Lady Celtigar.
- Lady of Dragonstone, wife of Daemion Targaryen.
- Targaryen Portriat Master List.
“The Celtigars’ castle is rumored to hold fabulous treasures that bear witness to their wealth…”
*
*
“… there are Myrish carpets, Volantene glass, gold and silver plates, jeweled cups, magnificent hawks, a trained sea eagle, an ancestor axe of Valyrian steel, chests of rubies, a horn said to summon krakens from under the sea, and many fine wines.”
*
*
Note: As I’ve said before with the previous Lady Celtigar post I imagine Lord Aerys and Lord Daemions wives to be Ladies of House Celtigar. I imagine House Celtigar was actually more powerful than House Targaryen before the conquest.

how do you think a poor house like Mormont got a Valyrian steel sword?
So the Mormont sword is interesting, because it was acquired five hundred years ago, which is pretty recent by Westerosi standards and only a hundred years before the Doom of Valyria.
So what was happening in Westeros around that time? Well, to me the most relevant date in question would seem to be the founding of Dragonstone about a hundred years prior as the westernmost outpost of the Valyrian Empire. This outpost most likely functioned primarily as a trading entrepot, and we know that the Valyrians liked to trade Valyrian steel for gold and silver.
While Valyrian steel was still ruinously expensive, it is noticeable that after Dragonstone is established, a whole bunch of Houses suddenly acquire Valyrian steel swords: the Mormonts get Longclaw 500 years ago, the Tarlys get Heartsbane 500 years ago, the Lannisters get Brightroar around 500 years ago, etc. My guess is that the arrival of Valyrian traders lowered the price of Valyrian steel to the point where more Houses could afford it.

can we talk about how virtually any character in the whole got universe can look at a normal-seeming sword and immediately know it's Valyrian steel? and the difference between regular and valyrian is never described so does everyone just have a magical ability to detect valyrian steel? like, yes, my valyrian steeldar just went off, i can tell this sword is DIFFERENT

“Valaena was half-Targaryen herself, through her mother…”
The Parents of Valaena Velaryon.
House Velaryon arms are depicted as a silver seahorse on a sea green background (field).

Note 1: The Targaryen and The Velaryon who we have no idea who they are except that they were married and their only known child is Valaena Velaryon. These two could sit on two places of the family tree. The unknown Targaryen could either be a sister to Maegor and Aerys or even an unknown child of Aerys. The Velaryon man is most likely Lord Daemon Velaryons brother. But overall that is completely unknown and all we can do is guess where they place in the family tree.

Note 2: I decided to go for medieval (early 1300s european wear) for the Velaryon man. I did this because House Velaryon is historically very much apart of Westeros society so they probably integrated into Westeros fashion a lot faster than House Targaryen and House Celtigar did. House Targaryen and House Celtigar are known to be quite isolated from Westeros until after the conquest, hence why I see them wearing old valyria grab for a longer amount of time despite it being out of fashion.

A Game of Thrones, Catelyn III
She spun back toward the window to scream for help, but the man moved faster than she would have believed.
One hand clamped down over her mouth and yanked back her head, the other brought the dagger up to her windpipe. The stench of him was overwhelming.
She reached up with both hands and grabbed the blade with all her strength, pulling it away from her throat.
She heard him cursing into her ear. Her fingers were slippery with blood, but she would not let go of the dagger.
The hand over her mouth clenched more tightly, shutting off her air. Catelyn twisted her head to the side and managed to get a piece of his flesh between her teeth. She bit down hard into his palm. The man grunted in pain.
She ground her teeth together and tore at him, and all of a sudden he let go. The taste of his blood filled her mouth.
She sucked in air and screamed, and he grabbed her hair and pulled her away from him, and she stumbled and went down, and then he was standing over her, breathing hard, shaking.
The dagger was still clutched tightly in his right hand, slick with blood.
“You weren’t s’posed to be here,” he repeated stupidly.
