Qualities:
Channeled song: Love Like You by Rebecca Sugar, from Steven Universe, Let My Baby Stay by Amandla Stenberg, & Just A Taste by Tinashe.
For the qualities that Felix looks for in his ideal partner - he would like someone who is creative, passionate, and nurturing. They could be shy or self conscious, something about them that's a bit anxious. Felix would be willing to learn his partner's love language and assure them that they are the only one they have his eyes on. I had tension in my forehead while shuffling and The Empress card has a ray of colors surrounding the character's head. After talking to @eddis-not-eeddis about Korean music, I thought I'd put together a list of Korean music that carried me through the last years of high school/first year uni :)
I listened to mostly kpop (and some r&b/indie/rap/alternative/pop rock) near the end of high school, but it became too tiring to listen to, and I became more interested in other genres of Korean music. I've linked a few of my favourite albums below, but most of those artistts have grown in name and (relative) fame since I began listening to them. Here are a a few more recommendations (some of which are smaller/lesser known artists, some of which have big presences in the industry):
Acoustic indie: OKDAL, Han All, Kim Na Young, Standing Egg, Lucid Fall, Sugarbowl, J Rabbit, Urban Zakapa
R&B: Zion.T, Zico, HYUKOH, Heize, GSoul, Ra.D, Crush, DEAN
Ballads: Ji Jin Seok, Park Hyo-shin, Jeong Sewoon, Kim Jin-ah, ONEW, Jung Seung Hwan, Paul Kim
Bands: Martin Smith, LUCY (they have a VIOLINIST !!!), The Rose
Indiepop/pop artists who branched out to different genres: Minseo, Chen, AILEE, BOL4, Sandeul, ONEW, Jonghyun, Monogram, Roy Kim, Lee Hi
Sam Kim's Sun and Moon was THE album of the year in grade 12. Every single track on this album is memorable. Sam Kim (from Seattle!) is signed under Antenna Music, whose other artists are worth checking out, too, if you're interested in unconventional, unique indie music (Antenna's whole brand is letting the artists explore their own tastes and interests; it's a whole agency of singer-songwriters). Sam Kim himself is an excellent guitarist, and likes to dabble every once in a while in other genres (r&b, ballads, pop) and has performed singles for k-drama soundtracks in the past. First song rec: It's You for a relaxed indiepop sound, NO SENSE from his album I AM SAM for a demonstration of his guitar picking style.
Lee Jin-ah is also at Antenna Music. When she arrived on the music scene with her voice and her piano, even big names like JYP (which is one of the "Big Three" pop music companies) were scrambling to offer her a contract. Her jazz piano background brings something very distinctive to the Korean music industry; she combines that with r&b and bubblegum pop influences, which is a really interesting contrast with her light, airy, fairy-like voice :) First song rec: RANDOM (a good intro to her eclectic style), Let's Go Camping (a slower acoustic/piano track that displays her whimsical sound in a softer way).
Eddy Kim's acoustic stuff is pretty good easy listening. I listened to his music constantly in high school. He's less experimental in his music style than Sam Kim, for example, but when he sticks to his brand (guy with guitar and a regular percussive beat) he comes up with some really good music. First song rec: 2 years apart or The Manual
AKMU (Akdong Musician) is probably the only big name company musician I still follow/listen to. They signed with JYP when they were in their mid-teens -- JYP is the only one among the Big Three companies that branches out from mainstream pop the most. AKMU is a brother-sister duo that creates quirky, whimsical indie-pop music with a very distinctive sound (they often sing together; the sister is an incredible vocalist and the brother is the one who composes and produces). More recent music has either gone electro-pop or acoustic based indie. I've added two albums here (one from their teenage years, one more recent) as a nice comparison. You can hear how their style has changed over the years! First song rec: How People Move (a funky, energetic title track), Time and Fallen Leaves (ballad), Last Goodbye (they incorporated a familiar classical music song into this in a very creative way)
Last of all, someone who technically is part of the pop scene in Korea, but whose sound is more memorable to me. IU's charm is the versatility in her voice; she's experimented with many genres in her extensive career (she was a child star). Musical theatre, jazz, singsong rap, ballads, bubblegum pop, electropop, indiepop, acoustic indie, alternative....... she's literally done it all (well. Aside from rock, metal, and traditional folk music). LILAC is one of her more recent albums (for a more acoustic indie sound, I'd recommend Palette). First song rec: LILAC (this is a pretty good example of the unique things she brings to the kpop scene: a theatrical, refreshing sound), My sea (a kdrama OST-style ballad that demonstrates her vocal ability and range), Through the Night from her Palette album (soft relaxing acoustic song)

wow this sent me down a rabbit hole lmao i used to dip my toes a LOT into k r&b but i fell out of it after a while cause the rappers that crossed over with it so often started to annoy me a lil bit when show me the money became like...a big thing LMAO so so many of my faves are old old
beenzino has a great discography. hes definitely up there as a fave. 24 26 girl live life like a fish...still top peak album so good.
