Summary:

On the way to learn Buddhist scriptures, Tang Seng (played by Jia Yongquan) and his four disciples encountered a leopard spirit (played by Wang Yuqing) who came to Yuan Wai's house to snatch his bride. After a fight, the outnumbered leopard spirit died violently and Yuan Wai's family was very happy. The next day, a group of four people passed by the Bull Demon Palace and saw the Bull Demon King and Princess Iron Fan doing some housework. Wukong (played by Dong Zhihua) made rude remarks and offended Princess Iron Fan and the master and apprentices continued to travel west. On this day, they came to Chechi Kingdom which is controlled by monsters. Tang Monk and his disciples stayed here for several days, destroyed the monster caves, and restored the peaceful life of the past. Red Boy (played by Mu Lixin) receives a letter from his mother, Princess Iron Fan, and learns that Sun Wukong has insulted his mother, and he is determined to avenge his mother. Guanyin Bodhisattva learned that Tang Monk and his disciples were in trouble, so he sent his disciples Mu Zha, Jin Zha, and Nezha to help, and finally surrendered Red Boy...

The story is based on Wu Chengen's famous work "Journey to the West".

Chapter Recap: Chapter 20: At Yellow Wind Ridge the Tang Monk meets adversity; In mid-mountain, Eight Rules strives to be first

This chapter beings with Xuanzang, that “master of law,” reciting a gatha (Sanskrit for “song” or “verse”) he had composed after mastering the Heart Sutra, and through it he had “broken through the gate of his understanding.” And at this point the seasons have turned to summer. They have been camping outside for a few days since they left Gao Village until late one day the spot a hamlet. Tripitaka suggests that they ask for lodging there for the night, Zhu Bajie says they should also beg for food, as the pig yaoguai, unlike Sun Wukong, “can’t imbibe the wind and exhale the mist.” The Monkey King calls Zhu Wuneng a “family-hugging devil” on hearing this, and Tang Sanzang tells his second disciple that if his heart “still clings to the family, you are not the kind of person who wants to leave it. You may as well turn back!” This so shakes Zhu Bajie that he “fell on his knees and said, ‘Master, please do not listen to the words of Elder Brother. He loves to put blame on others: I haven’t made any complaint, but he said that I was complaining. I’m only an honest moron…What do you mean, I’m not willing to leave the family?” Tripitaka tells the pig yaoguai that if that’s the case he can get up.

Still muttering, Zhu Bajie had “no choice but to follow his companions with complete determination up to the door.” Tripitaka takes point on begging for shelter, and looking in the door of the hamlet sees “an old man reclining on a bamboo bed and softly reciting the name of Buddha.” Tang Sanzang gives the old man a greeting, tells him his situation, and requests shelter for the night. The old man expresses doubt that the Tang monk would be able to make it to the Western Heaven, embarrassing Tripitaka so much that he’s unable to reply. But Sun Wukong, “who had always been impulsive and mischievous,” strides forward and loudly chides the old man for “trying to intimidate us with discouraging words.” There’s the usual exchange about how hideous the Monkey King is with his “pointed chin, shriveled cheeks, a thunder-god mouth, and blood-red eyes,” with the monkey replying that he’s a person with the “passable” abilities of being able to “apprehend monsters, subdue demons, tame tigers, capture demons—in sum, I know a little about all the matters that a person needs to know to go up to Heaven or to descend into Earth.” The old man “roared with laughter” on hearing Sun Wukong’s speech, but he tells the pilgrims that they may rest in his hut. He agrees to this even after seeing Zhu Bajie, all while remarking that they are “One monk uglier than another!” Though the pig yaoguai notes that they “may be ugly, but we are all useful.”

As this groups is speaking, a group consisting of two young men, an old woman, and several young children arrive, all returning “after a day’s planting of young shoots of grain.” They’re all briefly scared off by the sight of Zhu Bajie, but are quickly calmed down by Tripitaka and the old man. Sun Wukong tells the pig yaoguai to “fix your ugliness, and while being chided by Tripitaka for his words the monkey then suggests that the junior disciple “Take that rakelike snout…put it in your bosom, and don’t take it out. And stick your rush-leaf-fan ears to the back of your head, and don’t shake them. That’s fixing it.” Zhu Bajie does so, and everyone is mollified.

