Every single one of you, no matter if you have watched A League of Their Own (2022) or not should watch this speech.
Abbi and Chanté beautifully highlighted the importance and impact of well done representation and how much it still matters. They talked so perfectly about the experience of community and fandoms and seeing your own experience and feelings mirrored. It is one of the best speeches I have ever seen (and it might make you cry).
In my headcanon of the second season Lupe amd Jess are better about teaching Esti English, although Lupe occasionally gets in trouble with Jess for teaching Esti naughty phrases, or teaching normal phrases just slightly off for maximum comedy effect.
Jess eventually recruits Carson and sometimes Sarge into doing versions of flashcards with Esti when she gets a bit better. And also has them help monitor whatever Lupe has taught her
When you and Marisol ran into me and Tommy, we were on a date. Really? Mhm-hm. [...] So you two...? We were on a date, yes. Is that weird? No. Absolutely not. [...] This doesn't change a thing between us. Okay? Good. That's a relief.
This is painfully hilarious. Amazon really said, well we can’t cancel another without enraging the sapphics but maybe if we just give them a small handful of crumbs? FOUR 💀
I’m tired of this shlt. Both this and The Wilds was a huge loss, due to the queer & BIPOC characters we were given only for them to be taken away.
There is nothing that viewers can do that is good enough to help the TV shows that they like. Not every show is going to be a massive hit but apparently it needs to be in order to get more than 10-20 episodes.
Everything is getting cancelled and then no one wants to watch anything because they know what's going to happen. It's a horrible and disappointing cycle.
when do we as sapphics, create our own streaming platform, filled with all the "canceled after one season" tv-shows and the "scrubbed from the internet" shows/films?? Because fed up with the corporate wlw homophobia 🤬
Our Flag Means Death for queering historical figures
Ted Lasso for showing how sports can connect us using humour and lots of heart
Orange Is The New Black and/or GLOW for being primarily about a big cast of diverse female characters
Gentleman Jack for historical lesbians
Pose for showing black queer history in a way that tugs at your heartstrings
then A League of Their Own (based on the movie of the same name) is the show for you! It's about group of almost only women-loving-women navigating sexism, racism and homophobia as they try to become successful professional baseballers during World War II, based on a true story, told with lots of humour but still giving appropriate weight to the heavier aspects of the story.
