Fred, trying not to convulse: ...yes

“P-please? Just this once?’ Yachi begs, fingers gripping your sleeve like a vice.
You’re sorely tempted to refuse her ridiculous request, but you can’t bring yourself to. This is Yachi Hitoka, your best friend, though currently she’s a nervous wreck fretting over her first date with Yamaguchi Tadashi. The sweet, freckled Hufflepuff chaser has finally worked up the courage to act on his painfully obvious crush on Yachi - both veritable balls of sunshine, so sweet and anxious and caring that you can’t imagine a better match.
So you don’t understand why on earth you’re being asked to tag along on a double date with one Tsukkishima Kei.
It’s not that you dislike the guy – far from it. You’ve had a crush on him yourself ever since Yachi started hanging around Yamaguchi in your third year, sucking you and Tsukkishima have been sucked into their orbit, reluctant moons revolving around twin suns. But you’ve tucked it away since Tsukkishima doesn’t seem to have an interest in anyone at all – in fact, half the time his snarky replies and cold silences make you think he barely tolerates Yamaguchi as a friend, let alone yourself.
Still, refusing Yachi is tantamount to kicking an injured puppy, so you swallow your reservations and agree.
‘Thank you!’ Yachi cheers. ‘We’ll have fun, I promise!’
-----------------------------------------
It’s summer, and your blouse is sticking to your back as you dash through Diagon Alley. Tsukkishima and Yamaguchi are already waiting in front of Flourish & Botts, the former barely even granting you a nod, though he does give you the courtesy of removing his headphones, while Yamaguchi bounces on the balls of his feet to greet you cheerfully.
‘Woah there Yamaguchi – keep your enthusiasm for your date’, you joke, and he grins back at you.  And he does – stuttering and blushing as Yachi arrives. Yachi herself is no better – you swear you can hear her teeth chatter as she greets all of you, though she beams when Yamaguchi presents her with a small posy of flowers with clammy hands.
‘They’re cute’, you remark to Tsukkishima as you walk beside him on the way to the first stop -  Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour.
‘Mm’, he responds, his face blank.
You know he doesn’t suffer fools – worse still, talkative ones, so you fall silent until you reach the ice cream store. To your surprise, he pulls the chair out for you, and accepts your offer to share a cup of ice cream with you, a tilt to his lips when you automatically order a strawberry shortcake sundae – it’s his favourite after all.
Yachi and Yamaguchi seem to have gotten over their initial shyness, chatting up a storm in their own little world. You’re excluded, as you expected, but you’re glad for their sakes.
‘Excited about the last year of school?’
You glance up from your melting sundae, surprised that Tsukkishima is the first to break and initiate a conversation. From your interactions with him, he’s deliberate and methodical in his thoughts and words, so you take a few beats to formulate a response.
‘Yes and no, really’, you answer honestly.
He raises a thin blonde eyebrow, wordlessly beckoning you to elaborate.
‘I’m excited for our classes, the syllabus seems really interesting this year’, you say, wincing at how desperately nerdy you sound – but you’re a hopeless Ravenclaw, and advanced Arithmancy and Astronomy excites you. ‘But it’s scary isn’t it – knowing that it’s our last year, and having to make all those important decisions that are going to affect us, years down the road?’
He hums thoughtfully. ‘I get that’, he responds, hands steepled under his chin. ‘I’m deciding between doing further studies in magical history and going pro – just for a few more years. But I know no matter what decision I end up making, I’ll probably end up second guessing myself’.
‘Why can’t you do both?’ you find yourself saying before you can stop yourself. His brow furrows a notch. ‘You’re great at both, and I can’t see why you can’t as long as you put your mind to it’.
You cringe at your cheesiness, expecting him to snark at you for your Hufflepuff-like optimism the way he does with Yamaguchi, but you’re surprised once again when he mutters a quiet ‘thanks’, a flush high in his cheeks, and then asks -  ‘And what about you?’
You wonder if he’s merely being polite, but his tone is serious, and his eyes are intently focused on you, so you tell him about your plans of taking on further studies in Arithmancy, perhaps even enroll in a Muggle university to study Mathematics for a semester or two, before working in Gringotts. The goblins may be archaic in their beliefs about the magical world, but their application of mathematics is extremely advanced.
‘It suits you’, he comments. You want to ask him what he means by that, but Yachi pipes up from across the table.
‘If you’re done with your ice cream, do you guys want to check out the magical menagerie? Yamaguchi’s going to get a cat!’
Before you can agree, Tsukkishima tells Yachi and Yamaguchi to go on ahead, drolly reminding them that they’re on a date, and they should go spend some quality time together. So they head off with wide smiles, shoulders bumping. They’re so sweet together it almost makes your teeth ache. Well, at least you’ve been dismissed as their reluctant chaperone, and you’re about to wish Tsukkishima a polite farewell when he taps your shoulder.
‘Let’s go check out Flourish & Botts. I’m sure you have books you want to check out’.
You blink – because you do, but you don’t expect Tsukkishima to accompany you, let alone be the one seeking out your company. He doesn’t even wait for your assent before he sets off, and you have to jog to keep up with the pace his long legs set. Thankfully, he notices you’re still lagging behind and slows down, though he teases dryly – ‘you know, at the rate you’re walking, I’m not sure we’ll get there before sundown’.
You pointedly look up at the sun, still high in the sky, before levelling an unimpressed glare at him. He only smirks in response – and you’re so flustered by how attractive his expression is that you nearly trip over the threshold to Flourish & Botts. He catches you with a steady hand to your elbow – and now your heart is fluttering – is this how Yachi is like all the time? If so, you should really cut her some slack – the thoughts crowding your mind so distracting that you hardly hear Tsukkishima call your name in concern until he shakes your shoulder gently.
‘Are you alright?’ Tsukkishima repeats, with a frown.
‘Y-yes’, you reply, cursing your traitorous heart again. He doesn’t look like he believes you, insistently pushing you towards an empty couch.
He clicks his tongue. ‘Don’t move’ he orders, before he disappears, probably to get the books he has his eyes on.
You sink into the cushions, resisting the urge to bury your face in your hands in embarrassment. An hour spent in his presence and you’ve already turned back into a lovesick fool. You’ve told yourself countless times to just get over your silly crush on him already because it’s not going to do you any good.
Yamaguchi’s complained to you and Yachi countless times about girls asking him if Tsukkishima is single, but you don’t see him taking an interest in anyone at all – spending all his time instead in the library and on the Quidditch pitch.
He’s the stone faced beater from Ravenclaw. People wonder sometimes if ice flows in his veins – but they don’t see the determined set of his jaw when he’s ploughing through homework and assignments because he knows he’s going to have to spend the whole day in training the next day, the glint of satisfaction in his eyes whenever he wins a match or scores a good grade, the patience he expends tutoring Yamaguchi (along with Hinata and Kageyama) in Ancient Runes –
Oh Merlin. You’re a hopeless case.
You jump when he returns and drops into a seat beside you.
‘Oi, what’s wrong with you’, he mutters a tad scornfully, though he drops the book you were eyeing onto your lap.
‘N-nothing. T-thanks!’ you answer, internally cursing yourself for even picking up Yachi’s speech patterns.
Get it together. You’re not a fool.
He hums, browsing his own book.
It’s pleasant spending an afternoon in a nook reading books. It’s not so pleasant when your heart palpitates every single time his knee grazes yours - and if you shift just a tiny bit to the left you’re pressing against his side and - oh
‘Are you sure you’re ok?’ he asks, frowning again, when he notices you’ve been reading the same page for the past fifteen minutes.
‘F-fine’, you stammer, warmth flooding your cheeks when he leans his face dangerously close to yours, bringing his palm to brush against your forehead.
‘Your temperature’s fine’, he mutters, but he doesn’t pull away – and oh gosh, you’re so close you can count every single lash on his eyes, your traitorous heart causing you to drown in the quiet concern in his eyes – and oh -
You’re not quite sure who makes the first move because your eyes flutter close, your nose bumps against his and you feel his chapped lips against yours for a split second before he pulls away.