The pilgrims are served tea and a vegetarian meal, and only then does Tang Sanzang ask what their patron’s surname is. He discovers the old man is Wang, who has two sons, three grandchildren, and is now sixty-one years old. Wang also tells the Tang monk that while the scriptures “are not hard to get…the journey there is filled with hazards and difficulties.” He then warns the pilgrimage that some “thirty miles west of us there is a mountain called the Yellow Wind Ridge of Eight Hundred Miles” which is infested with monsters. Yet both he and Sun Wukong agree that since “this little priest [the Monkey King] claims that he has many abilities…you may perhaps proceed after all.” Sun Wukong even boasts that with “old Monkey and his younger brother around, we’ll never be touched, no matter what kind of monster we meet.” They then have their meal—with Zhu Bajie eating “all the rice in that household, and then he said he was only half full,” before everyone goes to bed.

The pilgrims depart early the next morning, and after they had traveled for half a day “they did indeed come upon a tall mountain, exceedingly rugged.” As they’re carefully navigating their way through this mountain, a sudden violent whirlwind arises. It alarms Tripitaka, and despite Sun Wukong’s assurances the monk insists that there’s something frightening about it. Zhu Bajie also insists that they shelter until the wind has died down. The Monkey King tells them all to settle down and let him “seize the wind and smell it.” And since he has the power to do so, the monkey is able to tell that it’s not a good wind, “for it smells like a tiger or else like a monster.”

No sooner had he finished this sentence “when from over a hump of the mountain a fierce striped tiger with a whiplike tail and powerful limbs appeared.” Tripitaka immediately falls of his horse and “lay beside the road, half out of his wits.” Zhu Bajie runs to confront it, and the tiger stands up on its hind legs and strips off his own skin, revealing his true “hideous form.” He then announces himself as the “vanguard of the forces commanded by the Great King Yellow Wind,” and that he’s on patrol to “catch a few mortals to be used as hors d’oeuves for him.” Perhaps foolishly, Zhu Bajie tells the tiger yaoguai that they are “the disciples of Tripitaka…who by imperial decree is journeying to the Western Heaven to seek scriptures from the Buddha.” Yet the pig is able to put up a good fight, and chases the tiger vanguard away from Tang Sanzang. After settling his shifu back on the horse Sun Wukong likewise joins the battle against the tiger yaoguai, leaving Tripitaka “trembling all over” and reciting the Heart Sutra.

Now pursued by two ferocious yaoguai, the tiger vanguard, in a panic, eventually throws his tiger skin over a large rock “while his true form changed into a violent gust of wind heading back the way he had come.” Finding Tang Sanzang unprotected, the tiger yaoguai snatches him away and immediately takes him to the cave of the Yellow Wind Monster. The Tiger Vanguard presents the monk to this Cave Master “for your culinary pleasure.”

The Yellow Wind Monster, however, is startled rather than pleased with this news. For he had heard the rumor that the Tang monk was accompanied by “a disciple whose name is Pilgrim Sun and who possesses tremendous magical powers and prodigious intelligence.” He thus decides that Tripitaka won’t be devoured just yet, for while “There’s nothing wrong with eating him…I’m afraid his two disciples may come to our door and argue with us.” The Cave Master decides that the monk will be tied to a post in their rear garden for three or four days, and if no one shows up to claim him, then “we can do what we want with him, whether we wish him boiled, steamed, friend, or sautéed; we can take our time to enjoy him.” The Tiger Vanguard is pleased with this assessment, and other yaoguai firmly bind Tripitaka in ropes before taking him away. The monk can do nothing but cry and wish his disciples would find him.

Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie, having realized how they were tricked, quickly discover that Tripitaka has been spirited away. The Monkey King bellows “like thunder” while Zhu Wuneng cries, but soon enough Sun Wukong states that they “have to be somewhere in this mountain” and that they should be able to find their missing shifu. And sure enough, after traveling and searching for a long time, they find a formidable cave. Sun Wukong instructs Zhu Bajie to hide their luggage and go graze the horse, while “old Monkey” goes to fight with the monster. He doesn’t have to tell the pig yaoguai twice. Rushing up to the cave, Sun Wukong sees a sign designating it as the “Yellow Wind Cave, Yellow Wind Peak,” and cries out at the kidnappers to return his shifu, “lest I overturn your den and level your dwelling!”

