H– hear me out. Found family.
but it's Rose and Jed and the Corinthian is the cool uncle who pops by and takes Jed to eat ice-cream and amusement parks and just accidentally leaves the thing that Rose happens to be needing that week around. Oh, a sandwich and... candy? Oh, nice the hole in the wall is repaired. Oh a new fridge. Why is there a jar of eyes–
And then discussions happen "yea kid gotta do what it takes to survive. I know how it is when parents ain't around."
Rose stresses out for her law school exams so the Corinthian asks her questions on the material. He thinks it's all bullshit because
"No problem that can't be solved with murder or sex."
It actually really puts things in perspective for Rose. Just maybe there are worse things in the universe than potentially failing law exams (she won't).
"You're so perfect all the time kiddo, gotta unwind a little." And The Corinthian just takes her and Jed to the places he's been to he thinks are the coolest.
He shows Jed his collection of portraits of people who have the most perfect teeth.
"Do you have to brush yours? Eye-teeth I mean? Cause I hate brushing my teeth couldn't imagine doing it three times."
"Jed–" Rose tries to interrupt. But Jed has questions.
"Do you have three oesophagi ? I learned the word oesophagus in biology today."
Increasingly bothered Corinthian rakes hand through his hair. "Uh–"
What was he thinking.
"Can you laugh with them? Are they connected or can you use them like independent one from the other. How can you even ACTUALLY SEE"
"I DON'T KNOW AIGHT– ask Morpheus."
Rose is not a vortex anymore but these kids attract trouble, petty criminals, flaming sofas on wheels, and malevolent entities like the Corinthian has never seen.
Rose doesn't know of course.
The Corinthian always gets to them first.
Once Dream visits and Rose almost calls him granddad.

apart from there being a void underneath ghostface’s mask a cool art motif, it could actually have a bigger meaning if it were true in the larger dbd lore

Things I actually LIKE about Kahmunrah Rises Again:
-that bit where Jed and Oct scream like little girls. It is genuinely hilarious and makes me laugh every time
-the "that way- no this way" "but you said THAT way" joke with Laa and Nick. Although if this were live action, that'd go on for another minute and a half with improv
-"Fire bad.." "I know ze feeling 😧"
-Larry and Erica talking to each other trying to figure out what's best for Nick. One thing Night at the Museum knows how to do is let it's characters talk things out in a generally healthy manner (Insert Jed very openly saying, "I don't like it.. it hurts my feelings 🙁" when asked how he feels being called tiny)
-"Of course you guys have done great things- that's why you're in a museum" or however that line goes.
-McPhee is the most faithfully adapted between live action and animation and it's wonderful BAHAHAHJSHA
-also "Mother is my pet name for my hot supermodel girlfriend". SIR IS THAT A MOMMY JOKE
-Jed and Oct are generally the best parts of the movie in my opinion (no I'm not biased). Though Octavius is kinda way more bitchy for some reason and Jed is just "🙂 I'm a silly cowboy, yeehaw".
-Kahmunrah being generally a little more unhinged. I like to think that after hearing that cool ass, "I'm the night guard" quip from Larry before being shoved in the underworld, Kah was like, "That was actually a little cool, I need to think of a bunch of one liners that I can say when I come back to life."
-Teddy is fucking awesome . He's clearly different from live action Teddy and Robin Williams portrayal (Rest in Peace), but it's super fun and entertaining.
-Seth telling Kah he has Daddy Issues
-The animation in the restaurant scene with Larry and Nick. It's so good.
Overall, I think the beginning /first half of the movie is much better than the second half. I'm still upset Night at the MUSEUM 4 spends half it's time not in an actual museum with other exhibits 💀💀 Biggest plunder of the movie.

7 movies 7 tags!!!
I got tagged by @toadstool32 hi tiny! When I first saw this I was thinking Wow i have Never seen a movie in my life but I've had several hours to marinate and I've dug up some memories
The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T (1953) - This is the most recent movie I watched, it does show its age in like. The casual racism in the supporting cast but otherwise it was very charming and very fun.
Super Mario Bros. (1993) - I unironically love this movie it's so fun I want to play in this space I want to explore this worlddddddd. Also they destroy the twin towers
Promare (2019) - That shit was SO HYPE and very stupid but it knows what it is and it is so fun as a result. Embrace it! Also fun fact for about a year before I actually watched it I somehow thought both Lio AND Galo were girls. I think he/him lesbians Lio and Galo would rule actually just make sure not to change anything else about them
Watership Down (1978) - I love bunny war. As far as animals fiction goes this is really up there it's top notch stuff. I actually did go back and read the book after watching it the first time and I love it a lot
The Thing (1982) - I watched it for Bakura reasons you have to understand the Bakura thought process yourself though. Also for Jed the Best Dog. I liked it! I'm glad to have watched it. I cannot watch it again.
Joshua and the Promised Land (2003) - So if you want to see a movie based on a biblical story. Don't watch this one. Genuine props to the guy for making this thing almost entirely on his own but idk maybe watch veggie tales or something
Fly Me to the Saitama (2019) - This thing is so fucking funny but I think the bulk of the humor is completely un-localizable idk the entire premise is a whole bunch of petty interprefecture drama played up for laughs. Also I didn't know it had yaoi when I watched it blind with my mom. SHE knew it was yaoi. Can you give me a heads up so I don't have to play the "IS MY PARENT COOL WITH THIS" roulette
I don't think the original intent of the tag game included "write a small review / personal fun fact for each movie" but here we are I'm gonna tag uhhh
@raptorcivilization , @xerxestexastoast , @seases , @skuitti , @enigmadoodles , @beanist , ahhh fuck all the sudden I don't know who anyone is I'm tagging *PBS Voice* Viewers Like You!

night at the museum: Kamunrah rises again review
-i was binging the hell out of the night at the museum franchise (I chose to start with Smithsonian museum arc (2) then i’ll end with one). I watched the fourth movie and have many thoughts, as someone who loves this franchise to bits. (If you dont see mentions of the first movie its bc i havent seen it yet from my movie marathon)
1. The timeline is hella off im so confused about it. Nick is in highschool but NATM3 he was going to college?? Laa is there so it can’t be post NATM 2. If it was post NATM3 the best solution to this problem is having the adventure set IN THE UK???
2. I honestly am confused why kamunrah was revived again such a strange character to bring back i mean he was already dead before why bring him back?? (He was so iconic in the 2nd movie. Has funny bits in the fourth but third act bore me sorry) I genuinely wish there was a different bad guy instead
3. Infact i genuinely wish they had a small series for post NATM3 arc wherein its about the British museum rather than our main cast. Theres so much room and potential to introduce interesting historical figures too! Heck even make some of the animal statues talk that would be interesting (i doubt thats possible even with the tablet but shush) (is this an excuse to bring back rebel wilson to be the night guard-maybe Jdjfjsjdk/lh)
4. I love Octavius design he is not ugly to me at all infact he looks amazing in the movie! I love his face and his hair they look good. (I question why Jed is ginger and clean shaven, hes better off looking scruffy and scrappy looking) SIDE NOTE I LOVE THEM ADOPTING A CAT IT WAS MEANT TO BE !! (Their dynamic was off but them being clingy asf to each other made things less unberable)
5. Sacagewea and Joan of arc be lookin fruity in that one scene I see yall HDDJSJ, cute momment too. I love their respective character designs they are very fun plus Sacagewea is more plot relevant for once im glad for that:’D. Ik Joan of Arc wasnt there for the previous movies but my only answer to that plothole is shes also a new exhibit that was installed before NATM4. Or she could be in the British museum AKA AN EXCUSE TO HAVE JOAN AND LANCELOT TO INTERACT BRO THAT WOULD BE COOL
6.i love these movies but NATM4’s final fight scene wasn’t as impactful as the others. No.2 was so fucking good at their fight scenes the characters battling it out with a good amount for both sides, theres different spotlights for the characters even if its one second. The third movie it was more of a chase scene ft. LION STATUES BEING BIG CATS GAHHH<33 and Lancelot identity crisis poor man. This fourth one felt like a fight you see in every cartoon or show, just felt not as creative? Except when Nick destroyed the bird soldiers eye with arrows that was cool.
7. WHY DOES DEXTER NOT LOOK LIKE A CAPUCHIN??? He looks like a generic orange or brown ish monkey. I looked up how they look like irl and they tend to have multi colored fur so his design rlly confused the hell out of me. I genuinely love capuchins bc of dexter and able (choosing them over chimpanze’s just saying)
8.Lightning round bc I RAN OUT OF SPACE: Mia looks cool (wish she was used more in the story), Akmunrah not being there is so saddening, Nick and the bi sticker ™, Fun call back to the subway scene very cute, I love the oil painting joke its corny and useful to the chase, OFFENDED THERES NO BIG ANIMAL IN THE MAM MUSEUM EXCUSE??😭😭 theres always a big boy in there wdym (Rexy, Octopus, Trixie),Comic convention joke was my fave its such a cute moment
Heres some photos yey!! ok im done i spoke too much on this-did not expect such passion over it!!

