk about Taylor's music because of how much of a massive impact it has had on me. I get nervous with each drop but, without fail? Each and every album, in order, tends to follow themes in my life and somehow encapsulates a lot of what I'm going through in some way. I love each of these albums in their own way, and it's a bit hard to give them rankings. Less favorites are still very much favorites though!

1 - reputation

Holy trinity: I Did Something Bad; Don't Blame Me; New Year's Day Honorable mentions: literally every other song

This album was a torniquet for me, and even when I'm not fully relating to it emotionally as much it may just be permanently cemented in my heart and soul as the top dog because of how monumental it was to me. It dropped at a time in my life when I was reallllyyy going through it, and a lot of the overarching narrative of "I will survive this tooth and nail for better days, even if my dignity is lost" resonated hard. I think the presentation and marketing of this album was utterly genius (reclaiming the narratives, sound production/lyrical risks and imagery that were executed JUST right, the MERCH REFERENCES, the "bombastic, external persona" that transitions to "this is the real me behind closed doors; I found and cherish what's truly important and that's all that really matters", etc.) was just perfect. Perfect, perfect, perfect. IDSM AMA 2018 performance is also the best live performance ever, forever obsessed. Overall, this album is the one I turn to whenever life is hard and I want to fan the flames of resilience.

2 - evermore

Holy trinity: coney island; tolerate It; 'tis the damn

Honorable mentions: champagne problems; gold rush; long story short; Willow

God, I love evermore. Didn't even realize how much I did until the past year or so. I have a lot of deep cuts on this album, and like folklore, it was just SO awesome to have albums where the general public could see more of Taylor's quill pen songwriting on full display (although glitter gel pen songs are EQUALLY cool). I love the maturity behind this album and it actually taught me how to fall in love with the colder seasons and weather. Coney Island specifically lowers my blood pressure like no other song has ever done and I can't even tell you fully why; it's so surreal and serene to listen to on planes. And tolerate it? CHRIST. When I revisited it as I went through some of it in real time, OOOF. DIFFERENT LEVEL OF RESPECT. It is def in my top 5 songs. 3 - folklore

Holy trinity: caridgan; the 1; hoax

Honorable mentions: my tears richochet; mad woman; the lakes; peace; invisible string; august

CARDIGAN. CARDIGAN. Rep is my favorite album, but cardigan is my favorite song ohmygooood. Never have I ever felt something epitomize my life experiences and personhood - it quite literally feels like an encapsulation of my soul. I feel very spoiled that it got to be a single and mv - just absolutely stunning. Personally, I connect this song to a return to lost childhood innocence. And I am proud to say I own one of the original original cardigans and the only way you can separate it from me is by prying it from my cold, dead hands. BUT YES, FOLKLORE IS ELITE. The storytelling on this album is next level and the surprise drop of such intricate thought during the height of the pandemic was very needed. Hoax is an oddly specific lullaby for me because it was a specific comfort to me at one night. The 1 is just ooOOOOF also.

4 - Lover

Holy trinity: All Of The Girls You Loved Before; Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince; Cornelia Street

Honorable Mentions: False God; Cruel Summer; I Think He Knows; Daylight

I honestly don't give this album enough credit because I resonate a lot with its visuals and messages. It is def a bit more slapped together than others, but I do like the symbolism in that. Lover is about all forms of love (romantic, familial, platonic, self-based) and I often times get told by irl peeps that this alongside the folkmore albums are the kinds of energies I tend to emit lol. Daylight in particular has one of the most fire TS quotes at her adlib at the end with the whole "You are what you love" thing, and GOD. Any time I think of it or hear it I re-evaluate a lot to make sure I can live by it. Fun fact: revisiting the song is how I ended 2023, and it was the trigger that made me decide to write fanfiction & start this blog, because it's important to follow all sorts of things that make you happy! <3

5 - 1989 (TV)

Holy trinity: New Romantics; Say Don't Go; I Know Places

Honorable Mentions: Bad Blood (both versions; fight me); YOU ARE IN LOVE UGH; Is It Over Now?; Style; Clean

This album is pop perfection and I think every Swiftie can agree on that universally even if you're not a big fan of 1989. But ooohhh my gosh, this album set me free when it came out. There are so many positive messages about expressing yourself, leaning into the messes of life, and also, just letting yourself loosen up a bit. I was in a bit of an angsty emo phase when the og came out (lol) and Taylor's bubbliness challenged me in a great way and helped me get a bit of my sunshine back. It was my second most anticipated TV re-release, and the vault tracks DID not disappoint. Now that I'm more in the range of what Taylor was reflecting on at the time, too? OOF. DO I FEEL MORE CONNECTED THAN BEFORE.

