Miraculous’ story is so deeply intertwined with the notions of child abuse and neglect that they kickstarted the entire plot.
I hate Master Fu. You hate Master Fu. We all hate Master Fu. But that doesn’t change the fact that, at some point, he was a child who was:
Abandoned by his parents so he could fulfill a mission he never chose; in the process, he was ripped from his siblings and isolated from other children, exactly like the Senticousins were.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Put through intense training — like all Sentikids, but especially Kagami — and deprived of food and rest by his guardians (Get it? Guardians?) on at least one occasion, as a way to prove his worth.
Tumblr media
Left alone to deal with the strong negative emotions that such a treatment would inevitably stir up in a young child (his only support, his apprentice’s staff, becoming home to Feast’s amok as he yearns for companionship).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The result? Utter chaos and destruction, which led to the loss of the two Miraculous that are very explicitly linked to emotions and control. And, of course, deadly damage to the Peacock, which is what got us into this mess in the first place.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
DISCLAIMER:
I am aware that the Order of the Guardians was inspired by actual religious practices in Tibet and am in no way condemning these. However the show, through Master Fu’s perspective, clearly wants us to understand that this was a Bad Thing That Happened and that the consequences continue to haunt our heroes nearly 200 years after the fact.
And haunt our heroes they do: Master Fu (who had literal decades to fix his mistake — don’t get me wrong, I still hate the guy) is forcing the same responsibilities that broke him on two innocent kids — especially on poor Marinette, who is just as unprepared to deal with them as he was back then.
Tumblr media
The cycle keeps repeating itself.

So, as a child abuse survivor and someone who has been sexually assaulted by men who think they're entitled to take what they want Adrien is canonically a god damned dick.
He sexually harrasses Ladybug. When told NO he once let 2.161 million people drown because he was busy throwing a tantrum
Being a victim of abuse does not excuse the abuse of others.
He might not mean any harm but you know who else doesn't mean any harm? Gabriel. My goddamned mother.
Not meaning harm- lacking malice- does not mean harm is not caused.
People are going on about him being a rich white guy because anyone else acting like that in public would be considered an antagonist (in fiction), in jail, or have an active warrant for their arrest. And that's assuming they aren't killed for it.
First off, I am truly very sorry for your experience. No one should have to go through that.
But I still do disagree.
Adrien's pushiness when it comes to expressing his affections for Ladybug are in the same boat as Marinette being a stalker or Chloe being pushy with Adrien: it's a joke. You may find it to be a poor one, certainly, but it's a joke nonetheless. Miraculous relies on this kind of humor, it's not meant to be taken seriously. You can have issues with it, but imho acting like it's any kind of legitimate criticism of his character probably makes people like me less inclined to listen to any actual criticisms you may have.
I don't say this to trivialize your experiences, and if the joke is hurtful to you, you are well within your rights to dislike it or talk about how it's in poor taste to make jokes about these things, but that's all it is, a joke. It's absurdist humor. It's not meant to be taken at face value. It would be creepy if Marinette seriously had Adrien's schedule mapped out, tried to break into his house, or stole his personal items, but it's not supposed to be that way because it's a joke.
And as for your complaint about Adrien leaving people to drown, you can go ahead and blame Master Fu for that one. It's stated quite clearly in the show that the heroes couldn't do anything because everything is underwater. And he's staying there because he's waiting for Ladybug. Making up imaginary civilians who are drowning now isn't a good criticism. Ladybug spends a good amount of time underwater, but there's no-one there. There's no civilian begging for Chat Noir's help as they drown while he ignores them, so suffice to say that we're supposed to assume everyone is safe and sound. This is a kids show, so unless we're shown that people are in danger, we aren't supposed to assume they are.
And then let's talk about Adrien almost quitting.
I'll say it straight: he has every right to quit. He's a 14-year-old kid. This isn't his job. He's well within his rights to quit if he feels like this is detrimental to him. And it isn't about Ladybug not returning his feelings like you seem to be implying. This is about Ladybug keeping secrets from him and leaving him in the dark even though he's supposedly her partner. It took a situation like this for Master Fu to pull his head out of his ass and come give Adrien the tools he needed to do the damn job you're accusing him of not doing. How is he supposed to do anything if he isn't given then necessary tools and knowledge to do it? Should he just accept that he's being ignored and left in the dark? Accept his new role as Ladybug's unquestioning lapdog?
This is not Ladybug salt btw, this is Master Fu salt only, in this house we don't like Master Fu.
Anyway.
Literally look at why he tries to quit.
Adrien:(grimly) If you don't tell me what Ladybug is hiding from me, I'm done! Plagg: You can't do that! Adrien:(bitterly) Why not? No one'll know if I quit. No one'll care!
He doesn't think he's needed. He doesn't think anyone would care if he quits.
This isn't because of any entitlement. It's because he's being cast aside and left in the dark. It's because his partner (it's not her fault either, to be clear, it's Master Fu's fault) is keeping secrets from him even in this time, so he assumes he isn't needed and decides to quit because he feels like he's unnecessary and unwanted, and that no one will care if he quits. Adrien already has very low self-worth, and this is just adding onto all that already. If it is detrimental to his mental health, then he definitely has the right to step aside and quit.
So yeah. If this ask was to get me to change my mind, I'm sorry, but it didn't. You're entitled to your opinion, of course, but I think I've made my opinion on the matter clear.

You know before the reveal of Feast, I actually had a fanfic-ish theory on what destroyed the order, the peacock and what had Fu so Scared
I initially had this theory of the guardians not only protecting the miraculous from the world but the world from the Kwamis, since there’s so many concepts (propulsion, destruction, action, etc) I thought that some concepts would be too dangerous with the Kwamis acting according their Concept (Plagg is a trouble maker, the tiger is loud, the bee is loyal, etc) so I thought of kwamis which acted on their concept way too much (regeneration regenerating too much which caused things like painful deformations, infection basically creating monster zombies, fortification being walking fortress of destruction, manipulation causing wars out of pure pleasure, etc) and I thought the thing that destroyed the order would be like the opposite of Plagg and Tikki, the two are a eternal loop of balance, of entropy and birth, of light and darkness, creation and destruction. So the bad guy would be the End of said valance
Like a villain similar to the Lich of adventure time which wanted nothing but the destruction of everything, the end of the cycle, the end of everything that is, was and will be. A villain that would mark himself has evil and would keep doing it because that’s he’s nature and doesn’t think he should go against it
I think Fu would have accidentally freed this Kwami of the end but the guardians sacrificed themselves and thousands of miraculouses (because we already have enough heroes) to trap it once again and the reason Fu ran away is because some of the leaking power of the End miraculous freed some minions of the kwami which want the miraculous of creation and Destruction so their master can destroy EVERYTHING
In a show about the miraculous (heck they even come before of ladybug’s and cat noir’s name) I think the most fitting villain would be a miraculous
That would explain why Fu was so scared of losing the Miraculous without pulling up the stupidity of the wish in default ending the world, since losing the miraculous could mean Literally the end of everything
Heck I even made a OC (the minion of the kwami chasing down Fu) which was just “hey what if I make a villain rival for ladybug that doesn’t have disgusting implications of being a minor (a rival that is a adult) so when she’s defeated the audience will cheer instead of being disgusted or sad for seeing a (technical) child being dragged into the depths of HELL” also to explain why the peacock was broken since the miraculous of the end (which rivals the power of creation and destruction together) could 100 break the miraculous, it would make the audience know how dangerous this powers are and would make it look important since the damage he caused started the whole show
Also it would rise the stakes better than Gabriel’s personality making a 180 and the wish having the most bullshit consequences, since the wish would be used to end the world
I even wrote a fanfic of the escaped minion being the reason the Timeline changes in cat blanc to make the world end, so the audience knows how corruptive, destructive, unnatural, evil this kwami is with its first plan including manipulating the minds of kids (Rossi slightly and heavily Lila) to start all the events, manipulate Gabriel to hurt he’s son, make cat Blanc fight ladybug and destroy the world. Lila and chloe are just kids, Gabriel is a broken man, but this thing? This thing and he’s minions are what people B.C. saw that inspired the Devil, Hell and demons
Seriously when I discovered a sentimonster (one the order had designed on their book) was the one who destroyed ALL of the guardians, I felt nothing but disappointment, specially when they don’t explain how the peacock was broken by a mere sentimonster
I expected something grand, something that would make Gabriel see the error of he’s ways with how insignificant he is compared to the forces he was trying to control, but instead I just got a sentimonster…
Am I the one in the wrong? Was I expecting too much? Because even till this day I still feel disappointed, specially by how pathetic and uninteresting Feast was. seriously if you changed Feast and that dragon giant from the Shanghai special, I would be pleased since at least I can see a threatening, smart and powerful monster which scales above Hawkmoth in every way (power, evilness, design, lore) being the one at fault of the destruction of this mighty guardians, but instead they died to a frog!
