i think peter parker had been trying and failing to breakdance long before the spider-bite, and is just happy to discover he finally has the upper body strength to actually pull it off now

The funny thing about Pharma and the Delphi situation is that that's where the concept of the DJD was first introduced (with the first scene with the DJD at work happening literally the issue afterwards, issue #6) and literally the more you learn about the DJD the more it vindicates Pharma in his paranoia and being convinced that he couldn't ask for help like
In the Delphi issues we learn that the DJD hunts down Decepticon turncoats/traitors/etc and that Ambulon, one of the Delphi staff, was a Decepticon traitor. We also learn that their leader is evidently terrifying in addition to being a t-cog addict, but that's it.
Except in the subsequent issue #6 and all issues with the DJD afterwards, we learn a variety of fun facts about the DJD such as
Several of the members either literally transform into torture equipment or have said torture equipment built into their bodies
Their leader, Tarn, the guy with the t-cog addiction that forced Pharma into blackmail, can kill people with just his VOICE
We later learn that the DJD have a fanatical devotion to the Decepticon cause/Megatron such that they literally worship an idol of Megatron
Even later on, we learn that Tarn's kill-you-with-his-voice powers work both over the phone and via recordings of his voice
Tarn is also very talkative during torture sessions and he seems to find pleasure in his stupid, smug-smart guy persona where he likes to describe to victims what's happening to them and why. And there's no reason he wouldn't apply this to Autobots just as much as he does to Decepticon traitors
The DJD have access to signal jamming technologies that make it so that even if their victim can get a help signal out, no one will receive it until weeks after the fact
Their entire system of hunting people down is based on pursuing them no matter what, isolating them from any help, driving them mad with psychological terror, etc
They're capable enough warriors to slaughter an entire ships' worth of people, apparently without sustaining any meaningful casualties
They're drug addicts that are prone to overdosing and/or losing control and slaughtering people while they're under the influence
So like???
If Pharma was only privy to HALF of the things that we as the audience know about the DJD, it's perfectly reasonable to assume that Pharma probably wanted to call for help at some point, but was convinced that doing so would lead to 1. the signal being jammed/blocked so no one would help anyways 2. him and everyone else at Delphi (including the TRAITOR WHO IS ONE OF THEIR EMPLOYEES) would be horribly tortured to death by fanatical Decepticon torturer freaks.
Like I get that in the text Pharma only says that he did the Red Rust stuff so that he wouldn't be caught/blamed for the t-cog deal and is prideful about how he stopped the DJD from murdering Delphi, but like...... there's no fucking way that Pharma going "oh I didn't want to get in trouble and also I'm better than everyone" was his PRIMARY reason for everything on Delphi. Pharma didn't go from perfectly normal/sane Autobot doctor to raving egotistical maniac because he was always an asshole and he decided to solve the DJD issue in an asshole way. It's bc according to all canon evidence we have of the DJD and the way they react to traitors/Autobots, Pharma had every reason to fear for his life and believe that no aid would come to him.
#not to mention that fucking uhhhh it was BLACKMAIL???#generally when BLACKMAIL happens the whole deal is 'you give me this thing and i don't kill you'#'but also if you go running for help i'll kill you'#or 'you can't call the authorities for help bc you're doing illegal things for me so theyll just arrest you'#squiggposting#pharma apologism#mfs wanna say 'pharma could've just ran or called for help' when the DJD are literally famous#for their ability to hunt people down and murder them horribly#remember when the lost light was getting hunted down by the DJD and they called for help?#remember how it took 3 weeks for anyone to get the SOS and by then everything was already over?#also it's reasonable to think that like pharma was just giving spare tcogs to tarn without having to kill anyone at first#figuring it's just extra supplies to order and it's a small price to pay for delphi not getting horribly murdered#and it was only later that he had to actually start killing people#and by then tarn could've easily hit him with 'you could run and ask for help but then they're going to ask you'#'why you were giving tcogs to a decepticon in the first place. have fun being a traitor for that'#and then there was you know. the paranoia and constant anxiety and trauma from being next door to the DJD

