Pretty Little Liars: Ten Theories on the Mannequin Family

1. Vivian Darkbloom’s family.

Vivian Darkbloom is Alison's alter-ego, her fantasy self when she’s living another life: “Don’t you wish you could just be someone else?” Charlotte later takes on her identity, fleeing to Paris.

She’s supposed to be what Alison and Charlotte then want to be, and that includes the perfect “model” family, sharing “cherished memories” and “warmth and laughter” that Charlotte didn’t get.

2. Alex Drake’s wealthy family.

Alex Drake was sold from Mary Drake and Dr Cochrane to a wealthy British family that abandoned her at an orphanage when she was four.

Her adoptive parents along with adoptive siblings that were kept and loved, unlike her. The handprints on the wall are the mark of Alex who was abandoned by her adoptive family and lived a terrible life, even if they’re still living in their perfect model family.

3. Sara Harvey’s family.

Parents and a little brother, the blonde little girl can be either Sara or her sister instead (similar to number two where Alex is missing from the family dolls).

We learn Sara came from an abusive home in early S6. This could be related to the handprints on the wall.

4. More standard - Charlotte’s family.

Of course there could be a more standard answer to this question: simply Jason, Charlotte, Jessica, Kenneth. This is when Charlotte was still with her family. Jessica is pregnant with Alison.

After Alison came into the world Charlotte’s life changed not only by the bathtub incident but the boundless love she’d always have for her sister.

5. Bethany’s family.

Related to Charlotte giving (via Black Widow) condolence flowers to Bethany Young’s parents? Maybe or maybe not. The handprints on the wall are in three different colours. Three different Dilaurentis’s (the family of puppet masters) had its hand in affecting that family, and not for the better.

First - Jessica having an affair with Mr Young.

Second - Charlotte either trying to hit Bethany the night she died or digging up her grave, maybe there’s more we don’t know on Radley…

Third - Alison was supposed to be the target, but the hit ended up being made on Bethany. A fatal mistake…

6. Archer Dunhill’s family.

The reasoning for why Charlotte would have a mannequin family of Archer’s family (presumably casting him as the young boy) is dubious. However since he was her love it’s not implausible to assume she’d commemorate him in some way - and what better way to do that other than the other thing she loves the most; dolls?

7. Wren Kingston’s family.

Same with Archer especially since he was a major part of Charlotte meeting her sister and he seemed to know about the Dilaurentis-Drake-Hastings family drama back in *season 5* according to 7x20. Is it really a stretch to suspect a bigger role from him?

8. Charlotte and Archer’s future family.

With how much Charlotte cares about family it isn’t out of the picture that she’d want one with her true love Archer. The black haired mother Charlotte could be the Vivian Darkbloom disguise she continues donning after she runs away with Archer after being in Welby.

9. Not loved ones but lost ones.

The woman is Marion Cavanaugh, the man is Darren Wilden, the little girl is Bethany Young, and the little boy is “Charles” Dilaurentis.

It’s not a family, it’s the ones Charlotte has lost along the way, for better or worse, by outside forces or by choice (Side note: The handprints represent who they are survived by, one person with each colour. Maybe Marion is red or Wilden is or Bethany is green, could go either way. Either way none of them are for “Charles”).

10. Alice’s family.

No deeper meaning, but could this be the third reference to the mysterious, almost ghost-like, little blonde girl?

(In my view, this seems the most likely theory.)

thank you to @magicandarchery for the tag! (i swear the novelty of being tagged in stuff never wears off.) i actually had a hard time picking what i wanted to post today, but one of my options was rough af, so here's one of my favorite moments of psych au - now tentatively titled "what if i told you i'm a mastermind?" - a few days after alex and henry meet and solve their first case together.

Shortly after Alex takes the stage for the big reveal - it’s only the second time he’s dramatically accused someone of murder, so he’s still perfecting his delivery - Henry shares that he’d gone out on a limb and had the food tested. The results had come back inconclusive, but at that point it hadn’t been important. They had more than enough to prove Prochazka had both helped his son cheat and murdered Spellmaster Cavanaugh. What had been important, at least to Alex, was the knowledge that Henry had stuck his neck out on the slim chance that the guy he’d known for three whole days was right. It was at that moment Alex knew that Henry was different. That it wasn’t just the accent, and the soft hands, and the pretty blue eyes, and putting faith in Alex that he hadn’t earned. Henry was, to put it simply, good, and Alex’s heart didn’t stand a chance. Once arrests have been made and most of SBPD has cleared out, Henry finds him sitting on a bench looking out at the school grounds. “So,” Henry says from his spot behind him. “You’re a psychic? You must not be a very good one if you didn’t see our paths crossing again so soon.” “I think even if I did have the ability to see years into the future,” he replies, turning to look Henry in the eye. “I still wouldn’t have seen you coming, Detective.”