That was a pretty interesting and detailed backstory, anon. Do you have a link to the fanfic you wrote involving the minion?
You're not wrong to expect more from the backstory of one of this show's characters. I don't think anyone really expected the backstory that kicked off the plot to amount to "The monks who trained me were dicks, I got hungry, so I played God and accidentally wiped out the aforementioned monks with a blue frog."

Tales of Bloody Bug and Chat Noir - Chapter 12 - Pharoah
Beginning || Previous || Next
Alix ran around the new Tutankhamun exhibit in the Louvre. Jalil followed her and explained each display. She took notes before he started in on his theories to the next. She made her way to Tutankhamun’s specter as their dad joined them.
“How’s everything going, you two?” Alim asked.
“Amazing. I’ll have the best project for History yet,” Alix beamed.
            “And you, Jalil?”
“It’s unbelievable! You managed to get everything I need,” Jalil exclaimed.
            “Need for what?” Alim pressed.
Alix rolled her eyes. “Oh, here we go.”
“Indeed. I want to direct your attention to the scroll on this wall.”
Alim and Alix followed Jalil as they approached an adjacent wall.
“So, Dad, you know this, but for Alix, the one with the scepter is Tutankhamun the First. There, opposite, is Nefertiti, his princess. There are exactly one hundred mummies beside them. She died several years before him and the sun god, Ra, took her as his goddess.”
“Get to the point,” Alix said.
“I am. Tutankhamun wanted to bring his princess back to life by offering the sun god a new wife. The scene illustrates a ritual he devised. However, nobody has ever fully deciphered the hieroglyphics, but I have. It’s a magic chant that needs to be recited in order to complete the ritual. I’m sure of it. I just need the scepter and I can carry out the ritual.”
“I mean, that’s cool and all, but it looks like you need a human sacrifice for the ritual. Aren’t we long past that?” Alix asked.
Alim sighed. “Jalil, I love the interest you take in your study, but even if it were to work, I can’t allow you to do that.”
“Yeah. And the human sacrifice thing again. Who would you even use for it? Did you even think of that?”
“Indeed, I did. The lucky sacrifice I picked is none other than Chloe Bourgeois,” Jalil announced.
Jalil pulled out a crudely drawn imitation of Chloe. Alix snickered while Alim scowled.
            “Alix, don’t laugh at that.”
“I mean, it’s kinda funny,” Alix admitted.
“No, it’s not, young lady,” Alim scolded.
Alix pursed her lips as Alim stepped closer to Jalil.
“As I’ve said, I admire your dedication and passion for history and the supernatural aspects of it, but I cannot allow this. Not only because I cannot stake my entire career and our livelihood on a potential legend, but I will not let you indulge in these murderous fantasies.”
“Don’t you see it’s perfect? We could discover the secret to resurrection and keep Alix safe. No more anger, no more worries.”
            “How would this help her?”
“Because Chloe is clearly a focal point for a lot of Alix’s anger and stress. We remove that and-.”
“Absolutely not. Jalil, do you hear yourself? We should be helping Alix work through it to the point. Not eliminating the cause without knowing the reason why. Without getting rid of the roots, it will spread. If not Chloe, it’ll be someone or something else.”
            “But-!”
“Enough! I won’t hear of this anymore. I want you to take the day off, Jalil. I need you to get your head on straight before you even consider coming back here.”
Jalil opened his mouth but closed it and stormed off.
“Dad, you’re not upset that we aren’t making progress on my… issues, are you?” Alix asked.
“Alix, honey, no. You are young and going through a lot of change in your life while dealing with a past trauma. It is a challenge, but we’ll handle it at the pace that you’re comfortable with. That is what matters most.”
“But what if we never find out? What if I don’t get better?”
“Sometimes that happens. Which, we just need to learn to adapt, just as our ancestors did. We are still human and capable of so much. Even if you never find the source of your anger and trauma, you’ll learn to adapt and live around it. Sometimes it’s all we can do. Much like your mother.”
            “Was she hurt?”
“Well, let’s just say she didn’t have the upbringing you and Jalil have. Far from actually. It made her very slow to trust and guarded. I’m still amazed I got through her walls, but I’m glad I did. I got to be with the most amazing, flawed woman and human I’ve ever known. On top of that, we had two equally amazing and flawed children, just like we are.”
“Is that why you push me to make friends?”
“It is another reason, yes. I know it’s cliché to say love saved us, but it really did. I wasn’t half the man I was before I met your mom. She made sure to toughen me up and in return, I softened her. With me, she was able to open herself up, even if it was just a little.”
            “Did Mom have trouble too?”
“Oh, yes. And I’d get to hear all about it, but that was all part of the process. It’s a slow and painful one, but one that must be taken at your own pace.”
“Excuse me, but are you the Director of the museum?” Nathalie asked.
Alim and Alix turned to the entrance where Adrien stood with Nathalie and Gorilla. Alim stepped forward.
“I am. May I help you?”
“My boss’s son heard about this exhibit arriving and wanted to visit it to gather information for a school project. Is it open?” Nathalie explained.
“It may not be open just yet, but I can allow this. After all, my own daughter has been doing the same. Uh, Alix?”
Alix stepped up beside Alim. “Yeah?”
“Would you assist him while Jalil is out for the day?”
            “Do I have to?”
“No, but I would appreciate it.”
Alix considered, approached Adrien, and gave him her notes. “Give these back to me or you will hurt.”
“That’s not what I exactly had in mind,” Alim remarked.
“Sorry, Dad, but I do have to get to roller derby.”
Alim’s eyes widened. “I forgot about roller derby! It’s not a match today, is it?”
            “No, just practice.”
“Thank goodness. Do you need a ride?”
            “Nah, I’m good. Thanks though.”
“Stay safe, Alix. See you for lunch!”
Alix waved goodbye and headed for the museum exit. She stopped when a tall, muscular man with roseish black skin, blue glowing eyes, and decked out in gold Egyptian jewelry, shendyt, and mask. She eyed Jalil’s scarab necklace in the collection of jewelry.
            “Jalil?” Alix asked.
“Jalil is gone. I’m the Pharoah!”
Alix grimaced and ran. She headed back to the Tutankhamun exhibit. She made it down the steps when Pharoah blocked her path. She skidded to a stop and scrambled back.
“You’re fast, Alix, but not fast enough.”
“Enough, Jalil! Cut the fucking crap!” Alix roared.
            “Alix?” Alim called.
Pharoah turned where Alim’s voice came from. Alix took the opportunity and ran to hide. She transformed into Bloody Bug and ran back to the exhibit. She spotted Pharoah approaching Alim while Adrien, Nathalie, and Gorilla made their escape. She chunked her yo-yo in, and it wrapped around Alim. She pulled him out of Pharoah’s path.
“Go! I’ll keep him busy!” Bloody Bug yelled.
            Alim hesitated, then ran.
Bloody Bug turned as Pharoah closed the gap. Her eyes widened to see his mask had shifted to a lion’s head. He landed a blow on her side and sent her into the wall. The impact created a crater with her plastered to the bottom of it. She took a sharp breath as she felt the pain through her suit. He reached in, grabbed her face, and lifted her up.
“Fucking bastard! That hurt!” Bloody Bug roared.
“Then let’s make this easy for both of us. Give me your earrings.”
“Over my dead body! Lucky Charm!”
Ladybugs swirled and created an unassuming box. Pharoah laughed and picked it up.
“Is this the best you can do, little bug?”