A/N: Aha this is my first little-- anything and it's because I'm kind of nervous about my writing 🥸 I wanted to share some headcannons and then maybe I'll share some stories that I've written. (Like a Jed x reader leatherface 2017 I'm working on lmao. It is purely self indulgent.) This is a little dumb part au part probably true thing because I'm a whore for this man(Lester) and I wanted to share. I included some other slashers tho, so don't worry 😎👍
Meeting and getting in a relationship with the slashers in highschool/when you were younger:
Lester Sinclair:
He would have been the weird awkward kid. That's rowdy and friends with everyone, but not exactly popular.
He LOVES finding bugs and small animals that wander into the school parkinglot.
If you decide to befriend him he'll be kind of awkward and nervous at first. Most people only befriend him to talk to Bo
If you turn out to be pretty cool then he will hang out with you everyday. He doesn't have many friends to hang out with after school.
Be prepared for him to get you guys in trouble for flipping off the sports bus while they drive by since Bos in there.
Bo most definitely will tease you guys. If he doesn't know Lester's into you, he will hit on you. The moment he gets the hint that Lester's interested in you he'll back off. He isn't about to ruin his little brother's chance.
Lester might give you one of his hats if you steal them/show an interest in them. I wholeheartedly believe this man owns more hats than shirts.
He would let you help him in school if you're good at a subject he struggles in. Specifically English.
He doesn't understand grammar or punctuation, okay?
He winds up just asking you to tutor him so the two of you have more time to hang out.
10/10 would use studying as an excuse to cuddle or kiss you if the two of you are already dating
Oh, and if you show an interest in his truck but have never driven one? Well, Mr. Man here will teach ya!
"Ya wanna try and drive 'er? I's a manual, but i's easy, don' worry, darlin', I'll help ya."
Will be very happy if you do go out with him
Also will spoil you with gifts and truck rides 😏
He will make you stuff out of animal bones and pieces of wood. Even showing you how to carve stuff so can do it
If you gift him anything he will be so happy and keep it in his truck, always.
His favorite thing to do with you is probably watching the sunset with you from the back of his truck. Or just exploring the woods with you. Especially if you help him find animal bones or deer antlers!
Bo Sinclair:
You two met either through sports or a class he struggled in.
If you met in sports he probably bullied you a bit. If you took it well, he might get meaner, but only because he's interested. If you get genuinely upset-- well, he probably won't stop until you snap.
He would challenge you, CONSTANTLY
Only smirking when you claimed you knew what you were doing and told him off
If you met in class he would be asking you for help.
Tutoring soon turning into genuine hanging out
He would continue to ask for help even if he understood.
He would maybe even invite you to help work on his truck. Which is the best offer this man can give you. Since I believe he is a TruckGuyTM
Is probably more of a truck geek than Lester, especially since he wants to kind of be a mechanic
If anyone that isn't his brothers so much as looks at you or shows an interest in you. Even before you're dating, he'll make it his point to chase them off.
He would probably just assume you two were dating with how much you were hanging out.
He'd probably kiss you in his truck after a joy ride
"What was that for?" "Oh, I thought we were.. well, you seemed like you liked me."
You'd have to just giggle or kiss him again or he might actually get a bit nervous and not talk to you for a while
Vincent Sinclair:
Art class is where you guys would probably meet!
Even if you don't care for the class, he would be your reason for showing up
He would offer to help you when you struggled. Doing his best to communicate through notes
If you know sign language it would make his heart swell in his chest
You would probably have to invite him to hang out
He would be ecstatic. Making it a point to try and make the hang out fun
He would prefer it be out of public, though.
He would remember you forever, his brothers too. You're the nicest person ever
Vincent would take you to his room when he trusted you enough.
Showing you all of his paintings and drawings.
He would step out of his comfort zone by asking if he could draw you, a nervous look in his eyes
If you disagree he would understand, but if you agree? Oh, he would love that.
He would cherish the moment. Offering you the photo unless you told him to keep it. Then he would Frame it.
You would probably have to make the first mood with him. He's too insecure 😔
He would be all smiles if you asked him out. Being very affectionate toward you after, even if it was small.
He would appreciate that you didn't care if the school found out you were a thing, because you cared for each other, and that's all that matters to the both of you.
RZ Michael Myers:
If you knew this kid before he got sent to Smiths Grove, and you were actually nice to him? Watch out, because he'll remember you forever.
He would 100% ask you to go trick or treating with him!
It is his favorite holiday after all, plus one of the few times he can get out of the house!
You don't have a costume? Well, be prepared for Michael to help you make or find you a cheap(but cool) one.
Will share his candy with you as long as you share yours.
If you give him your candy corn he'll love you forever.
The moment he leaves for Smiths Grave he'll always remember you.
Making it a point to ask his mum how you are.
Making his entire year if her and your parents let you tag along to go and see the boy.
If you bring him a gift that's pocket size, it'll always be on him. No matter what. It's a reminder to him that he has a friend there for him, always.
If you still live there after he breaks out, even if you haven't visited him for a long while because it's forbidden. He will find you.
Don't worry though, he means no harm! Towards you at least.
Thomas Hewitt:
Since Thomas was probably homeschooled you would have had to met him either through Luda May, or Drayton. More than likely it was Luda.
She probably knew your mother, and they shared pies
You mother would bring you over to the Hewitt house to play with Tommy, since he didn't have many friends.
It always made Luda oh so happy to see you two getting along.
You always made ger little Tommy so happy. So you and your mother were welcome whenever.
You and Tommy wound up being friends even as you two got older.
When he would go to the store to help his mama you would make visits. Bringing them both something to eat. Often times offering the two help.
Tommy always quickly agreed to the help. Even if they weren't doing anything right then.
Even when he started working at the factory you two still saw each other constantly. Bringing him food and cute little notes for lunch.
He saved each and every one of those notes, too. Rereading them when he felt upset or alone.
When another boy around your guys age started hitting on you at the factory he'd get really upset over it.
You would have to assure him that you didn't care about them, that you only saw them as friendly/a friend. Nothing more.
If you wind up telling him you like him? Oh boy, be prepared for a huge bear hug and to be showered with nothing but love from this big brute.
Luda would 100% support you two and allow you to move in with the family <3
Charles Lee Ray:
This fool had to have been in trouble a lot in highschool. Or something.
You probably would have had to approach him first, offering your hand in friendship. Which he pretended to not accept, but slowly did.
He would be mad aggressive at first. Sarcasm being his love language. You'd just have to get used to it.
When he starts using pet names you know you're warming up to him. Especially when he does it in front of others. Whether it be to fluster or annoy you. He doesn't care.
He would invite himself over to your house.
Doesn't matter if you're studying. He needs attentionTM
If you get comfortable enough he'd lean against you and read while you read in bed. Allowing you to play with your hair, after a small protest.
He absolutely soaks up your affection. He loves it so much.
Will be jealous as hell if anyone else so much as calls you pretty.
Would accidentally say he likes you even though he claims you're not his type.
"What I can't get a boyfriend?" "No, because you're mine." "You said I wasn't your type?" "Fuck, well you are, happy?"
If you say no he will pout about it forever and never forget it </3
If you accept his half-ass offer to be your boyfriend he will be happier than a kid on Christmas. Even if he doesn't show it
"This mean I can kiss ya?" "If you want." "If I want? Ha, Doll, I've only dreamt of it since the day I saw ya."
Otis Driftwood:
Kind of unclear how your family met the Fireflies. They just sort of did, and looked out for one another in this small, lame ass town
You would go over to hang out with Otis, occasionally staying with him to watch his younger siblings when the family was off galavanting.
He enjoyed you, you two were practically inseparable. You helped him feel normal in this fucked up world. Like he was sane, and his family didn't kill people.
He would let you stay in his room. You two sharing the same bed. You wouldn't exactly cuddle, since you respected one another's space. Having your backs to one another while you slept.
It wasn't until he was around 22 when he asked you out.
You were both drunk at a bar and like Charles, he accidentally did it when another guy started hitting on you.
"Hey now mister, I'm not digging your lines, you're too cheesy," you would tell the stranger with an eye roll, but he'd persist.
"Oh c'mon doll face, gimme a chance," "hey there, dipshit, I'm the only one allowed to call them names, now get out of their business before I get up in yours." He'd tell them while pointing a knife towards the stranger.
"What, is this your boyfriend?" "Maybe I am, she'd be a lot happier with me than your good for nothin' rat-ass-" "damn right I would"
He'd feel like he was hearing stuff. Nearly sobering up as he looked towards you. The man scampering off now that Otis was distracted.
He would ask you to repeat yourself, half smiling when you did.
"Fuck, don't mess with me like that."
It'd take a lot to convince him you weren't. You've been friends since he could remember, why would you of all things like him back. Someone who comforted him. Someone who listened to his rambles and conspiracies, and even joined in on them. Someone so perfect.
So you leaned in and kissed him. Nearly dropping his knife when you did so.
When you pull back he has the biggest shit eating grin on his face.
"Now sweetheart, why couldn't you have said so sooner?"
Bubba Sawyer:
Like Thomas and Otis, the two of you met through family. You being brought over to play with the Sawyer boy way before highschool was even in the picture.
He never spoke much, which you didn't mind. As long as he was nice to you, you were nice back.
And oh boy, he was the nicest kid you ever met. Nothing like the kids at school that made fun of you at all!
He would take you to all the cool places around the farm. Even letting you pet and hold his chickens
You loved every bit of it. Running around like wild animals, unless the Texas heat was too bad. Then you stayed in while his Mama makes the two of you sweet tea or lemonade
As the two of you get older your bond only grows.
His brothers start teasing him. Which causes you both to feel a bit awkward, but you only shrug it off.
He hates to admit it, but he does have a huge crush on you.
You're the only person who's ever been nice to him, of course he likes you! Everything about you is perfect!
But alas, he's too insecure to ask. You would have to bring it up. But do it without scaring him too bad.
He would probably cry teats of joy if you confessed your feeling. You'd have to hug him to calm him down for sure.
This man would already be planning your future together, doesn't matter if you're 15 or 25 when the two of you get together.
Drayton Sawyer(2017):
Drayton would have had to meet you either through his family, or if you were a new neighbor.
If you were a new neighbor he would have seen you as a sort of threat to his family. Even if he hadn't met you yet.
He would be nice though, for his mama's sake. Plus, well, you were around his age.
He was around the ripe age of 17, when he felt emotions that had him out of control. Along with yourself.
He would like you the moment he met you. Especially if you got along with his brothers.
And if you could handle the twins? Oh boy, you're coming over more to help him watch them. Well, maybe for a bit. Until Drayton attempts to get to know you in his awkward way.
He never really went to school, having to take care of his family more than focusing on education. Though, he does yearn for you.
You would let him watch you do homework. Answering questions he had as he read along with you and watched you figure out the problems.
He'd let you help him with chores, too. Especially if your family doesn't have any animals.
"You ev'r milk'd a cow?" He would ask, and if you say no. Well he'd show you how.
He'd kneel slightly behind where you sit. Placing his hands over the backs of yours while you gripped the udder.
This would probably be the closest he'd ever gotten to you. Besides when he laid beside you while he read your homework over.
He'd wind up resting his chin on your shoulder. Eyes going from watching your hands to your face. Smiling contently.
"You sure you've nev'r done this?"
He would praise you, and if you struggled? Well he'd just laugh and take over from there. It can be a tiring process.
He'd love being able to show you how to work on vehicles. Able to crowd your space, stand behind you, whisper in your ear.
If it made you uncomfortable he'd stop in a heart beat, but if not. He'd keep doing it. Especially if it got a reaction out of you.
He'd take you to the middle of the field late at night to lay down and watch the stars. Admiring you greatly if you could show him different constellations. Even if he knew the ones you were pointing out.
He'd attempt to flirt with you one night, when you were both alone in the field, but honestly struggle at it. Not so much with what he had to say, but keeping his cool. He would be a ne
"You're as uhm.. pretty as that there uh, star," he'd point up and you'd giggle. Which would make his heart flutter.
"Which one?" "Well, all of them. Actually uh- none of them are as uh.. pretty as you."
If you flirt back Draytons heart would explode and he'd have a big dopey grin on his face.
If you act flustered, too, it might even boost his confidence a bit
"There's a shootin' star! Make a wish Drayt'n!" "Wish you were mine," "what?"
He'd repeat yourself in a nervous mutter, and by golly. You better act positively about his confession or you'd break this poor boy.
When you say yes he wouldn't kiss you, or really try anything. He'd just smile like an idiot and hold you or just your hand while you both kept watching the stars. Either would make his night.

