Holding each other. 🪻🌷🌻
Tumblr media
Hey, Jude, don't be afraid
You were made to go out and get her
The minute you let her under your skin
Then you begin to make it better
And anytime you feel the pain.
Hey, Jude, refrain
Don't carry the world upon your shoulders. 🪼💫🪴

Favorite Cartoon Series Villains
Tumblr media
Slade Wilson - While I love Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke the Terminator in most of his incarnations, the one from the 2003 Teen Titans animated series will always be my most beloved. Voiced to chilling perfection by Ron Perlman, this Slade Wilson is implicitly the same soldier turned mercenary we all know, except that he finally got fed up with being smarter, stronger and all around better than the powerful people who hire him and has decided that he should be the one in charge of his own empire. To that end, he has become a criminal mastermind bent on conquering cities and finding an apprentice to carry his empire forward long after he's dead. Slade is cold, ruthless, underhanded, manipulative, predatory, and just all-around evil. Having dispensed with any notion of a "code of honor" that has traditionally been Slade's excuse to justify his actions, there is nothing this madman won't do to make his megalomanic dreams a reality. In terms of sheer supervillainy, there's just no topping him.
Tumblr media
Professor Pericles - Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated is an outstanding animated series for many reasons. One of them is how many truly, viciously evil villains it has, and none are more evil that Scooby's predecessor in Mystery Inc., Professor Pericles. A parrot that is equal parts super genius and super sociopath, Pericles is like Hannibal Lecter crossed with Yami Bakura: gleefully in tune with the spirit of a demon and ready with all kinds of schemes and manipulations to bring him closer to his goal of setting that demon free so that he can obtain ultimate power. He's even willing to kill people....and he actually does, several times! How genuinely malicious and scary they made this cartoon parrot is truly something to behold.

Note
Do you have any other headcanon for the beatiful dead people group?
1. The whole group supports each other, and even if someone ends up in the hospital, they will come and just throw supportive words And not only.
Almost everyone in the group doesn't like Ivy's house, because it's... Too lonely and empty, Anyone who is there during the day may not feel comfortable there...
Every two to three weeks they all meet together and can spend time either visiting someone from the group, or going for a walk somewhere
Tumblr media
2. Ali, if he identifies unpleasant people or if he wants to hide, does not panic and simply takes on the appearance of someone they know
Perhaps they listen to jazz music in their abandoned house , And perhaps they have tea parties with Catri
3. Dravolo maybe if Ivy gave them her threads, used them as whips , It’s also possible that this is a member of the group who either called or came to wrestling lessons (from the same Ivy, why not)
Even though they are older than the Catri (???) (IT SEEMED) But with them they can behave as they want. They are the ones who introduced the group to Sam, and support this humble ghost
4. Catri probably has a closet full of horror franchise movies or merch.
Perhaps they find Topics for conversation with Shi, And they can often frown when little Den does tricks.
She asked To prevent friends from clapping firecrackers near her
5. Jirlshi When she goes out somewhere, she puts on clothes that cover her back and similar areas of the body where her organs are visible, so that any garbage does not get there.
Often spends time with Ivy because she knows how to Travel through portals and semblances
Although sometimes she is extremely responsible, sometimes she can also create chaos (such as prank or painting someone’s face with markers
She is ready to do a 48 hour viewing of old horror cartoon films, and this is just the warm-up
6. Ivy......... She Really ready to sacrifice everything she can.
Likes to fall asleep cuddled. She didn’t accept Sam into the group from the first day, but Wants to know more about him
When Ali, Dravolo, and Catri are around her, she behaves more responsibly (To take care of them as the eldest in case of any danger) And together with Shi She can behave absolutely chaotically.
7. Den Able to irritate and touch everyone with his tinyness
Unfortunately, he falls victim to Ivy's creativity and she makes him tiny, stylish suits.
Often sits on everyone's heads (for example, Ali Dravolo and Ivy)
He treats Dravolo like an older sibling.