As Wilborn’s latest novel opens, lanky 17-year-old Michael Donnelly has already crossed the line. The son of Donnelly Avionics CEO and West Palm Beach millionaire Alex Donnelly, young Michael is a horror film fan, obsessed with the works of director Mario Bava, the “Fellini of gore,” the mind behind such masterpieces as Kill Baby Kill and Blood and Black Lace. Unfortunately, Michael is also obsessed with up-and-coming horror movie star Dawn Karston, to whom he’s mailed what he considers movie storyboards worthy of her artistry but law enforcement would consider death threats (Wilborn’s novel takes place in the 1980s, when parents and cops alike have movie-obsessed John Hinckley’s attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan fresh on their minds). Faced with the hard facts, and knowing that both he and Michael are still reeling from the suicide of Michael’s mother, Crystal (“the loss of a woman they both loved,” he reflects, “hadn’t brought them closer together”), Alex decides to have Michael committed to Palmdale Haven for the three weeks Dawn Karston is filming Swamp Fiend II in the nearby Everglades. Michael, “a gawky mantis of a kid,” learns of this plan and goes on the run with his father’s credit card and soon falls in with blustering Cavanaugh Reilly and his lover, Lola, who promise to help smuggle Michael onto the Swamp Fiend set before his father’s private investigator finds him—although, to up the ante in a relentlessly clever plot, they’re also thinking of double-crossing him before the money runs out. It’s an antic, very Floridian tale, populated with larger-than-life characters and full of Carl Hiaasen–style dry humor and Elmore Leonard–style sharp descriptions. The characters all have penchants for funny one-liners, and a kind of zany logic binds their very strange separate worlds. Wilborn packs a lot of fun and human insight into a slim number of pages.

rapid fire version

1x11: Moments Later

at the end of the 1A finale I joked that if the teenage girls had the presence of mind to read off the license plate off the car that hit their friend, this show would be over a lot faster.

I was wrong because it turns out the car was stolen, A does think of everything

poor Emily on the stairs listening to her parents discuss her coming out as if she announced she committed a felony or some shit (Wayne, essentially: man I'm not happy about this but I saw dudes die in Afghanistan so I think our daughter kissing girls is fine.)

random bit I like: all four girls are in the hospital room, and while Spencer updates an injured Hanna about the Ali + Ian tree stump being cut down, Emily and Aria have a quiet aside about how coming out to her parents went

LABOR DAY!!!

1x12: Salt Meets Wound

when going over how weird her parents have been since she came out, Emily mentions "changing the channel when Ellen comes on". Wild.

(Sudden theory that Aria's parents are the least bonkers when it comes to directly taking care of their kids and this is why they got stuck with the intractable problem of Aria/Ezra, in this essay I will-)

Did like the note that Maya was actually very stressed but felt obligated to act cool and casual for Emily's sake.

He's a dick these couple of episodes, but Lucas is most understandable when explaining why he destroyed the memorial, it must drive the kids Ali tormented insane that they have to hear the other kids and adults go on about how great she was...there are a couple of other characters whose opinions on the memorial/similar I'm curious about

There's a scene that ends with Toby ominously taking a tool to his ankle monitor, and then when we cut back to it he's just uselessly hitting it in frustration. Oh, Toby.

Spencer and her dad have a completely normal father-daughter conversation complaining about the whole Ian/Melissa thing and Ian leaving his boxes everywhere. Her dad says if he knew she was around they could've watched the game in the living room instead of him watching it with the volume off in the bedroom to not bother Veronica - I am arbitrarily deciding that Spencer and her dad watch ice hockey together.

1x13: Know Your Frenemies

The other liars are very cutely happy about how cutely happy Emily/Maya are here - Emily in this relationship must seem very different to the Emily with Ben they knew. All of the liars are getting to know each other again in S1, but I find it especially fun with the others reacting to Emily

Toby's life is such a nightmare. Spencer stares at him suffering in school and crying next to a dumpster in an alley and contemplates if perhaps Toby Cavanaugh possesses emotions

Pam digging through Maya's bag (which reveals a mix CD Emily made for her!), opening a tin, finding a joint, telling Maya's parents about the joint...

