I’m unbraining my rot rn, don’t mind me
I rewatched she-ra and this manipulative assholish piece of scum of etheria who likely deserved death is still my favorite.. she’s easily one of the most well written and well crafted characters along side the main cast and I love her for that reason….. they also had no reason making her design so pretty.
That’s about it for my unbrainrotting for now

I love finding characters I can relate (/project onto) within media. There’s something so comforting about seeing yourself on screen. I end up headcanoning most of them to be in-line with my identities (lesbian, wasian, autistic) because they are literally me in my head!!
Anyway here’s a long ass list of my favorite characters and why I head canon them as autistic for fun!! If you have any others you’d like to add I’d love to hear them. (And please note this is just my interpretation, and highly based on my experience with autism. I’m not saying they’re definitely autistic or that all the traits I listed are the dsm-5 criteria or something.)
Princess Bubblgeum from adventure time:
Tumblr media
This girl is peak evil scientist autistic. Her intense need for control, the way she carefully observes the citizens she created, an outsider to them, not quite like them… god it’s so perfect. I read her as being somewhat low empathy as well, it’s hard for her to change her perspective to that of others. Plus the fact her brother neddy is a pretty obvious metaphor for higher supports needs autism. I think they of represent how autism runs in the family and appears in all sorts of different ways in different people. They’re sort of two different representations of the spectrum.
Marcy wu from amphibia
Tumblr media
I mean this one is just obvious. The biggest nerd of all time. So obsessed with her RPG special interest that she literally sucks her and her friends into a fantasy world. She’s clumsy (just like me fr), very smart but super socially awkward, a little oblivious and naive. She’s terrified of change, especially if it means abandoning the few social bonds she’s been able to make. I honestly find it hard to believe this wasn’t intentional.
Entrapta from she-ra
Tumblr media
Another pretty overt example. I do have some issues with how she was portrayed in the show- (keeping her on a leash was weird.) but overall I really love her. She understands her tech, not people, and it can cause her to come into conflict with other characters. Their treatment of her makes me sad at times, but it’s realistic. I also love some of her other quirks, her love of tiny food, her exitable demeanor, ect.
Pearl from Steven Universe
Tumblr media
Peridot is the more obvious example of an autistic character in SU, and while I agree she’s coded that way, I personally resonate more with Pearl. She is not very socially aware, and bothered by disruptions to her routine/ broader life changes. She doesn’t like to break rules (despite being a literal rebel lol.) I find it interesting how she seems to have the poorest understanding of life on earth out of the gems, despite having lived here for thousands of years. She is graceful, but has an almost sort of awkward gangly-ness to her that I relate to. Her neuroticism is also very similar to how my anxiety disorder presents.
Pearl has a tendency to infodump, without realizing those around her are uninterested. Even her relationship with Rose struck a chord with me. The hopeless devotion to her, the way she followed along at her side. It’s how many of my friendships have been. Obvious it’s not exactly the same considering Pearl having originally been her servant, but while not being an explicitly autistic trait, that sort of clingy, starstruck relationship is something autistic people are prone to developing. She does little hand stims at times too that I love to see.
Poison Ivy (specifically the version in the Harley Quinn animated show)
Tumblr media
I’m surprised I haven’t seen more people mention poison Ivy. Fiercely intelligent and deeply introverted, she isolates herself from all people, and only connects with and understands her plants. (Which her deep affinity for can definitely be read as a special interest.) She very overtly has trouble forming relationships with others.
She’s blunt, socially awkward and a loner, has something of a flat effect and a monotone voice. Those around her initially read her as cold and impersonable. Her struggle with social anxiety as well as intense fear of failure/ low self esteem is also very relatable to me. She also often struggles to express/understand her feelings and emotions. Her radical political ideas and the fact that she’s literally an ecoterrorist paints her as having a very strong sense of justice and a somewhat black and white worldview. (Me)
Finally, her relationship with Harley just SCREAMS neurodivergent solidarity. Harley Quinn is (I think canonically) adhd, and they’re both outsiders in the world that found each other and just… get each other. She’s Ivy’s closest and only friend and amazing girlfriend and god it’s all so perfect.
They remind me a lot of the relationship I have with my best friend with adhd except theirs is gayer.

Princess Arrow of Bright Moon
First born child of Queen Glimmer and King Bow.
Nickname: Ari
Named specifically because Arrow wasn't a name ever used before in the Bright Moon lineage and her parents wanted her to feel free to be her own person, free of any pressures or expectations.
Wields the same moonstone powers as her mother: light blasts and teleportation.
As a child, she was a being of sparkles and pure chaos. That... did not change much as she got older.
Loves to take things apart to see how they work… not so keen on putting them back together again.
Closest to Entrapta of all her "aunts." The combination of Bow's tech smarts and Glimmer's complete lack of impulse control mean they are both a terrible influence on each other.
While most similar to Glimmer in temperament, she's closer with her father because they share so many interests. (Bow also has YEARS of experience dealing with a temperamental sparkly princess that can teleport!)
Glimmer spent most of Ari's younger years trying to find a balance between parenting her own way and trying not to become her mother, especially since her and Arrow often clashed about the exact same things. But as Arrow gets older and there's less rebuilding taking the queen's attention, the two figure each other out, sparring with their powers and studying sorcery together.
As a child, Bow taught Princess Arrow archery, expecting her to lose interest in it once she was old enough to receive her moonstone powers. But because her moonstone powers are so limited (she shares the power with her mother and brother, Prince Glow), her archery skills ultimately came in handy. To Glimmer's immense irritation and Bow's distress, though their daughter only has the simple sparkles and limited teleports she started out with herself, Arrow taught herself to concentrate what little power she had into deadly bolts of light that she could fire from her bow making her twice as destructive as Glimmer was at that age.
Arrow's prized possession is her bow. Her grandfather Micah enchanted it she can summon it to her side instantly, same as Glimmer's staff. Her father made it for her along the same design as his own, but in rose gold at her preference. Though he modified the design slightly it tribute to the princess' love of unicorns and her familiar, Horkey (one of Melog's brood).
Arrow considers Finn their unofficial big sibling. Despite the significant age difference between the two (Finn's about five years older than Arrow), they consider each other equals in matters of sneaking around Bright Moon and getting into mischief.
Arrow is very close with her Aunt Adora, who she actually preferred to everyone for a brief period in her babyhood-- something Adora lords over everyone for the rest of eternity--, but delights in antagonizing Aunt Catra to the dismay of everyone within earshot when her aunt gives it back as good as she gets.
Appears in the following fics...
Princess Arrow of Bright Moon
Glow and Arrow (short fic collection)
Prince Glowyn the Fourth