Bloody Bug snarled and swung her legs up. She hit the corner of the box and it exploded. Pharoah yelled as she was propelled back. She rolled and staggered to her feet. She headed out of the museum as she heard his furious screams. She got as much distance between her and Louvre as possible. She slipped into an alleyway and de-transformed. She leaned against a wall and groaned.
            “That hurt.”
“This is bad. We should go see Master,” Tikki said.
“My thoughts too, Tikki. I think we should use elation. What do you think?”
“Maybe call Bomb Bee back too?”
Alix nodded. She stuck Tikki in her cap and headed for Wang Fu’s massage parlor. She headed in and found him finishing with a patient.
“Ah, my next client. I’ll see you next week,” Wang Fu said to the patient.
Alix slipped past the patient and shut the door. “I’m going to need help again.”
“Twice in a row? It’s not that one girl again, is it?”
“I’d rather that. No, my brother was akumatized into this demigod thing. He had a normal mask, then it was a lions, and then I was seismic punched into a wall with my own impact crater. Still feel the sting of it.”
“Not to mention she blew up the exhibit and scepter that Jalil wanted to use to perform an ancient sacrificial ritual. So, he’s going to be coming right for her,” Tikki added.
Wang Fu’s eyes widened. “That’s… concerning to say the least. Alright, one moment.”
Alix took a seat while Wang Fu retrieved the Miraculous Box. She lifted her shirt to check for bruising, but didn’t’ see anything. She had expected to see a massive black bruise of Pharoah’s fist in her side.
“Don’t worry. So long as you have me on, you won’t sustain any injuries, though you’ll feel the pain still,” Tikki reassured.
           “Fucking lovely,” Alix groaned.
“Alright, here we are. Make your choices,” Wang Fu said.
“How many am I allowed?” Alix asked.
Wang Fu considered. “I’ll lend you three this time. Just as before, they are to be returned immediately after.”
“Well, I know I want elation and action, but what would you suggest for a third?”
Wang Fu considered, then took off the turtle shell bracelet he wore. “This belongs to the kwami of protection. I think you can guess what it does.”
Alix snorted. “I don’t know. It might take a lot of guesses. Oh, you have anything I could give Tikki to recharge?”
Wang Fu nodded. He left and returned shortly after with a plate of store-bought cookies. Tikki munched on a few before she flew up.
            “All good.”
“Good. Saddle up, it’s going to be a long run,” Alix said.
            “We aren’t transforming?”
“You said it yourself. He’s coming for Bloody Bug. It’d take longer, but we’d keep the others safe until we get the jewels to them. Now, in the cap.”
Tikki giggled and hid under Alix’s cap. Alix messaged Marinette, asking where she and Alya were. She waited a minute when Marinette said she and Alya were at Places des Vosages. She put her phone away and headed to the location. She spotted them with Nino, sitting on the fountain. She slipped into an alleyway, transformed, and lassoed the three of them. She pulled them into the alley with her.
“Woah! Bloody Bug? What’s up, dude?” Nino asked.
“No time. I need help. I decided to pick a fight with a god and pissed them off. You three are going to help.”
Alya squealed and jumped forward. Bloody Bug handed Alya the bee comb. Alya bounced, put the comb in her hair, and transformed into Bomb Bee.
Nino’s jaw dropped as he pointed at Bomb Bee.
            “Surprised? You should be.”
Bloody Bug snapped her fingers, getting Nino’s attention. She held up the panja bracelet for Marinette and the shell bracelet for Nino. “You two have the same deal as Alya. You get these for one time, help me, and give them back. Marinette, prove yourself strong and not too soft-hearted by accepting elation. Nino, you’re just here, so congratulations.”
Marinette put on the panja bracelet while Nino put on the shell bracelet. Orbs shot out and circled them before they morphed into a magenta tiger kwami and a green turtle kwami.
“Alright, make this snappy you two. We have a god hunting me,” Bloody Bug urged.
“Oh my. Very well. I am Wayzz, kwami of protection. Pleasure to meet you, young man.
“And I’m Roarr! Kwami of elation at your service, girlie!”
“Tell them what they can do and how to transform,” Bloody Bug interjected.
“Right. You can generate a shield saying ‘Shelter.’ To transform, say, ‘Wayzz, shell on.’ To de-transform, say, ‘Wayzz, shell off,’” Wayzz explained.
“And for me, when you say ‘Clout,’ you can deliver a devastating sucker punch! Oh, and “Roarr, stripes on,’ to transform and ‘Roarr, stripes off,’ to de-transform,” Roarr yelled.
“Be careful with these powers. One per transformation and then you have five minutes before you turn back. Now, suit up,” Bloody Bug ordered.
            “Wayzz, shell on!”
            “Roarr, stripes on!”
~~
“Sekhmet, give me your strength!” Pharoah demanded.
Chat Noir ran in as Pharoah’s mask shifted to a lion. Pharoah clapped his hands together that sent a shockwave that repelled Chat Noir. Chat Noir scrambled to his feet as Pharoah grabbed his face.
“Where is that wretch, Bloody Bug?”
“Couldn’t tell you even if I wanted to, which I don’t.”
“You’ll soon change that tune when I-,” Pharoah started.
            “Hey, ugly!” Bloody Bug yelled.
Pharoah turned to see Bloody Bug standing atop a nearby building. He laughed and dropped Chat Noir. He stepped forward when Bloody Bug jumped down and approached him.
“Bug, what are you doing?” Chat Noir asked.
“Oh, you know. The same thing as before.”
Chat Noir raised a brow as Bloody Bug didn’t move. He stepped forward to intervene, but she held up a hand and counted down from five. He tilted his head when she got to one and used her Lucky Charm that created a simple book.
“A book? That’s just as useless as your bomb,” Pharoah mocked.
“See, that’s where you’re wrong. The book is a trident true that’s never failed me before.”
            “We’ll see about that.”
Pharoah reached for Bloody Bug, but she jumped back. She hurled the book at his head that staggered him. Chat Noir jumped in and knocked Pharoah off his feet temporarily. Pharoah got back to his feet as a massive spinning top slammed into him. Bomb Bee and a cerise tiger heroine stood atop the spinning toy.
Chat Noir’s jaw dropped, and eyes widened seeing the tiger girl. He was captivated by her simple, yet beautiful tiger-themed suit that was cerise, the perfect blend of red and pink, of femininity and aggression, accented elegantly with bronze stripes. Her deep magenta hair was pulled back into a pair of high pigtails that whipped wildly in the wind. All that paled in comparison to her savage, orange tiger eyes that shone with a wild delight.
            “Cowabunga, my dudes!”
Chat Noir snapped out of his trace as a guy in a turtle themed superhero suit shield surfed past him, pulled along by Bomb Bee. He tilted his head at the nagging familiarity of the turtle hero’s voice.
“Curse you, Bloody Bug! Too cowardly to face me alone?” Pharoah roared.
“Aww, is the cowardly lion too scared to face us?” Bomb Bee mocked.
            “Excuse me?”
“C’mon, meow meow. Let’s see how those tiny claws compare to a real wildcat.”
Bomb Bee gestured to the tiger hero, who stood ready to fight. Pharoah shook his head and went for Bloody Bug, but the turtle hero cut him off as Pharoah’s attack bounced off the turtle shield.
“I don’t think so, my dude. You want Bloody Bug, you’ll need to defeat me. Before you defeat me, you’ll need to beat them.”
Pharoah roared and reared his arm back for another attack.
            “Shelter!”
A dome-like turtle shield covered the turtle hero, Bloody Bug, and Chat Noir. Pharoah pounded on the barrier, but it wouldn’t relent.
“Anyway, will he does that, name’s Carapace, dude Noir.”
“You… seem familiar. Have we met?”
“Can’t say we have. If we have, hit me up. I wouldn’t mind this hero gig again.”
Chat Noir hummed as he looked back at the tiger hero. Pharoah finally turned away from them back to Bomb Bee and the tiger.
“Fine. I’ll squish you two first.”
“Let’s test the strength of your claws, kitten. Clout!” the tiger exclaimed.
Chat Noir watched as the tiger and Pharoah’s fists connected that sent shockwaves out that ripped apart the street. They stood even for a brief second before the tiger pushed back against Pharoah. He struggled to fight against her when Bomb Bee snuck around and used Venom to paralyze him.