reading the things you post/rb while not knowing what the adventure zone is is kinda funny. I'll be scrolling my dash and see "NAH 'CAUSE BEANIEMAN GOT SO SCHLORPED WHEN THE PIANO FLAVORED STICK OF DEODERANT GOT SCAMMED" and I'm so tempted to get context, but it feels like life would be funnier without it
okay so like. the adventure zone is an actual-play ttrpg podcast (aka they record themselves playing dungeons and dragons and similar games and then edit down the recording so it's fun to listen to)
and it's kind of like 5+ different podcasts in a trenchcoat. cuz there's 5 completely separate games (well, 5 plus a couple way shorter games, but 5 main ones). and since each game is already pretty wild on its own, the fact that there are FIVE OF THEM definitely makes it sound extra bizarre to outsiders lol
there's:
1: balance: a standard fantasy world with some minor sci-fi elements. it's about heroes tracking down and neutralizing dangerous magical items and uncovering secrets about their own pasts. by far the most popular season and imo the best, but it gets off to a slow start
2: amnesty: a story about cryptids and magic in a modern day appalachian setting. been a while since i listened to this one tbh and i don't talk about it as much
3: graduation: young adults going to magic college and getting wrapped up in a demon war. this is the least popular one but not actually bad imo
4: ethersea: freelance adventurers from an undersea city exploring the world in a magical post-apocalyptic setting. my fav behind balance
5: steeplechase: like a defunctland video meets a heist movie, secret crime rings operating within a theme park. very fun, still in progress
they're released kind of like different seasons of a show, one after the other, but each "season" doesn't actually need to be listened to in order (ie you can listen to steeplechase before balance, but you'd have to start at ep 1 of steeplechase and not just skip to steeplechase ep 32 or else you'd be really confused)
honestly i've been halfway considering getting different tags for each game but i'm too lazy to change now
ANYWAY
the thing about the adventure zone is that it's a *comedy* podcast first and foremost. so most of the weird bizarre funny bits are just as funny and batshit insane even WITH context. hell, i'd say a lot of it is even MORE funny if you know what's going on.
though there is also some buckwild shit that you just get desensitized to. like one of the 3 protagonists of balance is named *taco* (but spelled taako) because it was originally just gonna be a silly one-off episode, so the player was like "haha i'm gonna be XD random and annoy my dm with this zany noun name", not knowing that there were gonna be 68 more episodes and it would eventually grow into a deeply emotionally moving story. so by the end you're fucking sobbing over this character's love and loss and you forget that "taco" is not a normal thing for an elf/wizard to be called
it's absolutely delightful

one thing I genuinely think more people should get into is opera. like I know its kinda slow and hard to understand (english speaking people I am sorry) but its so good. it's dramatic of course but it's funny too when it needs to be!! (the entire first act of la boheme) you've got people suffering, crying, killing out of jealousy and sacrificing themselves for their loved ones and then you've got people cheering to the the wonders of drinking, partying and having sex (la traviata 'libiamo', la cavalleria rusticana 'viva il vino spumeggiante'). and on top of that there are many things happening on stage between the music, the words and the acting that me personally it stimulates me enough to stay focused.

In my passion project, romcom Jihoon fanfic that I keep talking about I wrote this scene and it's really funny to me and it is important to me that someone reads this and says: "brie this is really funny" and includes something kind of personal about the little tid bit and I will not be posting any story ever again until someone says that AND ITS GOT TO SEEM ORGANIC. And no context because my genius amazing writing ability needs no context at all okay here it is:
“Oh!” You looked up from the ipad you were coloring on, realizing that the bell to the coffee shop had dinged a while ago. You gave a smile to the girl that had walked in as you closed your ipad. You glanced over your shoulder, grateful that Wonwoo was in the back so he wouldn’t have noticed that you were too distracted by your ipad to notice customers…
Just like he said you would be when he specifically told you not to play with your ipad on the clock. You looked back at the person who had just come in, trying to see if you could place her.
“Is… Wonwoo here…?” The girl asked, looking over your shoulder past you. You pouted your lips slightly, gesturing towards the back. She glanced that way. “So you’re…?”
You could tell in her eyes that she recognized you. You smiled brightly and pointed at your name tag, telling her your name as if you genuinely believed she didn’t know it.
“I just started working here.”
“What?!” She blurted suddenly. You let your head fall to the side innocently.
“What?” You asked her back. As she stared at you, Wonwoo peaked through the back curtain.
“Y/n, what are you doing?” He asked with a sigh, as if you were causing a huge scene of some sort. You turned to him with an expression of anger mixed with shock- one that the girl wouldn’t be able to see. He rolled his eyes at you, and looked at the girl at the counter.
“Let me guess, y/n can’t even ring you up a cup of coffee,” he commented. He stopped next to you. “12oz iced latte with maple and almond milk.”
He stood next to you, not moving to touch the register. The smile that you had sported just for show in front of this girl grew into one that was real.
Wonwoo still couldn’t use the register. Even though it was inarguably easier to use than that stupid piece of junk he had before. You chirpily rang the drink into the register.
“Maple coffee,” you said conversationally. “That sounds-”
Wonwoo shoved a coffee cup in front of you as Dayoung curiously tapped her debit card to the card reader.
“I didn’t hire you to talk, I hired you to make coffee.”
You wanted to make Wonwoo look bad so you let a flash of hurt and confusion cross through your eyes, and then you glanced at the girl, as if you just remembered that she was there and could see the two of you and pretended to force a smile.
“I make amazing coffee,” you stated. As you walked over to the coffee machine, you heard Wonwoo get hit in the chest, and you smiled in satisfaction. Your plan had worked, because of course it had.
“Wonwoo is that-”

i have to wonder if maybe knuckles not having as much screentime as he should in the series is due to budget or time constraints. like im not sure if they had more or less money to work with that the movies did but either way animation is very expensive and time consuming especially the particular style theyre going for here so i feel like its possible there just wasnt room in the budget and/or schedule to give knuckles more focus. which would suck if it was true because idk why they would wanna make a knuckles series if they cant afford to actually make knuckles be the main character