i finished true colors and i’m having a lot of thoughts that i NEED to talk about.
(if this is gonna be long idk, i apologize for your eyeballs)
Tumblr media
1. i honestly didn’t like alex at all when i saw the trailer, i was thinking “hmm idk about this one” but as soon as i started to play the game i fell so in love with her, she is so freaking smart and funny, she genuinely cares about the people around her and her story it’s very different from the other characters from LIS anthology. i truly enjoyed seeing alex’s development throughout the game especially her realizing that her powers can actually help the people around her and not harm anyone, the way she controls it after her conversation with gabe was such an awesome upgrade from the alex who was so ashamed of her power to alex superwoman. i liked how the game explored her emotions and her mind about the past, the mine part where alex was struggling to feel everything she felt in those days and then embracing everything was one of my favorite parts. it shows a lot of growth.
Tumblr media
2. this game has AMAZING CHARACTERS, every single one of the characters was well written, they had life, they had problems, they had their own emotions with private stuff that was going on in their lives and you could actually talk to them and meet their “layers”. mac for an example was an asshole but i couldn’t pretend i didn’t felt his concern and fear around typhon, the way he was terrified about everyone hating him, he was scared for his life and being very paranoid, i was concerned about him and the game giving you the choice to speak to him or leaving him was a tricking decision cause you could leave him alone suffering or try to help him out, maybe saving his life and this is a lot but he’s alive. the game makes him real and that’s what makes me INSANE about the characters. i know, i’m talking about a game where you’re supposed to feel the characters’ feelings but that could possibly go wrong as well if the characters were shallow and poorly explored and that’s not the case with true colors. they had purpose.
Tumblr media
3. alex’s power it’s probably my favorite power. the choices in this game was way harder than the first two games, the craziest thing is you can choose if you want to take someone else’s feeling so they can stop feeling that way, saving them from themselves making alex suffer instead and that's selfish. don’t get me wrong, i’m not calling alex a selfish person but taking someone else’s feeling doesn’t make anything better, you’re taking their right to heal, to be alive and that is so fucking awesome. you have this power to help someone, to “take their pain away” and you will learn that people need to feel what they are supposed to feel so they can move forward cause if we don’t, we are never going to learn. we see that charlotte is pretty angry about gabe’s death, she blames everyone but mostly ethan, she is miserable. alex can choose between taking charlotte’s anger or leave her. if alex takes charlotte’s anger, charlotte is left completely empty, she doesn’t feel anything and when i say anything it’s anything. she is left emotionless and bitter, she doesn’t pass through her way of mourning for gabe and she doesn’t have alex’s back when alex confronts jed. if alex leave charlotte to her anger we have a nice moment between them on the festival, talking about what happened and charlotte gets alex’s back on the black lantern and that’s what i mean from being selfish, if we take someone else’s feelings we are being unfair to them, we are choosing for them and people are supposed to feel, heal in their own time or overcome. by taking charlotte’s anger we deprived her from healing, we are not helping her, we are just making an natural process even more difficult and slower. alex being able to hear what someone is thinking and enter that person’s world from what they are feeling at that moment it’s the best detail for me, everything changes, we get to see the world through that person’s eyes, we can understand them but we decide what to do with that, we can be selfish or actually help. of course, we can take pike’s situation for an example also, if we take his fear we can help him overcome typhon and we get to expose jed but pike’s fear was necessary to take and charlotte was not necessary, pike at least had the pendrive with the recorded calls on it so we had a chance for things to get better.
Tumblr media
4. chapter 5 was an amazing ending. finding out the truth about typhon, jed was never a hero, alex confronting her past, the confrontation and seeing who was going to be on your side, alex’s final conversation with gabe and the end, it was better than i thought it could be. i truly loved seeing alex’s past, even with everything that went down she turned to be a good person who wanted to be loved (her passion for music being the thing that helped her connected to me in a lot of levels, that creep cover though i screamed so hard when she started to sing). the mine part was absolutely insane not just alex surviving that fall discovering that gabe was looking for his dad for so long, jed knowing it and all of this time his dad actually died because of jed, alex finding the truth by taking her mom’s necklace back from what was left of that accident it’s so heartbreaking, the confrontation was crazy, i thought no one was going to believe alex because jed was so loved by everyone there it would be so easy to doubt alex and just be on jed’s side which was what ryan did but it’s understandable, jed was his dad, his hero. alex’s speech on jed exposing him after everything was one of the best monologues on that game and man this game had AMAZING dialogues and monologues, everything felt so real and beautiful, the best part of it it’s to forgive jed that’s where alex break him, he regrets everything even more cause when we find out the truth. we find out why jed never enjoyed talking about being the hero of haven springs. at the end jed wasn’t entirely a bad person cause when we forgive him he gives back alex her dad’s jacket talking about how he wanted to give it to gabe but couldn’t, that’s something that made me love even more the characters even jed that was the “villain”, which i don’t think he is. what he did was terrible and he knew that, he tried to pretend nothing happened when alex started to talk but at the end he broke, that always haunted him and that’s the difference between him and jefferson who was actually the villain in life is strange he wasn’t forced to do those things, he killed rachel, he killed chloe, he manipulated nathan, he was going to kill max and if max didn't stopped him on the arcadia bay ending he would kill even more students at blackwell.
Tumblr media
5. alex and steph relationship was the purest thing on this game, it was smooth, it was organic, it wasn’t something out of the blue, steph liked alex since the beginning. the plan to pick someone to flirt with diane and get her pendrive i chose ryan and afterwards steph started to feel something, she was so upset that alex used to think ryan was “hotter than her” (i only chose ryan cause i didn’t want to see steph flirting with diane but i saw the scene where we pick steph and omg i should’ve chosen steph cause that scene it’s hilarious), steph was happier around alex, every time she had an opportunity to flirt with alex she took it. seeing their love grow through the chapters was beautiful, i know we can choose ryan over steph but i don’t believe ryan liked alex the way steph did, you can literally see that no matter what alex did steph was going to support her and look at her with so much love and respect and that’s why i think alex and steph’s relationship it’s so pure and right. also they looked so good playing together it’s so cute that they have the same passion for music and THAT LARP SCENE FOR GOD’S SAKE MY HEART MELTED!
Tumblr media
6. this part is exclusively to talk about LARP and the fight scenes, it reminded me so much of final fantasy it was so COOL, well thought and so fun. it was awesome to see everyone taking care of ethan and doing their best to make him happy.
Tumblr media
7. talking about ethan, this game opened a conversation in my head about charlotte and ethan, i started to think a lot about what charlotte said about ethan how she felt happier when gabe was around and now she was stuck with only ethan again, it made me think that maybe charlotte didn’t want to have a child or if she didn’t had ethan she could have gabe again. that could open a conversation about women who didn’t want to become a mom but it doesn’t mean that charlotte would hurt ethan which makes total sense to decide to leave her alone and not take her anger, she would never hurt ethan. it was again another tricking decision cause we get concerned about ethan when charlotte starts to talk but we know deep down she cares so much about her son, she does everything for him.
Tumblr media
life is strange true colors became my favorite life is strange, the story it’s different and great, it’s literally finding the truth about everything, when we understand people’s feelings we discover the truth about them and situations, we understand everything. this game actually made me cry harder and think so much even more than the first one and boy i love the first one so badly. it talks a lot about empathy and how we react to people’s emotions, your choices in this game are way harder than messing with time or moving things with your mind, it’s choices about things that could happen in real life eventually and that is what makes this game so important to me, it’s real.
and also it's the first life is strange to have happy endings like.. ok big steps for my non depression finally

