Been sick the last couple days, so naturally I used my downtime to catch up on binging some TV.
MANIFEST: Ohhhh man I thought it was going to go a different way but i'm actually happy about the ending. Great stuff.
THE FULL MONTY: Loved it. Not only did it tap into working class humour, it hit hard on a lot of shit we're facing. I had to fast forward a bit of the ending as it set off some of my long-buried trauma, but it was a bittersweet and lovely little show. I also saw a couple lil sneaky rumple hands here and there and chuckled.
LOKI: Finally watched it. Way better than I was expecting it to be. I put it off for so long as tumblr put me off and I just wasn't in the mood, but yeah... it was alright.
SECRET INVASION: Now this... I am loving....

To be honest, it seems so impossible to picture billford actually happening right now. I trust you! But it's hard to envision the path ahead.
I'm not gonna lie the reason it took me months & months to commit to taking the fic that route is because I didn't want to go "no yeah I'm doing this" until I was sure I did have a path, and it is hard to envision lmfao. It's a very twisty and very narrow path that they're only gonna just barely squeeze through.
Without giving any spoilers, as far as I see it, any reconciliation between Ford & Bill—platonic or romantic—requires three things:
a reason for Ford to stop fearing Bill
a reason for Ford to stop hating Bill
a reason for Ford to like Bill.
We don't need anything on Bill's side, he's all prepared to like Ford as soon as Ford likes him. All he has to do is, y'know, give Ford all of those reasons.
#3 is the easiest one! Ford already has reasons to like Bill: they're all of the reasons he used to like Bill. He's an alien with infinite knowledge. That's great. But Bill could give Ford a million reasons to like him and they won't do a bit of good as long as Ford hates him. If you stab someone in the gut and give them a flower, you stabbed them in the gut. If you stab someone in the gut and give them an entire field of flowers, you still stabbed them in the gut. It's actually more insulting to get flowers than it would've been to just get stabbed. Gotta do something about the stabbing.
#1 was also pretty easy to figure out. All it takes is trapping Bill in a scenario where he's forced to demonstrate he no longer wants to kill the Pines, in a way that makes it impossible to think that it could have been an act or a lie. Easy.
#2 is the only hard part. Ford has a lot of very good reasons to hate Bill forever. Why would he even want to stop hating Bill? And that's the key:
4. a reason for Ford to WANT to stop hating Bill
The hardest and MOST IMPORTANT part. A reason for Ford to go, fine. One last shot. If you want me to think anything is different, then show me—and no more chances to slip up. He can still hate Bill at this point! Bill still has to climb that mountain. But now Ford's simply standing at the top of the mountain glaring at Bill with his arms crossed, waiting to see if he can make it to the top, rather than using a long stick to shove Bill back down every time he gets close.
Let's talk about redemption arcs!
There's a thing I believe about redemption arcs and redemption in general, which is that saying "they shouldn't get a second chance unless they deserve it" is impossible. "Deserve it" means they're good now, "deserve it" means they've already done the work to improve themselves and make amends for what they did wrong. But in the real world, somebody needs to give you a second chance BEFORE you deserve it in order to have space to work on yourself and become worthy of it.
That doesn't mean Ford, of all people, owes Bill a second chance. He was never gonna be the first to offer Bill a hand. He couldn't be, he shouldn't be. And nobody owes Bill a second chance—but in order for it to be possible for Bill to have a redemption arc at all, SOMEBODY had to give him one anyway. The whole fic is the result of people extending a hand to Bill so that he can become worthy of the help he was offered. He wouldn't be alive if the Axolotl hadn't given him a second chance. He'd still be curled up in the corner of the attic day after day waiting to die if Mabel hadn't given him a second chance. Over and over he's gonna get chances he doesn't deserve, from people who have no reason to offer them, when he regrets nothing, when he's apologized for nothing—and that's what will save him.
SOMEBODY ELSE had to offer Bill an unconditional second chance first. But—once Ford has seen that Bill might have potential—he can, if he wants, offer Bill a limited, conditional second chance. I just have to get him to want to.
After that it's smooth sailing. Get the two of them as far as "okay we can attempt having a positive relationship again" and past that it really doesn't matter what kind of positive relationship it is, platonic, romantic, sexual, whatever. "Do you think they might wanna bone or not?" is a much less important and much less difficult question than "What would it take for Ford to stop despising the triangle who ruined his life?"
Personally, I want 'em to make out nasty style. But that's far and away the least important part of this whole arc, because it was important to me that that not be a motivating factor in their reconciliation. Like I've said, I'm deliberately playing on hard mode here, and "I'm kinda sorta motivated to forgive him because I'm attracted to him" is a cheat I'm not allowing. I'm too ace to tolerate that kind of plot unless it's in a story about the frustrating folly of desire. The attraction can only come after reconciliation; and it also won't prevent them from continuing to have the kind of ongoing issues you'd expect out of two guys with a long history of heartless betrayal and murder attempts.

Fish Can't Tell Fortune
SUMMARY: You show a mysterious fish to Azul. WORD COUNT: 400+
WARNINGS: I wrote this in like ten minutes, spoilers for the fortune telling fish if you haven't done this in chemistry??? Idk A/N: I literally had this experiment and I was immediately like "This would make a good fic idea!!" Lmfao. Technically I was going to write something for my event but that's going to (hopefully) happen later this weekend (also my birthday weekend woohoo) Uh yes anyways I did kind of submerge my fish in water yesterday and I don't know how that ended (because I've been too scared to see if it still works) so that is fun- Anyways I can already tell that I'm going to dislike Chemistry just because- yeah. I enjoy it but also memorizing stuff is going to be a pain (I wish Azul tutored me (I'm broke though))

Azul never believed in fortune-telling. It never told the truth; only hard work could show it.
But when he saw you being all excited with the small red and white packet in your hand… He couldn't say no.
He listened attentively as you talked about how this toy used to be popular with children in your world; apparently it was now a novelty. It was… Interesting. And this could show him his 'fortune'? Well, he had to try it out - even if he didn't believe in it.
He took the bag from your hands, looking at the outside. "Fortune Teller… Miracle Fish. Mhm." He nodded slightly, before pulling the small red fish out of the packet.
Doing as instructed, he placed the fish on the palm of his hand. It immediately started to move, and the two of you watched intensely.
"So… It turned over. What does this mean?"
You read the small text on the packet (that you had snatched from him after he took the fish out) before you stifled a snicker. You turned and showed him the words.
"False? What do you mean I'm false?" Azul looked irritated to almost a comical amount. "I am not- what does it even-"
You shrugged, just telling him that the fish said what it wanted to say.
Azul let out a soft huff, shaking his head. "I'm not believing this. What about you? What does it do when it's on your palm?"
You took the fish from his hand, holding it in the palm of your hand. It moved, albeit slower this time; it curled up entirely.
"…Passionate?" Azul read out loud, a soft frown on his face. "Well, I suppose I can see where that comes from…"
You laughed, telling him that the fish never lies.
"Whatever you say. Now, give me that. I want to figure out exactly what's going on with this."
And a few days later, he had actually figured it out.
It hadn't been hard for him; he thought it was either heat or moisture. As the fish didn't react to any type of heat-related thing, that was out. However, the water did make it move faster.
And after testing some more and remembering old bits of information, he deduced that it was some sort of chemical reaction that was going on that caused the fish to move in the way it did.
Even as you told him it was no fun if he figured it out, he shook his head.
"Now I know that science - not a miracle - powers this fish. And it was interesting to research as well. Thank you for showing me this, kantokusei-san."

in another episode of Burns talking about TGED without reading the novel and only focusing on the webtoon as source material
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Can we talk for a moment about Kim Suho and his Best Friend whose name I do not know (if it was mentioned before, pls lemme know)??
Now, I tend to focus a lot on the imagery of the narrative, like I mentioned before, since in the webtoon we do not have literal text to describe actual scenes, it has pushed to take its liberties on how it develops.
We have seen it on the mayor differences between N!Javier and W!Javier. (I was told.)
With that being said, my current theory in the matter is that Kim Suho is NOT a reliable narrator.
What do I mean with that?
SPOILERS,
(I will not post screenshots bc of spoilers)
In today's CH, we begin with a flashback of Kim Suho meeting w his rich Best Friend who he invites to the bath-house.
Now, Suho mentioned before on a previous flashback that his Best Friend invites him to eat out a lot just for the mere satisfaction of showing off his money. And while it's absolutely hilarious to think so, I do believe it wasn't the case.
In this new memory, Best Friend offers him the service for free, shaking Suho a lot, he questions him and the replies he gets are pretty simple, 'my mom owns the place', 'I'm helping her today', but all of that while he's making a very wicked smile.