i mean zion.t is a classic and he undeniably made so much good stuff, but primary was really where it was at for me. he seems to have sort of...disappeared, but his 2012 album??? unreal. SEETHRU?????
what happened to sonnet son? she was so interesting and its so hard to find her stuff now fdjksf ms. burgundy was my fucking jam the year it came out i was so into it
i kind of fell off of it around the time dean started gaining popularity but his first album i still love. 21 is a solid bop every time i listen to it
simon d. simon dominic. simon d o m i n i c oh oh. classic. he makes great stuff. cheerz still goes as hard as ever
suran is always a good listen. like no matter what she does, her voice just comes through so nicely.
gray had a hand in a lot of songs i really loved back in the day, and to this day still he's making some interesting stuff. blink was and still is a real fave (esp the remix)
giriboy has been making a lot of things lately that i very much enjoy as well, and he has been a staple for a while i think !
i also sort of miss kanto? he did some really fun collabs with some idols. his song with infinite's sunggyu was one i listened to a lot back in the day. i should catch up with his stuff
crush is good, but i never really got too much into his stuff. i loved his song 'sometimes' but i loved the cover by jamie park (ne jimin park) a lot more than the original tbh i was trying to find it but its so impossible fjhdaskjfd maybe ill have to upload it from my itunes
dynamic duo's 7th album (luckynumbers) is one that i really enjoyed. it was like...nice summertime r&b.
i used to listen to this guy called eachone a lot. he had an album in 2012 called diorama that i was really really in love with. especially the song i like...
this soulights album in particular
sexyhomme had some mixtapes that i loved that sort of straddled the line between r&b and hip hop a lot, but i always loved them. theyre difficult to find now, but he has some stuff up on spotify that is still very good ! (also 0 monthly listeners??? wth?)

as far as the current k r&b scene goes, i think that bibi and bi (funny) are making some really interesting stuff ! btbt blew my fucking mind so im happy to see him doing some stuff. and bibi is hit or miss for me with her actual songs but i always think she's doing something interesting.
mino's last album is genuinely phenomenal. im so into it. i think he has been doing some really interesting things for a while now but that album was sort of the best of him all boiled down into one package. i loved kill and the title track tang ofc
sam kim put out a nice album in 2018 that i got to late but its a great time.
i would be remiss if i didnt mention feeldog !! ex-idol now doing a lot of production and his own solo stuff. and its all exceptionally good and very underrated. detox really is a favourite of mine this year, such a gem
the scene has changed so much from when i used to actively pay attention to it i dont even really know who is still in it beyond the k r&b that is so seeped into the fabric of kpop itself now. im glad so many idols are finding some purchase in the genre through solo careers and stuff, like genuinely i love yugyeoms r&b, and baekhyun and kai make some really solid stuff.
honestly it seems to me like the future of k r&b is a lot of idols / ex idols who genuinely grew up on and love the genre and are bringing their flavour and experience from the pop industry side of things to r&b and i think thats pretty cool. its always been rather interwoven, but you see more and more crossover now than ever before

— 50 minutes with yoo kiha of legacy entertainment!

for someone who had been signed to an idol agency for nearly three years, yoo kiha had done a stellar job keeping his vocals to himself. most people under legacy entertainment knew kiha as a dancer, as they should — he hadn’t given anyone any other reason to assume otherwise. he had never been one to chase opportunities at legacy, whatever they may or may not of entailed. kiha opted to avoid potentially putting a spotlight on himself where he could, still recalling the netizen article surfacing after the showcase labelling him as an ace. so much for yoo kiha keeping a low profile. physical bootcamp was easy for kiha. child’s play. he knows all too well that he could of cruised through debut bootcamp — if he had of given himself the opportunity to participate. but kiha wasn’t entirely ready to bare his soul to the world.
so why on earth was he perched on the edge of a bar stool in legacy’s esteemed café?
kiha has come to the conclusion that this year is all about doing the things he wishes he’d gone and done in the past — slowly but surely ticking items off of a list that exists somewhere in the back of his chaotic, confused head. and this performance is one of them. kiha would be lying to himself and everyone else if he said he wasn’t still slightly apprehensive about singing in public. but he rationalises that the worst part of the fifty minute set wouldn’t be the singing— it would be the talking. the compulsory talking segments between the songs would be enough to turn kiha off of this whole performance thing. it wouldn’t take long for legacy’s café goers to come to the quick realisation that kiha was not a talker. but maybe there was some charm in that?
kiha sits on the edge of the bar stool on the cafe’s stage, his eyes slowly moving back and forth between the tables and faces in the audience. it was was by no means packed with customers, alleviating some of his anxieties, all while still having a decent amount of people in said audience for a first time performance — which in hand, alleviates anxieties. anyone who knows yoo kiha and the way he is usually found performing would immediately pinpoint the absence of the black baseball cap atop of his head, it’s peak obscuring his line of sight. kiha knows is still hanging from it’s hook on his bedroom door back in the dormitory. kiha wasn’t sure who or what or how he'd want to perform as a first timer — he figures he doesn’t have the luxury to choose right now.