Carapace dropped the shield, allowing Bloody Bug to take the necklace and break it. The Akuma flew up from the broken pendant. She caught and purified it, then grabbed her book and threw it up.
            “Miraculous!”
The book burst into a swarm of ladybugs that repaired the damage done while Pharoah reverted to Jalil.
“What happened? Where am I?” Jalil asked.
“You were akumatized. I had destroyed the Tutankhamun exhibit and painted a target on myself. Now, any reason you went into that exhibit?” Bloody Bug asked.
“I… wanted to used Tutankhamun’s scepter to perform a ritual. I hoped to prove one of my theories true, but also protect my little sister.”
            “Little sister?” the tiger asked.
“Yeah. She had a foul run-in with that awful Chloe Bourgeois and was nearly consumed by her rage. It sent her spiraling and I just… I wanted to keep her from that happening. She was so scared of it and I hated seeing her so broken down. I felt like I couldn’t do anything when I should be able to. I’m her older brother, and I can’t do anything to help her. What good am I to her?”
Bomb Bee started towards Jalil when Bloody Bug knelt.
“Your sister sounds like a hard case to crack, which I can relate to. It’s not easy going through life with those challenges. She’s going to have her highs and lows as we all do, but the biggest thing you can do is just be there for her. As long as you do that, you’re doing great.”
Jalil’s eyes widened as Bloody Bug saw a flash of recognition. He reached out and pulled her into his arms. “Thank you! Thank you so much! I promise I’ll be there, always!”
Bloody Bug chuckled nervously. She patted Jalil’s head, then pushed him away as her earrings chirped.
“Bug, you’re about to change back,” Chat Noir said.
“Fuck. Cat, get this man back to his home. Carapace, Bomb Bee, and Lady Tigress, move it.”
Chat Noir watched the four of them all head in different directions. He watched the tiger, Lady Tigress, vanish before he scooped up Jalil.
“Where am I taking you?” Chat Noir asked.
            “Uh, the Louvre.”
“Right-o! I’ll have you there faster than you can say ‘meow.’”
~~
Alix returned home after she gave the miraculous jewels back to Wang Fu. She managed to swing by roller derby, but she had missed practice. Her coach would have laid into her, but she explained Jalil was akumatized and she didn’t want to put the team at risk, which shut her coach up. She had checked her phone periodically on her way home to see Chat Noir had eagerly messaged her, asking about Lady Tigress. She had put her phone on silent as she ignored him, not wanting to indulge his curosity.
Alix headed for the stairs when Alim called to her. She turned as he grabbed her shoulders and looked her over.
“Are you ok? Are you hurt? Any injuries, bruises, or anything?” Alim asked.
“I’m fine. It was just practice, Dad. We don’t actually hurt each other until match time.”
“You’re talking about… derby? No, Alix, not that. I’m talking about your fight with Pharoah. You’re not hurt, are you? I saw the impact and the overall destruction of the exhibit, but-.”
“Wait, Dad, you aren’t saying I’m Bloody Bug, are you?”
“Alix, you can’t fool me. Well, maybe. I didn’t recognize you immediately. It was like I saw you, but it wasn’t you. It was… such a strange feeling not being able to recognize you from your face. As your father, I should, but I couldn’t. I likely wouldn’t have until you spoke. I didn’t place the voice immediately, but I know your tone and speech patterns. They’re just like your mother’s.”
“Yeah, you can’t hide the truth from us, Alix!” Jalil yelled.
Alix glanced over as Jalil ran down the stairs and joined the conversation.
“I heard it too. It was harder for me to place, but I caught on once I recognized where I’ve heard such a tone before.”
“Ah, fuck it. Fine, yes. I’m Bloody Bug,” Alix admitted.
Jalil gasped. “We knew it! How do you do it? Did you gain them from some ancient ritual or a blessing from an old god?”
Alix rolled her eyes and took off her cap. Jalil and Alim looked at Tikki, who was curled up taking a nap.
“Interesting. Looks like Jalil’s theory of magic creatures might have some weight after all,” Alim mumbled.
“Does that mean you’ll-,” Jalil started.
“Absolutely not. Jalil, we have to keep this secret. That means no interrogating whatever this creature is or revealing any information regarding Alix’s superhero identity.”
“So, wait, you’re not mad? And you’re not going to tell me to stop?”
Alim sighed. “I would like to, but I know you. You listen when you want to but have developed a habit of disregarding the rules. Not all, but a lot of them. I know if I told you to stop, you’d just keep doing this. It’s how you are and how your mother was. You both are the types to learn by doing. It won’t matter how much I warn you otherwise, you’ll still do it to find out for yourself.”
“That’s not always true. I listen to you sometimes.”
“Yes, but would you listen to me on this?”
            “Probably not.”
“Exactly. I don’t necessarily like it, but I can’t stop you. I want to keep you safe, but I can’t always. You’re in those stages where you are becoming your own person. As much as I’d rather shelter you, I know she wouldn’t want that. She’d have encouraged and supported you, so that’s what I’ll do. For you and for her.”
Alix took a shaky breath. “I appreciate it, but you don’t have to do everything for her if you don’t want to.”
Alim chuckled as a tear fell. “Well, maybe not, but it’s how I can honor her memory and wishes. To see you both happy and strong, just like she will have always wanted. For you both to live a life where you could be yourself. If being Bloody Bug is part of that for you, I will support it and you.”
Tears fell from Alix’s eyes as she hugged Alim. “Thank you.”
Tikki yawned and sat up. “What’s going on?”
“Ah, she’s awake. Greetings, little creature. It’s a pleasure to meet you,” Alim said.
            Tikki blinked. “Uh, Alix?”
“They know. My voice gave it away,” Alix said.
“Oh. Yeah, the glamor isn’t the best in this age, but we’re also not designed for this kind of environment. So, yeah,” Tikki remarked.
“What’s the glamor do?” Jalil asked.
“It masks our holder’s identity. The appearance is the big one, except it can’t mask the immutable like body mass and height. It can also hide the voice, but not necessarily the tone and speech. Which, I guess that’s how you figured it out, Mr. Kubdel?” Tikki asked.
“Yes, but please, call me Alim.”
“Well met, Alim. My name’s Tikki.”
“Likewise, Tikki. Are you by chance hungry? Is that something you can do?” Alim asked.
“She can and probably is. I didn’t have any extra snacks packed, so, yeah.”
“Not to worry. I’ll help you with that. What do you eat, Tikki?”
            “Sugar. Preferably sweets.”
“Well, that would explain the boxes I’ve been seeing from that one bakery run by Tom and Sabine.”
“Yeah, I’ve been treating Tikki a little more. Plus, I had received a free box of macaroons from Tom last week for when Cat and I kept Marinette safe from Evillustrator.”
“Treating me or yourself?” Tikki grumbled.
“Hey! I get hungry too and they do have the best pastries in all of Paris. So, I’m allowed to indulge too,” Alix remarked.
Alim chuckled. “Alright, you two. I can swing by and get some pastries for Tikki. Let you use your money on other things, Alix. Just make sure you’re still careful out there, ok?”
            “Always. Thank you, Dad.”
Alim smiled and hugged Alix. “Always, Alix. I love you.”
            “I love you too, Dad.”

Chapter 13: The Knitting Fairy
This is my story about Sabine & Marinette for the @mlbigbang. The story is from Sabine's POV as she tries to figure out what has been traumatizing her little girl (who, by the way, will not tell her anything).
Thanks also to @uptoolateart and @raspberrycatapult. These two absolute legends get me through the gauntlet chapter in and chapter out.
Synopsis
Sabine trains Ladybug in martial arts. She needs a little miraculous help to keep up. And then an old friend she'd once had for dinner shows up.
Extract
Sabine still wasn’t sure how she felt about sharing her home with a god. She seemed nice enough, but didn’t gods usually come with words like Ragnarok, Armageddon, and...Cataclysm?
At least she didn’t live with whatever god gave Chat Noir that ability. What would it be like to break bread with something that could end reality?
What if her partner ever went crazy and touched Marinette with that power? Could the Goddess of Creation hold off the Goddess of…Destruction?