Epilogue Life:
Catra does take awhile to adjust to school because it is a huge shift from her last few years of essentially doing whatever the fuck she wanted whenever (she did have a stream schedule, but it wasn’t a big deal if she canceled, or extended, or slept or ate or anything else whenever she felt like it), but even though she spends the whole first year questioning her decision, she does adjust eventually. Her friends all graduate long before she hits grad school, but Entrapta and Bow both went for a grad degree too so their life keeps following the school rhythm and it keeps her from feeling too left out. Catra does keep up with streaming even after she gets an internship with a law firm, her hours just reduce as it becomes more of the side thing she was trying to downplay it as.
Swift Wind isn’t actually 100% done until the summer after graduation, but Catra certainly doesn’t mind how long it takes, and on nights when both of them have roommates home they like to take drives out somewhere private to make out on the side of the road under the stars. Adora 100% supports her girlfriend in her weird niche and later on hypes her up a lot as the more impressive one for going through law school, which kind of blows Catra’s mind because she’s still used to thinking of herself as a loser.
Entrapta’s software does see a steady rise in usership after the introduction of Wildcat, and there are two main reasons why: 1) yes okay she specifically improved the physics for Wildcat. I’m not going to pretend that wasn’t a driving factor lol, but 2) Emily did a great job of showing off what was unique about Entrapta’s software — but people who weren’t looking for unique didn’t have much reason to pay attention to it. Wildcat showed she could make great, more “mainstream” avatars as well. She doesn’t become the #1 overnight or anything, but she does slowly become the #1 alternative to the corporate options and that’s really what she was looking for.
Catra does eventually tell Glimmer and Bow she’s Wildcat — who Glimmer likes even more than she ever did Emily — once they’re better friends, but it takes a few months. Glimmer doesn’t really suspect anything until Catra lets slip the occasional comment leading up to her revealing it because Catra is very private about her identifying info on stream — and cognizant not to tell stories involving Glimmer when she’s in chat — so she doesn’t actually have a lot of clues to get suspicious from. When she finds out she loses it, though. She eventually comes around to finding it funny, but by god for a while she would pout about it if you mentioned it. She’s mostly annoyed that Adora hid it from her, but Adora does argue that it was Catra’s life and it wasn’t really her business what she does for work. It mostly matters because Glimmer actually watches her, lol. If it wasn’t for that, she wouldn’t care.
Around the time Catra is comfortable telling Glimmer she’s finally ready to meet Adora’s moms, something she has been avoiding as long as she can because she’s terrified of the concept of Family, but obviously Mara and Light Hope are super sweet, it just still takes her a little while to get comfortable with them, but by the holidays she’s ready to experience them with Adora and her family for the first time. She never thought she would get a family along with a girlfriend, but 14 year old Catra couldn’t even conceive of the life she would have ten years later.
Chapter 1:
⦁ I’ve already talked about this a little because an anon guessed it Fast over here, but the original concept for this AU was just the neighbor thirsting stuff around the car. Catra didn’t have a job planned, but that stuff came up when it did come time to write it. I figured Adora would be in university since they were supposed to be in their early twenties, and I could have stuck Catra there too, but I liked the concept of Catra having this kind of very different life experience that made her feel a little alienated from her peers and especially contributed to her not being confident when it came to actually making a move on Adora. I don’t follow any like, VTuber vtubers, because the ones I do are people like jaidenanimations who just use an avatar of themselves and aren’t a character or anything, but a friend of a friend is super into vtubers and I hear a lot of the drama and shipping and stuff secondhand because of that. When I was getting ready to write the AU, my friend was explaining the drama about this company having a bunch of controversies with its vtubers and nearly everyone leaving, and that planted the seed of “lol wouldn’t it be funny if Catra was a vtuber in this”. And then I put in the allusions in the first chapter to stuff like gigabit internet still not thinking I was going to do it, except by the end of the second chapter I realized I was definitely going to do it, so I doubled down on it when editing chapter one to post.
⦁ Before those additions, I was kind of thinking this would be a one shot, and tbf that would have made sense with the amount of content in the first three chapters, but then I decided I wanted to shift perspective in chunks, which meant it made the most sense to make it a multi-chapter with the POV shifting by chapter even without those additions, and hey, I did manage to keep to my predicted chapter count once I decided that! For once! It totally counts.
Chapter 2:
⦁ This chapter was really short but I had to show that they were both being so incredibly stupid with their flirting when at any point one of them could have asked the other out and they would have said yes so fast the marriage proposal would be implied.
⦁ Catra lashed out a lot in school because, to be fair, her home life absolutely sucked and she had no friends and no hope for the future, so she just hated everything about school knowing it would probably add up to nothing and at least if she was a problem people were paying attention to her. Teachers might not have liked her, but they were looking at her and not hurling insults like Weaver, so that was about the best she got.
Chapter 3:
⦁ Adora was really just trying to lean over and not caring about where she put her hand because all her friends are touchy and she is too, but any touch like that from Catra would be her trying to put the moves on someone she desperately wanted to hold, so she extended that to Adora’s behavior as well. Adora doesn’t remember it at all because it wasn’t important enough to. If you asked her about it five minutes later it would take her a second to think if she had done it at all.
⦁ Scorpia and Sea Hawk aren’t exactly friends, but they did have a class together. They would wait for it to start in the closest lounge for a good half hour if not an hour beforehand so they ended up talking a lot over that semester and they still chat now when they run into each other. Scorpia only saw Mermista if she came there to be with Sea Hawk, and usually she was “too cool” for that and Sea Hawk had to come to her instead, so Scorpia really isn’t involved in Adora’s friend group at all despite the peripheral connection.
⦁ Adora stopped working on Swift Wind for two reasons: 1) she was only working on him so much for an excuse to talk to Catra (though she’ll glad for all the work she got done once it does get hot) and 2) she just felt so disappointed when she would see Catra and Catra would ignore her that it discouraged her from going out even the baseline amount she would without her.
⦁ Adora brings up hooking up with Mermista once because she, not remembering the leg touch thing, can only guess that someone mentioned her history with Mermista to Catra and she drew conclusions from partial information that was out of date and incorrect anyway.
⦁ Catra knows Mermsita doesn’t believe in marriage from Sea Hawk telling Scorpia he’d love to make the gesture of proposing but Mermista would just dump him again for it.
Chapter 4:
⦁ The valentines card was handmade because ain’t no way Weaver has even letting Catra use a printer to get something that looked “better”. Adora would have treasured it as if
⦁ When Catra is talking about hiding her face, she doesn’t get deeper into it, but it’s all about being safe. It’s not just Weaver punishing her for acting emotionally, it’s also the danger of letting someone see when she’s afraid, or in love, or anything else they can use to hurt her later.
⦁ The "go live" scene was one of the first ideas I had related to Catra being a VTuber and is one of the things that kind of convinced me to include it in the fic and then I almost forgot to write the scene lmao. The only problem with this joke is the whole thing is based around the fact the two different kinds of "live" are written the same, but that makes it hard to control which version of the word people naturally read there (especially the people who had figured out Catra was a VTuber already) so I hope the way I framed Adora's reaction to it made it clear. Catra was SO grateful Adora read it entirely wrong, but that showed her she couldn't keep it secret for much longer, but she wasn't ready to force herself through telling her either.
⦁ Okay, Roach. The cockroach thing is actually a joke I had for canon four years ago, thinking about how ways Catra talks sound like insults because that’s how she had to disguise her compliments in the Horde. That lead to the cockroach nickname for Entrapta, because seriously, thought dead twice and actually just thriving? Really? And no one in the princess alliance is really sure how to take it because Entrapta doesn’t seem bothered at all — because she understands, and she takes it as the weird compliment it is.
⦁ The black curtains are supposed to muffle sound transmission. Catra shoved her sound absorbing foam boards — which she just had leaning against the wall even months after moving in anyway — into the closet when she showed Adora the room before.
⦁ Adora doesn’t know what an OC is, so she’s just assuming that’s the name for a VTuber avatar and calls Catra’s new V that. She’ll eventually figure out how it works.
Chapter 5:
⦁ I had a lot of fun with the chapter titles in this one. I used a similar basic structure in LotD to signal when I was switching perspectives by chapter but it’s fun to heckle the characters in them.
⦁ Catra did try to pay Entrapta. Entrapta was confused. Eventually she more than paid in her back in commissions following Wildcat.
⦁ Catra was just a clerk at a random department store in the mall when a guy snagged a designer purse and tried to bolt with it. The purse cost equivalent to Catra’s entire paycheck, which she desperately needed, and her boss was within eyeshot and yelled when the man started running, so Catra just acted on instinct to protect her job and fucking tackled the guy — which is a terrible idea by the way, pretty sure they can argue that’s assault — which then knocked the purse out of his hands, so her boss ran over and grabbed it, and then the dude struggled up and she wasn’t paid enough to get punched so she just followed him as he ran out of the store to make sure he didn’t yoink something else. And then obviously her boss called mall security and they both told the whole story and like two weeks later the mall offered for a job because they were kind of stretched thin. She did like the mall security job better because she got to wander around a lot more without a boss looking over her shoulder and do a lot less (especially from a customer service perspective), but they both were a little soul-draining.
⦁ I’ll be honest Auntie Anne’s pops the fuck off. Wetzel’s Pretzel’s can suck a dick.
⦁ Catra just says “she’s colorblind” here because I thought about it and didn’t think she would casually make the distinction of “partially” within her own head right then.
⦁ Catra’s race both wasn’t a secret and was, because there were plenty of “hints”, but stuff like Emily having antenna in place of ears didn’t actually mean anything. Her viewers didn’t know they were mapped to follow Catra’s ears, they could have just been animations. People who were observant could figure it out given they don’t do the same thing every time she laughs or anything — it’s especially obvious when she moves just one ear — but it did still surprise some people when they saw her new avatar. The Wildcat in her handle didn’t really give anything away considering there’s a streamer named smallant irl and guess what, he’s not an ant lmao.
⦁ I think this literally never came up in the entire fic (only vaguely implied by Adora “moving away” when she got adopted) but neither Catra, nor Adora, nor Glimmer, nor Bow is from Bright Moon. Scorpia is local and Entrapta is from nearby (as is Glimmer), but Adora and Catra grew up like two hours away. When Adora was adopted, it was to Bright Moon’s outer skirts, so she’s kind of local now and it’s not even a day trip to go visit her moms. It is, however, long enough Catra dodges it as best she can. Anyway, Glimmer and Bow try to arrange their time visiting family to overlap so they don’t have to be apart for too long because they’re really fucking gay for each other.
Upcoming:
*clears throat*
*steps up to the mic*
Ahem.
Are you ready for Heathers’ Broadway debut?

