Do you forgive yourself?

Wheatley: Go on and get comfy now... I've got quite a lot to say about this.

Wheatley: I'll start by saying this... I am aware that what I did wasn't right. I'm aware it was... very wrong, actually. I've had a LOT of time to think about just HOW wrong I was. Nothing but time, actually. For about 3 years, I was stuck orbiting this rock. Every time I'd pass by the Earth I'd think about it. For 3 years! And I never once started to feel better about it... I actually think I felt worse as time went on. So, believe me. I am very, very aware of what I've done.

Now, I could sit here all day and give you the rationale for why I acted the way I did. But I don't want to do that. I don't want to sound like I'm just... trying to write it off as being nothing. Like "I was such a victim, and I was completely justified!" Because it's not like that at all. I tried to hurt people. People who had done nothing wrong! ... Well... one of them had done nothing wrong. Let's be honest, the other one totally deserved it--BUT!! BESIDES THAT... The only reasoning I can give you in good conscience is that... I am a right and proper moron. But, at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter WHY I did what I did, now does it? What matters is... I've done it. And I'm not proud of it. Not one bit.

I can sit up here, feeling terrible and sorry all I'd like, but, looking at things realistically, it's not going to change anything that's happened. You can't change the past. That's all already happened, hasn't it? No matter how hard I wish that I could take it all back, it's just not going to do a bloody thing. I don't … look, I really don't want it to sound like I just don't care. I do! But... I mean, augh… you can only think about something so much before it stops being helpful! I don't think it's doing ANYONE any good for me to continue to dwell on it.

Do I forgive myself... that's.... that's a bit, pointless to think about, isn't it? That doesn't matter so much, after all I'm not the one to apologize to. I didn't do myself wrong. But I was a horrible monster to her. If anyones forgiveness of me actually has value, it would be hers. But I couldn't even apologize to her if I wanted to... which I do. I want to quite badly. But... even if I did... let's say that I could apologize to her. If I did... I can't control whether or not she forgives me. Apologizing doesn't automatically mean you get forgiveness. And that's completely fair! No one involved has any obligation to forgive me at all. It doesn't matter how sorry I am or how much I regret it. That doesn't play a tenth of a part in it.

I almost think it would be selfish of me to even try to apologize at this point. Do I think reaching out and saying I'm sorry would make her feel better about what happened? Well, no. I doubt it. At that point, it'd just be for me and my closure. I don't want to subject her to percieving me again just for that. I have to consider what she would want, too. And I feel like she would just like to be left alone.

It's like... like if your high school bully reached out to you 11 years after graduation and said "Oi gov, remember all the times I flushed yer gob in the loo? Yea, dreadful sorry for that mate." like, would that make you feel better?? No, of course not! You'd be like... "why the hell is this daft codger talking to me again..." It's just not helpful to anyone!

I can't simply take back what I've done, no matter how much I want to. But I'll tell you--I'll tell you what I CAN change. I can change what I do now. My options after that day are A. carry on being a proper bellend or... or, B.... Don't. Be better. Do better. And you know… I'd like to think that I am.

Do i forgive myself? Well, the answer is no, I don’t. I don’t forgive my past self for what he’s done. That’s why I’m trying to be better, up here.

Wow that was... I know I said I had a lot to say but... that was a LOT to say. Hah... I've just thought about this so much, and never had anyone to really... talk to about it. Just sort of built up, I guess.

Overview

Wheatley Meadowlark is a middle aged appearing admin, they’re one of many but themself and only three admins survived a mass war that either killed the other admins or exiled them to the portal network.

Wheatley is genderfluid, or nonbinary they have no defining gender but have a more masculine appearance. Their form changes depending on which Jesse is present, female Jesse may provide a more feminine sounding/looking form and vice versa for male. But they seem to be more comfortable in their above form.

For simplicity sake, pronouns may switch between they/them or he/him, but they do go by any and all pronouns, often mirroring the ones of whoever they speak with.

Appearance/Family/relationships

They were a.. Accident, in short, being the oldest of Fred and Xara’s children they take on more of the overworld responsibilities when The admins are busy with their towns and other things. Wheatley did have their own town, but since it was highly self sustaining and not susceptible to mobs due to being built in the sky it didn’t need to be protected by the admin as much. Their colours are a mistake, the green is a curious genetic mutation that Fred and Xara were never able to figure out.

Wheatley’s immediate family consist of Xara and Fred, they made the decision to create Wheatley despite Romeo’s protests that the world didn’t need more admins. So in all technical terms they are descended from them, but never had a childhood as they were created fully grown. They have two younger brothers, they’d gone rogue similarly to Romeo though long before and were eventually killed due to their actions. Wheatley doesn’t like talking about them, whenever mentioned they seem indifferent to their deaths as if it never mattered to them.

Romeo is their partner, they don’t have any labels but have married and consider each other bound for like until Romeo goes rogue and kills Fred/Imprisons Xara. They had three daughters, all of which were killed by Waryn and Piers and they never had kids after this until far after Romeo was depowered. Radar is Wheatley’s oldest and only living child, after Romeo’s overthrowing of the other admins Wheatley fell out of love and eventually partnered with a mortal from the underneath which resulted in Radar. Romeo was not all too pleased with this and locked away Wheatley’s human partner, they raised Radar together but Romeo eventually couldn’t stand the young child and send Wheatley to find a new place for him. Stella was their option, though they do regret not giving their son to someone more capable.