Every one of the little yaoguai of this cave are left panic-stricken, and rush to the Yellow Wind Monster to report that “a monk with a thunder-god mouth and hairy face” is “demanding the return of his master.” Now somewhat fearful, the Cave Master chides the Tiger Vanguard for bringing the Tang monk to their cave. The tiger yaoguai, however, tells his king not to worry, for he will lead fifty soldiers to battle the Monkey King and “bring in that so-called Pilgrim Sun as a condiment for your meal.” The Yellow Wind Monster lets the Tiger Vanguard know that if he succeeds he’ll make him his bond brother, but that he mustn’t blame his king if he gets hurt.

The Tiger Vanguard selects “fifty of the toughest little demons,” and taking up his two bronze scimitars leaps out of the cave to confront Sun Wukong. After exchanging insults, the Monkey King leaps at the Tiger Vanguard with “grinding teeth and fiery eyes all ablaze,” and the two engage in a ferocious battle. Yet the Tiger Vanguard is no match for Sun Wukong, and, because he “dared not go back to the cave” after making his boast, flees towards the mountain slope. The Monkey King relentlessly chases the tiger yaoguai until they reach the fold of the mountain, where Zhu Bajie is grazing the horse. Joining in the fight, the pig yaoguai brings his rake down hard on the side of the Tiger Vanguard’s head, a blow which “produced nine holes, from which fresh blood spurted out, and the brains of the monster’s whole head ran dry!” Zhu Bajie hits him once more for good measure on the spine, which pleases Sun Wukong greatly.

The pig and monkey yaoguai then catch up, with the Monkey King concluding that the death of the Tiger Vanguard is to Zhu Bajie’s merit. He then gives his junior disciple the option of remaining behind to guard the horse and luggage “and let me drag this dead monster back to the mouth of the cave to provoke battle again.” Zhu Bajie agrees, and also tells Sun Wukong to drive the head monster his way to “let old Hog intercept and kill him.” So holding his as-you-will cudgel in one hand and dragging the tiger’s corpse with the other, the Monkey King returns to the Yellow Wind Cave. And here is where the chapter ends.

Pretty, Pretty boy.

And, it’s said that the light shall shine over the head of a the virtuous ones, while on the wicked it emits a kind of black ether that reaches to the very sky.

Can’t you believe he doesn’t have all his toes? Me neither.

To be honest I just draw the most pretty and anxious 20 year old man I would imagine and gave him some birthmarks that may remain of the eyes of a cicada and called it a day.

I also based his face on a tiger since something might have seen Yellow Robe Demon to go “I will tell the king that the monk it’s a tiger.” Probably the orange... But I like to think that he has some kind of semblance of a tiger, at less the bite.

Also, there’s something so special about Wukong killing a tiger to wear his skin after meeting Tripitaka, and Wukong and Tripitaka meeting again, but this time Wukong wearing the clothes that the monk gave to him and Tripitaka cursed to look like a tiger.

And I believe, it’s comedy.

The medication can only do so much so I've gotten invested in a Roblox dragon riding simulator to take the pain away. Here's my cool tiger dragon Bibingka she originally had green eyes and was a grass element but I used an element randomizing potion on her hoping it would give me yellow or orange eyes to look more like a tiger except instead it gave her demon powers??? And now she has demon eyes and can breath demonic curses??? I guess I should rename her Bibingheka or something bc

Just remembered that during the "Yellow Robed Demon" arc of JTTW - Tripitaka got turned into a tiger.

Kui Mulang's spell was specifically an illusion to make Tripitaka appear to be a tiger to everyone around him, so powerful that only Sun Wukong's Gold Vision could see past it when he finally freed his master.

But then I started considering something.

What if Kui Mulang's spell was a little too powerful?

He is a star-god after all. His powers are great.

Tripitaka comes away from Precious-Image/Baoxiang Kingdom mostly back to his regular human self... until he isn't.

Turns out the Wood-Wolf Star was still pretty peeved at getting his stolen bride + his two children taken away from him. So he gave the Tiger curse an extra layer to it.

Notably that it's sufferer, a virtuous vegatarian monk, would suffer the instincts and ferocity of a common beast.

The Great Tang Monk awakens one morning to find his mouth filled with fangs and his stomach begging for flesh.

Tripitaka now has to deal with genuine temptation for the first time in his life and weigh his survival over his morality. And maybe gain a better understanding of his diciples "sinful" ways.