6 - Fearless (TV)

Holy trinity: Mr. Perfectly Fine; The Way I Loved You; Forever & Always (Piano Version) Honorable Mentions: Change; You're Not Sorry; White Horse; Fifteen; The Best Day; You Belong With Me

Gosh. Fearless. FEARLESS. This album just stands out to me as such an homage to my childhood in a lot of different ways - but more so of the braver side of me in it. I absolutely love the imagery and dramatics of this album and feel like its just a bucket of sunshine and golden stars and warmth. It takes me back to simpler days, and I love love love how Mr. Perfectly Fine leans straight into some of the bangers I really loved on the og. This is more of a sunshiny fire album to me.

7- Midnights

Holy trinity: You're Losing Me; Dear Reader; Bejeweled (new! lmao)

Honorable Mentions: You're On Your Own, Kid; Would've Could've Should've; Lavender Haze; Anti-Hero; Midnight Rain; Mastermind; Snow On The Beach (feat. More Lana Del Ray)

This album is very dreary in a lot of ways, and jeez, I needed it when it first came out. Happy to say I went from more of a "Dear Reader" vibe to a "Bejeweled" vibe from release to now. I love the concept behind it so much and it's interesting to be able to relate to the "coming out of the dread" side thats sprinkled in here and there. It speaks to the more "stormy" parts of me that I tend to hide from others, and I really relate to TS's portrayal of it given her own general outward disposition.

8 - Red (TV)

Holy trinity: All Too Well 10 Minute Version; I Knew You Were Trouble; Begin Again

Honorable Mentions: Better Man; Girl At Home (fight me); Nothing New; Sad Beautiful Tragic; Treacherous

Okaayyy, THIS is the fall album. And we're getting to the point where these beautiful albums LOOK like they're ranked low, but the favoritism is still very much high regardless. God, ATWTMV took ATW and added a whole MAGNITUTE of maturity and retrospect that really speaks to a personal experience that I've had. I am beyond grateful that we finally got it and younger me would be screaming in disbelief!! LOL. But yeah, this album is what I turn to for heartbreak at times (more so of messy, fast and quick kind of feelings), and Begin Again is very relegable as a spiritual palette cleanser. The red scarf is one of my other favorite merch items I own.

9 - Speak Now (TV)

Holy trinity: Castles Crumbling; Mean; Haunted

Honorable mentions: Foolish One; Back to December; Enchanted; Better Than Revenge (lol og lowkey); Ours (MH ruined this one for me temporarily); I Can See You

This album is another childhood reminder type of album because of how whimsical and fairytale-esque it is, but I'll admit that Fearless (TV) is a little closer to my heart. Castles Crumbling though???? OH. MY. GOD. That had my jaw to the ground and is def in the top 10. What a tragedy to add to SPEAK NOW of all albums, and what nightmarish foresight Taylor must've had to compose it way back when. Haunted also speaks to my soul but more in a familial kind of way, and Mean? Mean is the spiteful little child in me LOL.

10 - Taylor Swift

Holy Trinity: Should've Said No; Tied Together With a Smile; Cold As You

Honorable Mentions: The Outside; A Place in This World; Picture To Burn

I'm ngl! This album I'm probably much more disconnected with compared to others despite me being a big Swiftie. Most of this is because I wasn't fully a fan when this came out, and country music isn't really my kind of jam. I'm very curious about how the TV is going to be handled and I think it's going to grow on me a bit more. Nonetheless, the holy trinity is elite and Should've Said No/Bad Blood mashup during the rep tour changed me as a person. One day I shall yee the haw here.

This was a lot of fun to share (and I know you didn't fully ask for this but HERE YA GO LOL), TS is my kryptonite and my everything and I hope you enjoyed. :) <3

Congrats on the 1k followers! I loved your matchup you did for me not too terribly long ago and thought I’d really love to participate in this event too, I hope you don’t mind

This is in request of twisted wonderland fandom.

1. The one who I took the hand off first was Malleus. I favored him in the beginning because I freaking love dragons, and those horns! 😂 yeah, sadly I’m a dork. Anywho, he was tall, dark and mysterious. Who isn’t immediately drawn to that type of enigma? Then to learn that he was never invited to meetings and what nots, I felt bad for him. Poor thing 😭

2. I enjoyed Malleus only short lived though, Rook Hunt’s flirting is what freaking drew me in. Lord have mercy! No character makes you feel quite loved and appreciate like he freaking does! He’s heavy on the flirting and praise… kind of hard to not like that (especially when you are a social outcast and overall black sheep). So, Rook Hunt has been my Home Screen and obsession for literally longer than any other character in any Otome or game or anime that I’ve ever freaking obsessed over. lol! I get excited whenever he pops up in events and stories! I’m obsessed over him like he is with Leona and Neige! 😭😭😭 it’s so sad!