8. Sam is new, so sometimes he gets lost when the guys offer something.
Ali sometimes blurts out next to him that he likes Brook , And sam understands everything
Finds it interesting that he's a ghost , And sometimes may not hold objects in your hands (aka he is transparent)
Sometimes he politely asks Ivy to make him more clothes, and she doesn't mind.
9. Fey doesn’t come to this group often, but she visits these guys and brings all sorts of baked goods from home
He thinks Ivy's friends are kind as long as Ivy says so...
Finds it normal that Ali fell in love with someone and generally supports the guys from the group to the fullest.

My PJO Disney+ Content
This is part twelve of my masterpost (that had too many links so I had to break it up lol).
Anyways, this section is all about the PJO Disney+ tv show. I'm constantly editing and adding new links and content so please check out the original post on my blog for the updated version.
Enjoy!
General
PJO S1E3 Memes (not mine)
Ep 1x5 Memes
The gods should have come across as less human and more otherworldly/dangerous (not mine but I agree)
The tv show overall as an adaptation is kinda disappointing. (not mine but I agree)
"Not ALL gods." -> An interesting perspective the show is taking; clearly labelling some gods as shitty and some as redeemable.
Guessing the Percy Jackson TV Show Episode Contents
I don't want a season 2 -> They fucked up season 1 too badly imo
Meme: Rick screwing up yet another adaptation
Was Hazel in that field of asphodel that the trio passed through?
Percy is not actually an idiot, Sally taught him well + Rick girlbossed Sally too much and changed her characterization
The TV show never explained that the gods don't have DNA so now all percabeth shippers are going to look like inc*st shippers
Hades's scene kinda flopped - it didn't have the "he was the first god that I met that actually looked godlike," energy
Charon and Hades's vibes should've been swapped - Hades the intimidating one and Charon the cool one in the funky suits
Bad writing in the tv show: the kids walking into traps all, "i know this is a trap"
Things I liked/disliked about episode 7
The change for the solstice passing while the kids are in the lotus casino makes sense
Percy Jackson
THEY SHOULD HAVE KNELT AT THE CLAIMING SCENE
I'm worried that some people might see Percy actually being stupid/incapable instead of seeing that it's Percy's unreliable perception of himself
The show did a good job with neurodivergence in the beginning episodes
The pinecone line was Percy questioning Zeus's power, not dissing Thalia
The happy goofy Percy scenes never sat right with me - because he lost his mother 1-2 days ago and we never see him mourn - only be really happy and occasionally angry (at his dad)
Analysis of how horrified Percy was to see his mom in the underworld
Poseidon (and Amphitrite and Seafam)
Interesting detail in the Poseidon cabin: Poseidon is looking directly at Percy
Poseidon decoration cabin 3 for Percy 12 years ago
Poseidon's ppl and Atlantis know about Percy and care for him theory (not mine but I agree)
Poseidon is paying child support + here too
Poseidon snatching Percy out of the air like he's a toddler
really sweet post on Percy and Poseidon's relationship
A short thing about Medusa and Poseidon: was there consent?
It hurts more knowing that Poseidon wanted to be there (and had a good reason to stay away) vs. thinking that Poseidon just being uninterested
Changing it to four pearls was a good change (especially for Poseidon's character)
Seafam in the tv show: Poseidon is like a cartoon kid holding back a closet (aka. his entire domain) from spilling out and beelining straight for Percy
Gabe Ugliano
Unpopular opinion: Gabe in ep1 does not deserve to be murdered by Sally.
Sally Jackson
The scene with young!Percy being scared of water and Sally yelling at him was a bad take for many reasons (not mine but I agree)
Sally and Poseidon parenting Percy
Zero resentment between Sally and Poseidon (ep 7)
Comparison between tv show Sally and book Sally
Article about Posally and the longing/yearning (Poseidon/Sally)
No resentment between Posally - the ep7 moment was beyond amazing
Ep 7 Posally: 2 parents who are still in love but cannot be together doing their best to protect the product of their love
Amazing analysis why Percy is so different from Poseidon's other children (and how the show fucked that up)
Sally has canonically never raised her voice to Percy in the books - wtf was the tv show doing
TV show Sally is not book Sally - critique
Book Sally would never make Percy feel like a burden. TV show Sally on the other hand...