life is strange true colours review
the non spoilery part: i LOVED this game, my personal fave game this year and the first franchise entry since the original that has really resonated with or moved me.
it's a life is strange game through and through, so if you don't like slice of life episodes or bonding with NPCs, it's not gonna be for you. but if you like the franchise, or even if you liked the first game but haven't been interested in/liked the other two instalments, i recommend giving this one a chance. i think it got closer to figuring out the formula while still doing something new and interesting.
more detailed spoilers and opinions:
alex
holy shit i love alex? bisexual chad... my darling... i'm gonna be real, a lot of the trailers and promo for this game made me worried she'd be kind of a dull wallflower Soft Girl character, but she's not! she's so funny, and even parts of her characterization i initially thought were maybe a bit of a stretch ended up making sense as i learned more about her. she stole the show. i straight up forgot how much loving the protag helps enjoyment of these kinds of games lmao ... finally a reason to click on everything in the room: to hear what alex will say about it.
i thought her backstory exploration in ep 5 especially was wonderful and emotive and great. broke my heart and explained so much about her :( baby girl
plot/choices
i loved the mystery. i don't think it was quite as Mysterious as the mystery in lis1, but that was okay, i was still invested in solving it. i also got invested enough in the NPCs around the town to make all the exploration bits really fun. i loved eavesdropping on the sagas of the random NPCs like bald man and ice cream couple... just fun little touches and narratives to follow that i enjoyed.
i really appreciated this script not being afraid to shy away from some messier emotions, even if in some cases i wish we spent more time on them. for example: alex feeling a bit jealous of the other people in town that got to know gabe better than her/spend more time with him than she did. or charlotte hating ethan!!! my jaw dropped, i thought that was so good, what a messy but realistic response.
I'm not entirely sure what all the ramifications of different choices are at this point, fresh off my first play. i ended up getting only part of the council to stand with me (eleanor & duckie) while losing pike and charlotte.
i do wish we saw a bit more fallout or exploration of what taking away emotion DOES. i took charlotte's anger, and obviously it meant she didn't stand up for me in the council meeting, but where does she go from there? does she like... ever return to feeling emotions lmao... I also think we probably should've had the opportunity to do that another time, instead of just 2 isolated events -- I think Diane would've been a good candidate.
the romance
i romanced steph, ofc, but i was surprised during the game how drawn i was to ryan too -- i really liked that Drama of him being the one who cut Gabe free, as well as later the drama of him being Jed's son. UNTIL HE DIDN'T BELIEVE ME... that made me mad lmfao, i have to learn what to do to make him believe me before i play a Ryan route bc i'll kill him lmfao.
the steph/alex romance was sweet... it didn't really, like, Consume Me as a ship, but by the end of the game I was still "aww"ing at their moments in the flashforward. steph was more rounded and flawed than i thought she might be, which i really appreciated! i was worried they'd just make her perfect idealized gf, but she has a bit of a temper and is kind of tempestuous and stuff... liked it. loved her standing up for alex so fiercely and immediately at the council meeting <3 and my main reservation about her in ep 4 was that i wanted alex to stay in haven, so when she offered to stay i was thrilled LOL
one semi-complaint i had was that something i loved so much about lis1 was how max and chloe's relationship was central to the entire game and story, it wasn't some extra thing on the side, it WAS the game... whereas here, the romance routes, especially steph's, felt like sidequests. I wish they'd found a way to incorporate those relationships a bit more into the main goings-on. I also wanted to spend more time with either romance option to feel like I knew them better -- splitting the time between Steph and Ryan means that I came away feeling like I didn't get quite as much of either of them as I would've liked, vs spending almost the entire game with Chloe lol.
however, this ended up not really bothering me too much because I DID really like the core mystery and themes, the exploration of grief and Emotion, etc.
other characters
considering everyone knew going into the game that gabe was going to die, i was impressed with how they did it, and how they managed to get me attached to gabe in a mere single episode. it's a tall order to introduce a character designed to die, who your audience KNOWS is going to die, and still make them work.
i thought this supporting cast was ... maybe the strongest in the franchise? or at least, they created scenarios where i felt invested in multiple people in the town, and was genuinely trying to build decent relationships with most of them. duckie cracked me tf up, i liked eleanor and riley, even diane and jeb were good for their roles. (fuck pike. i signed ur stupid thing and left your emotions alone and you still won't do shit? ACAB!!!) the choice to stay in haven or leave was a little harder than i expected honestly, considering how quickly i let arcadia bay burn to the ground lmfao.
gameplay/etc
also i know the whole internet has been dunking on "empathy" as a super power since the game was announced, and i get that it sounds corny and looks corny in the trailers, but i thought how they did it was really cool. i wish they'd branded it "Mindreading" more than empathy tbh because a lot of the cooler elements of it are more along those lines... using her power to manipulate people, potentially taking people's emotions away and what that does to them... very interesting imo!
i really liked the memory feature!!! cool way to give us character exposition and inform the story while encouraging exploration. finally a collectible that like, expands the story, instead of chloe drawing butts on the wall and sean taking 10 years to draw something.
it's definitely the most evolved-feeling LIS game, which it should be, given it's the newest. graphics looked really nice, loved getting to see the characters actually emote, even if there are still some scenes that were a lil comically blank-faced -- usually NPCs. i actually noticed this with Jed the most, which in retrospect maybe was somewhat intentional?
i had a number of visual glitches, nothing major but a little silly, like T-posing Alex, npcs t-posing in the windows, etc. i'm sure they'll get patched out soon.
anyway... i rly liked this game, i'm excited for the steph dlc and finally feel like i have reason to be optimistic about future LIS instalments. hooray!

So...honestly? I’m not mad Hope’s switch flipped. For someone who has so much unresolved trauma and an overflowing amount of grief, having to kill her boyfriend after spending so much time trying to get him back/save the people she loves? Yea, that switch was gonna flip at some point. All those emotions...
Now...switch!flipped Elena in TVD was...well...I personally didn’t enjoy it that much? There were aspects I did like objectively but...I really hope they handle switch!flipped Hope in a better way that purposefully addresses all the trauma, which is probably why Rebekah’s coming back.
I’m curious to see how this is gonna go!

