Ronald Bilius “Ron” Greengrass (née Weasley) (b. 1 March 1980), is a English pure-blood wizard, the sixth and youngest son of Arthur and Molly Weasley (née Prewett). He is the younger brother of William, Charles, Percy, Fred and George, and the elder brother of Ginny. Along with his siblings, he was raised at the Burrow, on the outskirts of Ottery St. Catchpole, Devon.

Ron began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1991 and was sorted into Slytherin House, the first in centuries for both of his parents’ respective families. This resulted in a protracted deterioration of his relationship with his immediate family. He quickly became friends with Tracey Davis, the duo bonding over being the outcasts of their year. Later, the two would befriend cousins Daphne Greengrass and Theodore Nott. Together, the quartet would traverse many adventures together.

After being coerced into taking the Dark Mark, Ron found himself at the forefront of numerous battles and skirmishes in the Second Wizarding War. Some battles included the Attack on Greengrass Manor (1996), Attack on the Bones Family Home (1996), Skirmish at Owler Tor (1997) and the Battle of the Seven Potters (1997). Ron was named prefect in his fifth year at Hogwarts, alongside then girlfriend Daphne Greengrass.

He skipped his last two years of school to go on the run after being disowned by his family for having the dark mark. He would eventually seek refuge with his great-great aunt Muriel Prewett, who to prove his loyalty to his family, amputated his own arm that had the dark mark. Later, Emmeline Vance—who was rescued by Ron at the Skirmish at Owler Tor—inducted Ron alongside the Greengrass sisters, Muriel Prewett, Percy Weasley, Audrey Honywood, Amelia Bones, Tracey Davis and Theodore Nott into the Order of the Phoenix as secret members.

After they both turned 18 years of age, Ron and Daphne got married on 20 March 1998, in hopes that they could share their love completely should they not survive the war. The wedding was a small affair located at the Prewett Family Home, officiated by his brother Percy and attended by the hidden members of the order. Due to Ron’s thoughts on his disownment, he took Daphne’s name, becoming Ronald Greengrass.

Operating as secret order members, Ron, Daphne, Tracey and Theodore helped escort numerous muggleborn families, squibs and other persecuted folk to seek refuge in magical and non-magical France. He alongside with the order fought in the Battle of Hogwarts in 1998, during which he lost relatives and friends including Astoria Greengrass, Tabby the House Elf, Theodore Nott, Tracey Davis and Emmeline Vance. With Astoria’s death devastating Ron immensely.

For a period of time, Ron was believed to be dead by the public and his family—due to his unknown escape of a blasting curse that Bellatrix Lestrange shot at him—until he was revealed to be alive by Molly Weasley’s Charmed Clock that indicated that he had been moved to St. Mungo’s Hospital to recuperate from his injuries sustained at the Battle of Hogwarts.

After the war, Ron remained in St. Mungo’s for almost three months to recover. He had lost an eye, and had chunks of his left leg that were blasted away from his duel with Bellatrix. Ron reconciled with his family during his time in recovery and was welcomed back into the family. Following his release from St. Mungo’s, he was soon arrested by aurors for being a suspected Death Eater and was sent to Azkaban pending his trial. He was later released after his trial revealed him innocent—thanks to witness accounts by Amelia Bones and memories from Daphne and Percy.

Due to Muriel’s death, in her will, Ron was named the Prewett heir and the legal guardian of his second cousin Mafalda Prewett, whilst she stayed in Britain—Something Ron had come to enjoy. Ron would eventually move into the Prewett Family home with Daphne. He would later take his old Chess mentor’s place as the Mentor and Sponsor of the Hogwarts Chess Club. He would later join his wife in maintaining her family’s Real Estate business. He would also serve a year working as a temporary Professor of Potions at Hogwarts. He and Daphne would later have two children named Astoria II and Nico Greengrass. He was also named the Godfather to his nephew Garett Weasley, his brother’s Fred Weasley’s and Hermione Granger’s eldest child.