If let's say it is more characteristic that chinese dragons have the element of water? The fox spirits would be the fire? (once again, looking for Chinese fox spirits is difficult because sometimes I fear that the info will become more mixed with that of the Kitsune) What about tigers?

Yes, Chinese dragons are mainly associated with the Water element, and are weather deities, though Cold Dragons (freeze/chill) and Fire Dragons also exist, they are just a lot more rare.

Foxes do have association with Fire——not as strong as dragons and Water, but there are neat tidbits here and there. For example, in You Yang Za Zu, the same passage that mentioned foxes wearing human skulls on their heads in order to transform also said that, when foxes swung their tails around at night, fire comes out (夜击尾火出).

Vol. 448 of Taiping Guangji also mentioned a fox demon who had flames on its tail, "like a shooting star". In FSYY Pinghua, when Bi Gan shot an arrow at what appeared to be Daji in fox form, fire also came out when it connected.

The fox lady in the Qing dynasty 狐狸缘, while she was battling with Lv Dongbin, also spat out her "golden core" together with a stream of Samadhi Fire in an attempt to hurt him. Which is reminiscent of the more fire-like depiction of a fox's inner core.

However, there are other more obscure sources that associate foxes with the Earth element ('cause they dig holes and are yellow/orange colored?), and because Fire births Earth, you can light 1000 years old dead wood on fire, and the fire would lure the fox out and reveal its true form.

Also, one of the spells that's commonly used to subdue foxes and demons in general is the Five Thunder Arts (五雷法), where Daoists called upon the Thunder Bureau to strike their targets with fire and lightning.

I'm not as familiar with tiger yaoguais, but element-wise, the White Tiger of the West is associated with Metal, and in the Book of Mountains and Seas, Queen Mother of the West was said to have a leopard's tail + tiger's teeths, before she evolved into a more human form in later sources.

Tigers in folklore are more well-known for their ability to command ghosts, though. Specifically, ghosts of people they ate, who help lure in more preys for them, called 伥鬼.

Summary:

The game follows the basic outline of the Journey to the West's plot, in which the main character, a Buddhist practitioner named Sanzo, travels from China to India on a religious mission and has a variety of adventures along the way. Sanzo can be played as either a male or a female character at the player's choice. Every character except Sanzo can transform into a monstrous form for a limited time. Instead of transforming, Sanzo has access to summon spells that each boost the party's stats in different ways for a number of rounds and allows him/her to use an extra spell at will. Furthermore, each character has a native element that powers their spells and weakens them to opposing elements.

Kui Mulang (LMK):

[Kaui Mulang, Guard of the Celestial Court, Mansion of the White Tiger, Devourer of Earthly Souls]

Korean: Gyumokrang Mandarin: The Wood Wolf of Legs

Former Celestial Guard turned Yellow-Robed Demon.

After Falling in Love with Jade Maiden and having their love rejected by the Celestial Realm. He gave up their immortality and he awaited for her to reincarnate. As he waits to make sure he will be there to see her he consumes mortal lives to longavit his own.

The 28 Mansions mentioned by him are part of the Chinese constellation system as to why there is so much star imagery is in his castle.

Kui Mulang (Ledgend):

Kui Mulang originated from the ancient Chinese worship of the constellations, a spiritual practice that combines Chinese mythology and astronomy. He is considered to be one of the 28 Mansions, which are Chinese constellations. These are the same as those studied in Western astrology. He appears in Chinese mythology literate notably the JTTW & Fengshen Yanyi.

He is linked to a historical figure called Ma Wu, a general who hailed from the town of Huyang in Tanghe, located in the Henan province.

Kui Mulang is associated with the constellation Andromeda, which appears in the sky in the middle of November. In this constellation is Kui Xiu, described as the "four-legged fish palace" of Heshansu (和善宿) because its shape is similar to a fish. Another constellation, the White Tiger, is also associated with this cluster of stars.

According to the novel Investiture of the Gods (Fengshen Yanyi), Kui Mulang was originally named Li Xiong. After he died in the Battle of the Ten Thousand Immortals, Jiang Ziya deified him as the Wood Wolf of Legs, one of the twenty-eight stars.