Oh my god I absolutely love your writing! 😭💞 also the fact that you love Dwight too is bonus points!! Could i possibly request Dwight, Quentin and Jed(GhostFace) with a clown s/o? Like they never take anything seriously and they're always cracking jokes? Thanks!
you?? love my writing?? homie i loVE YOURS IT’s 10/10 FIGHT ME you’RE SO COOL!!! and of course i love dwight are you mad he’S PERF E C T! i main him honestly he’s my boy
Dwight Fairfield
- There’s a time and place for jokes, and you never seem to understand that trials are not one of them. Sure, most of what you say/do is pretty hilarious, but now is not the time! He nervously asks you to please, please focus when you’re in a trial because he’s scared that you’re going to be hurt while distracted with your jokes. He manages to keep a straight face when the situation is dangerous so he doesn’t egg you on.
- Sometimes you say something just... That just hits him and he can’t stop himself. You have to put your hand on his mouth because he’s wheezing at some really dumb joke you’ve just told him. It’s probably something that isn’t even funny, and the fact that it’s that that makes him fall off the rails in hilarious.
- When the situation is less life threatening, he’s more than happy to watch you clown around. He finds it entertaining, and he’s glad you’re so carefree that you can just do that. Makes him feel more at ease for sure.
Quentin Smith
- You really make him feel at ease during the trials. He’s tense and worried and focused on surviving, but then you go and say or do something completely dumb and he just has to take a second. “Quentin look,” and when he does, you’re dead ass making some dumb pose on the generator and he can’t help but smile. “Y/N, we’re supposed to be fixing this,” he says, smiling.
- Do you have no fear? Why are you not taking this trial seriously? He actually saw you square up to Freddy once and ask what oven setting he prefers for his face. Freddy didn’t quite enjoy the joke, but Quentin giggled. And that’s what matters.
- Please stop making him laugh when he’s trying to be quiet, it’s gotten him into a lot of scrapes. Nothing will ever be more embarrassing than the one time he laughed so hard he cried and genuinely really confused the killer, who happened to be the Doctor. Quentin, sobbing as he laughs. Doctor, nervously giggling. You, in tears, watching the scene unfold before you. Neither of you escaped that trial, but it was still hilarious.
Ghostface | Danny/Jed
- I mean, he can’t really take anything seriously either. You’re cracking jokes together.
- The two of you can get pretty noisy and rambunctious together, much to the dismay of, well, everyone else. You’re always trying to outdo each other.
- There’s nothing better than lazy afternoons we’re you’re sprawled on his lap, lazily talking about dumb things that nobody cares about. Asking strange questions. “Danny, would you rather be attacked by a ten duck sized horses, or one horse sized duck?” “Do I have a knife with me at the time?” “No, just your bare hands.” “I’m not entirely sure I can fend off a horse sized duck.” “It’s a good thing I’m not dating you for your duck fighting skills, then.”
- You, a survivor, doing finger guns at him. Him, from where he’s stalking you, doing finger guns right back. Another survivor, squinting at the two of you, concerned.

Every Upcoming Blumhouse New Horror Movie For 2021 and Beyond
https://ift.tt/2Jkmo81
In just over a decade Blumhouse Productions has gone from a very smart agile indie to possibly the most significant horror production company out there. It’s slate is huge, it most quickly and cheaply, trusts in its creators and favours originality and genuine scares. Though the pandemic has meant certain release dates have had to move, or not as yet locked in, it’s clear the Blumhouse juggernaut is showing no signs of slowing. It has several film in production, with release dates set for 2021 and even more movies in various states of development.
We’ve rounded up the latest on all of Blumhouse’s upcoming horror movies. Note: we have not included TV, we haven’t included anything which is clearly not a horror and the projects which have been in development hell for many years are summarised briefly at the end. We’ll keep this updated so pop back for all your Blumhouse needs.
Image from 2013’s The Purge
The Forever Purge
Release date: 9 July 2021
This fifth installment of the The Purge franchise will reportedly be the last with creator and writer James DeMonaco promising a ‘really cool’ end to the series. This movie was originally scheduled for a summer 2020 release – filming wrapped in February 2020 – but dates inevitably shifted and now it’s aiming for Summer 2021. While DeMonaco wrote the script, the movie is directed by Everardo Gout who’s best known for his work on National Geographic series Mars. The movie stars Ana de la Reguera and Tenoch Huerta with Josh Lucas and Will Patton.
Welcome to the Blumhouse (second batch)
Release date: 2021 tbc
This imprint which launched in October and streams on Amazon Prime will get another four installments in 2021. The series once again aims to give a platform to upcoming and underrepresented voices. The movies are:
Madres
A pregnant Mexican-American woman and her husband move to a migrant community in California where she starts to experience strange visions and phenomena. Is it the legendary curse? Or is something more sinister going on? This is a first feature from Ryan Zaragoza and stars Tenoch Huerta (The Forever Purge) Ariana Guerra, Evelyn Gonzalez, Kerry Cahill, and Elpidia Carrillo.
The Manor
Residents of a nursing home are haunted by supernatural forces in this film from Soulmate director Axelle Carolyn. Barbara Hershey stars as a woman who’s recently moved into the home following a stroke who suspects malevolent beings are at prey and needs to convince everyone around her she doesn’t belong there at all in order to escape.
Black as Night
Teenage misfits battle vampires who are attacking New Orleans’ disenfranchised in this feature from Maritte Lee Go which sounds like it might appeal to a young female demographic as well as the usual Blumhouse fans. It stars Asjha Cooper, Fabrizio Guido, Craig Tate, Keith David, Mason Beauchamp, Abbie Gayle and Frankie Smith.
Bingo
Set among an eldery community in the Barrio of Oak Springs, Bingo sees a stubborn group of friends lead by the matriarchal Lupita who keeps them together a family, face their toughest threat yet when they discover their Bingo hall is to be sold to a powerful force. Gigi Saul Guerrero, who directed an episode of The Purge TV show and also a segment of Blum’s Into The Dark horror series takes the helm.
Halloween Kills
Release date: October 15 2021
Originally planned for October 2020, this follow up to David Gordon Green’s 2018 Halloween reboot (which was a direct sequel to John Carpenter’s 1978 Halloween) will now arrive in October 2021 to carry on the saga of Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) and her family in their ongoing battle with Michael Myers. The previous installment was a smart addition to the franchise dealing with themes of PTSD in the wake of what Laurie experienced as a teen so we have high hopes for this. Blum has said the movie will be “Huge” and “Intense” and will feature returning legacy characters from the original.
Halloween Ends
Release date: October 14 2022
The third part of the reboot trilogy is planned for 2022 and will bring to a close this part of the saga. Ahead of the release of Halloween Kills it’s difficult to predict which direction part three will take us in but if IMDb is to be believed Laurie, her daughter Karen (Judy Greer) and Granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) will be in a final showdown with The Shape.
Paranormal Activity 7 (as yet untitled)
Release date: 2022 TBC
Announced back in 2019, Blumhouse is supposedly planning a seventh installment to the found footage franchise, with Oren Peli the creator of the original Paranormal Activity attached to write. No plot details have been released yet and it’s possible the unexpected events of 2020 have affected plans for this. The latest in the franchise – 2015 Paranormal Activity: Ghost Dimension is the least profitable of the series but still grossed $79M worldwide from a budget of $10M.
Vengeance
Release date: 2021
This is the directorial debut of actor and comedian BJ Novak (who was one of the writers on the US version of The Office, where he also played Ryan Howard), which follows a radio host from New York (also played by Novak) who travels down South in an attempt to solve the murder of his girlfriend and discover what happened to her. The movie co stars Logan’s Boyd Holbrook as well as Ashton Kutcher and Issa Rae. The production began in March 2020 but was put on hold due to COVID19, but has started back up again and Blum says they’ve almost finished shooting what he describes as “a cool, offbeat movie”.
Five Nights At Freddy’s
Status: Pre-production
Currently in pre-production is this adaptation based on the popular horror video game franchise where a night security worker at a restaurant called Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza is terrorised by sentient and murderous animatronic characters who come alive after dark. The movie was originally optioned by Warner Bros with Gil Keenan to direct but is now with Blumhouse under Chris Columbus. Despite delays, Blum is confident this is still very much on the cards telling Inverse “”It’s still active. We haven’t quite figured it out, but we’re getting closer every day.” The videogame franchise featured several sequels and spin offs so if Blum and Columbus can make this a hit there’s every possibility for multiple sequels.
Wolfman
Status: Pre-production
After the massive success of The Invisible Man, long time Blumhouse collaborator Leigh Whannell has signed on to tackle another classic Universal monster with the Wolfman. This is one of the strangest but most exciting titles on Blumhouse’s slate with Ryan Gosling attacked to star as a man who is cursed after being bitten by a werewolf. Gosling is a massive talent, Oscar nominated twice, who is selective with his projects so we can only imagine the script must be something special.
Mother Nature
Status: Pre-Production
Announced back in May Mother Nature marks the directorial debut of Jamie Lee Curtis herself. An eco-horror co-written by Curtis and Russell Goldman who’s head of development at Curtis’ company Comet Pictures, this is the first film in a three year first look deal Comet Pictures has with Blumhouse. Details are scant but it looks like this will be themed around climate change. “I’m 61 and my motto now is: ‘If not now, when, if not me, who?’” Curtis told EW. Well quite.
Untitled John Ridley Paranormal Thriller
Status: Pre-production
Novelist, screenwriter and director John Ridley is set to write and direct this chiller based on this article entitled ‘Project Poltergeist’ which tells the true story of a young boy who is purported terrified by supernatural occurrences in a public housing project in the 1960s. “This is an incredible true-life narrative of a young man dealing with horrors – both paranormal and racially systemic — in a community that is scarred by hate, yet ultimately brought together by hope,” said Ridley, speaking to TheWrap. “I really appreciate Blumhouse’s commitment to telling stories that seek to entertain audiences even as it challenges them.”
Patrick Wilson in Insidious
Insidious 5
Status: Pitch
It’s been ten years since the very scary first installment of Insidious, one of the franchises that really helped put Blumhouse productions on the map, and the series shows no sign of disappearing into the Further just yet. A fifth film is apparently on the cards with star Patrick Wilson set to direct. The film will focus on the Lambert family ten years on as son Dalton prepares to go to college. “We’ve had a lot of luck with first-time directors who are actors, even Jordan Peele (Get Out) or Joel Edgerton on The Gift,” Blum told Den of Geek.
Caroline Ward in Host
Untitled Rob Savage project
Status: Pre-production
Sure the defining horror movie of 2020 has to be Host, a low budget indie written, shot and released in just 12 weeks during lockdown, a Zoom horror which perfectly captured the zeitgeist. After rave reviews, Savage and his team, screenwriters Gemma Hurley and Jed Shepherd and producer Douglas Cox signed with Blumhouse for a three picture deal. In typical quick and dirty style they’ve already begun work on the first of these features, which will reportedly be scarier and more ambitious than Host. Definitely one to watch.
Untitled Dracula project
Status: Treatment
Announced back in March, Jennifer’s Body and The Invitation director Karyn Kusama is attached to another Universal Monster project – a new adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Kusama told the Kingcast podcast that it would be a fairly faithful adaptation which will lean into the idea of multiple voices and points of view to tell the story, and perhaps present a slightly different version of the Count himself. “I would just say in some respect this is gonna be an adaptation called Dracula but it’s perhaps not the same kind of romantic hero that we’ve seen in past adaptations of Dracula,” said Kusama.
Untitled The Thing Remake/Untitled John Carpenter/Blumhouse Project
Status: Pitch
January of 2020 saw rumours that Blumhouse was working on a new iteration of The Thing, based on the (relatively) recently unearthed longer version of the story the movie is based on Who Goes There?, by John W. Campbell Jr. – the longer version is called Frozen Hell. Though there are two separate entries on IMDb for this project they are clearly the same ‘Thing’ – the ‘Untitled John Carpenter/Blumhouse Project’ suggest the Halloween 2018 director David Gordon Green maybe attached.
Firestarter
Status: Script
This new adaptation of the Stephen King novel has been kicking about since 2010 but there has been some movement recently. Zac Efron has been cast in an as yet undisclosed role and Blum has promised a “faithful” adaptation. At one point Akiva Goldsman was attached to direct, then later Fatih Akin but as things currently stand The Vigil director Keith Thomas is the frame to re-tell this story about a young girl with the telekinetic power to set things on fire. There was a previous adap of this story released in 1984 starring Drew Barrymore and directed by Mark L. Lester, with a miniseries Firestarter: Rekindled broadcast on the sci-fi channel in 2002, so this sits within remake territory.
Untitled Elizabeth Moss Project

