spoilers for chalice of the gods
chalice of the gods thoughts (after five chapters) : the start feels like a short story rather than a full novel. its been a long time since ive immersed myself with official content that it might be age but something about the style feels different? slightly grating but it might be the heat tonight
i do like the official trio being back again though. it is interesting that that the reccomendation letters come from Percy being born and are caused by Zeus himself. (that point isnt bought up as much in fandom anymore so this is a nice bringing back to roots sort of thing). Also the gods being unhelpful thats still a running theme, and Percy's own bitterness (not quite, I think they are grating to him is a better way to describe) is on display here) It is also interesting that Percy says that his once could have been appointment to immortality was "being offered a minor godship. I hadn't picked up on that before but honestly that makes sense. He also describes his choice as "choosing systematic change" which i found funny. PAY YOUR CHILD SUPPORT OLYMPUS
At this point there isnt any indication of Annabeth trying to get into New Rome (although that might be something i have just missed or it is assumed knowledge). annabeth's school being a school of design is wonderful im quite happy for her!! (you can tell that re:dracula has been a main focus of mine i lapse into formality often as of late)
i skimmed over the bit with paul and percy's family so idk if there was anything there i need to reread that.
in terms of expectation for the rest of the plot - slightly concerned about the fact that Ganymede's quest seems like a rather large one and Percy needs 3 reccomendation letters but then again this is also a Novel rather than a short story which i keep feeling like. lets see then

greywaren: an initial review
finished greywaren and i feel so flat??? like
that was a shit resolution
barely any plot points were tied up
the whole nial lynch redemption really pissed me off because the fact that niall loved declan all along shouldn't negate the way declan felt all these years and the fact all this was what it took for declan to go back loving this man what
ALSO MOR AND FENNIAN LIVING AT THE BARNS IN THE END mor wanted to kill ronan?????????? ike declan doesnt take offese to that IT ALL FEELS SO WRONG ////
MATTHEW???? MATHEWW MY BELOVED WAS ODNE DIRTY LIKE hes just WALKED BACK??? where's the complexity of mister impossible?????? where's the true conversations about being dreamt and the implications of that. we ahs that lovely scene in mister impossible where mathew is rightfully pissed because hes dreamt and lied to and in greywaren we had matthew pissed because of the whole sweetmetal thing BUT IT NEVER GETS TOUCHED ON AGAIN?????? AT ALLLLL????? like he goes with bryde and like roasts him and then falls asleep and then just WALKS BACK SKIPS TO 4 YEARS LATER????
also sick of the whole person/thing being dreamt used as a catch all plot device ITS EVERYWHERE it seems to really serve no purpose anymore like thematically EVERYONE IS DREAMT NOW I GUESS at least ronan didn't end up dreaming himself
there isnt the lingering effects of their actions the consequences of the past yknow
hennessy and ronan weren't responsible for the apocalyps -  the only brown guy was who was built up to be a major villain at all and was like mentioned like a bit in the first book to establish a motivation for carmen farook lane liek??? the moderators did not deserve that much screentime kavinsky was more interesting than nathan
also i really hate epilogues with time skips that arent usually done well i  would have prefered a couple of months late thing so we can see the work in progess happiness this feels too neat with a bow feels like something that would be a short story
JORDAN HENNESSY DESERVED MORE PAGE TIME
but like the carmen and hennessy stuff was great tho
tldr.:book was rushed , so many things were just magically fixed and restored and i would have preferred a harder slope, jordeclan wedding best bit Matthew deserved better , declan deserves better and honestly SO MID and disappointing  gonna reread mister impossible to regain my sanity

chaos in the form of me tlaking bout lycanthropy and chronic illness -----------------------------------
LYCANTHROPY AND CHRONIC ILLNESS MAN WAS IT A VIBE
FRIEDNSHIP
DISCORD / SOCIAL MEDIA DONE WELL
LIKE PEOPLE SPEAKING TAMIL (thatsme thatsme thatsme thatsme thatsme thatsme)
anyway  Onto the Review
Spice Level: 0 -
Intial Rating: 4.5/5 stars
If I were to ever reccomend anyone a friendshippy book - this would be on my list. thats a compliment. this book has soemthing  that ive been looking in a book for a long time - lrealness mixed in with the almost realness werewolves and the main character not being white not really a massive OMG LETS EXPLAIN MY CULTURE THING but it being normal bc it is -
this is really chaotic soz
But for real this book - meade me feel things and made me feel things in a good way.  They way they portrayed Brigid and Priya’s relationship - Priya’s struggles with her illness they all felt true and things thhat could happen to somebody. Brigid and Priya felt like actual freiends who would die for one another and were able to survive through the bad and the good parts of their relationship and be able to forge a connection that could only come from crazy moments where everything felt like you had found  molten marbeled swirls of lava and all you want to do is hide away formt he pain but you have to face it. the lava cools and you can see the traces of it forever more but you have learned you are better people bc of it .
this book is now a comfort read now and im glad to be alive to see it
P.S Priya is Sri Lankan and you cannot stop me

middlegame is making me feel things in that inexplicable way that good book and the sky does when it feels like a painting , feels  like a filter but with a grid on it yknow
most important its fueling my need to write - hopefully saying this outloud and making it real does not stifle this urge as if that book has taught me anything making something real is the most important thing you can do

a outpour of love for Reflecting on the Names of Allah
i got Reflecting on the Names of Allah as a gift a while ago and honestly honestly ITS SO GOOOD
made me cry honestly
like the layers in Allah's names , and the explanation of those names and how they manifest is written so well , it feels easily accessible which made it even more so potent
even better the chapters don't have to be read in order which means you can come back read a chapter about a certain name in isolation which certainly uplifts the value (not that isnt valuable otherwise it does however make it more accesible and applicable to daily life)
it provides ways we can live with these names too and a list of duas at the back it really is so great
Jinan Yousef , the author as well has many articles about Allah's names online so if you cannot afford the book (it is around 30-50 dollars last i checked online) there are works by her that you can also read which go into Allah's names
just i love this book so much

Red White and Whole - a initial review
hey Red White and Whole made me cry. perhaps its the fact that Tamil words so familiar to me are sprinkled in or it captures that very nebulous love that South Asian parents give , so hard to put into words. It very much shines bright with this young girls struggle a tale as old as time )or colonialism or immigration(  of being stuck between the land you were born in and the land of your forefathers and your blood. It is very much a love letter to those who came before us and we who live after and it doesn't diminish either side of the argument or struggle . it is very much whole

Pride and Prejudice - an initial review
🌶Spice Level 🌶: 0 -makes sense for the time period
✨ ✨ ✨- ✨: 3-4 / 5 stars
Honestly... finished this in a night and stayed up until 2 . Well worth it. I loved the whole enemies to lovers relationship between Lizzie and Darcy and the whole second half of the book was where it really picked up for me after the whole reformation of darcy and the drama of lydia. I did not really understand Lizzie’d gripes abotu Darcy at the start mainly cause of the way their were talking but after a while I understood the gist.  I think the whole Jane and Bingley situatuon was very drawn out - and perhaps could have been resolved quicker. Also really hate Wickham gold digger he is.