You open your eyes.
Did that truly happen?
Judging from the blank expression on his face, the past few seconds were probably just a fever dream. But there are signs that cool, quiet Tsukkishima isn’t his usual self - a flush creeping up the back of his neck, his fingers gripping the pages of the book so tightly it starts to crinkle.
‘What was that?’ you blurt out, confused.
‘What was what?’ Though his voice remains calm and collected, his flush has traveled all the way to the very tips of his ears.
‘Nothing’, you answer, dropping your eyes back to the open book on your lap, your mind in a whirl. Surely you didn’t imagine that, right? Did you just - did he just - wait, you’re confused again, what’s going on?
Your thoughts are interrupted by elegant, long fingers slotting between your own. ‘Silly’ he mutters, but there’s a fond twist to his lips and a softness in his eyes that you’ve never seen before.
‘I’m pretty sure I’m not the only silly one here’, you respond, in a sudden swell of confidence, though your pulse is sending tremors down your spine, your breath catching in your throat. ‘I’m pretty sure you’re the silly one too’. You curl your fingers over his and lean into his side.
He hums diffidently. ‘I guess it might seem that way’.
You both share a shy smile.
-----------------------------------------
Yachi is smug when you confess to her later that Tsukkishima - no - Kei asked you out as he walked you home that evening.
‘I told you that we’d have fun!’, she says, grinning cheek to cheek. Then she starts rambling on and on about future double dates with her and Yamaguchi in Madame Puddifoots, where you can share couple sundaes and steaming mugs of hot chocolate - wouldn’t that be wonderful?
You resist the urge to tell her that Kei has sworn off any future double dates - let alone at the white and pink lace bedazzled monstrosity of a cafe, and his suggestion of a quiet afternoon spent at his favourite bookshop cafe sounds far more inviting to you.
You’ll let Yamaguchi break the news to her later, on a more appropriate date.
Instead you just smile to yourself, thinking of the quiet affection in his voice as he wished you farewell, and the suppressed delight in his eyes when you called his name just as he was about to turn away and surprised him by pulling him down to you and pressing your lips to his cheek.
Yachi’s right. You did have fun after all.

“Y/n, I really don’t get what you’re trying to do.” Tsukishima finally turned to face you.
“It’s okay,” You grabbed his hand encouragingly, “Because I feel the same as you.”
“What are you-”
“Kei, I know you love me. I have never once doubted that. And I wholeheartedly love you, too.” You stated, cutting Tsukki off, “ But I also know that you and Tadashi have been in each other's lives for a long time.”
“Fine.”
“What?”
Tsukishima sighed, running his fingers through his hair. He knew it was better to tell you everything he felt rather than try to keep it in.
“I have had some minor feelings for Tadashi since highschool. Well, maybe they developed before then, but that was when I accepted them for the first time.” He started to go red.
“I had always thought that they were just background noise in my mind, he’s my best friend of course I have special feelings for him. And then you came along, and I wondered if I had mixed up my feelings.” Tsukki continued. “And then I got to see both of you together every day, and I’m so happy with you, but something did feel missing for the longest time.”
“And the missing link is him.” You put a hand on his shoulder, “I feel the same way. I didn’t realize it at first either until this morning.”
You relayed the events of the coffee shop, and your lunch with Yamaguchi to Tsukki. Making sure to detail your feelings toward the cute freckled boy as well. You and your boyfriend had always been honest and open when communicating with each other and this time was no different.
“I saw you both at lunch today. I felt so jealous I couldn’t be there with you two.” Tsukishima murmured.
You giggled, “Well, I’m glad that I brought this up tonight. I love you, and I’m so happy you feel comfortable enough to confide all this to me.” Kei hummed in agreement.
“So,” you fiddled with Kei’s fingers. “What do you want to do?”
“I want to be with you, y/n. And if you are comfortable with it, I want to include Tadashi in our relationship.”
“I want that too.”
“How are we going to approach him with this whole mess y/n? Tadashi is a little feint of heart; we can’t just attack him with our feelings.”
“Well, we better figure it out now, he’s coming over tomorrow.” You and Tsukki pondered how to introduce Tadashi to the idea that you both liked him. Did he even feel the same? What if he only likes Tsukki in that way? You worried slightly.
“You know, Yams was my first kiss.” Tsukki muttered, trying to lighten the mood after sensing your unease.
“WHAT?”
“Yeah, we did that whole ‘let’s practice so we’ll be ready for our actual first kisses’ thing.” Tsukishima put his hand over his face in embarrassment, internally cringing. You laughed, relieved that the confrontation had gone well, and that your boyfriend trusted you enough to confide in you.
“If it makes you feel better, I definitely fantasized about a threesome with you two when we first met.”
“Oh really,” Tsukki grabbed your hips, pushing you against the counter lightly. “I may have done the same thing…” You felt his growing length press up against your stomach. “I’d love to see what you look like with Tadashi in your mouth while I fuck you.”
“I wasn’t expecting this reaction,” You moaned as Tsukishima started kissing your neck.“You got excited fast, Kei, how often did you dream of the three of us together hmm?” You teased.
“Am I not allowed to lust after the two people I love?” He murmured in your ear. You reached down and started palming Tsukki’s hard crotch. He sucked on your neck as he slithered his fingers towards the waistband of your pants. Your breath hitched as you felt him lower his hand fully into your pants.
Ready to feel the pleasure of Kei’s fingers, you close your eyes in anticipation and spread your legs. The tips of his fingers slowly started massaging your clit, sending shivers up your spine. Tsukishima left wet kisses on your shoulder before opening his mouth to speak. You prepared yourself for whatever smart ass remark he was going to say about how wet you were, when his phone rang.
“Ah, it’s the man of the hour.” Tsukki said, checking the caller ID. He kept rubbing circles on your clit as he picked up the phone. “Hello?”
“Ahhh hi Tsukki! I’m sorry I’m calling so late, I just wondered if you and y/n wanted anything specific from the store for tomorrow. I can pick something up on my way over.”
“Oh, yeah y/n told me you were coming, let me put the phone on speaker.” Tsukishima turned to you, hand still down your pants, fingers creeping closer to your entrance.
“Kei, I swear to god.” You hissed.
“What was that y/n?”
“N-Nothing, hi Tadashi,” you stammered as Tsukkis fingers rubbed your slit. “Uhm, Tsukki and I can make lunch if you want to bring drinks? I-I’m ah.” You covered your mouth as Tsukishima’s fingers entered you, rubbing your weakest spots.
“Drinks sound good! I’ll get some soju and strawberry lemonade!” On the other side of the line. Yamaguchi could sense something was up. Why is y/n whispering..and Tsukki seems to be in a good mood… He tried not to let his thoughts wander somewhere they shouldn’t.
“Thanks Tadashi.” Tsukki spoke over your muffled voice, “See you tomorrow.”
“Yes! Have a good night.” Yamaguchi heard Tsukki set the phone down on the counter, forgetting to press ‘end call’. He knew he should probably be the one to hang up but, he let his curiosity take over.
You and Tsukki’s voices were muffled. Tadashi strained to hear bits and pieces of the conversation.
“Kei! What if he had heard…”
“You would have liked that huh….” Tsukishima teased, “If everything goes right tomorrow, he’ll be hearing this often anyways…”
If what happens tomorrow? Tadashi’s eyes widened, just what are they talking about???? He was ripped from his thoughts as he heard you moan out in pleasure. Yamaguchi felt his heart racing as he listened to your seductive calls for Tsukki.
“Please, enough teasing, take me now.” He heard you demand the tall blonde.
“You want to get fucked on the counter y/n? Pretty naughty of you, but if that’s really what you want…”
“Yes! Oh fuck”
Yamaguchi’s face went red as he realized the gravity of the situation he was in. His two best friends were having sex, and he could hear it all over the still live call. He knew he shouldn’t be getting hard, but he couldn’t help it. By the time he snapped back to reality, his length was fully erect.
The next few moments were a blur for poor Yamaguchi. Thank god he was in the privacy of his bedroom. He lied in bed, dick in hand, pleasuring himself to the accidental voyeurism of his friends.