If it weren't for her work in movies and on TV, Helen Hayes would probably be consigned to that limbo where celebrated stage actresses of the past like Sarah Siddons or Ellen Terry or Minnie Maddern Fiske reside. But Hayes won two Oscars -- one for this film and the other, 38 years later, for Airport (George Seaton, 1970) -- as well as Emmy, Grammy, and Tony awards, earning the distinction known by the acronym EGOT. The thing is, anyone who knows Hayes's work only from movies and TV may wonder why she is so famous. Neither The Sin of Madelon Claudet nor Airport (in which she plays a cute little old stowaway on a plane) nor her work on such TV series as The Snoop Sisters provides much of a clue as to why she was known as "The First Lady of the American Theater" and has a Broadway playhouse named after her. She spent the peak years of her career, from 1935 to 1956, primarily on stage, with only occasional films and TV appearances during that period. It was probably a wise move: She was already 30 when she followed her husband, Charles MacArthur, to Hollywood and made this film, her first talkie. (She had appeared in only a couple of silent films.) And while it won her the Oscar, and she followed it with a few more significant films, particularly Arrowsmith (John Ford, 1931) and A Farewell to Arms (Frank Borzage, 1932), it soon became clear to her that she was not cut out for film stardom. She was only five feet tall and although pleasant-looking, she was not especially pretty, and in a Hollywood that was looking for the next Greta Garbo or Marlene Dietrich, she was no glamour girl. She would have found herself competing with younger actresses like Bette Davis and Barbara Stanwyck for the plum dramatic parts. So it was back to Broadway and success. Even so, she made her reputation in old-fashioned plays that don't get revived much anymore, like Lawrence Housman's Victoria Regina, Anita Loos's Happy Birthday, and Jean Anouilh's Time Remembered. Although she did play Amanda in a revival of Tennessee Williams's The Glass Menagerie, the revolution in theater that Williams helped bring about took place after she had gone into semi-retirement. As for Madelon Claudet, it's a creaky vehicle at best, based on a play by Edward Knoblock that MacArthur and an uncredited Ben Hecht helped whip into shape after it had been filmed under the title The Lullaby and previewed to a disastrous reception. Hayes had already gone on to work on Arrowsmith, and shooting the new material had to wait until she was through with that film. Even so, Hayes is not particularly convincing as a French farm girl who is left pregnant by a caddish American (Neil Hamilton) and becomes the mistress of a jewel thief posing as an Italian count (Lewis Stone). It's only later, when she goes to jail for ten years as the thief's accomplice, then turns to prostitution to earn the money to put her son (Robert Young), who thinks she's dead, through medical school, that Hayes demonstrates her skill at suffering and pathos.

( you probably get these a lot but...here i am)

i've read antithesis about 3 times, i always stopped reading around chapter 66 because it was too painful, but it's one of my favorite works in fanfiction. i convinced my sister to read it (it's like...the second fanfiction she's ever read) and she's absolutely engrossed, and today is the day i finally finished reading this tragic masterpiece. (now there's a void in my heart).

what i mean to say is...thank you (for the angst, for the drama, for the comedy, for everything). i don't know what to say or even how to say it, this is such a humane and tragic story that touched me so much that i can't even formulate a semblance of what i really want to say and what it means to me. so, thank you.

oftentimes i found myself so entranced in your writing that i feel like i didn't register the best pieces of writing and identified what could be some quotes to add to my all time favorites.

So, I got this Ask a few days ago, and I’ve been sitting on it and looking at it constantly.

First- no. The number of messages never EVER take away from the meaning behind them. I could receive four messages, or four hundred, and I treasure each and every one. You are an individual with completely unique experiences and views. You deserve to be treated with kindness and respect, not thrown into a list of messages from nameless people.

Reading the story isn’t easy for some people. It’s all a matter of perspective, and how we can connect with it and how we can hurt from it. I am so proud of you for finishing it, and finding meaning at the end.

There are...sections? Of the story that I am incredibly proud of. Pointing out quotes from memory is impossible based on the insane length of the fic.

So I tried to find individual portions that meant a lot to me, as an author and writer. I have a style of writing that I started to refine much further in the story, which appears often in the end. Surrealism and lyrical twist that is more akin to poetry than standard literature. Those lines are the ones I’m most proud of.

A few more popular quotes are those I still enjoy.

Truth be told, moments I actually enjoy appear in the middle and towards the end.

Ch. 36: "I could have been raised to kill Potter." Adrian tried again, desperate in his attempt to scare the man.

"You could have been," Remus agreed, with the faintest glimmer of sympathy, "And if you were, I would give you freedom to live away from expectations or requirements. I would give you an opportunity to follow what you want to do, and not what you were raised to do."

"It wasn't your fault Adrian," He repeated carefully, "and I'll tell you that every day for however long it takes for you to realize that. You weren't abandoned because of who you are. It wasn't your fault."

Ch. 37: He had never thought of her as someone with individual dreams and desires, an individual life that everyone would mourn and miss and remember.