Spop Beauty Pageant AU
So it’s kind of a twist on the pageant trope because I want it to be more inclusive and focus on cis nonconforming beauty standards. So the pageant would feature the entire cast and the different ways they express their beauty and confidence.
Double Trouble is a nonbinary icon. They make anything and everything look good 😎👑🧑‍🎤
Bow is a transmasc gender nonconformist. Dude loves his crop tops, and has no problems wearing flower crowns or donning a skirt when the mood strikes him.☀️🌼🏹
Glimmer is a short, chubby queen. She enjoys frills, pastels, and sparkles 💖 She, also, prefers to wear boots with everything and short hair; a sort of Rebel in Pink kind of style. 🦹‍♀️ 💅
Adora’s got a strong athletic style that leans towards gender neutral. However, it’d be fun to explore her softer feminine side with formal wear.👟🎀⚔️
Catra has this Punk Rock meets Femme Fatale vibe that’s super attractive 🎸🗡️ and yet she’d never be caught dead in a dress ☠️. A plaid skirt with ripped leggings underneath is the closest she’s likely to get. 😼
While Scorpia is a gorgeous wall of muscle she has a strong feminine style 👠💋. Additionally, in modern AUs, she is often times depicted with a prosthetic arm or two 🦾
Mermista and Perfuma have a pretty self explanatory aesthetic. However, Mermista’s character is meant to explore a non-western culture, while Perfuma herself could be read as a trans feminine woman. 🔱🥻💐💚
I’d love to explore Frosta. She also comes from a non-western cultural background with an elemental aesthetic but her style isn’t fully fleshed out either. One could lean towards multiple directions. I’d like to play around with her hair maybe add multicolored streaks, possibly an undercut. 🌨️❄️⛄️
Then there’s Sea Hawk who while very masculine in appearance is also very bisexual and body positive with his flamboyant over the top appearance. 🔥🏴‍☠️⚓️
I could see older characters like Angella, Light Hope, Spinnerella and Netossa, even Hordak acting as the judges. 🪽⚛️ 🌪️🌐💃
I’d probably add Entrapta as a stylist since she has no interest in competition. The spacesuits she took the time to design, along with Hordak’s armor, demonstrates how admirable her skills for fashion are. 👩‍💻 🪡🧵
Shadow Weaver could be a scorned and bitter pageant Queen trying to relive her glory days through one of kids (probably Adora). 🤡😒
Casta and Micah could be the cohost. I could see Micha dressing in drag for some his appearances too. 🧔‍♀️🔮🎤