In JTTW

Kui Mulang appears as a demon named Yellow Robe Demon . He lives the Moon Waves Cave on Bowl Mountain in the Kingdom of Baoxiang. In his past, the Yellow Robe Demon falls in love with the Jade Maiden in Heaven and decides to elope with her. He becomes a demon lord and the maiden is reincarnated from a goddess to a human who is named Baihuaxiu . She is the third princess of the Kingdom of Baoxiang. The demon then kidnaps the princess, though she has no memory of her existence as a Jade Maiden. He marries her and the couple has two children. Sun Wukong manages to defeat the demon, which mysteriously vanishes after his defeat. Wukong then seeks help from Heaven to track down the demon and learn his true identity. The Jade Emperor discovers that one of the 28 Mansions is missing, so he orders the remaining 27 to subdue the demon. The demon is revealed to be a disguised as Revatī, the Wood Wolf of Legs, a star deity in the heavenly court, and one of the 28 Mansions. The Wood Wolf is then subdued and brought back to Heaven. As punishment, he is ordered to become a furnace keeper under Taishang Laojun.

Jade Maiden:

Considering she is a huge part of Kui Mulang's life I thought maybe also some info about her as well.

Yunü is a common designation for a beautiful woman or, in Daoism, for a fairy or immortal

A Taoist deity or goddess in Chinese mythology and Chinese traditional religion who, along with her male counterpart Jintong (Golden Boy), are favored servants of the Jade Emperor and Zhenwudadi.

They are also believed to serve as guides in the underworld and the protectors of houses and temples. Some of the Golden Boy and Jade Girl pair could be found on some graves at Bukit Brown Cemetery as they are believed to serve as guides in the Spirit World or the Underworld.

During the spring festival, pictures featuring the two can be found on the doors of many households.

This couple helps virtuous souls over a golden bridge to paradise and helps souls whose good deeds outweighed the bad, over a silver bridge to paradise. Therefore by erecting the Golden Boy and Jade Maiden by the grave of the deceased, living family members hope that the deceased will not venture into the courts of hell but instead lead their afterlife in paradise. Yunü and Jintong have appeared in several stories since the Song and Yuan dynasties and have become important figures in Chinese mythology.

There are several mountain peaks bearing her name.

In Journey to the West, Yunü is a servant maid of the Jade Emperor in Heaven. She falls in love with a star god called Kui Mulang and decides to elope with him. However, she doesn't want to ruin Heaven's pureness, so she decides to reincarnate as a human. She enters the human world as Baihuaxiu, the third princess of the Kingdom of Baoxiang.

In Other Literature:

Specific examples are the southern opera version of the legend, Jintong and Yunü, In this context, Yunü is called Longnü and Jintong is called Shancai Tongzi. According to the Shenyijing, Yunü and her companions loved to play touhu, a Chinese game in which arrows or darts are thrown into a vase. In the Avatamsaka Sutra, she and Jintong seek enlightenment and are acolytes of Guan Yin. In this context, Yunü is called Longnü and Jintong is called Shancai Tongzi. Some folktales say that Xue Dingshan and Fan Lihua were originally the Golden Boy and Jade Girl. The Jade Emperor was furious with them and wanted to punish them for breaking the celestial utensils. Fortunately, the Old Man of the South Pole begged for their mercy and was demoted to the mortal world. In the Hanyi ji play, the protagonists Qi Liang and Meng Jiang are reincarnations of Jintong and Yunü. In most popular versions of The Butterfly Lovers, the protagonists Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai are human reincarnations of Jintong and Yunü who are expelled from Heaven Court by Guanyin or the Jade Emperor for their sin and forced to live as a thwarted couple for three or seven generations before being reunited and restored to their original status.

Thoughts:

Yunü has a lot of love and being kicked/leaving heaven tales.

But did love she was more than just known for this story alone.

The JTTW and LMK versions of Kui Mulang are not too different. However, in the retelling of their love tale he only mentioned himself ridding them of their immortality it almost sounded like in that tale she might have had second thoughts and he did it by force. But I hope not but we can never know because the LMK changed a lot of the characters and tweaked some backstories.

I think the real change in the LMK is that Kui Mulang captured Ao Lie before the JTTW. From the way he talked about the Jade Maiden, she had not been reincarnated or at least he had not captured her yet. For Ao Lie It had to be after his banishment of course because he talked about his powers causing damage he felt bad for aka when he burned his dad's stuff.