Hermes
Hermes is a good father by godly standards - he cares so much
Hermes did not waste Percy and Annabeth's time: he gave them a crucial tool to completing their quest
Clarisse LaRue
Clarisse La Rue
It makes sense that Clarisse is so angry and competitive (short analysis)
Annabeth Chase (some of this is critique, you have been warned)
Annabeth's stalking and why its a serious problem (that escalates in the books)
Percy had valid reasons for thinking that he and Annabeth would never be friends.
ppl mad at percy for the “thought we could never be friends” line but from his perspective it’s actually so valid
Percy fully 100% clocked the way Annabeth has been nothing but unkind to him from their first interaction on.
Vent: ppl will easily analyze how tv Gabe is abusive, but choose to remain blind at how Annabeth is abusive
Annabeth stalking Percy, reaction
The TV Show made Annabeth far more capable than she is in the books, and removed the element of suspense and uncertainty from the show.

Once Upon a Dream
Vriaer Roza a young girl who grew up way too fast, fending for her younger siblings and herself. She finally got the big break that could help her achieve her dreams and help her siblings at the same time! The Big Dream Inc. were giving out scholarships for capable people but don't have the means to study. She applied, she passed the test and all! As everything feels so good, everything is going so well. But it all went down south as she finds herself dreaming awake. She stood a few meters away from a scenery that she was sure came from children's cartoons. The metallic, steam vomiting castle, took a step forward almost making Vraier a pancake.
A/n: Vraier is a real name by the way, my friend's name (I have permission touse her name) and is pronounced the same as Briar from Briar Rose aka Aurora.
🎶I know you
That look in your eyes is so familiar a gleam.
And I know it's true, that visions are seldom what they seem🎶

Who's Who In The DC Universe #1: The Atom I, The Atom II, The Atomic Knight, The Atomic Skull, Auron
The Atom I by Rick Hoberg & Romeo Tanghal
The “original 98-lb. weakling, Al Pratt bought dinner for a drunken vagabond who turned out to be Joe Morgan, a former boxing champ
Morgan put Pratt through an intensive training and exercise program
Pratt chose to become a costumed crime-fighter instead of pursuing a boxing career
Atom gained “atomic strength” from an encounter with Cyclotron in 1948
The Atom was a charter member of the Justice Society and later joined the All-Star Squadron
The Atom retired after the JSA’s breakup in the 1950s
He later became a professor of nuclear physics and married a woman named Mary
Al’s godson is Nuklon  (aka Atom-Smasher) of Infinity Inc
He remains mostly retired but will don the costume when duty calls
The Atom made frequent appearances in the various Justice Society series and in All-Star Squadron. Damage (Grant Emerson) was later revealed to be Al Pratt’s long-lost son. If I remember correctly, Atom died in the Zero Hour mini-series so he never encountered Grant. I am unsure of the explanation behind the disappearance of Al & Marys son or how Grant ended up in the bad guy’s custody.
The Atom II by Gi Kane
Ray Palmer was a graduate student trying to find a way to reduce matter in an effort to aid farmers in increasing their yield. Ray discovered white dwarf matter was needed to successfully reduce objects.
Palmer shrunk himself in order to free himself and others from a cave-in.
Ray became a professor at Ivy University and the hero known as the Atom.
Palmer married Jean Loring but the duo later divorced.
Ray and Jean told their story to author Norman Brawler, ending Ray’s secret identity.
Ray suffered adverse health effects due to years of exposure to white dwarf matter.
He currently lives with an alien culture located somewhere in South America, permanently remaining at his six-inch size. The aliens are around six inches in height.
I’ve always loved Ray – a likable, relatable genius. “The Sword of the Atom” was the mini-series/special where Ray moves to South America. He fell in love with one of the aliens (I can’t remember her name) but their love was doomed when loggers (I think) destroyed the alien civilization, causing her death.
Ray returned to America, solved his shrinking health-related issues, and resumed his heroic adventures.