Alliances of the Heart
A She-Ra: Princess of Power 2018 fanfiction
For centuries, the All Princess Ball has been a time for the nobility of Etheria to let loose. Flaunting their power, prestige, and fashion for all to see. The ball had always been politically neutral, but, as tension from the war rises, not everyone is so keen to forget what happens beyond the walls of Castle Chill.
Lord Hordak, along with Princess Scorpia and Force Captian Catra, have come to the party to make alliances and find out everything there is to know about their enemies. Careful to not arouse the suspicion of the Princess Alliance.
Princess Entrapta, being the scientist she is, decides to come to the party to decode the secrets of body language, despite getting the same data from every other party she has ever attended.
When the two rulers cross paths, their plans flip on their heads as the two grow closer. Now it is up to Catra and Scorpia to push the two together as Adora and Glimmer stick their noses where they do not belong.
________________
Chapter 10: The Right Step
Adora joined the party right as the doors opened, her eyes zeroing in on Frosta, who sat on her throne. Fighting her impulses, Adora stayed with the ranks of the crowd and surveyed the endless sea of partygoers. Despite entering with Perfuma, Bow quickly joined Glimmer’s side while Perfuma left to join her other friends. Sweet Bee was still melancholy, while the Star Sisters left a trail of giggles behind them. Catra and Scorpia were still upholding their air of friendliness (Adora was still convinced they were up to something). Also, she noticed Mermista and Sea Hawk were nowhere to be found.
Then Adora, unfortunately, noticed Hordak entering, and annoyance washed over her. Hordak had won over Entrapta, and Adora was still bitter and baffled Entrapta would ever want to join his side, but it didn’t matter now. Adora had a mission, and it will not be hindered by one warlord.
___________
Hordak had entered the ballroom, looking like a lost puppy as he searched for Princess Entrapta.
After careful observation, he deemed the princess late and told himself that was fine. To pass the time, he checked in with Catra and Scorpia.
“Have you learned anything new?” Hordak, who was already sipping on a glass of wine, asked.
“Huh,” Catra looked up at the warlord with a slightly apathetic expression, “Oh, nothing much, just useless gossip.”
Hordak’s face was pulled into a tight line. Despite the welcomed distraction Princess Entrapta provided, Hordak still wanted his original plans carried out. Also, Hordak didn't appreciate how flippantly Catra had started to regard him.
“Sorry, Lord Hordak.” Scorpia, who was still firm in her respect, commented.
“Never mind that,” the volume of Hordak’s voice dropped, “go after some of the other princesses and government officials who are not in the Alliance. We need as many people on our side as we can get.”
“What about,” Catra mused, glancing over to Frosta.
“No,” Hordak replied firmly. “Frosta is strict about Prom etiquette, and if she suspects we are trying to convert her, she could throw us out of the party entirely.”
The two Force Captains gave the warlord a short nod.
Across the ballroom, another set of doors opened, letting in Princess Entrapta. At the sight, Hordak’s posture straightened and his ears perked in attention.
But, Hordak’s attention dissipated as he picked up the sound of his Force Captains whispering and giggling to each other.
“What?” Hordak questions defensively, while his ears flicked downward.
“Oh nothing,” Catra sighed and began to pull Scorpia away. “You can return to your princess, Lord Hordak.”
“We’ll take care of everything!” Scorpia shouted as she and Catra disappeared into the glittering crowd.
Hordak rolled his eyes and brushed off his embarrassment as he walked toward the princess, placing down his glass while adjusting his cape and hair along the way.
When Hordak got close enough to fully see the princess, he was floored. His first observation was she was wearing the coat, despite the heat of the castle. Then he took in the rest of her ensemble. Instead of her usual overalls, she wore beige trousers, and white ballet flats replaced her work boots. Most interesting was the fact she had her hair in a high ponytail and her bangs were pushed up and hung over a pair of red-lens goggles.
The two finally took their places next to each other while Hordak attempted to calm his nerves.
“Hi, Hordak!” Entrapta greeted, as jovial as ever.
“Good evening, princess.” Hordak gave her a small bow. “I see you received your gift.”
“Yeah, I love it! It’s so versatile and comfy!” She gushed as she hugged herself and the coat. “This is the best gift anyone has ever gotten me.” She assured, a warm smile spreading across her face.
A warm feeling bloomed in Hordak’s chest, which was evident by the pink lightly dusting Hordak’s cheeks and ears. He cleared his throat, simultaneously trying to calm down the beating in his chest and ripping his eyes from Entrapta’s sparkling ones.
“Would you,” Hordak mused as his heart finally steadied, “like to return to the gardens?” Hordak offered his arm to the princess, which she gladly took.
“Of course!” Entrapta exclaimed as she began to drag away Hordak. “I’ve already thought of  87 design ideas for those bots you were talking about!”
“Sounds delightful.”
The pair made their way to the gardens through a corridor Entrapta had found on her way to the party (while Hordak tried to hide his embarrassment of not finding this earlier).
__________________
An hour passed and Adora finally found an opening to talk to Frosta. She was standing next to a snack table with no guards around her. Now, Adora just needs to approach her correctly.
It was evident Frosta was a stickler for Princess Prom rules and etiquette, so recruiting her wouldn’t be possible until after the event had ended. Instead, Adora focused on befriending and gaining her trust first, then slowly introducing her to the rest of the Alliance. When she is on their side personally, it should be easier to get her on their side politically. Also, if they were successful, perhaps some of the smaller kingdoms would follow Frosta’s lead.
It was a (hopefully) fool-proof plan.
Adora approached the table, hoping she appeared casual. She poured herself a glass of punch and gave it a sip, savoring the sweet drink. She pretended to innocently look around until Frosta locked eyes with her.
“Good evening, revered hostess.” Adora gave a short, yet firm, bow.
“Adora,” she replied with a regal yet dismissive tone. “Are you enjoying the festivities?” She asked, plucking a strawberry off the table.
“Of course, your highness.” Adora could feel her hands get clammy as an awkward tension started to form. “I would just like to say sorry for disrespecting you and the rules of Princess Prom. It was improper of me and I regret every moment of it.” Adora gave another bow as her nervous eyes were trained on Frosta’s expression.
“Apology accepted,” Frosta assured, lifting the weight on Adora’s shoulders. “This party puts me in an awkward place in terms of keeping to the rules, and I need to be firm and fair to all guests. Besides, this is your first ball, correct?”
“I understand, and yes, it is.”
“Then you have slight leeway.” Frosta paused, thinking about her next move. “I am not ignorant, Adora. I know, as a child ruler, I am in a precarious position. Many people expect little of me, so I need to keep a firm grip to command respect. I especially can’t have people causing problems at my first ball,” Frosta explained, her eyes keeping an unyielding gaze on Adora.
“I understand, hostess.”
“Good,” Frosta replied with a nod. “Walk with me.” Frosta began to move, waving at Adora to follow her.
The two walked across the floor and up the stairs to the second level of the ballroom, stopping infront of the railing.
“While, on the surface, this can be seen as just another party, this represents something bigger.” Frosta gestured toward the crowd. “It is the representation of peace between our nations and a chance for us to see our countries are not just masses of land, but people with thoughts and feelings.” Frosta turned to face Adora directly. “I know it is the sacred duty of She-Ra to protect our planet, but I can not afford to rattle the foundations of this event.” Frosta sighed. “I can’t stop you from thinking about or watching the members of the Horde, but just try to keep it under wraps.”
“As you command, revered hostess.” Adora gave her final bow, and the two went their separate ways.
___________
When she got out of sight, Adora took a deep breath and leaned against a wall.
Not 100% how she hoped it would pan out, but it was a step in the right direction.

Ooh, I've got quite a few asks! This is a long one...
Tumblr media
Aw, thank you so much! I've always said that I try to turn the subtext into text, but even doing that there's still plenty of subtext!
I come from a place of loving all the characters, so any mocking of them is gentle and light-hearted, but hopefully it has given people a different perspective on a few of them. A big part of the plot I've ended up writing is about loving yourself as you are, and not being ashamed to be true to yourself, and I think Hordak really exemplifies that as someone who very much struggled with that concept in the face of Horde Prime (someone who demands conformity). In that respect, he's very much a character I'm sure some people can relate to. Also I made him a largely incompetent evil emperor because that was just funny, so there's maybe fewer absolutely horrifying things he's done.
One of the advantages of this format is having more time to spend with the characters (I don't have to fit everything into 20 minutes), so that does mean we get more depth to people like Castaspella or the Horde Trio. That's not to criticise the original, there will always have to be side characters and characters who don't get much time, but I get to spend a little more time with them like this.
I'm glad you've come along for the ride, and I hope you enjoy the final week!
Tumblr media
He is!
Also this has probably prompted someone to write/draw Entrapdak as Barbie and Ken now...
Tumblr media
@tenaciousdecapitator That would have happened if Prime had gone on about how perfect Gateshead is!
Tumblr media
@solcaeruleus If I can make people cry, that counts as a victory!
The "I care what she thinks" line had been in my notes for so long - in fact, I think the first time I wrote Entrapta's "We're enough as we are" back in Season 3, I knew this scene would call back to that. It is the full circle of Hordak's character arc, really - he went from trying to be what someone else (Prime) wanted, to someone that he wanted to be. And it's of note that he doesn't entirely reject the 'fuck what anyone else thinks', because he cares what Entrapta thinks - he's taken that and added his own spin to it: You don't have to be anything for anyone, but making someone you care about proud sometimes helps you become who you want to be.
Tumblr media
@kirvee ME NEITHER
Tumblr media
@gardensofcrystals I'm so glad you could find some catharsis in this!
While I've not specifically written Prime as a particularly religious thing, the image I've had of him as some right-wing, anti-queer, anti-woman person isn't exactly a million miles from some types of Evangelical preachers, and I couldn't completely divorce him from that image because it was intended in the original - he's supposed to be an analogy to that kind of person.
His story is probably familiar to many people, who find something about their identity at odds with what they're told they should be. And that could be about sexuality with homophobic parents, or some aspect of yourself that's considered unacceptable by a religious or societal authority - I'm sure we've all had moments where we've felt we need to hide something about ourselves that we should never have to hide.
But whereas Prime will never be convinced that Hordak is 'good enough', my (admittedly limited) knowledge of religion is that God is kind of a loving guy and was quite hot on not being a judgemental prick to your fellow humans.