Sabine felt the blood drain from her face, recalling what she’d read in Marinette’s diary. She had been so high on adrenaline and fear that her memories were a threadbare quilt, unraveling even as it was stitched together. There was something about Chat Noir, and…
Her skin froze, and she felt like someone had curled their fingers under her rib cage and pressed up into her organs. Our love did this to the world.

The World Under The Supreme - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.
Action packed posts with Claw Noir and Shadybug are coming but some important details of their world need to be addressed first! These will be relevant in posts to come.
So prepare yourself; EmoNette and EmoAdrien live in a dark world… A world that Betterfly hopes to change.
The GOOD:
Religion is not a crime, which is why celebrating holidays like Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanza, etc. is permitted, even if the true meaning behind those celebrations has been lost over the years.
After all, for some people, their faith is all they have- Plus, it’s good for capitalism!
HOWEVER, organized religion is nearly a thing of the past…
In every country, Churches, Temples, Mosques, etc. are HEAVILY TAXED.
The Supreme has the ONLY say in law, so religious “leaders” have no authority or power.  So, unable to become filthy rich off of devout believers, and unable to sway people to commit atrocities in the name of “God”, there is no point.
As such, those who do still have some kind of belief in a deity, choose to practice quietly at home.
As a result, there is peace!
Women all over the world have autonomy over their own bodies AND reproductive rights!
Girls are allowed to learn to read without fear of being burned with acid.
Circumcision of boys and girls (yes, some countries mutilate girl’s genitalia for religious reasons) no longer exists.
Only old grannies wear hijab because women actually have a choice (not just wear it or be stoned to death).
                   THERE IS NO CASTE SYSTEM.
                        No child marriages.
                            Pedophilia is rare.
                                 Homosexuality is not illegal.
Anti-vaxers DO NOT EXIST!
So there has been a lot of progress in medicine (good news for Rose!)
No school teaches creationism or claims that man lived at the same time as dinosaurs.
But churches, even famous ones like Notre Dame, Sistine Chapel, Saint Basil's Cathedral, etc. are seen as old relics… tourist sight seeing destinations at most.
But with the taxes being so heavy, and so few people who identify with any religion, it is not profitable to maintain up-keep on these decrepit buildings.
As such, when they fall into enough disrepair as to be considered “unsafe” even for tourists, they too will be condemned and demolished so the land can be purchased by the highest bidder and something more useful will be constructed there.
 The BAD:
Mutual aid is a crime… Socialism is forbidden… Protests are not tolerated and severely punished!
There is no such thing as Charity.
There are no donations of toys to sick kids in hospitals.
(Prince Ali, non-existent is he, Ali never-heard-of-ya’… Princes and Kings, no such things, only The Supreeeeeme~)
*No, I will not write out the whole dang song. I don’t want to get sued by a company with mouse ears, thanks.
Everyone pays their own way in life. Those that can’t pay are forced to work (which is why there are no homeless people asking for spare change on the streets).
There is no cooperation without compensation.
The strange, odd, abnormal ones are those who wish to offer help without expecting anything in return.
(You can’t achieve freedom with one person. Freedom is only achieved by collective cooperation, sacrifice, and compassion for others, no matter how different they may be. So long as everyone only looks out for themselves and keeps their heads down rather than risk getting punished for sticking their neck out for others, Freedom for all is impossible. This is the dark price of Wang Fu’s wish for World Peace.)
The Ugly:
Everyone pays the price for selfishness. Especially the planet.
In a world that only cares about “me”, the comforts and profits of the current generation, there is little to no concern for what future generations will inherit, including the planet.
Quick and easy money, progress for profit with no consideration for environmental impact has been the norm since the end of WW2.
Pollution is a world wide issue;
Costs of food are higher everywhere because crops and livestock take a LOT of money to grow.
Crops (grain, fruit, and vegetables) have always been more expensive of course because they require so much land, water, time, and workers to produce.
But with polluted air darkening skies, tainted soil, rapid decline of bees, butterflies, and bats, and such dirty water… Plants are suffering.
Crops require massive greenhouse facilities, heavily filtered hydroponics systems, and hundreds of thousands of human workers to pollinate things by hand (yes, we do that even now for rare plants), or at least until Tsurugi Enterprises can develop robots to replace human workers.
Since grass is not that hardy and expensive to maintain, free range livestock is just not possible.  And since most grain has no nutritional value for humans (we can’t really digest it, it is mainly grown to fatten livestock) it is even more expensive since it is a pain in the butt to produce and is mainly consumed by animals, thus meat, dairy, and egg prices have gone up.
Flowers are more expensive than jewelry.
Since only the hardiest plants can endure the world’s level of pollution, many animals have gone extinct and forests are suffering.
Only the richest of cities still have “parks” though they are a far cry from what we think of as parks.
Most flowers are delicate, so many varieties that we are familiar with can not be grown in your average backyard garden or found in pots on a balcony.
An orchid flower is worth more than a diamond.
The hardy, invasive, “ugly” flowers that we consider as weeds have replaced the wildflowers we once knew.
Only the rich can afford to go to a florist to afford luxuries like carnations, tulips, lilies, daffodils, snapdragons, lilacs, peonies, or something as flashy as a rose.
But thanks to Bertrand King, even the lower class can enjoy the beauty of a bouquet thanks to plastic flowers!
     Plastic truly is fantastic!
And unlike, fragile, boring, real flowers… PLASTIC FLOWERS can come in any color you want! And they last forever!
Even a poor man can feel rich if they decorate their home with plastic potted ferns!
The best part? You don’t have to waste water!  They are so hygienic too! No dirt, no bugs, no allergies, no rotting, dying leaves to prune and clean up!  No worries about little kids or pets eating poison leaves!
Plastic plants never lose their luster! They are durable, washable, colorful!
             Can’t afford a diamond?
              You buy cubic zirconia!
                    Can’t afford a houseplant?
                     Buy plastic!
Of course, there IS one event where even someone living paycheck to paycheck can get a chance to see a variety of REAL flowers (assuming they can pay the admission fee).
Every year, people all over the globe celebrate “World Peace Day”, where they give thanks to The Supreme for putting an end to WW2 and preventing any other war thereafter!
There is no celebration more massive!
On that day, Major cities show off their wealth (through the taxes of the citizens) to throw not only parades, but have massive displays of real flowers for citizens to admire (for a price).
It is a day many look forward to!
A day that celebrates peace between all people regardless of race, ethnicity, or religion!
A day of life and beauty!
ALL HAIL THE SUPREME!

"I'm sorry Master Fu, but... I don't think I can do this anymore."
‘I’m sorry, Master Fu, but… I don’t think I can do this anymore.’
Adrien watched as Master Fu’s eyes bugged out. ‘What?’
‘I can’t keep doing this anymore,’ Adrien repeated.
‘You don’t want to be Chat Noir anymore?’ Fu asked, voice strangled with panic and alarm.
‘Of course I want to be Chat Noir,’ Adrien answered, ‘but I can’t keep being him if things are going to stay this way.’
The panic and alarm gave way to confusion. ‘Do you mean with defeating Hawk Moth?’
Adrien shook his head. ‘I mean being a part of this team.’
-oOo-
Chat Noir landed on the rooftop where Ladybug was already waiting to start their patrol. His heart skipped happily at the mere sight of her, and he sighed in relief. Since that brush of lips, that near-kiss he had with Marinette at the wax museum earlier that day, he had been an absolute mess of emotions, wondering if his heart was so fickle that one little kiss could make him fall for someone who wasn’t his Lady. But now, with his heart doing its usual routine of happy backflips upon seeing Ladybug, he decided that all was right in the world (and that he could examine his newfound - perhaps temporary? - feelings for Marinette later).
‘Good evening, m’lady,’ he greeted as he sat down next to her at the edge of the rooftop.
She turned to him, smiling happily. ‘Hey, Chat!’
He couldn’t help but smile in return. ‘You are in a good mood. Did you have a good day?’
Ladybug grimaced like she had just bitten into a lemon. ‘Wasn’t the greatest, but luckily not as horrible as it could’ve been.’
‘Oh?’
‘I’d rather not dwell on it,’ she said, before shaking her head, and her expression cleared. ‘But I’d rather talk to you about something far more pleasant!’
