as much as i want- no need oscar to win a grand prix as soon as possible for my own mental health, i think we all need to take a moment and think about how early into oscar's f1 career we still are. imola '24 was oscar's 28th grand prix start.

let's take a look at a list of the drivers on the grid that have won and how many race starts it took for them to achieve their maiden victory:

sergio perez (190), carlos sainz (150), lando norris (109), george russell (81), valtteri bottas (81), esteban ocon (78), daniel ricciardo (57), pierre gasly (55), charles leclerc (34), max verstappen (23), fernando alonso (13), lewis hamilton (6).

those stats show just how impressive it is that we're even talking about the possibility of oscar winning a grand prix, because the only people who had achieved a win at this point in their careers are the three world champions currently on the grid.

so again, i want oscar to win as soon as possible for his sake and for my own, but to quote oscar himself: 'i have been happy with how I’ve been performing. of course, i want to get some better results for that but i'm sure if i keep doing the right thing, that time will come.'

Simon shuts his mouth, you give him a minute to come up with something nice to say. You know he has trouble with that.

"That I have not given you any training." He says finally.

"Yeah that's what I thought," you tell him, "anything I am it's because you have a kink for it." Simon opens his mouth to protest and you give him a waiting look. He closes it.

"Let's start with something easy," he ignores your smile, "I'm going to tell you to do something, and you're not going to do it."

"What if I want to do it?"

"You're not going to want to do it," he says firmly, you roll your eyes. Simon tugs his knife from his pocket, flipping the latch to spring the blade free. He holds it out to you, handle first. You look between him and the knife. He doesn't budge. You take it from him, feeling the weight of it in your hand. Thin strands of gold string like spider silk between the two of you. "These are tethers," Simon tells you, giving you time to get used to holding the weapon, "I'm going to pull on one and it's going to try and make you do something you don't want to do. All you have to do, is not do it."

Sounds simple enough. You nod.

"I want you to-"

You stab him, sliding the blade into his stomach without resistance. Theres hardly a grunt of pain from Simon. Your shoulders, hunched to put force behind the movement, drop. His shirt darkens around the blade, black creeping out across the cloth. You watch, transfixed.

"Huh," he says.

"Huh," you echo.

"There something you want to tell me Love?" He asks, you raise your eyes to look at him sheepishly.

"I've always wanted to stab someone?" You wince at how high your voice gets. Simon sighs.

"Right." He wraps his hand around yours and pulls the knife free with one sharp jerk. "Right, get your keys, we're going out." He turns away from you, grabbing his jacket as you fumble grab your house keys from the bowl.

"Hey can I keep the knife?"

"No."
