and kudos to van helsing for NOT putting the blame on mrs westenra and instead saying "we can't tell her how close lucy is to death and so she did what she thought was best for her daughter but in doing so unknowingly endangered both her life and soul"

I think Mina fits in with the dry men of science more than Jonathan does, despite the fact that he's also a nerd and intelligent. She's on Van Helsing's side along with Seward every single time a plan needs to be formed. She'll even be more active than Seward during those instances. At those times Jonathan will either depart for a task or not participate and let his wife take charge. Jonathan more prominently is consistently full of emotions and is expressive of them without thinking about how he may look. He shares this trait most with Renflield. Several times he needs to be sat down and be talked to with logic by Van Helsing or Mina until his emotions settle, be it anger or despair. Even post-brain fever, when upset he collapses on sofas, groans a lot, falls on his knees, shows extreme physical changes.

And here we have the proper horror part of the novel again. This is something modern vampire adaptations don't really focus on.

The sheer horror that went through Van Helsing, his reluctance not out of being under a trance (though even that) but for the sheer act of doing such horrible things to someone or something that looks so human. Cause what he did was murder, even if not the murder of a human being.

Another thing you don't see modern 'heroes' do is express the guilt, the horror and the tears that Van Helsing shed over their death. He was glad to be able to free their souls but it still hurt him to do so. He still hated that he had killed some who may not have been alive but were still living.

I haven't spoken much of Mother Geneieve. The deer mother of Silky, a kind yet stern doe she was whom left a ever strong impact of the being of Silky. In the Van Helsing Au, she passed away from old age before Silky ever met the hunters and was buried by the Somes River. Her body became one with the water hence her aqua like ghost. She only speak to those whom come near the river. When they do (and if they are important or whom she considers her kin), she will pull the down below and they are transported to a weird sort of limbo state where they see her.

Freddie is an example here. Knowing to sneak out, he comes near the river. Geneieve pulls him in and at first he is shocked by her. Never seen a deer like this before. Of course Geneieve aint here to be all cuddly and cute, she come to give him quite the stern warning....

a sequel of the You Can't Sit With Us (gothic horror edition) comic i made months back. the doodles are VERY shitty but i love drawing little Freaks and Weirdos so.......

i dont understand people on the wwdits fandom hating on nandor / nandermo ship, yall act like as nandor was the only problematic bitch in the series. Like, they are all problematic???, that is what is great about the show??. Dont get me wrong i loooove to see sweet moments between the characters and of course sometimes i want to punch all of them in their faces for acting like asholes to each other (specially when nandor and nadja are mean to guillermo and collins robinson) but part of the escense of the show is that nandor, laszlo, nadja, guillermo and collins are ALL PROBLEMATIC, THEY ARE A PROBLEMATIC FAMILY, THEY ARE ALL MESSED UP PEOPLE. NONE of them can be actually called a "good person" (remember that guillermo killed both vampires and humans and never felt guilty about it, he even brought one of his childhood friends to the house so he could be eaten by vampires, he has stealed, has manipulated nandor and others to his own benefit, has considered killing nandor multiple times before anyone realized he was a vampire killer, and so on.

I didnt ship nandermo in the first seasons because the power dinamic between them was so inequitable, but after guillermo started being his killer self in front of the rest and gained self confidence the power dinamic between nandor and him totally changed. Nandor is a bitch with guillermo sometimes but Guillermo can be a bitch too and he is way smarter and more powerful than nandor and could easly overpower him (as he alredy did twice) .

If you want a show where the main characters are unproblematic and have all healthy and "normal" relationships this show is just not for you! it has never been since season 1!

This show is about messy crazy bitches who sometimes cant stand each other and have lots of problems but cant be whitout each other because they love each other (in their own problematic way). Even if i wish too that guillermo was treated better by EVERYBODY in this show (specially by nadja), i cant imagine a wwdits where they all arent at least a little toxic to each other. This is not a cute queer romantic story, this is a story about problematic toxic af, freaky queer bitches who love each other just the way they are even when they cant stand each other. Stop being so boring and expecting all queer media to be unproblematic af and all queer ships to portrait a perfect romantic ilusion between super sweet and caring characters who would never act selfishly or hurt each other.

Kills me when people(directors of mainstream adaptations of Dracula) say that Jonathan gets useless outside of the castle because it is manifestly not true! I think the reason people think this is bc Bram Stoker does fixate a little too hard on paperwork defeating Count Dracula but if you look at the plot as written Jonathan finds the location of literally every single box. He does ALL the legwork and bribing and detective work, the others just take the leads he finds and go with them. I suppose I can understand directors being like no I'm not including this this is uninteresting to watch but like! Like! If you look at what is on the page he is perhaps from start to finish the most useful character in the entire novel.
