Another one to add to the list
It's always an amazing feeling when you find an author and every book you have read by them is just so good.
When I worked at bookstore, they would had free ARCs in the break room. I picked up one called "A Beginning at the End" by Mike Chen. It was about a huge pandemic wiping out most of the population and the main characters are just trying to survive when it comes back again.
Something that was interesting about this book is that I was reading it when the first reports of COVID was happening. I remember reading something like "It hit *major city* and then I saw that on the news that COVID hit *major city.* I thought that was wild.
Anyway, this did not deter me from reading more Mike Chen books. About a year or two later I read "Here and Now and Then" which was also amazing. I love time travel.
Then I think about two years ago I read "We Could Be Heroes" which I also greatly enjoyed.
I just bought like two weeks ago "A Quantum Love Story" which I fucking loved because time loops are amazing.
Currently, I am reading "Light Years from Home" because I noticed it was at my local library and its so good.
He also seemed to have written a Star Trek: Deep Space Nine book which might be interesting to read.
So yeah Mike Chen is an author I will keep an eye on because I love his books so much.

season one of supernatual is so funny to me. sam and dean will literally show up to the crime scene in some fuck ass flannels and dean is in his leather jacket and the cops are like "who the hell are you?" and dean will be like "oh, us? well we are obviously from the us fish and wildlife service who else could we possibly be???"
meanwhile theyre in the craziest outfits known to mankind with no badge or anything, so the cops will ask for their IDs and they'll hand them the most unconvincing fake id you'll ever see. the thing will be crumpled to no return and look like it was all hand written by a toddler and SOMEHOW THE COPS STILL BELIEVE THEM??
and then, they'll start questioning the victims family like "aw man :( I'm so sad for you :( that must be really hard :( so like what happened? and on a completely separate note, did you see anything? feel a temp drop? did you feel a cold spot? did you see something weird? like a creature mayhaps? like a ghost? did you see a ghost? do you believe in ghosts? please tell me it's a ghost?" like that's a totally normal line of questioning for a random drowning from two members of the us fish and wildlife service.

Started a new book today, "A Beginning at the End" by Mike Chen. I bought it a while back, because I read "Here and Now and Then" and really liked that one (I'm a sucker for time travel shenanigans).
And it's a plague novel.
It takes place 6 years after a devastating virus wiped something like 70 percent of the US, and we're following four people who survived.
Decided to look up the publication date:
Jan. 14, 2020

Even after all this time and awareness, it feels like asexuality is still not treated like a proper sexuality. Recently had a girl tell me that she was at a place where she ‘felt so asexual’ because all the other girls were so beautiful and guys were ignoring her because of it. She didn’t know I was asexual and I didn’t take offence (I know she didn't meant it in a malicious way) but it does feel uncomfortable that people are using ‘asexual’ in lieu of ‘unattractive' or 'lacking sexual appeal.' It's really giving 90's/early 2000's slang of using 'gay' to mean 'lame.' Even shows like Brooklyn 99 which took immense pride in being progressive with their comedy, had an episode where one of the characters says "Oh, and I'm sorry if we implied you're both asexual nerds who can only be friends with service animals."
I have mentioned this before also, when I talked about how I feel like people are more comfortable erasing the identities of canonical aro/ace characters in media but act like it's unacceptable with other sexualities... but it does feel like asexuality (and aromanticism tbh) are still not considered 'real' sexualities. In the case of shipping fictional characters, I understand there is nuance to that issue and so don't want to get into it, but it does kinda add to my point.
Why is it that people treat asexuality like it's not a sexuality? Why is it that when I come out to people I'm met with insistence that I'm wrong about my sexuality, that I'm 'self diagnosing' (it's not a medical condition), that I'm probably 'just inexperienced' or haven't 'met the right person' or have a hormone issue? Why can't people just accept that it's a sexuality like any other??

Knowing your chaotic dumbass friends so well that you feel confident in ordering a special vulture dimension set and custom graphic for an episode that has exactly zero to do with vultures is a love language unto itself.

demanding a series in the same vein (heh, vein) as Dexter/Hannibal wherein a prolific serial killer plays cat & mouse with the police--except the serial killer in question is a preteen schoolgirl. this would make for compelling television due to the fact that middle school frequently causes girls to become deranged, and more media should reflect this

"She's Gone"
This bad boy was started on the third of November, and finished on the seventh. In total, there are thirty panels (all of which were drawn separately).
A good chunk of N's dialogue near the end came to me after I did some improv to figure out what he should say. I have since dubbed it "N's Failure Monologue."