3. Rook Hunt-he seems to be the kindest and least judgmental character. His smile and laugh are freaking infectious! His flirting! His voice actor does him major justice, that voice makes me melt every time! As a person who is extremely socially awkward (outside of internet, apparently😂😂) it is nice to know that there is a character who can actually understand exactly what you are thinking or needing without you having to actually voice it (however it also makes you feel vulnerable too!)

4. I think Malleus and I would get along as friends and that would be it. I don’t feel like I need to miss him as I still quite like his character and I enjoy the conversations him and Yuu have. However, my heart quite literally belongs to another…though his love and devotion to Vil and Neige would totally make me jealous and possessive…so pathetic, I know 😭

5. I’m an Aries and an infp. I’m socially awkward and introverted, shy and quiet. I have ptsd, depression and anxiety from being bullied in school (from kindergarten to junior year), a narcissistic and neglectful mother and an abusive father (so I’m not very trusting of others it takes awhile before I let most people in my life and if I do let you in just know I trust and care for you and am fiercely loyal and devoted and extremely protective). I have long hair that I always dye red as it is the only color that takes and actually looks decent on me. I have freckles and hazel eyes and am 5’5 1/2. I love lord of the rings, Harry Potter, and am now freaking obsessed with Wednesday ( I’m literally a mix between Wednesday and her roommate Enid!)i love swords, storms, rain (cold dreary weather!!!❤️❤️❤️). I enjoy reading and love chamomile tea! I love music and singing (can’t dance but can sing). I love artists like Aurora and Naika, neoni, sia…do not like country or rap. I prefer night time, not a fan of sun or heat. I’m a solitude and quiet individual who prefers to observe and not interact.

6. I honestly would prefer to be with Rook. I’d like something romantic. I like yandere, but let’s face it, if it were yandere, I’d sadly be the yandere. I’m too freaking obsessive. Possessive, jealous and downright territorial! However, luckily I’m not the person to act on it. My moral compass is decent for one, I’m also too shy and timid! I have a tendency to also not believe that someone could really really like me (sadly that was beat into me). I’m more fantasy driven rather than action oriented. Good lord I hope I haven’t scared ya away!

Im Which we See a Snapshot of how Rook Woos his Lover

Rook had first spotted you when he was hunting observing the Rois de Dragons. The two of you were sipping tea on the Ramshackle porch, and having a riveting conversation about gargoyles (Rook could perfectly read lips). The way your eyes were shining in the evening light, it was love at first sight. And Rook handled it as any normal person would.

"Bonjour, mon petit lapin! J'taime! May I join your conversation?" He said, jumping out of the bushes, and sweeping his hat off his head as he bowed before you.

Luckily for him, you didn't speak French, at least not fluently. While both of you were startled by the man from the bushes, you figured with Malleus you would be safe. So you allowed him to join you both.

Four months later, you'd fallen for him just as hard as he'd fallen for you. He'd slowly lured you in with the biweekly hair touch ups and his tongue of gold.

Now that you were together, the hair touch ups might be a little too much for your heart.

One thing you could say about Rook, was that he didn't cheap out on hair dye. Honestly, you probably didn't even need to touch it up so often, but it had become a pattern that when the roots started to show, you would hang out in Rook's room after class as he did your hair.

He would apply hair dye while whispering compliments directly into your ear.

"Your eyes are glittering today with the stars that have bound us together. Tres magnifique!"

He would also hum, as he applied the dye, then washed it out, usually giving you an extra scalp massage as he did so. (You still couldn't decide whether teaching him "The Edge of Night" was good or bad).

He would blow dry your hair, and as he maneuvered the dryer, and your hair, he would gently caress the skin he touched.

By this point, his compliments would be slowly devolving into completely French.

"Ma Cherie, you are truly le plus bel être à avoir jamais vécu."

Then he'd press a kiss behind your ear, and whisper something like,

"Were I a meilleur poète, je pourrais te dire à quel point tu as volé mon cœur."

Then he'd slip himself into your lap, and tap your nose playfully while whispering into your neck,

"tu éclaires le monde et dissipe toute l'obscurité et l'ombre dans mon coeur."

He would continue working his fingers through your hair, as he waited for you to get more and more flustered under his touch. He wanted to kiss you. Badly. But a good hunter makes his prey come to him.

And you always did, as he whispered in French to you, and nuzzled deeper into your neck, pressing soft kisses wherever his mouth landed.