Random question! Do you have a favourite moment in the book?

First of all, thank you so much!! oh my gosh that is so kind TToTT I'm really happy you liked them!! The pilgrims all being dumb together is my favorite thing hhaha As to your question, oh man, absolutely. Its more a bunch of moments all from one chapter. My favorite chapter of the book goes something like this: And I've said this before but should say again, it has been several years since I read the novel cover to cover, so I may not remember all the details just right, but as I recall it, my favorite chapter is the one immediately following the story of the White Bone Devil, which is one of the most famous chapters. But to me, the story of the White Bone Devil is nothing compared to their ridiculous conflict with Lord Yellow Robe, Kui Mulang.

After Monkey is banished by Tripitaka, he goes back to Mt Huaguo, leaving Pigsy and Sandy to look after the priest. Which goes about as well as you'd think. Pigsy says he'll go find food, then just takes a nap, Sandy I think goes looking for him, and when they both don't come back for a while, Tripitaka goes looking for them and ends up walking DIRECTLY into this demon's lair.

When Sandy and Pigsy learn of the priest's capture, they attempt to stage a rescue. During the middle of the fight, Pigsy thinks they're going to lose so tells Sandy to cover him, he has to go take as shit IMMEDIATELY. Runs into the bushes, and escapes all the while Sandy is captured and yelling at him for being a fat, useless, coward (rude.. but in this case very true lol)

Pigsy, now alone and unsure what to do, flies to Mt Huaguo to find Monkey and ask him to come back and save everyone. He tells him everything that's happened, and that Trip has been captured and will surely die if he doesn't help. Even after hearing all that, Monkey refuses. He's still upset that Trip dismissed him and thinks dying and reincarnating ought to teach the brat a lesson! Pigsy gives up at first, skulking off and mumbling to himself about what a flea-ridden bastard Monkey is... this is overheard by some of Monkey's minions who deliver the news to the king himself. Monkey orders Pigsy to be brought back for execution LOL Thinking on his feet, Pigsy tries to redirect Monkey's ire, and thinks one of my favorite lines in the novel. "A warrior is more likely to answer a challenge than an invitation".

He tells Monkey that it wasn't him... This demon, Lord Yellow Robe, he's the one who called Monkey a weak, pathetic, cowardly fool.

And this makes Monkey ENRAGED

Monkey springs into action, flying to confront this demon. Screaming about all the nasty things this demon said about him while Lord Yellow Robe has no idea who the hell this monkey is or why he's so pissed off.

And boy, does Monkey go HARD on this guy. After he beats him up and along with a bunch of his soldiers, the demon retreats into his lair and Monkey is left out. He can't find a way to get to him, so instead takes out his anger on Kui Mulang's wounded but still living soldiers, killing them all. He meets back up with Pigsy and Sandy and tells them his brilliant idea to draw the demon back out.

By taking his half-human children and killing them outside the gates, hoping that will enrage their father enough to come back out. Even his companions think he's malding a little hard

This has gone on awhile so to cut the rest short, Monkey is eventually "victorious". I think I recall a subplot about Trip being turned into a tiger too, and there was this captured princess subplot too.

But this is my fave chapter lol. Basically "Monkey Accidentally Saves The Day By Avenging An Imagined Insult To Himself"

Peak Monkey behavior, absolute mad lad, everyone is an idiot. Its just a mess and I love it.

Naughty Babe, who is Le Ling?!

I watched the Naughty Babe finale and had no idea who Le Ling was; therefore, I have to be annoyingly cringe about it, but before I begin, let me just say that Max looked delicious the entire eight episodes.

But also, this Daddy did too! And I'm not talking about Aon. No! Yi's father has been looking like an entire five-course meal every single time he appeared on the screen. This is the type of father that if your partner was acting up, forget about effing the friends. EFF THE DADDY! Sir, why are you looking so scrumdiliumcious? Is it all that money? Or is it the power? Perhaps it's you in red. Rawr!

Hand over heart, this entire family could get it. Mom included.

I gotta focus! The kids were in the playroom planning shenanigans.

This is a boy who gets it. I've always loved that his name is Syn because he sins but prays about it. Repents while he is doing it but still does it. Makes his sinful peeps pray too for good measure. We're not going to hell on his watch!

