this shot where zoro was watching nami. someone explain to me why did my brain interpret this shot as Zoro guarding his emotions now, after nami already betrayed them. now, as opposed to nami guarding her emotions the entire time she sailed with the boys. Zoro could tell she was hiding something, but never knew it was a Luffy betrayal of this caliber.

why did i read this scene as Zoro internally ignoring every memory where he felt "Hey she's OK. Maybe I can work with her." why did it feel like he's compartmentalizing their teamwork and the strange dream he had that she left them. Zoro can see that Luffy is entirely involved in persuading her back and possibly decided he's in charge of being emotional. As his first mate, I need to keep a level head.

this scorpio son of a bitch (affectionately) put his emotional walls up.

She's the same person who betrayed Luffy. She stole Luffy's map, which Luffy needs to fulfill his dream. If that gets compromised, Zoro's own promise with Luffy is as good as gone too. He's guarding his emotions now; don't look me in the eye and tell me he wasn't upset with himself for taking his guard down and learning to trust Nami (Luffy as mediator or not).

I didn't watch the anime. I learned second hand that any zoro + nami content is few and far between. and even I felt catharsis at seeing her hug him + usopp sorry sanji you'll get that hug at season 2

With that, he turns and heads back inside, slamming the door behind him.

“When was this vote done?” Syd inquires, reminding us all that she is still there, “because I don’t remember it.”

“You weren’t there,” Zillah tells her, “though I’m sure we all know what you would have voted in favor for.”

“You know," she chuckles lowly, "I don’t remember signing up to a damn //democracy//.”

“I’m sure you would feel differently if people were more prone to vote with you,” Rahim mumbles.

“I wouldn’t care if everyone agreed to lick my –”

“Let’s not,” Amari shouts, and though Sydero does stop that line of expression, she continues as if not hearing Amari.

“The point is. I don’t care. You’re the one who needs to be liked to get his fucking willy wet.

“You’re just mad that we received what we've been searching for,” Rahim sighs, “can you ever be happy? Content?”

She recoils in disgust, “first off, stop acting like you know me, it’s disgusting. Secondly, no. I refuse to be happy about some backward ass deal that was done behind all our backs, including yours. You’re being toyed with and you’re fine with that? Are you truly or is this just your way of trying to make the best of it all?”

so how are we feeling about the inevitable end of the golden age of piracy being mirrored by the end of the 'golden age' of the crew of the Revenge?

It's no accident the crew's been slowly splintering this whole season, even as they're mostly happier, healthier and more cohesive than ever. The best part is, we can't stop it!

The Swede's in his Unaccountably Hot era with Spanish Jackie, Buttons is a fucking seagull (!?). Olu, Jim and Archie were on the very edge of peacing out were it not for Zheng Yi Sao's ships being unfortunately quite combustible.

And our dear, dear Blackbeard, who has been nigh on desperate to escape the life from the start. Sure, this fishing boat stint won't last, but I'd be very much surprised if the feelings went anywhere afterwards.

The Revenge crew as an allegory for piracy's end is so good! It's gradual, it's piecemeal, it's unpleasant to watch but we know it's going to happen anyway, it's unstoppable, damn. Damn, I love it so much.

i think its interesting that throughout all of ep 6 we can see stede and ed like sharing a connection but they are taking it slow. they are just having small moments together where they are together and enjoying each others company.

then of course Ned Low shows up and ruins everything by capturing and torturing the crew and he says many things to rile up both stede and ed who still havent like fully reformed their relationship and trust for eachother and it probably alights all their insecurities about their relationship plus they had to watch each other get tortured and almost die and after he chooses to kill ned stede is obviously shaken up both from killing a man and all of the shit he just went through and hes vulnerable and scared and lightly traumatized probably and ed goes to check on him and stede is just is a horrible headspace and he falls back on his old ways and acts on a whim by grabbing ed and pushing him up against the wall

and ed didnt have any better of a night than stede did, getting tortured and watching your lover get tortured fucking sucks and hes just as in a horrible headspace as stede and so he also acts on a whim and lets stede escalate and they kiss and then they have sex

and everything seems great between them the next morning but suddenly ed is throwing away his leathers—okay pretty sudden but maybe he was already planning to—and then ed is sharing how stede was kinda the one who saved his life when he almost died—okay kinda intense conversation over breakfast but maybe he was already planning on telling him and decided it was a good opportunity—and then later stede shares how he wrote ed letters expressing his love and threw them into the sea—and okay maybe they just felt like really sharing this morning—and then later at jackies ed is telling jackie about how it might not be a phase that he just wants to be a regular guy—and wow okay thats cool maybe hes just been thinking about it for a while—and then stede lights a man on fire who wants to kill him—and woah stede um kinda harsh you didnt even hear the man out—and then stede and ed meet up and stede got his ear pierced—thats cool unplanned but cool—and then ed tells stede that he took a job as a fisherman and is leaving—

and then suddenly you realize theyve fallen back into their old patterns of acting on whims again

suddenly they aren't taking things slow, suddenly they are sharing intimate things with each other with 0 apprehension