She hadn't...she hadn't (or had she always been?) a person, in his eye. She was just an object, a possession of the wrong side…He had left her behind, left her lying in a pool of water too weak to stand or speak. He had turned his back on her and left her on the floor.

Ch. 38: The man's eyes were bulging, his hands were gasping against his torn and butchered chest.

"He is prey," Nagini simplified, "Prey are eaten."The man gasped something wetly, it sounded faintly like a plea.

What had he done. What had he done?

Ch. 40: "I know, I just...I do things on my own." Adrian paused, trying to elaborate but struggling with the words.

"Ah, I know how you feel." Remus smiled slightly, something nostalgic and yet so terribly pained, "We all have our own burdens to carry."

Ch. 40: Luna noticed, and she smiled something soft and sad."You know, I think you'd be a wonderful thestral.”

Ch. 44: She turned, opening her mouth and displaying saliva and venom soaked teeth, as long as dinner plates, "And do you, Cerastes, have anything to your name that make others cower? Or are you a hatchling child who dreams of prey far too large for his teeth."

"That's not true," Adrian shook his head in denial, knowing his face was flushing ugly with his anger. His scars itched and his eyes were burning and his nose was filled with disgusting snot.

"Are you crying?" Barty asked, sounding like he was going to burst out laughing, "as if the Dark Lord would find you useful!"

"Master," Lutain unhooked from Barty's leg, slithering across the distance, "Master that is not true,"

"It is," Adrian swallowed, a lump the size of a walnut was lodged in his throat.

Ch. 45: "That's why you wore this dress." he realized, speaking out loud as the epiphany struck him. "So people would stare at you. Instead of staring at me."

"People always stare at me," Luna offered dismissively, "I'm different and people don't like that. I think it scares them, like thestrals do."

Ch. 46: Luna smiled enchantingly, "Adrian you're good at spells."

"I'm really not," he automatically blurted.

Luna's eyes searched his, flickering from one back to the other, "Why are you arguing? Why do you think you're so...mediocre?"

"Because I am!" Adrian blurted, face feeling warm as he flushed against his will. Luna's spell faded out. She whispered it once more, squinting into his face as if looking for something in particular.

"I don't think you are," She confided, "I think you're brilliant."

Ch. 46: Adrian's throat moved three times as he nervously swallowed, "I...I'm not good enough n-"

"I'm afraid you're going to do something stupid for the approval of someone that doesn't matter."

Ch 50: "I tried, but the little demon went savage on Mundungus again, stabbed him with a fork and looked right happy with it." Sirius grimaced.

Ch. 50: "How was your summer?" Luna asked curiously. "You look terrible."

"You know, most times you're supposed to compliment me first." Adrian dryly commented, "It's wonderful to know you're so sweet."

Luna shrugged, "You look like something's eating you."

Ch. 50: Skylar's jaw flexed, twitching as he refused to look away from the window, "Cedric really...I saw Cedric die. I saw him die, and you saw someone die, right in front of you, years ago."

"I was young," Adrian swallowed, his throat felt dry, "I barely remember it."

Skylar gave a single bark of laughter, bitter and sharp, "You don't- you don't just...just forget about it."

"Yes you do." Adrian blurted, not even hearing the slightly pained whine in his voice.

Skylar looked haunted, "I...I remember his eyes. They...Merlin, his eyes."

"I don't think I'll ever forget it," Skylar admitted quietly, "What Cedric looked like. Laying there, on the grass. He, he was just...alive, and then… and then he wasn't."

"It wasn't your fault." Adrian spoke, his voice a hoarse whisper.

Ch. 54: “You’re not unlovable, silly.”

Ch. 56: “I could set this entire room on fire,” Adrian mused quietly. “I could burn this entire house down and kill you. burning people smell a lot like burning meat.”

Sirius realized, that he was afraid. He was quite afraid actually.

Ch 57.: Adrian stilled, pausing as if in thought. He looked at Remus with half lidded eyes, the yellow far too bright to be anything but alarming. "Do you like me, Remus?"

Remus felt as if he was mourning for the loss of something gone, which was impossible. Adrian was right there, but he felt so far away. He felt as if he had changed truly, as if something hideous had condemned him to something so foul, he had accepted it.

"Of course I do," Remus spoke, voice strained and distorted through his distress, "Adrian, you know I do. Why would you ever think I wouldn't?"

Ch. 58: "I thought I was insane." Adrian mused without much emotion, "Disturbed. Psycho. Spastic. Mad. Mental. Thick. Freak." Adrian's body twitched in a small spasm, "Loony." he practically hissed out.