my friend
who is this purple lady youve been sending lately
Tumblr media
Entrapta is from She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.
Entrapta became a member of the Princess Alliance in the episode "System Failure." Soon after, because of an accidental misunderstanding, she turned against the Rebellion and joined the Horde. She became a major antagonist in the series, but later in the series, her position was put in jeopardy by Catra's actions, and she was sent to Beast Island. Entrapta, along with Micah, were eventually rescued, the Alliance successfully convincing her to rejoin the Rebellion. After Horde Prime was defeated and Etheria was saved, she was once again reunited with Hordak, and it was heavily implied that the two formed a romantic relationship.
Entrapta is fairly short and a bit stocky, about as tall as Glimmer, and has olive skin, rose eyes, and long, lilac-colored hair that she wears in pigtails. This hair is prehensile, meaning she can move it around at her own will like limbs. She is always wearing her work attire, consisting of heavy gloves, steel-toed boots, arm covers, a welding mask with red lenses, and a pair of overalls worn like pants. The shoulder straps are left loose over a white undershirt, which has been blotted with grease. Entrapta consistently stays in this outfit, even during Princess Prom. She also conceals a number of devices and gadgets on her person, like "any respectable scientist."
During her time on Beast Island, Entrapta's appearance changes due to the dangerous conditions surrounding her. She sports a new mask with bug like eye-holes (what she sees through), which has a cracked lens as a result of possible trauma. It seemed that she hadn't maintained her hair, her fringe grown out and the ends appearing filthy from the environment. She also gains three small scratches on her left cheek. At that point, Entrapta had her overalls fully on, unlike previous times where it was hanging loose.
After returning from Beast Island, the scratches and dirt are gone, and Entrapta's fringe is trimmed again.
Entrapta is incredibly hyperactive, cheerful, intelligent, bubbly, and optimistic. She's kind to everyone she meets, never threatening or harming anyone directly, including robots. She has a very positive outlook on life, even in moments of grave danger, and doesn't seem to mind what's going on around her as long as she can perform her experiments and research. Despite frequent scientific complications, Entrapta finds each failure as an opportunity to learn. She also believes that she herself is a failure but sees the term in positive light. In spite of her kindness, Entrapta is shown to be rather lonely and can be extremely heartbroken. Due to this, she is vulnerable and can be easily manipulated, such as when Catra almost effortlessly convinced her to join the Horde, believing that the other princesses had abandoned her.
Entrapta's most prominent traits are her obliviousness and her one-track mind. While she can recognize danger, her single-mindedness has led her to wander off in the Fright Zone to the point where Perfuma had to tie her up, disregard her promise to Catra not to enter Hordak's sanctum to find a six-sided hex driver, ignore Hordak's threat to her, work on his project without his consent, and steal food from Catra and Micah. Finally, due to her interest in Horde Prime's spire, she went right towards it, barely noticing the small army of war machines and surveillance drones surrounding it.
Before moving in with Hordak and the Horde itself, Entrapta lived in a building that was only easily navigable by robots. While there, she had a small kitchen staff who cooked her tiny foods and concocted fizzy drinks for her. They were shown to be rather uncomfortable with her robots as they said they could never get used to them.
In the final season, Entrapta finally realized her actions had consequences and felt genuine guilt for the terrible things she did with the Horde, wanting to redeem herself. She also admitted she had poor people skills and thought if she could help people with tech, they would like her. Deep down, she truly cares about her fellow princesses.
Prehensile Hair/Trichokinesis: Entrapta is able to manipulate and use her hair as though it was another appendage, as an extension of her body, like an arm or leg. Entrapta is explicitly said to not have a Runestone, so where this ability derives from is unclear, though given Entrapta's propensity for technology, it is possibly some form of technological modification.

This post will contain a lot of spoilers for various things, so beware.
So about a week or two ago and while I was in the middle of watching She-ra I saw a post that was about Catra’s redemption arc being rushed in season 5. While I didn’t read it I do want to toss my hat in the ring and give my thoughts.
So for starters, everyone probably already knows what a redemption arc is, but in the most basic terms is when a protagonist goes through character development that involves them starting evil but ending good. For example think Zuko in Avatar or for a real live example Robert Downy Junior.
Ok so we all understand how redemption arcs work, now to go back to Catra. There are examples of characters who can have rushed redemption arcs. One most prominent I would say is Ben Solo in the Rise of Skywalker, who after two movies of showing how bad of a person he was, changed sides after one fight with Rey where she heals him. That feels very rushed to me, especially when we see Kylo have moments where he is given a chance to come back to the light and he always refuses. In comparison.
But I would argue that redemption arcs can be as long or as short as they need to be depending on how evil the character is, and I would argue that Catra, despite not having good intentions throughout the first four seasons, was not in any way evil. So her redemption arc can be shorter because, yeah she did bad things, but wasn’t fully evil.
A lot of what goes on with Catra can be caulked up to the woman who raised her, Shadow weaver. Shadow weaver treated her in a very different manner than Adora, praising Adora for the frequently and claiming she was a perfect child. Catra on the other hand was treated poorly by Shadow weaver, in one example when she and Adora snuck into the Black Garnet chamber, despite Adora trying to take the fall Shadow weaver still blamed Catra for it. All because as Shadow weaver puts it to Catra, she sees a lot of herself in Catra. So I believe Catra is always living with the need to validate herself to Shadow weaver.
I can expand this to a lot of the characters in She-ra who fill an antagonistic role, starting with Shadow weaver. She only became evil after the ritual she wished to perform to protect Atheria from the Horde failed. She had good intentions, but that doesn’t make it right at all, and her heroic sacrifice made her unable to have a redemption arc, but she still was able to do something good for Atheria.
Next, I can talk about Scorpia, she’s a simple case where she only joined the Horde because her family sold the Black Garnet to the Horde, and she went along with it and joined. So she needed less redemption because she wasn’t ever truly an evil character.
Next, I can talk about Entrapta, she didn’t need much redemption because she only worked with the Horde because she was accidentally left behind by the Princess Rebellion. She didn’t do anything wrong to help the Horde, she just felt abandoned by her friends.
Next, I can talk Glimmer, who never became an antagonist, but her becoming Queen of Brightmoon put a lot of stress on her, so she slowly began to have antagonistic tendencies and alienated her friends. Leading her to try and seek out Lighthope for help and getting taken by Horde Prime.
Finally, the antagonist for most of the series up to season 5, Hordak. He’s also one where he’s evil, but his evil comes from a similar place to Catra. He created the Fright Zone in order to attract the attention of Horde Prime, so he can be at his brother’s side again. But when he does, he’s called a failure and a mistake for not only taking his own name, but altering himself to help with him being a clone. Leading to Horde Prime cleansing Hordak and making him like any other Horde Prime clone. I see Hordak as the Darth Vader of the series, manipulated by a much more evil individual and significantly changed as a result. Plus he gets a heroic sacrifice that almost works in destroying Horde Prime. But he gets the added benefit of surviving the sacrifice so he’s able to help fix what he broke. Furthermore, like Vader, Hordak had Entrapta, who helped him to see that his imperfections made him beautiful, and helped him despite him technically being her enemy.
So all the characters I mentioned are not truly evil, they are antagonist, but that doesn’t mean they are evil. Just like how just because you play as the protagonist doesn’t make you a good guy. Think like Paul Atreides from Dune who does horrible things once he becomes Emperor. Or any time you play an evil character in a Bethesda RPG. The only truly evil character in She-ra is Horde Prime, who was perfectly willing to enslave the minds of the people of Atheria in order to harness the power of the planet’s heart to spread his galactic empire.
In conclusion, another long post where I just wanna nerd out about stuff I know and like.