This is a proposed adaptation of Virginia Feito’s novel, Mrs. March, with Moss producing and set to star. The novel will be published in 2021 and has been likened to Shirley Jackson. According to the synopsis it follows an upper Eastside housewife “who unravels when she begins to suspect the detestable protagonist of her husband’s latest bestselling novel is based on her”. Moss’s Love and Squalor productions with partner with Blumhouse on the project

special - sam x reader
The familiar noise of wailing children and babies made your ears ring and your nose wrinkle up in annoyance. Every single damn day, some parent would drag their screaming child inside the convenience store, trying to bribe it to be quiet with candy. Every hour was monotonous and dragged out until the bell rang, signalling the end of your shift. If you could, you would leave this dead-end job and explore the world, but that was a cliche wish and one you were slowly giving up on."Uh, excuse me?" A male voice interrupted your thoughts, and you snapped out of your daze, looking up to find an extremely tall man in a blue plaid shirt stood in front of you. He was scratching the back of his head in what you expected was annoyance. "I'm sorry, what can I do for you, sir?" You chirruped in your oh so fake 'happy to help' tone. "I wanted to ask you a few questions about Jed? I'm his cousin who's come from Atlanta to visit him, and he's been acting strange recently... Do you have any idea why that could be?" The man's voice and his soft features made your brain turn to mush, and it took you a few seconds to respond, mentally scolding yourself. "Uh, sure thing. Look, my shift ends in five minutes. I'll answer your questions then if that's okay?" you gave him a genuine smile, your tone returning to normal. This guy was obviously smart enough not to fall for the charming voice you had to put on for other customers. Plus he was kind of cute... "Alright, thanks, er Y/N is it?" you nodded in conformation as he looked at your name badge. Five minutes later, you heard the bell, and mentally fist punched the air as you walked towards the back room, stripping off your work clothes and putting on some jeans and a tank top. You ambled towards the radio, which was blaring out 'Wanted Dead or Alive' by Bon Jovi. You turned up the volume and began dancing along, singing each word relatively in tune. When the chorus started you spun around at the sound of someone joining in with your singing, it was the guy from earlier. You didn't know what else to do but grin sheepishly as you both stopped singing at the same time, the grin still plastered on your face. "I'm sorry I just really like this song." You gasped, letting out a small, breathy laugh, scratching the back of your head nervously. The man nodded, a smile creeping onto his face, "I didn't mean to disturb you, I'm Sam by the way.""S'ok, really." You shrugged casually, walking over to two empty overturned fruit crates and gesturing for him to sit. "What do you wanna know about Jed?" You sat opposite him, trying hard not to keep staring at his lips and keep cool, but damn it was hard. The first half of your conversation was all about Jed and his overly weird habits. Still, as you became more comfortable around Sam, you both began to drift off-topic, telling him about your wish to travel and he in return telling you about his brother, Dean. You weren't sure how long you had been sat there, but when Sam finally stood up and stretched his arms above his head, exclaiming how he should really get going, you nearly pulled him back down and begged him to stay. Being able to talk to someone so openly had done wonders for your confidence. Thankfully you had at least some self-control and nodded, leading him out of the room out to the back yard. You sketched a wave as he began to walk away, shouting back over his shoulder a hasty goodbye. "See ya around Y/N." "Bye, Sam." You leant against the brick wall, watching him walk away, groaning in frustration that you hadn't had the guts to get his number or even a last name. The next few days were relatively normal, apart from the apparent increase in robberies in your area that kept everyone on their toes. You also kept seeing Sam everywhere you went, the library, the little cafe on the corner and even at the park. When you saw him walking outside the store where you worked, you decided to confront him. It was getting kind of creepy. "Are you stalking me or something?" He jumped, spinning on his heels to face you, his cheeks brushed with pink. "No. No, of course not... Just a coincidence." He trailed off, obviously hiding something. "C'mon Sam. I've seen you literally everywhere-" you never got to finish your rant, he was staring straight ahead, past you. Suddenly Sam pulled you down onto the floor, yelling "Duck!" You were about to struggle out of his grasp when you heard a gunshot and a bullet fly past your head. Adrenaline rushed through your system, and you reached for his hand, which intertwined with yours tightly. "Round the back." You whispered, hardly able to speak from pure shock. He pulled you up and pushed you in front of him, murmuring that it was okay and that he had your back. His hand still gripped tightly in yours, you crept round the back of the store, gulping large breaths of air into your lungs trying to stop the oncoming panic attack you could feel rising within you.Once you had snuck into the back room and barricaded the door, you and Sam turned to face each other, his hand snaking to your waist, then he pulled you to him into a warm embrace, holding the back of your head and stroking your hair slowly. "I was trying to protect you." Sam murmured into your neck, making you look up in surprise, nodding for him to continue. "Well... It's hard to explain, but Jed has gone all 'psycho' on us, and I knew he would try and come after you, and the store. Thing is I don't know why..." You buried your head in his chest, letting out a small sob, the serious reality of the situation sinking in. It appeared your coworker had it out for you in the worst way. Sam began to draw lazy circles on your back with his finger, murmuring words of comfort into your ear until your breathing slowed and your sobs gradually ceased. "I'm not going to let you get hurt okay Y/N? Trust me. Hang on, I think I better call Dean." He pulled his arms away from your waist and reached into his pocket, pulling out his phone, he walked across the room, put it to his ear, and began talking. His words were all a blur to you, and you couldn't work out what he was saying, so you sunk onto the floor, head cradled in your hands. A few seconds later, you felt a hand on your knee, and you looked up to see Sam's face inches from yours, "Alright?" You just nodded numbly in response, "I'm going to take you somewhere safe, but I'm sorry you can't go home just yet, that's exactly where Jed would expect you to go... It would be too easy." "Why me? I'm nothing special..." "Don't say that Y/N. Of course you are. You will be safe with me, I promise.“ Sam looked down at his phone as a text flashed up on the screen, “Dean is outside waiting for us, are you ready to go?"
You didn't reply, not even a nod or shake of the head, this was all too much. All you could do was look at the man in front of you, wondering how this had happened so fast. Somehow, when you felt Sam's soft lips press against yours, you reciprocated almost immediately, your lips melting together. He pulled away after several seconds, you bit down on your lip to stop a whine of disapproval at the loss of his mouth on yours.
"Ready?"
You smiled softly, a blush staining your cheeks, trusting the man knelt before you and his kind words absolutely. "I guess so."

