Jealous At Training Camp

Kuroo sat with Kenma and Bokuto at a table somewhere in the middle where the Nekoma captain had a good view of the barbecue. You, their trusty manager, had taken over the task of grilling the meats and much to his dismay, it gave the onslaught of boys ample opportunity to talk to you, joke around or pretend to be helpful. It was the same at every single training camp. Your full figure and bright smile drew the boys to you like overly hormonal moths to an unsuspecting, adorable flame. Kuroo scowled when he saw you laugh as you handed Yaku a plate heavily laden with steaks.

"Now, what does she see in him?", he asked the others, both making it a point not to answer, "Is it because he is shorter than me?"

"Yeah, that'll be it.", Kenma said, not taking his eyes off the console in his hand.

"Looks like your plan backfired.”, Bokuto patted his friend’s back in deep manly sympathy, “Maybe she thinks you actually just want to be friends."

"Well, that would suck.", Kuroo’s shoulders deflated a little but he straightened himself again when you looked over and he gave a small wave.

"Not gonna lie, it’s getting pretty pathetic.”, the youngest of the trio frowned, finally looking up, “And I’m saying this because I don’t want to be your decoy anymore. Confess to her and leave me out of this. No more “Kenma wanted to ask which movies you like” or “Kenma was wondering if you’re feeling better after your cold”. Seriously, at this point she might think I’m into her.”

“Yeah, and then you really don’t have a chance.”, Bokuto winked at Kuroo between massive mouthfuls of meat.

"Oh, and you know what else sucks? Listening to you whine about how you can't catch a break with a girl who is obviously into you. Make. Your. Move. Or suffer in silence." And with that Kenma went back to his game. Kuroo looked at Bokuto, jaw dropped at his setter’s outburst. As much as the suffering in silence option enticed him, Kenma was right. With an enthusiastic nod from the Fukurodani captain for courage, Kuroo swallowed, stood up and walked over to you.

i think falin would enjoy it the most out of everyone w so many little treats to try. marcille ends up blowing thru her budget twice over bc falin will see those little pastries in fun shapes and turn on the puppy eyes. they both get a stomach ache from eating too much every time and never learn their lesson

senshi doesnt go, hes appalled at the prices and the questionable food quality at some of the stalls, and he cant put up his own stall bc he doesnt have the right paperwork. the crowds are too much to deal with for him anyways. hes probably friends with a few of the vendors though

its wayyy too expensive and crowded for chilchuck, i think him and laios both get completely overwhelmed by the people and noise so if they do go theyre both sticking to the far seating areas the entire time. falin shares her bounty w them but laios is the only one who tries everything she brings back

kabru collects a whole lot of unexpected free samples and then sits along the riverside bar and eavesdrops. also i think he would like the nut stall based on absolutely nothing but pure vibes

even criticism doesn't have to be negative. criticism can be "here is what was done well and effectively communicated the message of the story in x media". it can be constructive, like "i think the story's themes could be better conveyed through x rather than y, the way it was done in the actual plot". it's not just "thing bad" either

The racism in TMNT is a massive problem, not just looking at Splinter (and if I get started on the fandom we would be here for a while). There’s a side character in Rise, Hypno-Potamus, who is a whole mess of stereotypes about Romani people (his human design especially is a nightmare and as someone who is mixed Romani they really could’ve done better. They also could’ve done worse but I digress.) But yeah, just felt the need to point that out since no one else has and seeing you speak on the racism in TMNT reminded me of it. Hope you have a wonderful evening.

NO GENUINELY WITH HYPNO I THINK ABOUT THAT ALL TIME. it's something that always turns me off from his character because they had No Reason to base him off of Romani stereotypes. They could have just made him a funky magician and it would have changed nothing, but they just Had To Do something racist. What was the point??

And it just loops back around to all this other racist shit that tmnt can get away with, just because it's tmnt. Like on a meta level, WHERE ARE THE JAPANESE ARTISTS. Where are the Japanese show runners and voice actors, why is there so little connection to Japanese culture when Ninja is IN THE DAMN NAME. It feels like there's NOTHING being done to try and move away from the orientalist, westernization of their Japanese heritage. Fuck, MUTANT MAYHEM WAS ENTIRELY ABOUT THAT. The only reason they had any attachment to Asia was through western pop culture and movies.

Something that just, god it makes my blood fucking boil, is how the only tmnt media that tried to remedy this, from the beginning, was ROTTMNT. (And there are still! So many racism issues! Ghost Bear's entire character (WTF), Hypno's design. So much other shit.) The show which is largely hailed as the worst iteration. And I am so terrified for what that means for the way Japanese culture is treated in the future of tmnt.
