“You have some queer friends, Dorothy,” she said.
“The queerness doesn’t matter, so long as they’re friends,” was the answer.

Every single one of you, no matter if you have watched A League of Their Own (2022) or not should watch this speech.
Abbi and Chanté beautifully highlighted the importance and impact of well done representation and how much it still matters. They talked so perfectly about the experience of community and fandoms and seeing your own experience and feelings mirrored. It is one of the best speeches I have ever seen (and it might make you cry).

So much about this show absolutely wrecks me but THIS.
and THIS
breaks me into a million pieces.

So many callbacks between the show and the movie. But this is the one that made me squee the loudest.

more headcanons because I'm bored and need better and cooler content (if ur reading please comment literally anything I want to see my outreach)
- Jess has literally the most messed up hands and legs humanly possible. She's broken all bones you could and is constantly telling the stories behind the breaks
-Lupe prays before she pitches, despite not being particularly religious. Sure, she was raised Catholic and got confirmed and everything, but she's just not that religious. (I feel EXTREMELY strongly about this) (if you watch the show she mutters something when she pitches)
- Esti goes to see Lupe about it one night, after she figures out Lupe's queer. Lupe promptly shits herself majorly and starts trying to cover for herself. ("No I'm-I'm not gay what? Who the fuck sa-" "It's okay, you know?") Lupe cries.
-Jess and Lupe promptly spend all of their money on completely pointless shit (after paying for the apartment) and turn up for their second season with coffee makers, a completely random assortment of books, and random other stuff that NOBODY needs in their life.
-Jess teaches Esti to swear first. Lupe doesn't know if she should be proud or disappointed.
-Carson shows up to Maybelle's a week after the season ends, eyes red. -"I just didn't know where to go I, He-" "SHAW!" Her and Charlie divorced. 'Belle looks after her for the off-season and if Jo is also there, Maybelle's youngsters hanging off of her broad shoulders in the peak of domesticity, Carson doesn't mention it to the other peaches.

This whole scene of the bar raid in A League of Their Own I think is one of the hardest for me to watch because of how real and painful it is but something really struck me on this rewatch.
Gretas face and composure.
Everyone is running, everyone is in panic, I mean look art Carsons face, hell even Joey looks in panic when the camera shows her. Greta however looks so calm and so is her voice, she doesn't immediately break out in panic. Throughout the whole scene her voice stays calm and level, she just does what needs to be done and the only time she is panicked is when she loses Jo, not because of what happened. Rather it's like she was prepared for this all along, almost like defeat, which in my mind is a million times more heartbreaking. It looks like this is not the first time she has experienced it so she went into this night of fun, almost prepared for it eventually going wrong.
It is such a painful thought.