Black Cat Annual #1 Thoughts
Tumblr media
Not what I was expecting or hoping for.
Maybe less interesting than what I (and I suspect most people) were expecting or hoping for.
But...a really fun time nevertheless.
I must confess to having yet to read Black Cat #6, so maybe I’m wrong in saying what I’m about to say but...this is without doubt the best story from this whole series!
Let me get the minor negatives out of the way first.
The most significant of those is that I was hoping/expecting an AU story or a dream or something like that that’d show us a kind of what if scenario. In fact, whilst the solicits didn’t say that, I think the hype surrounding the issue kind of wanted readers to think that.
And I’ll be honest, that idea is a lot more compelling than the actual plot, which is essentially a heist in which Felicia and Spider-Man have to feign marriage to one another.
This leads me to my other negative, Felicia’s dress in the story isn’t reflective of the cover, and indeed in my highly unqualified opinion, isn’t as good as the one on the cover either.
That’s not really a fair critique given the whole cover is a lie and obvious sales gimmick. But hey...it worked so what do I know. The dress is something you could imagine Felicia actually wearing as it’s her wedding dress version of her actual costume, whilst it wouldn’t make sense for her to wear something like that in the actual story.
One other tiny nitpick is the reference to the Spec #300 backup story which I hated and also I don’t think really fits into established continuity.
Now my gripes are out of the way...this issue was actually really great!
As I said, maybe the premise promised us would’ve been better but the story itself is good. And considering the inclusion of Spider-Man, the extra pages and quality of the story it’s also worth the extra dollar cover price too.
Whilst reading the story I was ready to criticise the fact that Spider-Man is complicit in a crime and just legally married Felicia to do it, let alone that he was letting her run free in spite of her returning to her criminal ways, which was a major issue I had back in BND.
But to MacKay’s credit, he crossed the Is and dotted the Ts (that’s how that goes right).
The story actually happens BEFORE Black Cat #1, so the last Spidey checked Felicia was on a redemption tour or had reformed in Hunted.
Whether it’s because the Maggia’s ceremony isn’t legally binding because they’re the Maggia or because Peter and Felicia were pretending to be other people (or just cos they didn’t sign anything) MacKay made a point of emphasising the pair were only ‘sorta’ married.
Finally, by making the plot revolve around helping out a criminal Romeo and Juliet of sorts it justifies Spider-Man’s involvement. And in case that alone didn’t justify things enough, McKay made sure that Spidey knew that they were stealing from criminals and that the money would go to charity. He even made sure Spidey didn’t remember Korpse and Bruno (from ASM #194, Felicia’s debut) and that he felt sufficiently guilty for bending the law as he did.
I was so ready to pick that aspect apart but hats off to Jed MacKay he knew how to play things.
And it wasn’t just out of consideration of Spider-Man either. This is how their relationship often played out in the golden age of Felicia’s character in the 2000s. She was a morally grey Robin Hood type whom Spider-Man turned a blind eye to because of their friendship and helped ‘bend the law’ because he trusted that she was doing it for the greater good. It’s a magnificent return to that dynamic.
But what makes this story unique is that it’s Felicia’s story, not Peter’s and thus we get some insights into her head and MacKay does right by her. She’s fun, flirty, a thrillseeker, has genuine affection and a protectivness over ‘her Spider’ and puts her heart in the right place, even if it’s through the wrong methods.
I loved the fact that she did still keep a million dollars for herself without Spider-Man’s knowledge!
I love that he didn’t quite know she had crooks working with them and they were committing other crimes to pull off the heist.
Speaking of those crooks, MacKay did nice work with them too. Bruno’s insights into how people misjudge him didn’t do much to develop his character, but it was a lovely nugget that fleshed him out and even made me (and other readers) question our own presumptions of him. Korpse, the henchman with the most personality, was even better than usual and his own assessments of himself and Felicia also fleshed him out a little bit. These aren’t deep characters, but they’re fun and served well here.
Having the gang divided into three teams was also a smart decision as it allowed for a little variety in the annual and gave each protagonist a small story of their own. Which is actually a really cool way to make use of the extra pages in your typical annual, rather than simply plug a backstory in there. Similarly it more organically allowed for the use of multiple artists, all of whom were decent-great. In fact Vazquez was on fire, why can’t he be the artist on the regular book!
In fact I hate to say it, but why can’t the regular book be like this all the time? I don’t mean feature Spider-Man or have multiple artists. I mean I’d infinitely rather see Felicia bending the law for the greater good by ripping off other crooks (and skimming a little off the top for herself) than just being a regular thief like she is in the main title.
One final point, I already talked about how well Peter and Felicia’s relationship was depicted here, but I must also point out MJ gets a reference in here and again, it all harkens back to the good old days during the early-mid 2000s when Peter and MJ were together, Felicia was their friend and ally but there was that underlying romantic tension, that Felicia really did love Peter and Peter had much affection for her but they weren’t going to go there.
What annoys me is that this and the Venom Annual from last year (which coincidentally also featured Felicia) are so good and yet the ASM 2018 annual(s) and the Spider-Ham annual from this year sucked hard. Once upon a time both the regular books and the annuals could be good. In fact the annuals were an excuse to do something a little different and special, which is what this and the Venom annual from 2018 were. Shit, the original ASM Annual from the 1960s is one of my favourite Spider-Man.
Overall would I recommend this? HELL YES. Pick it up!

Tessa my dear, I'm always happy to see you and Ud or Khione or Lou Ellen or Flori pop up on my dash. You radiate such light and kindness to everyone you interact with and it's such a wonderful presence especially when real life can seem so dreary or unpleasant. You're supportive of everyone you write with, never have an unkind thing to say about anyone, that that is truly an amazing quality to have. I hope you are able to rest your tooth and the pain goes away relatively soon so you can ring in the new year pain free!
tell me one (1) last thing before 2021 ends // @cursedbcrn
aaaah thank you so much for this, ace, ilysm! <3 your kind words mean a lot to me! i was originally gonna hold onto it but i figured i might as well respond to it now! ;D consider this me uno reverse carding you lmao because i'm gonna take this opportunity to talk and gush about you and your portrayal of hope, too!
really, i have king to thank for introducing you to me, i think (king, if you're reading this by any chance, tyvm and ilu too!) but once we were introduced to each other, i just found it really easy to talk to you. you care so, so much for every character you write - whether it's hope, with or without her humanity or jed or raf - and it shows.
one of your wanted plots for jed is basically the reason why floribeth exists at all and i never forgot that. (and, also, sidenote: thank you so so much for indulging me with all the florijed / jedibeth stuff ;P i love them so very much!)
and then there's hope. you just write her in a way that is so beautiful: you write her positive qualities, and her negative qualities with equal fervor and you don't shy away from who she is as a person: a tribrid, yes, but capable of as much good as bad. and it's all so compelling! (pun not intended! :P) i very much enjoy reading the nh threads you've got going on, as well as your metas!
and you, yourself, are just an absolute delight. from being :/ at the tv industry with me to :D at the same ships we ship, from drabbles to questions to plotting and everything else: you're just so lovely and i think you're just so cool and i genuinely hope we can talk and write more in 2022 on either or all of my muses! :D