"Rook."

You would always softly whisper his name. He would pull away and look into your eyes with a truly innocent expression.

"Mon lapin?"

Then you would give him an epic pout, and mutter something like, "I know what you're doing. Just kiss me already, you sadist."

He would gasp in mock surprise, and run his thumb along your pouting lips.

"Je suis desole! I have been so focused on your hair that I have neglected you! Ah! I am truly a heartless lover."

You would scowl at him, and be about to remind him that he was teasing you the entire time, but he would always cut you off with a kiss. Which would turn into two kisses. Which would become a cuddle pile of kisses that would last until the door would open, and you'd hear a proper melodic voice call….

"Oh for seven's sake. There's no need to do this every other Tuesday."

Ah, Vil. Ruiner of all the good times.

bug husbandry etc

the temperature is getting better which means I should be able to keep my enclosures humid enough again (plus the water pillows help) so it's time to get new springtails I think...! my first batch did SO WELL for a while like there must have been thousands when I started with just a little plastic cup of them, but I think at some point my tanks dried out way too much faster than I could keep rehydrating so they all died off :C but I really do need more before it gets to be summer weather, because they made a HUGE difference in keeping mold growth down (before the isopod culture really boomed too), like, a good 85% LESS mold than I'm used to dealing with?

but I found a new shop to order from thats both cheaper and offers a bigger variety of springtails... got 100 tropical pink, which are good at surviving dry periods and breed well in moisture, and just because I was so tantilzed I got 100 blue podura because they apparently breed extremely prolifically AND their eggs are visible to the naked eye!?! INSANE!! I NEED THEM!

and this is motivation to clean my fucking hisser tank because I NEED that to be ready to add springtails in, with good refreshed substrate and nutrients and such. my dubia tank is still looking good though! also my powder orange isopods are still doing fairly well! I did lose some in the dry periods but overall they persisted, and I still have a separate container I continue culturing them in but the biggest hit that happened to them was one of the periods I was out of state, the person taking care of my bugs dropped the container and everything spilled out, and she tried to like put it all back the best she could but.. when she informed me I did not understand she meant she spilled the WHOLE thing I thought she meant a handful escaped and I was like oh it's fine do whatever .. so I didn't give detailed instructions what to do......... when I came back the substrate was like immensely soaked and the wrong food was put in it? ;;;; I wasn't mad but like oh god it just hasn't recovered to where it was in the hundreds of pods and I've been trying and trying.. but I'm hoping the better weather will help stimulate breeding and stuff... also I ordered a gallon of maple leaf litter to spread around for everyone, and I gotta hydrate more moss.. also REALLY need more cork but ALAS the site I was ordering from was sold out .. it's hard to find cork that isn't balls expensive

ALSO I don't have the space to size up on my hisser tank like I had at my old apt but they have continued to breed just INSANELY like I don't even know WHY they did so in the cold months when they're supposed to slow down, I have SO MANY NYMPHS AT ALL TIMES, HUNDREDS, every time I open the enclosure a bunch inevitably get out and I've just stopped trying to contain and catch every single one like I'm just like whatever man. so theres hisser nymphs roaming around my room all the time (it's not a concern b/c they're tropical and cant breed/infest, like, they basically just eventually turn up dead somewhere or I find em and finally toss them back in the tank), sometimes the random house spiders eat them LMAO but I gotta Do something about it like, get around to actually selling these guys as feeders or something

I take TOO GOOD OF CARE of my roaches I am SWIMMING in roaches I am up to my neck in roaches

I digress though I am so excited for the springtails to arrive, whenever they do

1. hmm… jeez that’s a really good question. i used to read A LOT when i was little. like my reading was so good that when i was in kindergarten they let me go around the school and read books to the upper grades??? idk it was a whole thing. they put me on a fucking pedestal lmao

BUT ANYWAYS, i’m trying to remember something that early on since i read so many things back then… i def recall liking the junie b. jones books, and the magic treehouse series (specifically the one book about the civil war lol) so i guess i’ll go with that!!

2. i think i have to say iced drinks! i definitely like both, but i’m extremely impatient/impulsive and hate waiting for hot drinks to cool down 😭 i also just like the refreshing feeling of a cold drink! lately i’m super into that iced passion tea lemonade or whatever from starbucks lol

3. i love winter!!!!!! i love the cold and snow and overall serenity of the season. i mean that’s how it feels to me at least. i also adore the holidays and personally i’m a big fan of when it gets dark by 5pm LMAO it just feels so chill. i kinda wished i lived somewhere with more snow tbh like it happens here but the weather can be sporadic and weird

Welcome Home AU Concept - Weather Wonderland

Long ago, there was a Sun and there was a Moon. They are the creators of the Welcome Home universe. For the longest time they were the keepers to all of the weather experiences that is possible in their world, which mirrors our own Earth’s experiences with weather, but eventually they got tired and decided to rest amongst the stars. So they scattered their various abilities into the cast of Welcome Home, and the Welcome Home show started in order to teach the youth in our world about the importance of learning about and respecting the weather.