All of that really didn't register to me as a teenager but as an adult these are Pam's actions so far that age worst for me. Especially when it gets Maya sent to a troubled teen/wilderness boot camp, which is a terrible industry with plenty of proven negatives. No teenager needs to be institutionalized for doing some weed, and Maya's not even the lazy stoner stereotype. Ugh.

Oh I wonder if the writers did this plot because Emily in the books gets sent to one of those conversion therapy camps and decided to flip it

The Ali/Ian video is such a good piece of evidence. 10/10 on how it's framed.

1x14: Careful What U Wish 4

The dance-a-thon is to raise money for a school trip to DC, which is why there are cardboard cutouts of Obama and Clinton around.

Caleb is here! I like that his first full conversation is Emily going "get me my phone faster, I'll pay you more, no you don't have time to eat so I'm not buying you food". He talks to Hanna and Spencer this episode too. Good introduction all around.

ofc none of the girls just transfer the video to a USB stick....girls...maybe Caleb can start there with basic computer tips....

Aria's behaviour with Ezra and Simone is so embarrassing this episode, poor Spencer had to ask Ezra to dance to defuse shit and now has to live with that. This is in between comforting Emily about Maya and breaking into Ian's office. Spencer really accomplished the multi-tasking this episode.

Love everything about A bribing Hanna into dancing with Lucas, Hanna repeatedly saying yes despite how it hurts the boys because she would always pick her mom first, Emily noticing this in her drunken despair and telling Hanna it was just like how Ali treated her

is this the first time we have a character explicitly compare Hanna to Ali? Ouch if so.

Hanna and Spencer escorting drunk Emily to Spencer's house and the former tucking her in are still a great couple of scenes. ("I can open my own damn door!")

Does Spencer know who the shadow following Alison is? She says no to Hanna, but the girls do keep secrets from each other...

The Cavanaughs

For the past few years, Realianna has been dealing with being a single mother and taking care of the twins the best way she can. Taking care of two kids while running a business has not been easy. It became so hard that her father decided to sell his house and moved in with her to help out.

The twins loved their Grandpa, and they enjoyed every moment they spent with him. Realianna was so happy for the help, and she was able to really focus on her business. Now, she is able to put in more hours at work and really achieve her dreams of having a five-star vet clinic.

Growing up, the twins had everything that they could ever wanted. Except their mothers' time and a father. Dria became a very rebellious teen, getting into trouble a lot, arguing with authoritative figures at school and out in the public, sneaking out and going to clubs, getting drunk, and getting arrested. Sending her to summer camp was the last resort that the school offers in order for her to graduate from high school. Her grades were amazing, and she was eligible to graduate early, but her attitude was the worst.

While at the camp, let's just say she was not the most reserved girl on the trip....

Despite all the negative things that Dria has been doing, she and her brother graduated early from high school and started university shortly after. Dria is pursuing a bachelor's in the performing arts, and Alex is going for a bachelor's in music education.

Dria was crowded prom queen at her senior prom!!!🥰

13 years into their marriage, Felix and Kagami decided to call it quits. Felix had cheated on Kagami, and she just felt like she could never trust him anymore. They have been through a lot together, and she thought that him being unfaithful was just in her head. But after he confessed to cheating, she couldn't trust him to not do it again.

After the divorce, they had a great co-parenting arrangement and they became really close friends. They started learning more about each other and it didn't feel like they were divorced. They were dating other people but the comfort and love that they got from each other was not the same with the others.

They still loved each other, and that was very obvious.

However, Felix was dating Mercedes, and even though he didn't love her, as evil as it seemed, he just didn't care to date anyone else. He wanted his wife back, and Mercedes was just a placeholder.

His heart was and forever will be for Kagami❤️

Son bölümde 42'ye kadar çıkardık ama Karadağ ekibi en iyi oyununu sergileyerek 35'te bitirebildi maçı. Tebrikler Bahçeşehir'e. Serüven durak bilmeden sürüyor. Bahçeşehir Koleji'nde Can Maxim Mutaf ve Tyler Cavanaugh 15'er, Egemen Güven ve Axel Bouteille 12'şer sayı gönderdi. Mornar Barsko Zlato'da ise Alex Gavrilovic 12, Milija Mikovic, Strahinja Jovanovic ve Dwight Murray 10'ar sayı kaydetti.