This gave me the realization that all of this sequence is strictly within Suho's POV, which we can interpret the whole interaction was actually twisted to fit his narrative.
There's a high chance that Best Friend is doing all of these things out of real kindness and bc he does care for Suho.
But bc he refuses to believe ppl does things out of nowhere (like himself), he is convinced that he's being mocked.
For Suho, it has to be that way, he can only receive any kind of help as long as there's a 'catch', just the same way he gives help.
It also makes him upset to understand that his Best Friend knows his schedule well enough to show up at the proper time to ask him to hang out. Which in retrospect, is not that weird.
With time we all get to know when friends/family get off and on to work. It's not rocket science. But bc Suho is not making that same effort for his Best Friend, he assumes that that's the norm.
Why is he doing all of these things? Why does he know when he's free? How does he know he needs to relax?
Bc those are normal things to know of ppl one's close to.
But for Suho, he doesn't take that as relevant to give effort to. So much that he doesn't understand the simpler answers to those questions because he, himself, wouldn't answer them normally. They have to be negative.
Now, this made me believe that he's not being properly truthful with these memories, since he's convinced that all of these 'kind' actions were made w the idea of being mocked by.
After all, regardless of what was the memory, it's extremely normal that ppl will retell a story to fit their narrative.
In this case, that Best Friend just wanted to be entertained with Suho's struggles.
Now, this doesn't seems to happen when it comes to Javier, and the answer I came up for that might be a bit painful. Unconsciously, Suho probably still sees Javier as a fictional character and not a real person. So to give him effort doesn't seems wasteful since he's not 'real'
After all, this story falls into the same gender as Isekai, 'escapism'. So Suho wouldn't have a problem to blend and care for the new ppl around him bc they are not real. They are part of his escapism. Ofc I'm sure that is changing bc he's now seeing the family and home as his. It's just matter of time when he understands that he's actually building proper interpersonal relationships.
That's all I have for now, good night.
ps, if you don't agree, just block me and move on LMFAO.
Ninjago Tickle Headcanons!
A/N: I cannot hold back anymore the brainrot is too STRONG- I’m rewatching the entire series rn and I literally missed my boys so much and being able to scream about it with my friend has only made me even more obsessed LOL so here we are with some headcanons about my SONS!!! In my original watch of ninjago I only made it to the first episode of rebooted, and I’m currently on the third season so i’m almost to where I left off! I love these little dudes so much so pls no spoilers for later seasons but MAN I just needed to yell about them a tad hehehe
Lloyd
MY BABY BOY OH GOODNESS i love him and he’s so tickly it’s not even fair for him
he’s ticklish pretty much... everywhere. but he’s extra tickly on his tummy and ribs
the other ninja will tickle him a LOT especially in inconvenient situations because Lloyd is so ticklish he just crumples
they found out he was ticklish when he was still little and trying to reach something on a high shelf and kai held him up to help him and he shrieked
he got tickled to bits after that and i don’t think a single day passes by where he’s not tickled at least once
HE ALSO REALLY ENJOYS IT sorry not sorry but he does
he didn’t get a lot of affection growing up so whenever his bros tickle him he loves it and they all know it
when he first became an adult one of the first things they tested was making sure he was still ticklish LMFAO it was actually so funny because Kai was like “wait is Lloyd still ticklish??” and they immediately tested it
of course, he still was, because when you’re that ticklish there’s almost no way to grow out of it
he has almost no ler bones in his body poor boy
he can sometimes get Jay and Kai (if Kai lets him LOL) but he has absolutely no chance against Zane and Cole especially
Sometimes when they’re training they tickle Lloyd and claim that its to test his reflexes but really they just wanna hear his little squeaks
HES VERY SQUEAKY DID I MENTION THAT
he’s a little squeaky toy bro... poke him and he jumps and squeaks and then his giggles are really squeaky too
when he was younger they started tricking him into tickles like “Lloyd, can you get the laundry basket?” then immediately tickling his ribs so he ends up dropping it LOL
he still falls for it when he’s older. there is no helping this poor boy
Sensei Wu also tickles him sometimes, but he’s more subtle about it to the point where Lloyd can never tell if he’s doing it on purpose (spoiler alert: he always is)
Kai is nicer with his tickles but he can be a bit silly sometimes and will tickle him to bits
He tickles him sometimes without thinking about it because Lloyd is just so tickly and because Kai is just naturally very physical in how he shows his bros he cares about them I SOB
Jay is evil and will tease Lloyd like “I thought you were the destined Green Ninja!” and Lloyd is just in stitches by the end
Jay always gets wrecked by Kai or Cole afterwards tho
Zane is a methodical tickler but he doesn’t tickle Lloyd as often as the other ninja
He waits until it’s a good moment (he doesn’t catch him by surprise or tickle him while he’s doing something) and then just quickly tickles his ribs
Cole is absolutely evil with Lloyd because he’ll give him a big bear hug from behind and then tickle the snot out of him LMAO
Sometimes he’ll just hold Lloyd up while the other bros tickle him and he’s just a mess by the end
Lloyd sometimes tickles Kai and is probably the only one besides Zane who knows about the spot behind his knees hehe and he uses it to his advantage when they’re training
Lloyd also can get back at Jay because Jay is the only one who comes close to Lloyd in terms of ticklishness
also sorry i forgot to mention it when i was reading back over these but. wiggling ur fingers at him? he is a puddle. THERE IS SOME WONDERFUL FANART HERE OF EXACTLY WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT everyone say thank you for the wonderful food sleepy!!!!
basically i am a firm believer in lee Lloyd and I think he should be tickled to bits
Kai
please tell me i wasn’t the only one with a crush on kai.... please
OKAY UHH ANYWAY he’s also very tickly not nearly as much as Lloyd but MAN he can get got good if you know where to get him
He’s especially ticklish behind his knees, but his feet, hips, and sides are really ticklish too
Only Lloyd and Zane know about the spot behind his knees but he isn’t safe forever with that LMAO and if Cole and Jay find out he’s done for
He cackles bro and it’s so funny because he’s just being dramatic for the most part
Cole one time got his feet in an armlock and just obliterated him and Kai almost lost his voice because he was hollering so much PLS
Kai got his revenge later but he was so tired he literally could not move from that spot for a hot minute
Kai used to tickle Nya a lot when they were younger and before he joined the ninja, but he’s not really used to being tickled as much as he gets tickled now
(this is probably why he’s so dramatic lolol)
tickling is very common among the ninjas and they are often in tickle fights and whatnot which Kai was not expecting when he first decided to join
i like to think that him getting tickled to bits was what officially “initiated” him into the group
I think he’s probably the best gamer of the group, so the only way to actually beat him is to catch him off guard and tickle him LOL
Zane one time was sitting out of the video game everyone else was playing and he sat behind Kai and immediately went after his hips and Kai lost his mind lol
He lost that game miserably and then Cole and Jay and Lloyd insisted that the loser should get tickled and he’s like “But Zane was just tickling me! That’s not fair!”
He got tickled even more after that game lol
Lloyd will tickle Kai in tickle fights and when everyone else is ganging up on him because it’s one of the only times he has a chance lolol
Kai doesn’t mind when his bros tickle him as long as he can tickle back, but sometimes he just needs to take it
Lloyd one time managed to pin him during a sparring match and Kai was like “okay okay you win now get off” but Lloyd tickled him behind his knees until Kai was screeching lolol
Cole and Kai butt heads sometimes and used to settle things through arm wrestling before they decided that wasn’t fair at all considering how physically strong Cole was, but once when they were arm wrestling, Kai bribed Jay to tickle Cole so he could win
Cole ended up tickling both of them to bits poor dudes
Jay would get tickled by Kai a LOT when he first found out that Jay had a crush on Nya because hes like “bro you CANNOT get with my sister that’s bro code!!”
He doesn’t mind now because he knows Nya likes him too, but he still tickles Jay jokingly about it
Kai is naturally very warm, so when it’s colder out, the ninja will pile up on top of him in search of warmth
Cole joked and said that tickling him might make him even warmer and Kai couldn’t fight back as they decided to test that
Zane was like “He came up by 0.89 degrees!” and then they were like “Okay now whenever we’re cold we tickle Kai!”
He is doomed to be the ticklish human heater from now on
Zane
our favorite nindroid!!!!
he’s probably the least tickly out of the other ninja but that’s only because he has a little slider switch thingy where he can turn his ticklishness off and change how ticklish he is
it used to be turned off before he found out he was a robot, so when they found out he turned it on and set it on low
he hasn’t told the others how to make it any higher, but sometimes he sets it a little bit higher because he sees his bros laughing and hes like “that looks so fun”
(he’s left it at medium now and he thinks thats good enough but it might change in the future)
He’s very tickly under his arms and on his ribs!!