‘I’m all ears,’ he said, wiggling his faux cat ears, and grinned when he was rewarded with a giggle. She turned where she was sitting to face him, struggling to sit still as if she were a puppy and he was holding a bone in his hand.
‘How’s your training with Master Fu going?’ she asked enthusiastically, the words practically bursting from her. ‘I’ve been desperate to ask for ages, but I didn’t want to bombard you too early, because I didn’t want to jump too far ahead of where you might’ve been in your training, but surely you’ve learnt enough for us to talk about most things freely together, and-’
‘Ladybug, wait,’ Chat cut in, and she paused, her arms comically frozen in the air from when she had been waving them about excitedly, ‘what training?’
Her arms dropped and she frowned. ‘Uh, the training on the Miraculous?’
‘I’m supposed to be getting training?’ he asked, and her frown deepened.
‘Yeah,’ she said. ‘When was the last time you saw Fu?’
‘Saw him? Uh… when we fought against Party Crasher? But if you’re talking about having an actual sit-down conversation with him-’ she nodded, ‘-then not since after we faced Syren.’
‘Syren?’ she repeated incredulously. ‘But that was months ago!’
‘Yeah,’ he said, ‘but that chat was more like a general overview rather than anything I’d consider to be training.’
‘Ugh!’ she exclaimed, jumping up to her feet and starting to pace. ‘What is his problem?’
‘What do you mean?’ Chat asked, turning where he sat to face her.
‘Back around the time of us facing Syren, you were getting frustrated by your role and being left in the dark with identities and all things Miraculous, remember?’ she began.
‘Yeah, I remember,’ he responded. ‘I almost quit that day.’
‘What?’ she yelped, swivelling around to face him. ‘Y-you almost left? Why?’
He cringed; he had never wanted to admit to her how low he had felt that day, but now that it was out, he supposed he should address it.
‘I didn’t feel like you trusted me,’ he confessed, his heart breaking as he saw the pain in her eyes. ’Suddenly, there are more Miraculouses, and I didn’t know about them until you put them into play. There were new team members that just popped up mid-battle that you didn’t trust me with their identities. When we started being superheroes, it was just the two of us, and the only secrets we had between us were our identities, but at some point, that changed. I felt less like your partner and more like your out-of-the-loop sidekick. I had no knowing where it all went wrong, and your lips were sealed tighter than a jam jar. I didn’t feel valued.’
‘A-and now?’ Ladybug asked, her voice soft but the guilt was earth-shatteringly loud. ‘After Master Fu spoke with you when Syren was over, did those feelings change?’
Chat sighed.
‘They lessened for a time,’ he admitted, ‘because he had explained he was training you, and that’s why you couldn’t tell me everything. He told me that he was the Guardian and gave me an overview about his role, he handed me the power-ups, and then he left. And that was enough for me back then, getting some answers for what was going on, but it’s still hard. Even after Syren, I still don’t know our temporary teammates identities, so only you can go get them and bring them to the battle. Only you and Master Fu knew how to make our power-ups. I don’t know where Master Fu lives, so I can’t just go talk to him. I… if I think about it too much, it hurts.’
Arms wrapped around him.
‘I am so sorry, Chat Noir,’ Ladybug apologised. ‘I told him to stop leaving you in the dark, and when he said that he’d take care of it, I thought he was bringing you up to speed, not just giving you a one-off chat. I hate keeping secrets from you, especially things to do with the Miraculous. Never doubt that I trust you with my life and the Miraculouses - you are my partner and my best friend.’
Chat returned the hug. ‘Thank you, Ladybug. That means a lot.’
She pulled back and looked him in the eye. ‘I promise you, Chat Noir, that I’ll talk to Master Fu and make this right.’
-oOo-
’After that, she gave me your address so that I could reach you in case of important discussions that need to happen, and for emergencies,’ Adrien explained, watching as Master Fu frowned deeply.
‘She should not have done that,’ Master Fu said sternly.
‘Yes, she should have,’ Plagg retorted, staring the old man down. ‘If she hadn’t given him your address last night, I would’ve brought him here anyway, and he would’ve learned your address either way. But she trusted him, and so should you.’
‘What makes you think I don’t trust him?’ asked Fu. Plagg stared at him, unimpressed.
‘Did you not just hear everything my kid just told you?’ Plagg responded dryly. ‘Ladybug and Chat Noir’s relationship almost fell apart, Adrien was going to give up being Chat Noir altogether, leaving Hawk Moth a step closer to victory - just because you couldn’t bring yourself to trust Adrien as much as you do Ladybug.’
Fu seemed unmoved by Plagg’s words. ‘He can’t just give up - he has a responsibility-’
‘And what about your responsibility to him?’ Plagg countered. ‘Has he done something wrong?’
‘No.’
‘Has he proven himself less reliable or trustworthy than Ladybug?’ Plagg continued, cutting Fu off.
‘No, but-’
‘Has he ever showed any signs of wanting to betray Ladybug or wanting to join Hawk Moth?’
’No, he hasn’t-’
‘So then-’
‘Because there are extenuating circumstances!’ Fu yelled.
‘Like what?’ Plagg yelled back.
‘I can’t say, it’s too dangerous,’ said Fu tersely.
‘Can’t or won’t?’ Plagg shot back.
Fu didn’t answer, opting to silently fume with a red face.
‘Does Ladybug know what you aren’t telling us?’ Plagg prodded.
Fu pursed his lips, but averted his gaze in discomfort.
‘I’ll take that as a “no”, then,’ Plagg stated.
Adrien was finding this conversation frustrating. He knew Ladybug would talk to Fu sometime soon - she had only made her promise last night, after all - but he decided to try and talk to the Master himself when his fencing lesson cancelled last-minute and he had some free time on his hands. The last few instances he had met Master Fu, the old man seemed kind and understanding, so Adrien thought this discussion would go smoothly. How wrong he was.
There was no reason for Fu to not trust him - the man had said so himself! There was something Fu was hiding, and he clearly wasn’t willing to disclose whatever it was that was preventing him from trusting Chat Noir the way he does Ladybug. Adrien opened his mouth to speak-
Suddenly, the door slammed open, and Adrien jumped where he sat, turning to look at the intruder as Plagg zipped under the table.
‘Fu! You have some explaining to do!’
The door closed shut with a quiet click. Eyes met.
‘Marinette?’ he asked. He had never seen her like this before. Her body was tense like a lioness about to pounce on her prey. Her heavy breaths foretelling a storm of epic proportions. The fire in her eyes burned like a bushfire raging in the peak of a dry summer. She was livid. But not at him.
‘Adrien? What are you doing here?’ she asked evenly. No stutter. No stumble. No sweet blush or cute little smile.
‘Marinette, this is very rude of you-’
‘I’m here for a personal matter,’ Adrien said, cutting off Master Fu as he held Marinette’s gaze. ‘You?’
The blue fire blazed. ‘I’m also here on a personal matter,’ she began, turning the inferno towards the old man across the table, ‘and it’s a matter of urgency.’
Marinette looked like she’d eat Master Fu alive if Adrien left them alone. Adrien didn’t know if he should hold her back from ripping Master Fu apart for whatever he had done to rile her up so much, or if he should sit back and enjoy the carnage, but one thing was absolutely certain - he was staying put.
‘Why don’t you sit down and join us? Adrien offered brightly, ignoring the wild eyes Master Fu was sending him. Marinette, too furious to question Adrien’s motives, sat next to him.
Master Fu cleared his throat. ‘Uh, well, since these discussions are both personal matters, we should discuss them without mentioning other people’s names,’ he suggested.
Adrien agreed, and Marinette nodded stiffly beside him. Secret identities needed to remain a secret… then again, Adrien thought that if he was allowed to entrust anyone with his identity, Marinette would be at the top of the list.
‘Why don’t you go first, Marinette?’ Adrien suggested, earning him a curious look from her. ‘I’ve been here a little longer than you have, and you said your matter was urgent.’
Marinette nodded with a small “thanks”, before turning towards Master Fu.
‘I have this friend,’ she began, ‘and you know him well, Mr.Fu. And you have done him a great disservice.’
‘What happened?’ Adrien asked.