The 2000s were not friendly to Ray. Jean, his ex-wife, decided to murder Sue Dibny, among others, for…reasons. Ray became a shrunken recluse allowing Ryan Choi to become the third atom. Donna Troy, Jason Todd, and Kyle Rayner searched the multiverse for Ray Palmer for…reasons. Jean Loring became Eclipso and a Black Lantern and murdered more people for…reasons. Ryan Choi, a delightful character, was murdered for…reasons causing Ray to resume the mantle of Atom.
Did DC have to murder Ryan? DC has dozens of speedsters, kryptonians and Bat Family members. I think the universe can handle two Atoms.
…reasons = bad storylines I can’t be bothered to remember the details of.
Ray has had multiple solo titles and is a long-standing member of the Justice League.
Ray has appeared in the Justice League Unlimited cartoon and made multiple appearances in CW’s Arrowverse, most notably the Legends of Tomorrow series.
The Atomic Knight by Murphy Anderson
Gardner Grayle was an army sergeant who was placed in a sensory deprivation tank and subjected to a series of simulations, studying his response to nuclear war and its aftermath
Grayle tapped into his latent telepathic abilities and took over the simulations and the staff
He fantasized beyond a nuclear war, instead conjuring up a fantasy where he and a group of others wore radiation-proof suits of armor. The Atomic Knights helped restore order to post World-War III America.
The fantasies expanded to include an appearance by the mythological Hercules
Grayle fell in love with Marene Herald, a psychiatrist attached to the project and included her in his fantasies
Superman discovered the project when Grayle’s fantasies began reshaping reality. Superman shut down the project and freed Grayle from the tank.
The sergeant had to re-adjust to life in the real world and Marlene’s real place in his life.
Grayle joined S.T.A.R. Labs and use his precognitive abilities to prevent catastrophes
Grayle occasionally dons a suit of armor, stolen from the army, and goes into action as the Atomic Knight
The only Atomic Knight(s) I’ve read was their appearance in the Convergence Legion Of Super-Heroes mini-series. I will say, if I was stuck in a sensory deprivation tank and subjected to a series of post-Nuclear War scenarios, I too would create my own fantasy world.
The Atomic Skull by Curt Swan and Murphy Anderson
Albert Michaels was a director of S.T.A.R. who suffered from a rare nervous disorder that short-circuited the electrical impulses of his brain.
Michaels stole his own inventions from S.T.A.R. and turned them over to SKULL, where he quickly became the leader
Skull attempted to cure Michaels by implanting a neural pacemaker made of radium in his brain.
The implant malfunctioned, mutating Michaels’ brain waves into a new form of energy
The Atomic Skull is a C – D level Superman villain. He did make a few appearances in the Justice League Unlimited cartoon.
Auron
Kidnapped by the Psions, the Okaaran woman X-Hal was forced to take part in a genetic experiment and was mated with a Branx warrior. The mating produced two children, one who became the first Citadelian, the other the being called Lambien.
The Citadelian left Okaara when X’Hal went mad and destroyed three of Vega’s 25 planets in her fury.
Lambien was raised by X’Hal once the Warlords of Okaara found a way to harness the incredible power granted her by the Psions’ experiment.
Lambien received some of X’Hal’s powers and appointed himself the guardian of Okarra
Lambien later joined the Omega Men
His power continued to grow and though he feared he may become as insane as his mother, he retained his sanity
Lambien changed his name to Aurion
Aurion and the Omega Men destroyed a Gordian fleet of Citadel slavers on earth and then returned to Vega, where they helped end the Citadel tyranny.
If you are a fan of the Wolfman/Perez era of the Teen Titans, a few of these names should be familiar even if you’ve never read an issue of Omega Men. The Citadel and the Warlords of Okaara feature in the origin of Starfire. And Kori swears by “X’Hal” in almost every Titans issue. Marv Wolfman is the creator of the Omega Men and Starfire which is why he can interweave the story elements between the two series. Starfire debuted in late 1980 and the Omega Men in mid-1981.
I’ve never read the 1980s Omega Men series (it’s on my TBR list as I’ve heard it is excellent). I have read many of the other appearances of the Omega Men from the 1980s to present day – their Teen Titans appearances, the Invasion, the Adam Strange, Rann-Thanagar War, and Tom King mini-series and I can’t recall Auron featuring in any of them.