From Wally who controls and represents the sprit of cold and ice, to Home who controls and represents the spirit of heat and fire, this is a concept masterpost for any and all information for this AU idea. I hope you enjoy reading this beloved reader, and I hope we can all work together to bring this AU to life! The following is what each of the characters represent/control, along with various tidbits/thoughts/information that can be used for this AU:

Wally - Cold/Ice/Snow Home - Fire/Heat Barnaby - Rain/Water Julie - Spring/Flowers Sally - Sun/Summer Poppy - Autumn/Stagnating Weather Howdy - Fauna/Forests Eddie - Wind/Air Frank - Earth/Rocks

-Wally: Sneezes and a blast of cold air comes out

-I chose wind/air for Eddie because he's a fast delivery man! He could use the wind to help him deliver letters

-Barnaby is blue like water, and him being water while Wally is ice has a lot of symbolism for their friendship

-Home being fire while Wally being ice is...I hope I don't have to explain the symbolism of that one gfddgfdfhg

-Frank is earth and rocks because the soil is where his beloved animals tend to rest and come from, also I just really like the idea of him staring at a cluster of crystals lovingly while a butterfly rests on top of it

-Poppy helps to represent and bring forth the change in the weather, and can act as the overall balancer for everyone's seasons

-Howdy can help maintain the growth of the forest surrounding the neighborhood, and he and Julie would likely spend hours talking about flora and fauna haha

-Sally is already a star, and the sun is a star! So her being the sprit of summer just makes perfect sense for her

-Meanwhile Home is. Just constantly setting fires somewhere around the neighborhood PURELY to start shit lmao

-I feel like there'd be a lot of oil lanterns or fireplaces or candles and whatnot for Home to control to show emotions through flame colors. Each lantern has a color so Home lights up a red or blue to go "I'm angry" or "I'm sad". Home can of course choose more than one lantern at a time if the emotions are more complex!

-I feel like this AU would really bring out the symbolism of Home and Wally's potential abusive relationship, especially with that overall theory going around in the fandom

-Because Home could so easily melt Wally...and that's scary

-Well ok let me rephrase that-because Wally isn't literally made of ice. It’s just more symbolic/emotional melting based. But I feel like it would be language that Winter Wally would use a lot

-Wally has to sleep in a freezer/refrigerator at night because Home is simply too warm for him to stand being in for long

-Since Wally and Home are seemingly the only ones left alive currently in the canon of Welcome Home, I like to imagine that the neighborhood would be filled with various sections and themes around each of their living spaces and houses. Flowers and spring themes around Julie’s house, a entire forest surrounding Howdy’s shop, etc. However nowadays, if you went to Weather Wonderland Welcome Home now, it would just be a entire wasteland of ice and snow. Completely barren, all except for Home, who just stays right where its always been. What happened to the other neighbors? All I know is Wally’s emotions completely overtook the neighborhood when they disappeared.

-Emotions may often influence or effect the weather all throughout the Welcome Home universe for all of the characters, but the effects can easily be reversed with the help of the other neighbors

-Each of the characters would look the same physically, except their outfits and how they style themselves are different to represent their respective power. For example, Julie may wear her usual dress, but it’s covered head to toe in flowers, along with flowers in her hair and a flower crown

-Wally can still eat with his eyes, but instead of his favorite fruit being apples it is snowberries (however he often confuses blue raspberry scents/flavors for snowberries as well. If you gave him a actual raspberry he Would Not Understand, if you gave him some sort of blue raspberry thing he would be really happy/excited, and if you gave him actual snowberries he will hold them and stare at them for a while but tries not to eat them because the wintergreen flavoring makes his eyes sting lmao) I have plans for Wally’s design/outfit already for this AU, it’s just taking me a little bit to draw out! However I still wanted to make sure I put this AU idea out there, because I really like it and would love for others to help bring this to life! Please feel free to add onto this AU by @ing me with whatever thoughts or things you choose to make with this if you want to of course! However, every artist/writer has their inspirations, and I would be delighted to try to @ the artists that helped inspire me to make this Welcome Home AU, I hope they don’t mind! okay okay i'm still thinking about s2

i love that season but but when i say i love the vibe i don't just mean the autumn, cold, gloomy, hospital, possession, UD leaking into Hawkins parts, even tho i do love them all, it's the deeper reaching theme of that season