He’s very very giggly when you tickle him, but sometimes if you catch him by surprise or get a really good spot he’ll gasp and then get more giggly hes so cuteee
He’s very alert and knows when people creep up behind him so it’s really fun when one of the bros manages to catch him off guard
Sometimes Cole will scoop him up under his arms and hold him up so everyone else can gang up on him LOL all he can do then is kick a bit and laugh
Zane wasn’t tickled much before he met the other ninja, but he still enjoys it because he likes being closer to his bros which he feels like tickling does
since Zane is very methodical about everything and always calculating things in his head, he’s practically memorized every tickle spot between all the ninja and he definitely uses it to his advantage
He knows about Cole’s shoulders and Kai’s knees and then Jay and Lloyd are open books LMAO there is no hiding tickle spots on those two
He’s also kind of like an opposite Kai! Kai is the human heater, but Zane is the... well, AC Unit
They all pile on top of him when it’s really hot out and of course that makes it really easy to tickle him so they take advantage of that
There are also times where he gets stuck in his own ice (like his foot gets stuck or he accidentally freezes his arm to the wall LOL) and then his bros also take advantage of that bc it’s just a perfect opportunity
Cole tickles Zane most often, but thats because Cole is just an absolute tickle monster
Zane prefers to be tickling his bros rather than being tickled, mostly because he feels like he’s going to shortcircuit sometimes
He thinks tickling Jay is fun because Jay will just curl up and take it because he’s so tickly lolol
Zane is so freaking funny when he’s tickling his bros because. he doesn’t tease. but he will absolutely analyze them and point stuff out to embarrass them
“Why aren’t you trying to get away? Do you like this?” “You seem more ticklish here than on your belly, is that true?” “Why aren’t you fighting back? Too ticklish?”
He doesn’t even mean to point stuff out that’s just how he is but his bros are constantly embarrassed
He’s just a tickle menace basically!
Jay
i love this idiot so much ohmygod i wanted to squeeze him but if I squeezed him he would scream. he is too tickly
he is unfortunately ticklish everywhere! But he’s especially ticklish on his hips and his tummy!
The spot where his thighs and hips meet is a KILLER for him too, like if he gets got there he’s going to be hollering in like. seconds
Before Lloyd joined the gang, Jay was basically the tickle equivalent of a punching bag LMAOOO poor guy got tickled nonstop
He’s also a tickle menace tho! He can get his bros really good if he wants to
The only problem is that if someone starts to tickle him while he’s tickling them, he’s absolutely done for
He just curls up or crumples and then he’s free real estate for being tickled
One thing he’s mean about is sometimes he shocks people a little bit with itty bitty zaps and makes them shriek
They aren’t painful zaps they are just so tickly and they leave a lot of tingles there and the bros are mad that he’s able to do that because they can’t really use their stuff for any of that (except Lloyd but he’s too shy)
Speaking of, when Lloyd showed up, Jay was very quick to start tickling the snot out of him just because it was so easy to just. poke him
Jay is really mean with teases, but not in like a mean mean way! he is just silly and knows how to tease all his bros
He knows how to tease Cole and Kai especially well (comes back to bite him quite often! poor dude) and Lloyd you just need to wiggle your fingers at him and he’s already giggling LOL but Zane is a bit more difficult to tease
Jay has made it his mission to figure out exactly what makes Zane extra giggly because no one else has cracked that case
Jay is really easy to gang up on so he is tickled quite often
He doesn’t mind being tickled, but he prefers when he’s either tickling someone else or when he’s just watching from afar
If Nya tickles him (which she does occasionally) he absolutely malfunctions
Zane joked one time that he had a shortcircuit and asked if Jay was secretly a nindroid as well, which made Jay pout for the rest of the day LOL
Kai would tickle him a bunch when he first found out about Jay’s crush on Nya, and Jay has ever since declared that he would get Kai back for all those times
Lloyd one time heard Jay say that he still hadn’t got Kai back and Lloyd was like “well i know his secret spot” and Jay immediately tried to get it out of Lloyd, which ended with Lloyd getting tickled to bits
He didn’t spill the beans because Kai managed to save him (and himself!) but if he hadn’t shown up then Kai might’ve been a goner later on lolol
Now Jay is trying to figure it out himself (he might eventually! look out Kai!)
i’m still laughing about tickle punching bag. pls help me come up with a better name for that
Cole
Cole is my big bro and i love him so much he’s amazing
He’s not super ticklish, but he’s still got a few spots that have him reeling
he’s got really ticklish shoulders! Cannot take shoulder massages there it’s so cute bro but almost no one knows
He’s also ticklish on his ribs and his sides!
He’s seen as the tickle monster of the group, mostly because he’s strong but also because he isn’t as tickly
He’ll bear hug and then tickle anyone within a 10-foot radius, and sometimes he just holds someone up to be tickled by anyone else who happens to be in that 10-foot radius lolol
Cole is kind of evil because whenever he wrestles with one of his bros he tickles them even after he’s clearly won and makes them admit that he won (mostly bc Kai, Jay, and Lloyd can get a bit salty about losing wrestling matches lol)
Zane has learned to immediately declare that Cole won to avoid being tickled, but then Cole decided to take it a step further with Zane. so now he makes Zane say that Cole is the coolest ninja which Zane doesn’t always say lol
I think that even though Cole is very strong he’s also very soft (SOBS) and loves to dote on his bros
this 100% involves tickling them
he’s not as good with words as he is with physical things, so if one of his bros is feeling down or upset, he’ll sit with them and talk a bit then try to cheer them up with a few tickles
he also will tickle his bros or give them noogies or just overall be super sweet when he’s really excited for them!!
he is just!!! the best!!
He doesn’t really like being tickled himself, but he doesn’t mind as much when it’s his bros
when Lloyd was younger, Cole would literally act like a tickle monster and chase him around before tickling him (he still does this tbh!)
sometimes he likes to fake mad to trick someone into tickles which works very often he is so silly
like he’ll lose at a video game and cross his arms and pout until Kai comes over and is like “sorry bro, I - DO NOT TICKLE ME NOO” its so freaking funny!!!
Cole thinks its hilarious how easy it is (especially with Kai and Lloyd) and he thinks its fun when he just drags them down and tickles the snot out of them and they’re like BETRAYAL!
so yeah. tickle monster Cole real!
I WANT TO WRITE MORE FOR THESE GUYS.... EXPECT FICS IN THE FUTURE.... also please if you also like ninjago talk to me about it I am in NEED of fellow ninjago likers
Mediaposting 2024, #6: Dai Gyakuten Saiban 2/The Great Ace Attorney Resolve
Tumblr media
Completed: April 21st, 2024 (/i still have to watch the DLC episodes that didn't get released with the official loc, I guess but I'm not playing it any more so ?? lol)
Time spent: 49.5 hours (will be like 50.5 after the DLC stuff)
Rating: 9/10 (more objectively. but a very biased 9.5 in my heart.)
ohhhhh my god alright where do i even start with this. i guess i also have to talk about dgs1 a little bit in this review/mini completion log but I will TRY and keep it to just 2. [editor's note: somehow succeeded with this! lfg]
first, to get the non-spoiler parts of this out of the way:
please for the love of god play this fucking game if you've played the original AA trilogy but not the DGS duology. i can not stress this enough. i would not recommend playing them as your FIRST aa games because a) they will set your bar way too high (and too low simultaneously bc wow dgs1 still has whack as hell pacing) b) there are a few details, especially in this particular game, that will evoke no reaction in you if you haven't played at least the main three games but WILL cause you to start gnawing on drywood if you have Knowledge Of The Future
the whole dgs duology - and specifically as a duology, bc 2 makes no sense without 1 but 1 by itself is not on this level - is absolutely in my top 3/4 AA games now. i admittedly have not replayed the original trilogy in quite a while, buuuuuut T&T/AAI2/DGS1+2 are my new top 3. not necessarily in that order, give me a bit to think about it lol.
im going to be thinking about this game for the rest of my life probably. i can see why my best friend wanted me to play it for uh. seven years. because yeah it really is that good.
i want to cosplay four different designs from it. i have not wanted to cosplay anything new (to me) since neo twewy came out three years ago. take that as you will.
music still slaps. obviously. my favorite new song is absolutely partners (IYKYK) but agh. the new theme(s) that characters get are all so fucking good. clenches fist. the leitmotifs
definitely becomes relevant in retrospect in a few places where capcom obviously cut the hell out of the budget but they saved it for where it matters so i dont care. im also uh. very used to low budget VNs so frankly even 3D models are better than I'm used to LMFAO. i also you know. didn't realize that they did that until after the fact. so. they hid it well
if you havent played this go and play it (after playing the original AA trilogy). please for the love of god im on my hands and knees.