Love the Omega Men, they’re a fun group.

ALL WIRED UP - a playlist
assimilate this! (exquisite technological mix)
WELL WELL WELL. I haven’t put together a playlist for a month or so, and it’s time. Also haven’t shared many of them here, I don’t think. We will be welcoming Virgo season in with a focus on robot rock, Borg perfection, wired up to the max, a playlist for all you machines and machine-lovers out there.
The Man Machine - Live
Kraftwerk
I was fortunate enough to see Kraftwerk twice in 2014; it was a religious experience. I saw them perform this album, 1978’s The Man Machine in its full entirety. Despite being a huge fan, I wasn’t expecting much. “How cool could it possibly be?” I, a fool, asked myself as I walked into Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown LA. I knew they were going to be standing in front of their trademark podiums pressing buttons. What I didn’t know was how that was going to make me feel. I love the crowd coming in at 0:26 when the beat starts, and again at 0:59, which is when I must assume that the curtain fell to reveal The Robots. If you don’t know this entire album, you haven’t yet lived. Please listen to all of it.
Electricity
Midnight Star
“You got my head all wired up”
This was the start of this mix; it was the root my working Data/Geordi fan mix for forever, aka the “DaForge” mix to those of us with excellent taste. You may recognize Midnight Star from “No Parking On The Dance Floor,” their entire catalog is full of funky computer hits.
Human Being
Jane Inc.
“Accentuate my structure”
A quite hard synth and light drums anchor this track, which came across as a lovely surprise in some of my explorations for this playlist.
Get A Little
Patrick Cowley
Yes, this song has been on a few of my past mixes, including last month’s. To that I say, mind your business and get your ass on the dance floor. Patrick Cowley may be most known for his production work with San Francisco dance legend Sylvester (You Make Me Feel, etc.), but his solo work stands on its own as manual/physical synth excellence. Cowley died of AIDS in 1982, another bright light stolen from us.
Faster Than The Speed Of Love
Georgio Moroder
No synth-heavy mix is complete without the Italian stallion of synth, the techno-grandfather himself. Sorry about the poor transition but this entire album is a flow worth experiencing in full.
Desire
Future World Orchestra
If you’ve ever wanted to see a 1980’s track suit dripped out cartoon-looking white guy from the Netherlands playing about $70,000 worth of synthesizers, look this video up on YouTube. Big thanks to the Pop Overbite TikTok account for helping me discover this duo.
10 Out Of 10 (feat. Kylie Minogue)
Oliver Heldens, Kylie Minogue
Continuum music lovers and long time Kylie fans rejoice; we have less than a month before we get an entire new record. Biting my hands waiting for TENSION, which is out on September 22nd. Love the timeless-yet-90’s feel of this soon to be classic.
Get On Up And Do It Again
Suzy Q
No clue the story of this band (I believe they’re Canadian?) but this one’s been on my “get it going” playlist for a while
Lovelife
Phoenix
Always been a fan of Phoenix, especially when they get back to their synth roots. I don’t think this album (Ti Amo) had a major hit off it, certainly nothing like 2009’s ‘Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix,’ which is unfortunate as there are some fantastic sounds on here.
I’ve Got Your Image
Cameo
This was sampled by Queen Latifah’s 2003 ‘Better Than The Rest.’ The titular line made me think of Seven’s eidetic memory, and it was time for a slow jam.
She Blinded Me With Science
Thomas Dolby
No relation to Dolby sound systems, but there may as well be with this 1982 classic that remains unlike anything else. Check out the video if you’re not familiar.
Data
Shook
I’m not terribly familiar with this artist, who’s based in the Netherlands, but the way he handles a synth works for me.
The Robots - 2009 Remaster
Kraftwerk
Again, I will point out that this album was released in 1978. The live version of this song also hits hard, if you’re so inclined to check out any of Kraftwerk’s live work.
You Are In My System
The System
Smooth techno robot funk, just the way I like it. No recollection of how I came across this hit other than the algorithm recognizing my exquisite taste.