Mike's and Will's crazy together scene is obviously important for their characters (it was literally so big it was Noah's audition dialogue for s1 lmao) but it's also a good summary of the overall mood for s2 too. because that season is the fallout of s1. they survived all of the horrors and yet they're Still haunted by them. s2 is really the season where everyone is going crazy while thinking they're alone with it

Will is getting haunted (and later possessed) by the UD while his doctors thinks he is suffering from PTSD and the anniversary effect and there is nothing to worry about

Mike is not over seeing El die, tries to contact her relentlessly and somehow picks up on her presence when she says his name in the void which he then thinks was in his head. he subsequently stops contacting her and never tells anyone he ?heard? her speak, because that wasn't real

Dustin hides keeping Dart because he thinks his friends don't understand him or his reason for caring which leads him to hide around his friends

Nancy sees Barb everywhere, and despite knowing Barb is dead she still approaches strangers who look like her, leading to her even break down in a bathroom in Barb's house, which she also never talks about (sibling moment fr)

Joyce is unable to move, on still too haunted and paranoid after losing Will, and is frustrated when she can't let go or verbalize her problem, even with a positive force like Bob actively reaching out to her and offering to walk her through it which should make it easy right?

El is sitting locked away in Hoppers cabin, being forbidden to leave and slowly going stir crazy with the addition of Hopper not keeping promises and "lying" to her. which leads her to her running off and finding out she's Actually been lied to about her birth family her whole life. then she also meets Kali who also doesn't get her which doesn't help

Hopper being confronted with the UD spreading over the town while being the only adult around who knows about it's existence. which means no one is realizing the actual danger of the spread and causes him to work alone and secretively until he eventually falls into the tunnels stretching out under the town where he becomes trapped

the motive of feeling crazy is everywhere. i could go on with the list. every character feels alone and crazy this season. Mike and Will are just the only one's actually verbalizing it to each other and finding comfort in the knowledge of not being alone

and i love the horror on the show. the Demogorgon from s1 is terrifying, the MF looks so good and eerie, etc. but i think the seasons that hit the best for me are the one's that incorporate the psychological into them. s2 felt so good because every character felt alone with their grief and experiences, everyone tries to move on as normal when in reality no one is feeling normal. but because everyone is pretending to have returned back to business as usual they're all left feeling like they are the only one left behind who can't keep up

and yeah i love the sweaters and the giant eldritch horror monster, and the fall vibes. but when i say i love s2 this is such a big part of what i'm talking about. the psychological isolation of the characters was just so 🤌✨ (the sweater weather and cold eerie fall vibes just make the isolation hit harder yk, they're like the spices on top)

#i love love love the psychological despair of characters okay #adding the unknown to the Demogorgon in s1 and mystery of what happened to Will is really what made it so scary #the isolation every character went through in s2 despite the fact that they would all be able to comfort each other if they opened up #which leads to into an Actually isolating possession? terrifying #and s4 is picking back up on that with Vecna as a villain that's literally using trauma and psychological isolation to kill people #s3 had very little of these elements. that was the fun middle point. in summer with an actual meat monster hunting them down #no components of loneliness or unknown evils like we get in the other season #i just REALLY love how ST /incorporates/ the psychological horror into their actual normal horror villains. it's really successful imo #stranger things analysis #byler

I also like knowing what to expect when I walk out the door, meaning I probably won't be bundled up in the morning just to have to shed all those layers in the afternoon. I also just like sunshine more because, even though I like a good nap, society around these parts says we do not have time for nappin'.]

[I steer more toward rock genres like rock (obvs), metal, punk, etc. It's hard for me to pick a single favorite artist and even harder to pick a favorite song, but I guess for artist I'll go with Avenged Sevenfold because, overall, they've been pretty solidly in my top favorite bands for a loooong time and their new album was pretty damn good imo. Weird and different, but that's something that appeals to me about them: they're pretty much not afraid to do what they want creatively. As for song? Uuuuuuh...Inconclusive really lmao.]

Guess who's brainrotting over the Kareedom proposal again-

(I'm writing the chapter for it in my Karamatsu journal and now I'm ascending, so please deal with me for a minute here)

...

It's just... that damn proposal is such a perfect summary of their relationship, isn't it?

Like, I kinda had that thought going into it; it overall represented that despite the hardships and piss-poor luck the universe threw at them, they still persevered, & in a way it only strengthened their love.

But like... there's so much more to it. Like, completely accidentally. I did NOT mean for any more symbolism, but it's just so perfect.