Princess Glimmer and the Day of Many Choices: Save the Bat (16/?)
"DOWN WITH THE TYRANT!"
"You can't kill him!" Entrapta pleaded. "Just look at those cute little ears."
"I think you will find they are perfectly capable to kill me," Hordak rumbled, "and well within their right to do so."
Tumblr media
"KILL HIM!" the first in line of the lynch mob shouted.
"But he's chaaaanged," Entrapta promised.
"Which will not wash away the blood from my many crimes as a warlord and invader," Hordak said with arrogant voice, "nor the pain, rage or rightul desire for retribution felt by the survivors."
Tumblr media
"Actually, brother, I think crimes commited while brainwashed don't count," the clone who had taken the name 'Wrong Hordak' said with a little wink. "Wink."
"However dubious that defence might be, such comfort is denied me," Hordak rumbled. "I commited the atrocities I did in the name of our father-brother willingly and under no influence other  than my own misguided sense of pride."
"LESS TALKING, MORE BURNING AT THE STAKE," the loudest person in the lynch mob shouted again, a little sprite girl with pink dress and transparant wings.
"SIC SEMPER TYRRANIS!" George the librarian cried.
Tumblr media
"ENOUGH TALK! KICK HIM IN THE DICK!" the pink girl cried.
"Noooo, don't kick him in the dick," Entrapta pleaded.
"I'LL KICK HIM IN THE DICK!" the pink girl rushed forward. Hordak watched in contempt as her foot conencted with the crouch area of his power armour.
"Ouch, ouch, ouch," the girl wined. "Did you all see that? That was child abuse! Kill him!"
Tumblr media
"Hoooordak," Entarpta wined. "Lets go home and put together an IKEA bookshelf together instead."
"No, my love," Hordak said with stoic voice. "I have to face the consequences of my action."
Entrapta watched him in confusion for a few moments.
Tumblr media
"No, you don't," she said after a little while. "I have an hover scooter right here. We could just leave."
"A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do," Hordak proudly said.
"Oooooooookey...." Entrapta said. She looked uneasily at the crowd. "Well, you get on with that, and I'll just step to the side and build a tiiiiiny murder-robot real quick..."
"SILENT ENIM LEGES INTER ARMA!" Geroge cried.
Tumblr media
"KILL HIM," the pink girl cried. "BEAT HIM WITH A STICK! FOCUS ON HOW ANGRY YOU ARE WITH THIS EVIL WARLORD AND NOT WITH THE CURRENT WAREABOUTS OF ANY OF YOUR BELONGINGS!" she helped herself to the purse of a fellow mob-member and turned her attention back to Hordak, when she suddenly became aware of three women standing in a half circle around here with arms crossed.
Tumblr media
"Eh.... oh, I'm such a sweet innocent girl..." 'she' said with an unconvincing giggle. "Anyway, I think I should get..."
"Hello, 'Flutterina'," Glimmer said.
"Or should we say 'Double Trouble'?" Despara said.
"I'm so happy to bump into you again," Catra said.
"Oh no, I'm not Double Trouble," Double Trouble said with a big grin. "But whoever it is sounds handome. Anyway, I should get going..."
"You are not going anywhere," Despara said.
"Actually, just let her go," Glimmer sighed. "It's not Double Trouble. I suppose this must be the real Flutterina."
"What?" Catra asked.
"What?" Double Trouble asked.
"You don't think Double Trouble would be stupid enough to disguise themselves as the one person in Etheria we recognize as them, do you?" Glimmer asked.
"I suppose that WOULD be stupid," Despara hesitantly agreed.
"Yeah, you are right," Catra agreed with a grin. "Also, there's no chance they would play as unconvincing and obnoxiously as this. I suppose it must be a real child."
"Hey!" Double Trouble protested.
"Not to mention what a lame scheme it is to set up a lynch mob simply as a cheap distraction," Glimmer grinned. "Double Trouble might not be the smartest operator, but at least they're better than that."
"OK, OK," Double Trouble said and took their own guise. "Just stop. I know you're trying to be smart, but..."
Tumblr media
"IT WAS DOUBLE TROUBLE ALL ALONG!" Despara gasped and grabbed the changelling. "I GOT THEM!"
"Nothing to see here," Glimmer said to the mob. "Just bed time for Flutterina is all..."
"I will sing a lullaby," Catra grinned, and the four of them left the scene, where the mob kept trying to work up the courage for someone to be the first to attack the aloof Hordak.
"CETERUM CENSEO HORDAK ESSE DELENDAM!" Geroge cried. "Oh, hey, Bow," he added in normal voice.
"Hi dad," Bow said. "Um... could you stop attacking Hordak, please."
Tumblr media
"Now, now, Bow," George chided. "violently overthrowing despots by the means of angry mobs is a time honoured tradition."
"I wrote my thesis about it," Lance added.
Tumblr media
"And juuuuuuuuust a little laser..." Entrapta muttered for herself, tinkering with a growing contraption.
"But you can't kill him!" Bow pleaded.

hi! i saw your intro post about your favorite characters and wanted to ask; what do you like most about dupli-kate? i found her hard to like after she had sex with rex when he was dating eve, but maybe i didn’t see the more likable or even redeemable traits after that scene. just curious!! :)
[gasps excitedly] oh my goodness i love this questionnn, uhhmm i think purple characters are all really cool. they're easily an instant fave of mines tbh (claire from trollhunters, daphne from scooby-doo, starfire from teen titans, entrapta from spop, amethyst from steven universe, miko from transformers prime, eulalie from nevermore)
Tumblr media
i can't focus on one specific thing that i like about her the most cause she wasn't as exposed to us audience as other side characters were like eve and cecil 😭😭 so uhhhh,,,, i hope you don't mind me dumping all these thoughts on her ahadhsahajshaha
i really liked her in the flaxxans episode!! when robot gave instructions to everyone in the team, he told kate to keep doing what she's doing. i love how it implied she's a competent hero. you'd often see teen heroes be portrayed as too eager and/or too reckless at that age (which isn't a problem, more of an observation), but she's a very focused and efficient in what she does.
also i'm on her side, she didn't do anything wrong on purpose. she seemed genuine when she saw eve look hurt and told her that rex told her that eve was "seeing invincible now" 😭😭 this one was on rex. i firmly believe she wouldn't have had sex with rex if she knew he was still involved with someone, she would have done that wayyy earlier in the show if that wasn't the case (and you see him screw it up too with saying that kate's copy is not even "the real kate" 💀)
and in the battle beast scene, she didn't have moments to really shine there like rex and black samson. but it does show, that along with shrink rae, that when it comes to team fights she acts as a good support :3
spoiler time!! this is about her in the comics, i haven't read it but i got some info about her from my moots <33 this is a pretty mild thing tho, nothing concerning the plot: she's one of the best dressed there hehe. i really like her style so i hope she gets to wear casual outfits in season 2
okay now this is pretty spoiler-y so you can skip this part just in case. if you go back to the episode that showed the mauler twins in their cells, you'll see a guy that has copies of himself in one of the cells. that's multi-paul - and he's kate's twin brother!! she got the trope of "hero character with a villain sibling". even when paul is a villain, they both care a lot about each other. special mention to our local paul ceo: @spellbook-gayboy btw!! kate and paul wrote letters to each other even when they on different teams.
UPDATE: i rewatched s1 and that scene where samson reviewed where they went wrong on their last fight with the lizard league, kate was the one that was openly humble about it. rex complained how overbearing samson is with the ordeal but she didn't turn down samson's points. she's open to criticism and is not afraid to let rex know that he could do better too.