they are right back where they were in season 1 right down to ed wanting to get away from pirating like his life depends on it and stede wanting nothing more but to be a pirate and live out his fantasy

and this time they fight and ed outright says that things are going too fast and part of it is that he just wants to leave and he is scared but he feels like this because yeah

they are taking it too fast

they suddenly—on a whim—decided to deepen their relationship way faster than they should have entirely on accident just by—on a whim—deciding to have sex when they were both in a vulnerable state and needed comfort

i really dont think it was an accident that episode 4 decided to spell out for us that Ed and Stede are whim prone people. it wasnt just an explanation for why last season ended the way it did with them splitting up. it was an omen for what was eventually going to happen with them in these episodes. the inevitability that they were eventually going to succumb to their true natures if not given the proper space and time to work out the shit between them, if insecurities and expectations got piled onto them again.

#kinda rambled but ive just been thinking about this since i watched 6&7 #like i cant but be seeing the parallels in what was going on with them in ep 7 to what was going on with them in ep 9 #like i havent seen it really talked about yet that ed was in his leathers all throughout ep 6 without seemingly any issue #and then suddenly in episode 7 hes wanting to get rid of them and be back in regular guy clothes and distancing himself from being a pirate #just like in episode 9 where as soon as ed could he was getting rid of any trace of being blackbeard and then making plans to run away #and stede in episode 7 is living out his fantasy of being a famous pirate and getting all the attention hes always wanted #and it kinda parallels how in episode 9 stedes main goal after getting to sent to the pirate rehabilitation camp is to escape #he wants to immediately go back to being a pirate and live out his fantasy #and its not exactly the same but its the episodes mirror each other enough that the parallel is kind of obvious i think #and i think the fight in episode 7 is exactly like the conversation they have on the beach in episode 9 but this time they actually do figh #they miscommunicate again in the exact same way as before but this time ed wants to run away on his own and leave stede behind #because now stede is embodying the pirating life and ed is trying so desperately to run away again #and all stede is hearing is that ed doesnt want him #whoops thats like another whole paragraph in the tags #sorry i am like ill over them #just rotating these guys in my head #ofmd #ofmd s2 #ofmd spoilers #ofmd s2 spoilers #our flag means death #edward teach #blackbeard #stede bonnet #ofmd season 2 #ramblings #long post

love how we all expected all the hermits to be super generous towards etho when he came back and give him a bunch of stuff to get back on his feet but instead he gets pranked 3 times by 4 different people in the span of 15 minutes and also gets relentlessly bullied and shamed by beef for his embarrassing RNG . the hermits were all like Oh look etho’s finally back let’s make his life a living hell <3 awesome

#he wouldnt want it any other way i think #im finally home from my trip after a week #just watched ethos episode #ough thinking back to like season 3-4 when he was just a casual hermit and people were more respectful and intimidated by him #and now hes like. properly part of the group #it makes me happy as a longtime viewer watching him do primarily singleplayer stuff for like. 6 years #its been an interesting shift seeing him go from being known as That Redstone Guy with the 500 episode singleplayer series #to being known as A Hermit #ITS REALLY HEARTWARMING OKAY. maybe its the mindcrack nostalgia #its hard 2 articulate why its so awesome unless youve been watching since before season 7 #rio posts

the entirety of BFDI so far is 16:10:39 (hours, minutes, seconds). assuming the average sleep time is 8 hours, then that's a little more than typical waking hours

#wheucto #wheucto speaks #binging the entirety of BFDI in one sitting (from BFDI 1a to TPOT 6) is. possible. but barely #unless you like. stay up a long time_ later on this is just. going to be impossible #that is if you want to stay healthy sleep schedule-wise #and so far we only have 6 TPOT episodes. considering we have 35 (i think) contestants_ 2 contestants eliminated #if that stays true until. uhhhh. let's say an avg of 3 members per team for merge (or first merge)#3 * 6 = 18 #that's almost half of 35. so it would take 17 or 18 episodes to get there if. i'm right which is unlikely #now if 1 contestant is eliminated after 1st merge that would take 15 for final three 16 for final two #if the same stays true (until final four/two) then it'd be 7ish for final four/three or 8 for final two #17 + 7 + 1 for the smallest estimate. that's 25.#each episode is about 25 minutes (assuming trends stay the same) so it'd be 625 minutes more (or 10 hours 25 minutes)#that is_ assuming that 1. tpot doesn't get canceled 2. 1st merge will happen when teams have 3 contestants avg #we'll need to wait about... 3 to 5 years (if the show gets completed) to see how many episodes (and how long they are) there'll be #(since assuming each episode comes in a month + half times that by 25 for a little over 3 years as the lower estimate and 5 as just. a vibe #- based guess)#if 625 mins is correct then it'd be over 26 hours long also known as more than a day. so. binge-watching all of bfdi is probably impossible #- when it all gets completed (assuming there isnt ANOTHER season after tpot. and who knows?)

So according to imbd Rashid's actor is in 6 episodes. Which means we either don't get any Rashid in the final episode and that dream was the last thing we saw of him until season 2 (in which case I might go insane) OR he is revealed to actually be another character and so he's just no longer "Rashid" after episode 6. Hm...
