well i normally do an obligatory werewolf au for every fandom i have but what happens in the postcanon for farcille honestly perfectly scratched that itch anyway... though my favourite modern au is the brisbane meshi one by officialspec

actually, not a lot!! maybe it's just the sheer volume of people the in dunmeshi fandom, but i've gotten comments on nearly every detail that i put in and wasn't super expecting people to pick up on (laios accidentally comphet'ing himself about marcille, coffee making falin sleepy, etc.) If I had to say, the only thing I am hoping stood out but just hasn't been worth mentioning so far is marcille's initial tirade at the start of chapter 3. I put in the section where she kind of stops and reins herself in, actually apologizes to laios for being grumpy, just to show that she's capable of owning up to her own ridiculous behaviour (and taking the initiative to do so). It was part of the plan to sort of lay down the foundation that yes, marcille has grown and is capable of change, she's just handling this all really badly because a lot is being thrown at her all at once. she'll be fine if she gets the space/time to process it properly.

THIS is real i 100% see him as moving to brisbane from melbourne. an idea ive been toying with for kabru is him originally being from real world nepal, and utaya being destroyed by tourism/reputation rather than monsters? everest is kind of like a dungeon if u think about it

For Brisbane meshi, would monsters/dungeons still exist? If not I would make the case that Laios is obsessed with megafauna/dinosaurs because the queensland museum is really cool. He's always talking about going out to Winton to volunteer on a dig ect.

I HAVE THOUGHT ABT THIS its kind of complicated bc im leaning towards no magic but also. izutsumi. so im still on the fence (and probably thinking too hard abt it for a modern au lol)

paleontology nerd laios is a huge brained take, id been imagining him somewhere in the conservationist side of things but i need to consider this now..........MOST importantly though one of my big notes for laios is that his biology interest is a failed academic pursuit he obsesses over in his free time rather than something hes qualified/participatory in. having that unfulfilled yearning feels significant to his character to me

i think falin would enjoy it the most out of everyone w so many little treats to try. marcille ends up blowing thru her budget twice over bc falin will see those little pastries in fun shapes and turn on the puppy eyes. they both get a stomach ache from eating too much every time and never learn their lesson

senshi doesnt go, hes appalled at the prices and the questionable food quality at some of the stalls, and he cant put up his own stall bc he doesnt have the right paperwork. the crowds are too much to deal with for him anyways. hes probably friends with a few of the vendors though

its wayyy too expensive and crowded for chilchuck, i think him and laios both get completely overwhelmed by the people and noise so if they do go theyre both sticking to the far seating areas the entire time. falin shares her bounty w them but laios is the only one who tries everything she brings back

kabru collects a whole lot of unexpected free samples and then sits along the riverside bar and eavesdrops. also i think he would like the nut stall based on absolutely nothing but pure vibes

hi! i love your brisbane meshi au and saw you mention that you headcanon senshi as japanese-iranian. genuinely curious, is there a reason why?

a lot of the reasons i read him as japanese are most likely little bits of cultural influence from miss ryoko herself but i still think its fun to tack them onto his characterisation (like the type of food he makes and his quiet, self-sufficient style of masculinity)

the iranian part mainly comes from how hes drawn in modern au sketches/with his helmet off hehee i was reading the ddh volumes in between chapters and it rly struck me how much he looks like a very beautiful middle-eastern man LOL