everything below the cut (i.e. below this point) has blatant unfiltered spoilers. you have been warned.
okay so welcome you've presumably played all of dgs2 if you're reading this. i have THOUGHTS. a lot of these will come off as critical/negative but i need to strongly emphasize that these are the only reasons that this game is not a 10/10 for me and otherwise i'm in love with it. it is fucking CLOSE. i am not talking a lot about the things i really love because that is.............................a lot of the game for me and we'd be here all day. the critiques are much more limited in number. but. you know.
dgs2 absolutely has much, Much better pacing than dgs1 does overall. it does not take 3 cases to get past a bunch of tutorial cases. this is a good thing. however..............the first two cases are still very slow. i won't call them pure filler, because a) reminding us about yuujin was a very good idea, b) they contribute to the Themes of the game. and im glad hosonaga was there again and (of all of the side characters we could have had) seeing souseki was good. i like them. but they really didn't need to be there to fulfill the themes of the game. case 2 in particular feels like a filler case, which I do not love given how tight the rest of the plot feels. if anything i feel like they should have done an interim flashback case without susato, as much as I adore susato, because as-is it's canon that ryuu had 3 cases in the span of a week. which feels INSANE
speaking of better pacing: im so glad dgs2 remembered that AA games can take investigation breaks between courtroom shit because running through ALL of the trial after ALL of the investigation in 1-5 was. let's say. taxing. the 'finding their footing' aspect of the first game
i do kind of wish we got One more case with the masked apprentice where susato wasn't there at all for the entire case. if only because then the delay between ryuu Thinking It and susato Knowing it would be even more painful. but i do really appreciate that they don't try to make it a woah big reveal as much as a painful "i know who you are but you don't." really adds a certain je nai se quois or however the fuck you spell that. idr. its 1 am when im typing this
also hey asougi can we fucking unpack how susato (the girl you were raised with to some extent, probably not like your sister but your weird younger cousin) called your name and you didn't remember who you were but you DID remember when you saw a wax reconstruction of your dead dad. can we fucking talk about that for a minute. can w
speaking of asougi. my god. they did such a good job with him. i think i wouldn't have cared nearly as much about him if all we had was the dgs1 stuff but his extreme motivation for the truth almost turning him into a violent attack dog is. aaaaaaaaaah. god. and the parallels between him and his father's followers (read: the von karmas) that one has from playing the mainline AA games. truly brainworm material
speaking of this: i can absolutely tell they did NOT think about writing the professor stuff with this game until they added in the masked apprentice - before he got turned into asougi - even though the reaper was obviously something that was planned. i do not care personally about this, because game dev is weird as hell and it REALLY works with asougi and van zieks' character arcs. in the same way that i don't think [SPOILER CHARACTER] from vlr would have been as good without the knowledge of 999, i think if barok had been foiled against a new character it wouldn't have worked as well. all that said. it sure is obvious they didn't know what they were doing. this makes me even more impressed that that they got it to work at all
the same is true of everything with the hound of the baskervilles but im really glad that they took it in the direction that they did.
also man it is so obvious that they probably wanted to have this be a proper trilogy like the original trilogy but then budget happened. because 2-3 through 2-5 all slap but they feel so fucking weird next to 2-1 and 2-2. like i dont feel that theres anything missing per se but a little more time for character growth would have been nice. hell even adding in an extra case (and/or editing 2-2....)
the only writing thing, aside from. 2-2 being like that. and the other weird pacing issues..that extensively is off to me is the whole assassin trading plot. i do think it is Very stupid and that they clearly wrote themselves into a corner with 1-5 on how to deal with it because they just...proceed to not deal with it until 2-4 and 2-5. however. even with that said. i actually kind of like that it is so stupid. because stronghart definitely feels SO obsessed with his version of justice that he wouldn't think through the potential downsides of having two free-roaming assassins running around and maybe coming to get his ass. obvious flaw that would not occur to him because of his insane ass behavior
its still dumb. but it's ace attorney dumb. so i can excuse it a little bit
stronghart being a damon gant expy was funny but goddamnit was it predictable. making him be so obssessed with justice that he talks to ryuu about it for 4 hours was funny as hell though and absolutely adds to him as a character. still dont like him that much Personally but hes definitely a character
his breakdown was peak. by the way. top 3 breakdowns in the series
jigoku being like that kills me. also. the way he just let genshin
g. genshin impact (sorry)
i dont care that sherlock's bullshit was a deus ex machina bc honestly.....electricity was real at that point. its fine
also. holy shit i love ryuunosuke in this game even more. 'i'm not doing this for you, kazuma. i'm doing it for the truth.' BANGER!!!!!!!!!!!! his growth across these two games is really good but especially in this one he shines so brightly
however..........this game made the glaring lack of ryuu's parents even more obvious. its not like i Need it or anything but considering how he very literally refers to yuujin/susato/sherlock/iris as his family in 2-4.....where are your parents!!!! what was your childhood like!!!!!! I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS THAT I WISH COULD BE ANSWERED!!!!!!!!!
and asougi. i could write an essay on asougi alone i think. but i adore how both he and ryuu are like 'you've changed' at each other and neither of them are wrong but then by the end they're like 'wow you're the same as before.' theyre so fucking gay. anyway
and sherlock (WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU WHY DO YOU LIE FOR FUN LIKE THIS????????)
and yuujin (partners ~ game is afoot starts playing and i start crying). obsessed with how they only had to write the dynamic for a single case and you can believe all of it because they can just go. lol. ACD canon. anyway
and susato
and, most surprisingly of all for me.....fucking barok van zieks. i would not call myself a Fan of him in the way i am a Fan of asougi and ryuu, but i am obsessed with him. he did so many things wrong but realizes he genuinely fucked up and wants to atone for it. he gets genuinely upset in prison when he can't join the red-headed league. he's a professional alcoholic. he has bats in his office (???). what is wrong with him. (i know the answer is 'literally everything that could be wrong with a person.' but still
i love every single character in this game (or i hate them but because they were written to be hated)??? how did they manage this again. dgs1 helps so much here because the character growth.
argh. the character parallels with everyone realizing their parent / mentor figure was fucked up and/or hiding shit from them in some way. thinking emoji rotating in a circle goes here
wow that magically became way less critical as i was writing it. i thought it was going to be a lot stronger of a critique. its still weird pacing stuff basically that bothers me but i have very minor complaints that im forgetting aside from this
UHHHHHHHHHHHHHH YEAH HI GUYS IM BRAIN ROTTING NOW FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this has had almost the same brain impact on me (as evidenced by the 1 million words about it) as raging loop i think and thats never a good sign since i still think about raging loop at least once a week despite the fact that i played it 3 goddamn years ago
is piper doing one of these for a non-taylor album?! crazy, i know (i wanna space out the taylor 🤌). hope you like this one :)
beomgyu as traitor
"you talked to her when we were together, you gave me your word, but that didn't matter"
i think beomgyu is a kind soul, however, i would not be surprised if he was dating someone else two weeks after you broke up (sorry😭)
his intention wasn't to hurt you, but that doesn't matter because the damage is done! that boy is a traitor!
i can also see him being the one betrayed though :( the whole situation sucks oh my goodness this song is so good
taehyun as driver's license
"can't drive past the places we used to go to, 'cause i still fucking love you"
before i start: this song has so much SOUL & it often gets overlooked now because of how popular it got but it got popular for a reason! it's so good!
anyways...taehyun's a passionate guy. i can see him teaching you how to drive & making memories with you & songs about you only for the two of you to break up 🤧
associating something as common as driving with someone is a dangerous game. don't do it guys. especially if that someone is kang taehyun bc you will never be able to drive again without him popping into your head.
i can also see him singing this?? not thematically but just vocally?? do it taehyun, do it.
yeonjun as good 4 u
"you will never have to hurt the way you know that i do"
seeing yeonjun thriving after you broke up would fucking STING
i said "he wouldn't mean it!" for beomgyu & traitor but like...if you & yeonjun had a messy breakup, he might mean it lmfaooo
&& the thing is, i think yeonjun is considerate, but not enough to put his life on hold for an ex's feelings (whoops)
he would care though. he still wants you to be happy, just not happier than him ;)
hueningkai as jealousy, jealousy
"all i see is what i should be: happier, prettier, jealousy, jealousy"
hueningkai gives me such 🥀💔🙄 energy HEHE i think what i'm trying to say is that he reminds me of teenage angst (txt's concept also definitely adds to that lmfao)
the decision is mostly based on those vibes alone, i don't think he's a jealous guy (plz say you get it 😞🥀)
hueningkai jealousy, jealousy cover when??
soobin as hope ur ok
"don't know if i'll see you again someday, but if you're out there, i hope that you're okay"
spoiler alert i gave this song to jungwon too because i had to repeat a track (only 11 on sour RIP)
soobin seems really thoughtful, so i can picture him being the one thinking about you long after you knew each other
but what i think is more likely is the idea of others thinking of him. he gives of such a warm & approachable energy that i can imagine you'd be touched by even if after simply crossing paths a couple times or sharing a class together
&& those interactions would be enough to make you think about them & him a lot 🥰
what are your thoughts on loop and siffrin’s hangout in the tree? it always seemed excessively cruel imo, just to prove that sif dying wasn’t the only way to loop. i feel like there were other ways, so i guess i can’t understand completely understand why they would do it.
had loop not pointed out the party dying or had the party managed to beat the king w/o sif, do you think sif would have still looped? Or at the very least managed to make it to the next day?