Phantom
Justice
If Daft Punk is the robot rock dressed up on the dance floor, Justice is what you get at 3am after everyone is either wasted or high out of their mind, finding a way (any way!) to keep the party going. Never before or since have I encountered a record that scratched this particular sonic itch for dirtied up, fuzzed out synths continuing to deliver danceable, on the beat hits. If Daft Punk’s “Discovery” plugged us in, 2007’s “Justice” stripped our wires and started sparking them together. Ugh. I could go on about how much I love this record for a very long time.
Work Out Tonight
Ultraflex
I don’t have much to say about this Norwegian/Icelandic duo, other than keep party rocking, y’all.
Gettin’ To The Good Part
Herbie Hancock
What do you say about a legend whose work spans multiple genres, executed flawlessly? Not much, but 1980’s Herbie Hancock showcases his ability to seamlessly fit in with any and all new trends. You know more of his work than you think you do through samples and film, but you can always get to know him better.
Start Computer
Shook
It’s not very often that I hear a song that takes me back to the ebullient joy I felt in 2001 upon hearing Daft Punk’s ‘Discovery’ in full for the first time, but this song touches the vocoder-loving places within me.
Luminescent
Poppy Baskcomb
Baskcomb hails from the UK and I look forward to digging more into her work. Always a fan when a pop song chooses to anchor itself around an uncommon word.
Night Cruiser
Deodato
There seem to be a few different Deodatos but I’m assuming this is the Brazilian musical artist, as I hear those influences present here. Unsurprisingly, a great tune to jam around in your car at night, pretending you’re in a cyberpunk movie.
Master Rocker
Bernard Wright
This album is an instant classic, funky in all the right ways, with a touch of technological that anchors it firmly in time and place.
Sometimes
Les Rythmes Digitales
Don’t have much information about this 1999 album, but I would believe if you told me it was either from much earlier or much later. Always been a fan of music that is both faithful enough and innovative enough to be placed in any time period.
One More Time / Aerodynamic (live)
Daft Punk
My robot boys. If they ever return from retirement, bet that I will be spending my life savings and then some to see Daft Punk live. I have been a Daft Punk fan since 2001, and I am so grateful to exist at the same time as this duo. Listening to Discovery when it came out is an experience in time that I will never forget. I had tried to listen to this album when it came out, but I wasn’t yet advanced enough in my music appreciation to enjoy them live. The first time I heard the transition between songs, every hair on my body stood on end. I want few things more than a Daft Punk reunion tour, but this and bootlegs will have to suffice for now.
Messages From The Stars - Sped Up
The Rah Band
First encountered this song in a twitter exchange about DaForge; it’s not often that a song sounds just as good sped up as it does in the original speed.
Nobody But You
The Apples In Stereo
The first time I heard this song, I was working at Nordstrom, where you could call the operator (even as an employee) and ask for them to tell you the song. The swooping ‘you’s’ at the end are what spurred me into action. I wrote down the name of this song on a pastry bag, and this album has not left me since. It is a warm hug from outer space.
Translight
Breakbot
Eagerly awaiting a new album from Breakbot like any day now. The instrumentals remain undefeated.
Chaos - Laura van Dam Remix
Andrew Bayer, Run Rivers, Laura van Dam
I’m not terribly familiar with anyone here, but this song is a great way to draw me in to a lovely, sonically spacious and danceable remix.
Spotlight
Kylie Minogue
Heartbroken that there isn’t an extended mix of this yet (the DISCO extended mixes are still worth checking out), as it remains one of my favorite tracks from 2020’s incredible DISCO. Only the queen of pop could record an album like this in quarantine. Legends only!!!!
You Put A Charge In My Life
Brainstorm
Whoever makes me a fan vid of Geordi and Data being ‘very close friends’ to this is gonna eventually get a giant hug and possibly (okay, definitely) dinner. No clue what’s happening on the cover, but who doesn’t want to love an alien? Please be for real.
One Hot Love - 2018 Remaster
Makoto Matsushita
I knew nothing of Japanese City Pop until my Spotify started feeding it to me, and I’ve become obsessed with these oh-so-smooth tracks that remain danceable and sharp. A true mood, a vibe, a way to turn around any bad day.