‘My friend and I were working on something together, and we had been for a good few months before I met Mr. Fu. Mr Fu decided to give me tutoring in the area me and my friend were working in,’ she explained, her voice unusually even for the fury that emanated from her. ‘I kept asking and asking Mr. Fu to tutor my friend as well, but he refused, citing “security reasons”. But my friend had noticed the sudden difference between my level of knowledge and his, and began to question it, and I could see him getting upset when I couldn’t answer him because I had made a promise to Mr. Fu here that I wouldn’t share this knowledge with anyone - that promise was a condition of my tutoring.’
Adrien could understand her friend’s perspective. Maybe he should meet this friend and teach him some breathing techniques to avoid being akumatised.
‘One day, I told Mr. Fu that it was time for my friend to be brought into the loop, to be trained the same way I was.’ Marinette was on a roll now. ‘He had agreed, and promised that he’d “take care of it”, which I thought meant bringing my friend up to speed, but no! I just found out yesterday that it was just a quick little one-off chat that did barely enough and my friend still feels on the outer! Things haven’t been fixed!’
Something was niggling in Adrien’s mind, whispering that this friend of Marinette’s had an eerily similar situation to himself, while the rest of his brain fought to ignore that very thought.
‘I can’t believe you, Mas- Mr. Fu!’ Marinette exclaimed as she jumped to her feet, body tense with anger, ready to fight. ’The way you’ve been treating him is totally and unnecessarily cold! Why? What’s he ever done to you? He is just as much of the team as I am, and instead of guiding him and teaching him, you’ve been treating him like a mushroom - keeping him in the dark and feeding him shi-’
‘Marinette!’ Master Fu gasped. Adrien almost pouted; he had never seen Marinette so mad to be on the verge of swearing, and he never knew that he wanted to hear her swear until now, and Fu just prevented him from hearing it. Yet another thing Adrien wasn’t able to experience, thanks to the old man. All the while, that niggling feeling grew stronger.
Instead of looking abashed at Master Fu’s scolding, Marinette looked even more infuriated than before, and a lot more hurt.
‘He almost left!’ she shouted, tears forming in her eyes. ‘He almost left his job, he almost left me because of you! Before you came, we trusted each other, we were partners, equals! But your blatant favouritism towards me and obvious disregard of him made him distrust me! He didn’t feel valued anymore, and almost left! This needs to change!’
Tears started to fall from her eyes. This was his Lady. She was crying for him, and he didn’t know what to do.
‘I can’t do this without him,’ Marinette declared. ‘He is the only reason I stayed after that first day, and if he goes, then I go.’
Adrien’s heart leapt into his throat. If he ever needed any proof she cared about him just as much as he did her, that was it. He stood up, placed his hands onto her shoulders, and gently turned her to face him.
‘You can’t go, m’lady,’ he told her gently, watching her eyes cloud with confusion before widening with realisation, ‘Paris needs you more than I do.’
‘I can only stay if you do, Kitty,’ she responded with equal softness, voice hitching with wet hiccups. ‘Paris needs both of us, because I can’t do this without you.’
He held his arms out and she all but jumped into them, hugging him just as desperately as he was hugging her. Adrien knew that he still needed to resolve the issues with Master Fu, and there was the whole matter of the unexpected identity reveal to deal with, but that was for Future Adrien. With Plagg resuming his staunch defence of Adrien to Master Fu (now joined by Tikki), and with Marinette in his arms, he knew they’d be okay.

MARINETTE: LADY LUCK ERA
MLB INHERITANCE AU PT. 4
- the origin:
A new Chat Noir, dubbed "Night Watch" by the masses due to almost exclusively seen at night and doing all manners of good deeds and selfless notions for the average Parisians, popped up almost immediately after Tuxedo's retirement.
When Bridgette is set to move onto campus for university, Marinette is hellbent on moving out of their shared room and having her own space to sew and create. She begs her parents to let her move into the attic, promising to clean out the attic herself.
After her parents agree, Marinette begins to sift through the attic belongings, and sees a pair of earrings she thinks seem vaguely familiar. She puts them on, and looks at them in the mirror, but screams when Tikki pops up behind her reflection telling her the earrings suit her.
Tikki explains the last situation to Mari, and the fae's concerns and desperation as she feels Null grow stronger somewhere in the city. Tikki tells her that she's been keeping an eye on Mari through the years, and recognizes her traits that would make her an excellent Ladybug.
Marinette shuts down Tikki's proposal for heroism, telling Tikki that if Bridgette couldn't do what needed to be done, there's no way Marinette could. Tikki refuses that mindset, though cannot convince the girl further before Sabine knocks on the attic hatch.
The faerie hides in the earrings that Marinette is still wearing, as Sabine pushes through to check in Marinette's progress on the room and offer her help to look through some of her old belongings that Marinette can move.
The two go through trunks of old family heirlooms and photo albums, before Sabine looks wistfully at an old album of her and her old friends.
In the picture is Sabine, Otis, Amelie, Emilie, Tom, and Gabriel. Marinette recognizes Gabriel Agreste, and is shocked that her parents never mentioned knowing him before.
Sabine tells Mari that Tom and Gabriel used to be best friends for a long time, which introduced Amelie and Emilie to their little university friend group. She recalls their days fondly and says their connections were irreplaceable, but admits that the group hadn't done the best efforts for keeping in contact. After Emilie's health had declined, most of the group drifted apart for various personal reasons despite them all trying their best to keep in touch. Amelie and Gabriel had been unreachable since Emilie's coma and Sabine tells her daughter she wishes she could have told them all together what they meant to her.
The two go down together for dinner, but Marinette can't stop thinking about her mom's stories and the Ladybug proposal. Though when she tries to talk to Tikki in the night and following days, the faerie does not respond.
Marinette goes to school at the beginning of a new term, nearly late because of her late night cleanups of the attic, and is met with Alya, Nino, and Chloe.
Chloe had stopped her petty bullying at a much younger age, and the four of them had been a strong group since they were kids.
Walking into the building, a crowd has amassed, but as the four try to shuffle their way past, Chloe squeals and runs to plucks the person grabbing all the attention from the crowd.
Pulling Adrien Agreste out, Chloe holds his arm tight and manages to scare the crowd away. Happily pulling him along, she introduces him to the other three as her best friend since diapers.
Marinette embarrassingly realizes that she's face to face with the model she's had a crush on since she was a kid, and fumbles a greeting to him and a sweaty handshake. He doesn't seem to mind (or notice) at all, and the four go to their class to pick their seats.
Chloe gives up her front row seat with Nino for Adrien, and instead takes the empty seat behind Alya and Mari, and next to Nathanael.
Midway through class, the first akuma alarm in 2 years goes off, and the school is a mess of kids trying to escape.
Adrien disappears in the rush, and the other four make it out of the school, but Alya gets caught by the akuma on the way out. Nino and Chloe immediately run after her, but Marinette is frozen in shock and loses them in the crowd.
Running into a deserted alleyway, Marinette tries to talk with Tikki again, panicked and begging the faerie to respond and tell her what to do so she can save her friends.
Tikki seems to have woken up from a slumber, but quickly recollects herself and guides Marinette what to do. She transforms and sees Chat Noir already on the scene, as he helps her clumsy landing into the battle.
They're both nervous, but Chat helps her get her breathing under control before they turn their attention back at the fight. Trying to get a scope on the situation, Chat suggests she ask her faerie how best to deal with an akuma. Tikki tells them what she told Bri about purifying, faerie spirits, and a bit more about her Ladybug abilities.
They go about clearing the civilians out of the way first, before dealing with the akumas directly. After clearing everyone away, they see their three friends in the hands of the enemy. Before Chat Noir can step in, Ladybug confronts the akuma. She's terrified, and she's shaking, but she resolves herself in saving her friends and the civilians that are helpless. Chat watches her in awe as she faces the akuma, before the two of them manage to end the fight.
After they purify the akuma, an eerie voice begins to speak to them through their miraculous. Sounding like two voices overlapping, the voice tells them that he's coming for their miraculous, and there's nothing they can do to delay the inevitable. That he'll keep sending akuma after akuma, to create his perfect world.
After the message ends, the two evade the press, as Chat Noir leads them to a nearby rooftop to talk in private. They discuss the voice they heard, and formally introduce themselves. Before they can talk more, their miraculous begin to beep, and Chat tells her what the beeping means for their faerie's recharge. He suggests they meet up later that night to discuss more things, but Ladybug hesitates. He tells her there's no pressure, but to think about it- also telling her that it's nice to finally have a quick thinking partner beside him with the akumas coming back.