“Kei, harder! Aaaugn..” Yamaguchi could hear the slapping of skin as Tsukishima railed into you. Your moans were like music to his ears as he stroked himself.
“I can’t wait to share you with Tadashi, y/n, you’re so fucking hot when you get fucked like this.” A small gasp slipped out of Yams’ throat as he suddenly came with one last pump of his hand. The mere thought of sharing you with Tsukki pushed him over the edge.
“Ahn, did you hear that?” Tadashi’s eyes widened as he quickly hung up the phone, praying neither of you noticed. Struggling to catch his breath, he cleaned up the mess he made with his release. Then, the big realization hit him.
WAIT
Hold the fucking phone…
Tsukki said out loud, “share you with Tadashi” to y/n….
Yamaguchi’s eyes widened, heart suddenly palpitating in shock as his mind raced.
What the hell is going on?????

karasuno as guy best friends
all platonic over here, folks.
[reuploading due to tagging problems grr]
Tumblr media
SUGAWARA KOUSHI made you swoon the first you met him and no one could blame you - ‘hii i don’t think we’ve met, i’m suga :)’ cue hand shake and soft hand squeeze and pretty eyes staring right into you melting your insides.. he’s just naturally sweet towards everyone and you learn this eventually. loves giving head pats and asking about your day and telling you to ‘take care text me when you get home!’ you‘re always telling him whoever he’d end up with would be the luckiest person on earth and you’d never forgive them if they hurt him. the type of guy best friend who spams your profile pic with comments - ‘wHO IS SHE’, ‘ohhh she glowin!’ - and acts all surprised as if you hadn’t just asked him to choose that photo for you. has a sixth sense for you that’s always so on-point he could tell when you’re faking a smile and would drag you out of the room discreetly saying ‘c’mon lets talk’
DAICHI SAWAMURA acts as the parent/legal guardian throughout your friendship, always reminding you to drink your water and to drop instant noodles from your diet. he has your birthday penciled into his planner and phone calendar, remembers your hyper-specific coffee order from starbucks, and knows all your pet peeves - from slow walkers to being told to ‘chill’ because it invalidates your feelings. the best friend you can trust to do your yearbook write up for you because he knows all your best qualities and remembers all your achievements by heart. doesn’t seem to be aware of his own popularity - his mental age surpasses that of people his age - and couldn’t be bothered with anything concerning romance so you’re always trying to pimp him out set him up with friends and friends of friends who are dying to date him
ASAHI AZUMANE’s always seen as the understated friend in the group just quietly soaking up everyone’s stories in the background but actually has a comedic streak only you and few others know about. it’s easy to miss because he’s too shy to say his jokes out loud so he mumbles them to himself, and they’re so insanely corny - delivered with a straight face - it had you tearing up from laughter the first time you caught him. you love that his brand of funny is free from any kind of attention seeking and feel lucky to be one of the few to witness this side of him. his sense of humor shines best when innocently poking fun at his close friends like doing accurate re-enactments of suga smizing at his reflection or daichi holding his screen 10 inches from his face, or when you’re expressively telling a story and he goes “do that face again” so you do it and he’s like “one more” and idiot you does it again before realizing bitch is trolling you ugh
NISHINOYA YUU is your wild card friend - you never know when he’d show up to things, but when he does, everyone knows. the friend you wished upon a shooting star the way Lilo did and ended up getting a gremlin smh. he’s the spark plug for spontaneous action in your life - would randomly text blast everyone on a weekend to hangout and watch that rooster fight in his neighborhood or go feral at the batting cage downtown, and you’re like wtf...game. deep conversations aren’t really his thing but you’re always so down for anything, to ride along with all the shit he enjoys and listen to his ramblings and it’s that rawness he loves about your friendship. the best friend that has a tendency to go missing in action all of a sudden and no one knows where he is but will randomly hit you up at 10pm to grab ramen with him or those ghetto ass meals ($0.80 rice burgers ftw) on the sidewalk that give you both diarrhea
TANAKA RYUUNOSUKE tried to shoot his shot with you the first you met; now cringes whenever reminded about it because you’re a sausage to him now, as sausage everyone else on the team. the best friend who’s down to hang out literally from morning ‘til dawn, have friends over for a week, go out for late night visits or spontaneous road trips - really anything that serves an excuse to be with the bros (including you). you’d joke about growing sick of each other’s company but deep down you know he’s the one person you could never tire of and run out of fun things to do with. the best friend you could simply be drinking grapefruit shochu with or eating cup noodles and it’d still be one of the most memorable moments with him. the most reliable especially when you’ve gone through a messy break up or when it’s red season - will come over with a whole bag of instant ramen, some takoyaki and some ibuprofen (regardless of the situation)
you and HINATA SHOUYO hit it off within the first hour of meeting each other. you’ve screeched talked about everything there’s to know about the other - volleyball, school life, mutual friends, music taste, siblings, irrational fears and childhood traumas - added each other on facebook, followed each other’s instagram, made plans to watch that game in another school; all within an hour. there’s just something about him that makes it easy for you to open up about anything. the friend that gets you all flustered at the start because he’s so touchy and always poking and hugging you every chance he gets (turns out he’s an accidental flirt). he’s your number one fan and cheerleader and has a way with words that always lifts your spirit, but also definitely the best friend who always gets you sent out of class because your thumb wrestling match or game of tic tac toe got over competitive
KAGEYAMA TOBIO isn’t sure who or what exactly counts as a best friend but he knows which people to trust and which ones trust him back and accept him as he is. yours is a friendship where seeing and talking to each other might happen every few weeks (or even months) but knowing you can count on the other for support and encouragement. there’s never any pressure to be more expressive and he feels comfortable to just be his normal self around you; you’ve probably bonded over mutual interest like volleyball or just sports in general, something that made a lasting impression and led to keeping in touch. you can’t be there in all his games but you make sure to stay updated and send him a ‘congrats!’ or ‘you did your best!’ after matches. you’re sometimes mistaken for his s/o (with how comfortable he is with you), and though neither of you give a shit and even ride along with it sometimes, deep down you’re both thinking: ‘HARD PASS’
YAMAGUCHI TADASHI - timid and innocent, that’s the first impression he gives off to a lot of people. he seems hard to get to know at first but all it takes is a little kindness and authenticity for this boy to warm up to you. deep down he’s hemorrhaging with happiness whenever someone introduces themselves and welcomes him as a friend - he’s never really sure if people like him and he doesn’t like imposing on others. even on a best friend level you’ll learn that there’s so much more layers to him - that he’s loudest when nerding out on things like underdog athletes and comics and art, that he has an eye for aesthetic and beauty and is easily attracted to pretty faces and stylish dressers (but is blind to red flags sighh). he keeps you updated with the trendiest stuff like that milk tea store that just opened or that new release on netflix — always up to date with everything ugh
to TSUKISHIMA KEI, people are either strangers or friends. you could be talking or working together on a daily basis but he’d still consider your friendship superficial; inversely, you could be hanging out only once/twice a week but your conversations would always be interesting or challenging enough for him to keep you around. you’re most likely the louder one or always the one initiating conversations and asking to hang out with him; he’ll call you annoying but secretly appreciates your genuine interest in reaching out to him. you’ll know he acknowledges you as a friend when gives you song recs based on your music taste or asks for your opinion on things - should he get new headphones or that limited edition t-rex figurine? he’ll engage you in debate while studying, in talks about social issues and maybe some existential stuff and you’ll learn that the unforeseeable future led by your generation keeps him up at night

素敵な男の子. Lovely Boy
Tumblr media
↠ Pairing: Tsukishima Kei x Yamaguchi Tadashi
↠ Warning: just fluff and soft Tsukishima
↬ Word Count: 3.1k
↣ a/n: ohayo!! Welcome to Day 1 of the TsukkiYama Week ヽ(*´з`*)ノ originally, this was going to be an nsfw, but I read late that it was only SFW Content only (~‾∇‾)~ I hope you all enjoy!!