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI REVIEW
Tumblr media
Two years ago, Disney launched a new Star Wars saga after their purchase of LucasFilm, with JJ Abrams at the head. The Force Awakens burst onto the scene in 2015, introducing us to new characters, reacquainted us with old ones, thrusted us into a new conflict in the wake of the Empire’s destruction, and spectacularly recaptured the magic of Star Wars to many fans and critics alike. Now, with Rian Johnson (Breaking Bad, Looper) taking up the writing and directing responsibilities, Star Wars: The Last Jedi pushes new boundaries for the universe, and is nothing like any Star Wars we’ve ever seen before, and there’s good and bad in that.
WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD
PERFORMANCES / CHARACTERS
Our cast of new and old returns in The Last Jedi; and they all, universally, put on impeccable performances. Daisy Ridley returns as our promised light-side Force user and puts on her best performance in this one and proves that she can be powerhouse actor. Adam Driver reprises his role of Kylo Ren, our troubled dark side Force user. Driver is amazing in this role, taking all that he learned from TFA and improved in every aspect. John Boyega as Finn puts on a strong show in some areas, but can be unremarkable in others. The writing behind Finn felt a little lackluster in some key spots, mostly in the second act. Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron is brought down to ground level in The Last Jedi. He feels like a real character here, Oscar showing his wonderful range often through the film. Mark Hamill gives us something to awe at in his performance of the legendary Luke Skywalker. Hamill perhaps plays his best performance in the role, wonderfully showing Luke’s age and his conflict. And of course we have the late Carrie Fischer returning as our space princess, Leia Organa. Carrie puts on a great show as her final performance in the iconic role, I did have a flurry of emotions seeing her on screen. Tackling Leia with the passing of Carrie Fischer is a tall order for the next installment, but Leia’s role in this movie was really well done. I only wish we saw more of her. However, Leia’s show of her Force capabilities was a wonderful sequence.
Aside from everyone’s strong performances, the writing team seemed to have the intent to focus on smaller, intimate pieces of each character. Rian Johnson does a great job empathizing with most of the cast. Putting these characters’ flaws on full display and challenging them. While the more intimate character writing should be commended, there are some instances where the writing, the direction, for some characters feels rushed, or some not genuine. Perhaps the most controversial characterization was that of Hamill’s old Luke Skywalker. Luke has always been a symbol of hope in Star Wars lore, so to see him as cold and resentful as he is here, is odd. I will say that I commend Rian for wanting to take the character into new territory, however this Luke doesn’t resemble the Luke we’ve all come to know. Not that that’s a bad thing, it’s just his progression into this state doesn’t seem to be believable. Luke always saw the light, even in his long-since corrupted father, Darth Vader, and eventually turned him back to the light; so why could he not do the same with Ben Solo (Kylo Ren)? Perhaps the weight of being a mentor factored into his guilt? Some key catalysts behind Luke’s new characterization remain unknown, locked away. I understand the “I blame myself for the rise of Kylo Ren and the death of my new order of Jedi” aspect, but Luke never struck me as a person who’d give up and exile himself. Or even to go as far as cutting himself off from The Force entirely. It seemed so out of character for him, and Rian didn’t quite justify this choice for him enough for me to get fully behind it. I can understand it, appreciate it to a degree, but I’m not fully sold on it unfortunately. But I will say, upon seeing the film twice, Luke’s final sequence, his death, is a wonderful send off for him. Finally being at peace with himself, saving The Resistance, but also in pain after exerting himself so much, he releases himself unto The Force, much like his previous mentors, Yoda and Obi-Wan. Also like his masters, I’m sure we’ll see more of Luke in a Force ghost state.
Another bold character choice in The Last Jedi is the fate of Supreme Leader Snoke (played by the versatile Andy Serkis). Now this is a personal anecdote but, I wasn’t a fan of Snoke to begin with. I realize there is a lot of intrigue behind him and JJ Abrams certainly set him up to potentially be the big bad guy, but that’s unoriginal in the scope of Star Wars. Snoke was on the fast track to being The Emperor 2.0, no matter how much we could’ve learned about him, where he came from, why he’s so powerful, etc. Rian Johnson making the choice to end him here was the best choice for this saga to continue into new territory. Now Kylo Ren takes up the mantle as a main antagonist, but he’s not fully antagonizing. He’s a dynamic character, a villain who is very conflicted in what he’s doing, and that’s a game changer for Star Wars. We’ve all come to know these stoic, single-minded villains (Vader, The Emperor, Grievous, Dooku) who all just exude evil. Finally we get Kylo who is established from the beginning as a troubled individual constantly conflicted with the path he’s on. He feels the most human. This makes for a more dynamic and powerful pay off in the final film. Although, as much as I approve of this change in course direction, Snoke’s death did feel anti-climactic. If we weren’t going to learn of him more in this movie (we could still in Episode 9), we needed to at least see his power on full display. Sure, he is given more to do and shows off some of his true capabilities, but we needed to see more of him in order for his death to be earned. He could’ve still died at the hands of Kylo while impressing us with his power. I was a little disappointed to see this “oblivious” stunt we’ve really already seen with Emperor Palpatine.
Now, on the smaller scale, the treatment of an intriguing new supporting character, Captain Phasma (portrayed by Gwendoline Christie), is continuously disappointing. Phasma has a cool image with that chrome armor, but also as a female Stormtrooper leader. But instead of her ushering in a new type of Stormtrooper, we get a lackluster demise. Essentially written off in The Force Awakens, Rian Johnson had the opportunity to save this character, but instead chooses to let her die. Phasma has become a Boba Fett level let down in this new saga.
Each character is given the opportunity to show their more intimate, personal colors in The Last Jedi. Rey, most notably, grapples with her self-worth, her potential, and her lineage. Much of which she comes to terms with on her own, showing her off as an independent, strong character. She continues to own her strong female protagonist role, which is important. One very significant aspect to her character is tackled in The Last Jed: her parents. Another Rian Johnson course correction choice. Rey’s lineage is nothing. Her parents are nobodies, just drinkers and gamblers who sold her off for money. I think this speaks volumes about Rey. Star Wars has always had strong themes of family, lineage, destiny, and the like, but finally we have a character that comes from nowhere, from nobody, and continuously proves herself to be important. We already have a strong role with Kylo Ren dictated by his familial lineage to the Skywalkers. Why would we need two characters like that? Why does she need to be anybody? Tied to Obi-Wan, or Snoke? That would’ve been a weak character choice, because suddenly her power, her strength, isn’t about her at all, it’s about who she came from. Rian Johnson’s move to make her “a nobody” is powerful, and makes Rey far more impressive.
WRITING / DIRECTION
The Last Jedi is a visual marvel, let me start off by saying that. When the action gets going, the movie shines, it soars above a lot of the competition. There are several sequences that are unlike anything we’ve seen in Star Wars before. In many ways, The Last Jedi could be seen as the best film of the whole series yet. The CGI is top notch, and with some amazing set pieces, brilliant cinematography, wonderful performances, and that genius John William’s score, The Last Jedi is a gem in many ways. But there are also a few things that hold the film back from the gold star, gold standard of Star Wars. First of which is its dramatic action. The film starts out wonderfully. It’s exciting, tense, and engaging. But as the second act begins, the lengthier chunk of the film, the movie comes to a screeching halt. The pacing of the film stops in its tracks. We’re taken to three different areas, following our main trio (Rey, Finn, and Poe), but what we experience them doing can feel very unengaging. Rey’s experience with Luke can feel very trivial at times, although it’s the most interesting of arcs in the film. Our interest in Rey’s Jedi future is what keeps us engaged, even when she’s just following Luke around while he fishes and milks some aliens for blue milk (I’m still not sure how I feel about that). Rey carries much of the film through this mid-lull, especially with her chemistry with Adam Driver through their Force connection.
Poe Dameron’s position in the film is supposed to work in the audience’s favor, as he is impatient and eager to make a stand against the First Order, while Vice Admiral Holdo (played by Laura Dern) has plans to play the long game. There are a few reasons why this arc didn’t work too well, but the main reason to scrutiny I have is Holdo. Holdo plays her cards close to her chest very needlessly. While The Resistance is being chased by the First Order (in the slowest space chase EVER), she decides to fly just out of range of the First Order’s cannons for no reason given (until towards the end). She’s immediately unlikable. Poe stages a mutiny against her, and not even that gets Holdo to just share her plan. A lot of what comes into fruition within this plot line is completely undone and rendered useless later on as well. Plus, if Holdo shared her plan, we could’ve avoided the whole Finn and Rose casino sabbatical, side quest all together.
Finn and a new character, Rose (played by Kelly Marie Tran), go off ship to find someone else who can get them onto the First Order’s lead ship, that’s been tracking them through light speed, undetected. The premise of this plot line is weak. It takes us completely out of the main issue at hand. And to add more hurt to the out of place quest, it’s not even an interesting sequence. Any time they cut to Finn and Rose on this separate planet looking for some guy, I felt my soul roll its eyes. Sure Benicio Del Toro is in this part, but his character was a plot device, and a weak one at that. This whole sequence just needed some stakes to it rather than diverting our attention to a completely unrelated area. I was never really compelled with this side quest, it’s the real culprit of why the film seemingly halted. The one good bit that this part of the movie gave us is the introduction to some young, slave kids who seem like they’re going to usher in a new era of Force users/Resistance fighters. Are these kids going to be a part of the saga that Rian Johnson is heading up after this trilogy comes to a close? At least there was that little bit of intrigue.
Something I did want to touch on with The Last Jedi is Rian Johnson’s creative direction with the saga and how it’s in stark contrast to what JJ Abrams seemingly laid out in The Force Awakens. I’m not upset that this movie for taking liberties with some things, as I have stated earlier, but I want this saga to get on some stable ground. Say what you will about the prequel saga, but they were all distinctly under George Lucas’ vision and there’s no disputing that. They may not be the best individual films, but they all felt intrinsically connected to the universe set up in the original trilogy. From The Force Awakens to The Last Jedi, however, it feels like the creative differences between Abrams and Johnson are in direct contrast. This leads the saga to feel a bit shaky. Especially when you consider all the plot points and themes that were set up in TFA and almost abandoned in TLJ. Again, there’s Snoke’s part and Rey’s parents, but also Kylo’s obsession with following in Vader’s footsteps (I did find this to be a positive course change though, kill the past), and the Knights of Ren seem to have faded out into obscurity (however there is room for them to make an appearance in Episode 9). JJ does have his work cut out for him for Episode 9, however I feel like Rian Johnson’s moves in The Last Jedi will force JJ to brave new narrative avenues in the next installment. Much of the reluctance from the fan base on JJ’s return is the fear he’ll just stick to the status-quo of Star Wars. He’ll hit the checklist of “What Makes A Good Star Wars Movie” but won’t do anything to push the envelope and do something a little more daring with the universe and the characters. I don’t think there’s any arguing against what Rian Johnson did was very daring. Johnson takes a lot of risks and I respect that a lot, even if there are a few that don’t quite hit.
FINAL RATING: 7.75/10
The parts in The Last Jedi that work, work phenomenally well; contrarily, the parts that don’t, stick out plainly. There is a lot to love about this movie, but with this movie comes a good bit of uncertainty and unsteadiness. Rian Johnson makes a lot of bold choices, pushing the envelope of what we know as Star Wars, but some of those choices falter in their execution. I will commend this film though for making several call backs to the original trilogy and even the prequels without it feeling like a copy, kind of like The Force Awaken’s basic plot structure and how it closely resembled/imitated A New Hope. The movie can be a lot of fun and provoking, but there’s plenty that this movie leaves to be desired. I think general audiences will come out of this movie very happy with it, but the Star Wars followers like myself have a chance to really enjoy it, but I’m sure will find at least a few things to be irked about.