They both leave the rooftop in different directions, and she hides again to drop her transformation. Tikki tells her she's going to stay in the earrings to rest until she can eat since Marinette wants to check in on her friends, but if Marinette could maybe snag her some cookies from the bakery when they get home.
Mari reunites with Nino, Alya, and Chloe, and the three are fangirling about the superheroes encounter. Marinette hugs them, glad that they're okay. Adrien rejoins them as well, saying he had to take shelter when the attack started. School is dismissed for the rest of the day, as well as school tomorrow, as the staff has to go over more codes and emergency situations with the return of akumas.
Marinette goes home, snagging a few cookies from the bakery, and on her way upstairs, wonders how best to tell Tikki that there's bound to be a better Ladybug out there. Though she stops in her tracks when she sees that her sister is home.
She hugs her sister, and the two catch up a bit. Bridgette mentions she caught the end of the battle from the day's akuma, and asks Marinette if she saw it since it was near her school.
Marinette lies and says she was hiding, and Bri describes it to her, but surprises Marinette by singing high praises for the new Ladybug. Bridgette bittersweetly admires how the new Ladybug was terrified but still managed to pull through and save the day. Saying she can see her push through and do the right things even when they're hard- something that Scarlet couldn't do. She sees hope in the new Ladybug, and tells Marinette that whoever it was, Tikki chose well.
Before Marinette could respond, Bridgette gets a text on her phone. Blushing at the notification, Bridgette gathers the last stuff she came to pick up. Hugging Mari goodbye, she's out the door with promises of seeing her on the weekend for dinner, leaving Marinette alone in the room to think about what she said.
After dinner, Marinette goes to her new room in the attic, and hesitantly brings Tikki out. Recharged from the cookies earlier, Tikki brings up the Chat's proposal from earlier to meet up. Her earlier thoughts of turning the Ladybug role down conflict with her sister's words, and she ultimately agrees to transform and meet her new partner. Though as she transforms and leaves through the upper balcony, she doesn't notice her dad, who came up to ask her about school, poking out from the attic hatch. He watches the balcony hatch a bit after she leaves before going into the kitchen.
She meets up with Night Watch, who admits to doubting a bit if she'd come.
"You came"
"That's what good partners do, right?"
The two discuss things like patrol schedules, and Chat catches her up on a lot of things he would do while transformed. He tells her he had contact with the previous holder and a mentor, and asked if she did as well, to which she sheepishly denied. Chat tells her not to worry, telling her that her fae will tell her a lot too, but that her black cat partner will always be there for her. She rolls her eyes at whatever puns and flirts he makes but offers him a grin at that, pushing her fist out for a fist bump. He returns it.
As she comes home, and drops her transformation, she finds the attic hatch open, and her dad humming in the kitchen below. Seeing her at the hatch, Tom smiles and motions for his daughter to join him in the otherwise empty kitchen.
As she sits down, he pulls. A fresh batch of cookies from the stovetop, telling her they just finished cooling. Marinette laughs and eats one, but freezes when her dad asks if Tikki would like some too. At her reaction, he gives a warm, but concerned smile, and tells her he knows it's the faerie's favorite.
Tikki comes out of the earrings, and faces Tom. She tries to explain why she hadn't left, but he stops her. Telling both Tikki and Marinette that he knows what responsibilities lie in waiting for Ladybug- and how their biggest downfall is them taking on too many things by themselves.
He knows he can't help in the ways he wants to as a father, but tells Marinette that she has him at home, a partner in the Black Cat, and someone he wants her to see the next day since she doesn't have school. He reassures her that they're never alone, and has a team by her side. Marinette and Tikki both wrap Tom in an embrace as all three eat the cookies.
The next day, Tom takes Marinette to her Uncle Fu's shop, confusing the girl. She's been there a million times, and voices her confusion to her father, who laughs it off and tells her to follow him inside.
There, they see Fu, who smiles knowingly and greets the family friends before closing up the shop. He calls Wayzz out, and tells the two to follow him to the back of the shop to discuss recent developments and mentions that he hears Marinette is in the market for a mentor.
Meanwhile, Adrien is happy he's made new friends, his ability to finally go to public school, and his amazing new hero partner.
Though back in his room, he voices to Plagg his concerns about his father: mostly about how distant he has become- as he barely speaks to Adrien anymore and makes Nathalie do any interacting with the boy. Noting that even when Gabriel does talk to him, his voice is cold and monotone; nothing like the father he knew before who- even at his lowest- would make sure to spend time with his son.
Adrien resolves himself to do his best for his father, hopeful that the Gabriel he knew will come back some day to them.

* something that I’ve only just started thinking about recently is how in-universe, nobody knew what the miraculous were or how they worked, even though people had been looking for them since at least the 1940’s, in WWII I’m thinking: Master Fu, after WWII, made a wish to erase the knowledge of the miraculous from everyone’s minds
Tumblr media Tumblr media
* that doesn’t mean they never existed, or that they were never used, it’s just that after the point in time where he made the wish, nobody was able to remember them
* but since he made the wish, there had to be a reaction to his action, so I think in exchange for “everyone will forget about the miraculous”, someone would have to learn about them again at some point, and that someone was Nathalie Sancoeur
Tumblr media
* look, I don’t exactly know how or when Nathalie would’ve learned about the miraculous, but before the events of the series she was a hunter of magical artifacts. She could’ve found something relating to the miraculous, and decided to try and find more info about them.
* where and when she would’ve done that, I don’t know, but that doesn’t rule out the idea (at least to me)
Tumblr media
* now according to the show bible, Tomoe was the one who introduced Nathalie to Gabriel and Emilie. Since the bible is outdated in certain areas (especially with Nathalie), this could also be outdated, but for the sake of this argument I’ll imagine that it isn’t
Tumblr media
* what I think could’ve happened is that Nathalie learned about the peacock miraculous, and she told Tomoe (how they’re connected, idk, but whatever) about this, and so in turn Tomoe told her about the Agrestes and that Nathalie should be the one to help them out
Tumblr media
* Gabriel, Emilie, and Nathalie would’ve met afterwards, and then the rest is history
Tumblr media
* maybe I’m just reaching in all this, I don’t know lmao, but it was fun to think about, so

What if Adrien is Fu's grandson?
-- Fu visited Marianne one more time, 25 years after WW2 was over, in 1970 (originally, he was scared to even come to England because he wasn't sure if she was still alive). Thankfully, she was so during that night they slept together out of love and desperation.
-- Unfortunately, Fu had to leave right away because there were still villains after the miracle box and he didn't want to compromise Marianne's safety even further. He hated to do this to her again but they had no choice. All their allies were killed by nazis for trying to protect the miraculous by his side and he wanted Marianne to live a long and happy life. Even if it's without him.
-- She found out she was pregnant a couple of months after his departure and she never told him that he was the father of her unborn child.
-- She had two beautiful twin girls. Both with green eyes, one with golden hair and one with ashy hair. She desperately wanted to tell Fu about them but she also didn't want to put any of them at risk.
-- However, her safety was compromised regardless. So a few weeks after she gave birth, she had no choice but to leave the twins at an orphanage and be on the run.
-- She escaped to Wales for a long while and mourned the life she could have had with Fu and their children.
-- The twins were adopted by a rich couple right away (said couple struggled to have children and the twins happened to have similar features to them so they could pass off as their own biological babies). They were then named Emilie and Amelie Graham de Vanily.
-- Thirty years later, after getting married to her childhood friend, Gabriel Agreste, Emilie was blessed with a son. Adrien Agreste.
-- He is half human and half sentibeing...
-- And Emilie died before she could have ever had the chance to meet her biological parents.

MASTER FU REDESIGN
It's not that I didn't like his red shirt I just...... hated his red shirt. I instead opted for something more traditional, considering he's still the Great Guardian. I think he should definitely look the part, you know? Besides, the red goes nicely with Ladybug's luck AND the top pattern of the Wonderbox.
Maybe red color was something of an indicator in The Order of the Guardians.. It could be pretty cool! I'll think about it :P
