In the film version of Return of the King, the hobbits return to the Shire and the place stayed just the same. Blissfully unaware people who have no idea of how close their destruction was look at the freshly arrived heroes like if they were freaks.
Frodo saved them all, but they will never possibly understand. Fighting with his ptsd, he recludes himself in his home.