Summary: tired of being known as a cold, heartless man, and someone who belittles their relationship, Tsukishima pushes back all of his own problems and traumatic experiences and shows just how much he loves and appreciates Yamaguchi and gives back all of the love and affection he has given to him since they were kids.
⇢ Day 1: Affection @tsukkiyama-week
Tumblr media
"Shut up, Yamaguchi."
Those were the lines he'd hear in an everyday basis from the tall blonde. That didn't make Yamaguchi falter though, he was used to his snarky comments and daily mocking. Even as a middle schooler, he didn't shed a tear when he was proclaimed to be, "lame" by Tsukishima on their first meeting.
Everything was fine for Yamaguchi. That is, until by faith, they had came out of their shells when they hit third year in high school and spoke up to the unbearable feelings they've held for eachother for so long.
One can only wish for their partners to be a bit...clingy per say.
For the past few years before entering this relationship they now have as college students, Yamaguchi was the and always the first one to initiate sweet comments, little surprises and small touches towards the blonde. And for years as a child until now, he had been referred to as "Tsukishima's Magnet" for always clinging onto him or following him around like a lost puppy.
Sometimes, Yamaguchi wishes for him to do the same. Even just a little. He couldn't voice that out even as they agreed before that they should open up more than ever now that they're in a relationship. But somehow entering a new, unexpected level in life, Yamaguchi began to revert back to his child self. Shy and quiet, never able to speak what was on his mind or what he likes and just let's everything slide by.
He felt selfish and needy to imagine Tsukishima actually showering him with affections out of his character for once. Imagine that all the words and actions he has given before would be reciprocated. But still he thought, he couldn't really force his lover to follow along his own needs. He didn't want to put more pressure on the males shoulder seeing as he has his own world he has yet to know about.
That didn't stop him from dreaming all of those whenever he sees a couple doing all those in real life, novels and television shows.
Now for Tsukishima, he has a keen eye. He would catch the fond look behind Yamaguchi's eyes whenever they would come across those sights or when they talk about something and him, being the sweetheart, always giving him heartwarming feedbacks and little touches. Tsukishima knows how this was affecting Yamaguchi, if he was to be told the truth he would admit that he really thinks of himself as a frustration.
He used to be so lively as a child, even not afraid to say "I love you" to his own brother without feeling awkward or cringing. Sadly, those days had died down ever since he developed trust issues to all then people that comes in his life. But still, this was Yamaguchi, the only person who has stuck with him throughout his life even as he was being an asshole to many including him. He was both his only friend and family. He should atleast have the decency to act like a boyfriend who cares about the relationship they've built. Not some jerk who would take advantage of someones precious heart.
Sighing, Tsukishima removes his glasses and closes his eyes. It was already 6:30 PM and Yamaguchi was yet to arrive at his place since he went over to their old manager, Yachi, for a bit of help with his papers.
That was another thing that bothers and scares Tsukishima to the bone. The very thought of Yamaguchi going to the girl he almost liked back in highschool, the one who might be, right now giving him the amount of praise he should've been giving him, or the comfort he should've given back after all of Yamaguchi's doings shakens him.
In all honesty, Tsukishima thought that in the end, it would be Yamaguchi and her. But driven by bitterness and hidden longing, he had manage to grab a hold of his heart and became his.
Yes, Yamaguchi was his but why did it feel like he wasn't his entirely?
Tsukishima knows he's a terrible partner to begin with. He knows that if in the past, if he had answered to the flock of girls confessing to him before, they wouldn't even last a week with him and his confusing personality. Not that he'd want that to happen, he didn't want to be stuck in a relationship with some squealing woman just for his looks. He wants Yamaguchi and he needed to do something for him atleast to show him after for long what he meant when he said that he loves him.
His bedroom door swung gently before he could open his eyes, only to be greeted by that lovely, shy chirp greeting and the line he has never grown tired of hearing.
"Sorry, Tsukki!"
He was finally back.
"Yachi and I had a bit of a chat after helping me. I hope you don't mind," a small vein popped on Tsukishima's forehead, seeing Yamaguchi get flustered and his cheeks tinted with pink about someone othet was oddly not pleasant to him, "We can still continue movie night though. My parents don't mind me staying over at your place."
Placing his glasses back as he hears the bag drop beside his bed, he watches Yamaguchi rummage over his things to take out his laptop for them to watch as promised.
Tsukishima couldn't help but still feel troubled, usually when having movie nights with his lover, you'd expect a lot of cuddling and kisses here and there from all couples. But for them it was just watching with a space between them and nothing but a few words exchanged. And now, seeing as he was planning on doing something about it, he bit his lip on the sudden thought of canceling movie night for something else.
Something that's all about Yamaguchi and how he'd show him that he actually values the relationship and how much he loves him.
"Wait."
He mutters out as Yamaguchi had already opened his laptop placed on his lap. He looks behind his shoulder, blinking in confusion a little seeing Tsukishima stare at him intensely.
"Something wrong, Tsukki?"
He was thankful the boy didn't see him gulp wgen he had looked at him almost innocently with a tone so sweet and pure, his sadistic side was fueled. One of the few reasons why he loved teasing Yamaguchi and mocking him was the way he reacts. His tone going soft and pouty when he says sorry, or when his eyes would sadden a little looking like a puppy, or when he subconsciously puffs his cheeks in annoyance or happiness.
He wished he could've told him sooner how much he loves and notices the little things about Yamaguchi. The little things that cause big problems for him.
"Tsukki?"
"Dammit.."
Roughly pushing back his chair that grazed on his carpeted floor, he takes big steps behind him and kneels down on his level. He surrounds his arms around Yamaguchi's body from behind, shutting his laptop and quickly placing it down away from him, only for him to wrap his arms back on the males body, nuzzling his nose on the side of his neck and hearing his breath hitch from the sensitivity.
"Dammit all."
Squeaking a little, Yamaguchi feels his entire weight being carried as if he was as light as a pillow and lands on the soft mattress after Tsukishima had gently laid him down on. Sprawled and with a flushed face, Yamaguchi gulps as Tsukishima hovers over his body, trapping him in between his arms as he looks at him with that same annoyed look he always puts on whenever he was with Hinata.
"W-wait, Tsukki, what's gotten into you?"
"Shut up."
Obligating as he was told, his mouth forms into a tight, thin line. His forehead slowly forming sweats from his shaken nerves and with a bit of anticipation. Tsukishima could only scoff and push his glasses back to avoid falling, leaning his head in as he hears the person beneath him whimper when he dips his face on the side of his neck.
"Just let me do this for you."
Yamaguchi didn't quite catch what he had said as was about to ask, but words couldn't escape his mouth as whimpers and small whines were the only things he could emit at the moment when he feels his cold lips give the sensitive skin by his neck small kisses. He wantes to wrap his arms around the male hovering over him, but he also didn't want this little moment end in awkwardness seeing as he has never really held Tsukishima close to him.
Of course, he notices it since he has an eye for his reactions to see if he loves it. Breathing out softly, he uses his other hand to grab his arm, wrapping it on his neck and giving the side of his ear a small peck, "Do it," he didn't miss the way his bodt shuddered at the sound of his voice close to his ear, "If you want to wrap your arms around me, do it. I don't mind."
That made Yamaguchi's heart pound, the butterflies in his stomach tickling him, making his body feel light and his toes curl. He gulps, biting back the smile on his face and slowly wraps the other arm around Tsukishima's neck. He hears him sigh ffom his neck when he was pulled closer to his body. Thinking maybe it was too close for his likings, he gradually loosens his arms around him, stopping when Tsukishima groans.
Instead, he feels his body being pulled as well by the small of his back, a hand cupping the back of his top head as Tsukishima settles himself between his legs and his face hidden on the side of his neck.
He was finally cuddling him.
It felt good. No, that was an understatement to him, it felt right. It was like hugging a warmer pillow, it made him almost doze off to sleep but he fights it back by nuzzling deeper if possible on his skin.
"Tsukki, what's wrong?"