Remus breathed through his nose carefully, "Who called that to you?"

"Nobody," Adrian murmured quietly, "Everyone. They think it, everyone does. Selwyn has a few screws loose. Selwyn is a freak."

Remus gently set aside the comb and scissors. He ignored the few scraps of hair, and instead slid forward slightly so that his weight was a nearby presence for Adrian.

"That isn't even my name," Adrian whined, shaking across his shoulders, "I- I just want to be good."

"You are good, Adrian." Remus assured him, "You're exceptional."

Ch. 60: "Oh I know," Adrian hummed back, carefree as if truly it was barely of importance, "my life is a tragedy. I think I hadn't cared to truly involve myself to my full capabilities. Now...now with a deadline, I think that It's time for me to step forward."

Ch 60.: "You love me," Adrian whined out like a dying animal. (Which, he supposed, he was).

Ch. 63: I know what it is like, to be unmade.I know what it is like, to be nothing.And through that, I know I am not.

Ch 64.: "I'm surprised you never noticed, in all honesty." Adrian mentioned with a wry smile, "after all, professor. I have my mother's eyes."

Ch 65.: For now, all Adrian had was himself.In the sweet smelling heather and deep earthy peat bogs out of sight, in the moonlit shadow of a moss covered mountain which towered over an isolated cobblestone road cut from the mountain itself; Adrian found peace.

Past Chapter 65...honestly, each chapter is filled with absolutely gorgeous one liners. I pulled out small quotes above that I found really stuck out to me, or had some sort of important meaning. It would be impossible to pull out every single quote, basically because it would take so much time.

DEFINING MOMENTS

Adrian is born and, for the first time, though not the last, he is lost. He is lost by a mother who made a mistake, though she would claim it to be anything but. He lives with a family who never expected him, but they love him nonetheless. He is doted upon, smiled and cooed at. He laughs at the magical sparks that fly over his head; he is enchanted by the world and everything in it. It is clear that everyone who meets him loves him. It can’t be another way. His Hogwarts letter comes and he won’t admit that he’s terrified.

Eleven is supposed to be a wonderful age, but he’s always been soft, affected by everything the world says or does. He goes onto the train, alone, trembling. He meets a boy and, little does he know, his world will be changed forever. They are quick friends, and then they are sorted into the same house. Adrian begins to think that this won’t be so bad. He’s seventeen and the world is at his fingertips. Everything is going splendidly. He has friends, he’s finishing up school any day now — his boyfriend is great, too (that same boy from the first day on the Hogwarts express). And then it comes crashing down. It’s an accident, they say, but it doesn’t matter. Adrian’s boyfriend is dead, and he’s utterly destroyed. He can’t do anything. He doesn’t finish school. He hardly leaves his room, he hardly eats. If sadness were a person, it would be Adrian. Twenty-one and he’s beginning to come out of his stupor. Living in sadness is no way to exist, but he’s known it for so long and it’s hard to be anything but. But he’s trying. That counts for something. He doesn’t know what the world is like anymore. Merlin, he doesn’t know what he himself is like anymore. He’s beginning to get the sense that so many things have changed, but that’s just how it goes.

THE ONES THAT MATTER

MARLENE & ALEXANDER: Having known from a young age that he has siblings that don’t know about him has been a weight he’s had to carry. Adrian knew that he was his mother’s greatest secret, but at times he wished he didn’t have to keep it. Sometimes, he longs to tell his siblings that they’re his and he is theirs. He wants them to care for him the same way he does them, and he wants the chance to know them. However, can’t even be sure that’s what they would want.

SEBASTIAN: Despite not remembering having met Sebastian, his mother later told him that he was there after his birth. There is something entirely strange about knowing that Sebastian was there but has little to no recollection of him. He wonders if he even suspects that there might be a child, let alone him. More so, he wonders if his brother feels the same eerie pull that he does every time they run into one another.

FLORENCE: While Florence was only his half sister, Adrian had never seen her that way. She was his family and he loved her unconditionally. Florence had always been there to lift him up, dust him off, and comfort him when he needed it. She was patient and loving, kind and supportive, and everything Adrian could have ever wanted out of a big sister. Family would always be important to him, and she even more so.

NARCISSA: Becoming friends with Narcissa had been entirely accidental, but she had become someone he could trust and rely on. Only a year younger, he met her through once while helping out Professor Sprout with the first years Herbology. They had become fast friends after that and he knew he could always count on her. Adrian had always been on the softer side, and she seemed to lift that up instead of using it against him.
