Hey! I was wondering if you have any updates on the latam dub situation and if you were/will be able to contact the dub director
Hi!
Well, I could get the translator (you know, our dear rouge translator) and he told me that while he doesn't remember it completely (Because he translates a ton of series), if Dean said "And I you" it's because the script he got said "And I you" and the video he saw said "And I you" because he doesn't add stuff.
no no but. hold on. i — wheeze — this is so fucking amazing. because like. LIKE. not only did they lie about this, they made 46 year old father of two actor man misha collins film a video in portrait mode on his little iPhone ON THANKSGIVING WEEKEND for it, and THEN. HE ENDED UP HAVING TO APOLOGIZE FOR THE VIDEO ALSO. JUST. NO. WHERE ELSE
I desperately need people to start respecting VAs who work in dubs I'm so serious. I don't care whether you watch them (because people will always tell you if they don't!!) but don't just dismiss them.
Both times Dean is referred to as Sam's man in the latam dub. Just because I can screen record now <3
"Loyal, stubborn Sam who, I suspect, will never rest until he sets his brother free. Will never rest until his man is free of the Mark."
"Sammy! Hey. And... your man?"
"Here."
I genuinely believe there was an error with the translation script or something in that first one because those lines are MESSY. That ellipsis does not belong there. "Sospechó" is not the same as "sospecho" and the voice actor is clearly struggling trying to make it make sense. The delivery is just. Weird. I don't know.
how i as a latina feel with destiel being canon in the spanish dub when in the original version writers were fucking pussies and didn't let the gays be happy:
i think its very funny that we actually already knew there was no rogue director/translator since december 2020. but because its been so long everyone just forgot and we got to experience mass hysteria all over again. i love the desticule <3
periodically struck by just how fucking insane the latam dub situation was. at some point in the process of translating and dubbing 15x18 into spanish dean winchester was made canonically bisexual and in romantic love with cas and to this day three years later we have no fucking clue how it happened because every single person involved denies responsibility. misha collins, mid-divorce on thanksgiving 2020, says dean never reciprocated and it must have been a rogue translator. translator says he did not fucking do that and if there's an i love you in his script it's because there was an i love you in the script and video he received. guillermo rojas (dub voice actor) says adrian fogarty (dub director) changed the exact wording to match the lip movements better but didn't change the meaning of what was said. either someone is lying or some truly deranged destiel fan committed the ultimate girlboss move of intercepting the script and video in between them leaving the cw and reaching the translator
I have terrible news for the SPN Latam fandom, and I am saying this in English because I know you guys are interested in it too.
Unfortunately, today it was announced that Adrian Fogarty, who was the director of the Latam dubbing of Supernatural seasons 12 and 15 (And thus responsible for the "Y yo a ti" scene) died in the hospital due to health complications. There are no more details, and I don't want to bother the family asking for them, but he was only 54 years old.
Besides his work in Supernatural, Adrian was also the voice of Vince Vicente in the series, the original Tommy in Power Rangers, Aladdin in the TV series from Disney, Beavis in Beavis and Butthead, Cosgood Creeps in Scoobynatural, and was the translator for Chasing Amy, Death Note, Pirates of the Caribbean 1, Tarzan, some episodes of Bones, and others -including some uncredited episodes of Supernatural.
As I said, he'll be sorely missed, because he was always a light for everyone who knew him in person.
He's survived by his wife, Mara Constantini, two sons and a daughter.