The unusual and out of character behavior caught on Yamaguchi. They have never really initiated these kinds of things during their relationship. It was mostly just filled with talks about how their day went or about future jobs amd such. Since he grew up with him as a child, it was easy for him to read the sudden changes his lover would go to. It was difficult, surprising, but he still finds himself in daze whenever he was with him.
"Not that I don't like the change of course here," he panics a bit, he really doesn't want him to pull away from him from blurting it out, "I'm just, really curious what made you suddenly do this?"
Tsukishima closes his eyes for a brief moment. He really didn't want to miss the chance to tell him everything he's wanted to say for a long time now. He didn't want to come off like some douche again and just utter out the phrase that makes him shut up.
But if its for Yamaguchi, he's sure as hell doesn't want to come off lame.
"I just love you."
And by that little confession, it had done a number out of Yamaguchi. His face blows into a steam and boiling hot red. Subconsciously closing his legs around Tsukishima's body feeling giddy and light.
And this was his first time saying that first.
"I love you too, Tsukki," he moves his hand to pet his hair, rubbing his cheek on the side of his neck in affection, "So much."
"No, you don't get it."
Blinking in confusion at his statement, Tsukishima pushes himself off from his neck and hovers his face over his. Eyes locked onto eachother with intensity flowing into his yellow irises.
"I love you."
"W-what?"
"I love everything about you," he pauses, feeling his cheeks heat up as he looks away from his eyes, "By everything I mean every little thing about you."
"Tsukki—"
"I know I don't say this crap all the time, but I couldn't help but think I was being an ass of a partner to you. I know what I am to many and God do I hate to treat you the same way as I do to them when you don't even deserve it."
"Tsukki, wait."
"No," finally bringing back his gaze on Yamaguchi's, he leans his forehead in and presses it onto his. Thw tips of their nose booping eachother, "Please, this is the only time I get to tell you everything."
That was the first time Yamaguchi has ever heard him plead. It warmed his heart so much that he was making an effort into all of this and it makes him tear up a bit. So with a nod, he allows him to continue on with his words as his fingers massaged his scalp by habit.
"I know I lack so much. I'm not like any partner whom you'd want to spend your life with following behind and get less in a relationship. I know I don't show or give much effort into little things like praises or affections to you but," he stops when he opens his eyes that held a soft, lost and frustrated look in them.
"But I don't want to lose you or continue on like this. I want to give you so much more than you ever deserved, I want you to know that from the beginning, I always cared about you and kept an eye on you. That everything you've done made me so damn proud. That when I call you lame I was trying to tell you how amazing you are."
Each sentence made Yamaguchi's world crumble and shake. Sure, he gets so many kind words from a lot of people, but the fact that he was being cradled in the arms of his lovers who was speaking hushed love confessions hit him harder than anything. He was already biting his lip from the giddiness and his breathing slowed from the intense atmosphere.
"I see the way you'd look into the stories and shows that had romance in them. As sappy as it looks, I know how much you longed for that kind of intimacy and communication. And I know for sure as hell you deserve that kind of treatment."
He braces himself using his forearm behind Yamaguchi's head, bringing up his other free hand to cup his cheek and look lovingly at him. A rare sight that will forever burn inside his head.
"And I want to be the one that gives you all of those. Not Yachi, not anyone else. I want to be not only your partner, but someone who's connected to you. Someone you can put your faith on entirely without any doubt."
He was unable to speak, only able to open and close his mouth but no words could escape. But after a short while, Yamaguchi feels himself chuckle a bit and moves his hands on the side of Tsukishima's face with dreamy, teary eyes and a sincere smile.
"Tsukki, you don't have to worry about any of those. I don't think of you or me that way," consciously leaning on his warm palms, Tsukishima allows himself to be squished by his hands and continues, "Yachi and I are nothing more than friends. Even if I found her alluring before, Tsukki, it's always been you."
Lips pressing against eachother at the moment, to remind him that he was all his and no one else's. That he wasn't going anywhere. That it didn't matter what Tsukishima does, because he was still the same man he's ever loved. Pulling away briefly, Yamaguchi holds back a giggle when he sees Tsukishima slighty jut his lips out from the short kiss. If he knew it felt like that he would've done it more often.
"I don't want you pressuring yourself in a role that you don't find suiting. In my opinion, its much more better to understand someone and just love them for what they are rather than see them force themselves in a role that make's them unhappy."
"But I'm not forcing myself...If anything, I want to do it and make you happy."
Yamaguchi could only smile and laugh halfheartedly at his statement and hugs his head close.
"Ever since you came into my life, I've already been in my happiest state more than ever."
Tsukishima couldn't help but still feel guilty. He really didn't deserve someone as lovely as Yamaguchi in his life. He admits to himself that he was the one who was the lamest and crappiest person ever, but when he feels his chin being pushed up a bit to meet with his kind and loving gaze, he allows himself and his heart to beat rapidly as Yamaguchi speaks,
"Please don't ever think yourself lime that, Tsukki. It makes you look lame when I know otherwise that you are all I hoped for since we were kids."
Scoffing a bit at that statement with a hidden smile on his face, "I sound like a sap for godsake," he hears him laugh along his words, "But, if we can, will you let me treat you right again? Start all over?"
Pulling him back for a heated kiss, Tsukishima moves his hand behind the small of his back to push him closer whilst still cupping the back of his head and licking on his bottom lip, asking for entrance. Yamaguchi parts his lips and let's him deepen the kiss, messy with his hair as his glasses were starting to mist from their breathing.
None wanted to pull away, Tsukishima lightly teases his crotch with his knee thar made Yamaguchi squeak a bit into the kiss and pulls away with a strinf of saliva connecting them.
"That was mean."
"You're a lot more sensitive than I thought."
Both were breathless, but filled with so much love and assurance. Tsukishima had laid his head on his chest, listening to the sound of the heart he knows he owns and breaths out in bliss.
"Do you still want to watch a movie, Tsukki?" he feels him shake his head against his clothed chest.
"Tomorrow, we'll go out on that little store you checked the other day. No questions, I'm treating you."
Blushing, Yamaguchi couldn't wait for the next day. Tsukishima could tell by the way he was tightening his arms around his body from the giddness.
"Just let me stay here like this...It feels nice." snuggling his body into a comfortable position, his arms caging in the smaller body between them as Yamaguchi nods along his words.
"And Tadashi,"
"Hm?"
"I love you, a lot."
"I love you too, Kei."

"Keep calling me that please."

((Something I wrote a long, LONG time ago that I’m gonna post thanks to @derpam‘s post about OTP’s meeting as kids! XD))
“Dashi!” Fred’s eyes lit up with happiness as he saw his friend sitting quietly on the floor in the lab where his parents worked. Under the watchful eyes of his butler and sometimes babysitter, Heathcliff, the five year old happily scrambles across the floor to get to his favorite playmate.
“Fred?” Tadashi’s warm brown eyes are filled with confusion and then joy as he looks up from his picture book. “Fred!” He drops the story, whatever adventure he’d been engrossed in completely forgotten, and scrambles up to meet him.
A few steps from Tadashi, Fred, a bit gangly for his age, even at five, accidentally trips over his own feet. He cringes, waiting for the impact. But it doesn’t come. Instead, gentle but firm arms wrap around him and a voice says softly, “It’s okay, I’ve got you, Freddy!”
Fred grins down at his companion—despite the fact that Tadashi was a good head shorter than he was, he always seemed like he was able to rescue him, just like the superheroes in his comic books. Even though Tadashi denied it, Fred swore that he had superpowers. How else could he be so good at helping people?
“I didn’t know you were coming!” Tadashi says as he helps Fred back to his feet. “Mama and Otousan didn’t tell me—I thought Abigail was babysitting me today!”
“There was a slight change of plans, Master Tadashi,” Heathcliff answers, as usual standing at a respectful distance away from them but still remaining close enough to provide any emergency intervention should it be called for. “Mr. Lee needed to check on the progress of one of your parents’ projects, and young Master Frederick insisted on coming along in hopes of seeing you.”
“Really?” Tadashi’s eyes spark with happiness as he grins up at Fred.