Stickshifts and Safetybelts
Hordak stood in the garage and sighed. It all had to go.
Since Entrapta’s betrayal, there was no telling how much of the tech she’d created for the Horde was compromised. They would have to get rid of everything. He had already ordered Force Captain Scorpia to begin disposing of the rebel princess’s personal effects. It would take a more skilled hand, however, to dismantle what was in here.
Several prototype vehicles Entrapta had been designing for the Horde filled the space before him. It wasn’t her most important project — not even in the top three, really — but Hordak found it helped her boundless energy to scatter multiple worksites throughout the Fright Zone. This was her attempt to improve the Horde’s mobile forces which, according to her, had “no style.”
Hordak shook his head to dislodge the fond memory of their banter from that day. Entrapta was his enemy now. He couldn’t let himself think of her with anything but a ferocious battle-lust.
…Except, wait, that didn’t seem quite right either. Trying to distract himself, Hordak gripped a wrench and turned to the largest vehicle. It was a heavily modified armored transport, outfitted with whitewall treads and a sleek blue finish. Entrapta called it the Trapper Tank.
Hordak stepped on board cautiously, watching for any hidden booby traps she might have left behind. He noticed that the roof was designed to open and retract; could this be part of some nefarious ejector seat mechanism? He shuddered.
Worse, the cockpit was completely gutted. Entrapta had replaced the bucket seats and center console with a padded vinyl bench, put a simple wheel and pedals where the controls were supposed to be, and done away with the safety harnesses entirely. It was nightmarish. There was nothing to stop the pilot and copilot from falling right into each other’s laps on bumpy terrain, not to mention the hazards of combat. The whole thing was one giant safety violation. What was the purpose of it?
Hordak sat down, intending to start taking the dashboard apart. The bench seat was surprisingly soft, however, and he paused to stretch out for a moment. A tiny motor hummed. It was adjustable.
Hordak tapped his long fingers on the steering wheel and glanced to the side. He imagined Entrapta sitting right there next to him. Only so she could explain all these ridiculous design choices, of course — not because he needed her.
An inviting red starter button lit up. Something in Hordak’s chest came to life along with it, and against all his screaming better judgement he reached out to press it. The Trapper Tank awoke. Its engine purred.
Well, Hordak thought. Since he’d come this far. One little test drive couldn’t hurt.
It was for science.

Regrettably, Friendship is Magic (an SPOP Equestria Girls AU)
For today's prompt of Inspired By a Movie and, yes, I posted this on Discord once but I never shared it on here so let me live.
ok so Catra pulls the lever for the portal except instead of the normal portal reality, it puts her into Etheria High, a normal high school the sword comes with her, turns into a keychain
she runs into Adora, who does not know her, the two of them hit it off pretty well and Catra thinks, hey, awesome! I have Adora back, we get to start over, this is perfect!
except literally everyone else from the alliance?
HATES each other
and Catra's like, whatever, not my problem if Adora's new annoying friends hate each other, i got mine
except Adora is plagued by headaches and nightmares that Catra realizes are real Etheria, reality being ripped apart by opening the portal
if she wants to be happy with Adora in this world, she needs to close the portal in the other world… and she figures she'll just stay on this side, avoid all her problems, since there doesn't seem to be a Catra in this dimension
she seeks out entrapta re: the portal situation and together they realize they need magic to close the portal, a ton of it luckily, lots of the students at this school have latent magic ability (the princesses, obvs) but it's dormant so they can't use it until they activate it
hmm, activate it how?
Catra thinks about Battle of Bright Moon how the alliance was glowing when they worked together and realizes, to her abject horror, that friendship is magic
so if she wants to save this Adora and keep this new perfect life… she's going to have to get all of Adora's old friends to be friends with each other again
ughhhh
so she starts working on everyone and trying to get them to get along, getting Glimmer and Frosta to bond, Entrapta and Bow to be buddies instead of rivals, Perfuma and Mermista to stop fighting, wastes many hours trying to get Mermista to stop hating Sea Hawk only to realize they are just Like That
along the way becomes better friends and Scorpia and Entrapta than she was back home and realizes that's part of it too
finally, much like in the portal, she realizes that Glimmer and Bow are the key to it for Adora and she needs to get the best friend squad to be besties again… but the problem is that Glimmer and Bow can't stand each other
so Catra, hating her life, sets out to befriend the two of them to try to get them to realize how much they have in common until she locks them closet together and says they aren't allowed to leave until they are best friends
comic antics ensue
Finally she gets the two of them to realize they are destined to be besties, gets Adora into the mix, figures she needs to just step back and let this BFS thing happen and is surprised when they include her and, wow, this kind of fits really well, all four of them like this. Weird.
So now everyone in the alliance are friends like they are supposed to be and the magic works and they can close the portal but Catra realizes she can't stay here. That even though things with this Adora are great, it doesn't feel real or earned without their shared history. She can't just run from her problems, she needs to go back and make amends. So she says goodbye to everyone, horrified to learn she has actually started to care about all these annoying people, and goes back to Etheria with the plan to make things right and end the war
meanwhile, back in the other world, Adora is sad bc she has her friends now but her life still feels incomplete bc she lost Catra… but then Entrapta mentions they are getting a transfer student from Horde Academy next week, someone named Elizabeth Meowmeow who looks a lot like… you guessed it
The End

