idk how many of you remember this but a few years ago tumblr ran a universally panned ad campaign for (us american) pride month that went "the gayest place on the internet".

well someone planning that campaign dropped in to ask the queer automatticians for advice on that and universally me and the other trans people involved were like "don't do it. i am so serious. don't do it. people on tumblr won't understand that it wasn't automattic who instituted the porn ban, or they will, but they'll recognize that automattic hasn't done anything, hands tied or not, to reverse it. nobody will like this. it will be a disaster." and they thanked us for our thoughts and went ahead with it anyway and then had to do retrospectives about how badly it went and were like "we just didn't know" and [gestures] yeah [edit: i think the person who rbed saying it was queerest place on the internet was right, my brain is fried, sorry! and that's... even worse lmao]

Nearly 25 years after Nunavut became a territory, it has signed a final agreement with the government of Canada to have the final say over a long list of decisions that were, until now, usually made in Ottawa.  Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Premier P.J. Akeeagok and Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. president Aluki Kotierk signed the agreement at a ceremony in Iqaluit this afternoon.  It's the largest land transfer in Canada's history, Trudeau said — two million square kilometres of land and water. The 239-page document outlines how Canada will give control over Nunavut's land and resources to the government of Nunavut — a process known as devolution

I know Percy's desperately trying to escape the godly world but not only do I think the gods aren't going to leave percy alone once he's in New Rome, I also think Percy's in the situation now where he can't refuse at all because like, if he was in the mortal world at a mortal college he at least would be able to try and be like "sorry I can't do a quest right now I've already used up my three excused absences this semester try again in the spring :/" but in New Rome? They will be like "Percy! It is an honor to be hand-selected for a quest. And by the gods no less! Stars above, you should be grateful! more sci-fi/fantasy dynastic empires should feature the emperor or empress just cutting out the middle-parent and cloning themselves. I want scenarios where they make like five clones and then force their potential heirs to fight it out and see who the best (evilest? most willing to sit back and watch their siblings murder each other?) mini-me is. I want "I'm nothing like you" yelled at your clone-parent over treasonous regicidal family dinner with like, 12 identical imperial portraits hanging overhead. I want the death of the self in pursuit of immortality. I just think this could really take dynastic familial dysfunction to the next level.