“Yeah…” Fred agrees, blushing slightly and feeling a little bit embarrassed under his friend’s slightly adoring gaze.
Before he can say anything else, he feels Tadashi pulling on his hand, leading him over to one of the empty lab tables at the far end of the room and ducking underneath it. Fred follows him in—this was standard procedure for them. The rows of lab tables made a whole warren of little hideaways for the two of them and Heathcliff, who was usually so careful of Fred as he knew the boy’s tendency to find trouble whether he was looking for it or not, trusted Tadashi’s ability to protect his young charge enough to give them some privacy.
“So, what do you wanna do today?” Fred asks with eagerness as the two settle down into their makeshift fort.
“I dunno,” Tadashi responds, shrugging slightly. “What do you wanna do?”
“Hm…” Fred considers this. “Wanna play a game?”
“What kind of game?” Tadashi cocks his head with curiosity.
“You pick!” Fred answers graciously. Usually, whenever they played games, he took the lead and had them play superheroes saving the city. But Heathcliff had told him after the last time that he’d been here that it was polite to let someone else have a turn every once in awhile choosing the adventure. Fred had determined then that the next time he saw his friend, that he’d make sure that Tadashi got a turn, and he was sticking by that decision.
“Hm…” Tadashi bites his lip in concentration and then says, “Mama was reading me a story about King Arthur and his knights… Maybe we could do that?”
Knights? That sounded perfect to Fred—as long as there was plenty of action, he’d be happy. “Okay!” he agrees eagerly. “Do you want to be King Arthur?” Again, he was trying to be good—offer his friend the better role.
“No.” Tadashi shakes his head decidedly. “You look more like King Arthur, so you should be him.”
“Okay.” Fred wasn’t going to argue with that. “Who will you be?”
“I’ll be Lancelot!” Tadashi declares before making a slight face. “Well… Maybe that wouldn’t be good… Lancelot ended up stealing Arthur’s wife…”
“Oh, blech!” Fred makes a disgusted face. “Why would someone ever want to lose their best friend because of a girl? Why would anyone want to date girl?”
“I dunno…” Tadashi seems to blush slightly. “I kinda think girls are nice…”
“Nope!” Fred shakes his head emphatically. “I’m never gonna marry a girl!”
“You’re never gonna get married?” Tadashi’s eyes go wide.
“I didn’t say that!” Fred answers. “I just said I wasn’t gonna marry a girl!”
“But then who are you going to marry?” Tadashi presses. “You can’t marry a guy!”
“Yes you can!” Fred argues. “I can marry a guy if I want to!”
Tadashi looks worried. “My parents say it’s wrong for two guys to get married… They say really bad things about them… Wouldn’t your dad be mad if you married a guy?”
“I don’t care.” Fred shrugs, unconcerned. “I’d rather be happy!”
Tadashi frowns slightly, considering this. “Well… I want you to be happy,” he finally says. “So… If it makes you happy, I say you can marry a guy if you want to.”
Fred grins at him before giggling and grabbing his hand. “Do you think you’d marry me, Tadashi?”
“Me?” Tadashi’s eyes go wide. “W-Why me?”
“You’re my best friend, and you make me happy.” Fred shrugs slightly. “And I make you happy, don’t I, Tadashi?”
“…Yes,” Tadashi answers after a minute. “But…”
“Nope, no arguing.” Fred glomps onto him. “I’m gonna marry you, Tadashi, and that’s that!”
Tadashi stiffens momentarily and then finally smiles and nuzzles into the embrace. “Okay,” he whispers. “As long as we can be together forever.”
“Forever,” Fred promises, hugging him loser. “I love you, Tadashi.”
“I love you too, Fred,” Tadashi answers happily.
Over by the door, Heathcliff smiles to himself, tastefully keeping his eyes averted but hearing every word of the little boys’ conversation. Ah, young love. Perhaps a bit too young, but he knew it when he saw it—or, more appropriately, heard it. Despite what he knew about the master’s plans for young Frederick’s immediate future, somehow he had a sense that somehow, someway, this just might be a love for the

In a Pinch
Panda’s Notes: Hello, all! Happy –checks time—Day After National Tickle Day! This story is actually my first request! And I apologize greatly for how long it took. I hope you all like it, and thanks to @wertzunge for my first request.
It was the weekend after the loss against Aoba Johsai in the first Inter-High tournament.
These sessions at Suga’s house were supposed to keep morale up and help the team stay bonded, but even with the casual air, the loss still seemed to weigh on everyone’s shoulders. It was especially unfortunate, considering this seemed to be a rare weekend where all eleven members of the team could spend the night
Eleven?
Suga took a moment to count heads again while everyone talked or watched the second-years play video games. Including himself, there were only eleven of them.
“Tsukishima-kun.” He called softly, leaning to rest his hands on his knees when the blonde sitting on the floor looked up from his phone. “Yamaguchi isn’t coming tonight?” When the first-year shook his head, Suga stood back up a bit sadly, resting his chin on one hand; their pinch server had been absent from the last two days of practice. “Is he alright?”
Behind his glasses, Tsukishima’s eyes actually softened. “Could I, um… Could I talk to you, Suga-san?”
“Of course.” The setter nodded immediately, motioning for his junior to follow as he stepped into the hallway.
The tall blonde slipped his phone into his pocket and walked out after him, and they settled in Suga’s kitchen. Tsukishima toyed with his fingers and sighed quietly as his senior looked at him expectantly.
“Tadashi, he… He was really devastated after that match.” He explained softly, “Honestly, I-I’ve never seen him so upset. It’s almost like he shut down.”
“…Has he been going to class, at least?” Suga asked gently, not trying to hide the sad concern in his eyes.
Tsukishima nodded. “I still run into him in the halls, but he’s avoiding the others. He goes straight home after school ends too.”
“It’s only been a couple of days… We should get him back as soon as possible.”
“I don’t know, senpai.” The blonde sighed, slipping his hands into his pockets. “He seemed, um, broken… I’m not sure if we should force it.”
“And I don’t intend to. Trust me; I’ve known Asahi long enough to know the type.” The older boy grinned, patting Tsukishima’s shoulder. “Tell him to come see me tomorrow afternoon if he has the time. I’ll send the others home early.
The blonde seemed a bit hesitant, but he sighed softly and pulled out his phone. “Alright, Sugar. I’m counting on you though, okay?”
Sugawara rolled his eyes at that cursed nickname, but he smiled gratefully.
The next morning, the others were a little disappointed at being asked to leave early, but most of them had agreed that Yamaguchi would probably do better with a one-on-one talk before bringing everyone in. They’d broken off into groups to come up with some back-up plans on their way down the sidewalk.
“You’re sure you’ll be okay with this?” Tsukishima asked softly, hands in his pockets.
Sugawara couldn’t help giggling. “I didn’t realize you actually cared so much about someone. Y’know, you could stay if you’re that concerned.”
The taller boy blushed, fiddling with his glasses and looking away. “I trust you, senpai.” He murmured half-heartedly. “Just be nice to him, okay?”
“Don’t worry, Tsukki, he’s in good hands; I promise.”
He smiled just slightly and chuckled, waving casually as he finally left. Sugawara closed the door and went about cleaning up as much as he could to make sure Tadashi knew this was a personal meeting.
An hour passed, and the third year started to grow a bit suspicious. He checked the time on his phone again, almost about to call Tsukishima himself when he finally heard the doorbell ring. He descended the staircase, a slight pout on his face as he opened the door to his slightly taller junior.
The pinch server cringed immediately upon seeing his senior’s disappointed look. “I-I, um… Tsukki said you wanted to meet with me.” He mumbled softly, apparently unable to look him in the eye.
Suga eyed him curiously, but he sighed softly and stood aside for him to enter. “Yeah, I do. Come in, Tadashi.” He said gently, motioning him inside and leaning slightly on the door.
Yamaguchi blushed faintly at his senior using his first name like that, but he still moved as though he were afraid. Koushi rolled his eyes and pulled him gently, closing the door behind him and leading him to the stairs once his shoes were off.