Messages From The Stars
The Rah Band
And to close out the mix, enjoy the song in all its 1980s synthed out, original speed glory, still grooving and moving, a hit in either tempo.
That’s the mix, enjoy! Keep robot rocking and technological trancing🤖

Hoping to finish AC Valhalla before Mirage comes out, but my god is it a slog. It has to be the worst AC game i've ever played (and ive played them all).
The trampling over history. (i know Ac games arent totally accurate, the 30 second rule of 'can i google info about this fact in 30 secs' is normally used by the devs when writing about stuff. But this game takes the piss.)
*Some of it so far was unpleasant to play honestly, like the Briton/Mercia section. (It's a Welsh castle so every 5 seconds there must be a dragon statue????? and oh dear gods giving the blood eagle to Rodri The Great was offensive.)
*Plus the glossing over of how the Vikings (Dane/Norse invaders) were, showing them to be mostly heroic folk, the Saxons welcomed...yeah no.
See Viking income was determined through 2 main sources...trade and slavery. Aka if they couldn't take slaves from a community, they'd trade with them.
Slavery was a MASSIVE commodity to the vikings. Eivor and Sigurd would have had loads with their status. But slaves, or thralls as they were called, are barely even mentioned or used as small plot points (Odyssey, for its more fantastical nature, at least worked stories into the negative sides of Spartan and Athenian culture. )
I understand making Eivor's clan a nice one, with them not killing everyone in a raid, inc the monks and civilians. Eivor has to be hero after all...not like usual Vikings, because raids were also how Vikings easily got those thralls....Monks and peasants couldn't fight back.
*The Anglo Saxons are shown time and time again as weaker, unable to fight and pathetically voiced*. This is playing into the stereotype that Vikings were better warriors, when in fact they lost as much as they gained when they invaded. Yorvic, the most famous Viking settlement was gained and lost many times.
( *Dont get me started on the TERRIBLE voice acting of Npcs in this game...jeezus, they are like bad cartoons voices. They are so over the top and hammy, they often take you out of the story they are trying to tell.)
Then there is the dreadful research they did for Britain.
*The awful wildlife mistakes - giant lethal snakes ! The UK has one venomous snake, the Adder, that only if you are allergic or a child, would it be a problem and they are small and like to hang out on grasslands, not coiled with raised heads like cobras, sitting in wait in pots (They obviously just reused the model from Origins/Odyssey.)
*The countryside in game is full of only grey squirrels. Those were introduced in the 19th century! Before that ONLY red squirrels, our native species existed in Britain. Black bears never ever existed on British soil and brown bears went extinct around 500ad! I get wanting wildlife threats in the countryside but you already have wolves and lynxes which were native on British soil. Why make more up?
*Lunden is smaller than Colchester or Lincoln in map size. Lunden was MASSIVE even back then. It was the biggest city in England at the time. (It made me so sad seeing the incredible Roman ruins in the game, thinking what a game set during the Roman empire could have been like. Could have had Boudica and the sacking of Colchester!)
*Then the mechanics in the game are weaker than the previous. for example, for some reason they took away the ability to craft arrows. now you can only find or buy them. WHY??? Vikings could craft arrows....
*The charm of the games is missing in this one too, because the writing is so poor compared. I played the Odyssey/Valhalla crossover and the Odyssey part was a joy to play. Kassandra had charm and the interaction with her friends was natural and i frankly was teared up at the end because it was written well and i loved seeing her interact with Eivor, though the latter was an immature brat till the end. (Now we need Kassandra meeting other Assassins, like...AMUNET.) *The Intelligence is missing in the writing, in that the bad guys are telegraphing who they are long before the 'surprise' reveal to the point it's boring.
*The humour in the game falls flat so often. it feels forced with the 'comedy' world events hardly making me laugh. Mainly due to the again terrible voice acting.
I just pray Mirage is better written with less shit humour, more integrity to walking alongside historical fact rather than trammelling over it and BETTER Npc voice acting.
I certainly wont be bothering with any of the paid for dlc for Valhalla.