This is a Poll - Choose Your Own Adventure - When She Stopped Picking Scabs - Part 2
A few heads turned to the opening door. It wasn't until the quieting voices changed to deafened silence did more heads notice the extra guests enter the ballroom. That silence was then broken by a tiny *tink* as Scorpia's pincers pinched through the stem of her champagne glass and the room echoed of glass chattering on the floor.
"Uh- I uh- I'm sorry- I'll just um," Scorpia crouched down to pick of the broken glass, but her eyes wouldn't break away from Catra and Adora's. Each piece she picked up immediately shattered into tinier pieces.
Perfuma quietly patted her arm to help her up and let her know it was okay to just leave it.
"You... your here," came a voice. She ran her hand over glittered hair, "I mean..., you're actually here!"
"Uh yeah," she scratched the back of her head a little sheepishly, "I am, Sparkles."
Then sparkles disappeared.
"Don't teleport me, Sparkles. Don't teleport me, Sparkles!"
She reappeared with hands on Catra's shoulders and a wide, toothy grin.
"DON'T-TELEPORT-ME-SPARKLES!"
🌟 poof 🌟
🌟 poof  🌟 again
They stood on a narrow beam of a decorative arch that jut from the wall. Catra's reaction to the change of perspective was not taken lightly. Her nails dug in and clung to the adjacent wall with a noticeable *scrtch*.
"Are you crazy!?" she shrieked. "A-Adora she's tryin' to kill me!"
"Glimmerrrrr...," came a weak admonishment.
"This will only take a second," she rebuffed and then turned to the small group of friends in her ball room. "She's here you guys! Everyone say happy birthday!"
And everyone, from below, raised their glasses - except for Scorpia who raised her pincer instead - and wished her one in an uproar of collected voices.
"Th-thanks," she said back. She looked at them. The smiles on their faces. She wondered if they really did this every year or if they knew she'd come around this time. Or maybe they'd chanced Adora convincing her to come. Waves of joy with a hint of guilt filled her. Guilt only because she refused so many times. They had to have understood why..., right?
Either way, it was her day.
"Alright Sparkles," she said in a way that only Glimmer could hear. Only a small taste of a growl was in her voice. "Get me down."
Glimmer smiled in a way that seemed to between pushing her off the ledge and making her land on her feet or teleporting her down nicely. "Sure thing, Horde Scum."
🌟 poof 🌟
Catra held her head and gave a mild groan. Glimmer only told her that she should be used to it by now and elbowed her. When Catra looked up again, she saw those same smiling faces looking back. She said, "What...?" in that elongated questioning voice that searched those questioning faces.
The crowd seemed reserved. Perfuma wanted to start, but so did Bow and they both stopped to let the other speak first. Then it was Scorpia, Frosta, and Sea Hawk's turn to fumble their words over each other. Then finally, it was Entrapta who broke the cringe with a shriek, "Oh, this is taking way too long! I've already done this social experiment. Catra, have some tiny hors d'oeuvres." Quickly, a flash of purple had curled around a group of micro-quiches and promptly shoved into Catra's mouth before she could protest.
And Catra, with residual anger after being teleported uncomfortably was now finding new irritation with being force fed. That was, of course, until the flavors melted over her tongue. She took a long breath from her nose, "These are-" she chewed more. "These are good." Entrapta clapped her fingertips in celebration along side her prehensile hair doing the same.
"Oh, by the way," she said as she raised a clump of her hair and dividing it eight ways like fingers of a mutated hand. She began to count off, "Frosta wants to know if you want to see the cooler ice sculpture of you and her punching things. Apparently you have a lot of spikes."
"Entrapta! it was supposed to be a surprise!"
Completely ignoring, Entrapta continued, "Mermista wants you to 'chill out' at the hot tub with her for quote unquote girl talk which I find strange. It's usually just her talking about her husband and the things he sets on fire and the current book obsession she has." A groan emanated from behind. "But we all know how you are with your," she lowered her voice even though everyone could still hear, "fear of water."  She continued, "Spinnerella and Netossa said they arranged for all of us to play laser tag later tonight and you're on their team."
"Entrapta come on!"
"Perfuma and Scorpia want you to dance with them when the music starts again. She would be starting the music? I actually felt my hips move, it was very fascinating. Anyway, Bow and Glimmer-"
Glimmer teleported her away before she could say more. Bow then explained, "Uhh, sorry about that. We're all just excited to see you. Surprised too. Good surprised. And um, welcome!
Catra had to blink to process. "I really don't know what to say."
Adora wrapped her arms around her from behind, "Happy birthday."
Bow gestured at the distant Entrapta on the other side of the room where Catra assumed Glimmer was explaining why Entrapta couldn't just spoil all their gift ideas like that. Bow asked,

now i wanna try and make how i see catra's house in asdlm in sims (and a bunch of your other fics too because i always see them so vividly), this is really interesting i always saw the backdoor as a big sliding glass one
honestly now im tempted to do it too XD in my head theres basically an entire window/sliding glass door wall in the living room, but like, everything looks different to different people. i don't usually describe environments in detail unless those details mean something, so a lot of my "settings" are vague and open to the reader. it's really interesting to see how those things are interpreted.
like in chapter one of AMLAIT, i don't describe catra's bedroom at all (although it does come up a bit in chapter 5), but in chapter three i mention adora has ikea furniture and laundry on her floor because that gives a peek into her priorities, financial situation ig, and executive dysfunction lol. honestly its mostly there because of the adhd XD but i still dont lay out which furniture she has and where because your brain will fill in some of that stuff when you hear "bedroom" and its just bad writing to give you a floor plan when not relevant.
this also feeds into something else i call the Default Apartment, which is that every fictional apartment has pretty much the same layout in my head (when i write and often when i read unless other details are given), so catra's layout in Hurricane Adora is actually "the same" apartment as they have in catcher: in the sense that the front door leads to the living room, with the kitchen and dine-in table on the right (fairly open concept), and the back wall has the bedroom and bathroom. if you say apartment, this is what i picture immediately, and it's literally just because it was the layout of my family's apartment (for 2 months!) when i was five. (also i want to note that even though they share that layout, the apartments are veryyyy different in size/finishing in my head, its just that layout)
interestingly, thats not the layout of the apartment in AMLAIT? that's my default but just Not This Time for some reason. given the details i have/will describe over the course of the fic, it could be laid out any number of ways, but in this the apartment opens onto the living room from the side (different orientation than usual), the kitchen is on the left, the laundry is on the back wall along with the dining nook, and then catras bedroom in on the back wall and leads to the small hall with scorpia's next to catra's, a bathroom opposite, and entrapta's at the end.
who knows, maybe i will make something just to compare some general floor plans in my head XD i have no idea why my brain lays things out this way.

Insert Lore for my Entrapta ship
so been thinking about lore and my insert with entrapta. i used to have one but now it doesnt feel as fitting and also want to change some things up. So going to make a few bullet points. 1st Ship name is "Nature of the machine". our parents were very different yet fell in love, one of them was a genius with technology and all the mechanical stuff while the other had the powers and love of nature and wildlife. Entrapta got the first parents obsession and love of technology as well as incredible intelligence and hair based powers. Where as i inherited the other parents powers and love of nature and wildlife 2nd We are siblings, specifically she is my older sister (by 2 years). Yes it is an incestuous relationship and i will explain why. first off she is a princess. and we all know how royalty and incest go hand and hand. But second, she lived alone her entire life. she grew up in her castle surrounded by machines and robots that raised her. she genuinely had no living family that ever raised her. so the idea of the only other person she was raised with being her brother, the only ever person she ever really knows being him. well thats a bond that is so incredibly close and goes beyond what one normally expects. they are literally the only other person each other has known their entire lives. even as siblings its no wonder the feelings bloomed. and third its fucking hot so sue me. 3rd I do not have a design for my insert yet but i will be making one
need to look at the show a bit and design my insert that would fit as growing up along side entrapta. something that both fits a wilderness/huntsman style character that grew up in a technologically active kingdom like ours. 4th My insert DOES have powers He is able to commune with animals and has superhuman levels of tracking, sneaking, and hunting prowess. The ultimate huntsman that is supernaturally good with this. as well as immense knowledge about nature and wildlife.