In general, their relationship defies the status-quo; they're painfully poetic and cheesy, and the things they find sentimental or deep don't always correspond with the... I don't know... stereotypical idea of it all.

Case in point, the original plan for the proposal was a classic proposing-in-the-middle-of-a-restaurant shtick; Kara thought it'd be super romantic and cute and he'd be able to show Freedom off to everybody! But that didn't work; Totty reminded him that public attention wasn't Freedom's style. So Kara had to change his plan. And really, if Karamatsu went through with it anyway, would it really have worked in his favor? Like even if Freedom was cool with being in the spotlight? Knowing his luck, a customer would've yelled at him to be quiet, or literally everybody would've ignored him when he tried to announce it. A fucking light could've fallen on him right when he was about to pop the question, and then the credits for that skit would've started rolling.

...I think you get the idea. I should be the last person giving ideas on how the universe can torment my husband BHSFAS

The important thing is that Kara didn't propose at the restuarant; he still took her there, but that wasn't where the question was proposed. You know where he did propose though? At some ordinary, sketchy bridge. By any other standard, it is just some random ass bridge, but to the couple, it was their bridge. They were chilling on this bridge during a cold, rainy day, and yet that's STILL where they had the most fun. They got to engage in their cheesy banter freely, they got to use the inconvenient weather as essentially romantic atmosphere, they got to really shine as themselves. They twisted this ordinary, dare I say negative atmosphere into their perfect romantic playground!

It's not like the two don't genuinely enjoy the normal romantic stuff, right? I mean Kara's whole shtick is him trying to be suave in some sort of a stereotypical sense, and Freedom's an artsy type so of course she appreciates the "normalized" expressions of love. But their personalities also warp the normalized expressions of love and turn it into, like, a sub-breed of it, if that makes any sense? Karamatsu's attempts at being stereotypical romantic turns into him bastardizing the stereotype, and Freedom's artsyness makes her see aspects of love/romance/romanticism in things that aren't normally associated with them, or perhaps even shouldn't be! (I mean, I think this entire post can be a slight example of that, lmao-)

...Man, I could've swore this felt more coherent in my head SAJKAGIAU

Anyways, there's also the minor aspect of subverting expectations? Mainly just with the weather, I guess. Ya know, the standard "rain is used to hint at tragedy in media" sorta shit, except that was a lie and it actually worked out! Hell, it's like a positive mirroring of Jyushi's confession to Homura.

I think I at least sort of got my point out. But oh well; I gotta get back to finishing this chapter lol.

As for crying itself... Toby's social environment during his childhood and teenage years was sadly...not so good </3. Competitiveness and overall toxic environment really affected him, and so he started to hide his emotions so he wouldn't look "weak" among his peers. He's slowly getting rid of this habit but waking up in Halcyon and seeing all that definitely fucked up all the process he had :(

Crying is something that's really hard for him to show, and to be honest I don't think that he's ever done it in front of anyone else but Klara :(

👪 FAMILY - what is their family like? what is your ocs relationship to them? does your oc have any siblings?

Tobias's dad & mother got divorced when he was six, and his mother decided to cut all ties between them, so Toby didn't really know his father until like, accidentally meeting him a few months before leaving Earth. They managed to catch up a little and I'd say they had a good relationship 🥺

As for his mother and stepfather...It's bad (tm). He comes from a place where competition was strong among the community even btwn children which already brought some pressure ino his life, but while you'd think he'd get at least some support from his family, nope. His mother and stepfather wanted a perfect child, someone who's always on the top of all kind of competitions, school tests and hobbies. And while he managed to do what they wanted, it has definitely affected his mental health AND his relationship with them.

They wanted him to become a doctor, but he hated even the idea of it. That's not what he wanted. And so, when the time came to apply to college, he instead chose the one that was as far away from home and chose the subject he loved the most - a first time he actually made his own choice instead of following his parents' wishes. They reacted strongly, disagreeing and saying that they do not want someone who didn't want to strive for the best to be part of their family, and were like, "maybe you should think about it and go to x instead." He realized that there really is no point in staying in a family that only sees him as a way to show off in front of neighbors, instead of appreciating him as he is, and left. They haven't seen each other after that.

Does he have siblings? Yes, a sister. But he doesn't know about her :(

💤 SLEEPING - do they fall asleep easily? what helps them sleep?

No 😭 He's the worst at falling asleep and it might take him an hour on average to actually fall asleep. Additionally to just not being able to fall asleep quickly, another problem is that he's so used to the way he slept back on Earth (lots of pillows, ability to open the window, Klara sleeping close to him etc etc.) it's even harder for him to fall asleep. The bed isn't comfortable (until he manages to collect more pillows better blanket) and at first he just ends up getting so exhausted that he just. falls asleep on the sofas in the kitchen. Somehow that's more comfortable?