“So, what have you been up to anyway?” The setter called casually, glancing over his shoulder as they stepped into the game room. “Hardly anyone on the team’s seen you since our last game.”
The first-year stood guiltily in the doorway before moving to sit in the beanbag chair Suga pointed to. Sugawara sat across from him, patting his lap and grinning slightly. Yamaguchi blushed and avoided eye contact with him again, but he obeyed the nonverbal command anyway, lifting his legs and resting his ankles on his senior’s lap. The silver-haired boy’s fingers dragged gently down the sole of Tadashi’s foot, drawing circles in the material of his sock while his free hand massaged his foot.
“You still haven’t answered my question, kouhai.” Suga said softly, glancing up at him.
“Well, I… I’ve just been a bit busy lately. My parents have been asking me to do…stuff.” He flinched and bit his lip as a quiet giggle slipped out of him. He looked nervously at the setter holding his ankles, his legs shivering with the teasing shapes being drawn on his sole.
“What kind of stuff, Tadashi?” Suga asked, smiling patiently and dragging his fingers up slowly toward his toes. “More chores and the like?” He wiggled them a bit faster, his thumb pressing gently to spread the toes apart. “Think you’ll catch a break soon? We all miss you already.”
Yamaguchi shuddered and started to laugh, his socked toes curling as he covered his face. “That can’t be true…” He said quietly, trying to move his feet. Koushi’s grip on his ankle tightened, and the setter smirked as he tickled in earnest.
“Of course it’s true.” He assured him. “Noya misses your determination; Kageyama misses how focused you are; Asahi misses your praise; Daichi misses how good you are at keeping Hinata calm; Coach misses how you always listen; and Tsukki misses his best friend.”
The guilt was clearly written all over Yamaguchi’s face, even despite his helpless laughter; and it almost made Sugawara feel guilty for pushing him.
“And I miss having someone to compete with; you’re a rambunctious little thing off the court, Yamaguchi.” His fingers slowed for just a second before digging into the taller boy’s arches. “It’s not as fun without you around. We all miss your smile.”
It was a bittersweet statement to make, and Koushi lightened up his touch as he saw the tears running down his teammate’s face.
“It’s my fault…” He mumbled faintly, quiet giggles still slipping out as he tried not to cry outright.
“You know that isn’t true.” Sugawara sighed, going back to massaging Tadashi’s feet. “Losing a game is never on the head of one particular teammate unless you do something crazy like throwing an actual fit in the middle of the game and getting us disqualified.” The setter played gently with the pinch server’s toes, smiling back at him. “I can’t picture you doing anything like that, can you?”
“But, my serve, senpai… It was the one job I had, and I let you all down.” Koushi rolled his eyes and pulled Yamaguchi’s ankles until the taller boy was dragged deeper into his beanbag chair.
“Listen, Tadashi. I understand. We have all been there: thinking that everything on the court is suddenly on our shoulders. I completely dropped a set during a match my first year; our normal setter had fallen on his wrist and I was just thrown out there with no warning. You were there when Hinata practically had a panic attack at our first practice with Aoba Johsai, and you know Asahi can be sensitive about things like this; heck, he left us for half a year.”
Yamaguchi cringed and looked away, biting his lip as things ran through his mind.
“I don’t want to see the same thing happen with you. We know you’ve been trying, but you can’t let the first mistake get you down. You have to decide, Yamaguchi. Do you want to get better at your serve? Or do you want to quit?”
The idea of quitting seemed to light something in the younger player’s eyes as he looked back up. He looked hurt at the mere suggestion, as if something would be taken away from him in that instance.
“I…” He said, worry in his voice. “I don’t want to quit, but…”
Suga cut him off, smirking slightly. “I’m sorry, what? I must have misheard you.”
Yamaguchi hesitated a bit, and Sugawara sat back to give him the space and time he needed. “I don’t want to quit, senpai.” He said firmly, sitting up and giving the faintest hint of a smile as he wiped his face with the heel of his hand.
The setter gave him a playful cuff on his shoulder, ruffling his hair. “Of course, now that we know you’re staying, there’s the matter of your penalties for skipping practice.” He teased, smirking a bit deviously.
Tadashi blushed faintly, smiling shyly and covering his face. “Is that why you called me here? To cheer me up so you could punish me?”
“As much as I’d love to say yes, I won’t. We’ll save that for the next session.” Suga picked up the pinch server’s ankles again, leaning back in his chair. “Instead, let’s focus on getting that smile to stick a bit better.” He teased, starting to tickle him again.
Yamaguchi didn’t try to hold back like he usually did, immediately starting to giggle again and curling his toes when those spidering fingers got close to them. Koushi didn’t waste any time, repositioning his hands to pin back his junior’s toes and scribble between them. Tadashi cried out and started to laugh, unable to keep from squirming and flailing his hands a bit.
“I always forget how sensitive you are, kouhai.” Suga teased, trying to wrap an arm around the struggling ankles. “And this isn’t even your weak spot. Should I check on those legs of yours while I’ve got you here?” He asked tauntingly, grinning as he watched the blush creep over Yamaguchi’s face.
“N-No, that’s not fair!” the first-year squealed.
“Oh, I don’t know~ You’ll need to be able to jump pretty well for your serve to get better, right?” Sugawara teased, one hand dragging its nails up over his ankle and the side of his shin. “We should at least see how strong they are, right?”
Yamaguchi shook his head, but Sugawara was too close for him to try to squirm away, already pouncing on him and scribbling across the backs of his knees. He laughed brightly, trying to struggle, but unable to escape his teammate’s hold. Even during normal sessions, he couldn’t recall Suga being that strong. The pinch server’s hands pawed at the chair around him, partially resigned to his fate of their team’s resident tickle monster reaching the weak spot on his thighs. He squealed in surprise, blushing brightly as Suga laughed at him, and he realized the setter had only squeezed at his kneecaps.
“Y-You aren’t going to…” He murmured as he giggled helplessly, not really wanting to encourage him.
“Nope.” Suga smirked, sitting back. “I’ll save that for someone who can really make you scream. How are you feeling?”
“Hm? Oh, um, a bit better, I guess? …I wasn’t going to quit, senpai. At least, I don’t think I was.”
The setter shrugged, smiling. “Well, you can still think about it. Not like I can stop you one way or the other. But if you do stay… the others are going to have a field day with you at the next session.”
The taller boy smiled and nodded, leaning back in the chair and sighing. “…Do you really think Tsukki missed me?” He asked softly, blushing.
Sugawara laughed. “Most of all, Tadashi.”

What goes well with tea ? A TeruYama story
Ch. 6
Of gangs and good advice
Tadashi kept staring at his phone like the words would change if only he wished hard enough. He had forgotten. Completely. Wow, he was both rude and inconsiderate. Why was the extremely attractive man even bothering with him ? He had come to the café, several times, and tried to chat and flirt and it didn’t make any sense whatsoever…
A voice in his head that sounded suspiciously like his best friend made him stop. An old memory, variations of which had risen on multiple occasions through the years, clicked and played like a film behind his eyelids.
The setting was always the same. A park, late at night, swirling darkness and a single lamp. A bench. The dreamlike quality of the memory make it seem more unreal with every repetition but it had actually happened so many times, he’d lost count even after he’d tried keeping one. Him, sitting on the bench and staring straight ahead, his friend on his side, probably not bothering to look at him.
- Why are you listening to them, Tadashi ? Why do the opinions of people who have no reason to be anywhere close to you matter ? They wouldn’t think about anything you say or do the moment you leave their eyes, why do you allow creatures you mean so little to have such a great impact ? Save that for the people who matter. Seriously, we go through this every single time. Stop crying, it’s pathetic. And come on, it’s getting late and my mom made dinner.
The words varied but the speech was the same. And Kei had been right, of course, he was usually right, which made him smug, which made people want to punch him in the face. But he was right, and Tadashi knew he was, but still. The man from the café, Tadashi glanced at his phone, Yuuji, had been in a different league. He had tattoos and piercings, and at least tried to flirt…True, not very successfully, but when was the last time Tadashi had tried to flirt ?