he removes the microphone from the stand with a slow and steady hand, bringing it closer so he can attempt some semblance of an introduction to his audience. “uh— hello.” he begins, voices within the café beginning to hush at the sound of his voice. he speaks slowly, clearly. rehearsed. “my name is yoo kiha. um, thank you for coming to today’s performance. i hope that you enjoy the set that i’ve put together.” he says with a nod of his head, offering the audience a small smile in hopes that they might look upon this performance favourably. or kindly. or both. kiha returns the microphone to it’s stand and takes in a deep breath as he cues for the backing audio to play.
a gentle, familiar tune begins to fill the café space — notes from a piano. it’s a song kiha knows all too well, one he finds himself singing to himself when he finds himself alone. it’s strange for kiha to piece together a setlist by hand when he often finds the most comfort in silence.
love, love the stars. love, love the moon.
a voice emanates from awkward, maybe even slightly foreboding figure occupying the bar stool on the café stage. and that voice belongs to kiha. today was for him, the singer — the dancer and the performer who had let down his guard long enough to allow others to truly see him.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ━ ☆ ❱ WICKED GAMES is BONNIE's sixth release and third FULL ALBUM. Still reeling from the success of THE GOOD WITCH, BONNIE decided to wait and release this album later. Finally, on 12 APRIL 2024, the highly anticipated album was released. The title track SOOEASY got BONNIE 9 wins, but it was the b-side THE BOY IS MINE that really broke the charts worldwide. BONNIE is known for telling stories out of order, and this album is no exception. It could be about a love gone awry or a couple overcoming their problems and powering through.
☆. TRACKLIST !
01. INTRO : ILLSN II ── setting the tone for the album, this intro establishes the theme of people not being able to let go of each other. no matter how hard they try, they have been captivated and there is nothing they can do about it.
02. NBDY KNOWS ── in this second song, BONNIE talks about pursuing someone while everyone else is none the wiser. when asked if the song was about a real secret relationship she was in and she just laughed. the rnb sound made it a fan favourite song.
03. TRUE STORY ── although she has not said so explicitly, many speculate that this song is about her and her former company / ceo and it wouldn’t be the first time she’d sung about it. from the perspective of a now ended relationship, she sings about not caring about being treated like a villain for another person because she knows the truth of what they were like when they were together.
04. BAD BOY ── the song may be about the singer falling in love with a nonchalant boy who is kind of rude, but BONNIE clarified on live with a laugh: “i only like people who are nice to me”. it is a fun and catchy song that she promoted alongside the title track for two weeks and it managed to bring home 3 music show wins.
05. SOOEASY ── this album’s title track marks the first collaboration between BONNIE and ZION.T. the song follows BONNIE as she talks to her potential lover about how easy it would be for her to have them if she wanted.
06. LOVE WAR (FEAT. YEONJUN OF TXT) ── when the tracklist was announced and fans saw that YEONJUN was featured on a song, the internet lost its mind. the song tells the story of a love gone sour where it seems like all the two partners do is fight and argue, despite being happy once.
07. THE BOY IS MINE ── in this fun, dance pop track, BONNIE sings a rather sexy song stating her claim on a boy. the track interpolates the iconic BRANDY and MONICA song of the same name. surprising fans by speaking so frankly about a man, and just being an overall great song, it went viral almost instantly.
08. BLACK PEARL ── hidden behind a relaxing city pop beat that just makes you want to dance lies lyrics sad enough to make you cry. in it, BONNIE questions why her lover even likes her when she believes she’s ugly and too hurt for them, to the point where she begs them to just leave her alone.
09. EUNOIA ── following a somber song about not feeling deserving of love, EUNOIA is about two people who are just perfect for each other. they are the best for each other and when they are together. this is another example of how BONNIE chooses to tell stories not in chronological order. where does this bright, bubbly love song fit in the grand scheme of the album?
10. BLUE FLAME ── using blue fire as a metaphor, this song is about knowing something is dangerous or bad but choosing to do it anyway because it is so enticing. fans theorise that BONNIE could be talking about “the relationship”.
11. SOS ── once again telling this love story completely out of order, BONNIE sings about how she knows falling for this person is a bad idea but she just can’t help it and needs to be saved. when talking about it, she said: “it’s really just me being dramatic about — hm — i guess a crush. crushes are the worst! and they ruin my life!”
12. GENIE ── it is a very bright and fun song, produced by kpop legends B.E.P, however, because of its placement on the album, there is something disconcerting about it. BONNIE sings about being her lover’s “genie”, that whatever they desire, they can find it within her. but because she already expressed the insecurities she feels within a relationship, her willingness to be this person’s “dream girl” just seems sad.