☕️ HOT BEVERAGE - do they prefer hot or cold drinks? what is their favourite drink?

Hot drinks!! He loves hot coffee or tea <3 His favorite drink is latte with vanilla syrup :3

🍁 MAPLE LEAF - what is their favourite season? why?

Autumn!!! He loves how colorful the trees are, the rainy weather, and of course finally getting to wear sweaters.

🕷️ SPIDER - what is their biggest fear? do they have any irrational / mundane fears?

Fear or eye trauma is a big one, he's so afraid of it that he starts feeling very uncomfortable even when seeing a simple photo of it.

He's also scared of deep water. Rivers and ponds are fine, but if it's something where you can't stand and still have your head above water, he's not even stepping close to the water.

🙈 SEE-NO-EVIL - whats a side of your oc that they don't want to show other people?

Self doubt 😔 Everyone tends to see him as someone who's always confident and sure about everything he does, but that is definitely not who he is. He's always bad at decisions, tends to dwell on his mistakes and other possible outcomes, and never believes in his own skills. But why shatter everyone's image of himself by showing that side to them?

📣 MEGAPHONE - how loud are they? what do they speak like? got a voice claim?

I'd say he's definitely not loud. I don't really have a voice claim for him sadly and my brain is...bad with voices, especially describing? So not really able to answer that yet BUT I'll definitely get back to this question hehe <3

🔪 KNIFE - how do they react to injury / misfortune befalling their loved ones (significant other, family, friends)? do they put themselves at blame?

This guy will blame himself for literally anything, even if he had nothing to do with it tbh 😔 BUT since we're talking about what he'd do, I would definitely say that he would be helping them as much as he can 🥺

Hi! I got very curious so I wanted to ask: if you could design a unique idle animation for your OCs, what would some (or all if you’d like!) of your OCs’ idle animations be?

Ohh this is a fun one, thank you!!

Compiled some ideas for my main crew under the cut cos it got long lmao, but the gist of it is that June and Liam would have the biggest selection of idle animations, cos they're the most fidgety of the bunch who also get restless or bored fairly quickly.

Kala is at the other end of the spectrum cos she's practically been drilled to stay focused for long periods of time on the job.

The rest are in between, with all of them getting more restless the more time passes, but for slightly different reasons.

Neira Must feel Productive At All Times so she'll start doing just that.

Ari is more leisurely but will also use the opportunity to catch up on things he didn't have the time to do otherwise.

Lilian has no problem stopping for a bit but will get impatient and restless when idle for longer.

Addie would be similar, getting more animated the more time passes. 'Renan too but the signs would be much more subtle cos they're too broody trained to stay still when they have to. Noya would fall into some sort of repetitive motion to keep herself entertained while drifting off or observing

NEIRA:

short:

glances around, mildly alert (sequence of different directions/intensities at random) takes moment to relax limbs & catch breath

long:

[if self or party member injured] summons wisp & slowly heals party members quietly rehearses spells under her breath practices basic battle techniques (w/o weapon, only movements) [weapon varies; depending on party members present, will notice & give feedback (daggers/zev, bow/leli etc.)]

first of all,, hello <33 how have you been? and what have you been up to? <3 i hope classes and uni in general are not getting to you that much.

also the drama i told you about "doom at your service", after finishing it my opinion has changed a little, it was a nice drama overall but after the first 8, the story seemed like it was being stretched for no reason </3 i have nothing to watch these days hdksekks this time last year i had 2521 and business proposal to keep myself entertained but this year there is nothing 😭 even gose isn't here </3, did you find something interesting to watch? or read? i haven't had time and will to read hsjsksjs </3

but today i did go out of my comfort zone and watched a movie called medianeras (sidewalls), it's pretty melancholic but i liked it, ( idk why google or some reviews are saying it's funny or rom com 😭, it was actually sad and reflective but had a good ending imo) it's about how urban and internet lifestyle have had the opposite effect on people and have made them feel lonely despite having everything in one click. it was,, different. probably something what i was expecting from chunking express jshdjsjsnns

but in midst of all this i love love how booseoksoon came through 🥺 they brought back the spark hdjddj i love all the songs ( tho just like you, i love fighting and 7pm a little bit more than lunch ), it was so wholesome to see them have fun performing 😭 also youngji's feature fits so well <3 i can't stop talking about it hskdks it felt so natural <3 i haven't been this satisfied with a feature song in a long while ( same with 7pm ). if there was anything else fighting! needed it was definitely her. it made me so happy to see bss performing with her and peder <33