Anon. are you my loop. afheiohfe LMFAO I'm just. amused by the question because yeah tbh I don't really like the Loop hangout either. I get critical under the cut, so this is only getting a spoilers tag.
I think Siffrin was going to loop then. They probably would have realized what the flash was, or even just realized that the time of day means either the party's made it to the King or things have already ended badly for them, and now they're down a fighter. Siffrin does try to cling to hope at times so I can see him trying to persuade himself that Mirabelle would know the shield, she'd know to shield even if he didn't warn her right??? so maybe they didn't instantly die! but again, they're down a fighter. Even if they win the fight, surely they'd hate him for abandoning them in the final hour. I think he'd give himself a panic attack out of worry and guilt and shame and loop. Loop just hurried it up, probably because they were already hating themself (which, this sure makes it rich for them to try to point out to Siffrin later in act 5 that he's being an ass for saying mean things to the party LOL).
If you want my thoughts. This isn't in the ISAT tag because the hangout is one of the low points of the game for me. It was the "oh, we're just doing shock value now" bit of my first playthrough. I didn't think it made sense then just because how does the party get to the King anyway (even if they can still beat/avoid all the sadnesses without Siffrin and avoid the rock trap/find all the keys because they're like. being more cautious with them gone, they only have a 1/6 chance of correctly choosing the right path on both floors 2 & 3 unless Loop is actively guiding them. Which is an idea I've seen people uncomfortable with, but Loop is purposefully setting them up to die anyway????), and how does Siffrin not realize sooner "hey wait this is going too long what's going to happen to my friends" and panic over that sooner, and nothing in the rest of the game really changed my thoughts on that. Considering Isabeau is right in Loop's potential sight YEAH I FEEL LIKE THEY COULD HAVE COME UP WITH DIFFERENT WAYS OF PROVING IT.
Also iiirc, in my first playthrough I'd already done the Bonnie sidequest of them freaking out at Siffrin and making them loop by this time. I get that the Bonnie sidequest is optional but like. That sure doesn't help with making this hangout feel like cheap shock value.
I think. What I would have liked better. Is if maybe Loop had been trying to do something else and they accidentally established this. Example:
Loop tells Siffrin from the very start they can tell their friends about this and brings the matter up again at act 3 start. Even though it didn't free them from the loops it DID make that one loop better for them when their friends knew something was wrong (they didn't die horribly, for one), so I think they're thinking if Stardust lets everyone in on the full truth, and sooner, maybe they can help somehow!!! Maybe Odile can solve it!!!! 'Why are us two idiots trying to solve this alone!!!' Loop's thinking, and Loop just really, really wants to get out of the loops. So like. imagine a ISAT sus run being a little more similar to a SASASA sus run and Loop specifically baiting them to do that, maybe by suggesting that since they always loop when talking to the Head Housemaiden the loop ends at a certain TIME, this is TIME craft stardust, hurry it up and maybe you'll see something useful besides the roof hm???
What Loop is hoping for: Stardust gets the nice little bit of his family comforting him and getting them to open up a little, they get to hurt themself watching it through them, Stardust realizes 'hey I should talk to my friends' and actually starts telling them about the time loop at the start so they can all work through the information together, they just needed more brain cells on the problem so THEY FIGURE OUT THE GD TIME LOOPS AND LOOP GETS TO BE FREE.
What actually happens: *looks at how the sus run goes in ISAT* also since this is already altering what a sus run requires and how it turns out you could also have Mirabelle on edge and unintentionally taking it out on Siffrin, or Isabeau being horrified if Siffrin finally confesses about the time loops under pressure from Odile and Siffrin assumes Isabeau's disgusted about him hiding this (and not realizing like. Isabeau is actually horrified that his friend's been dying? and trying to handle that alone??? SIF), basically like just make it accidentally turn into a train wreck of a scene for a takeaway of "huh. Siffrin loops back from being upset, too." And then Siffrin is further convinced opening up = always bad and just gets more and more set in I AM NOT BLINDING TELLING THEM.
have you ever talked about the 'spoiler' in fiction and your thoughts about it? i remember you wrote something in connection to nabokov's 'you can only reread a novel' but I fear i may be mistaken (if so, please ignore. have a great day!)
I know the post you mean but I can't find it :( Tumblr's search function stays winning, I guess. To do a brief rundown on my position on 'spoilers' and specifically their relationship to critical work:
I don't have an especially strong position on like, avoiding vs not avoiding spoilers and how conscientious we should be about it in the sorts of environments where avoidance is possible. I try to tag for spoilers when I think it's appropriate; I'm personally not that bothered by spoilers, but like, I'm not mad at people who are. Whilst I think that knowing the 'twists' in a narrative ahead of time can be a fun way of noticing how they're set up (I love to google the plots of things I'm reading/watching so I can pay more attention to narrative construction and less to actually following the plot lmfao), I don't think you can just dismiss out of pocket the value of the emotional reaction that first meeting with a 'twist' can bring + how a reliance on that response can sometimes carry a narrative in ways that aren't necessarily weak or floundering. Some genres rely more on a lack of 'spoilers' than others; a narrative which relies heavily on hermeneutic codes, such as the murder mystery narrative, locates success in a particular balance of concealing and revealing information to the end of audience satisfaction that 'spoilers' can tamper with, sometimes unfairly. That said, when I'm writing critical essays on an external platform (ie. like, writing a Substack essay rather than doing a longform post on here) where a reader's access to it is wholly at their own discretion, I'm not going to be playing the 'writing about this work without giving away a spoiler' game, and I think doing so (even in reviews…..tbh……) is critically lazy; or, more charitably, at least inefficient.
What I mean to express is my frustration with how this excoriation of the "spoiler" (and specifically the placing of an onus on the audience to not "spoil" a work for others) places severe limitations on the scope and capability of the pop critical sphere. A lot of pieces on popular culture will try to posit a critical reading of a work without delving into "spoiler" territory; as such, they'll severely limit the terrain they can actually work on. (A Substack essay I wrote on Severance a while back responded to a Severance piece that suffered from this issue; the piece was bad for lots of reasons lol but one of them was that it couldn't actually delve into its topic with any depth or nuance because the writer couldn't write about any major plot beats not established in the premise or like, the first episode.)
Like, a text isn’t a linear body where any point that you might choose to talk about is solely accountable to the narrative events that have come before it and bears no relation to those that will come after; a text is more like a set of moving parts which all work in relation to one another to construct a cohesive whole. The very process of constructing a narrative relies on 1. the existence of an audience who only hold knowledge of the events that have happened so far up to and including whatever point they’re at in the text, and 2. the notion of all parts of the narrative exerting a force on all other parts of the narrative, of the ‘early’ sections of a narrative being, in a sense, ‘aware’ of their later sections; of the later events shaping the earlier just as much as the earlier shape the later. Obviously it’s possible and valuable to talk in-depth about an unfinished text; cf. for example, ongoing book series, TV series, similar such serialisations where the critic does not have a closed, completed narrative in front of them; but a) often those serialised works will be broken down into smaller units with internal narrative cohesion (one series of a TV show, one book in a series) wherein the criticism emerges from balancing out the tension between negotiating that internal cohesion and speculating on where the open-ended questions posed by the unit might lead, and b) this is fundamentally a different process to just … pointing to the vague opening ‘themes’ of a piece and failing to elaborate in any way because to do so would be ‘spoilers.’
The issue I’m articulating is mostly one wherein this particular form of pop criticism begins to perform the function of advertising before it engages its readership enough to start an actual process of interrogation and evaluation around the work in question. The attempt to talk about something whilst only making reference to the bare bones of its plot + avoiding the major narrative 'twists' severely constricts what you can talk about; it's just not good criticism, and I think this overfocus on never 'spoiling' something for others rather than expecting people to develop some discretion about what secondary material they read creates this impetus to essentially sell something to your audience rather than just … talk about it as a holistic piece. It does a disservice to the work in question and it does a disservice to your own critical faculties, lol?