History

During Wheatley’s Creation, the world housed multiple admins and not just the big three. Wheatley was created right smack dab in the middle of this era, all the admins had their own place in the world, most of which taking housing in the farlands, end, and the nether.

Wheatley was created for the sake of moderating the world during the days while the admins tended to their towns and left him to tend to his own city when night fell. Surprisingly enough, Wheatley loved his job, he loved watching mortals adventure the lands and exploring what Fred created and even visiting the different towns between patrols. They had a healthy routine, always finding time to spend together and recharging after long days of moderation.

Wheatley made his city not too long after his creation, calling it The Highlands that remained far in the mountains, floating on a huge chunk of earth they ripped from the ground with the other admins help. It’s built similarly to champion city, focusing more of artistic creativity and agriculture, its citizens all having a huge love of music and having juke boxes hung up all across the city. When Romeo bedrocked over the world it eventually became The Ancient City, Wheatley created wardens specifically to guard it and keep Romeo out as the sonic shrieks are one of the only things capable of harming admins. Some say the unlit portal leads to the only access gateway to Wheatley’s terminal zone, and is where its former citizens have gone to escape the bedrocking.

After the bedrocking, Wheatley disconnected entirely from Romeo, he went rogue many times and faced many consequences until Romeo broke them down to be the ‘perfect friend’ but of course that wasn’t enough… So Wheatley found love, despite being married to Romeo they found love in a mortal, which eventually led to Radar and well… In exchange for Stella raising their son, they built Champion City in the span of a week, bringing Stella to the terminal zone to oversee its creation until it was placed into the overworld. They drew inspiration from The Highlands.

Wheatley’s story during season 2 and onward will be revealed through artwork and asks ;D

Relation to The Order

Wheatley was never involved with mortals after Romeo went rogue, aside from Radar’s father they never really tried to make an effort to engage with them as they did in The Underneath. The Order seems to be the only group in a millennia Wheatley full engaged in, and they eventually took Romeo’s old tower above beacontown as their own home.

They think of Jesse as strong, independent and even a role model, both are understandably apprehensive of each other but eventually do come around and learn from each other. They’ll often share stories about their endeavours when the days are quiet.

Wheatley stole Lukas’ name, to but it shortly. Wheatley didn’t go by Wheatley at the start and instead went by ‘Lucas’ to sound more.. ‘modern’, and took all their inspiration from Lukas. They laugh about it now but its was quite awkward to explain when they did.

They don’t get along with Petra at all, the first thing Petra did was wave a sword at them and compared them to Romeo. It’s often they bicker, though its yet to escalate, their fights can often last hours and often ends in thunder storms.

Wheatley and Radar had a.. complicated relationship, Radar didn’t know about his heritage until way later and when it was revealed the emotions got quite tense. It took them some time but they eventually began to form something close to a parent/child bond.

The rest of their relationships with characters can be revealed through asks and so on! Similarly to what I said above, but thats pretty much most of the super important stuff, hopefully I can get alot of asks as I quite enjoy roleplaying as and talking about this funny little guy. *slaps the top of his head* This 5 year old boy can hold alot of lore.

Welcome to the View... again!

//I am an absolute stupid idiot. An imbecile. A dumb-dumb, even. I am so incredibly stupid that it hurts. It PHYSICALLY hurts. Allow me to explain.

Some quick backstory... when I created my other account (@cosmic-coffee-core) I used a temp email because... well because it’s the easiest way to quickly create a tumblr account.

I returned home from work today to find that tumblr had randomly logged me out of my other account. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem because, normally, any person with a functioning brain would have... you know... remembered the email that they used to create their account. Or saved it to their computer’s memory. Or wrote it down on a piece of paper. Well. Let me tell you what I did.

Nothing! I didn’t do any of those things! I didn’t do anything that would help me regain access to the account should I ever had been logged out from it! So that account is lost! To the void! Forever! And there’s not a thing I can do!

All I am able to do is create a new account, which I did. It’s this one. And KEEP RECORD OF THE EMAIL that I used to create the new account. Which I also did. So, here we are now.

Luckily, I can reblog all the old posts onto this new blog. Since we hadn’t gotten THAT far into it, it won’t be too much of a problem. However, I did lose some of the asks in the inbox. Some of them I DID save. Most of them, surprisingly. But I did get one really good anon yesterday that unfortunately has fallen victim to my stupidity.

Anon from last night, if you happen to see this, please feel free to resubmit your ask because I was looking forward to answering it! If you submitted anything to cosmic-coffee-core before yesterday, I DO have your ask saved, however, I don’t have all the usernames saved. Sadly at this point I’m just going to have to work with what I’ve got and treat all like anonymous asks, unless you remember what you sent and want to send it in again!

Obviously the moment in chapter 8 where glados hatches a new plan to defeat Wheatley so they go up in front of one of his screens and chell starts sloppily kissing potatOS in front of him and his little orb head explodes from the sheer power of lesbian love and everyone dies because the nuclear reactor breaks--

....that didn't happen, but in all seriousness:

Momentum-based puzzles (wheeeeeeeeeee)

The escape sequence in portal 1 where glados is begging you to come back to the testing annex and she's like "didn't we have some fun, though (:> someday we'll look back on this and laugh. And laugh. And laugh. O-o-oooh boy..."