The memory mage him cringe. Kei coldly stating he knew what was going on, had known since the beginning, and then telling him to go with him to eat, had been both the summit and the rock bottom of his flirting. Later, he’d realised it had been hero worship and his first real friendship mixed together but it had taken him years to grow up. And now he was reduced to a shaking teenager again because a stranger had asked for his number. If Kei was there right now, he would be wrong. Tadashi didn’t feel pathetic anymore, but his reaction was still sad. So Tadashi did the only smart thing. The mature, adult thing.
He called a friend at one in the morning to ask for pre-relationship advice.
- Hey. – Short and to the point. Tadashi tried not to scream in the phone. He didn’t really know, because he’d never asked, what their relationship was, but he could guess.
- Um, hi. Is..is Kuroo there ? Can he speak ? Oh, is it a bad moment ? I know it’s in the middle of the night, sorry… - Hanging up before he could make even greater of a fool of himself, Tadashi went to duck his head under the tap and maybe drown himself in the sink, when his phone rung. Almost knocking down a flower pot, he swallowed thickly and looked at it with the corner of his eye. Oh, it was fine.
- Hey, if this isn’t my favourite baker. How are you, chef Yamaguchi ? Haven’t heard from you for a while.
- You know it’s not like that, Kuroo. Um, can I ask you something ?
- Can it wait until tomorrow morning ? – Could it ? Well, probably, but Tadashi knew he would stay awake all night, fall asleep around five and them be so out of his head he would forget again. He doubted the tattooed stranger would try again, all things considered.
- Well, not really. I mean…
- Are you okay ? – It was impressive how fast the man could switch faces. He sounded genuinely worried and Tadashi hurried to placate him. – Do you need me to pick you from somewhere ? Do you have money for a taxi ? Is it shady neighbourhood ? Hey, Kenma ! – And he could be loud. Tadashi tried to speak over him and explain, but nothing seemed to get through him. – Tadashi’s in a yakuza den and needs us to go and bail him out ! – Instead of programmer, Kuro should’ve become a writer with how colourful his imagination was.
- Kuroo, I am fine, please, you’ll wake your neighbours and I’m sure Kenma isn’t having the time of his life right now.
- I will suffer his wrath later. Will we need to sell our bodies to science to pay your debt ? Or just sell our bodies ? Because, in that case, I will call Bo. He can show off well enough.
- It’s nothing of that kind, Kuroo, please. I just…- He took a deep breath. – I need advice.
- Ohoho ? And it cannot wait until tomorrow ? Tadashi, do you happen to have a crush on someone ? Is this why you’re awake so late ? Hmmm ? – He could hear the other man’s smirk in his voice, Kuroo apparently having decided everyone was safe and there was no need to thread carefully.
- It’s complicated.
- So I am right ? Good, good. Now, do tell, who is it ? Oh, God, is it the hot boss you mentioned ? Is it ? Tadashi, getting involved with someone at work is not a good idea, let me tell you. Not enough places to hide if you want to…Ow, Kenma, those pillows are heavy ! Why’d you throw that ? As I was saying…
- Of course not ! – He shuddered. Kawanishi was more than hot, that was true. The man could be a model with his height and looks, but…No. Just, no. Also, he’d seen him with his blond partner and they were so sweet together it was heartwarming. – No, someone came at the café. And…Look, I forgot to answer his messages because of work, you know, but after a few days of silence he texted me again and I don’t…I don’t know what to do, Kuroo.
- Okay, Tadashi. Now, I will ask you something. And I want you to be honest. Do you want to go out with him ?
- Well, you see…
- Na-ah. – While a good reason to call Kuroo for advice was that he always tried to help, a really bad reason to do it was because…he always tried to help. – Come on. You can tell me.
- It’s..I guess ? Maybe ? He seems nice ? A bit awkward ?
- Are you telling me or asking me ? Look, is he a creep ?
- I don’t think so ? – And since that still sounded like a question, he tried again. – He doesn’t look like one.
- Oho ? Tell me a bit about him, then. So I know you’re in good hands.
- There isn’t much to tell. He’s a bit awkward, likes tea, isn’t familiar with foreign desserts, I think he’s scared of Kawanishi…
- Your boss ? – Tadashi had mentioned said boss a couple of times so it made sense Kuroo remembered the name. – Wait, is Kawanishi Taichi your boss ?
Wait, Kuroo knew the café’s owner’s given name ? How ?
- Um, yes ? You know him ?
- Yeah ! Man, he’s awesome. We have an actual audit department in the station. Or something. Anyway, he’s the head guy there’s boyfriend. Semi’s almost as tall as him, blond, dyed tips, you might’ve met him ?
 - That sounds like the guy who comes to visit occasionally. Though… - It most definitely wasn’t Tadashi’s business who else Kawanishi saw behind his long-term boyfriend’s back. Though he didn’t quite understand it.
- Is this about Shirabu ? Yeah, we all know. We don’t ask, though, they are too entertaining to watch. So your admirer is scared of Kawanishi ? I can see where he’d be coming from. Obviously, he’s smart and has a sense of self-preservation.
- Hey, he’s not that bad ! – Tadashi felt like he owed his boss at least a defense.
- I’m not saying he is. He’s just scary. Anything else on your man ?
- Not my man. And… - Was he going to say that ? While he knew Kuroo might tease, he’d never really be mean on purpose. – He has tattoos.
- So I was right about the yakuza.
- That’s not…
- Hey, Kenma ! – He pulled the phone away from his ear. – I was right ! Kind of. Tadashi is marrying in the yakuza ! Isn’t that awesome ? – Whatever response Kuroo got, it had him cackling with laughter. – Kenma says to go for it. And I will tell you the same. Maybe mention it casually that you have lots of friends in the police, just in case he’s a deranged murderer. Though you being close to Kawanishi should scare him well enough.
He guessed he’d gone quiet for too long, because Kuroo sighed lightly.
- Look, Tadashi. If you feel even a bit uncomfortable, don’t go. If you think he’ll harass you at work or something, you just need to say the word, okay ? But if it’s just nerves, let go. Or, knowing you, don’t. But still go with it. Seeing him for a cup of coffee won’t hurt. Just try to breathe. If he gets too embarrassing in public, you can always get up and leave him with the bill. And unless he’s a total douche, he should be fine with you being nervous. It will be okay. Trust me. Have I ever given you bad advice ?
- Um, yes ?
- Exactly, I haven’t. So, go out, rise like a butterfly, like a phoenix, like, like a mummy…You get what I mean.
- Yeah. Thank you, Kuroo. No, really, - Because the other man had started explaining how it had been no trouble. – I know it’s in the middle of the night and all, and it was about such a small thing, so I’m sorry I woke you up…
- Tadashi. I’ve said it before and I will say it again. You’re no trouble and you’re not bothering me. Also, I wasn’t asleep. Kenma found this new shibari pose he wanted to try.
- Kenma found a what…?
- Good night, innocent one ! Go get your beauty sleep ! Bye ! – And then he hung up. Tadashi was extremely tempted to go and do some research on what his friend was doing tonight but on the other hand…Kenma was a bit strange, so whatever he was, it was probably kinky. And then he felt terrible.. Just because the other man was didn’t speak loadly and did what he loved, and didn’t seem to like people much, that didn’t mean he was bad or strange. He seemed to adore Kuroo and show it in his own quiet way, and that was so much more than what Tadashi had ever had, he could only feel envy. Also, he was always the voice of reason in the middle of Kuroo giving advice so, honestly, Tadashi was more than grateful for his presence.
He gathered his resolve and opened his messages.
Sure. How about Thursday ? I have a day off.
Wait, was that too much ? Was he overstepping ? Dating was way too complicated and they weren’t even there yet. Oh, were they going to get there ? Was this a date ? Was he moving too fast ? He probably was. That had been a mistake. He blamed Kuroo for most of those in his life, even if the other man had always been a calm and reassuring presence, in his own way. Still. This was a failure and it hadn’t even happened yet. He flopped on his bed and groaned in the pillow. Now at least he was certain he wouldn’t get any sleep.