I don't know how much this matters in the grand scheme of things, when critical practice is becoming a little more dispersed; like, I'm thinking of a phenomenon specific to The Thinkpiece hosted by The (Relatively) Prestigious Platform, but criticism is happening on like, Substack and Goodreads and Tumblr and everywhere else, such that it's easily possible to seek out this actually penetrative analysis should you want to. I am mostly just like, having an old man yells at cloud moment about it.
Also to be clear I'm not like positing a Radical New Position on critical practice here or claiming that other forms of critical practice (such as like, a lit paper) are free of their own problematic aspects; it's really just explaining a personal irritation lmao
ohh i have SUCH a controversial jennifer jareau opinion. and this is probably gonna be more like an essay. i wish i could say i was sorry.
everyone always says theyre anti jj slander, which is fine ofc, but just weird bc i NEVER see anyone slandering her. in my 3 years in the fandom, ive seen it happen maybe 5 times total, which sucks because she deserves so. much. more. hate.
(spoilers for *that* jeid plotline, as well as some other things)
in season 7, spencer tells her that she has mean girl vibes and she replies "i was a nice girl, especially to guys like you" which ALWAYS pissed me off because she literally just confirmed what he said? and everyone acts like it was a funny joke. she said that shit with her whole chest and meant it, and it wouldnt be *that* big of a deal if it was the only time. but shes consistently mean to him throughout the show, ignoring him, walking away, etc. spencer isnt even the only one shes like this to. and she just has a sense of superiority, idk how to describe it. just by the way she talks and interacts with those around her, you can tell. (while we're on that note, she also ignores her privileged a LOT. maybe not all the time, but theres been multiple times where she acts like she went through hell to get where she is. other than her sister passing, she had it completely easy. in terms of resources, opportunities, etc., she was basically born with a golden spoon in her mouth.)
in s14 when she confesses to spencer that shes always been in love with him, it just makes my blood boil. obviously he had been over her a long time (imo), but that was something she should've kept to herself bc it just brought alllll those feelings back to the surface. not to mention that hes the godfather of her children, and shes married, and will probably (definitely) doesnt know how she feels. thats literally emotional cheating on her part, even though reid didnt reciprocate it, it was still wrong of her to be that close to him without will knowing how she really felt.
there are other things i dont like abt her too, but those are the main things and im trying to keep this as short as possible. but i literally cant stand her, shes by far my least favorite character, and everyone acts like shes an angel sent from heaven, when really shes just a privileged bitch.
i like JJ a lot (i want her to be my mom </3) but i do agree with several of your points - she's definitely not the worst character, each and every character has a list of flaws that we could make, so this by no means makes her the worst, but it does make me angry <3
i just rewatched that 'mean girl' episode!! she doesn't even hesitate before saying 'guys like you', which, you're totally right, means he was right, and she was definitely a mean girl in high school. or even if she didn't say any of it out loud, she was still silently judging 'guys like him' and in high school you can always tells who's silently judging you. they're teenagers. they're not silent about it. the nasty looks they give you?? oh man. but i do think that the blame for ignoring spencer needs to be placed on all of the team members, because they do it all the time too, it's not just her. she has some pretty bad moments with him, but it's definitely something they all do and she shouldn't take the full blame
lmao don't talk about jeid. the writers actually deserve the death penalty for that, god it was so nasty and weird. i know that it was something she confessed in the heat of the moment, like she wasn't sure she was gonna make it out alive and didn't wanna die without saying it but ??? WHY WOULD YOU PUT IT ON HIM TO DIE THREE SECONDS AFTER FINDING OUT ??? like great it's off your chest but now he's gonna spend the (very short) rest of his life thinking about it?? AND THEN THEY DIDN'T EVEN DIE LMFAO SO HE WAS JUST STUCK WITH THAT !! and yeah!! will!! what about will!! or her kids!! it was so... writers i'm watching you...
one scene of hers that really pissed me off was in reid's kidnapping two-parter in s2 (the hankel incident) where she was almost attacked by those rabid (?) dogs and she shot them and she's obviously shaken up and she tries finding reid and realizes what happened and she feels so much guilt for splitting up with him - which was not her fault, she didn't know and should not be held responsible for what happened to him - that she started trying to make other people mad at her?? she cornered derek who was grieving and stressed at the loss of his best friend and they're both sleep deprived and she says something like 'admit it, you hate me, you think it's my fault' AND I???? GIRL. he is being so nice to you?? he was literally like oh honey if you need time off i know you're really shaken up and we can take care of this and and and AND SHE WAS LIKE oH yeah suRe just admit it i'm the worSt everybody hATEs mE- I WAS... this is not about you. go get therapy for the dog attack that you just almost suffered?? do not stand around a crime scene and pester the victim's best friend and delay the investigation because you're feeling guilty. go talk to someone about it. take a few days off. again, i totally get that she was shaken up and hopped up on adrenaline, but everyone told her to go get some rest and she was like no i think i will make myself the problem instead <3
all of that being said i still love her </3 i was not kidding when i say that i wish she was my mom holy shit i would have loved to grow up as her kid but she definitely has her flaws just like the rest of the BAU, and logical, critical breakdowns of a characters flaws aren't slandering, they're analysis, so i think everybody needs to stop shitting on people who criticize or analyze their faves lmao
send me your unpopular fandom opinions
Okay, so if I was in charge of deciding how to change things for RE remakes, by the time they got to 6, this is what I'd do if I was allowed MAJOR changes
(spoilers for both RE6 and Code Veronica... and I guess Darkside Chronicles by extension)
also warning, this is obscenely long. It's the hyperfixation talking and it compels me to spew my nonsense even if there is no audience willing to listen, I just like to talk lmao
Step #1) lay the groundwork in a Code Veronica remake beforehand to make things a little more ambiguous if Steve could live or not.
See, in Darkside Chronicles, I think it is interesting that when Steve says to Claire that that they both know he's "not gonna make it," he immediately follows up by saying that the virus is already in him. That makes it sound like THAT is what he is referring to rather than the impalement that happened moments before lol, so I'd work with that. Say T-Veronica gives some kind of enhanced healing, and take the fact that Steve reverted back to looking human as an actual plot point rather than just the way it was probably intended ("power of love" kind of thing so he could talk to Claire one more time), like he could coexist with the T-Veronica virus.
Keep the whole Wesker taking him thing since there needs to be a way to get Steve off the Antarctica base before it self-destructed, along with Wesker's taunting of Claire about it
Step #2) RE6 gets totally changed because I said so teehee. Actually, the Chris/Piers campaign can stay pretty much the same, I legit like that one a lot and I love Piers with all my heart and it has that really good ending.
Leon/Helena gets totally changed so that it is Leon/Sherry instead so Sherry gets to be partnered with her fellow government agent + Raccoon City survivor. Also because Helena sucks lol, and I don't really think the Deborah subplot with her is all that necessary (and it only takes up like two chapters anyway and IMO it doesn't even land emotionally because you know Helena for all of an hour or two at this point and most of that was her whining to go to the cathedral). You can show that Simmons is a piece of shit in plenty of ways without needing Helena and Deborah, and Ada's campaign would remain pretty much the same so that does the heavy lifting in regard to Simmons.
Since Sherry is with Leon, I uh... admittedly don't know to do with Jake. I like Jake as a character even though I think the "Wesker's son" thing is kinda dumb, but like... ??? I'd rather the third campaign be a totally new one, and it's - you guys will never guess lmfao - Claire/Steve. Steve could be connected to Simmons somehow, related to his experiments post-Wesker death idk, and here's how I would justify bringing him back:
You know how much time is between Code Veronica and RE6? It was about 15 years IIRC. And guess how much time the T-Veronica virus in lore takes to stabilize? 15 years. Uh huh, that's where I'm going with this. Steve could've been in some kind of Alexia Ashford-esque stasis after Wesker used him to get his hands on the virus, and bam, it wouldn't be really that bad of an ass pull, right?
This would also be a convenient way to keep Claire more directly involved in the mainline games, and I think 99.999999% of RE fans would rather see Claire than Helena. And there would be opportunities for her to meet up with her brother and Leon and Sherry in the story this way, too.
Actually, maybe even just kinda transplant some of Jake's role to Steve, antibodies and all that, but for different reasons. I think that could work.
Is this just my long, roundabout reason to explain why I think you could justify Steve surviving Code Veronica? Yeaaaaaah it kind of is. But I really do think RE6 would be improved this way. Or it would at least be tailored to my specific wants and taste.