Lian not stopping Diao is funny because all throughout Cutie Pie, Yi would call Lian and be like, "your boy's at the club, but I'm only here to collect my man who I have 24-hour surveillance on, so sucks to be your trusting ass, but I'm built different, so I hope you get to your man on time before some serious shit goes down. Toodles!" These two are the pettiest friends, and I love my ghost ship.

Then to have the gold dragons which represent Yi's family but are also Diao's color.

Y'ALL CAN'T TELL ME SHIT!

I'm in heaven. I do not care what the plot was. I do not care about the fake amnesia. I do not care about how the dog attack turned into a tiger attack. NO ME IMPORTA! Diao called out his father in front of all those rich ass people and God while wearing his man's color, and I'm living for it!

Kuea is a Red Rascal too, and I appreciated this public service announcement.

All in all, YI IS A RED RASCAL, and marriage equality will come to Thailand no later than 2026.

And same-sex partners will legally be able to adopt by 2029.

Naughty Babe, Cutie Pie, and Domundi said it with their full chest, and Apollo is gonna cosign it with his bouncy red ball because Red Rascals may not like each other, but they love to cause havoc when least expected, so . . . fuck it up, sis!

Wisps of smoke clouded my vision as the smell of cheap cigarettes and musk further assaulted my senses. A confident step propelled me to the front of the makeshift stage. My body drove forward on autopilot as I stared down the hazy crowd before me.

The place was pretty crowded for a hole in the wall— rundown bar in the middle of nowhere. Not packed— thats for sure. But there were more patrons than I would be able to count on my fingers.

Good. I needed an audience tonight.

I sent my best sultry look into the crowd, slightly tilting myself forward as drunken men leered. I mentally counted to five before standing upright once more and giving my cue. The bartender/makeshift dj took notice and clicked play on the ancient cd player.

With a flip of a switch I became the version of myself that I always dreamed of. It was as if the music were flowing through my veins— reanimating me into it’s very own puppet.

My daintily painted nails curled softly and slowly against the mic as I readied for the chorus. The lights beneath the stage lit up in many mesmerizing shades of purples and blues, slightly pulsing with the music. Either the crowd completely quieted down or the number I have done countless of times over sent me into my own little world.

I successfully released the mic from its stand and began my slow steps across the stage. Drunken babbles and wolf whistles sounded as uncoordinated grubby hands reached out to me. I side stepped a particularly dedicated client and used the gaining momentum to turn on my heel. My lose hair whipped against my head as I looked back towards the crowd. The bright glaring clock that stated 11:59 caught and held my attention. Seconds beginning to feel like grueling hours as my attention and act never faltered.

I let myself float to the floor of the stage, not once taking my eyes off of the ticking clock. The hand that didn’t hold the mic up to my lips served as an anchor— one that both hid my trembling and grounded me. Sharp ringing flooded my mind as the clock struck 12. My eyes were released from the spell that glued them to the clock— only for me to search frantically around the room.

My ears strained to pick up any sign of my big finale, and just as I started to sing the final rendition of the chorus—I heard it.

The bone-chilling sounds of a vicious pack of dogs could be heard growing closer. Most of the customers were either too drunk or hypnotized by their lust to care. A forced smirk spread across my face— like hell i’d let those bastards think they got one over on me.

Those gnarly howls soon turned into hellish yips— as if they were excited to finally be in the presence of their prey. The hellborn creatures were circling the building no doubt.

The beautiful fade of the melody was interrupted by the wooden door splintering and bursting inwards. Many of people sat by the door sobered up from both the alcohol and the spell I had under— ready to face whatever burst in like a mad man. Only to find… nothing.

My eyes zeroed in on three large canine-like creatures— who were way too large to be your average fido. Their eyes glowed a menacing red as each of them searched through the crowd. Large heads scanning and sniffing the air cautiously before stopping right before me. The one who’s eyes met mine let loose another howl that silenced the drunkards confused murmurs and curses.

The other two immediately stopped what they were doing and met my eyes as well. It’s almost as if they were taunting me before continuing on with what we both knew they were here for. *Sick bastard probably wants them to play with their food*. I rolled my eyes at the thought— taking my eyes off of the hounds for a split second. Which telling by the slamming of furniture— only goaded them into charging me.

For the last time— my human eyes glanced upon the three pairs of deep maroon orbs that held my fate.

Screams sounded in the bar as my senses began to become clouded by the pain of being torn limb from limb.