...Soooo yeah. I am completely normal and sane about this :) Normal and healthy levels of attachment to Steve and Claire :))))
Ok, so there's a lotta characters to love, you've probably already heard of your Handler who calls you a Good Hound, The One Friend You Make, Sinewave GF and God's Most Dedicated Hater. They're all great characters who get a lot of screentime but I want to make the case for someone who only gets a couple lines (spoilers ahead for tagging purposes)
"Chatty" Stick is the right-hand man to the Director of one of the factions you meet in the game, Carla. Thing is, he's an AI she built for "systems admin" (see: someone to talk to)
Thing is, she built him without the capability to backup to storage. He's mortal, in a way. I think she finds humor in always telling Chatty to lighten up and learn how to laugh
There's neat parallels between Chatty & the player character, 621. The whole "i'm a constructed being for the purpose of carrying out the will of my 'maker' who wants me to learn what living life means" thing
But all that's not why i'm obsessed with him. After missions where you do something for Carla, he'll leave voice messages for you. He doesn't say much but he thanks you for helping Carla *specifically because* he can tell that her spirits are lifted.
There's something i love so much about a mortal AI who pays quiet but very focused attention to the emotions & wellbeing of his boss/creator, and breaking his usual pattern of silence to thank a former stranger for improving her mood
There's a couple other moments i think about a lot regarding Chatty but i'll keep them secret
Here's my pitch for whether or not you'll like getting into the characters of AC6:
The lore runs ankle-deep compared to something like Elden Ring BUT Fromsoft does a very good job of packing characterization into the characters' voiced lines and the designs/names of their ACs. Plus, nearly every named character gets a couple paragraphs explaining a bit about who they are, what they're like, and the role they play in the conflict on Rubicon. It's very fertile ground for casual headcanon-fire
I cannot stress to you enough how little I know about the game so far LOL I basically know that it’s mechs and that’s it lmfao… anyway ahh Chatty seems like a super sweet character with a lot of depth and I love when games give characters with so few lines that extra bit of personality!! I think I would super enjoy this type of game with a fun cast of interesting characters; I do love really intricate and esoteric lore but I’ve always felt that the lore really only interests me to the extent that it affects the characters I love… in other words, character comes first!
Minoru Tsujimoto Season I part I
(spoiler)
the whole plot of Tsujimoto is finally winning against Shunichiro Tachibana. The way he confessed to the MC was so sentimental; he “retired” out of writing storyboards when he realized Tachibana would always be in first place. He has this whole evil scheme in which he is going to “help” the MC get Tachibana to fall in love with her.
How does he even know she got a crush on Tachibana? Same thing happened with Araki, she said his name during their whole one night stand.
Tumblr media
“Are you going to captivate Shunichiro Tachibana with a technique that has zero sex appeal?”
LMFAO??? (finally someone who can keep up with her airhead)
Tumblr media
“When you told me about how much you loved my [MICON] CM, you looked so cute.”
This season starts with the MICON commercial in which Tsujimoto is the team leader; Toma and Natsume are the only two side characters. idk if Jun’s team even exist.
The best part was when Tachibana and the MC were talking without her being a blushing mess and he is like “I might have to take you to the library with me since you know it so well :)”
and Tsujimoto said the same thing, “you found this in the library? What a fucking nerd.”
Tsujimoto tries to mess with the MC by making some sexual harassment but the MC doesn’t take it in a negative way. She kinda enjoys it. Like submissive type likes it.
Also the MC is smart, smart here. When she first went to Tsujimoto’s office her first thought was “this office is a replica of Tachibana’s. Why is he so obsessed? Like he got a crush.”
Anyways. My favorite parts.
Tumblr media
“What is this situation?!”
Tumblr media
“Your clothes are very cute today.”
Tumblr media
“I am not a dog!”
Tumblr media
“It feels like you are my dog.”
The start having this weird borderline teacher/student relationship in which he gives the MC advise about how to approach Tachibana, but it’s just him slowing admitting he is in love with the MC.
Happy Witcher eve! Since this is a blogging website, I’m gonna put up a long Blog Post™ I wrote a really long time ago about adaptation just to get my thoughts out there before new material comes out-- book spoilers abound but I don’t actually explain them.
I will always credit The Magicians for changing the way I think about what ‘good’ adaptation is, which is ironic, I know, but the fact that it stumbles so spectacularly in places is part of what did it for me, so ultimately thanks for the mess, I guess! I owe a lot of that to the fact I watched that show before reading the books, which obviously changes your perspective.
But that isn’t the case with The Witcher, and with all this endless talk of show deviations I’m like...there’s some Witcher stuff I honestly do not want to see adapted accurately lmao. I am tentatively curious to see what they do with the Rats & Mistle etc, mostly because I fully just....don’t want to see that story as written on screen but also have absolutely no idea what they could do to change it. I would say Time of Contempt and Baptism of Fire are my favorite books in the series with Tower of the Swallow close behind, so I don’t dislike the Rats storyline overall--in fact, I think it’s thematically very good in the grand scheme of things--but when I first read it, Time of Contempt ending Like That after being my favorite book yet by far definitely put a damper on my excitement to start the next one, and while I don’t hate the story as it is (and do really like the nuance with which the group & Ciri’s place within it is fleshed out in Tower of the Swallow), there is truly no part of me that wants to see people adapt that page by page in uhhh 2023 onwards. Which is complex, too, because let’s say they fix the Mistle/Ciri relationship, give it a consensual start, make it less dysfunctional and low-key abusive: then can they be accused romanticizing the original source material? I mean, they’ll certainly be accused of shamefully deviating, but again, I really don’t mind that. But I don’t think I would prefer a version of them that’s healthy per-se, because the dysfunctionality is part of the point. Like, the Rats are interesting because they’re a bunch of kids who have been absolutely mistreated by society, totally uncared for, and they let their anger at the world overtake them so completely that their only vocation is violence-- they’ve been so deprived of a kind world that, despite their closeness, they barely even know how to properly care for each other, let alone other people. And they're still children! Angry, murderous, un-guided children! For Ciri they represent a kind of ‘cycle of violence’ style trap, which she eventually is forcefully shunted out of. The ‘love’ that she does find with them is fueled by hatred and conflict. But also, it’s like. How do you navigate that without being a) a little too close homophobic tropes for comfort and b) just like. fully unfun to watch at some parts???
That’s honestly how I feel about 85 percent of the Ciri stuff in Tower of the Swallow, which again, is a book I LOVE, and that stuff makes up probably at least half of it. But it’s also absolutely fucking miserable lmfao!!! I simply do not want or need to see it all on TV as written!!! I would appreciate a new take!!! It's miserable and I love it and I don't need it replicated. All three are true. Ultimately, it will be what it is, and I may enjoy it, or I may not.
But anyways-- all of that aside, demands for accuracy always fall flat for me because the books are so specifically literary anyways, with their frame stories, and in universe documents, and storytelling via witness testimony and gossip, letters with old census-style misspelled names, intermittent slices of Dandelion’s memoirs, etc etc etc--lest we forget the random chapter near the end of Baptism of Fire where the whole thing suddenly becomes a story being told to children squabbling over which characters they want to hear about next! This is one of my absolute favorite things about the series, and it’s something which with no uncertainty cannot be even slightly replicated in the show lol!!! So why shouldn’t they figure out what works for them in a different medium? Especially when it means there are many significant characters that we only see in slivers here and there in the books because of the amount of much third-party information being used to convey events. In a TV environment, I think the time they’re giving to flesh characters like the sorceresses is, for the most part, phenomenally well used, and I’ve really enjoyed seeing their takes on them. Cahir is another one I love, and he has definitely been taken in some different directions (although again his presence is so scarce for the first several books that they have that freedom) but he also has Things About Him in the books that I’m glad they are not adhering to thus far!
I certainly have my own disappointments with how changes turn out sometimes, which I’ve talked about a little--I speculated after watching season 2 that part of the reason for the changes that they made (which weren’t my favorite by the end of the season, but which were still enjoyable enough television) were because they felt locked into the action focused monster-of-the-week formula of the first season. That formula was a demand of adapting the short stories, but one which also created certain audience expectations for viewers coming in blind, so a hard turn into adapting a novel with very little actual plot was a risk they weren’t willing to take. (This is something that I later had uhhhh 100 percent confirmed watching an interview with the showrunner where she said this almost exactly lmao!!). I do still think it’s odd that they fully omitted some of the plottiest stuff with Philippa near the end in favor of their invented conflicts (conflicts which ALSO changed almost beyond recognition my favorite Yen & Ciri stuff from Blood of Elves but I digress), but that is the story they told so there really isn’t any point in could-have-beens. It’s way more useful for me to look at the show they are making and decide if it’s still fun or entertaining or interesting or ‘good’ or whatever on its own.
My point is really that a 1:1 adaptation really isn’t possible across media for this series, but even if it were, there really just isn’t a need for that, right? To capture the spirit of a story even with differences is still to honor it, and when the source material relies so much on being a book is there really anything wrong with an adaptation taking a different path through the same woods? Like, their differences don’t actually affect one another. The show being its own thing doesn’t ‘ruin’ the books. Change is not disrespect; it’s just change.
(except for when CDPR just like...forgot that Regis doesn't drink alcohol in the games; that WAS disrespect bc he is literally a character about addiction. but he WOULD be a connoisseur regardless so it is FORGIVEN)
yall know what time it is. ITS BREAKING THE ASKBOX TIME SJJSKALALALKAKSKWLWMNSNDDJKDK
honestly i expect nothing short of a masterpiece the moment i saw the notification. YOU! DO! NOT! DISAPPOINT! EVER! MISS CALY!!!
before getting into the crazier bits of this chapter, i wanna acknowledge how much you’ve grown as a writer during this series 🥹 recently i started re-reading some of the older moc chapters, and not to say that your writing wasn’t great before in any way, but the way you write now is so much more refined and beautiful, and i guess some of that is also attributed to how intense the story line and characters have developed. seriously, i’m so grateful to be able to read something and feel just how much effort and love the author has poured into in. now i can go on and on about praising your talent but i digress for the sake of discussing more… pressing issues that goes on here :)
*SPOILER ALERT FROM THIS PART*
now that jisung, hyunwoo and even hyunjin (sadly) has reached their demise, it finally dawns on me that this really is an end of an era. we spent like the past 1 or 2 maybe even 3 acts going through a gazillion emotional roller coaster rides all caused by jisung, but now is it weird that i’m kinda sad that he’s gone? it’s a perfect ending since jisung will probably never get his redemption even if he lives, but idk, i think it’s kinda depressing how love makes you do crazy shit :/ hyunwoo, on the other hand, BYE YOU ASS LMFAO WELL DESERVED. the only thing that dude has is the fucking audacity until the very last minute.
the action scene was beyond immaculate just as the emotional ones and there’s no doubt about that. im writing this with metaphorical tear streaks down my face and a broken heart after reading the whole chapter. you’ve got a way with words that can make me feel like i’m living and breathing in this fictional world. also, can we talk about this:
“Give me what’s mine first”
“Let her go immediately, you dog, or I’ll put a bullet in your head too.”
WELL GOD DAMN SIR. i’m gonna be fr and say i was SO certain we’re finally gonna get the infamous, long-awaited scene that must not be named between captain and ghost, but that’s on for me for not taking the slow burn warning more seriously lol. BUT there is still hope, i mean our mc would not be our mc if she can resist temptations and mind her own business yk.
"All these pit stops, huh? You sure she's the one trying to save you here, Captain? Because it looks an awful lot like that's what you're trying to do to her instead."
"Nightingale"
“I'm going, I'm going!”
and THIS IS ADORABLE OMG?!/?? i swear this whole part and the next part here is a prophecy that they’re gonna get it.
Yet, what you see before you is a trap, one carefully set by a vulnerable yet volatile man who could easily turn the situation into one that is advantageous to him permanently and you briefly. You imagine he has been in this position before — one where he can take as he pleases without thinking of the consequences of his actions — and where you stand, in a vulnerable spot yourself, you feel that tug to be near someone on equal footing. Wonder persists in your mind as you question where that is how Yunho initially fell into bed with him some time ago, or even further back to the first time Seonghwa was with him.
my girl has got some resolve and dignity alright, but we’ll see how long that lasts hahasksjak. we still probably got around 100 more chapters lol but just so you know, you’re gonna have to expect more than a broken askbox when that happens. everyone here will go so insane we might accidentally report you for emotional damage /hj. this is more than enough rambling but PLEASE I CAN NOT WAIT FOR MORE YOU’RE A LITERAL GODSEND THANK YOU LOVE YOU <3 - 🌊
OMGOMG okay i’ve been trying to answer this ask for like 2-3 weeks now but tumblr kept making it disappear from my inbox i was legit losing my mind?? but god bless today... today it worked... so finally i can respond...
thank you for waiting for me so sorry tumblr was a bitch and didn't let me respond sooner </3 i was legit so sad it kept disappearing bc i wanted to answer SO BAD LSKDFJFLK thank you thank you first off in this past few days i'e received so much lvoe and compliments on my writing, and i've been told many lovely things and i know you sent this ask a while back but man it still means so much to me i'm still so grateful the words hold just as much meaning to me i really truly appreciate them and you!!!
now onto the spoiley bits... you're spot on! this is the end of an arc in its own regard where we've been in this storyline for such a long while by now that it's a bit like wow! that's over! i've been loving seeing the mixed bag of reactions about jisung, truly, the overwhelming majority are upset over his death even if he was a villain in many regards and that is super fascinating to me and frankly that was my goal i was trying to achieve! switching the perspectives of jisung vs hyunwoo, i wanted to play with that concept and i couldn't be happier with the outcome!
hongjoong and mc have such a fun dynamic and push-and-pull to play with too i adore it and i adore seeing everyone react to that as well, especially with recent chapters ofc.. but she's a strong one! she's resisting well! she's still got her resolve and her dignity both buttttt we'll see how much longer that lasts :3
NSFW Headcanon — Seb Jacobs
Tumblr media
(gif not mine: ©gaybuckybarnes)
WARNINGS: This is pure filth, I have no shame <3 oral (f receiving), riding, vøyeurism, terrible attempt at dirty talk lmfao
A/N: (spoilers) this is mostly based on seb and pippa's sex scene because oh my god that was FUCKING hot, it's been a whole month and i'm still not over it. Do not interact if you are under 18 + feedback is always appreciated <3
Tumblr media
Needless to say, Seb takes huge pride in being able to make you moan and squirm by using only his mouth.
He knows exactly what to do to have you balling your fists into his hair, what pace gives you the most pleasure, how much time it takes for you to come.
It's like he knows your own body better than you.
He much prefers giving over receiving; although he won't refuse a blowjob when you offer him one, watching you moan and clutch onto his hair as he coaxes orgasm after orgasm out of you has to be his favorite sight in the world.
He always has one or both hands palming your breasts as he eats you out. Your own hand usually comes to rest over his, keeping it there or leading it around your throat.
You'll stroke his hair back while bucking your hips up toward him, telling him exactly what you want and praising him for making you feel so good.
"That's it. Fuck, that's it, right there." you pant. "Gonna make me fucking squirt all over your tongue if you keep doing that."
Knowing you're being watched only adds to the sheer euphoria you're feeling as he eats your pussy in front of those huge windows.
Sometimes, he'll grab his camera and ask you to touch yourself as you're sprawled out on the couch, then he'll snap a few pictures before going back to sitting between your spread legs.
Of course, those shots stay between the two of you.
He loves telling you how wet you are and how sweet you taste while looking up at you from between your legs, mostly because he loves the effect it has on you. His words make you shudder and you struggle to maintain eye contact with him, eventually tossing your head back, feeling the heat creep up your neck.
He's constantly praising you, telling you what a good girl you’re being for coming, encouraging you and telling you that you can do it again, and again. Your hands tug on his hair harshly as the overstimulation gets too much, not really knowing if you want to push his head away or keep him right here and let him push you towards yet another orgasm.
He has you completely at his mercy as you lose control and forget everything around you, the only thing you can focus on being the way his tongue feels.
Safe to say he could eat you out for hours and hours without getting tired of it.
"Come on, pretty girl. I know you've got one more for me."
Your throat ends up sore from all the screaming and moaning, and you're pretty sure the whole building knows his name by the time he's done with you.
Once he's satisfied with how many times you've come he'll crawl back up to you and kiss you fiercely, something he always does after going down on you.
He peppers kisses along your neck as you try to catch your breath, but it doesn't take long until you're pushing him down on the couch to straddle him.
He'll hold your hips with a smirk as you sink down on his cock, watching as your face contorts in pleasure. Something about how you roll your hips and set the pace when you ride him turns him on so fucking much.
Again, his hands are either roaming your body — moving from your lower back up your shoulder blades before moving to squeeze your breasts, or holding your hips to guide your movements. Your own hand settles around his throat as you ride him, your eyes only leaving his when the pleasure gets too much and your head falls back.
"That's it, just like that. Keep your eyes on me baby. Look at me."
His fingers reach between your bodies to rub your clit, adding some stimulation as he feels your walls begin to clench around him.
From then on, it only take a couple seconds until you're coming, your eyes rolling back into your head as Seb takes over and thrusts his hips up, his hands coming to grip your hips as he guides you through it all while chasing his own orgasm, eventually filling you up after a few more thrusts.
Your foreheads are pressed together as you come down from your highs, his thumbs gently stroking the bruises he left on your hips from gripping them so tightly.
